Speaker 6 (00:44):
Welcome, Welcome into the Patriots pre game yesterday. This is
the microphone I'm planning on this Paparolo, Mike, Dude. So
you're watching the Patriots Pregame Show and it's Sunday night,
it is very late. We had a long day of
football and the finale is with the Baltimore Ravens there.

Speaker 7 (01:00):
Of course, how do you two feel about this one?

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Ah?

Speaker 5 (01:03):
I wouldn't say I feel confident.

Speaker 8 (01:05):
I think this is a big spot for the Patriots,
big challenge to get back up play on national television
again after a tough loss last week to Buffalo. I
think we're going to see learn a little bit about
this team of what they're made of. Earlier in the season,
we saw them lose games, they bounced back, they were
able to prevent those from becoming losing streaks. But Baltimore
is a hungry team. Baltimore has a lot of really

(01:26):
good players that you know, want to get into the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (01:29):
They know what's on the line.

Speaker 8 (01:30):
So it's going to be a really big challenge for
the Patriots, and especially without you know, Robert Spelane. We
just had the inactives he was ruled out on Friday,
but just to key piece in the middle of their defense.
And now you're looking at trying to stop the Ravens
running game with Derek Henry and Lamar Jackson. It's a big,
big ask for this defense of the Patriots. They're going
to need some new guys to step up tonight.

Speaker 4 (01:48):
Yeah. Good news though on the injury front.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Otherwise, you know, some really important guys that were questionable
look like they're going to be.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Able to go.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
So yeah, Marcus Jones is up. He kind of indicated
that he felt like he would play. You know, Christian
Barmore was listed as questionable. Uh, he's going to go.
And uh Carlton Davis also listed as questionable. Looks like
he's going to go hot. My eye on these guys though,
especially the guy. The two guys in the secondary, I
know they battled. They both mispracticed two days Wednesday and Thursday.

(02:19):
So this is no joke. I think they're dealing with,
both of them dealing with something. I was watching a
little of the Buffalo game was on NFL Network a
couple of times this week, Mike. Just a couple of
plays that you notice that Marcus Jones was involved in,
and you see him coming and you can see like,
you know, the did this distress you know, for lack
of a better term, he's just really really such a

(02:43):
gamer and battling through some stuff right now. Hopefully these
guys can go tonight because they're gonna need them.

Speaker 8 (02:48):
I mean, they put Barber in there too. Barmore has
been there is a knee injury now, so this is he.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Was questionable this time. I don't think he's been part
of the injury report.

Speaker 5 (02:57):
Something new.

Speaker 8 (02:58):
Yeah, So this is a guy you already don't have,
Milton Williams. These were going to be your two key
guys in the middle of the defense. So what does
Christian Barmore have Tonight? Puts even more of a spotlight
on some of the depth al on the defensive line.

Speaker 5 (03:10):
Those guys again have to step up.

Speaker 8 (03:11):
They're gonna have to have some great games out of
guys like you know, Corey Dirden and Kiris Tonga and
some of those guys that have been in side of
a sort of backup role, complimentary roles, but they have
to step to the forefront tonight.

Speaker 7 (03:23):
Absolutely. All right, let's get into it. The keys to
this game.

Speaker 9 (03:29):
You waited all week for the whole teams in the
locker room right now, just listening to this, waiting to
hear what you're gonna say.

Speaker 7 (03:35):
Here are this week's.

Speaker 5 (03:36):
Keys to the game.

Speaker 6 (03:39):
All right, you went last week, So Paul, what do
you have so mine?

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Stan, nothing fancy, nothing outside of the box. We know
what really hurt the Patriots last week was James Cook
in that Buffalo running game. I would imagine Baltimore saw that,
and they have a pretty big talented running back of
their own, and Derrick Henry so just you know, de
throwing the king.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Yeah, you got to get after him. It won't be easy.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Mike talked about not having Milton Williams and Robert Spallaine
in the middle of that defense.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
You got to build that wall. All the cliches that.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
You can come out with, you can allow Buffalo Baltimore
to dominate this game on the ground the way Buffalo
did last week. I think with Lamar Jackson, you want
to make him more of a passer. You want to
get him in passing situations and make him beat you
from the pocket. So to me, this one comes down
to just containing Derrick Henry.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
Yeah, no question, It's such a huge part. And I mean, I.

Speaker 8 (04:31):
Think they can do it. I think they just need
to be play better as team defense. But this is
again a really big challenge for the run defense, and
I just I kind of assume that they're going to
get some yards on the ground.

Speaker 5 (04:41):
And for me, I went to Drake Miss comes early.

Speaker 8 (04:43):
So we've heard, of of course, Christmas comes early, Bake
Miss comes early, which is Drake's wife, and Michael has
been doing Bake Miss.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
So I went with Drake Miss. I agree with what
Paul said.

Speaker 8 (04:54):
I just I don't see the Patriots winning this game
ten unless we see a Drake May MVP candidate level
performance tonight.

Speaker 5 (05:03):
Baltimore.

Speaker 8 (05:04):
They have some talent on the defensive side of the ball,
but I don't think they get great pressure. And you
want to see Drake being able to have some time
push the ball down the field, the big plays, the
things that have made this offense go all season long.
You need to have a great night tonight from Drake.
And I mean I think there's a real opportunity for
him to, you know, get back on track. Some of
the players in the locker room this room said, you know,

(05:25):
he hasn't really changed. He stays the same throughout this season,
even after the loss to Buffalo. So Drake must which
would be just an outstanding MVP level performance from Drake.

Speaker 10 (05:33):
Man.

Speaker 8 (05:33):
I think that's what it's going to take tonight for
the Patriots to get this win on the road on
national television.

Speaker 11 (05:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (05:39):
Absolutely, And mine kind of ties into both of yours.
Put a bow on it. Yes, it's the holiday season.
Honoka's wrapping up Christmas is this week. It's a holiday season,
and after last week, I know a lot of Patriots fans,
of course, the Patriots themselves were disappointed in that loss,
but just executing all three phases of the game. This
is last week was look at the way Buffalo played today, Like,
understandably against a good team, you did unfortunately take a loss,

(06:02):
but tonight is not the night to do. So I
was looking at the Ravens of Statson. They're thirty first
in red zone zone scoring percentage.

Speaker 7 (06:11):
Take advantage of that.

Speaker 6 (06:12):
Like they are a mediocre team this season for a reason.
And that's not to say Lamar Jackson's not going to
do Lamar Jackson things, but they're not add to the
caliber that we've expected in the past. So seven and seventeen,
let's see how you're able to put a bow on
it so that we all go into the holiday week.

Speaker 5 (06:26):
Yeah, a little more cheery. Yeah, I don't know. I
don't know how you guys felt like this week.

Speaker 8 (06:29):
Probably when I was looking at Baltimore, I'm like, I
gotta throw a lot of this out, like I mean
it is, but like I just have such institutional respect
for sure Ravens. You know, they've come in here and
beaten old you know Brady Belichick teams, and you know
it's just one of the one of those bedrock NFL
franchises in my view of the stability that's been there,
and this has really been the first year where maybe

(06:50):
it didn't go as solid as they almost always are
every season long.

Speaker 5 (06:54):
But we'll see tonight. How healthy is is Lamar Jackson?

Speaker 10 (06:56):
Is he?

Speaker 8 (06:57):
You know, last week felt like he's starting to get
a little bit more healthy and running a little bit better.
That's a big X factor as always for this Baltimore offense.

Speaker 6 (07:05):
And to that point too, it's a Sunda night football game.
We know that these players on both sides are going
to play up to the moment, so it should be exciting.

Speaker 5 (07:11):
Especially Baltimore.

Speaker 8 (07:12):
I mean, I just you know, it's I always ask
myself at this time of year, who needs this game
more right now?

Speaker 5 (07:17):
And I would say Baltimore does.

Speaker 8 (07:19):
We're you know, watching what's going on with Pittsburgh here
and the Lions, but you know, their their neck and
neck just like the Patriots are neck and neck with
the Bills who won today as well. So uh, you know,
it's just it's a big challenge for the Patriots to
match the energy of a team that I feel like
is gonna come out really hungry, maybe I'm just flashing
backfall allsol me these stories about like the nine you know,
playoff and they wan and ray Lewis is out there
giving the speech. Maybe I'm overthinking the Ravens a little

(07:41):
too much, but that's how they live in my mind.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
You just don't know which which Ravens team you're going
to get. You know, they've been there seven and seven
because they've been wildly inconsistent. Now it was terrible earlier
in the year. It's been better in the second half
of the season. They're six and two in their last eight.
But it was just you know, two weeks ago, they're
losing at home, three weeks ago, losing at home to
the Bengals, and then losing the following week. I mean,

(08:04):
you know, at home again the following week to Pittsburgh,
and they just can't seem to get out of their
own way. Five losses at home. That's very atypical of
John Harbaugh's Bravens team. So we'll see what they do,
But right now I could see it going either way
because these this this is just not the same Ravens
that you're that you're fearing and remembering. I like hearing it,

(08:27):
but they are I mean they are a good team.
I mean, I'm not saying that this is a terrible team.
That Patriots will need to play much much more consistently,
you know, than they have for most of the season,
because I think this is a step up a little
bit from the teams that they played and when they
were racking up that ten game winning streak, certainly the
side of Buffalo.

Speaker 5 (08:44):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 6 (08:46):
We just had on the screen a look at the
playoff picture. Like we know, the Broncos still atop the AFC.
Patriots not going to be able to clinch AFC East today,
that's obviously self explanatory, but still a game that we
are looking forward to just to see how they're able
to bounce back, but also looking ahead to the last
two games of the season where they are playing divisional
rivals and hopefully securing that as soon as possible.

Speaker 5 (09:08):
Yeah, well, the playoff, you know, could be could be clinched.

Speaker 8 (09:11):
I mean, if the Raiders were somehow able to pull
it out there down by two right now to the Texans,
you know, so that that would be one way the
Colts lose tomorrow night, they would get into the playoffs.
So you got to watch that game next week with
Buffalo and Philadelphia as well. But you know, for my mind,
it's really going to come down to these last two
games for sure.

Speaker 5 (09:28):
Not great performances from the Jets or the Dolphins today.

Speaker 8 (09:31):
So Patriots, this is the last chance, I feel like
to really prove something or earn some credit for a
good win over you know, a team that I still
have respect for even though they're there.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
And if we're going to look at the top of
you know things, right, you know, we're talking about clinching
playoff person and I'm not suggesting that that's not important. Obviously,
that's what you play for, is to get into the playoffs.
But if you have your eyes on bigger things, and
I would understand that, you know, Denver's you know, about
to get a loss at home to Jacksonville. On the surface,
that's good, but it's also you know, shows you you

(10:03):
know this, this Jacksonville team, I think people have completely
overlooked that they're about to go to eleven and four
with a win on the road, you know, in Denver.

Speaker 4 (10:13):
With a win on the road in San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
I mean, they've had some impressive It hasn't all been
the Lambs that they've beaten up on so you know
the top of that conference. You know, I think most
people kind of eliminated that number one seed as a
possibility last week after the Patriots lost. It's not completely
out of the pitcher now because now you just if
you can take care of your business and Denver would

(10:37):
just slip up one time in those last two games,
you could slide in.

Speaker 8 (10:42):
Still, just watching these games today, it makes you feel
like just just get into the playoffs because you don't
really know what's going on. I mean, Josh Allen got
banged up today with his foot. We saw Trevor Lawrence
take a hard hit. I mean he seems okay, but
you know, just the AFC still seems wide open, and
with the Baltimore a Denver loss today, it's definitely more
motivation for the Patriots to stay on pace, to win

(11:03):
this game tonight and really give yourself a chance to
get that one.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
Buy that. It's just so valuable. You see every.

Speaker 8 (11:09):
Team across the league is pretty much banged up right now,
and how valuable it is to get that extra week
to rest up. It Wo'd be huge for the paper.

Speaker 2 (11:15):
Jacksonville in the picture for that now too. You know,
like I said, you know, they're about to go to
eleven and four. Patriots need to take care of business tonight.
They could they could slip, you know, even further or
even further down those seedings, and you want to finish
as high as you can. So this is an important
game for the Patriots to night.

Speaker 6 (11:31):
Agreed, And we're gonna go behind any enemy lines in
a few But before we do that, do you do
have any particular matchups that you're looking forward to tonight?

Speaker 8 (11:40):
I look for the past protection just to give Drake
time as again, you know, the Ravens pass rush hasn't
been great this year. I mean they have good they
have good players. Kyle van doy we know him well.
He's an experienced, savvy guy who's going to be in
the right spot even if he's not quite as explosive
as as he once was. And you know, ro Quand
Smith's going to be everywhere. But I think they're still
lacking that Terrell Suggs type outside linebacker figure that that

(12:03):
can really generate consistent pressure justin Matabique, you know, out
for the year as well, one of their best rushers
as well. So that's a spot I think the Patriots
have to take advantage of it is just get Drake
back into the passing game. You know last week they
had some explosive run plays. Those are great, but this
team is going to live or die by how Drake
may in the passing game. Go and love to see
them bounce back and get back. You know, it's been

(12:25):
a few weeks now, we had the bye week, you
had a game against Buffalo where you really, in Mike
Fables worlds, took a nap in the second half. So
just to come out and reverse that trend, come out hot,
come out firing, and put some pressure on Baltimore, you know,
make them, let them know that it's not going to
be an easy one.

Speaker 7 (12:41):
Any matchups you're looking forward.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
To, No, I mean that pretty much with what Mike said.
I'm more interested just to see how the Patriots played
tonight than than anything else, Like the Are they able
to do what they said all week and not lose
the game twice?

Speaker 5 (12:56):
Yep?

Speaker 2 (12:57):
You know, don't don't feel you know, don't feel bad
for yourselves. Don't you know you had an opportunity loss
to wrap up the division last week and you have
you know, you had a chance to feel bad about
it for twenty four hours.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
You got to make sure you put it behind you.

Speaker 2 (13:12):
And so that's what I'm sort of looking at to
see how they come out and play tonight. You know
that the sort of their tone and tenor yeah, more
so then than the actual access and knows. I mean,
I think at this point in the year, you gotta
I think they're going to probably try to run the
ball a little bit, and I know that the Ravens
are going to run the ball. I don't think there's
a lot of matchups to break down there. That's just

(13:34):
you know, can you man up and can you stop
Derrick Henry?

Speaker 8 (13:38):
Especially watching the Patriots linebackers, I think, you know, just
without splaining, Christian Ellis, Jack Gibbons, Jelani Tovai, are they
able to track and tackle you know, Derrick Henry's It's
no easy task for sure. And I just say, like
there could be excuses built in for the Patriots tonight.
You know that we don't have Splaine where at the
end of you know, a stretch here. This game isn't
like a gotta have it necessarily. You know, I don't

(14:00):
know what the messages inside of the locker room. I'm sure,
it's not that for sure, but you know, as we're
talking about it, it's is this team gonna bounce back
from that loss and come out with you know how
they came out again on that Monday night game against
the Giants where you felt like they might come I
kind of felt like they might come out flat, and
they didn't come off flat at all.

Speaker 5 (14:17):
They came out with fire.

Speaker 8 (14:19):
And I hope that they do, you know, to Paul's
point again tonight and and really kind of set a
tone right out of the gate and play for the
whole sixty minutes. I think that's what you're gonna need tonight.

Speaker 7 (14:27):
Yeah, and all on those lines.

Speaker 6 (14:29):
Lamar Jackson obviously still coming kind of recovering through this
injury that he had, But what do you expect from
this Patriots defense in regards to still defending him.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
Yeah, you gotta hold on him.

Speaker 8 (14:40):
I'd love to see a good game out of you know,
Christian Zalez, you know, love to see him be a
factor tonight. But again, you know, you look at Zay Flowers,
that's kind of the main guy in the tight end.
So again they're gonna put the focus on the Patriots
linebackers and safeties and coverage, and it might be one
of those nights where you don't see a lot of
you know, Christian Gozalez getting targeted just because because they
know they can stay away from him. So I think

(15:02):
the biggest matchup is is as Paul laid out with
Marcus Jones in the slot, you know, trying to match
up with Zay Flowers, who is you know, he's their
go to guy in a lot of situations other than
the two tight ends that that again are very deadly,
and that's kind of the combination that's given this Patriots
team a lot of problems going all the way back
to the summer, the running backs and the tight ends
in the past.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
And it'll be interesting.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
That's why I have my eyes on those guys Calin
Davis and Marcus Jones because I think they need them.
You know, when if you're going to get down to
you know, Charles Woods, you know Del Pettes, you know
some of those guys further down the depth chart, I
think you're going to struggle in the secondary to deal
with the tight ends and Zay Flowers and whatnot. So
they need they need to be I know it's hard

(15:44):
because I know that They're They're putting everything they can
into it. It's not like, oh I just decided I'm
not going to play tonight. They're both physically banged especially
Marcus Jones. Yeah, I think is physically banged up. But
they need to be able to play close to their capabilities.
I think to deal with Flowers in Marcus Jones's case, I.

Speaker 8 (16:01):
Mean, they haven't really done it, Paul, but I would.
I would almost wonder if Christian Gonzalez on Flowers is
an option tonight. If Marcus Jones is banged up and
you know you can't ask him every critical situation, Like, Marcus,
we need you to take this guy because you do
know how much Lamar Jackson likes throwing to him. So
you know, there's just not another slot quick interior guy
that can cover.

Speaker 5 (16:21):
Gonzalez is probably the next closest.

Speaker 8 (16:23):
And we were talking this week when Marcus Jones was
out of practice, We're looking at Miles Battle the next
man up. Who was you know, practice squad elevation last
year kind of a guy. So uh depth definitely chant
challenging them a little bit.

Speaker 6 (16:35):
All right, Well, that being said, it's better that we
go to an expert to see what the Baltimore Ravens
side has been looking like. So we're gonna take Giannahn
from the Baltimore banner. Janna, welcome, Thank you for having me,
absolutely thanks for being here. So right off the top, obviously,
the Ravens may not have been having this season that

(16:56):
they would have liked.

Speaker 7 (16:57):
But what have you seen since Lamar Jackson's return.

Speaker 12 (17:00):
You know, he is looking better and better each game.
There's always the questions of his pulse right now. He's
had so many injury designations. We're just joking it's moving
down because it went from hamstring.

Speaker 7 (17:14):
Indeed, paid so many, but.

Speaker 12 (17:17):
It seems like it's honestly that hamstring and then of
course he had the illness. So it's really been very
mysterious and he certainly seems injured for a while. He's
looking better, but you know, we just keep waiting for
that Lamar magic that I've seen for the last few
years I've been here, and it's just not happening to
that point. So even though he is looking better, he's

(17:39):
aking good place, he just hasn't looked like that super
star version of Lamar, and that really makes such a
big difference to this entire team. Like a whole offense
is still around that.

Speaker 8 (17:50):
Hey, Jean, I know they've turned it around after the
slow start, but just what's the feeling in the locker
room right now? I mean, is this you feel like
a team that is like primed and ready to really
make a push over these last three weeks and keep
pace with the with the Steelers who look like they're
about to win.

Speaker 12 (18:03):
You know, the ViBe's been a lot better lately. You know,
guys are hanging out and singing and you know, seeming
like they're in a good dude which I have always
felt like they played better when it's like that. Now again,
they also were in very good moods before the Steelers game,
and we all know how that ends. It's hard because

(18:25):
I know these guys. I've seen them at practice, I've
seen them in the past few years. I've propped in
the locker room, and I know they have it in them.
Like there's literally nothing holding them back. I just haven't
seen that flight that I'm used to seeing, and so
it's been really hard to protect this season because nothing
has got a plan and it's just some unnamed thing

(18:45):
that's holding them back other than flumar injury, it's not
anything very explicable, you know, like maybe some older guys
have lost their stuff, but it's still extremely talented, proving guys.
So I do believe they could turn her around it
anytime from a talent standpoint. It's just whether like the

(19:05):
mental is there and it feels like it is. As
I said, that's sometimes pretty hard.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
To predict, Gianna. What about the other side of the ball.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
On defense, it just hasn't seemed to be you know,
that kind of ferocious Ravens defense that we've come to
know over the decades. The pass rush in particular, what
has been the issue for Baltimore trying to get some
pressure on the passer.

Speaker 12 (19:28):
Yeah, you know, everyone will say next and up, No,
it's pieces, but the reality is dumbing. That was an
ungreal player, and he threw double teams and we didn't
quit see that impact until he was gone, right, So
he got knocked out we two, and that's really where
things start to fall apart. I mean, he was the
team stack leader until like a week or two ago,

(19:50):
and he only played two games, so that really shows you.
And then of course they trade it off it a way,
which in a way was good because Alohi government has
helped a lot. Know, they're not just relying on a
few rookies back there, but that works the past rush
and then Broderick Washington, who's hard, the very patient, goes
down and hasn't been back since maybe I don't know exactly,

(20:12):
but very beginning of the season. Previous Robinson who's just
the glass eater. He's not super super like putting up
big numbers, but he was on paced your career season
and then he perfects foot. So they do have a
lot of injuries, but they're relying on like young guys
and death players. They kind of brought it back and
then of course you know it's twofold. It also depends

(20:34):
on the secondary. It depends on them to really keep
their guys covered to give the past rush more time
to get to the quarterback. And they haven't necessarily been
holding up their end of things either.

Speaker 8 (20:46):
Jenna, just on the offensive weapons, you know, Patriots have
been carved up a lot this year with running backs
and tight ends, but you know, how have you seen
Lamar taking advantage of Zay Flowers and the tight ends.
It seems like those guys are kind of his his
core favorites.

Speaker 12 (20:59):
Yeah, definitely, gives the ball as they flowers all the time,
and that's been kind of a topic or conversation because
there are a lot of other receiverers who could do stuff.
Why isn't that happening? But the same as the time ends,
Mark Andrews is Mark Andrews. He's a legend, he's reliable.
But we've been a little bit surprised by isay likely

(21:19):
he has such a good chemistry with Lamar. He kind
of popped up us year whenever he's been asked a
rise to the occasion he has until this year. He
did start the season when it broke books, so there's that.
But he and Bay Flowers the two Days have had
a little bit of issue with their hands lately, so
it seems like, well even Mark Andrews, so he relies

(21:42):
on those guys. But at the same time, in some
of the biggest moments, they haven't come through. So that's
part of a lot of these losses have been kind
of fluky and like they could have made the wind,
like they could have made the cash for the wind,
but they just dropped the ball. So a lot of
it wies on these wide receivers and tight end n.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Not making stupid, the sickly Jenna sort of a bigger
picture question for me. If it doesn't go as Baltimore
hopes down down the stretch here and they do not
to overtake Pittsburgh to win the division, do you think
that that might spell the end of the John Harbaugh
era in Baltimore or is that really just kind of

(22:30):
a bunch of sort of talk radio nonsense.

Speaker 12 (22:33):
So I've been asked this a lot. I've been asked
this by other reporters, by fans, by nique sources. And
the answer that question is simply, only Stevashatti knows the
answer to that. Only he knows the threshold for of
wins and losses, success and failure that would least uh

(22:55):
a firing. And we actually have never heard from Stuva
Shotti while I've been covering the Ravens, so we don't
know what that is. It is very interesting that I
was just getting a little bit of a feel for
fans opinions before this game that aren't just like online yelling,
like what real people are saying, and they do feel

(23:15):
like the message had to sale, So that isn't just
like online talk or talk radio. It's definitely a huge conversation,
but then you go inside the building and there's just
this feeling of like no one knows what would actually
get his fired, so they don't. Actually they're not like
on pins and needles trying to like see if he

(23:38):
is going to have a job or not. It seems
like people feel like someone else will.

Speaker 13 (23:42):
Pay the fall and not him.

Speaker 6 (23:44):
That's interesting, perfective, Thanks for that. Before we let you go,
what is your prediction for this game?

Speaker 12 (23:50):
So it's funny if you guys knowd Nicole ying from
Boston Glow. We did talk to the condition the Ravens
that I picked the Patriots. The Ravens just haven't showed
up at home, and I told from the players, I
was like I used to be like, prove me right.
My productions now proved me wrong. Like for you, but
none of you guys have proven you have what it

(24:11):
takes in these games yet, So I'm tired of looking.

Speaker 7 (24:16):
Patriots talking talk. Gianna, thank you so much for joining us.

Speaker 12 (24:20):
Thanks for having me, guys, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 8 (24:24):
Patriots underfeeded on the road too, So maybe maybe she's
onto something.

Speaker 2 (24:27):
Yeah, and the five losses at home really stand out
to me.

Speaker 5 (24:31):
For Baltimore.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
You wonder if that gets in your head after a while.
And I think we've seen that a little bit with
the Patriots, you know, in recent seasons where it almost
works against you. You you know, you fall behind and
you're like letting the home crowd down.

Speaker 4 (24:45):
You know, you know you've seen a little of that.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
So I do wonder if the Patriots can get off
to a good start tonight, maybe get that momentum going
and it steamrolls on Baltimore. You know, Pittsburgh is trying
to hold on in Detroit, so it's not I think
Baltimore is gonna have to win out I think if
they're going to overtake Pittsburgh.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
So it's a huge game for the Ravens.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
That desperation factor I think would be real for for Baltimore.

Speaker 7 (25:09):
Absolutely.

Speaker 6 (25:10):
And by the way, Behind Enemy Lines was brought to
you by Pepsi. Game Day is here, So stock up now,
grab a refreshing Pepsi zero sugar twelve back because tailgating
deserves better. Hopefully you're tailgating at home, because it's late right.

Speaker 5 (25:22):
Now for Baltimore.

Speaker 7 (25:24):
Yeah, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 6 (25:26):
Hopefully we're going to take it back out to the
phone lines. We have our usual suspects on the line.
We'll start with Patty and agam Hi Patty.

Speaker 13 (25:35):
Hey, good even can you guys hear me?

Speaker 7 (25:37):
Yeah, we hear you losing Patty?

Speaker 11 (25:40):
All right?

Speaker 5 (25:41):
All right?

Speaker 13 (25:41):
So one thing I don't want to see this week
is we know how John Harbaugh likes to value special teams.
I don't want to see the Ravens start off, you know,
on their side of the fifty like like what we
saw last week, because I think that can spell trouble.
But Deuce, I do think. I don't know, man, A
couple of hours ago, was picking the Ravens all week.
A couple hours ago. I just I have this feeling

(26:03):
that Drake is gonna really go off. I think the
second half of that of last week's game, with the
bad taste in his mouth and McDaniel's mouth, and I
don't know, I could I could just see them. They might,
he might stirt out a little juiced uff, but I
think they're gonna They're gonna close these guys out because,
like the lady from Baltimore said, I mean, they have
been banged up on defense, and I think I think

(26:25):
we can take advantage of them. And that's all I got.

Speaker 7 (26:29):
Yeah, from your lips of God's ears.

Speaker 5 (26:32):
Confident people, Why do I not feel confident?

Speaker 7 (26:35):
It's a night game, that's what it is.

Speaker 5 (26:36):
Yeah, maybe all right, and.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
I have a fair amount of confidence the Patriots can
score points. I don't know what's going to happen on
the other side.

Speaker 8 (26:43):
I mean, that's kind of what I'm most curious about, because,
you know, it's just it's a huge challenge. And I
mean I'm still again thinking about, like you know, my
old memories of what this team has been and what
these players have been. But the Patriots run defense, it's
like it's slowly getting worse each week, and it's hard
to imagine how they turn that around and suddenly, you know,
hold this team under one hundred yards rushing.

Speaker 5 (27:04):
It just seems like a huge task.

Speaker 10 (27:05):
Now.

Speaker 8 (27:05):
I still think they can win even if they even
if they do that, But to Patty's point, it's gonna
take like Drake's gonna have to play well, You're not
gonna win tonight. I don't think if Drake is just
met you know, I think he's gonna have to go
out and really play like an MVP.

Speaker 6 (27:20):
All right, Matt, I mean, Matt Wow, just making him
names Nate in Connecticut.

Speaker 7 (27:24):
How are you?

Speaker 14 (27:26):
Thank you you guys here you will?

Speaker 5 (27:27):
Yeah, it's up Nate.

Speaker 11 (27:29):
Not much.

Speaker 14 (27:30):
I think sory like what Patty says, you know, that
last game story left bad taste in Drake and Josh's mouth.
I see Drake thrown for a three hundred yard game today.
You know, I really think that coming off that bad game,
that we're gonna make some changes and that something something's
gonna click along with that. And I think our receivers

(27:54):
are gonna have a good game, and I just really
hope that we get our revenge or you know, we
just sort of prove other people wrong. And I see
winning thirty three to fifteen go fas all right.

Speaker 7 (28:11):
Okay, yeah, real score while we're talking.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
I mean I could see, like I said, I can
see the Patriots scoring points in this game. I don't
think Baltimore is very good. I just think there's seven seventeen.
This is another one of the teams that you've been
playing all year, and you've had success against these teams
all year.

Speaker 4 (28:27):
There's no reason that that changes tonight.

Speaker 12 (28:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (28:30):
Along those lines, we got to email talking about specifically
Stefan Diggs. We see the Patriots warming up right now
in Baltimore.

Speaker 7 (28:37):
But he asked Paul.

Speaker 6 (28:39):
You mentioned on Thursday that Digs sort of insinuated he
wanted the ball more. I'm curious if Rabel, McDaniels and
May will try to get him more involved. And the
reason I ask is because Diggs has about four point
five million in performance incentive bonuses. Do you think they
try to help him reach that goal?

Speaker 4 (28:55):
No, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
I think that they play, you know, just the way
that they have all year. There's been some games where
he's been target you know, the Jets game on the
Thursday night was one.

Speaker 4 (29:06):
Certainly the first Baltimore game was another.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
But more often than not, it's been he's been a
go to guy when on gotta have it, kind of
plays third downs, fourth downs. He's been extremely effective. I
think you just stick with that. I don't know exactly.
I know people would try to make something out of
this incentive thing. I don't think really this is anything
to this. I don't even know what the incentives are,

(29:29):
but my guess is that he's reached some of them already.
You know, he missed half the season last year, so
most of these is going to be not likely to
be earned because he didn't get them last year. My
guess is he's going to get some of these incentives.
But no, I don't think they're going to go out
of their way to force feed them. If it comes
out tonight that he's the guy and he ends up

(29:51):
with ten or twelve targets, I think that's just the
course of their offense. I don't think it will be
a conscious choice by Josh McDaniels to.

Speaker 4 (29:57):
Try to force feed as you would hope more Stefon Diggs.

Speaker 8 (30:02):
For sure, and you know, playing in his home state tonight,
so maybe that's a little added motivation for him. But
I think teams have also seen the obvious of how
much he's an outlet for Drake May and you know,
Hunter Henry and him.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
Those are the two key pieces to take away.

Speaker 8 (30:17):
And we talked this week on Patriots Unfiltered schematically about
you know, Buffalo playing a little more too high, trying
to take away the deep ball from Drake. If Baltimore
does that tonight, and they have the capability to do it,
they play three safeties a lot, then they're going to
have to either make them pay with Drake's legs or
with Remandra and Trevion's legs, so that that game of
chess that will see how they how they attack it.

(30:38):
But you know, Kyle Hamilton in the middle of this
defense is a really good piece. And that's one where
I think you might have to look away from Hunter
Henry at times. And maybe that means Austin Hooper, you know,
maybe it means Diggs. But Kyle Hamilton's a really good player.
He's tall, he's got all the coverage ability he needs
to handle a guy like Hunter Henry. So that key
outlet for Drake might not be available as much as

(30:59):
you'd like.

Speaker 6 (31:00):
You know, we it feels like we're getting mixed reviews
when it comes to the feelings around this game. So
we have Tom and New Jersey. He says, I can't
help but feel this game against the Ravens is going
to play out one of two ways, a probably and
collapse resulting in a loss, or brush yourself off statement
when either way, I feel like Tonight's I'll come will
show everyone what kind of team the Patriots are.

Speaker 5 (31:19):
Do you agree with that a little bit to extent?

Speaker 8 (31:21):
I mean, I'm not gonna, you know, if they lose
this game by a couple scores, I don't think it's
it's all as lost, but I do think you're gonna
get a sense of you know just I mean, Mike
Verbel said it this offseason, you see what kind of
culture you have when you're down, and this was a
down week for the Patriots. They blew a big lead
last week. There was a lot of you know talk,
and it's amazing. You know, you lose a game and
all of a sudden, all the NonStop positivity, it changes,

(31:43):
and that's how it goes in the NFL. But to
break that energy and to get back on track, it's
I don't think it's necessarily an easy thing. You want
to believe in the culture that they've built here and
that you know, locker room on Friday very loose. It
felt the same as it's always felt, feel like these
guys all get along. I mean, you know, we heard
from from Baltimore that she doesn't really know, and it
can seem like good vibes, but then you get to

(32:05):
the game and you don't know. So I mean, I
don't really know either, but I'd like to believe that
this is a team that can bounce back and put
that Buffalo loss behind them and come out with a
great effort tonight.

Speaker 4 (32:14):
Yeah, I agree with you, Mike.

Speaker 2 (32:15):
I just I'm not a big fan on you know,
individual games are a referendum on this season, you know,
and I'm not saying that you can't prove something. You know,
the Patriots have had to listen to a lot of people,
myself included, talk about the schedule. This isn't a game
that you're going to dispute dispel that one like last
week was you know, when the first time you played

(32:37):
Buffalo was you know, you had two opportunities to play
a team that they haven't had any other chances to
play any teams that are like discernibly over five hundred.
Everybody is either five hundred or worse. So tonight isn't
really one of those opportunities. And even if it.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
Was, to your point, Mike, I couldn't agree with you.

Speaker 2 (32:54):
More like, if they brush themselves off, it's not a statement,
it's they're they're a good team, and they've been a
good team all year. Right, if they lose tonight, that
doesn't mean they didn't brush themselves off, and so that
they're a good team. They've won eleven games. I think
that's already been established in twenty twenty five. The Patriots
are good.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
How good? We'll find out in the playoffs, not tonight,
you know what I mean?

Speaker 8 (33:19):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean that said, though, Paul, I
still feel like this is this is on the upper
echelon of those games.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
You know, like, oh, this is a bit, this is
a more difficult opponent than you know, yeah, the vast
majority of Cleveland, Tennessee, the Raiders.

Speaker 4 (33:35):
You know, this is a better team than those teams.

Speaker 2 (33:37):
But you know, you you're not going to all of
a sudden show everybody that you're a super Bowl team tonight.

Speaker 4 (33:43):
It's not gonna happen.

Speaker 5 (33:44):
Yeah, No, that's real. That's fair.

Welcome back into the Patriots Pregame Show. We are counting
down the minutes until this Sunday night football matchup against
the Patriots and the Ravens down there in Baltimore.

Speaker 7 (36:32):
And I got an email.

Speaker 6 (36:34):
I'm going to read to you guys because read away.
We didn't have emails last week, so I'm really excited
to get back into this. So Emmett, he's saying he's
an Adams Masters as he's saying run the ball, run
the hurry up to keep the Ravens from changing personnel
on defense in case we need a plass pay pass play.
So he's clearly on his play calling moves right now,

(36:54):
Emmett hurry up trying.

Speaker 4 (36:56):
To keep off the field.

Speaker 5 (36:57):
I don't know, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (36:58):
They have no pass.

Speaker 8 (37:00):
Yeah, yeah, sure, maybe you know something I don't. Yeah,
but that's something some pace we haven't really seen a
lot of this season. So you know, maybe that's another
thing that Josh McDaniels has.

Speaker 5 (37:11):
In his back pocket.

Speaker 8 (37:12):
Like we saw the quarterback runs down near the goal
line last week, so maybe you know he.

Speaker 5 (37:17):
Saw a couple of trick plays last week.

Speaker 8 (37:20):
Of course, one of the most famous, one of the
most famous trick plays in Patriots history, coming against the
Ravens back in twenty fourteen there with the double pass.
So you know, I don't know, it's just these two teams.
It's a lot of history, and I'm definitely somebody who
probably approaches it through the historical lens first rather than like, no, Mike,
the Ravens aren't actually this good this year.

Speaker 5 (37:41):
But I got to see it for myself, you know.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
But you're right, like This is not Cleveland's, this is
not Tennessee, this is not Atlanta.

Speaker 4 (37:48):
This is not those teams. You know, the Raiders a
proud team.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
I mean, this is this is a team that has
you know, seven and seven still has playoff aspirations. They
still have something to play for, and they have the
ability to do it now. I don't know if they're
healthy enough to do it, but this will be a
much better win than say, I don't know, nine.

Speaker 4 (38:06):
Of the eleven wins that the Patriots have already had.

Speaker 7 (38:09):
Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 8 (38:10):
Yeah do you think I mean, I guess I'm trying
to think if the start is super important tonight, like,
you know, getting Baltimore in a mode where they're not
because I just if Baltimore gets control of the game
early and now they're able to just kind of rotate
their backs and work Henry in and everybody stays hell like,
it just seems like a really hard place to play.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
It's been pretty big for the Patriots, and they've had
the lead in the fourth quarter of you know, throughout
the winning streak, they haven't really been coming from behind
at all.

Speaker 4 (38:38):
So I think it's important for the Patriots more so
than Baltimore.

Speaker 6 (38:41):
Yeah, but with that strong start, hopefully then you would
also want the consistency because like last week, we were
excited about a fast start, yeah, and then halfway through
we're like, what's going on?

Speaker 5 (38:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 8 (38:52):
Well, you know what I'd like to say too, because
we heard some of it from the fans this week
calling into our show, and it's you know, it's never
going to be perfect, like it's ever gonna be Oh yeah,
we had nine possessions, scored nine touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (39:02):
It's like, why do we play so bad?

Speaker 2 (39:04):
You know, we kind of didn't. We played pretty well.
We just couldn't finish the game out. Yeah, and you know,
the thirty one points, there's a lot of points to score.
Got to be really should win.

Speaker 8 (39:13):
To overcome the lulls in the game. And you know,
look no further than Buffalo last week, who starts out
with you.

Speaker 5 (39:19):
Know, three and out. They pun a few times. New England.
They don't blink, they don't care. They know how these
games go.

Speaker 8 (39:24):
And now that you have a quarterback in Drake May
that and I throw Trayvon Henderson in there too, with
the big playability that you know, you can score quick.
So it's no reason to panic, and I think they
need to. You know, we talked a little bit last
week at halftime if they got a little tight, and
I think Josh McDaniels in his press conference alluded to
it that you know, when you have a lead, you
play a little bit different than when the game's tight,

(39:44):
and you just know you got to go out there
and let it rip.

Speaker 4 (39:47):
So, uh, just a little little more consistency.

Speaker 2 (39:50):
And I get it, you know, like and I know that,
you know, the fans have been calling in and that's
what they're looking for. We're looking forward to because you know,
one stop, you know, one first down or two in
the third quarter, I think changes the complexion of the
way the fourth quarter unfolds. You know, one stop, you
know in the red zone out of those five trips,
and you know you've come away with a win.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
So it's close. It's just you need a little consistency,
that's all.

Speaker 6 (40:14):
Yeah, And Tyler emailed about referring to last week. Actually,
he asked, if our offense continues to struggle from the
second half of last week, do you think that Josh
could use some cagic plays to get a much needed spark,
And he added, I watch, I rewatched do your job
Part one earlier and love seeing us get Harbo so
iterated during the playoffs that year.

Speaker 5 (40:35):
I mean, I hope not. I hope not.

Speaker 8 (40:37):
I mean, he's just you don't want to have to
rely on on those kind of things. I mean, I
just I think those plays say.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
It's a funny week to be talking about it because
it just random last.

Speaker 4 (40:44):
Ye yeah right.

Speaker 8 (40:46):
You know you'd like to be able to write the
ship yourself. And look, Josh Mitanniels has demonstrated numerous times
over the course of his career that a well time
trick play can hit for a touchdown. I mean that
Baltimore game in twenty fourteen and the those seven double
pass against the Steelers. I mean, you know, well time play,
you catch him taking a nap and you're able to
hit a big play. But you know, having to rely
on those to be like the jump start to the offense.

(41:08):
I mean that's stuff of twenty twenty two, twenty twenty three,
the bad Patriots offenses in the last couple of years
of you know, Jacoby Roux burkehead is throwing passes, you know,
Jacoby Britton Myers, the storm. You know, like those kind
of things where it's like we just don't have the guys,
but you got Drake May Like, let this kid cook,
give him time, and he's gonna make it happen conventionally.

Speaker 7 (41:27):
Yeah. Take it back out to the phone lines. Ron
is in New York.

Speaker 11 (41:32):
Hi, Ron, Hey, good evening, guys, Thank you for taking
the call. Hey, Ron, I just you know, going off
of some of what we saw last week, you know,
getting Drake comfortable earlier, I'd like to see maybe start
off with some of the quicker passing where they get
the ball out sooner, some of the slot guys get
pop involved digs and look for some of the you
know yards after the catch to kind of get him
in a groove and get the pregame jitters out. And

(41:55):
I think, I mean, like Paul is saying, I don't
think the offense is the problem. I think the worries
are on deep defense, and I think tonight is really
one of those games where your corner's got to earn
their money. Carlton, Davis and Gonzo got to stand up
and be just man lockdown guys on the outside to
free up the safeties to come up and help with
those tight ends. Andrews and Likely and to have the
extra man in the box, maybe shadow Lamar Jackson out

(42:18):
of the pocket. But we really got to be able
to just leave those guys out on the islands. And
I think I think they're up to the task. I
think they match up well with you know, the receivers
of the Ravens. But I'd really like to see them
have a big game tonight, you know, and and open
things up for the rest of the defense to give
some help in the middle of the field where we've
been weak in the past.

Speaker 7 (42:35):
Yeah, thank you.

Speaker 5 (42:37):
Yeah, I wonder how they'll match it all up, you know.

Speaker 8 (42:40):
Between Like I said, it's just the Ravens remind me
a little bit of the Bills and just lacking that
kind of ability to push the ball down the field,
you know, respectful Flowers can do. He's really quick, and
Andrews has been around forever, and you know, Isaiah likely,
like Giana Han said, has been really evereck guye of course,
you know, I mean not surprising that those guys come
on with light when the.

Speaker 4 (42:59):
Bright lights kind of grew up in Cambridge.

Speaker 8 (43:02):
But does Zach Core get created this week or there's
some kind of tweaks, you know, it's just I think
that was last week. What was just unfortunate was you
felt like you can tell when the defense gets out
of sorts and it's just they're not playing as one
and there's gaps and there's a space inside and you
saw James Cook the ability to kind of dance through that.
Now you got a runaway freight train and Derrick Henry

(43:23):
probably just probably blasting right through it. So they're gonna
have to be really good on tackling. That's something last
week that wasn't great.

Speaker 4 (43:28):
So's the bad thing.

Speaker 2 (43:29):
If they can get in the backfield mic or at
least get to you know, in stack. Really you if
he gets to the second level the way James Cooked
did last week, he's going to be really really difficult.
Some of those little arm tackles that just prevented big
runs last week and not going to get Derrick Henry
to the ground and can you.

Speaker 5 (43:46):
Force the ball out?

Speaker 8 (43:47):
I mean he's had some fumbling issues when the Patriots
defense just does not force a lot of turnovers.

Speaker 2 (43:52):
He had two guys that fumbled. You know, Cook has
been fumbling a lot this year. He didn't cough one
up last week, and you know, now Henry, I think
that's a little bit more earlier in this eason for Henry,
but I think that is a big part of this.

Speaker 4 (44:03):
As the Lions are at the one yard line looking
to take the lead.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
Here, uh we got Aman Ross Saint Brown for a
touchdown twenty somewhere two seconds left and the Lions are
going to take the lead. Old Frank Kyle Duggerger called
for a huge passing appearance on fourth down. I miss
that there's a flag here. Is this is this pass
going to get come come back?

Speaker 4 (44:26):
Or is this a uh.

Speaker 7 (44:28):
Zone music?

Speaker 3 (44:29):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (44:30):
This is going to be looks pretty.

Speaker 2 (44:33):
They're going to call Yeah, they're calling it back. Oh,
p I calling it back for a pick. So Pittsburgh
always gets the calls. Man always gets the calls.

Speaker 4 (44:44):
Let's see if this is legit.

Speaker 5 (44:46):
It's is it like one of the little Yeah, it's
like one of a little Malcolm go.

Speaker 4 (44:51):
Uh yeah, that's a pick.

Speaker 2 (44:53):
That's a pick for everybody except for the Tom Brady Patriots.

Speaker 7 (44:57):
All right, let's get into gentleman.

Speaker 4 (44:59):
Sis. I don't see anything.

Speaker 6 (45:02):
Over unders. It's not Paul's favorite part of the game.

Speaker 4 (45:06):
I don't know why you go.

Speaker 7 (45:08):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 8 (45:09):
I think we can enjoy this because I'm so terrible
in the pu pick segment.

Speaker 5 (45:13):
Goodnight.

Speaker 8 (45:13):
This is my only time where I don't feel like
I need to hide my head in chains.

Speaker 2 (45:17):
So last week with the over Unders, Paul was three
and three. Now Kwannie was two and four, Mike was
one and five.

Speaker 5 (45:25):
So what was I just saying?

Speaker 2 (45:26):
Kawnie still lads fifty one and thirty three, Mike forty
eight and thirty six, and I'm still way behind at
forty and forty four.

Speaker 7 (45:33):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 6 (45:34):
All right, well, yeah, we have a lot of work
to do, by the way, over Unders. As you know,
with New England, snowstorms unpredictable, so make sure that you
are ready so that you could clear the snow and
get back inside the cheer on your New England Patriots.
Aarons is proud to be the official snowblower of the
New England Patriots. Visit www dot A r I e
n s dot com to find your errands. Get let's

(45:57):
get right into it. We're gonna start with Drake, Miss
Drake passing yards.

Speaker 7 (46:01):
Two ninety nine and a half.

Speaker 6 (46:02):
I love that they almost put us at that three
hundred game that we've been asking for.

Speaker 8 (46:06):
Oh boy, see you, I'm gonna I'm just gonna ride
what i'm feeling. Man, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but
I'm gonna go under.

Speaker 4 (46:12):
Okay, Yeah, I'm gonna go under as well.

Speaker 2 (46:17):
Just going by history here more so than anything else,
I think that they've been sort of balanced in the
passing game and not necessarily looking to put up the huge,
huge video game numbers.

Speaker 4 (46:28):
So I'll stick with the under.

Speaker 6 (46:30):
Well, history has proven to be generally correct, but I'm
gonna go against the green this game.

Speaker 7 (46:36):
Because of the bright lights of.

Speaker 12 (46:39):
This.

Speaker 4 (46:39):
We'll see if we pray to be bold.

Speaker 7 (46:42):
I'm just gonna be bold today.

Speaker 6 (46:43):
Up next, Lamar Jackson passing yards two hundred and fourteen
and a half.

Speaker 2 (46:49):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the over on that. That seems
like a low number. I am sure it's about what
he's averaging, but I'm gonna take the over.

Speaker 7 (46:56):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the over on him as well.

Speaker 8 (47:00):
All Right, I'm gonna keep my one in five Terrible discs,
but I'm gonna go under on this. I'm gonna say
the yards are running.

Speaker 7 (47:05):
You're going to get the gring too.

Speaker 5 (47:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (47:08):
We just talked about Stefan Diggs will tonight be the
night receiving yards forty and a half.

Speaker 7 (47:15):
I'm gonna take the over on him going over. I
need to a game.

Speaker 5 (47:18):
Yeah, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go over to.

Speaker 2 (47:19):
I'm gonna take the over as well. I think forty
and a half is a pretty low number. I know
he's been below that three weeks in a row. I
think that's got a break at some point, especially with
the attention. Like the caller said earlier, do they go
out of their way? I don't think they necessarily go
out of their way, but that's a low number.

Speaker 5 (47:35):
Home Cooking, What did you say?

Speaker 7 (47:38):
I took the over over?

Speaker 6 (47:40):
Yeah, up next to Zay Flowers receiving yards sixty two
and a half.

Speaker 5 (47:44):
Back to me.

Speaker 8 (47:46):
I know I took the underun Lamars passing yards, but
I think Zay will have a day just Marcus.

Speaker 5 (47:51):
Jones a little banged up, So I'm gonna go over
on that one.

Speaker 2 (47:53):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the over as well. Again, that's
a pretty modest total at sixty two and a half.

Speaker 4 (47:57):
I think he can get that.

Speaker 6 (47:58):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the over with this one as well.
It seems like it's gonna be a very offense heavy
game according to our predictions. At least up next Trevon
Henderson rushing yards.

Speaker 7 (48:09):
That's at fifteen and a half.

Speaker 4 (48:12):
I got to take the over on that.

Speaker 2 (48:13):
I mean, he just continues to get a big, big
play at seemingly every game.

Speaker 5 (48:18):
His longest touchdown yard It might be.

Speaker 2 (48:22):
He just completed a pass. Oh wait a minute, Oh
is this going to be a touch This is what happen.
Threw a pass to Tom Bras Saint Brown. I don't
believe he was in the end zone, was inside the one.
They had him wrapped up, and as he's getting pushed back,
he just flicked the ball out and Jared Goff got
it on the lateral and ran into the end zone.

Speaker 4 (48:43):
I gotta think that the whistle momentum. I gotta think
his whistle the whistle had blown.

Speaker 2 (48:47):
But there is also a flag on the play, So
I don't know what like red zone just broke. It's
not even red zone. This is actually a regular CBS.
And I don't want you to worry because I'm sure
whatever this call ends up being forget the NFL.

Speaker 7 (49:02):
Got it right, Yeah, they always do.

Speaker 5 (49:04):
Uh, what'd you do?

Speaker 7 (49:06):
Henderson?

Speaker 6 (49:06):
I'm gonna take the over on Henderson and a hour.
I can see that happening.

Speaker 5 (49:10):
Shoot, let's do it. Let's get everybody over.

Speaker 6 (49:13):
All os forever Henderson all right, last one not least
total score forty eight and a half.

Speaker 5 (49:19):
But I think that's you funny.

Speaker 7 (49:20):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the over on that as well.
I went all over.

Speaker 4 (49:25):
Yeah, I'm taking it over. Also, it's really close.

Speaker 5 (49:29):
Yeah, I'm on the over.

Speaker 4 (49:31):
Two.

Speaker 7 (49:31):
There we go, Okay, over unders. Time for the fun
sng right, don't you know, I don't.

Speaker 4 (49:36):
Know why picked.

Speaker 5 (49:37):
Everything is over?

Speaker 7 (49:39):
Good, So throw the paper away.

Speaker 4 (49:40):
If someone could chime in and what the what the
call actually is?

Speaker 8 (49:44):
Yeah, we don't have any sounds that the announcers are providing.

Speaker 2 (49:48):
Close capturing only listen. Here is John Hussey. He would
have total control of the situation.

Speaker 4 (49:53):
Here. It's like they're still trying to figure it out.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
I don't think that they've actually made a call. I
think they're probably talking the both booth.

Speaker 7 (50:01):
But I don't everyone look at this guy this.

Speaker 2 (50:03):
I gotta think that by the time Saint Brown lateral
of the ball, his forward progress had been ruled to
a stop.

Speaker 7 (50:10):
Yeah, I'm surprised we haven't seen a replay.

Speaker 2 (50:11):
But I don't know what the flag is this. I
mean there's a flag, you know, up on the on
the screen. I don't know if there actually is one
or if they called offensive interference on the play.

Speaker 4 (50:21):
Again, I don't know.

Speaker 7 (50:22):
You have any reading of lips capabilities.

Speaker 6 (50:25):
Oh oh, I'm just watching family action, which is not helping.
While we wait for that call, we're gonna take it
out to Linda. Linda who's in Quincy. Linda, as we
as the ref officiating, Linda, are you still with us?
Linda's taking in nap, Linda. I know it's late, but

(50:45):
you gotta stay up for this game.

Speaker 5 (50:47):
It's not like, yeah, you're acting like we're on the postgame.

Speaker 7 (50:51):
It's not even eight o'clock yet.

Speaker 4 (50:53):
So there was a penalty in Rogers.

Speaker 2 (50:54):
The penalty was on Saint Brown for offensive pass interference.
But they did call it a touchdown evidently, but the
offensive pass in appearance nullifies that. And that's the last
play of the game, because an offensive penalty can be
the last player of the game. And and then typical Pittsburgh,
they had two touchdowns overturned. It's another Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday.

(51:17):
The only thing missing is Notre Dame.

Speaker 4 (51:22):
Poor Hardy.

Speaker 8 (51:23):
Wow, he's got to be beside himself. He was he's
touching with us earlier here.

Speaker 2 (51:29):
Well, that's a that's a good call, and he's not
in there, and I don't think this should be a
touchdown from this point on, by the way, So he
catches this pass, I don't know why he's not in
the end zone when he catches it, but that's a
good tackle. And I wish they would let this play
unfold here on the replay because he clearly didn't get
in there.

Speaker 4 (51:48):
And now he just now he just throws.

Speaker 2 (51:55):
And it goes right to Golf and Golf runs in
the end zone, and they ruled that a touchdown, by
the way, according to the official stats, touchdown nullified by penalty.
Right anyway, Pittsburgh Baltimore has to win, So that's bad
news for the Patriots.

Speaker 6 (52:13):
He actually does affect the Patriots if you're watching, and well,
figure out what.

Speaker 8 (52:17):
Technically affects the raven who therefore might pass on the effect.

Speaker 7 (52:22):
To the Patriots.

Speaker 6 (52:23):
It's the snowball essentially. All right, Well, this tonight is
going to be interesting to look at, is there. We
were talking about defense Actually a little bit earlier, and
I know earlier in the season we talked about Darrell
Williams still fighting prostate cancer right now, but Zach Kerr
as a result, has been the defensive play caller for
the Patriots. I think it's unfair to really just like

(52:47):
bash him because he had, you know, unexpectedly was put
into this role. But what would you two like to
see more from his play calling?

Speaker 2 (52:54):
Who?

Speaker 5 (52:55):
I mean, that's hard to say. I mean, I think
he spends the dial pretty well.

Speaker 8 (52:58):
I mean, I think that's going to be a characteristic
of this defense, whether it's Terrell Williams or Za Core
calling the plays.

Speaker 5 (53:04):
But I'd go back to just what I said earlier.

Speaker 8 (53:06):
Of just getting back to good fundamental defense, and I
think that's where they really have to start when you're
looking at you know who they're going to be rolling
out there this week with you know, Barmore, a little
banged up, Tanga Dirdin, Josh Farmer. Eric Gregory is back
active this week. He's kind of been in and out.
Last week was Leonard Taylor in there from the practice squad,
So you know, you've got a lot of guys in there.
Elijah Ponder on the edge getting some time. I mean,

(53:26):
Harold Landry is practicing basically one day a week right now,
so they're really banged up with those guys. And like
I said at the top, it's going to come down
to some of these depth guys that are going to
have to get in there, like Elijah Ponder and try
to make some plays and you know, play within the
defense and not getting blown out back and GAP's getting
opened up and all that kind of stuff that we saw.

(53:47):
It is possible even if you don't have all your
great a talent out there. Not everybody's healthy to play
good fundamental defense. And I think that's what they're going
to have to do tonight to keep this running game
of Baltimore contained.

Speaker 7 (53:56):
We'll see how it goes.

Speaker 6 (53:57):
All right, before we go, this Sunday six past, which
is a two pack, and I was just told they're
not even going to play this song.

Speaker 7 (54:03):
Oh no, so my heart is broken.

Speaker 5 (54:05):
It's like a reseason but exactly.

Speaker 6 (54:08):
But today's six pack or two pack is brought to
you by the Massachusetts two fifty campaign, commemorating a history
of possibility. Plan your revolutionary weekend at Massachusetts two fifty
dot org. All right, two pack this week last week
was six Paul.

Speaker 7 (54:26):
These are the numbers.

Speaker 4 (54:27):
So last week you and Mike I can show you.

Speaker 2 (54:31):
Decent Jesus, Kwannie was three and three and Mike and
Paul were two and four. Kwannie maintains the lead there
as well, forty and thirty five, Mike and Paul thirty one.

Speaker 4 (54:43):
And forty four.

Speaker 7 (54:44):
I do what I can.

Speaker 5 (54:45):
We stink key you and not the show.

Speaker 7 (54:48):
I think that's what they call beginner's luck though, right, so.

Speaker 5 (54:51):
There might be some of that.

Speaker 8 (54:52):
I remember my first year in this job, I was
did great on picks, and I've been terrible ever since.

Speaker 6 (54:58):
I think there's a natural order of thing. Like we said,
only two pack today. So let's look at the Monday
night football matchup San Francisco forty nine ers at the
Indianapolis Colts. San Francisco with five and a half on
the spread for that one.

Speaker 5 (55:12):
Ah, yeah, I'm gonna take I'm gonna take Safran on
that one.

Speaker 8 (55:15):
Love you Philip Rivers, great story, but I think San
Francisco is really starting to put it together and they're gonna,
you know, streak towards the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (55:22):
I'm gonna take them. I'll lay the points.

Speaker 2 (55:24):
Yeah, I'd be curious to see if the Colts can
put another defensive effort together the way they did in Seattle.
But I'm gonna say they they won't. I think that'll
be a tall order. I agree with Mike. I think
San Francisco is a flawed team for sure, but they
look like they're putting it together offensively a little bit.

Speaker 4 (55:39):
I'll take the Niners.

Speaker 7 (55:41):
I'm gonna take India at home, just because this.

Speaker 5 (55:44):
Way they just want to keep our our pain rolling.

Speaker 7 (55:48):
Keep my luck going.

Speaker 6 (55:50):
And then of course tonight's game, the game in a
few minutes, New England Patriots in Baltimore, Baltimore with three.

Speaker 8 (55:58):
Three points been change a lot. Uh No, that that
sounds about right to me. I'm going to take the
Ravens tonight, twenty seven to twenty three. Just tough spot
for the Patriots, like I've been saying, I just I
think it's asking a lot for them to get it
done tonight. If they do get it down and be
very excited just for the bounce back and then the effort,
and you know, a lot of my reaction.

Speaker 5 (56:17):
I think the post people excited about you. How they
come out, how do they come out?

Speaker 7 (56:20):
Does it prove me wrong.

Speaker 5 (56:21):
Yeah, prove me wrong. Prove me wrong, Patriots.

Speaker 8 (56:24):
But this is a this is a good chance for
them to show that that their culture does travel and
that they can lose a game again and bounce back
with a good effort.

Speaker 5 (56:31):
But I think I think Baltimore just.

Speaker 8 (56:33):
Needs it more tonight, and they're at home, even though
they haven't played well at home.

Speaker 5 (56:36):
So we'll see. I'm interested to see how I'm.

Speaker 2 (56:39):
Yeah, all the reasons that Mike said of the reason
I'm picking the exact same score twenty seven to twenty three.

Speaker 4 (56:44):
I just see your.

Speaker 7 (56:45):
First same score.

Speaker 5 (56:46):
We both know we both did it well. I don't know,
maybe once, but sometimes it's badly.

Speaker 4 (56:50):
We've been pretty close.

Speaker 2 (56:51):
No, and we and we do it during the week
on Mondays, we do our first TV show of the
week on Mondays. I stuck with it, though, and we generally.
There was the one week that I can completely changed
my pick. But you know, situations on the ground change change.
But this one, to me is what Mike talked about,
the desperation factor.

Speaker 4 (57:11):
I have no I have no lack of faith in
the Patriots.

Speaker 2 (57:15):
I do not need to see them go and play
well tonight for me to say that they're a good
team for sure. I've watched them play for three months.
I know they're a good team. I don't know if
they're a great team capable of winning the super Bowl yet,
and I won't know that until the playoffs. But I
know that they're a good team because I've watched fourteen games.
So when win, lose, or draw.

Speaker 4 (57:35):
Tonight, I don't change my opinion. Maybe I'll get.

Speaker 2 (57:39):
Shook if it's like a blowout, but it's not going
to be a blowout. It's going to be a hard
fought game, and I think the Patriots will have every
opportunity to win. I just think they'll fall short because
Baltimore needs the game a little bit more.

Speaker 8 (57:49):
Yeah, I mean it will say too, just with the
Denver loss a little bit more on it for meat
that the door is still open for that number one seed,
And that to me is what sizes right in.

Speaker 2 (57:58):
I'm worried about Jacksonville and that's what I do. Yeah,
I worry about the other teams.

Speaker 6 (58:04):
Yeah, for the similar to the reasons that you both said.
Because I think we all agree that the Patriots are
a good team. I'm actually going to take them on
the road in this one. I like the way that
they've been motivated on the road.

Speaker 7 (58:15):
Again.

Speaker 6 (58:15):
This is a good bounce back when if they are
able to get it after last week. So I am
actually going to take the Patriots and no I'm not pandering.
I actually do think they can win this one.

Speaker 5 (58:25):
Okay, Yeah, I like you.

Speaker 4 (58:27):
Well, if you say so, I mean, come on, look
at that.

Speaker 8 (58:31):
It's it's it's a great opportunity, just you know, and
again in front of the national audience. So you know,
whatever happens to night, we'll get magnified, probably a little
bit more than it should. And that's just kind of
the nature of what comes when you play in a
big game like this and everybody gets to see it,
you know. So hopefully they just go out and have
a good fight. And if it's close and it's back
and forth and they come up a little short, I
don't think that there's a you know, anything, anything to

(58:53):
hang your hat about. But love to see them just
come out with a renewed effort and see them play
with that edge that that we saw when they came
out on Monday night against the Giants.

Speaker 2 (59:01):
And give an opportunity, like Mike said on you know,
in the national spotlight again for Drake May to maybe
make a step forward in the MVP race. I think
it's I really think it's a two man race with
Stafford in May. I don't really think there's anybody else
that can lay a legitimate claim. I think Stafford has
a clear lead. But you know, you get a three

(59:23):
hundred yard passing game, three touchdowns, maybe including a you know,
a seventy five yard touchdown drive to win it in
the closing seconds, and that makes an impact on voters
that everybody's watching tonight. So you know, I know that's
not really that's secondary to the game. No one really
cares about that, least of all me. I couldn't care
less who wins the MVP. But that's an opportunity tonight

(59:45):
for Drake to sway the voters on primetime.

Speaker 6 (59:48):
And the way he talks you can tell it's not
It's probably in the back of his mind, but it's
not top of mine, at least when he talks to
the media.

Speaker 7 (59:54):
Yeah, but if he gets that game tonight three hundred.

Speaker 8 (59:57):
Yards yeah, No, he's saying all the right things when
he's saying that, Just wondering. I'm like it, has a
player ever gotten up there.

Speaker 7 (01:00:01):
And I don't really care about it.

Speaker 5 (01:00:03):
I just want the MVP who cares about Super Bowl.

Speaker 8 (01:00:08):
Really hopefully well that's probably by the Patriots, but no,
I think Paul's right, And that's kind of been the
theme of going back to last week post by opportunity
for the Patriots, lots of opportunity for the players, for
them to it's still all all out there for them
for the taking.

Speaker 5 (01:00:22):
If they can take.

Speaker 6 (01:00:22):
It, well, that does it for this Patriots pregame show.
Hopefully they were watching and they got our key so
that they know what to ex on guys like you
say in the open for Paul Parillo, Mike d So,
I'm Quantilonez will be back here with the Patriots post
game show.

Speaker 7 (01:00:35):
Let's make sure you tune in. Hey, this is Alex.
Thanks for tuning into the show.
