The first 16 words, of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America are: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." (the rest of the Amendment reads as follows: "...or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.") But it's those first 16 words that is the focus of Ep #194. The phrase "separation of church and state" does not appear in the Constitution... but it would seem as if the "idea" certainly does!
