Würzburg ist mit knapp 130.000 Einwohnern die siebtgrößte Stadt in Bayern und liegt im Bezirk Unterfranken, etwa auf halbem Wege zwischen Nürnberg und Frankfurt am Main. Und so, wie Frankfurt, liegt auch Würzburg am Main.
Die sehenswerte Altstadt liegt direkt am Fluss. Und hier am Mainufer steht auch das Maritim Hotel Würzburg. Von dort aus sind es nur wenige Gehminuten in die hitorische Altstadt und zu den meisten Würzburger Sehenswürdigkeiten.
Vom Hotel aus hat man direkten Blick auf die Festung Marienberg, die auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite des Main liegt. Hier auf der Festung und an zwei weiteren touristischen Hotspots der Stadt wurde im Jahr 2010 ein berühmter Film gedreht: "Die Drei Musketiere" mit Orlando Bloom und Christoph Waltz in den Hauptrollen. Geht man von der Festung über die steinerne "Alte Mainbrücke" in die Innenstadt, dann gibt es dort etwas sehr Lustiges zu bestaunen. Und zwar etwas über der Tür einer der vielen Kirchen.
