Liz Fiedorow Sjaastad has written a memoir, You’re Too Young to Understand, about growing up with, and then caring for, her father – a quiet Russian immigrant, an intellectual who drank too much and her mother – a smart and proper beauty who suffered with the life-altering brain illness of schizophrenia, though she never acknowledged it.  

Liz's life story has inspired more than just a book - it has fueled her advocacy. She has served on the board of Touchstone Mental Health and is currently the vice president of her local NAMI affiliate. She continues to share her voice to build awareness of schizophrenia to help end the stigma that prevents understanding, research, and support for those suffering.
