A Eletrobras anunciou uma parceria inédita com o Google Cloud e o Google DeepMind para trazer inteligência artificial ao processo de previsão meteorológica. O objetivo é aumentar a precisão das previsões de curto e médio prazo e, assim, reduzir os impactos de eventos climáticos extremos no fornecimento de energia.

No novo episódio do Podcast Canaltech, o repórter Marcelo Fischer, conversa com Lucas Pinz, diretor de Inovação e Tecnologia da Eletrobras, que explicou como funciona o modelo Weather Next e como a empresa está aplicando essa tecnologia no Brasil.

A iniciativa faz parte do projeto Atmos, centro de inteligência e monitoramento meteorológico da Eletrobras, que une meteorologistas, cientistas de dados e engenheiros para antecipar situações críticas como ondas de calor, chuvas intensas e ventos extremos.

Segundo Lucas, o uso de IA permite que a companhia se prepare melhor para cenários de risco e garanta mais qualidade no fornecimento de energia, reduzindo desligamentos e fortalecendo a rede elétrica frente às mudanças climáticas.
