O ministro da Justiça, Ricardo Lewandowski, garantiu que o governador do Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, foi enfático e descartou qualquer solicitação de Operação de Garantia da Lei e da Ordem (GLO) no estado. A declaração foi feita em entrevista ao programa Estúdio i, da GloboNews. Ele destacou que o governo federal só decreta uma GLO após solicitação formal de um governo estadual. No entanto, segundo o ministro, durante a reunião realizada na quarta-feira (29) entre a comitiva federal e autoridades locais, no Palácio Guanabara, o governador Cláudio Castro descartou a possibilidade de pedir a GLO ao Palácio do Planalto.
