Speaker 1 (00:00):
You guys know what it is. Man, it's NTC Radio
the station design to keep you in mind. Man, I
love having these artists that come on the show, especially
these female artists who've been growing over the years and
definitely doing anything. And guess what day it is. It's
the scariest day of the year. It's Halloween. And stop
playing with me. Official Foxy Music is here. What is Foxy?
How you doing?
Speaker 2 (00:21):
I'm doing all right?
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Have you been I can't complain, man, Like it's been
a while probably Like what since two thousand and two?
What you've been up to twenty two?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
It's been long, long journey. I've been still writing, recording. Yeah,
just growing as an artist. Man. I'm very excited to
be here today. Thank you so much for booking me.
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Oh, no problem at all. Now what new stuff have
you been working on recently? Since that's how we talked?
Speaker 2 (00:49):
So from the time that we spoke, I released quite
a number of singles. One came out actually last night
you actually premiered it on the Power Hour called Mirrors. Yes,
it's this is actually what this outfit I'm wearing is for.
It's like a bloody marry abandoned bride look. And so
(01:12):
this chapter of the Mirrors is about being abandoned by
your loved one and then perception of others gets into
your head. They try to turn you into something you're not,
and so you show them what they really It's like,
this is something I don't want to be, but you
guys want me to be this person. So I'm showing
you what you want.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
You know, that definitely makes sense, and that's how we
get to know more of music.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
You know me, Yeah, definitely. And so being a hunting
creator and making dark music, A lot of people are
used to the happy music, the things that you know
make you vibe and energize and party and make you
feel good. But I'm not that type of artist, you see.
I dive into the deeper dark side of music. I
(01:55):
create stories. And part of what fueled Mirrors is I
get a lot of hatred on TikTok and other social
media platforms. So I turned that negative energy into some
positive energy. There you go what I mean?
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Definitely. Now you mentioned of a song about mental health
at least in a second, Well, yes, but bet so.
Speaker 2 (02:15):
The song is called reveal I'm Sorry, and the song
is sport those who have been struggling and feel like
they need someone to relate to so they can keep going.
And Reveal I'm Sorry is that song. I sadly was
not in a very good mental state in July. I
had a lot going on, so I wrote this song.
It's like a personal page from my you know who
(02:38):
I am, I RL kind of book, and I'm sharing
this song, you know, because there's a lot of people
that are struggling with how everything's been and going on.
So reveal I'm Sorry is about letting go of that pain,
telling people the truth, and you know, hiding your mental
pain and everything else. It can be very exhausting and
it can have consequences. And so this song is to
(02:59):
those who feel like they need to hold it in,
but this is me letting them know that, you know,
I bet your position. You know, you don't want to
hold it in because you're not alone, and we don't
want to see people going in a dark place.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
But that definitely makes sense to me. And I got
a question where you know, mental health is so important
right now? Yes, and despite what you was going through,
was it anything else that made you want to focus
on mental health for that song?
Speaker 2 (03:28):
More or less, it's because I pay attention to husband
viewing my stuff. I talked to a lot of people
because I got a lot on TikTok and I felt
that was something that needed to be done. I mean,
I have followers who rejocts and me be like, hey,
your music helps me, this influences me. And you know,
I get a lot of comments when I do these
these inspirational like you got through the week, I'm proud
(03:50):
of you, or you know, you know you can do
this inspirational videos I did and people were telling me like, hey,
I knew this sounds like, well, this is a personal
page from my book to you because I know you
need this. So it was very good of me to
be able to give a song to people who need
it and kind of be like lyrical medicine. If you
get my jet. I think that's good word flight.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Holding up next for you guys, like last time we spoke,
we have the mirrors and for me to m NTC Radio,
what's the story behind mirrors?
Speaker 2 (04:23):
So mirrors the character Foxy, it's the beginning of being
abandoned by a loved one who said they loved you,
but who let you basically crash and burn and shatter
into millions of pieces. And the twisted storyline with Foxy
is it's kind of like a bloody merry thing, you know,
murdered by you loved one, which I made an album
(04:45):
last year that released in story of this year called
Sweet Revenge about my ex h. So this is kind
of like ending that series with It's kind of like
bloody Mary folklore being killed ran over, So like you're
spirit goes into a mirror and whatnot, and mirrors is
about being in that mirror and showing people what they
(05:06):
want to see. But it's kind of like a be
careful what you wish for because sometimes things are not
as they appear. It's not good. Yeah, yeah, and this
is why if you see the bloody look and the
wig and all that, this is what that look is for.
So yeah, it's like a bloody Mary horror storyline for
(05:26):
that song. And it was very healing for me to write.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
That one, I can imagine. Now that's all we spoke.
You mentioned, you know, we could possibly look forward to
another album project from you guys. Is there any update
that What can you say about the project?
Speaker 2 (05:42):
So I am honored to you know, open up and
finally let this out. I am working on a new
conceptual horror album called The Mist, and I am very
excited to say it's it's more like a rock genre
but a little bit of pop. It's like a sprinkle
(06:02):
pop more rock. And right now there's about four or
five songs finished on the album. It's going to be
a long album because that's just how I roll sometimes,
and it will be released sometime next year or early
twenty twenty six. So I'm very excited to sprinkle some
singles out for you guys throughout the end of this
(06:24):
year and on the next year. But yeah, I'm taking
my time with this one, and the results are pretty
horrifying and very eye opening, I feel, so I'm very
excited about that.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
What inspired you to do this album? That's cold up
next one? What is what really was the inspirational motivation
behind it?
Speaker 2 (06:44):
So honestly, I had to say to it's actually because
of the haters I have on social media in my life, TikTok,
you know, the quill words they call me. And the
concept of The Mist was, you know, oh, you're opening
this book, You're turning to this page, but do you
want to read it? Do you want to look on
what's within, and it's another like a slowly going a
(07:09):
little psychotically and turning into that villain that people want
to see you as well. On the other side, you
have that part of you telling you no, don't do this,
and you're like, you know what, screw it. This bad
part of me is whenny they want a villain, I'm
gonna show them a villain.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Is it safe to say that, you know? Self reflection
is a part.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Of it, Yes, definitely, especially in I have this song
called Shatter and Break that I finish. It's probably not
gonna be released until the end of November, but it's
definitely like a rock song. It's talking about you made
me play your game, you made me lose sight of
who I was inside, watch me fall and break all
(07:50):
the time, lose my e fing mind. So it's fads
the time out how opening my eyes and seeing that
people have only wanted to see me fall and shout
into pieces and you know, come to them for help
and they just laugh and see me suffer. So it's
going to be a very deep album, I feel yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
Now in twenty twenty four, as a female artist, what
do you feel like is the biggest obstacle you have
as far as people accepting you know, what you're talking about,
or even people just accepting in general.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
It definitely is the lack of people being more open
to the music I make and you know, and here's
here's something I actually brought up during a live on
TikTok the other day, is we all hear the same
happy music from an artist, you know, the party songs
(08:48):
that want to get loose and have fun. And I'm
just an artist that loves to go into depths of
what I'm thinking, you know, and create these concepts because
they're a piece of who I am. Now. If if
I were to make a happy song, a party song,
but it's not what I want and it's for the audience,
would that mean I'm enjoying my career. I don't think so.
(09:10):
And I actually had someone ask me, you know, when
can they create when can they expect you know, love
songs and all those happy songs. I'm just like, when
the time comes, I'm ready to do that. But as
an artist, you know, a lot of people try telling
you what they want, they expect you to do it.
You're like a puppet on a string, and it's exhausting,
very very exhausting, especially especially with this year, it's definitely
(09:34):
been feeling more like a puppet on a string and
catering to what people want. But when I put out
an album that I like and what I worked hard with,
Blood Sweat and Tears, and they're just like, well, you're
just delusional, psycho. I'm just like, but this is what
I make. So there's the people that love it, and
(09:55):
then you have those towers and towers high if people
who are just awful.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Now right now, my question is, you know, how do
you feel your doing in your career with your music
right now over the last two years, like you dose
any obstacles, Like, what are some of your achievements.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
Well, an achievement is so two of my songs, a
single called Sweet Revenge and a song I made about
being myself and it's called kill Me. It actually got
chosen by UNI Masters to possibly be used as an
opportunity for like brand deals like video games, any type
of media, movie, trailers, films. So they want me to
(10:37):
sign documents to give them the right to use that
in those types of media. So that's achievement for me.
And then I just found out last week that in Indonesia,
I've reached almost one hundred and fifty thousand views of
a song I did for my deluxe edition on my
album on Sweet Revenge, I create like a little skits,
so it's called an opportunity. And in Indonesia on Picktop
(10:59):
debuted it over one hundred forty three thousand times. So
to me, that is a that is bigger than I've
ever imagined. So those are my Those are my achievements
I feel with my music career and also being able
to go live on TikTok and reach over seventeen hundred followers, Yeah,
(11:23):
it's pretty mind blowing. I also feel like an obstacle
would have to be again the hatred I get for
being myself, for diving into these deep dark sides of
the music, and then sometimes my life public system one
of my big obstacles. It has to be like my
(11:46):
personal circle can also be like one person in my
personal circle can be very like letting me down with
yeah oh yes. And then I also did Hometown Hometown
Talent Shouting and Lafayette, Indiana in September. On a stage
(12:09):
in front of people, I sing a song I compete
in this competition. The talent thought I was talented, so
and I got it. I was so I almost forgot
about that, but yeah, so that was that was very fun.
But I plan on trying to do more stinging in
person and all of that as my career goes on.
(12:29):
But I say, since we talked, it's it's gone higher.
I also reached over eight thousand streams and music altogether,
so as a small artist, that's a big deal.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
It's definitely been a lot of growth there. Also since
we talked, how do you do you feel like the
process of releasing music has been the same since COVID
and twenty twenty two? What do you think it has
changed a little bit in a couple of years.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
So back in twenty twenty two, I just wanted to
write and release, and I feel now that I'm actually
thoroughly processing and planning all these releases that doing release
after release of singles can be very exhausting. You want
to keep them on a hook, you want to keep
them guessing. I know people want to be fed with music,
(13:13):
but it's definitely got a lot harder for me because
back in twenty twenty two, I was releasing, releasing, releasing
like that EP inside of my head and I'm actually
learning more better about quality, mastering and making music. So
if we look at twenty twenty two quality versus twenty
twenty four quality, I'd say I've upgraded, if you know,
because you've listened to my stuff over over time. And oh,
(13:37):
I was asking what you thought from twenty twenty two
to twenty twenty four, if what you thought of the
so I had like songs that I were bare like mastering,
you know, altering the vocals and stuff. So from now
twenty twenty four, while I'm taking my time releasing it,
I want to ask you personally, as someone who's also
viewed my music, do you see improvements as well?
Speaker 1 (13:58):
I see a lot of approvals. The main reason I
asked that question because of your process. I feel like
you are experiments and more with your voice vocally, and
I feel for me like, well, I heard the last
song Mirrors for Big I was surprised at the outcome
of that. I felt like, thank you. That was like
you're coming as a vocalist and to your artistry more
(14:21):
versus what you've done in the past. And then it
was also a lot more emotions like back before, I
feel like you're kind of trying to find yourself your
sound as an artist. It feels like now as if
you're kind of finding what your style is a lot
more easy and you're a lot more comfortable than if
that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Yeah, I actually from back then and too now I
feel more comfortable singing, you know, the dark lyrics and
writing all that stuff, because we talked about years ago.
But I have certain people in my life who don't
agree with music I make, and I kind of like
learned to just push them off my shoulders, like you
know what I'm me. I'm writing this, I'm recording this,
we're releasing it. I don't care an if they don't
(14:58):
like it. It's for me, not for them. So I
definitely I appreciate that because I was I was thinking,
and I was like, you know, I'd come along far away.
I used to be afraid of doing you know, the
creepy songs and speaking out honestly through poetry, rhyanding and
all of that, and now I think of, hey, I'm
(15:20):
a storyteller, So not only do I need do that
with my emotions and vocally, but also creating those stories
is what broadens the horizons of what possibility of the
next album. Kamdi and it's it's been fun. I get
into it. I get crazy when I do with the takes.
(15:42):
I have to alter my voice, like with the Shadow
and Break, I get like rasping rally. I don't know
if I can like play a snippet of it on
my phone. I don't know if if we can do that,
if you would be okay with that, but I wanted
to show a little piece of shodding break. If you
don't mind, and you want to resurname me, didn't saying
(16:06):
that we're used through a Macady thought this sys come true.
I was Shay know that I have the start to
go side. You made me play your game. You made
(16:27):
me side of you town inside what's made what the
shine and be something good every day faces Mom.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Make said right.
Speaker 2 (17:13):
I don't want to give away all of it. I
can't keep it on the hook, you know if I'm
giving away all of the song. But it's definitely a
good change and a new change. I'm very excited to
show people how far I've come. And it's all actually
you know, thanks to you guys at m NTC Radio.
You know you, you guys are my first step in
(17:35):
fully into showing who I was, and after that interview
and after getting comfortable, I was like, you know what
I'm going fully in. This is what I want to do,
and it's all thanks to you guys. So I really
do appreciate it. And it's been amazing getting to communicate
with you and be able to do these releases on
(17:58):
the radio and play it. So you guys have been
absolutely amazing. So I couldn't have gotten further if it
wasn't for you guys there, So I hope you all
you all over there also give yourselves a round of applause,
because I really do appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (18:10):
We definitely appreciate that. It's all love. So that actually
leads me to my next question. So you know, with
your last single, Mirrors, the production was a little bit
more what's the word I'm looking for? And the production
was more in your face, I would say, some of
the other productions. How are you what is your process
(18:33):
for picking your instrumentals in your in your selections like that,
like how do you know? How do you break that down?
Speaker 2 (18:39):
So basically we have the game so versus the track
and then the vocals. So what I have to do
when I have a vocal like the instruments lined up
and stuff is I have to uh get the game
to where it matches, and it's like within a little
bit uh further apart or near thevocal range, so like
(19:01):
when it sounds like it's at the same level. So
one needs to be at a higher level where you
can hear more than the other. And with Mirrors, I
actually used an effect that makes the voice echoy when
I sing the lyrics, so that's why it gives that
spook factor, if you get what I mean. And it
was just really fun to alter the instrumentals and the
(19:23):
vocals and get it right. And I think that was
the right the right single to put for the miss
So I appreciate you asking me that question. Sometimes it's
not really easy. It depends on the song, but missed it.
But with the miss lead single Mirrors, it was very
very easy to do.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Now, as I said, as you release more music, I
feel like you know, Foxy, like you get more and
more comfortable, and I feel like it's gonna lead to
other things. We haven't seen so much since you from
you as.
Speaker 2 (19:50):
So much surprises, so you never know. I can't I
can't let you guys know everything. But I'm full of surprises,
very very full of surprises.
Speaker 1 (19:57):
Well, it kind of wants to lead me to ask,
you know, with with with how you're growing, I know
you're gonna be like, I'm assuming there's some collabse are
gonna be seeing what you hear very soon.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
I'm hope, I'm hoping. So there's a person who does music.
They're they're called like a it's called the an artist,
like a musician, but they're like in this fandom called
like the furry fandom, and I'm friends with them, and
they're called nice like capital N capital I capital I see.
And we've actually been talking about hopefully collabing. I've been
(20:33):
open to clapping with someone who, like you know, loves
the spooky, the spooky songs, you know, loves writing lyrics.
I've been open to that, but it's so hard to
find people that match that vibe, you know. And there's
this one person that hopefully we're trying to get on
a song together. But it's also depends like their time
(20:53):
schedules and all that, because they're farther ahead, they're doing
shows and all of that, and I'm only in the beginning.
So ooh, it's a process. But I'm hoping clouds can
be done. And if you guys hear this out there,
I'm open to collad. Just reach out to me on Twitter,
on TikTok, Instagram, let's talk. Let's see if we have
(21:17):
that vibe that match and music making, and let's see
what we can jadle. I'm really open to that. It'd
be really cool to share something with someone in that category.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
So yeah, and now when it comes to music, you know,
we always see the sweet pot. We see the artwork,
we see the links, we see the promotion, but a
lot of times we don't see the behind us, seeing
things that either inspire this music or the problems that
happen that you make this music as you think, it
mirrors what was some of the obstacles you was facing,
whether it was emotionally or in the recording process.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
It was definitely during recording, I had oscoles, Like I
record on my iPhone, I have these noise canceling headphones.
So basically when you have like little siblings that come
into your room, like come to the area where you're recording,
and they're being loud and whatnot. So I had to
do a couple of takes that and then I just
have to have a day where I'm feeling very emotional.
(22:11):
When I'm feeling like that type of emotion I have
to feel on a day if I'm happy, I can't
sing like that emotion. And with Mirrors, I also when
I was doing the one, the one part of a
they want to see me bleed, they want to tears
a cry that one, I could not get up to
(22:33):
that note for a few takes, so I had to
keep on doing it. It was like, does this one
feel right? No? Does this one feel right no? And
that's the same about music, and that is the beauty
is it takes time, but the finished product should be amazing.
If you took your time and you worked with it,
it'll be an absolutely amazing product, absolutely amazing sound. And
that's what I felt I had to do with Mirrors,
and I feel like it came out absolutely wonderfully.
Speaker 1 (22:55):
That definitely makes sense. Now, what does it feel like
for you right now in this stay your career when
you know you have Mirrors recorded and that time comes
with when you know you were about to release it.
What was going through your brain at that moment right
before the release?
Speaker 2 (23:09):
I was really nervous because when I pitched it to
you to uh A Mirror on your radio. I was like,
are people going to actually like like this? Is it
good enough? I mean, match is the Halloween vibes? I
was seeking, like is the new era you know, going
to be amazing as my other eras? Is it going
to show my progress? So I was just like as
(23:32):
my mental health, I was like overthinking. I was like,
oh my gosh, is this going to so of people?
Is it going to work? And when it released, I
just had that big breath of relief and a lot
of people on TikTok were telling me they like it
and stuff. So I'm hoping because it only gets better,
I believe from here with the other songs I've recorded
(23:54):
and done, so Mirrors was just that door opening for
the Mist and I just hope that, you know, they
love this upgraded definitely a newly lyrical era that I'm
doing because I'm trying to paint a picture. I'm trying
to paint the story of not my alter ego Foxy.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
But you know my my I rl self in this
album definitely, and I think it really shines on Mirror,
and I think it's gonna shine on the Miss overall
in general. Now it's Halloween and you know a lot
of people's getting nereated right now, and so we need
you to kind of just let people know how can
I get a hold of Foxy Music in your brand
and like connect with you with things like that nature.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Definitely, So you guys can get a hold of me
on TikTok at all over case Official Foxy Music. You
can also get a hold of me on Twitter at
official Peace so much. It's it's absolutely fun to be
able to enhance my vision lyrically and the world that
(25:00):
I'm doing, and I'm also doing it like looks now,
I mean the silver hair, the long drives in the
bloody face, I mean, I'm so excited that I'm even
getting the costumes for eras now. So I'm very excited
to bring more to you guys for this era. I
know at one point in time, I do want to
do shows more, I want to sing. I want to
(25:21):
create absolutely amazing experiences for people who've listen to my music.
And I think that's what we're going to be looking
forward to next. I'm actually going to be hopefully There
is a venue in Indianapolis called the Hoosier Dome, and
(25:43):
I've been reached out several times to possibly do a
show November fifteenth. So if I can hopefully get my
oranges in one basket and get all that planned out
and sell enough tickets, selling enough tickets, it could be
a first show on our hands.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
So I think that would be definitely dope, and I
think you have a good story to tell about it
as well. I think as an artist you've grown so
much that that element of sharing your music with people
and that emotion on stage in real time, I think
it's really going to bring something out of you that
even we don't even know how far you can take.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Oh, I'm so excited for the future and what it holds,
and I have many, many big, big dreams planned for
the career and working on the mist. I also wanted
to say that it's also going to give small not cameos.
But what's it called when you it's like you give
(26:43):
a piece of something from like a movie or something,
paying my respects to some old I love when I
was a kid. I like Scream, Halloween, those types of movies.
So I'm very excited to work on the middle and
you know things are coming, things are coming it's emotion.
(27:05):
I'm very excited and I hope you guys enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
What's m NTC Radio. Foxy Music's definitely going down as
Halloween's real spooky. You see her outfit, it ain't no gang.
You see the blood, you see the silver Head. You
know what I'm saying. I gotta say Fox Yeah. I
definitely appreciate your time and we look forward to have
you back on the show. We're still gonna keep your
music spind the night.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
Thank you very much. It's been an honor to be
back here after two years.
