Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome the prospect Spot podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Welcome to the Prospects Live Dynasty podcast, Episode number seventy nine.
It is Tuesday, August twelfth, twenty twenty five. I am
your host, Greig kok Camp. I'm the director of Dynasty
content for Prospects Live. Tonight, I am joined by two
members of my Dynasty team. First, the creator of our Dynasty,
our Diamond Diplomas article series, Lucas Morale Lucas.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Good evening, Good evening, how's everybody doing? Excited to talk
about some prospects looking ahead to next year?

Speaker 2 (00:40):
Awesome? And another member of our Dynasty team. He is
one half of our Dynasty Pickups duo, Kyle Sontag. Kyle,
how's it going.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
I'm doing really well. Greg. Just watched our Jay's pull
off another wind tonight against the Cubs, So feeling good
getting into this podcast here. We're we're working on good
vibes right now.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
We are sire.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
Yankees are winning as well, so well for now, we'll
see how the bullpen does.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yes, that's been an interesting since the trade deadline with
all the acquisitions for sure. So in this episode, as
Lucas alluded to, Kyle, Lucas and myself will discuss how
we think the prospect landscape will look this time in
twenty twenty six. We're looking at mid August twenty twenty six,

(01:28):
one year from now, twelve months from now.

Speaker 4 (01:30):
So we went through.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
An exercise where we're going to pick one player from
each position each and maybe a dark horse as well,
and have a discussion about some of these players we
think will rise to the top of the prospect rankings.
But before that, we're going to open up with a
discussion about Major.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
League Baseball awards.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
We're going to go through the MVP, SA Young and
Rookie a Year voting and see where we kind of
stand at this point mid August twenty twenty five. So guys,
we'll start with the MVA race. We'll start with the
American League. We've got pretty much. I would say it's
maybe a two horse race at this time. You might
debate me on that one, but Aaron Judge and cal

(02:10):
Ralely have been kind of the two guys kind of
fighting back and forth a little bit. I think the
gaps closed a little bit since Judge was hurt and
he has since come back. But Kyle will start with you,
where do you see the al MVP at this point.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
I think for now it's sitting with Judge. I think
what Raley's been doing has been incredibly impressive. But for me,
you look at what the Yankees looked like without Judge,
and it's pretty clear that he is the most valuable
player to his team right now.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Lookas says the Yankees fan, do you agree that in
the Judge is the guy.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
I certainly think he's the most valuable. I totally agree
with Kyle sentiment there. I think the big thing with
MVP voting too that shouldn't matter as much every year
as it does, is they really do. Look at the
Triple Crown stats batting average, home runs are and Judge
hitting three thirty six while Kyle Raley's in the mid
two forties is just such a big differential that I
think if the power is close to even with the

(03:08):
home run totals toward the end of the season, they're
going to give the nod to Judge just is the
better overall hitter, which I won't be mad about, but
I will be mad about it if it means it
comes at the expense of the team making playoffs. So
we'll see.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
When you look at more so taking defense into account,
it's a lot closer. Judges at seven currently Kyle relays
at six and a half, So it is it is
a two horse race. I would say I think terrif
Google bears mentioned here at this point as well. He's
really kind of led that Detroit team to their lead
in the American Central. But I think it's the two batters.

(03:43):
Raleigh definitely the better defender of the two judges DH
right now only right, Lucas.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Right until he gets his arm back at one hundred percent.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
So that that might sway a few goaltes here or there,
but I think I think we're all in agreement.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
The judge is probably the nod here n L MVP.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
We got Sholey Otani again, just having a phenomenal season.
He's now throwing off the mound. I think he was
up to four innings in his last start. We have
a few other names in this conversation. PCA had a
great first half, he's kind of faltered a little bit
in the last few weeks. Court McCarroll is having a
tremendous year again. Kyle Schwarber has forty two home runs

(04:25):
at this point, and I also have Fernando tattis down
to kind of run out a list of five. But Lucas,
do you see this as Otani as the clear front runner.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
I think, especially with him returning to the mound and
looking really really solid there for the last month or so,
I think Otani really does have the lead here for
an l MVP. I was hoping PCA was going to
make it a competition, but he's hitting under one hundred
right now in August, and so if that continues into
the sort of playoff hunt in the NL Central, I
think that's really going to sour a lot of people

(04:57):
on his MVP campaign.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Cyle, do you agree with that? Sense meant absolutely?

Speaker 3 (05:01):
I think you know PCA's kind of I never truly
believed in what he was doing in the first half.
It was incredibly exciting, it was great for the game,
but you could just see that there were holes in
his game, and I think he's starting to regress to
the meme here. And I think it was really telling
that in yesterday's Monday Night game, he or maybe it

(05:24):
was Sunday, I can't recall, but he was pulled for
a pinch hitter in a key spot at the end
of the game. I think that says a lot about
where he's at right now and about where he's at
in this MVP race.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
I agree with everything you guys have said.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
I think Otani is far and away to the winner.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Again, and I think if he stays healthy the rest
of his career, I think he's just going to continue
to rock up the MVP's kind of like Perry Bonds
did in the early two thousands. He just wanted every
year because he was clearly the best player in the league.
When it comes to MVP, a lot of times there
discussion about whether the team is a good team or

(06:05):
a poor team. And we have like Corbyn Carroll, who's
having probably his best season. He's really amped his power
up a lot this year, but the Diamondbacks are not
a playoff contender, so I think that hurts his stock
a little bit. But I think he needs to be
called out as somebody who's having a tremendous year.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
All right, move on to the cyon.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
We'll start with the al we've already mentioned his name
in the MVP conversation. Trek Scougle, I think would be
the leader far and away here as well. But I'll
mention Garrett Crochet Hunter Brown, Framber Valdez, and Nadi Abaldi
as other pitchers in the ale having good years.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
Kyle, where do you see this this race?

Speaker 3 (06:44):
I think you called it out the fact that we
mentioned Schoogle when we're talking about the MVP race says
that this is probably his award to lose right now.
There are some other tremendous seasons going on right now.
Crochet has been fantastic, Brown, Valdez, and it can't be
undersetated how valuable you Evault has been to that Rangers team.
He's I think almost single handedly carried them to where

(07:06):
they're at in the playoff race right now. But Scoogle's
just head and shoulders above everybody else right now.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Lucas, Yeah, I concur I think the same way Kyle
feels about PCA was kind of how I felt about
Hunter Brown in terms of just waiting for the bottom
to drop out a little bit of the helium given
how well he had performed for the first few months
of the season, but his July was pretty shaky. Over
five starts, he had a five point five to four
ERA hitters hit two sixty two against him on the month,

(07:34):
and his August has looked much better. But I think
a month like that is just really detrimental to your
award hopes, especially when you're splitting votes with Franburg on
your team already. I agree.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
I think Scoogle's the guy. He's He's still fun to
watch on the mound too. I know it's not that
about an entertainment, it's about what you do out in
the mound. But he's fired up all the time and
he really wants to win. So I love watching him.
And I'll say you, We'll start with you, Lucas. Paul
Skins seems to be the leader at this point. But

(08:06):
do any guys kind of get into this race a
little bit.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
That's a good question. I think up until today, right
Skeins has looked amazing against just about everybody but the Mets,
but they seem to have his number. I think in
when it gets to the review mirror, when we get
to the end of September, I don't really think these
clips on the radar are going to matter for schemes.
I think he's going to be not only the front
runner numbers wise, but also just in terms of public opinion.
Everybody thinks of him as the best pitcher in baseball,

(08:32):
I imagine, and I think him and s Google and
so I think that's probably what it's going to come
down to. But I think the Phillies kind of have
an astro situation where both Sanchez and Wheeler deserve consideration here,
but they're going to again kind of split the vote
a little bit because they are both performing so well
on a playoff team, but they're both kind of having
to share the spotlight in Philadelphia.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Kyle, what do you think about this? And I'll science situation.

Speaker 3 (08:57):
I agree with Lucas here. I think that this is
Skeens is a word to lose these blips on the radar,
Like he said, at the end of the day, they're
gonna get washed aside by all the dominance in all
of his other starts. I do want to call out
what Logan Webb is doing, though he is having arguably
his best season of his career. It's a three three ERA,

(09:20):
but he's upped his strikeouts, he's kept his walk right low.
He has been tremendous for the Giants and deserves a nod.
But Skeens is just similar to Scooble in the al
just head and shoulders above everybody else.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Here. Yeah, I agree. I think Skeins is the guy
who's just just that level better than everybody else. Pittsburgh
seems to be managing him his innings a little bit.
They've they've cut a few of his starts a little
bit shorter. I think they're not in the race really,
so there's no need to push him or anything like that.
But it's just worth noting that he might lose a

(09:55):
few votes here, and they're just based on one volume alone.
So all right, here's where it gets a little bit
of fun. The Rookie of the Year award voting. I'll
start with the Al Lucas will start with you. This
is an interesting race, so I'm not going to stand
any names, and you tell me what you think.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
It is an interesting grace, But to me, it's been
a one horse race for about two months. I think
Nick Kurtz is pretty clearly the not only the American
League Rookie of the Year, but I've been really trying
to waive the banner for him as the Dynasty number
one overall first baseman. I think it's pretty hard to
argue with his performance this year. He has twenty three
home runs, I know ps over one thousand, and this
is all in under three hundred at bats. I mean,

(10:36):
I think we're looking at a player who probably would
have flirted with forty home runs and his rookie season
had he been up for the full season. And while
Jacob Wilson was running a really hot batting average early on,
that kind of arm injury, the broken armory he took
him out of the running lately. And Kim Smith is
also cooled off a good bit, so I think for me,
Kurts is not only the rookie of the year, but
should probably be coming off the board in the offseason

(10:57):
as the first first baseman.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Well, is there anything Roman Anthony he can do to
take this away.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
From that Kurtz?

Speaker 3 (11:05):
I think there is. I think he can make it
at least a close race if he starts lifting the
ball a little more and putting a few more of
these balls over the wall. He's hitting tremendously, He's showing
excellent patients at the plate. He looks like a seasoned
veteran in his early twenties right now. I think he
just needs to start putting the ball over the wall
and he could give Kurtz a bit of a run

(11:27):
for his money. Now, Kurtz has a big head start
and it's going to take a lot of work from Anthony,
but I think he can at least make this an
interesting race, maybe more interesting than some of the other
ones we've discussed to this point.

Speaker 4 (11:40):
What Kurts is doing is truly impressive.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
We knew the plate approach and the power was really
really good, but he's doing this like we've seen so
many of the prospects struggle when they get called up,
and it just didn't happen with him. Really, He's just
kind of hit the ground running and then amazing his
entire season, and so I think he.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
Definitely has the lead.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
I think Anthony can close the gap a little bit,
but kurtse playing in that small ballpark too, I think
that really really helps him.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
So he also has the biggest moment of the year
in terms of the four home run performance at Houston.
And again, just like I mentioned with the Triple Crown
stats thing earlier, voters do tend to pay attention to
narrative a little bit, and I think having arguably the
best individual performance of the last decade, if not all
time as a hitter in one game, I think it's
going to also give him some credibility there. That's a
good point.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
All right, Lucas, We'll come back to you again for
the n L Rookie of the Year. I know I
have my favorite here, but who do you see taking
this award?

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Despite the fact that everybody's talking about Isaac Collins. Now,
I actually agree with you. I think it's Strake Baldwin.
I think when we think about, like I know, Kyle
just mentioned how mature Roman Anthony has looked as a
big leaguer, I think for Baldwin to be doing this
while playing catcher is incredibly impressive. It's the most demanding
position in the field for all hitters. For him to
step into a team that came into the year with

(13:03):
contending aspirations and basically force his way into being their
primary catcher at least splitting time behind the plate in
Atlanta is really really impressive. Maybe because he's not exclusively
their catcher, that's going to kind of eat away at
some people's perception of him. But I think Drake Baldwin
definitely deserves the award.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Kyle, what do you think.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
I think it's a clean sweep for Baldwin here. I
do think it's going to be a close race. But
I agree with you, guys, Baldwin has a one thirty
four WRC plus coming into today as a rookie catcher.
You don't see that from most catchers period, let alone
a rookie catcher. And well, his defense isn't fantastic, it's
good enough that it's not going to hurt him in

(13:42):
this conversation, So I think that this is a you know,
a really again, like Lucas said, a really mature, talented
player that we are just seeing, you know, kind of
the scraping of the surface of right now. And an
excellent call out from you, Greg, dating back more than
a year ago.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Now, Yeah, I just he's so even keeled, he's got
a level emotion. He doesn't get too high, he doesn't
get too low. He's very mature, and you want that
behind the plate. You want that steady influence for your pictures, even.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
If all the pitchers are older than him.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Pretty much when he's out there, he's just very calm
back there and nothing seems to face him. And he's
obviously very talented obviously as well. So I don't know,
I'm just a big fan of his and I'm glad
to see him doing so well. All right, guys, so
we'll just talk about what's going on baseball now. So

(14:37):
the first thing I had on the list was the
Brewers have an eleven game winning streak while they're up
how much tonight fourteen nothing or twelve nothing, fourteen nothing?
They just won the games there, now have a twelve
game winning streak. They are thirty one games over five hundred,
running away with the Central What more can we say
about this organization? Guys, this is truly special thing that's

(15:00):
happening here in Milwaukee.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Kyle, Yeah, they are an incredibly impressive team. But when
I look at this roster, I do wonder how deep
they're going to be able to go into the playoffs,
because this, to me, is a team that's able to
kind of chip away, chip away, chip away until they
beat you down. And I just wonder if that is
going to work as well in the playoffs without those

(15:22):
true stars, because yes they have Yelich and yes they
have Churio, but I don't think that they are playing to,
you know, the true top tier level right now. It's
more of a collection of everybody kind of you know,
playing to their eightieth, ninetieth percentile right now, and if
you know, any piece of that machine starts to slow down,

(15:43):
I worry about what's going to happen in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
Lucas, do you think the Brewers team can be successful
in the playoffs?

Speaker 1 (15:51):
I think they can. I think the rotation being healthy
is a huge factor there, because, like Kyle said, they're
definitely I think pushing the upper limits of talent on
the roster right now in terms of output. But if
you're in a playoff environment and you're really only going
to be running three starters, pretty hard to argue with Woodruff, Peralta,
and then whatever they choose to do with Missierowski and
then maybe somebody piggybacking him. I think not only is

(16:13):
that rotation formidable, but this is also just a team
that they claim to be running on the power of friendship.
I think they're running on the power of Pat Murphy.
I think this is an unbelievable run for a manager
who stepped in and one Manager of the Year for
the NL last year and has made the team look
like they barely miscreat council at all. I think he
deserves a lot of credit for the team performing as
well as they are.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
It's him in those pocket pancakes.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Man. Yeah, but you're gonna do I mean the power
Friendship Power pocket Pancakes. They got a lot of good
stuff going on in Milwaukee River.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
It's crazy because their best hitter going into the year
really had an awful first half. Link Matureist was not
near what he was last year. He's really coming on
now and Yellow seems to be really coming on as well.
Andrew Vaughan has been a revelation since they got him.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
They've just got the magic touch and we know they're wild.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Exsit was absolutely loaded with talent, so they've as It's
good time to be a Brewers fan.

Speaker 4 (17:06):
I think right now, I don't really know.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
Many Brewers fans, but if you're a Brewers fan, good
for you guys. One other note here that I'll mention,
Frankie Mantas was announced today that he's moving to the
pen and there's going to be a prospect called up
and they didn't an out who that prospect was, but
Kyle the have an idea of who that might be.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
For the Mets.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
Yeah, reports are that they are looking into either Nolan
McLean or Brandon Sprote for this rotation spot. So one
way or the other, we are getting a highly anticipated
debut in the coming weeks here if the rumors are true,
look as.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
If it's Sprout or McLain. Do you think they can
make an impact down the stretch here?

Speaker 1 (17:49):
I think they definitely can. We've talked a lot on
this pot about the mechanical improvements sprod has made and
sort of the renaissance he's had in the back half
of the season. McLean has been consistent throughout, starting and
then moving his way up. I think either one of
them would be totally serviceable in the role, and I
actually think they could potentially play their way into consideration
to be one of the names the Mets call upon
in the playoffs to get starts, not just come out

(18:11):
of the bullpen. For me, though, I think you have
to give McLean a run of the two because his
sweeper is just so nasty that if you can give
him some of that major league exposure, see how hitters
do against it. If you do choose to use one
of these two out of the bullpen in the playoffs,
I think this might be his kind of audition for
a role period. Whereas Sprote, I think they're probably more
content to let him try to contend for rotation spot

(18:33):
next year. If that's what it comes down to, it's.

Speaker 4 (18:36):
An embarrassment of riches for pitching with the Mets right now.

Speaker 2 (18:40):
They've got so much depth there, so it's nice to
be able to put a guy like Mantas into the.

Speaker 4 (18:45):
Pen and bring up a guy in talented as Mcleaner's broke.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
So yeah, we're not even mentioning Joe Latong, who's running
higher than both of those guys on those lists.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
That's true. A few juries guys head to the ile
Josh Hater the left shoulders strain, Luis Severino as a
left oblique injury. Logan Henderson write elbow inflammation. Tyler O'Neill
write wrist inflammation. Chase Mydrath write with some confusion. Shane
McClanahan had surgery on his nerve issue that he's been

(19:14):
struggling with trying to come back from. He's now out
for the season. Hopefully this surgery corrects whatever issue he had.
Just teams are counting on him coming back to be
ace level and it just didn't happen for him. As
a Kore's interesting situation here, he was transferred to the
sixty day, but instead of having surgery, he's going to

(19:36):
try and rehab this injury and come back before the
season's out. Maybe it was the Carlos Carea trade that
God Hid mamped up and said, oh, I don't want surgery,
I want to I want to play. But interesting decision there.
We'll see what happens if you guys on rehabit on
their way back to help your dynasty roster down the
stretch here.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
Robert Gasser.

Speaker 2 (19:58):
I saw Robert Gaser pitch a couple of years ago
when I was super impressed. He's not ever going to
be a front of the rotation guy, but he is
just one of those depth Brewer's arms that you can
count on to get you five or six innings and
keep you in a ball game. I'm just a big
fan of his. Tyler McGill for the Mets, another arm
on his way back. Chris sailed through two innings tonight
as well, look pretty good, looks healthy coming back from

(20:22):
a rib injury. And then a few hitters on their
way back, Jack kagleone Avan Carter, and Victor Roebliss to
help their squads out. Any names there that we've mentioned
so far, you want to just discuss here, Kyle.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
I think the big one for me is Jack kagleone,
just because I think we were all a little bit
disappointed with what the day you looked like, but if
you'd look at the underlying numbers, they were a lot
better than the surface level stats. So if he comes
back and he starts, you know, launching baseballs like everybody
knows he can, I think he could be a big,

(21:00):
big factor in the second or the end of the
season here, not just for the Royals, but for fantasy lineups.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
Lucas something of those names stand out to you as
being an impact.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
For me, I think the one that's most sort of
noteworthy here in the IL Stays is the McClanahan surgery.
Not necessarily because the Rays were looking like World Series contenders,
but I think that just underscores the really rough year
that these post arm injury frontline starters have had across
the league. Like I think, we often assume that these
post Tommy John or these post internal brace guys will

(21:35):
come back and be their former sells kind of right
off the bat, But Spencer Striders looked like a rougher
version of himself. Sandy Alkintaras had a historically bad year.
Now we're seeing Naklanahan shut down with another procedure. I
think it's a good warning going into twenty twenty six
as a reminder that like when these players have surgeries
and miss over a year of game action, it is
no guarantee that they come back to ACE level status.

(21:58):
And I think when you're trying to think about even
players like Chris Sale coming back from his rib injury
later this season and you're trying to see what you're
going to get from him, I think it's really it's
really tough to predict the health and success of these
starting pitchers when they come back from really severe absences.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
That's a good good shout there. A few players activated
are now back on the field. Christian Heavier, I think
might be the biggest name on this list we're going
to talk about, but he threw last night for the Astros.
Five innings, two earned runs, five strikers, two walks. Look
pretty good. He could have a huge impact on the
stretch for the Astros. Michael King is another interesting arm

(22:31):
coming back for the Padres, who are in the thick
of a race. Spencer Araghetti also back now for the Astros.
The Astros are getting healthy here, so they're going to
be a force to be reckoned with. I think in
the final month and a half. Byron Buckston Joy going
back and forth from the al to being on the
field as always, and then a few other names here,

(22:53):
Jake Berger, Ryan Malcastle, Miguel Vargas.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
Lu Kishall.

Speaker 2 (22:56):
I love Lukashall. He's he's phenomenally does everything really really
well and andres him and as back to the Blue
Jays today, any shouts there, Kyle.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
I echo your sentiment with Luke Kishall. He's a fantastic player.
He's never going to, you know, lead Baseball probably in
any stat but he's probably always going to be in
the upper half of just about everything. He just does
everything so well.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
Lucas, anybody there you want to mention, Yeah, I was
going to touch on Kishaw also, I was going to
say that I think had he been healthy the full season,
I think it would have been him and Nick Kurts
and the Rookie of the Year battle.

Speaker 1 (23:34):
The Twins are looking for what the future of that
franchise is going to be. I think he's really making
a claim to not only be like a player they
should try to hold on too long term, but also
somebody who I think should be going a lot higher
and redraft next year than people are probably going to anticipate,
especially if he's playing at multiple positions and getting you
multiple eligibilities throughout the course of the season.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Good col a few promotions first time call ups Everson
perreiray the Rays, Kyle Kravis by the Rockies, and Drew
Gilbert by the Giants, And then a few guys getting
their second taste of major league experience Chase Dollander. Hurston
Waldroup has looked very good this season in short in
a couple of outings. Kay Caravali looked excellent as well,

(24:17):
and Jacob Belton also gets called back to the major leagues.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
Anybody you're trusting on your team's Kyle.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
Yeah, I'm looking at Hurston Waldrop here. I know he's
been a difficult name to trust with the control issues
and the inconsistencies up to this point in his career,
but there have been a couple of changes that have
really seemed to take him to another level. He's toned
down his leg kick a little bit, so he's able
to keep his mechanics a little bit more in sync

(24:45):
and it's helping him just attack the zone more consistently.
And then when Sean Murphy was down there, he reportedly
talked to Waldrop about adding a sinker to his arsenal
and that has apparently made a world of difference for
him as well, just giving hitters a bit of a
different look to the with. And we've seen the results
in the early goings of his return to the big leagues,
and even prior to the call up. I believe he

(25:06):
had a sub to eer over his last handful of starts,
so he's looked really good over the last month or two.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Here, Lucas, do you agree with that Waldrip assessment and
is there anybody else you'd want to roster on one
of your teams?

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Definitely agree with the Waldrip assessment from Kyle. I think
he's Waldrip's the only player on this list that I'm
actively starting in any of my leagues. I know I
have a couple of Gilbert and Dolander shares, but I'm
kind of waiting to see how those pan out. But
I wanted to give credit actually the tailor for our
last episode. He mentioned Everson Pereira as a possible late
season sleeper pick for people, and so I think the

(25:41):
fact that he's up with Tampa, he's hopefully going to
get a bit of a run here, especially with the
injuries that they've had. I think he's a player who's
going to benefit from just being this kind of month
and a half left in the season window where he's
not going to see very many pitchers twice, and I
think having that kind of limited exposure is really going
to allow somebody with his approach to thrive. So if
I'm in a draft league that's pretty deep and I

(26:01):
actually need some light power speed in the outfield, I
would not hesitate to at least give a bench spot
to Everson Pereira and try to ride the hot streaks
when they come. Awesome.

Speaker 2 (26:11):
A couple of players sent back to the miners, Alejandro
Osuna and Carson wizen Hunt, and then a bunch of
movement in the miners. Guys will just highlight some of
the players that have moved up the level. Jet Williams,
Ryan Clifford, Carson Bene and Jonah Toong all moved up
to Triple A for the Mets. We're seeing teams do
this more and more, where they move groups of prospects
together for continuity. Travis Bizana is now up to Triple A.

(26:36):
Max Anderson is an excellent season for the Tigers. Cooper
Ingle also up to Triple A as well, moving up
to Double A, Ralphie Velasquez, Brennan Gordon, and aj Ewings.
So some more Mets movement there. The last two guys
moving up to High A the sun Hill, Ryan Sloan,
a couple of pretty awesome talented arms, and then George

(27:00):
and then from the draft class, Andrew Fisher will be
starting in High A. And then a bunch of players
that have moved from the complex up to Single A
from the draft. We're looking at Ethan Holliday, Iva Arquette,
Jared Jones, River Hamilton cam Canerella, Luke Stevenson, Ethan Petrie, I, Irish, Katie.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
Bodin, and Beheva Alloy.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
So a lot of those top picks from mostly college bats,
the exception being Ethan Holiday moving into full season ball
to get a few weeks of experience under their belt.
Anybody you want to talk about out of any of
these promotions, Lucas.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Yeah, I think we'll mention him again a little later
on when we talk about prospects to watch for next season.
But I think that Andrew Fisher to high A promotion
is really interesting. I'm mostly curious to see where they
choose to play him in the field, because I know
he was announced as a third basement in the draft,
played mostly first base at Tennessee, and his athleticism has
kind of been a question marks alatteral movement and reflexes,

(28:01):
so people are assuming that a move to first place
is going to come down the road. So I'll be
curious to see whether they haven't split time at both
corners while he's there for the rest of the year.
But either way, a high assignment is a pretty aggressive
start for even a college bat who just got drafted
a couple of weeks ago, and so I think if
he hits the ground running, we could be looking at
a player who's going to start in DOUBLEA next year

(28:22):
and maybe even make the majors toward the tail end
of twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (28:26):
Kyle, do you have any shout outs on this list here?

Speaker 3 (28:29):
Yeah, I think that's a great call out with Andrew Fisher.
I know Drew Wheeler has been pounding the table for
Fisher since the draft and even before that. And I
think that's an awesome, awesome call out by him and
by you, Lucas. I'm just excited to see all of
these draftees finally get their shot in games that are
being tracked in these official games where we have numbers

(28:50):
because they've been playing in the backfields in the Bridge League,
but we don't really have any numbers as far as
what those look like. So the ones that I'm specifically
looking at are Ethan Holiday as one that is, you know,
one of the few prep guys that's actually getting a
chance to play in some of these official games that
we're going to get numbers for, so I think that
could really help his talk. And then I'm looking at

(29:12):
Ike Irish too because he's one that you know, slid
a little bit in the draft and there were some
rumblings about maybe some odd field.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
Stuff that caused the song.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
So I think that if he comes out and he
performs really well in this debut, he could really recover
a lot of that stock that kind of slipped away
from him prior to the draft.

Speaker 2 (29:33):
Some of these guys that are going to be in
Florida and in Single A we'll be getting some data
for as well. So looking at guys like dak kilby
Jared Jones, King Bodei and guys, we'll see kind of
how they handle would bats and and things like that.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
So this is all valuable information.

Speaker 2 (29:53):
Obviously, we don't want to we don't want to take
it too seriously. It's very small sample size, but it
is nice, as you guys mentioned, to see these guys
competing on the field against their peers.

Speaker 4 (30:08):
So lots lots of fun stuff for prospect.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
Guys like us.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
Just a few notes here on with one of the
prospects Live. Our daily sheets continue. We're now on our
third Google sheet for the Daily Sheet this year. That
tells you how many players we've talked about this season.
Just a staple for your morning to go through all
the different players that.

Speaker 4 (30:29):
Have been performing well in the minor leagues and major leagues.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
Reese is re racking his top twenties and top one
hundred lists that should start to be released this week
this coming week, and then I want high that a
few articles recent Will did a huge trade deadline analysis
piece and it just digs in deeper than just who
won the trade. It's it's talking about future value and
really where these teams see these players and how they

(30:57):
see them in the future. Joe Lowry did a very
seeing card article. It's called Trading Cards and Trading Stories,
and he talked about a very specific insert set that
focuses on the MPP cards, which is really cool. Made
Rasmussen did an awesome deep dive on switch pitcher Jerangelo Sinccha.

(31:17):
I got to see his debut in double at this
past weekend, and I definitely watched his video and read
his article before I did that, so I knew what
I was looking for and helped me sort of understand
where his strengths and weaknesses are and where his challenges
are going to be in the future. And then you
guys are writing articles like crazy as always lucas one

(31:39):
featured player from your Diamond Diplomas that you're high on.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
Sure, I think this week was a really fun one
because I highlighted a couple of pitching sort of developments
that have happened just in the past few weeks with
guys who will either change their pitch mixes or change
their roles. And the one that stands out to me
is actually for deeper leagues people who are interested in relievers.
Chase still set for the Angels has pivoted to working
out of the bullpen. Now. He's always been a stuff
over command guy, but I think seeing the results for

(32:06):
him out of the bullpen, now that he's back up
at Triple A Salt Lake City and healthy, has been interesting.
His seventeen starts with the big league club were reugh,
but as as a reliever, he's yet to give up
a run. His stuff is all ticked up a little
bit too. He's throwing about a mile per hour harder
across his arsenal. So I think he's a name to
watch for next year in the Angels closer race.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Awesome, And KYLEI you had another dice to pick up
article this past week. Is there one player you wanted
to shout out?

Speaker 3 (32:31):
Yeah, I'm going to shout out another deep league arm actually,
and one that was just traded at the deadline from
the Mets to the Orioles in Wellington. Arisena. This is
a kid with just ridiculous, ridiculous stuff. It's touching triple
digits with the fastball. It's a sixty grade cutter to
go along with it, a nasty arsenal of five pitches. Now,

(32:51):
the control is a major issue. At at twenty percent
walk rate last year, but he's cut that down to
thirteen percent overall this year and in more re months
it's down around ten to eleven percent. So Aresina moving
into the Oriols organization is one to keep an eye
on going forward.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Here awesome two good shouts Boys and a few podcasts released.
On On Deck episode twenty six, the Boys did a
prospect crush draft, so you know Drew is getting his guys,
but it was it was interesting to see. And then
their episode twenty five, Nate's mom made an appearance on
on What's on Your Mind, which was probably my favorite

(33:29):
feature that they've done so far in their whole realm
of episodes, So please check that out if you're interested
in more of the the fun side of baseball, because
mom had a.

Speaker 4 (33:40):
Lot of fun stories about Nate.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
Amateur Hour episode number seven, they took the Boys, talked
about the trade deadline, and Reese was a future guest
and Donice to pick up Boys carry on episode one
oh six. Good job Kyle and Taylor, you guys keep
pumping out the content, keep the good work.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
If you enjoy our podcast, The Dynasty Podcast, please rate

please consider subscribing to Prospects Live to take advantage of
all the amazing tools and informative articles we offer daily.
We're going to take a break here and on the
other side of that break, we're going to be looking
ahead to twenty twenty six and what we think the

(34:23):
prospect landscape will look like at that point.

Speaker 4 (34:27):
So we'll be back right after these messages.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
And we are back.

Speaker 4 (34:30):
I am Greg, I am joined by Kyle and Lucas.

Speaker 1 (34:34):
Guys.

Speaker 2 (34:34):
We've had a lot of movement at the top of
our top six hundred prospect list, a lot of graduations,
a lot of shifting I've taken place over the first four.

Speaker 4 (34:43):
Months of the season.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
We've updated our list every month so far the season,
and we want to look ahead to twenty twenty six.
We're going to go ahead twelve months from now to
the middle of August and twenty twenty six and see where.

Speaker 4 (34:58):
We have the top players of each position.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
So we went through this exercise and we've got some
good names here and we'll have some good discussion and
we picked one player each for each position, so we'll
kind of go through at Gosmer start as always at catcher,
our favorite position. Kyle wanting to start us off with
who you think might be the top ranked catching prospect
in August of twenty twenty six.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
So I'm looking here at newly acquired Minnesota Twins catching
prospect Eduardo Tajit, And the main thing here is the
power for tight. He's in hig A now, but while
he was with Philly in single A, we were getting
some stack cast data because he was in Florida there,
and he posted a max ev of nearly one hundred

(35:43):
and fourteen miles an hour along with a ninetieth percentile
ev of one oh five. Just tremendous, tremendous power for
a kid that is only just about to turn nineteen
in a couple of weeks here. And then you look
at the fact that he's actually running a k rate
below twenty percent as well, which is absolutely insane, because
if there's something that's going to hold him back from

(36:05):
reaching his ceiling as the top catching prospect in the game,
it is his approach. He is very, very aggressive. But
when you are able to get the bat on the
ball as often as he does and hit the ball
as hard as he does, as often as he does.
It's hard to tell the kid to stop swinging so much.
I think that he if he starts to get challenged

(36:27):
with that approach, he can lock in and really start
to show a more patient approach. I think that's something
that's going to come with time. Eventually he's going to
get challenged to a point where that needs to happen.
But right now, he's our fourth ranked catcher at Prospects Live.
He's our seventy first overall prospect, and I think as
he continues to move up the levels, he's just going

(36:47):
to continue moving up our list.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
Good shout there, Lucas. Who who do you think is
can be the top ranked catcher.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
In one ear So I'm actually going to double down
with a player we talked about in our July of
the Month podcast with Rainelle Rodriguez for the Saint Louis Cardinals.
I know whether he sticks at catcher over the next
decade is probably a question mark, but I think the
fact that they haven't played him anywhere else on the
diamond besides catcher and DH for now is a good sign.

(37:15):
I don't want to tread too much on what we
talked about last week aside like things like his really
impressive pulled fly ball rate, things like his really impressive
walk rate and his outside the zone contact. But the
one thing I think that really distinguishes Rodriguez from somebody
like Tait, who I do also like, is he is
immune to platoon splits. Tait really struggles against lefties this year.
He's hitting under the mendos the line against them. But

(37:37):
Rodriguez has a twelve hundred hps against left handed pitching
and that's over forty five at bats, so not a
tiny sample size. Obviously, he's going to face better left
handed pitching as he moves up. He's only in single
A for now, but I think at eighteen years old,
his bat is doing just about everything you could ask
for at the position. And I think the Cardinals have
shown with with guys like Crooks and Bernald, they're willing

(37:58):
to give a really long leash in the mind leagues
to players to try to earn the right to stay
a catcher. So we'll see, I think, I think Rodriguez
and how it's going to be a fun battle to watch.

Speaker 2 (38:06):
Though. I'm gonna add to our trio of teenage catchers here,
and my guy is Alfredo Duno of the Reds just
a huge, huge human being. He's listed at six two
two ten. I can tell you he's taller and bigger
than that from standing beside him in person, just to

(38:27):
he crushes the baseball as well. He that We actually
have data for him from the Florida State League. He's
got a one eleven max in a one oh five
ninetieth evuh and he's not really even figured out how
to tap into his power directly. His his ISO is

(38:47):
just at one seventy eight right now, in his eleven
percentage is only at four forty nine. So I think
once he starts to learn how to really elevate the baseball,
I think we're going to see a guy that's going
to be right up there with the discussion with the
two gentlemen that you who both brought up. So it's
gonna be a fun race for catcher because we're gonna

(39:08):
have some graduations. But I think we all kind of
agree that the Samuel Bissio, who's the current top ranked catcher,
will probably graduate, Jose Persaniel may not be a catcher
going forward, and Moyses Biasteros he's my third rank catcher
right now, I think we hope he'll be graduated by
this point. He's been up and down quite a bit

(39:29):
this season, but there's some fun young catchers coming up
in the minor leagues. Did you guys want to shout
just a dark horse each? We won't go into too
much depth there, but Kyle he went you have a
dark horse.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
I'm gonna shout out Marco Dingis of the Brewers here.
He was super under the radar coming into the year,
dealt with an immune deficiency disorder in twenty twenty three.
When he came back in twenty twenty four, he could
really only DH because he was still a little bit limited,
but he put up a great year. He's having a
fantastic year in the minors now. Unfortunately it's been cut

(40:03):
a little bit short due to injury as well. He's
only played about sixty games. He's got nine bombs and
a one sixty nine WRC plus between Loway and Hie,
I think he's going to start the year in double
A next year and he's just going to keep rising.

Speaker 4 (40:16):
Awesome, Lucas, did you have a dark horse?

Speaker 1 (40:19):
I do love dings A. That's a great call, but
I think if I had to pick somebody from the
most recent crop of catcher draftees. For example, it's actually
neither of the two college premier catchers with Bodine and
I irish she both went to Baltimore. I would actually
lean towards Michael Olavito is a real dark horse for Detroit.
The Tigers have shown the real proclivity for these blue
chip prep hitters. Super smart kid was a Yale commit.

(40:42):
Does Rubik's cubes for fun. I think he's really going
to mess well with the kind of self aware development
style that the Detroit sort of like hitting philosophy takes
in the minor leagues. And it's probably a long shot,
but I think of any of those catchers drafted a
few weeks ago, I think Olevedo has a real shot
to soar up rankings. I love that.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
Kind of in my mind they had Drake Balder a
little bit. I just kind of put that together interesting.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
I like it. I like it.

Speaker 2 (41:06):
Yeah, my dark horses Raniell Rodriguez. We've already talked about him,
and Lucas did a good job on that. So we're
gonna move on to first base. Guys, Lucas will start
with you this time. I think you and Kyle are
on the same line here, So Lucas tell me hear
you're thinking for first base.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
Yeah, I think Kyle and I both agree that Joswei
Presina is probably going to move off of catcher and
move to first base. This year, his playing time has
been split pretty much even he has thirty two games
behind the dish twenty seven at first base. He's also
got a good number at DH as well, so they're
really just trying to get his bat in the lineup whenever,
which makes sense because he has done nothing but hit.
This is a guy who's still just twenty years old.

(41:44):
He won the Arizona Fall League Triple Crown last year
and no one has ever done that. He is the
first person to ever lead days EFL and average home
runs and RBIs. He had ten homers, hit four thirty
three and drove in twenty seven and he's putting up
similar numbers this year. He's hitting two seventy eight three
ninety five with an of nine forty four. He has
nineteen bombs in the season already. Wouldn't surprise me if
he had a hot August in September and got to

(42:06):
twenty five or even thirty, he's probably gonna move up
along with McGonagall and Clark in this kind of cohort
of the top prospects for the Tigers. And I think
as he gets closer to the majors and as they
try to find a way to get his bat major
league ready, I think first base is probably going to
be an easier transition for him, and so I would
imagine that's what they look to do next year, and
I could very easily see him being the top player

(42:27):
at the position and getting talked about kind of the
way we talk about Bryce eldridg Right.

Speaker 2 (42:30):
Now, Kyle, you also had Bracegno as the top first
base prospect for next year.

Speaker 3 (42:36):
Anything to add, Yeah, I just don't think people are
realizing how good the tools are here, Like this is
a fifty to fifty five grade hit tool, at least
sixty grade power. And maybe it's the fact that he
is still getting labeled as a catcher and that scares
some people off in the prospect world, But I think
when you look at the fact that they've got Dyron Lorenzo,

(42:57):
who's a pretty similar profile, but he's ahead a level already,
I think he's going to be the one that sticks
at catcher for the time being, and I think that
kind of, as Lucas alluded to, as soon as Bryce
Eldridge graduates, host Way Rosano needs to be in the
conversation for the top first base prospect in the game.

Speaker 2 (43:15):
I agree with you, guys. I think he's he's going
to be a stud. It's going to be a big,
slugging first baseman, a lot of home runs, a lot
of RBIs. I went off the board a little bit
with mine, and I maybe cheated a little bit. Edward
Florentino is going to be my call on this one.
He's only played nine games of first base, but I
think it could be his future home or maybe even
a partial split between the outfield.

Speaker 4 (43:37):
That's sort of how he's been played this year.

Speaker 2 (43:39):
But he's a big guy, six foot four, two hundred pounds,
so maybe you want to keep him off his feet
a little bit. But he's having an unreal season, guys.
He's he's a great contact header, he's showing power. He's
just eighteen years old right now. He's almost got a
ninety percent zone contact rate and he's got a ninety
TV of one oh four. He's another guy that we

(43:59):
have date.

Speaker 4 (44:00):
Florida State League. He's just a fun player.

Speaker 2 (44:03):
He has risen up all of our prospect lists quite
a bit this season. So I'll give that show and
I think we're seeing it is probably the best call.
But but yeah, what about some dark horses, guys, Lucas
real quick before we jump into dark horses.

Speaker 1 (44:22):
I had a really interesting trade deadline interaction with another
manager over the weekend where a trade of Edward Florentino
for Cooper Pratt straight up was turned down by the
Florentino owner. So it's suffice to say he has definitely
climbed up rankings list over the course of twenty twenty five.
Dark horse for first base for me is the guy
we already touched on, Andrew Fisher out of Tennessee, the

(44:42):
Milwaukee draftee. They took him twentieth overall. Already talked about
how I think his trajectory could place him in the
majors toward the tail end of twenty twenty six, which
already is a great sign given that he's starting at
high A. But the other thing is just Milwaukee does
a tremendous job of maximizing power and maximizing mechanical efficiency
with their hit We've seen that with just about everybody
in their loaded farm system, and so I think if

(45:04):
anybody's going to be able to really make his fifty
hit tool play up and help him potentially be a
thirty plus home run the year bat in the majors,
it's going to be Milwaukee.

Speaker 2 (45:13):
Awesome, Kyle.

Speaker 3 (45:14):
Of course, I love the Andrew Fisher call. If Lucas
hadn't gotten there first, I probably would have had him here.
But I'm actually looking at Ralphie Velaskez, and he's a
bat that I've liked for a long time. I had
him ranked as high as fifty seven overall in my
personal ranks at the end of last year. But it's
really been a tale of two kind of two seasons

(45:35):
for Velaskaz so far this year. To start things off,
he had just a two hundred, two eighty one four
hundred triple slash through the midway point of June, but
from June seventeenth on he is slashing three oho one,
three seventy four, five fifty four with just an eighteen
percent strikeout rate, all while posting the best contact rates

(45:56):
of his career and earning himself a promotion to double A.
So I think that this is a guy that while
the overall numbers still don't look great on the year,
you really have to look at what he's done first
half versus second half and take into account the strides
that he's made this year awesome.

Speaker 2 (46:12):
He was also the guy that I had as my
my dark horse for first base. We see some guys
we mentioned Elriche already, he'll probably be graduated by this point.

Speaker 1 (46:22):
C J.

Speaker 2 (46:22):
K Fiss will probably be graduated by this point. Tyler
Lockley will probably be graduated by this point. So it
kind of opens up first base quite a bit, and
there's quite a few names we could probably list here
in this conversation.

Speaker 4 (46:34):
I would hope Jonathan Long will.

Speaker 2 (46:35):
Be graduated by this point, but who knows what's going
on with Chicago. But it's an interesting conversation anyways. Let's
move on to second base now. Kyle will go back
to you. Who is your your pick for the top
second baseman in one year's time?

Speaker 3 (46:52):
So here I picked Michael Arroyo. And I think that
this is a package of really good but not great tools,
which at second base is probably enough in and of
itself because there are just so many players who might
be above him on this list that aren't playing second
base yet, so we don't know who's going to be,
you know, above him when all is said and done
at the position. But then when you look at what

(47:14):
he's done this year, he's been incredibly impressive. He's posted
a one forty seven WRC plus between HIA and now
double A. He's got seventeen home runs. He's showing really
strong plate discipline, good contact metrics, and he's doing it
all at just twenty years old. And you start to
realize that while he is already our fourth ranked second
basement twenty eighth overall, it seems like you can continue

(47:36):
to rise and maybe, you know, maybe not flirt with
top ten by this time next year overall, but he
might be a top fifteen to twenty prospect by the
end of twenty twenty six.

Speaker 4 (47:48):
That's a good one for sure. He reminds me about
two Bay.

Speaker 2 (47:51):
Honestly, I don't think he'll be as good as Altuve,
but he's that size and stature, and he's got great
plate press. I watched him on Saturday night and he
didn't really have any hits or anything, but he just
managed the strike zone really really well, So I like,
I like what he does out there, Lucas, what do
you think about second base?

Speaker 1 (48:12):
I always forget how young Michael Royo is. I can't
believe he's twenty. When you said that, I actually like
a double take, Like what that's very impressive for me though,
for second base, it's going to be Louis Pana. He's
been basically splitting time with hayesus Made kind of across
the infield. If we look at their their fielding splits.
The pain has played twenty games second, thirty four at short,

(48:34):
so about forty percent of the time he's seeing second base,
whereas haysus Made is only played second base for nine
games this season. So it looks like they prefer Moday
at short for now, which is more than fine by
me because I think Louis Pania has the potential of
being a top two or three dynasty second basement when
all said and done. He's having a really incredible year,
kept off by hitting I believe his ninth home run,
eight to nine home run this evening. He's hitting three zero, four,

(48:56):
three seventy five with an ops of eight fifty six.
He's already up in a at just eighteen years old,
forty one steals on the year. For me, he has
met and exceeded every expectation that people set for Hasus
Mayde coming into the year, and so I think I'm
pretty hard to argue with him not just being the
number one overall second basement prospect at this time next year,

(49:17):
but also potentially the number one overall prospect next year.

Speaker 2 (49:20):
Ooh, interesting, I cheated again, guys. I'm gonna go with
Kevin McGonagall as my second baseman.

Speaker 4 (49:28):
He has a shortstop right now.

Speaker 2 (49:29):
He's only played one game in second base this year,
but I think with a short stop. We're going to
talk about it in our next conversation here. I think
the Tigers will move McGonagall over to second base. He's
a good he's he's an okay fielding shortstop. I just
think he fits really well at second base with their future.

(49:49):
And he's he's a phenomenal hitter. He's sitting three thirty two,
four seventy seven this year. He's got two home runs tonight.
Thank you Lucas for tweeting that out.

Speaker 4 (50:02):
He just he puts the bat on the ball. He
walks more than he strikes out.

Speaker 2 (50:06):
His ISO is two forty five this year for a
guy that's legitimately five foot nine, tremendous bat speed, he
hits the ball at idl angles. I just love everything
he does. I love his competitive fire. You think Max
Clark is the most competitive guy on that minor league team,
it might be McGonagall. He wants to be the best
hitter in the game, and I love it. I love

(50:29):
his ferocious attitude, so I'll go with him. Maybe they
don't make the switch next year, but I think eventually
down the road he will be a second basement. Some
dark horses, Go ahead, Lucas with your dark horse.

Speaker 1 (50:44):
Mine is a very dark horse. It is aj Ewing,
who I don't think probably would show up on many
people's top second basement in the minor league world lists.
But for me, I just think that this is been
a really big year of growth for him. He's only
had three home runs, but sixty stolen bases and just
got from to double a while running pretty excellent in
zone contact rates really really solid with percentages, walk rates,

(51:06):
strikeout rates, just showing a really mature approach for somebody
who just turned twenty one. I think you're never going
to get twenty home runs from aj Ewing, but I
think there's a legitimate chance he could actually steal sixty
bases in the major leagues. He is that fast, and
I think he could be what people thought the Luis
song al Kunya was going to be for the Mets
this year.

Speaker 4 (51:24):
Awesome, Kyle, what about your dark horse?

Speaker 3 (51:27):
I love the Ewing shout, but I don't think he's
even going to be the second the best second base
prospect in his own system, because I'm looking at Mitch
Voit here, who so far in his young pro career
he has split time between second and shortstop, two games
at each position. Though way too early to read into
any of the numbers, but this is a player that,
while I don't think he's quite on the same level

(51:48):
of talent as a Carson Bench, there's a lot of
similarities here in that voice is also a former two
way player, and the Mets clearly like that profile and
do really well with that profile. And if they can
get him to take similar strides to what Bench has
this year, then Voight is going to be a very
fast riser in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 2 (52:08):
Interesting shouts, boys love it. Mine is another dark dark
horse here. Run Escobar at the Phillies. He's placed some
second and third, maybe a little bit more second. This
year really showed well in single A clear water. Good
ax of velocity is good contact rates. He struggled a
little bit moving up to Hi A. The contact rates

(52:31):
have dropped a little bit, just making the adjustment. He's
only twenty years old. There's lots of time. But I
just think he's an exciting player and I think he
could he will rise rankings in the coming year. Hey guys,
let's move on to third base. We're gonna start with Kyle.
Who's your number one third base prospects for twenty twenty six.

Speaker 3 (52:54):
Yeah, I'm looking at Ethan Holiday here. Recently drafted Ethan Holiday,
And if you had asked me this even a week
or two ago, I don't know that I would have
picked him, because coming into the FYPD cycle, I really
wasn't the biggest fan of Holiday. I had heard some
rumblings of maybe a suboptimal batpath and maybe some trouble

(53:15):
with velocity. But now I'm starting to hear rumblings of
maybe some swing changes that are really helping him get
to those pitches that were previously causing problems for him.
And while I'm not a big fan of him falling
into the Rockies development situation, Coors is still a great
home ballpark. And when you have Matt Holliday as your

(53:35):
father and Jackson Holiday as your brother, Ethan probably has
some pretty good resources at his disposal where he's not
just going to be relying on the Rockies development. So
then you look at this all and you top it
off with the fact that Chris Welsh just announced, as
we discussed earlier, that Ethan Holiday is going to be

(53:55):
making his debut in single A. I think that that's
going to give him a leg up on a lot
of the other prep competition that he's got right now,
and it's going to help him really rise through the
ranks even just the end of this year, let alone
the head start that that gives him on next year.

Speaker 4 (54:13):
Awesome Lucas third base.

Speaker 1 (54:18):
So I'm pulling at Greg on this one, and not
just because I'm talking about Sebastian Walcott, but because I'm
suggesting a position change. I think it's unlikely, but I'm
going to plant a tiny flag on the possibility of
Sebastian Walcott moving to third base, at least for his
initial exposure to the major leagues and it gets into
Triple A, which will probably happen relatively early on next season.
I would imagine he's already had sixteen starts at the

(54:40):
position this year, so they're giving him a not negligible
amount of time at the hot corner, and I mean
his line on the year countings that wise, we're still
kind of waiting for him to heat up a little bit.
Eleven home runs twenty four steals are both good numbers,
but only hitting two forty on the season, I'm wondering
if the next logical step for his development is to
actually take a little bit of the load off in
terms of his defensive responsibilities, let him focus on maybe

(55:04):
maximizing his plate approach. And I think playing third base
would potentially allow him to do that, So I wouldn't
be surprised if the Rangers at least maybe had him
split time there next season and got eligibility pretty quickly.
If he does debut.

Speaker 2 (55:17):
Awesome, you can't go wrong with the bashet of Walcott.

Speaker 1 (55:19):
He's one of my favorites.

Speaker 2 (55:21):
I want a different direction, guys, and I picked a
guy that I didn't even realize how good a season.

Speaker 4 (55:26):
He was having and it's Brock Wilkin.

Speaker 2 (55:28):
We know last year he got hit in the face
by a pitch and it pretty much ended his season.
He just didn't look the same after that. He's never
going to be a batting average guy. He's hitting two
thirty at the moment, but he's going to be that
three true outcome type player and that's okay. At third base,
I think he's got a twenty percent walk right. He

(55:49):
does have a passive approach. He does take a lot
of pitches. He's got a twenty six percent strikeout right
because of it. But he does have at home runs
and we know if this is a thirty plus home
run bat when he's healthy and going.

Speaker 4 (56:02):
He showed that in college.

Speaker 2 (56:05):
And he's got a one to seventy six w RC
plus in the league that he's playing in, so he's
he's playing in the Southern League. So when you look
at his numbers, I mean, they don't look they're not
outstanding numbers overall if you were to compare it to
maybe some of the other leagues in the minors. But
Asian home runs in the Southern League is legit because
we don't have the most the most difficult league to

(56:25):
hit him in the minor leagues, which would tell you
why is w RC plus is so high. So again
three two outcome type player, but our an OBP league,
he helps you a ton. So I'm like in Rock Wilkin,
all right, Lucas, we'll go back to you. Who's your
dark horse third base?

Speaker 1 (56:42):
Dark horse third base for me Isavir and Naands For
the Houston Astros, I think there are a lot of
sort of bigger body power first prep options to choose here,
but I think I picked Nams in Houston because they
have a great track record. When they do dip into
the prep hitter ranks in their first or second round picks,
they don't do it very often. In fact, I was
trying to dig back through and see exactly what their

(57:02):
track record was with this kind of player, and the
two names that they've taken in the last ten or
fifteen years this early out of the prep ranks have
been Kyle Tucker and Carlos Korea, so two pretty good
names to land on for an organization. I think the
Crawford boxes are just something to dream on for him
with that power in the left field. He's bigger guy
at six' four SO i don't think he's going to
stick at shortstop long. Term my guess is they probably

(57:24):
give him some run at at to begin the. Year
BUT i think there's a decent chance that if the
bat heats, up he gets into a HIGH a or
perhaps even DOUBLE a by this time next, year and
he's really hitting for. POWER i think we could see
him as the top third base prospect in. Baseball he's
got a ton of.

Speaker 2 (57:38):
POWER i was able to watch him at the high
school hor mend every last, year and he was putting
the balls in the upper deck with a little bit of,
bat but he was crushing. Balls it was fun to Watch.
Kyle who's your dark horse third?

Speaker 3 (57:50):
BASEMENT i just want to, say first names looks like
a ton of. FUN i love that. Shout i'm going
to stick with THE fypd class And i'm actually going
back To texas here where If walcott doesn't move off of,
shortstop this is another current shortstop who might end up as,
his you, know left side of the infield partner at
third base In Gavin fihen in a few. YEARS i

(58:11):
just think that this is a tremendous package of above
average tools with the potential to get to plus, power
AND i don't think that a lot of people are
necessarily considering him as one of the potential top third
base prospects in a year or. Two BUT i think
he's got the ability to rise really quickly despite the
fact that he is just a prep draftee. HERE i

(58:34):
Think Gavin fien is one that is going to be
a really good value in fypds coming up this.

Speaker 2 (58:40):
Offseason one hundred percent agree with, You. KYLE i love that.

Speaker 4 (58:44):
Show i'm gonna go With Geno groover of The Arizona.

Speaker 2 (58:48):
Diamondbacks did you guys know that he was teammates With
Charlie condon in high.

Speaker 1 (58:51):
School, no that's. Awesome that is.

Speaker 2 (58:54):
Amazing, yeah that's two phenomenal players in the same. Team
we learned that when we're at the futures. Game But
Luke James gruver is just an all around good baseball.
Player he's not going to be a slugging third, baseman
so he's got a little bit of a different. Profile
but he's a high, contact high lbp type, guy and
we're hoping that we can grow into a little bit of.

(59:15):
Power he's got a six two to twelve, frame so
that tells me that it's possibly in there for, him
but just an all around good. Hitter maybe not top
top prospect that third base, material BUT i just like
the solid all around game that he. Provides, okay, guys
shortstop mostly position, Here lucas will start with, you who

(59:39):
do you think will be the top shortstop? Prospect you
could go any different.

Speaker 1 (59:42):
Direction, here, Honestly so Before pirates fans get mad at,
Me i'm assuming the name people want to hear is
not going to be playing shortstop full time next, Year
So i'm actually gonna go With Colt emerson for The Seattle.
Mariners colt has quietly HAD i think the season everybody
wanted him to. Have coming end of the. Year he's
up to twelve home runs and six steals fitting two

(01:00:02):
seventy six three eighty one with an eight to twenty nine.
Ops he's an elite defender at, shortstop SO i have
zero concerns about him being moved off of that long.
Term his power is taking a huge step. Forward he
only had two home runs in his two or four
home runs in his first ninety four pro games between
twenty twenty three and twenty twenty, four and he's already
up to twelve in ninety six games this. Season SO i,
think as in his age twenty, season this is exactly

(01:00:24):
what we want to see in terms of the evolution
of his offensive. Game we know the contact skills are,
there we know the glove is. There if the power
really can turn into a twenty home run a year
bad at the shortstop, position he's going to be a fantasy.

Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
Monster, YES i, Agree AND i saw him the home
run On saturday night and it was crushed a cheap.

Speaker 1 (01:00:43):
Shot with, that it wasn't a cheap, shot was.

Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
It it was.

Speaker 1 (01:00:47):
Not it was Not.

Speaker 2 (01:00:50):
Kyle who do you think will be the top shortstop
prospect in twenty twenty?

Speaker 3 (01:00:54):
Six SO i do still think it's going to Be.
GRIFFIN i think he's going to continue being classified as
a short. Stop but if we're working Under lucas's assumption
that he's moving off the, position there are a number
of different ways you can. Go you could Go Devrez,
walcott not A, paania but a number of these guys
could move off the. Position AND i want to take
a look At Bryce rayner here BECAUSE i was really

(01:01:16):
outspoken from day one IN fypd season THAT i didn't
think the gap Between griffin And rayner was as big
as some people made it out to. Be and While
griffin has completely run away with the, Race rayner was
doing an excellent job keeping up and moving up the
ranks With griffin up until that season ending. INJURY i
think if he had stayed, healthy he might be right

(01:01:39):
there in the top ten to twenty of prospects in
all of. Baseball this is a, KID i, think with
a lot more upside than he was originally given credit,
for and we started to see some of that upside
shine through while he was. Playing he's also got what
was thought to be a much safer hit tool Than Connor. Griffin,
now Obviously griffin has been tremendous in that, regard we

(01:01:59):
can't take anything away from, him But rainer is also
a more surefire, shortstop AND i think that when you
blend the upside that he brings with that safety of
his ability to stick at the position and his ability
to put the bat on the, ball this is a
kid who is going to really quickly rise up the
ranks again next. Year AND i won't be shocked, if
LIKE i, said we are talking about him not only

(01:02:20):
as the top, shortstop but he top ten prospect in
twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
Six, awesome good call, there.

Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
GUYS i Guess i'll go With, Connor griffins And somene
that you wanted. To he's he's a. Specimen he's he's filled,
out he is learning, still and he's just he's an amazing.
Talent there was always questions about the hit. Tool there
have not been questions this season about. It he's got
max ev of one, fourteen a ninetyeth of one oh.

(01:02:48):
Seven he's fielded the position well. SHORTSTOP i mean he'll
fill the position well in center and at, shortstop so
it doesn't really matter where they put. Him it just
kind Of christopher's going to figure it out what they
want to. Do but he wants to play. Shortstop that's
what he told. ME i love the.

Speaker 4 (01:03:07):
PLAYER i just, YEAH i think he.

Speaker 1 (01:03:12):
Sticks so we'll.

Speaker 2 (01:03:13):
See we'll see what. Happens it could go a number
of different. Directions, lucas who do you have as your
dark horse for?

Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
Shortstop i'll keep it. BRIEF i could talk about this
guy for an, hour BUT i Think Jojan parker of
all the recent draftees probably has the best chance of
kind of rising to the top. QUICKLY i. DON'T i
think obviously The Eli willetts argument could be made long,
term same With Billy. Carlson BUT i just think the
combination of, hint tool and power we're going to see
From parker out of the gate when he hits affiliated,
ball it's going to be really. Impressive, Awesome, kyle who

(01:03:43):
do you?

Speaker 3 (01:03:43):
Have you Know Lucas as A jays, FAN i absolutely
love that neither me Or greg had to shout Out
Jojo parker. Here thank you for doing, that especially as
A yankees. Fan that is fantastic to. Hear But i'm
actually going to jump over to my podcast, Partner Taylor's
giant and look At Joe bard To Jesus gonzalez because
WHILE i know that the stats in THE dsl haven't

(01:04:05):
been eye, POPPING i listened to the recent episode of
The Prospect Promotion incentive podcast where they Had chris Klag
on And craig was talking about the fact that all
of the feedback On josmart has been absolutely stellar coming
out of THE dsl this, year from scattering reports to.
DATA i believe What clegg said was something along the

(01:04:25):
lines of this being the closest to what he was
hearing About jesus made at this time last. Year so
while the numbers don't quite match up with that level of,
HEIGHT i think that this is a player who maybe
in the off season when some of that data starts
becoming more, public and maybe not until next season when
we see him. Stateside But gonzalez Jos bard To Jesus

(01:04:46):
gonzalez is going to be a really big riser coming
up in the next few months and the coming year.

Speaker 2 (01:04:53):
Awesome i'm going to go with a guy that has
not really had a great, Season George, Lombard Junior. Yankees
he's been pushed, aggressively no, doubt The yankees have really
moved him up Into DOUBLE, a and it's not been
a great season for. Him BUT i Just i'm going
to count on the. Tools i'm going to bank on

(01:05:13):
the tools and, uh he's got he's got, power AND
i think the hit tool will come. Along AND i
just think he with The, YANKEES i think he's know.

Speaker 1 (01:05:23):
What they're doing as.

Speaker 2 (01:05:23):
WELL i think they're going to continue to develop him
to the point where he becomes a very very good.

Speaker 4 (01:05:28):
Shortstop so, again this this is.

Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
The position where you could. Pick we could have named
twenty guys and they would all kind of fit this.
Conversation so all, right AT's move to the outfield. Here
we'll start with, You, lucas who do you think is
going to be the top outfield prospect In august of twenty?

Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
Six, WELL i had to put him, somewhere and it
wasn't going to be as the top pitcher next, Year
so it's going to Be Connor griffin for. ME i
think he's already shown Some Web gen caliber defense when
he does play center, field AND i think it's going
to be interesting to see what The pirates choose to.
Do we've talked at length about the sort of different
options they're going to, have BUT i wouldn't be shocked
at all if he ended up moving to the outfield

(01:06:07):
at least halftime next. Year AND i think if he,
does potentially at least with his athleticism and his, speed
potentially could be A Gold club defender in centerfield if
he really committed to learning the. Position AND i think
with the way O'Neil cruz's defense has looked in recent,
MEMORY i wouldn't be surprised if The pirates thought that
was more valuable for the team long. Term SO i
think Potentially griffin moves out, there he brings his number

(01:06:29):
one overall prospect status to the outfield and just secures
top outfielder status as.

Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
Well, Awesome, kyle who's your number one.

Speaker 3 (01:06:36):
Outfielder i'm looking at Host Way dapaula, here and it's
a little bit of a boring pick because he's currently
our number one outfield. Prospect he's a top ten prospect.
Overall but all you really need to know about To
paula is that our scouts gave him a sixty grade
hit tool seventy grade power when we ran through The dodgers,
system and despite just a forty five grade on his,

(01:06:58):
speed he's surpassed twenty five of stolen bases for the
second straight year and should cross thirty with relative ease this.
YEAR i think he's a very complete fantasy, package AND
i think it's going to be really hard for anybody
else to catch up to him at the.

Speaker 2 (01:07:13):
Position he's incredibly talented.

Speaker 4 (01:07:16):
Hitter so that's a really good call.

Speaker 2 (01:07:17):
There i'm going to go with a guy WHO i
think can maybe not quite be What Connor griffin, is
BUT i think he can be that type of, player
and That's Johnny fermelo of The Seattle.

Speaker 1 (01:07:29):
Mariners we have.

Speaker 2 (01:07:31):
Not seen him healthy for a full season yet and
as a, pro BUT i think all the tools and
skills are there to be the power speed combination that
That Connor griffin is. Showing he can hit the ball
a long. Way Greg, grady he's we know he can.
Run he's just got to come off his injury and
get that confidence back to be able to. RUN i,

(01:07:54):
mean he's put up A wrc plus a one thirty
two and he's only just me back from his.

Speaker 4 (01:08:00):
Injuries SO i like him a.

Speaker 2 (01:08:03):
Lot i've always been a big fan of. Him and
he can go get in center as, well SO i
think he'll be a good outfielder when all said and
done as.

Speaker 4 (01:08:11):
Well actually that was my Dark. CORSE i skipped, ahead.

Speaker 2 (01:08:17):
Guys my my top outfielder is actually Another dodgers from
him As. EDUARDOCNTARO i don't know where he ranks on
our on our list as far as top outfielders, go
but HE i know he's right out there and he's
really risen our. Ranks The dodgers have a wealth of outfields.

(01:08:39):
Prospects he's currently hitting two ninety seven awight for the
season with fourteen home runs and forty stolen. Bases this
is a very fantasy friendly. Profile he has a good
played approach as, well sixteen percent walk right in just
the twenty two percent strikeout. RATE i think it's going
to be between him And Joe sway sort of who's

(01:08:59):
going to be that top outfield prospect for The dodgers going.
Forward so, SORRY i skipt the head, boys but there's
there's my two, Guys. Lucas who is your dark?

Speaker 1 (01:09:10):
Horse my dark horse for the? Outfield the very concise
pitch Is Nate george Is, Baltimore Brightce terrang all, Right,
kyle who's your dark?

Speaker 3 (01:09:24):
Horse real quick BEFORE i get into, Mine, GREG i
just took a look at our ranks And kintaro is
currently our fourth overall. Outfielder. Okay my dark horse, pick,
though Is Devin taylor of The. Athletics ANOTHER fypd name
That i'm finding myself getting really really excited. ABOUT i
think this is, averager better hit plus or better, power

(01:09:45):
AND i think how we feel About, sorry how he
fell to The athletics in the second round at pick
forty eight is just beyond. Me he's already made his
debut in SINGLE a this. Year it's just six, games
but he's been putting up video game numbers very. Quickly
two to ONE wrc plus two home. Runs it's like
a three to five to six slash. Line AND i
think similar To Gavin fihen WHO i mentioned, Earlier Devin

(01:10:08):
taylor is going to be a fantastic value DURING fypd.

Speaker 1 (01:10:11):
Season AWESOME.

Speaker 2 (01:10:15):
A lot to wrap up the, hitters. Guys so we'll
move on to the arms. Now lucas will start with.
You who is your pick to be the top starting
pitcher prospect In august of twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
Six this was actually the hardest choice for, ME i,
think of all the positions to have to figure out
and predict the future for twenty twenty, SIX i ended
up going With Seth, fernandez the prep pariety who The
pirates took in the first round just recently in the.
Draft he was our number two draft prospect of Prospects
live going into the, draft AND i think pretty much
landed in the best possible spot for. Him The pirates

(01:10:50):
have a great track record with developing prep arms of
A Chandler anthony sol the meadow really just arms in.
GENERAL i Know skens probably doesn't need to be considered
a developmental project any stretch of the. Imagination but The
pirates do really well with their pitching, prospects SO i
think most people were pretty excited for the Set fernandez.
Fit this is a guy with the potential for three
legitimately plus. Pitches his change up in fastball could flash

(01:11:12):
double plus as. Well the one thing THAT i really
think is impressive About hernandez is kind of Like Ryan
sloan last, Year you're not really waiting for the stuff
to take a step forward as a Pro like you're
not looking for a lot more physical projection or like
some huge mechanical. Overhaul you're really just hoping that he
kind of improves pitchability as he gets, older and that
he's able to sort of like work on the finer

(01:11:33):
points of, pitching like sequencing and like just the strategy
he takes within at. Bats AND i think The pirates
are going to be really helpful for setting him up with.

Speaker 2 (01:11:40):
Success there awesomew who did you select as your top?

Speaker 3 (01:11:45):
Armor SO i selected someone That lucas actually just mentioned
In Ryan sloan. Here and WHILE i think the fit
For hernandez In pittsburgh is. Fantastic maybe the only better
landing spot for him might have been Where sloane landed
last year In Satle. Battle and the Reason i'm Picking
sloan here is, because similar to What lucas just alluded,
To i'm not sure there is a better blend of

(01:12:07):
current stuff and pitchability with remaining projection anywhere in minor league.
Baseball he's the entire year In SINGLE a to this,
point just got a late promotion too HIGH a. Here
his three point FOR era isn't necessarily going to jump
off the page at, you but HIS fip is below
three and he's rocking a stellar twenty two PERCENT k

(01:12:30):
minus walk.

Speaker 1 (01:12:30):
Rate.

Speaker 3 (01:12:31):
NOW i wrote up his fantasy spin For The Mariner's
top twenty rankings back In, april AND i noted that
at the time he was just outside of our top one.
Hundred he could very well end the year inside the top,
FIFTY i, Said and as of our latest update, here
he sits at forty five, overall and based on the
fact THAT i Know i'm moving him up in my,

(01:12:52):
RANKINGS i think we could see him approaching top twenty
five territory maybe with our last update of the, year
and certainly getting in to the first the conversation for
top pitching prospect by this time next, year if for
no other reason than the fact that he is currently
our Eleventh ranke pitching, prospect and by my, estimation at

(01:13:13):
least six or seven of the names ahead of him
on that list should be graduating by this time next,
year so it clears a big runway for names like
A Ryan, sloan A Thomas, white A Seth. Hernandez BUT
i Think Ryan sloan's the guy that's going to take
that top pitching prospect in the Game, moniker by the
end of twenty twenty.

Speaker 2 (01:13:31):
Six, YEAH i love that.

Speaker 4 (01:13:33):
Call sloane is such an advanced arm for his.

Speaker 2 (01:13:35):
AGE i have him as my FIFTH rngth pitching prospect right.
Now and like you, say And lucas you mentioned it,
too this was the hardest one for me as, well
because you look at the top of our, list as
far as all the arms are, concerned a lot of
these guys are in the high, minors if not A TRIPLE,
a or in the major leagues, already so we're gonna
see a lot of.

Speaker 4 (01:13:56):
Play and that's different if you look at our position.

Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
Players we've got a lot of younger, players and maybe
that's just the way the prospect list has fallen at this.
Point but the pitching the guys are more mature and
older and in higher, levels so that makes a little bit.
HARDER i went down my list quite a ways AND
i banded abound around a few different, names AND i

(01:14:20):
ended up With Brody. Hopkins it's my. Guy Berdie hopkins
has electric. Stuffs he sits high, nineties he can touch one,
hundred wipe out, slider decent, command but just struggle a
little bit at times with consistency. There but he's in
a great organization with The. RAYS i think he's one

(01:14:41):
of those guys and The rays have taught this where
they just want their arms to throw it down the
middle and let their pitches. Work and he's the guy
that's got pitches that go every which way and he's
difficult to square. Up SO i think he's a guy
that if he just sticks with that, PHILOSOPHY i think
he's as a guy that can really move up.

Speaker 4 (01:14:59):
Lists AND i just love the talent.

Speaker 1 (01:15:02):
Here and he's.

Speaker 2 (01:15:03):
Got a good frame and he throws from a low
slot and has good carry on his. Fastball SO i
think that's going to help him be. Successful All, right
a couple of dark horse names, here, Guys lucas will
start with.

Speaker 1 (01:15:14):
You, Sure i'm going to The Atlanta. Braves this is
another PRETTY i, think long shot of a dark horse.
Call BUT i Think Owen murphy really has, excellent excellent
candidacy as a potential sleeper top pitching, prospect given that
everyone's kind of forgotten about him coming into the year
because of His Tommy john. Recovery he ended up having
the surgery last year after a pretty strong start in

(01:15:35):
twenty twenty, four but he's looked unhittable in his return To.
Hya he's only got eleven point one innings so, far
but has yet to allow a. Run he's only conceded two.
Hits he has eighteen strikeouts in those eleven innings a
point two to six. Whip the only THING i think
that would keep him from really being in the contender
conversation With hernandez And sloan is the fastball velocity's still pretty.
Low he still sits in the low low, nineties AND

(01:15:57):
i don't necessarily see that ticking up in a big
way nless he has a growth spurn over the next
year or, two BUT i think he's looked excellent in
his return From Tommy. John AND i think The braves
are another really strong pitching. Organization so if there is
one of their arms that's going to rise at the,
TOP i think it could Be.

Speaker 2 (01:16:12):
Murphy, awesome good call, There, kyle who's your Dark corse?

Speaker 3 (01:16:17):
Arm, Yeah i'm looking At Kyson witherspoon. Here he ended
up falling to The Red sox at pick fifteen in
this last year's, draft AND i just don't see how
BECAUSE mlb pipeline gives him four pitches of at least
sixty or sixty five, grade and then you mix in
a taste breaking forty five grade change. Up the fastball
touches ninety. NINE i wouldn't be surprised to see him

(01:16:40):
flirt with some triple digit readings after pro. Instruction AND
i wouldn't be surprised if that forty five grade changeup
gets a bump in That Red sox system, too because
when you look at the overall package and then you
wrap it all up with averager better, command he walked
just six percent of batters In oklahoma last, year and
you stick him in A boston organization that has had

(01:17:00):
a number of really big rising arms this year when
we look at guys Like clark And totally And, early
not to mention all the other deeper names that you,
know we don't even get to when we're thinking about
a top one hundred list, yet But boston has had
a ton of big risers this. YEAR i Think witherspoon
has the potential to be the biggest riser between this

(01:17:22):
entire group when we look at things at the end
of next.

Speaker 1 (01:17:24):
Year good call.

Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
THERE i struggled with this one. TOO i went through
a number of. NAMES i think If Travis sacora was,
HEALTHY i think he might be a name to throw in.
Here BUT i looked At Carlos, Lagrange Alejandro, Rosario Charlie,
Soto Johnny king of The Blue, jays BUT i settled
on Cam camminetti The Atlanta.

Speaker 4 (01:17:48):
Braves on The, braves Arm knetti is a light.

Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
That lefty six tops out of ninety eight fifty five
on his change up and had a couple.

Speaker 4 (01:18:01):
Of forty five off speed.

Speaker 2 (01:18:03):
Pitches but good, command good command for a high school,
arm AND i think that it's going to go a
long way in order to make him. Successful and he's been,
really really good this, year just forty nine innings so,
far but he's got a thirty one percent strike a
right in just an eight percent walk, rate so very
successful so. Far he's in low, Minors he's got a

(01:18:25):
lot of runaway in front of, him but tons of.
Talent SO i like him to move up quite a,
bit if not being being near right near the top
of our starting pitching rankings in one year's. Time, okay,
guys we've we've been through the list. THERE i went
through how many forty two? PLAYERS i, believe so forty

(01:18:46):
two players. There the names you should be aware of
that are going to be rising as we. Suggest you
want to tie a bow on, it, guys any any final, Thoughts.

Speaker 3 (01:19:02):
YEAH i think one of the big things for me
is looking at some of these, positions you, know first,
base second, base third, base in, particular the pool of
players for us to pick from isn't necessarily as deep
because so many shortstops are going to move off of that.
Position so while it's always nice to have some roster
flexibility and some position variability in your minor league, system

(01:19:25):
don't get caught up on positions for your minor. Leaguers
there's a reason that ninety percent of the first round
hitters IN mlb drafts are shortstops and. Outfielders it's because
those are the most athletic players on their. Team many
of them are going to end up moving. Off so
don't worry, about you, know trying to rack. Up, OKAY

(01:19:47):
i need two catchers and two first basemen AND i
can get three second. Basement just grab as many of
the best players as you. Can they are going to move,
around they're going to fit. Eventually don't worry about their.

Speaker 2 (01:19:58):
POSITIONS i would just on about even if you're in
a thirty team of deep thirty team, league get the
best player because it's going to. Happen LIKE i look
at my thirty team roster and a lot of the
starting pitchers THAT i have drafted or acquired over the
years have become relief pitchers and then helped me out
on their belief. Side so these players shift off and

(01:20:19):
they move and they change roles on their. Teams and,
yeah you're, Right, kyle one hundred percent right on. That
so good shout, There. Lucas do you have any advice
or any comments on this.

Speaker 1 (01:20:29):
Discussion, NO i Think kyle's comment is spot. On the
only THING i would add is it's interesting to look
back at the list of players we. NAMED i think
we only picked one college bat as a potential top
prospect going in the next year at their. Position it's
largely prep, hitters largely international, Players SO i THINK i don't,
KNOW i tend to be like kind of give college

(01:20:52):
bats a bit of a higher floor automatically When i'm
thinking about them from AN fipd. Perspective but maybe that's
kind of a flawed approach to. Take if we're projecting
the top prospect and baseball at various positions and we're
not seeing college bats at the top of the, list
it's an interesting observation to. Make maybe that's a testament
to just the class we're coming off, of because twenty
twenty five is a particularly weak class for college. Hitting
BUT i think it's an interesting observation either.

Speaker 2 (01:21:14):
WAY i mean that brings up a larger conversation about
how you want to build your firm. System do you
want to build it all on upside the international, players
the high school, players or do you want.

Speaker 3 (01:21:24):
To have some.

Speaker 2 (01:21:24):
Floor maybe there's a balance to be had depending on
the size of your. League but that's a.

Speaker 4 (01:21:30):
Conversation we could have a whole podcast.

Speaker 2 (01:21:31):
About how to build up Mynor league. Roster so good
points all the way, around, guys and good good shouts.

Speaker 1 (01:21:38):
On your players as.

Speaker 2 (01:21:38):
Well there's a lot to think about, there and maybe
we'll fallow up in one year's time and see how
well we, did because we probably didn't do that. Well
i'm guessing well a lot changes in one, year even
though WHEN i suggested doing one year, out it was
like Were kyle mentioned my list isn't going to change
that much from what it is, Now but there were some, good,

(01:22:01):
deep deep names there that we kind of called, out and,
UH i THINK i think things are going to change
a lot in one.

Speaker 1 (01:22:06):
Year so good job, boys.

Speaker 2 (01:22:11):
That's going to do. It for this week's episode of
The Prospects Live dynasty podcast on behalf Of kyle And
lucas would like to thank Our hall Of Fame tier
