Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello everybody, and welcome back to the on Deck podcast
by Prospects Live. And while it is only August, still
we are going to be putting in our votes for
the All MLB Team. That's the thing that them will
be actually does now, isn't it, Drew? Am I right there?

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I believe you're right, And even if they don't, it
feels like every other outlet known to man does. So
who are we not to get in on the fund
and put in our vote for the All MLB team
Between yourself and me and of course the face of
baseball media, Reece, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
I think this will be a fun exercise. Give some
guys their flowers. It might not be in the MVP race,
but have been the best at their position this year.
So without further ado, we're gonna kick it to the
intro and get right into this thing. And the boys
on the corner we're trying to figure you out.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
O pay.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
And we are back. Thank you to the drop Teens
for their music throughout all of our podcasts. What episode thirty, guys,
Drop Teens have been with us for all thirty. We're
starting to get somewhere.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Huh, Triple X, that'll go really well. On a search algorithm.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
Then Diesel is in the house. We're just kidding, he's
not here. We don't think.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
I hope that's weird for the for the All MLB team,
We're just gonna do one guy at every position, three outfielders,
a utility, four starters, and two relievers. Is how I
think we're gonna do this. You know, spend about thirty
forty minutes on this and uh, I don't know. We'll
just see where this takes us. Maybe we'll argue over
some guys, maybe we won't. Re So, are feeling compative today.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
I'm always compeative. I wake up in the morning, I
just I just argue. We'll not with Danielle. Danielle's great.
I don't argue with him all the much. I argue
with myself.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Are you in the mirror?

Speaker 2 (01:51):
In the mirror?

Speaker 3 (01:52):
And I yell at myself, you're the problem.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
We're off the rails already, I fear. So let's start
off with the catching position, because this feels like a
pretty easy one to start this thing off. And while
cal Rally is nearly undoubtedly the the All MLB Team catcher,
let's talk about some of these other guys at top
the list. I'm just looking at fangrafts War leaderboards right
here in first place, cal Rally in second place, Will
Smith in third place, Sneaky, sneaky Reese. Who do you

(02:17):
think is in third for Catcher War?

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I didn't pull up, so I'll probably not the right
person to ask.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
Drew do you also have pulled up for his metri
V game dead?

Speaker 4 (02:25):
I do? I'm sorry your game is dead.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Please go ahead.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
It's Alejandra Kirk interesting and then Dylan Dingler at fourth,
William Patreza fifth. So a couple of fun names that
top of the board. Did you have Alejandra Kirk and
Dylan Dingler being top four and Catcher War this year?

Speaker 3 (02:43):
Res I did not shout out to shout out to
Alejandra Kirk. He stole his first ever Major League bag
a couple of weeks, a couple of days ago. Shout
out to him. He looks like someone who would take
a very long time to steal his first MLB bag.
Let's be real, but yeah, I would not have expected
Alejandro Kirk, who's been a better framer than I think
he's given credit for, or he's a better blocker. I

(03:05):
forget what's what it is. But no, Dingle's kind of
the surprise in the situation. I mean, people didn't know
if he was going to be a quad a sort
of catcher. He's always been a good defensive catcher, and
he's starting to hit a little bit. Feels like every
time I'm looking at the MLB amb Dylan Dingo's coming
through with a nice hit and he's kind of ran
away with the catching position Detroit. So yeah, I mean,
Tel Raley, can we we just name him the MVP

(03:27):
at this point? What is? He he adows the most
home runs for a catcher ever in a season, So
shout out to kill Rawley and and I won't. And
he's been way better than Aaron Judges past couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, color Ally was in a bit of a slide
post All Star Break, but up to forty nine home
runs in the year now. And to answer your question, reaches,
Alejandro Kirk is one of the best in the league
at both blocking and framing. He's the best blocker in
the league. He's just never great arm behind the dish.
So that's kind of how the war is getting so inflated.
I suppose Will Smith having sneak a good year. I
don't if I have any thoughts on him, Trew, but
he looks like maybe the second place finisher in this race,

(03:59):
I think so.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Will Smith's always been a guy that I've really been into. Obviously,
as part of that kind of really dangerous Dodgers lineup,
you're always going to be a contributor. And I guess
in a way that you know in fantasy sometimes could
be kind of skewed in a negative light, but not here.
He's an accumulator in the very best way. Will Smith's
gonna give you something in just about every category. I'll

(04:21):
tell you what I really like about Will Smith this
year is that pretty two ninety seven average and the
four h three on base man's getting on base, you
love to see it goes along with that fourteen percent walk, right.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
It's pretty good. I didn't realize he was hitting the
ball so so well this year, and you know, average
defender back there, he makes it work. Should we just
move on to first base, guys, I feel like we
might have some more discussions down the board here.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Sure well.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
So your first place war leader at first base is
Nick Kurtz, followed by Vladdie and then Matt Olsen. Rhino
Hearn Pete Alonzo, Bryce Harp around out the top six.
Nick Kurtz, a rookie, is looking like maybe the best
first base in baseball reecee where you lean forward the
All MLB team first baseman.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
I think we gotta go Nick Kurtz. What he's doing
is absolutely like bonkers. I just I don't He's probably
my leader. Do I not have it? Does he not
a qualified batter?

Speaker 1 (05:15):
I feels like only has three hundred and seventy six
plaited appearances, so I doubt it.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Yeah, yeah, okay, he is definitely not a qualified batter.
But that doesn't matter. And it's exercise because I'm like,
why is Vigara Junior number one on fangrafts? But nope,
we're not. We're not dealing with that issue. So, I mean,
Nick Kurtz has kind of been the runaway guy's running
away with the al Rookie of the Year. So yeah,
there's nothing more I can really say about him. He's
been awesome.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
I Mean the only thing he does bad is he
strikes out in whifts. That's kind of what I'm seeing.
No real holes in the game, Drew. I don't know
if if you have an alternate opinion, but Nick Kurtz
feels like a p live guy.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Yeah, it's hard to really go against Nick Kurtz. I
feel like there can't be a recording that I don't
speak about this young man, but he's he's so exciting,
and it's hard not to say. It's hard not to
give him this flowers that we're giving him. I do
want to just point out, though, that if Nick Kirks
weren't in the game, we would all be probably raving
about the year that Vladimir Geriro Junior is having. Just

(06:10):
for reference, vlad Junior in roughly one hundred and fifty
more than that, excuse me, more than one hundred and
fifty more played appearances than Nick Kurtz in the ballpark
of home runs just about five less, more runs, more rbon,
more stolen bases, striking out about fifteen percent less isolated
power metric get two hundred beautiful slash line, much like

(06:31):
Nick Kurtz's. I think that if Kurtz is going to
be that kind of as you said, Nate, you put
it really succinctly. Wiffs and strikeouts are his thing. Vlad
is probably going to even out that mix and not
be quite as with Heavy while sacrificing a smidge in
of power. But man two very exciting and still very young.
Lad's deceptively young guys at first base for the long future.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
I could see like Grandpa's liking Vlad Junior more in
this argument. You know, pretty batting average, pretty strike numbers.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Well it's a good bit.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Workson only eighty nine games. Is doing is a four
war player, Like, I don't know, it can't be understated
how interesting this year has been from Nick Kurtz. And
if you played the full year, what could these numbers
maybe look like because you didn't even get off to
that hot of a start.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Not really to pull and to pull a Bill Simmons,
which I know we open me and Nate especially like, uh,
you know, Lad is playing on a winning team, so
that should be you know, for like if we're doing
the whole Grandpa ran because we should have all Grandpa
MLB team, that would have been that's a great segment
to our list. Yeah, he plays for a winning team,
he's walking, he doesn't strike out a lot. These sort
of fits all the benchmarks of a grandpa's favorite player.

(07:40):
So yeah, I just I wanted to bring that up.
But you know, Vlad plays for a winning team, so
that probably factors into our grandpa team?

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Am I grandpa? Because I love Kurtz and Kurtz is
the answer? But I can't find anything wrong with what
Vlad's doing.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
No, flat is awesome. I think you're picking you're a
six of one, half dozen of another.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Well, I think everyone's just waiting for, like the fifty
home run season from Vlad. I think I think people have.
When he was younger, people thought he might have been
even a little bit better than he is now. But
it's been quiet and consistent throughout his career.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
It feels like, well said, I can agree with that,
and I think Kurtz is honestly if we're looking for
a fifty home run season for a cat that's not
Pete Alonzo.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
No, I think Kurtz may be your guy.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Let's move ahead to second base, with Nick Kurtz being
our final decision at first base. It sounds like second
base could tell Martey is an over one war ahead
of second place Niko Horner, followed by Jazz Chisholm, Bryce
Cherrang Glaber Torres, and then Ernie Clement at six. That's
kind of fun, not a very stacked position. Could tell.

(08:43):
Marte has been one of the better second basemen in
all baseball for what seven years now, something like that
five years, and if you go by war, he's definitely
the best player on this list. Does anyone have any
alternating opinions? Though, Reese, I'll start with you.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
I don't have any altering opinions. He's not only lapping
them in WAR, he's lapping them in WRC plus. We're
talking about a guy fifty six percent better than league average.
We're talking about a guy who's twenty three home runs.
The sole and bases a sort of tick back for
him a little bit. And there's been some weird like
mediate and narrative stuff with Kitton Marte, but that doesn't
impact this team right now. He's by far and away.
He's probably the worst defender of the group. Justism's will

(09:15):
also kind of no. Justism has some bone headed plays.
He's he's not afraid of a bad player here and there,
And labor Tors isn't exactly a gold glover at second
base either, But yeah, well, Nico Horner is a legitimate,
like one of the top five ish gloves at any position.
So yeah, but Kitton Marte. I think he's clearly laps
the field in this one.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Yeah, and I do actually want to talk about the
Ketel Marte trade stuff, but first drew your thoughts on
the second base group we have here.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Oh but thank you, Nate. I think Martie is the guy.
You guys are correct.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Marte is the guy.

Speaker 2 (09:46):
In any kind of discernible statistic, Marte does kind of
lap the field, I do. I think that Freesell love
what you said. Chism is not afraid of a boneheaded play,
I mean hard facts. That's that's certainly true. Chism is
such an exciting player, but he does get his own
way defensively. Again, you look at the stolen bases, you
look at the uh the strikeouts, it's it's It almost

(10:07):
reminds me kind of the Jazz Chios of his almost
Nick Kurtz in this instance. He's so much more exciting
and kind of versatile and more flashy, whereas Marte may
be our Vlad Ersatz here. I just want to also
give another quick shout out to Joseel Tuve. Everybody put
this man in the dirt at the beginning of the year,
but al Tuve is one of my all time favorite
players because he's just so consistent and he's doing exactly

(10:30):
what he's done for years and years and years. I
don't know how much longer he's gonna do it, but
I just loved the guy and I just had to
shout him out.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
What were you saying.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
About trades about I'm so sorry, No, no, go aheader. I
love that. Pictures still haven't figured out how to pitch
to joseel Tuv. He's aggressive in the beginning of the
play of every plate appearance, he's swings with some of
the worst pitches you'll ever see, but he gets more selective,
and it's such an interesting way to watch someone hit,
and pitchers have never ent ut into it. He's I
can't wait for him and being in the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Agreed so good at hitting pitches that are just uncompetitive,
Like he swings at the worst pitches. Everybody fous them.
It's like it's such a tough ab I want to
talk quickly about Blessing's law. On the second basement that
are on track to meet Blessing's law, which is Reese.
If you want to remind the people back home, do
you have.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
To hit twenty to twenty five home runs or still
twenty twenty five backs.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Okay, Brandon Lao already has twenty five home runs. Tell Marte,
Jose al Twove, Jazz Chisholm are the four guys on
pace to probably hit twenty five home runs this year
or already have so our stolen bases go. The guys in
the twenties include Nico Horner, Xavier Edwards, Jazz Chisholm Junior,
Bryce Traang, and Bryson Stott. Interesting one here is that
Jazz chism Junior might go twenty five to twenty five. However,

(11:39):
the whole the one point war of the strikeout problems,
I think we still obviously lean towards tel Marte here,
But only about ten guys qualify as a real second
basement in Chris Blessing's mind? Is that fair to say? Rees?

Speaker 3 (11:51):
Yeah, I think there's ten interesting second basement, and honestly,
it feels like even some of those are getting a
little gross, like Xavier Edwards, so yuck, not my thing.
Guy who's a speed only guy.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
I want.

Speaker 3 (12:01):
I want more stolen bases from him. Twenty threes not
a lot, and especially in today's run environment. But yeah,
there's just me not enjoying Xavier Edwards game. But I
don't know where I was even going with.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
I just try to say, Xavier, I actually actually have
an interesting point off of that. I think that really
your trade off from a little bit more batting average
and on base percentage for just a smidge more power
is the difference between Xavier Edwards and Bryce and Scott
who I just I'm so meh on him for the
last two seasons. And now you see it. I mean

(12:34):
when you look at it, Nate and I love that
that exercise looking at it from the lens of Blessing's law,
and you can just really clearly see the kind of
dire landscape at a second base right now. So interesting
interesting analysis there.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Yeah, if like Jazzism, Junior is a better defender, you know,
things would be a lot different in.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
The if my mom, if my mom had wheels, she
would be a bicycle.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Can we talk about can tell Marte and the possible
Do we need to go back to the bicycle comment,
We'll talk We'll.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Talk about that later. Go ahead to trades.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
So if could tell Marte it sounds like he's going
to be shopped this offseason. All sounds like Adley Rechman
is going to get shopped. Who has more value Drew
And what kind of package could A got like Martee
get Back being the only real difference maker at second
base in baseball right now?

Speaker 2 (13:23):
Oh gosh, what a difficult question. You're gonna make me
into the grandpa again. But I still feel like Adley
probably has a smidge and more value just because there
is the he's so strong behind the dish he can hit.
We've seen him be a difference maker offensively is by
all intents and purposes. And again, I don't know the guy,

(13:44):
so please don't take this my word for it, but
you hear about him being such a pitcher's catcher, and Nate,
you can speak to that. What the difference between having
a catcher that you just click with that just wants
to make you the best you can be? You can
tell us what the different or what like the value
to that is to you as a But I do
think that those are going to be two incredibly attractive

(14:04):
trade packages, and I think realistically the value for one,
depending on who you ask, may exceed the other. But
it might be a case by case opinion basis.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
Depends which team needs one of those positions more I
suppose we do you have any thoughts on that kind
of exercise there?

Speaker 3 (14:23):
Yeah, I think we're talking about Kitto marte Man. That
contract is sweet. It is cost controlled for quite a
long time. We're talking about fifteen million next year, twelve million,
twenty million. Weird contract structure for him. I think that's
just a very valuable contract for one of the guys.
Is one of the more one of more underrated players
in baseball. He is sneakingly older than you think you'd realize.

(14:44):
Maybe that dings the value quite a bit, but yeah,
I'd rather have I'd rather have Rushman. I feel like
there's just something in that that we've never gotten to
with him, or even gotten to in like a year
and a half. I think he got a pretty serious
like bone break at one point, and that's sort of
like the career sort of taking the downward spiral. I
do think that of the two, he's the least likely
to get traded because you can find ways to get
him playing time. Samuel Desio not Kobe Mayo anymore. He

(15:07):
can be bad to banished in the shadow realm. He
obviously hasn't shown. Maybe maybe the oils were right on
something with him, So I don't know. This is a
it's an interesting conversation. I'm very excited to see if
there is a market for Kittel Marte, because I do. Actually,
the more I'm looking at it, teams just started less
and less likely to take on money, so Russian probably
is a little bit more trade value.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
I think I agree. All right, let's move on to
third base, where I'm seeing twelve. What you you want
to go shortstop first?

Speaker 3 (15:36):
I'm a I am a firm believer that it should
go first base, second base, shortstop, third base. I hate
it so much, but every I know it's the way
it used to be. But we can, we can adopt
to modern times. So if you want to do third bases, fine,
we'll be too mad. I just hate it, like when
I used I used to score keep games. And so
there's no The shortstop is not sex short shop should
be five.

Speaker 1 (15:55):
I don't know stop. I don't know if I agree.
I don't know if I agree. I think shortstops at
six is show the uh. I don't know. It's like
the when the last time?

Speaker 3 (16:04):
When's the last time the shortstop played that played in
that weird spot though, now that we don't have the
shift anymore, we want to. We don't have to get
into this conversation if we don't want to. But it's
just one of the nerdier things that drives me nuts
some about baseball.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
F this guy man, let me get some white hate
in the comments we're doing third base. I want to
piss rees off. Jose Ramirez at one, Mikel Garcia at two,
Mayny Machado, Alex Bragman, and then jess From Junior also
appears as a third baseman here, Junior Kamanara at six,
a Heney as far as at seven, and a couple
other fun names down the board. However, there's kind of

(16:39):
two options here. It feels like Jose Ramirez at five
point two barn Mikel Garcia at four point five war Drew,
Do you want to talk about the season Mikel Garcia's
having and did you expect this at all?

Speaker 4 (16:50):
Did not expect this at all?

Speaker 2 (16:52):
As a matter of fact, I would have bet the
complete opposite would have happened with Mikel Garcia. He has
been one of the most prizing players, and not just
the American League and not just at third base, but
really across baseball this season. I thought that he I
would never use the phrase noodle bat. That feels incredibly
disparaging towards the player. But Garcia is a guy that

(17:12):
I really counted out a lot of the power for
twelve home runs in a one to sixty four isolated
power metric is fabulous. With a four to sixty two
slug guy's hitting for power, and again, the stolen bases
are very much there. Uh, he's walking nine percent of
the time only striking out about fourteen percent of the time.
It's it's just about everything you want to see. With
the nine points of defensive war there.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
It's great.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
But that being said, Nate, I know you didn't ask
me about this guy, and I'm not going to completely
just pile on. Everybody always says we need to give
this player their flowers while he's alive and active to
give them, and nobody ever does it. So I want
us to pledge as a podcast to please start giving
the flowers to this guy, who I am going to

(17:55):
be outright pissed if he's not our pick for the
third base All MLB Team. This guy is one of
the best to ever do it, the most one of
the most surefire Hall of famers in our generation.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
So please Sue Zach, Zach and Kinstry, Yes, come on talk.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Someone one time told me that grounds keeping crews hate
Mike cal Garcia because he just simply hits the ball
straight into the ground. And he's starting to be able
to like hit the ball into the air a little
bit more, but he hits the ball so hard into
the ground. It's just like it's just taking divots out, basically.
But Jose Ramirez twenty six home runs, thirty six steals,
and then obviously plus is only one thirty five, which
kind of surprises you and you see numbers like that.

(18:34):
But Reese, I mean, we're going Josey Ramirez here right
give any analysis on these kind of top third basemen.

Speaker 3 (18:39):
He is the top third baseman. He's a top ten
player in baseball if you want to be conservative. Man,
he's just been so much fun. He absolutely destroys the Tigers.
He strikes it, he's almost striking out. He's almost walking
as much as he's striking out. Everything for Jose remainers
is fantastic. He doesn't get the love that he deserves.
I mean, you know, since twenty nineteen, his worst season,

(19:00):
one hundred and twenty WRC, one hundred and twenty two
WRC plus just as assistant guy, he's been fantastic, a
guy I kind of want to shout out. I know
he's dealt with a little bit of injuries this year.
Is Alex Bregman. He's been fantastic and very limited playing time.
Eighty four games is three point five war, very close
to the third place with Mandy Machado. I just want
to give Alex Bregman his shouts because the Tigers should

(19:20):
have signed him this offseason and they didn't, and it
upsets me more and more every day.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
If we're getting your shout outs also, and Nate, I'm
so sorry to cut you off. I didn't realize a
Hineo Suarez had made it to forty home runs. Tremendous,
tremendous stuff for him. And of course the youngster Cameronaro
thirty six home runs, a lot of power at third base. Again,
that's nice to see.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
Is junior Cameronaro just the new Q Heineo Suarez. They
don't walk, they strike out a little bit, and they
don't make enough contact.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
It might be pretty close. Honestly, it's not a bad
I hate that camp. If Alex Bergman played a full year,
he might be the leader of the clubhouse over Rosi Amiraz.
For being honest, it'd be pretty close. But let's move
on to the shortstop position and at number one, and
no surprises here, Bobby Witt Junior at six and a
half war followed up by strong strong seasons from Trey

(20:13):
Turner and her Aldo Perdomo, a name that you wouldn't
expect to see at three, Francisco Lindor, Jeremy Panna, Elie
de la Cruz, Gunner, Anderson Corey. See you round out
your top eight. However, there's kind of three guys in
this race right now, with the third being Perdomo. Bobby
Wood Junior, though, does look like the best shortstop in
baseball right now. But I think there's an argument here

(20:34):
for Trey Turner. So I'm gonna start with you, Reese.
Does trade Turner have an argument here to be our
pick for the l MLB shortstop?

Speaker 3 (20:41):
Yeah, he's a touch less touch worst defender, but everything else,
you know, the power is pretty good for Trey Turner.
The stolen bases are still there, man, that there's gonna
be able to steal forty bases in the sleep and yeah,
I mean, you know, very everything under the hood's pretty similar.
They play the same amount of games, but you know,
Bobby Wood juniors seven point seven War ahead of him,

(21:01):
So he's been fantastic. Probably what junior being in the
same division as you for the rest of your life.
Je man, that's not a fun thing to wake up too.
I want to also, I know we've given a little
bit of shout outs here and there. Corey Seeger in
ninety eight games, so like thirty less games than the
rest of his competition. He's been fantastic. Three point seven War.
It's almost as if someone made a stat after him,
which is how good he is. He doesn't get the
love that he deserves because he plays in Texas now.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
And I do not like Jeremy Payney very much, but
he's kind of doing the same thing. One hundred and
one games, four point three WAR, good for fifth on
this leader board. That's something that I didn't see coming either.
I thought Jeremy Payne was a very flawed player, and
I do still think there might be some flaws in
his game, but to be a top five short stop
in baseball is one of the It's the most stacked
position out there, Drew, what are your thoughts on this list?

Speaker 2 (21:46):
It's a great list. Like you said, it's one of
the most stacked positions in baseball. And I mean it's
easy to sit here and look at I mean, we
can see why when your third place guy is pop
up best.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
Year of his career. Is it a new norm? I'll
let you aside at home Heraldo Perdomo.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
He has shown absolutely outstanding plate discipline this season, walking.

Speaker 4 (22:07):
More than he struck out.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
I believe that's the first player that we can use
that exact stature for fourteen percent walks and about eleven
percent strikeouts. Beautiful slash line two ninety two four six,
hitting for some.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
Power, steady defense.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
Not at the level, of course of guys like Wit
or Turner, but yes, just a very very exciting, exciting position,
the best in the game.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
So it looks like we're gonna go with Bobby Witch Junior. Here,
guys that's who I would cast my vote for. Are
on the same page there, Yeah, all right, let's fire
up the left fielders, which is where you hide the
Reese whites in T ball. Sorry, taking shots not bad,
that's so Bean. Kyle Stowers is your leader in the

(22:55):
clubhouse right now for war in left field. Some of
these guys have moved around a little bit, so it
is kind of hard to know exactly what their primary
position is. Cody Bellinger at two, White Langford at three,
James Wood at four, and Jared Derran at five. Do
we have any thoughts here? I'm gonna start with you,
Drew left field.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
You know, I remember before the season we all got
to talking and we were look, you know, Kyle Stowers
is gonna run out to the lead and left field.
We I mean, we all saw it coming. If you
didn't at home, then I mean, there's something wrong with you.

Speaker 4 (23:28):
It's not us. It's not a nutstec.

Speaker 2 (23:30):
Stowers has been an incredible surprise. He is striking out
three million percent of the time. But that is something
that you see kind of consistently amongst the left field
top of the chart between Stowars at twenty seven percent,
Langford at twenty seven percent, James Would at about thirty
one percent, Randy Rose Arena just about twenty six percent
as well, Riley Green thirty one percent. Tons of strikeouts

(23:52):
in left field, but again, the power is pretty consistent
up and down the board here. I think if I
were being this is the first one where I think
the guy at the top of the charts may not
be my play.

Speaker 4 (24:07):
I like what Bellinger's done.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
I think that James Wood has looked every bit the
part of what we've wanted him to be as well.
I would also probably hear an argument for Riley Green maybe,
but I think he's maybe in the territory with Kyle Stowers.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
I'm curious what you guys think, though, I think Bellinger
has a real shot to be our utility pick, with
him playing about the same amount of innings at leftfield,
center field, and right field, while playing a couple games
at first base.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
I had a different shout for U Till, but yeah, sorry.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
We'll get there. And to get there, I mean, I
think that it's tough to I guess necessarily just put
Cody into the utility role. I would probably go Stours
over Bellinger here just because of kind of the fun factor.
I do you think it's a way better hitter, and
I think hitting sexier than the defense. But this is

(25:01):
our team. We can do whatever we want with that. Rees.
I don't know what we're thinking here.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
I think we just put Ryley Green there if it's
our team or Isaac Collins. The power of friendship really
carries you through in this situation. Now, I think Kyle
Stowers he's the more fun option. Cody Rogers, he's fun.
White Langford's also fun.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
Blangford has been disappointing for me personally this season, but
that's actually probably it's it's probably from a fantasy perspective.
I have a trade twenty well, yeah, and that's great,
but I expected like twenty five to twenty five, and
the amount that I traded is poisoning and polluting my
brain to get why at Langford. But again, like I said,
that's a fantasy thing and not a real life thing.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
That's what we're talking about.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
I can get behind you guys picking Stowers because it
is the fun pick. And I'm not against ours, not
anti Stowers by any means. I need to clarify. I
don't think y'all took it that way, but I'm just
for everybody at home. I think he's obviously having an
outstanding year, clearly the best player on the Marlins.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
Maybe probably maybe left field is where we get weird,
and we go down the board and we just pick
the guy that we think is like like James Wood, like,
don know, he sucked for a little while, but he
was so good Isaac Collins. I'm not against thring Isaac
Collins as a fielder.

Speaker 2 (26:08):
I think I think I would stop us short of
picking guys at Collins. I do love the power of
friendship narrative that Reese is throwing out a lot of
you gi oh references with resolately. I'm a big fan
of that, But I do think I would stops just
short of picking eyes at Collins.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
But other than that, you guys can pick whatever.

Speaker 3 (26:24):
And I'm not gonna complains.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
Will win left field for the all Grandpa team.

Speaker 4 (26:29):
That that'll work.

Speaker 3 (26:30):
Oh, Isaac Collins is the captain. He's he's the first
one in, last one out. He was freed from coresder
from obscurity, a.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
Real grinder, real pass at the plate, sneak.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Yes, we're we're getting all scouting. Is the student of
the game. His dad was probably a coach. We're getting
all the problematic terms in there.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
The kind of guy you want to bring home to
your family.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
Yeah, he's kind of well, you can kind of got
you want your daughter Today. We're really, we're not helping ourselves.
Centerfield should be centerfield.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
Let's move over. Pete crow Armstrong at number one with
five and a half. Woar, Julio Rodriguez in the two
with four point one war followed up by Byron Bucks
and White Langford has played some center, and then Andy
Pahz and Sa'ddan Rafaela. Pete crow Armstrong is lapping the
field despite a very slow second half. Did he just

(27:27):
build too much of a lead for anyone else to
take this this award? Drew?

Speaker 4 (27:31):
He might have, buddy.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
I do think, I do think that the defense plays
a lot of part here with PCA as well. I
know we're all looking at the same page, So I mean,
you guys, just take a look at the defensive metric
there for for PCA, I mean it's it's the closest
one to Saddan Rafaela, who you can also point out
as being like a big surprise this season. But PCA,
as you said, the offense has also been just so electric.

(27:56):
It is ironic because again when you look at the
offensive number there, the offensive number built into War. I
should explain to you all at home. I'm sorry for
being so vague. The only other guy kind of in
that margin actually exceeds him, Byron Buxton, who is the
other guy that I would have pointed to as being
my maybe my choice, can't decide. I think PCA is
certainly the choice of the year. He's certainly the buzzier name.

(28:18):
But man, I've loved seeing Byron Buxton be I'll let
you guys tell me what the right phrasing is here,
But whatever the Byron Buckston version of healthy is.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
It's been cool to see a full season on the PCA.
Note kind of just looking at Savant here is not
a whole lot of rat in the hitting, which I
suppose can be expected, but guys like him and Ralphael
is simply all you need to do to be a
top center fielder, by war is pull the ball in
the air, be able to make enough contact, barrel up
enough baseballs, and just play really good defense. It feels

(28:51):
like that's kind of all the matters, right.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Yeah, set On Raphael is also being jerked around different
two different positions to second. It's just been bizarre. Anti Pies,
I want to give him a shout out here. He's
having one of the sneakier seasons he doesn't walk at all. Now,
that just peak Armstrong, Peak Armstrong. That was walking twice
as much as hobby bias. In case anyone was looking
at home, We're very close to it. I'll be biased.

(29:15):
When I was scrolling through this, I was looking at
the lowest walk rate was two point four percent, and
I was like, man, that is so awesome. That is
so like that's that's a rock star ship right there.

Speaker 1 (29:25):
We're not swinging the bat.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Yeah, who would have thunk?

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (29:29):
You know, if stuff is hard, the harder, the harder
stuff a pitch is the harder it is to command,
or something like that.

Speaker 2 (29:34):
Whatever.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
I can't believe. We get some of that great analysis
for free on Twitter. But yeah, just shout out to
Andy Pie's he's been fantastic for the Dodgers. You know.
Just just don't look at his walk right.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
You know what, guys, we're gonna speed right along into
right field because I want to get to the pictures
as fast as possible. And right field who is our pick? Drew?

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Uh Well loading in Now you'll have to forgive me.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
Let's see.

Speaker 2 (29:59):
I'm thinking, yeah, Carrie Carpenter is probably a good one.
MICUs Shrimsky, Man, what a comeback season for that guy,
Alex call Man.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
He had some great players.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
Trade mart has been having a great year. If you
don't it, don't you, dare don't.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
Yeah, I would.

Speaker 2 (30:20):
I'm not.

Speaker 4 (30:21):
I'm not ready for to have NOELV.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Marte discussions on this podcast.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
I'm ready to in what regard uh kb O question
Mark heck yeah.

Speaker 2 (30:32):
Okay, Race, we can absolutely have a NEELV. Marte discussion.
I'm so sick of people.

Speaker 4 (30:37):
I can't.

Speaker 2 (30:37):
We can't get into it.

Speaker 3 (30:38):
I don't think he was ever good me either.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
Never he was good for Noelvie. Marte was awesome for
like four months with the Mariners.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
Yeah, he was great as a Marin's prospect, as a
Marin's prospect.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
When prospect prospect years ago, he didn't get traded like
a million years ago.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
Next, I'm telling you, yeah.

Speaker 4 (30:57):
Okay, next year of the year, I'm also gonna fly.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
Next year, I'm gonna sp it's gonna be do my
mom's gonna have wheels with your mom's a bike and
I'm a bird.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
All of a sudden, it's gonna be dope.

Speaker 1 (31:07):
Okay, d h, I forgot to put this in our
prep sheet. But Otani versus Schwarberani has about a two
war lead. But I am not against putting Kyle Schwarber
in this thing, man, I am.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
I will throw my body in front of this.

Speaker 1 (31:21):
I will.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
That might be where is better at every single aspect
of the game.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
But the war is him. If you're talking about strictly DH,
it's closer than you think.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Yeah, I can think of a statistic that Schwarber has
our Tommy beat in.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
Yeah, Grandpa factor, no no, no, wait wait, not ruining
real estate deals.

Speaker 4 (31:45):
Ruining Hawaiian real estate.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
We don't know about.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
Should we be coming. Should we take a stand on
at some point and say no more with this bs
no more. He's gambling, he's buying illegal real estate. I
don't even know what happened there. I mean, I'm not
reading that article. When is this guy gonna stop? Someone
has to stop him. Maybe it's he's.

Speaker 2 (32:06):
Becoming a super villain in front of our very eyes.
He's above the wall. Schwarber is the voice of justice.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
We could theoretically throw a Shoeotani in the utility role.

Speaker 3 (32:17):
No, I want I want to go a little bit.
I want to go a little bit more fun.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
I think it needs I think it needs to be
a show. Hey, but man Schwarber never gets his He
never ever gets his flowers speaking.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
It never gets Let it be known my vote was
cast for Wenziel Prez. All right, utility Reese, who did
you want to go with for this utility spawn? I'm
very curious.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
I want to call with MIKEL. Garcia. He has played
a bunch of different positions. He has played all over
the defensive spectrum. He has played third base, shortstop, second base,
center field. He probably played leftield if he really needs to.
He's dh little, but he's played right field. He's played everywhere.
He kind of is the modern day benz Obrist without
the Grandpa factor.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
MIKEL. Garcia playing centerfield is pretty cool. I did not
know he did that this year. I am so down
for that, and he would probably be the highest war
utility guy since we are kind of using that as
a bench Drew, Do you have any other guys that
you're looking at here?

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Somebody was very good defensive birth to fit into the
utail like position.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
To kind of harken back.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
To what I said a minute ago about whenever I
spoke about Garcia earlier about him being so surprising to me.
I think that that is more than deserving enough to
have the spot here. I think that's a fine pick.
I would argue Kyle Schwarber, since I think there is
a case for him being the DH, but I think.

Speaker 4 (33:29):
We knew what we were getting from Schwarber, MIKEL. Garcia.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
Suddenly becoming this is far more surprising and it does
play into the fun factor, so I'll agree with that.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Well, let's move right on over too. Starting pitchers. All right,
so we're gonna pick four starting pitchers, and I'm gonna
run it through like the top fifteen or so. So
get ready for a bunch of names. At you text Google,
Garrett Crochet, Paul Skenes, Christopher Sanchez, Logan Webb, Hunter Brown,
Zach Wheeler, thoughts and Prayers, Fran Ravaldez, has Just Zardo,

(34:00):
Nathan Eyvaldi, Ishnobu Yamamoto, Joe Ryan, Nick Pivetta, Max Freed,
Matthew Boyd at fifteen, Treek schoobl and Garrett Crochet and
Paul Skins are definitely three that we're probably gonna have
to consider here. That fourth one starts to get interesting,
fellas it does in my an agreement that's school are

(34:25):
in agreement that schoobl Crochet, and Schiens have probably written
their name into this pen.

Speaker 3 (34:30):
Now we're just dealing with the last name. I think
I agree.

Speaker 2 (34:35):
Okay, how do we want to get I would argue
that Logan Webb is in the same never gets his
flowers kind of realm that we've talked about with several guys,
completely consistent, always good. I mean, is it because Logan
Web is boring? Is that why he doesn't get his flowers?

(34:57):
Is it just because he's too steady of a steady?
Maybe I think that the world is not giving Zach
Wheeler nearly enough applause at this point in his career.
I think Wheeler's probably the third most talented. Well, I'm
gonna get slammed for that, so never mind. I'm open
to three. I'm open to the I'm open to the

(35:19):
last one. I'm I'm I'm still trying to decide if
I think that no, you're you guys are right, those
three are locked. Schooble Crochet schemes are just too good.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
Honestly, my next shout after Christopher Sanchez and Logan Web
would be Nathan Yvaldi. I understand it's four less starts.
But I'm not an the RA guy.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
Let it be known.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
I'm an x FIP guy. With that being said that
the RA A is a one point seven, the FIP
is a two point seven x FIP two point nine.
I think Christopher Sanchez versus Logan web is probably the battle.
But if we don't care about Ivaldi missing five games,
he deserves a thought there.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
Hunter Brown kind of I don't know all together in
a sense, Yeah, yeah, sure, I would agree with that.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
I think this is where we can get a little fun.
It's what do we like in pitching. Logan Weib consistently
gets underrated because he's boring, he's ginger. People don't like that.
Apparently he plays for San Francisco. They're not a winning team.
You use some Bill Simmons is so otho. He'd be
very high on the Grand Pall ranking.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
Must he always outperforms as the ra always. Yeah, contact
picture that strikes guys out. Yeah, the strikeouts have really
ticked up for him in the past year. Zach Wheler
is very unfortunate. Blood clot has, you know, put put
an end to what was a fantastic season for one
of the more underrated pitchers, and honestly, where I know

(36:47):
when I'm having Hall of Fame discourse and we won't
have it with him for a long time. He's he's
a walk in Hall of Fame guy for me, and
I won't hear any but any nonsense about it. Really,
those are the guys that I would really fight for
if all these really good shout hees. Azarto kind of
shocked me how high he's been because his Azarto seems
like the duality of man. He's either on or he's

(37:07):
just terrible, Like he's like one of the like when
when Jesus Assarto has his blow up outings, they are
like bad. If he didn't have those blow ups, he
might be the cy young.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
I thought Brian Wu would be higher up on the War.
He's not a war guy. The war doesn't know ball,
so he might be saying.

Speaker 1 (37:24):
I do not love picture war, which is why I
felt I don't Valdi Wu like the the grounds of
the world are good shot Michael Waka striking out nobody,
but being up on this list is pretty cool. Andrew
Abbott with a great year. With that being said, we
can only pick four doing like a second or third
team is where this probably gets really fun. I think
it's probably between Sanchez and Web for me here and

(37:45):
I would be inclined to go Logan Web.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
I I have my final four kind of ranked here,
and if we're going off, well, whereas where are you
at of of these names.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
To be our schooble Tier and everybody else? Everybody else
my heart as well. I love Terry School so much
I got injured watching when it starts. Paul Skens, Garrett Crochet,
and honestly, I want to go Brown. I want to
go a little bit like spicy. I' not that it's
out spicy. He's putting it all together. He's showing off

(38:16):
the potential we've always known with Hunter Brown. But I
really don't think with four there's like a list of
like five or six names that I think that you
can really put in there, and I won't. I won't
fight anybody on any of them.

Speaker 2 (38:27):
So I had Wheeler, then Webb, and then a tier
of Brown, Valdi and Chris Sanchez. So just based on that,
I would think Webb is since Nate and I both
had Web pretty highly ranked there.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
But man, Brown is good.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
You guys decide, there's not a bad choice here. We've
been blessed with a lot of good pitching this year.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
We're talking about the aces of the you know, the
best pitches in baseball. So I don't really we can
go a wrong one wrong.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
I don't know did I don't know what are we
doing here? Sorry? I don't think they can do Zach
Wheeler because he's not gonna pitch anymore.

Speaker 4 (39:01):
That's such a shame.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
Let's do Logan Web. Let's give him his flowers.

Speaker 1 (39:05):
Let's do Prospects live, giving Logo Web his flowers.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
He's also good. His flowers are also his big bank
account that he has to well. He has paid very
he has paid very handsomely to be be one of
the best pictures of baseball.

Speaker 1 (39:18):
Okay, looking at the relief pictures. Now, I'm gonna go
by Saves here a relief picture war is one of
the wildest things ever. So I'm gonna first filter by Saves.
Robert Suarez, Carlos Steves, Trevor McGill, Andres Muno's Josh haters
out for the rest of the year are the first
five h some other names down the boarding Plute or

(39:39):
Oldest Chapman, Manuel Classer, uh Jon Duran. There's a lot
of good names on the board. Guys, we get to
pick two relievers who have done it better than anyone
else this year. What are we thinking?

Speaker 3 (39:51):
I think with relievers, I don't think we need to
have some sort of like statistical background. I don't think saves.
I think we can kind of just go with kind
of a with with ball knowledge and vibes. So I mean,
I'm I think Robert Suarez has to be one of
the guys. I really do. I think he's been one
of the best relievers in baseball. I mean he's keeping

(40:11):
Mason Miller out of being the closer for the San
Diego Padres, so obviously you know he's a better reliever.
And then I really don't know where I want to
go with second second.

Speaker 2 (40:20):
Can I pitch something to you guys? Yeah, yes, I'm
thinking about my kind of in my head, if this
was on me, who I would pick as relievers. It's
a shame while we're doing too, because the first three
that came to mind are in order, Mason Miller, Bob Suarez,
and then Jeremiah Estrata. Now I realized that that's a
very deep cut, like not closer closer.

Speaker 4 (40:43):
I don't know. Estrada is a freak.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
Do you guys want to know my two picks?

Speaker 4 (40:48):
Yeah? What do you got o, eldest.

Speaker 1 (40:51):
Chapman, I love it. What if we threw Griffin Jacks
up there with the five, because in the league her
a lies, we could take a stance here. He doesn't
get saves. It doesn't saves don't matter. Saves aren't a
real stat.

Speaker 3 (41:06):
He's gonna be a starter next year.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
He might be the best reliever in baseball from a
pure talent standpoint.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
He made a smart decision by asking to get traded,
and then he gets traded to the race. It's like,
of course the second and then the world as Chapman
and Griffin Jacks are the best Sierra. Those are kind
of the two numbers I look at when I look
at relievers, because relievers don't have enough sample size where
everything's gonna lie right. I love those two guys. They
do very similar things. Honestly, Between Chapman and Jacks, I

(41:34):
would like to give Adrian Marijone a shout. His change
up his fifth. It is like otherworldly.

Speaker 1 (41:39):
That's bullpen. It's so fun. I wish Morehan would be
a transitioner to starter, and he might be the guy
who gets started instead of Mason Miller next year.

Speaker 3 (41:46):
I yeah, I think Mari Hones should be. His pitch
mixes is not reliever, if that makes sense.

Speaker 1 (41:52):
They actually change it this year that he's throwing way
more of just a two pitch mix, where in the
past he was had like a full six pitch mix.
I don't know what.

Speaker 3 (42:01):
I also want to give Kate Smith a shout out.
They're just one of the best relievers. He's this five guy.

Speaker 2 (42:06):
Randy Rodriguez, another guy if we're just doing if we're
just giving shout outs, has been out.

Speaker 1 (42:10):
A month ago. Randy Rodriguez would have been my number
one without he's been shouting a little bit. So I
I put my vote in for two different guys. I
think we all kind of were different here. My argument
first and foremost would be our oldest Chapman is probably
the best reliever in baseball right now. Do you know?

Speaker 3 (42:29):
I want Brian A. Bray. I just want him to
get his flowers. That dude is freaking like now that
now the hater's hurt, he gets to be the closer
for that team. I love Brian Brady he's.

Speaker 1 (42:38):
Only gonna hierarchy. I have him and Hater both as
tier one closers. He's just not a closer. He doesn't
get saves.

Speaker 4 (42:45):
I agree with you both.

Speaker 2 (42:46):
I think if it's okay with you, I will propose
Chapman to Bree. I think that's a really fun too.

Speaker 1 (42:52):
If we're gonna go with the non closer, Jacks is
way better than a break Jackson is way better than
a brew You.

Speaker 3 (42:58):
It's not Jack's fault that the twins zero save opportunities and.

Speaker 1 (43:01):
Having a five ra is it does make him hard
to put on this list, but.

Speaker 3 (43:07):
Real people know the real ones now served our country,
so he's got that going for him too.

Speaker 1 (43:16):
This is such. I mean, I like, uh, Bob Suarez,
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (43:22):
He that go uh I could get behind Griffin Jacks
looking it's weird. I know it's weird, and I'm not
even trying to be I'm not being an e RA merchant.

Speaker 2 (43:34):
I just looking at the strikeout numbers, is what I
was saying, Katee. I mean, Briana Burry is pretty great,
but then I mean, realistically came out as walk. Jax
is more than two percent points better than a bree
you and has comparable strikeout numbers.

Speaker 3 (43:49):
So I rate my picture my relievers by cave cape
nine or k percentage, and Griffin Jackson is number two.
I'm a very simple man when it comes to reliever.
I want you to go in there. I want you
to throw a two pay. I want you to throw
one of them really fucking fast.

Speaker 1 (44:04):
God fucking damn it. Hover monetizing. We can't monetize.

Speaker 3 (44:08):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (44:12):
Now I just have to flag it for profanity. No
kids watching this podcast.

Speaker 2 (44:16):
Or you could just bleep it, use a bleat noise.

Speaker 1 (44:19):
That I said it right after I kind of like, uh,
prosper slab after dark Griffin jacks Guys, can we do it?
Can we?

Speaker 3 (44:26):
Gryffin Jackson?

Speaker 1 (44:27):
We weren't weird this whole time. We very much went shock.

Speaker 3 (44:30):
It was weird. That was that was our weirdness show.
Yet I agree.

Speaker 1 (44:33):
I cannot wait for the All Grandpa team. I almost
wish that we did that today instead because it's kind
of the way cooler thing. But that'll probably be next
Tuesday's episode.

Speaker 4 (44:43):
Drop is a comment. If you're ready for us to
get Grandpa.

Speaker 1 (44:46):
Out, that's gonna be a great graphic it's probably went
well on Twitter, but that's gonna be so good.

Speaker 4 (44:50):
The three of us as like old people, is what?

Speaker 1 (44:53):
Yeah, yeah, all right to recap our all MLB team
Catcher Cal Rawley first base, Nick Kurt's second day, ktel
Marte third base, Jose Ramirez shortstop, Bobby wit Junior left field,
Kyle Stowers centerfield, Pie Crow Armstrong right field, Aaron Judge utility,
mikekel Garcia, Dhhotani starting picture one, Trick Scoogle starting picture two,

(45:14):
Garrett Crochet starting picture three, Paul Skin starting picture four,
Logan web relief picture one, Roll This Chapman relief picture two.
Griffin Jacks. All right, are we happy with this guy?
Shall we go to our first break of the episode.

Speaker 3 (45:26):
Let's do it all right.

Speaker 1 (45:27):
We'll see you guys on the other side of this
break with Prospects Live News.

Speaker 3 (45:40):
Thank you to the drop teams for fantastic music interlude.
What's going on at Prospects Live. We have a lot
going on. We have the Top one hundred list coming
out this week. We did a primer for a week
before the before the actual Pop one hundred list came out.
I guess when you get hurt, things get thrown off,
not me with the daily She's rolling out. Doc has
his Sunday Smokes article coming out. We had the die
see Baseball pickup guys. They continue to roll through. We

(46:03):
have a lot of other really good draft stuff coming
out in the future. We were's just so much stuff
coming out. For the price of two beef sticks at
a gas station. You can subscribe at Prospects Live and
get fantastic content. And honestly, if you want to subscribe
for three beef sticks, you're you're rocking and rolling. You're
in a higher tier. Make sure that you subscribe to
our tiers. We might be doing Dungeons and Dragons with

(46:25):
some of our higher tier members. So yeah, with that,
I want to start off with Drew, what's on your mind?

Speaker 2 (46:31):
Okay, Well, as you guys know, because I had to
push our recording time back, I actually went to the
theater today, which plays into another topic we're going to
talk about in a little bit. But as I've kind
of alluded to, most of my friends and family love
horror movies scary movies, and it's not my favorite.

Speaker 4 (46:50):
Genre by any means.

Speaker 2 (46:51):
I can get behind it. I need to say I
can get behind it. That being said, I would I
would not define myself as a scaredy cat by any means.
I feel like I'm real world brave. But it just
the movies get to me. So anyway, I watched Weapons
tonight and I I think the best way to say

(47:12):
is I liked it, and I'll open it to questions,
have either of you seen it?

Speaker 1 (47:17):
Not?

Speaker 2 (47:18):
Okay, I'll open the Florida questions?

Speaker 4 (47:20):
Then what is it? Okay?

Speaker 2 (47:23):
I'm trying to think of a good non spoilery reviews.

Speaker 3 (47:29):
Yes as matters, I say the word weapons in the movie.

Speaker 4 (47:32):
At least once?

Speaker 1 (47:33):
What kind of weapons are in this movie?

Speaker 4 (47:36):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (47:38):
I I doubt this is gonna be the first time
somebody's thought this. I saw the movie as kind of
an allegory for.

Speaker 4 (47:44):
School shootings and how it's.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
How how communities are affected, how people can be so
on edge about others. It's just and of course it
is just very scary for other reasons. But I thought,
I don't know, I need to look into that kind
of theory some more. But essentially, what happens if you
guys haven't seen the trailer, If you haven't seen the
trailer Home at two seventeen am in some quiet town

(48:11):
in Pennsylvania, an entire classroom worth of children wake up
at the same time to seventeen am and leave their homes.
They're not stolen, they're not burbled, they're not shot, they're
not They just all get up and leave their homes
and run off into the darkness at the exact same time.
All of these children are all in the same classroom.

(48:31):
So of course the town is just what has this
teacher done? What's happened? Where are our kids?

Speaker 4 (48:37):
Are they alive? Are they dead?

Speaker 2 (48:39):
What's going on? How is she going to be punished?
This woman is wicked, and it descends into utter madness
from there.

Speaker 1 (48:49):
I'm so out on this movie. It's not even funny.
I'm real out.

Speaker 3 (48:54):
I will not see this movie.

Speaker 2 (48:55):
Okay, can you allatin?

Speaker 3 (48:57):
I am a coward, even written in our doc Oh,
I hate I hate scary movies. I oh, what was
the movie? In high school? Girl inviting me able to
watch a movie?

Speaker 1 (49:09):
And I think and I left. It was in the City.

Speaker 4 (49:12):
Oh no, dude, no, okay, Insidious is awful.

Speaker 3 (49:16):
Those are scared. After after thirty minutes, I was like,
I have to go.

Speaker 4 (49:22):
My mom call it. I'm out.

Speaker 2 (49:25):
Uh No, insidious, is terrifying. But this, I'll say this,
did either This is going to be the wrong group
to ask us to. Did either of you see Long
Legs by chance?

Speaker 3 (49:35):
No?

Speaker 1 (49:36):
No, that sounds horrible. That sounds like the worst it is.

Speaker 2 (49:40):
It is it is so, it sounds like it sounds
like you two have better groups of friends who are
just like Oh.

Speaker 1 (49:46):
I want to enjoy watching movies what I don't.

Speaker 2 (49:48):
But I'm not allowed to. I have to see this.

Speaker 3 (49:51):
Okay, I'm okay crying during the movie. I'm okay laughing
any other emotion.

Speaker 1 (49:55):
No, really, okay, I'd rather be so sad. I'd rather
be the most saddest human ever than be scared even
a little bit.

Speaker 2 (50:02):
Have either of you seen The Lovely Bones?

Speaker 4 (50:04):
This is an old movie?

Speaker 2 (50:06):
Okay, So Mallory also made me watch this and I cried.
It was depressing. I'll watched that Saturday evening terribly sad. Anyway, Okay,
real quick, since now the re of you have seen it,
I'll just talk to the people at home trying to hurry.
Long Legs was really good, but I think what it
did wrong was it tried to pack too much in.
Had they kept it simple and not tried to do

(50:28):
too much, it would have been incredibly, incredibly good. It
turned into an entire crapfest for the last thirty minutes
just because they tried to do too much with it.
Weapons did the opposite. It kept it simple, And because
it kept it simple, it was fabulous. It was one
of the better scary movies I've seen, and it scared scared.

Speaker 3 (50:46):
Me to death.

Speaker 2 (50:46):
It was just really good. That's all I've got to say. Though,
So Reese, you kind of alluded to it, But what's
one of your mind?

Speaker 3 (50:53):
I'm a coward. No, I didn't really have anything. So
let's just talk about movie theater. Let's stay in that,
in that realm. What are you getting at a movie theater?
I'm getting popcorn and I'm getting a drink. I don't
normally drink as much soda these days, but I'm going
to get a soda at a movie theater. There's no
way I'm not going into a movie theater and getting
a soda. What are you guys getting when you guys
go to a movie there? We don't need to do
a draft or anything, just quick, because we have another draft.

(51:14):
That's fantastic.

Speaker 2 (51:16):
I don't get I'm getting out of there as quickly
as possible. I hate the theater.

Speaker 4 (51:21):
I hate the theater now tonight.

Speaker 2 (51:23):
I did have some reason. That's actually I was in
the mood for some typed reasons.

Speaker 3 (51:27):
So can I give you guys a way to save
the movies. You know we're always talking about trying to
save the movies. They need to have an intermission. Movies
are too long. I do not have the attention span
for a movie. I'm a coward and I don't know.
I can't just sit there for for a three hour movie.
These days, I'd have to be hammered to go to
a movie, if we're being honest at this point, like
nothing about that The Draft, like another Lord of the
Rings movie would have to come out to get me.

Speaker 1 (51:48):
To go to a theater.

Speaker 3 (51:50):
Wow, I'm I'll go see like a Leo movie. I'm
a big Leonardo DiCaprio guy, I'll go see it. I'm bombed.
I didn't go see F one in theaters. I'm very bombed.
I didn't see that big Brad Pitt guy. I was
just like, I'm just like a list, or like even
higher than a list actors. I would watch The Revenant
if they showed it in the theater again. That's one
of my favorite movies. All right, Nate, what's on your mind?

Speaker 1 (52:10):
We're drafting the worst places on Earth. This can go anywhere.
I don't have a board at all, so dang it.
So maybe we need to think in our heads a
little bit. But the worst place is on earth. There
is no rules this draft, and the order is Drew Reese, mee.

(52:33):
Let's do it all right, man off the dome.

Speaker 4 (52:37):
Okay. Well, uh just kind of rushing here and kind
of getting it together.

Speaker 2 (52:45):
I'm gonna say the DMV is my number one just
because I mean, it feels like it feels chalky, and
I've got other answers I think are better, but I
mean I'll go DMV because it's terrible. There's always a
line you're you never want to go there. They need
everything from your life and you don't have it. Just
an awful place to be.

Speaker 3 (53:06):
Uh my needs to know about my twice removed step
uncle for some reason.

Speaker 2 (53:10):
Why do you need to know about Joe. You don't
need to know about him.

Speaker 1 (53:14):
I'm really worried that res is going to take my
pick here.

Speaker 3 (53:17):
I'm going to go with subway. Subway. Hell, it is disgusting.
I cannot stand it.

Speaker 4 (53:25):
It's a terrible.

Speaker 2 (53:28):
I love how much you hate so Oh my gosh,
I was gonna go with Hell. Hell is such a
good answer.

Speaker 1 (53:40):
My second pick is going to be the bar bathroom.

Speaker 3 (53:43):
Can I Actually, you know, purgatory might be worse than
Hell because you're just stuck in limbo. The If you're
a textbook overthinker like I am, I'm going with purgatory.

Speaker 4 (53:53):
Okay, geez, but.

Speaker 3 (54:00):
I'm going I'm going with I'm playing my playing all
my hands out of my cards out there. I'm I'm
going I'm gonna get a stem monetized.

Speaker 2 (54:08):
I feel like I should have picked Oh my gosh,
this this draft already annoys me because it's just it's
taking such a turn. Okay, I'm gonna go with my
number two pick, since I'm just staying grounded in reality,
and like the two of you, I'm gonna go with work.
Just your your work, your work. You don't want to
be there. You don't want to be there, like I mean,
realistically speaking, you're just there because it pays your money.

(54:30):
You may enjoy your job, that's fine, Chances are you'd
rather be at home doing what you want to do, though.

Speaker 1 (54:35):
I love this draft to be two people doing something
completely different than the other one.

Speaker 2 (54:41):
All right, fine, then, uh, okay, I'm gonna pick for
this one Yellowstone National Park.

Speaker 3 (54:46):
Why Yellowstone looks awesome?

Speaker 4 (54:49):
Yeah, it's all right, But another time, I'll have to
tell you the story. I'll get into the story.

Speaker 2 (54:52):
We're gonna need a much longer time than now, and
I can tell you, guys my Yellowstone National Park story.

Speaker 4 (54:57):
There, vote, okay, bring up?

Speaker 3 (55:04):
Okay, might to my top tour off the board to
the hospital.

Speaker 1 (55:08):
So you had Hell and Hell and Yellowstone.

Speaker 4 (55:11):
That was your one and two.

Speaker 3 (55:12):
No, no purgatory, and once once Nate said hell, I
was like, purgatory seems like worse because you don't know
where you're going. I'm going to the hospital, just not
my things. I don't like it. I like the plague.

Speaker 4 (55:25):
I've been to.

Speaker 2 (55:26):
I've been to three of the places on our list
in the last week. I just want to point out purgatory.

Speaker 3 (55:31):
Subway bathroom meant purgatory.

Speaker 4 (55:35):
Ny, you're up for two.

Speaker 1 (55:37):
I'm gonna go with your weird aunt's house.

Speaker 3 (55:42):
Your mom's gonna ask the questions.

Speaker 4 (55:45):
I'm curious, not anymore. You said she's done with you.

Speaker 1 (55:55):
No, that was a figure of speech. All my family
members watching, my weird aunt's watching this. Sorry, uh, I'm
gonna go with the dentist. I don't like the dentist.
I don't like people poking around in there.

Speaker 3 (56:11):
I have to come for the one more.

Speaker 2 (56:13):
Oh man, what do I not like?

Speaker 4 (56:16):
I have two such good ones now mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (56:21):
Oh, I don't want to change the dentist.

Speaker 3 (56:25):
Yeah, you can change the dentist. I give me time
to think.

Speaker 1 (56:27):
I'm gonna go with jail.

Speaker 2 (56:31):
Jail.

Speaker 3 (56:32):
Jail seems a lot better the subway. That's real, which
is why it fell. Oh dude, I can't even think.
What's what's the place that I hate because I'm still
left that own subway? Oh oh? A grocery store on Thanksgiving?

(56:53):
That is the worst. There's a line there. You feel
bad while you're there because the employees are employees are
working there. There's a level of guilt that you feel.
It's a whole like lay onion that you can unpeal there.
I feel bad when I have to go.

Speaker 4 (57:06):
Yeah, that's that's a really bad one.

Speaker 3 (57:10):
Oh man.

Speaker 2 (57:11):
Okay, well, I was gonna say the theater, because obviously
I alluded to how much I don't like going to
the theater. But then I talk to you two who
hate it worse than me. Uh, so I'm gonna go
with Uh, let's go with court. If you have a
court date for a speeding ticket, it sucks you're there

(57:33):
for the whole morning. You've got to listen to, Lord,
the most unhinged stuff that's happened in your county over
the last month. Like this person's on all kinds of drugs,
God forbid. And this person's like beating somebody, God forbid.
And you're like, I was going, I was going ten over.

Speaker 4 (57:49):
Can I please go? Can I please go? So I'm
gonna say just I mean, uh, county court, Court Court.

Speaker 2 (57:58):
Uh, what a draft?

Speaker 4 (58:01):
This is bizarre.

Speaker 1 (58:03):
I enjoyed that one. That's gonna make for a fun graphic.
We're never gonna get sponsored by Subway. No purgatory, though
maybe they might spots us.

Speaker 2 (58:14):
Yellow Park jury's still out.

Speaker 1 (58:17):
I have to know.

Speaker 3 (58:17):
I'm so fascinated. I love the outdoors. I love National
parks and like I love it too, yellow yellowstones like
such a I really want to know. Do you guys
have any ulsa rans? I didn't.

Speaker 4 (58:31):
Yeah, I had the theater.

Speaker 2 (58:35):
Uh, standing in line at Black Friday and.

Speaker 4 (58:41):
Oh, yeah, yeah we do, Yeah we do. I did
last year.

Speaker 3 (58:45):
And anyway, was it a Yellowstone National Park? Is that?

Speaker 1 (58:50):
Why?

Speaker 4 (58:53):
How'd you know?

Speaker 3 (58:55):
I'm sorry. I get to get out of here soon.
I'm so sorry.

Speaker 1 (58:57):
No, it's fine. The locked dungeon in your neighbor's space
not a great place to be.

Speaker 2 (59:01):
Oh man, I forgot that one man miss that local bravels.

Speaker 1 (59:11):
That the hills of Pakistan not where you want to be.
All right, So we're out of this episode.

Speaker 3 (59:21):
No, it's not even Meaty rail in the episode.

Speaker 5 (59:24):
I know.

Speaker 1 (59:25):
All right, guys, let's get out of here. How about that.
Thank you guys so much for watching this crazy episode.
I don't even want to shout ourselves. So anymore episode
thirty people will find us. We're in the description of
the episode x x X I love Will Thompson.

Speaker 4 (59:41):
I also love Will Thompson.

Speaker 3 (59:43):
Do you he's dead to me? No, I'm choking. I
do love him.

Speaker 1 (59:47):
Uh And with that, thank you so much for watching,
