Empiezan a surgir planes de estudios especializados sobre la escritura de videojuegos, y en la mayoría de grados o másters sobre desarrollo y diseño de videojuegos suelen incluirse sesiones dedicadas al guión; de igual modo, en másters sobre guión de televisión o cine, cada vez es más frecuente dedicar una sesión a los videojuegos.
