Speaker 4 (01:36):
So you got an even speak of the Christmas holiday.
Good afternoon to you. I'm putting on my little windscreen
on my microphone. I should have done that, so I
turned the mic off when I do this, Atticus, there
probably a good call. It's now on there. Anybody watching

(01:58):
on the YouTube knows what I just did. But good
afternoon to you. My name is Jake Quiy Nathaniel, don't
call me Atticus. Finch is in for Eddie Garrison. Eddie
is back. They had some last minute hiccups apparently, and
the fair Ground light deal is fabulous, but apparently they
wanted Eddie to come out and help out a little
bit more. So he's going to be doing so now
are you and tomorrow as well? Atticus? I'm not I
think it might be Kurt maybe. Okay, So we go

(02:21):
to the bullpen, but nonetheless capably so. And let me
tell you what happened over the weekend where you heard
Zyre Franklin say that San Francisco travels well. I don't
know that it's San Francisco travels well. They're a fascinating team,
the forty nine Ers as a franchise, because if you've
been to the Bay Area, which I have on several occasions,

(02:42):
there's no doubt about the fact that they are. You know,
when you go through San Francisco and you walk around,
you know, I think that there are definitely Niners fans,
but very few people that live in that area of
the country are born and raised there, per se. I
shouldn't say that, but it's obviously transient area. The Niners

(03:03):
quote unquote travel well in the fact that there are
tons of forty nine Ers fans that already live here,
because and this would be true in Louisville, this would
be true in Dayton, this would be true in you know,
I'm trying to think of cities that don't have an
NFL team Sat louis before the Rams, I know, they
had the Cardinals, But the Niners are a national brand.

(03:27):
They are a national brand and so therefore, there are
people of my age or older that grew up before
the Colts were really a thing, or before they were
even here, and they grew up watching Joe Montana and
Jerry Rice and Steve Young and all of those teams.
And yes, the Colts were here for the better part
of that, but they weren't entrenched and a lot of people.
Those helmets in particular drew people in. But I was

(03:51):
yesterday at the Yule Tide. My family. Every year we go.
It's a query family tradition to the Yule Tide, which
is fantastic on Monument Circle and the Symphony Orchestra, and
this year they changed the show a little bit this year,
and I thought it was outstanding. But we were walking
in to the Ule Tide and on Monument Circle and

(04:14):
it's been a long time. I've only seen this one
other time, when I was in Manchester, England over the
summer and was going to the Oasis show. There there
were pop up guys all over the place with tables
selling Oasis gear and you know that you're going to
watch them twice and then after that it's just you
know that your hat's going to say as is, because

(04:35):
like the o is going to fade off. But there
was a guy selling knockoff Niners gear on Monument Circle
and I thought, now that's that right there. You want
to talk about an entrepreneur taking advantage of the situation.
Guys like you know what, Niners are in town? But
I thought, how many people are really here and walking
around for the San Francisco forty nine ers in Indianapolis.

(04:57):
But Zire Franklin mentioned the travel, Well, there are fans
that are going to be there. But tonight is a
big one for the Colts Monday Night football, and there's
plenty to talk about over the course of today. Don
Fisher's going to join us coming up Indiana basketball tonight
as well, six o'clock, their final game before they get
totally into their Big Ten schedule. Clearly, now we know
who Indiana is going to play in the college football playoffs.

(05:20):
How crazy does that sound to say we know who
they're going to be playing in the quarterfinals of the
college football playoff as the number one seed in their
favorite over Alabama. Crazy? But we can unpack all of that.
Butler's in action today taking on the New Jersey Institute
of Technology. That game getting underway you can hear it

(05:40):
on our sister station, Fuego at two o'clock today. The
Pacers also to discuss. But the big story is the Colts.
And here's where we are with the Colts and this
game with the Niners. Monday night football is awesome. There's
a buzz about Monday night football. There's an energy about
Monday Night five fotball. There's an excitement about money that football.

(06:02):
There is when it comes to money that football, an
element of an exclusivity. You know, you heard it there, Hey,
like the whole country's watching. It's the one thing that's
on all of that. And that is all cool for sure,
right and it's exciting. But at the same time, where

(06:25):
are the Colts and who are the Colts? It has
been a disastrous stretch since the buye, a disastrous stretch
since the buye. Last night was really the only thing
that has gone the way of the Colts since the bye.
Since the bye week, there have been sixteen games, sixteen

(06:48):
of them that have had impact in one way or
another that could favor or hurt the Colts in terms
of a playoff seat or a playoff position. And those
sixteen games going into last night have gone oh and
sixteen in the favor of what the Colts need. Games

(07:11):
that the Colts needed a team to lose, that team won.
Games that a team that the Colts needed a team
to win for them they lost. And I'm talking about
those that are stuck around them. Finally, that streak came
to an end last night because it was good news
for the Colts that Baltimore lost because of the fact

(07:31):
that you had New England is going to win that
division or is you know New England is Baltimore is
right there in the thick for a playoff seed, and
so you needed for a wild card, and so you
need to Baltimore to lose, and they did. That's the
first thing that's gone the way of the Colts. And
this week when it comes to the Christmas week, you've

(07:55):
got Christmas on I think Christmas is Thursday. I thinks
it all runs together after a while, right, it's like, oh, gosh,
I've got this to do. Like tomorrow night, I'll be
at ale Emporium from five until seven as part of
our Mini Hoops Challenge with Mick Ultra. Look forward to it,
and I'm excited about that. And then I think to myself, Oh,
that's great because that's like the start of the holiday.
I'm like, oh no, that's right. There's Wednesday, most people work,

(08:18):
and then that's Christmas. Even then Thursday's Christmas and everybody
has this like free floating trying to piece together and
figure out where you need to be type schedule. And
it feels like that's where the Colts are right now
going into this game tonight with San Francisco, of trying
to figure out where they slot and where they go
from here? Is this a wash? Are we going into

(08:40):
this game saying this is window dressing. I'm a little
intrigued by Philip Rivers. But outside of that, this is
not of This is not something that I'm sitting here
trying to stress or figure out what is happening because
I got stuff to do. It's the holiday week and
they're done. Or are you looking at it saying, look,

(09:00):
even with all that's gone on, if they went out,
their chances go up exponentially eighty six percent chance of
getting in the playoffs. If they went out. They just
got to take care of business. They just got to
take care of business. But it feels like there's this
total instability where you just can't in your mind, you

(09:24):
can't get this traction of what all has to happen
left for the Colts to salvage this season that started
out so promising and now looks like it could be
a dumpster fire. And it's not entirely their fault. Injuries
have come into play, but it's also somewhat their fault
because they didn't prepare themselves to some extent for say,

(09:47):
those injuries, and they now find themselves in this spot
with San Francisco tonight. Now let's begin with this started
out seven and one, and when the Colts were seven
and one, we were all talking about it, right, we
were all like those little kids that were nestled in

(10:09):
bed with sugar plump fairies dancing in their head. Right,
everybody started imagining and dreaming, Holy cow, number one seed,
home field advantage, Super Bowl is inevitable, inevitable. At least
a playoff push was a certainty inevitable. I'm being a

(10:30):
little facetious there, But let's look at.

Speaker 8 (10:36):
Now.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
When you look at it, that's seven and one mark.
Because the NFL is a long year, the NFL is
so many things can change when it comes to the
National Football League there's no certainty or consistency in the
NFL when it comes to knowing who and what everybody is.

(10:58):
And at the time that they beat Miami, and I
remember at the very beginning of the season Matt Verdram
being on with us and Matt Verderam saying when I said,
who's the team that their year could just become a
complete disaster, and he said, I think it's the team
that's coming to see Indianapolis on Sunday, the Miami Dolphins.
And there's some truth to that. Here we are down

(11:19):
the home stretch, Miami six and nine. They beat Denver,
they beat Denver. Nathaniel don't call me Atticus Finch's Denver
Broncos beaten by the Colts. And did anybody at the
time did anyone think to themselves, that's a really good

(11:39):
quality win over a top flight I think people thought
Denver was going to be good, but they beat them,
and they kind of got gifted to win because of
the mysterious leverage call. But nonetheless, so win's a win.
You take it. Tennessee. Tennessee's the free space bingo? Is

(12:00):
it not fine? You get Tennessee great? And I know
they won this weekend. But you get Tennessee the Raiders,
the disastrous Raiders, who I said was going to be
one of those teams that was going to turn out
to be like a pretty good team. It has been
a complete, complete disaster for the Raiders. Two and thirteen Arizona,

(12:23):
the most obscure anonymous franchise in the NFL. Arizona three
and twelve, Atlanta should have lost to Atlanta, should have
lost to Atlanta. But you beat them Atlanta now six
and nine and the Chargers win is a good win.
To go out there and do what they did to
the Chargers was a good win. But all told, if

(12:43):
you take the Chargers and the Broncos out of it,
and this is what I think the Colts have to
analyze and what Carli ors Gordon needs to assess. If
you take the Chargers and the Broncos out of it,
which is a little absurd because they are part of
the schedule and they beat them, and I know that
Daniel Jones and that injury comes into play. But this

(13:06):
is the crossroad of where the Indianapolis Colts stand right now.
They go into this push with three games left, and yes,
they have a chance to win out and put themselves
in very good position. And is anybody confident that if
they went out and put themselves in that good position
and get into playoffs, that Philip Rivers is going to

(13:28):
find the fountain of youth and all of a sudden
they then are going to make a run. Does anybody
think this is Jim Harbaugh letter rip that version of
the Colts all over again, or are you just playing
it out kind of like this week you kind of
forget what day is the one that's the big day?

(13:50):
That's Thursday's the big day. That's right? So what does
that mean for workwise? I forget? Do I have something
to do on Tuesday or not? I can't remember. There
are so many different variables to it. It's like this
un certain where nothing feels normal. But if you are
looking at it, you're Carli ERSA Gordon, You're saying yourself, Okay,
I'm going to take out those two wins, the two
really good wins they have the Chargers and the Broncos.

(14:11):
The Broncos which should have been a loss, but we'll
take it. Twenty and fifty five is the record of
the teams the Colts have wins over twenty and fifty five.
This is a team now we can look at in
retrospect and say they got off to a great start
and were playing really good football, but they were literally

(14:32):
playing the bottom of the NFL. They were getting They
were like anybody remember Kimbo Slice. Remember Kimbo Slice when
the UFC was first becoming a thing and MMA was
first becoming a thing. And it's like this dude, Kimbo
Slice is just killing dudes. He is like two punches
and out. I've seen these videos all over YouTube. It's unbelievable.

(14:56):
Kimbo Slice gets himself a big delay. I mean, rest
in peace. I believe Kimbo Slice passed away. But Kimbo
Slice gets this big deal with UFC. He was one
of the first guys. You know, you already had Ken
Shan Rock and Hoys Gracie and those guys, but it
was like, we're now going to bring this in and
start bringing in the showing that the backstreet guys. And

(15:18):
then what you find out is that Kimbo Slice was
paying dudes like seven bucks out of fast food and
parking lots to come and meet him in a back
alley and beat him up. And you're like, this guy
can't beat anybody. And the Colts might have been Kimbo
slice through eight weeks, they might have been. They were
playing at a high level Offensively, they were clicking along

(15:38):
all of a sudden. Alec Pierce is this great threat,
Michael Pittman Junr is this over the middle threat. Jonathan
Taylor is an all pro back. Their offensive line looks outstanding.
Tyler Warren looks like the second coming of insert the
name of your favorite tight end of all time, Antonio
Gates and Jeremy Shockey and Mark Bavarro, and he looks

(15:59):
like all of them, right, Travis Kelce. Everything's clicking, and
then the thing that happened that you have to assess,
and then the thing that happened that I go to precedent.

(16:20):
The precedent was that with this franchise, with a team
that had something where everything came together before their very
eyes and there was this stunning, heartwarming, exciting season coming
into form. They pushed in too aggressively and they altered
the timelines for Andrew Luck because they had all these

(16:42):
veterans they went and got and they didn't allow things
to organically grow with Andrew Luck and build in protecting
him Luck didn't help himself with the way his style
of play. I get it. But when it didn't come
to fruition, then the Colts were really stuck between a
rock and a heart place because of the things that
they had mortgaged and put on a credit card, and

(17:02):
those bills came due, and for this team to start
out seven and one. Where the Colts may have aired
is they may have looked at that and thought that
that was a legitimate seven and one and that they
were an upper echelon team that could compete regularly with
the Buffaloes in the postseason, that could compete regularly with

(17:26):
the Denvers in the postseason. Yes, they beat them in
the regular season. I get it. That could compete with
New England, who just kind of quietly goes about their
business and has a really good young quarterback in Drake May.
And the Colts pushed in and they traded for Sauce Gardner,
and I understand it. I didn't. I wasn't doing backflips

(17:48):
over the thought of trading for a corner when you
still need a pass rush. But I got the fact
that having two lockdown corners can alleviate and mask a
lack of pass rush, but they got aggressive with that
trade and they traded away one of their offensive pieces
because that piece hadn't really gotten going, and they traded

(18:10):
away two first round picks. And now here you are
in this position where, yes, maybe it's too early to
begin talking about what happens next season, but I can
tell you this as somebody who was out doing my
holiday shopping over the last week or so. And yes,
I do actually go in the stores on holiday shop.
The number one thing that people ask me, what do

(18:32):
you think happens with Chris Ballard and Schane Sikein? What
should happen with Chris Ballard and Shane Steiken? And I
personally believe nothing will happen with Chris Ballard and Shane Stikeen.
And I think there's probably justification, certainly in Shane Steiken's
case of bringing it back. I think Steichen has shown
himself more often than not to be a pretty good coach.

(18:53):
And I actually think against Seattle with Philip Rivers, Steiken
did a great coaching job. I do. I think he
called a game plan that was very strategically designed to
the limitation of Philip Rivers. And we can talk till

(19:17):
the cows come home about whether or not that was
the right decision to have Rivers in there, and what
they did in clock may. All those things fine, but
I thought they had a pretty good game plan. But
in the form of Chris Ballard, you can absolutely make
the case, totally make the case that repeating the same
process over and over and expecting different results is the

(19:39):
definition of insanity. And if you are Chris Ballard, you
could look at it and say, look, when we were healthy,
we were beating Denver. When we were healthy, we were
beating the Chargers. We were beating these teams that we
would be seeing in the postseason and miss ERSA Gordon.
I'm telling you, just please keep in mind that it

(19:59):
was the endies that really hurt us here, and if
it weren't for those injuries, we'd be in good shape.
But every team has injuries, and most teams find ways
to kind of fight through them because they have a
depth or a backup plan. I know the situation with
Richardson was a freak deal, but at the same time,
even if Richardson was healthy, do you fully feel that

(20:22):
Shane Steichen was comfortable handing him the ball saying Daniel
Jones is out and now we're going back to you
and this is going to keep us where we need
to be. You get the impression they don't even trust
the guy, and that falls on who it was whose
job it was to vet everything and determine whether or
not he should be on the roster. And that's who
you should draft when you finally came to the most

(20:42):
important decision in your tenure. And the guy they selected,
they don't seem to trust. And I know he's hurt,
I get it, but do you really feel they trust him?
And so if you're Chris Ballard, you can point to
it and say, look how close we were if not
for the injuries. And if you're Carli Orsa Gordon, you

(21:06):
can say that might be true, but look how far
off you are now because of the injuries perhaps, but
the hole that we are now in where we don't
know how to get out of it. Daniel Jones is
a huge question market quarterback a huge one. They have
no first round pick the next two years. They better

(21:28):
hope that Achilles heels perfectly and that he returns to
the forum that he was through the first five games.
Those are two big ifs and it rides on that
and the point I'm making here of talking about that
on a game day, on a Monday Night football, when
we should be talking about the awesomeness of Monday Night football.

(21:50):
We should be talking about the excitement of Indiana football.
We should be talking about the fact that the Pacers
are in Boston and I take on the Celtics and
then they come back here and guess who's back to
be booed to. We should be talking about all those things,
and we should be building up the excitement and the
anticipation and the awesomeness of the fact that Monday Night
football's here, and Joe Buck was on the morning show

(22:11):
this morning, and you know all the history of Monday
Night and the excitement of all of it. Except for that,
it just feels like this uncertainty is hanging over it.
Where we're going through the motion of what should be exciting,
but you constantly are looking for that anvil hanging over
your head. That's how I feel, at least. Maybe I'm

(22:33):
pessimistic Pete today, and I don't want to be. It's
holiday week, it's festive, The util tide was awesome. Everybody's
in a great mood and I love it. It's the
most wonderful time of the year, for sure.

Speaker 8 (22:45):
It is.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
But do you truly feel that the future and the
potential and all of it is still in their fingertips?
Do you feel that way? Or are we just going
through the motions and then already starting to prognosticate about
what it is of where this team goes and what's

(23:10):
going to happen. Tonight we'll discover and go over and
analyze who's in and who's out. From an injury standpoint,
you know, you got Theforrest Buckner coming back, You have
the unfortunate situation with Mooney Ward. Now with Sauce Gardner
out as well. You see where that happens. There are
so many things in the hopper that make it perplexing,

(23:33):
and that makes it intriguing. You heard him talking about
it from a national standpoint just before we came on
the storyline for the Colts tonight. The one certainty of
the cult storyline tonight is the uncertainty which Philip rivers.
Are we going to see the one that could come
up to the line and audible and throw pretty precise
seven yard passes or the one that then saw a

(23:55):
defense that said, well, now we know what you can
do that, loaded it up and kind of stalled things out.
What defense are we going to see? What sort of
you know, how uncorked can the San Francisco offense get?
There are certainly intriguing things about it, A lot of
intriguing college football as well, and I know that there
is I get it. For those of you that are

(24:21):
bemoaning the fact that James Madison and Oregon was not
a great game. For those of you bemoaning the fact
that Ole Miss and Tulane was not a great game,
I get it. But at the same time, do you
recall last year SMU and Penn State That game was

(24:45):
a I mean, it was over before it began. Those
introductory games a year ago were the same. It's just
it's an easier narrative now because you have schools without
a lot of branding getting in over the schools that
have branding. But in a world of name, image and
likeness when it comes to name branding and history, those

(25:07):
things are great in terms of cachet, but it doesn't
mean that it should merit you getting in. I saw
somebody say Notre Dame would have beaten Miami, or like
Texas A and m This game is terrible and like
except for they didn't beat either and it was a
terrible game. And Miami wins. The two teams that many
people thought No Tore Dame should have gotten in over,

(25:29):
Miami and Alabama both win and No tre Dame's outstanding.
Like I said, I think they're one of the best
eight teams in college football on the eye test. But
you got to have a resume test as well. That's
a past subject, I realize. But I thought the college
football playoff games were pretty fun to watch. I thought
they were exciting. Yes, there were slugfests in there, for sure,

(25:51):
but Oklahoma Alabama was a great game. It was a
great game. And now it is two programs that are
kind of looking in the mirror former staff members at
each school going against the school that didn't give them
perhaps opportunity to I shouldn't say that, I think both
of them probably. You know, Calen de Boorr obviously was

(26:12):
given opportunity elsewhere and went and took it and left Bloomington.
And then the same with Kurt Signetti. I know a
lot is made of Kurt Signetti was at Alabama for
four years and never got the chance to move up
to head coach. I mean they had a guy named
Nick Saban there that was decent, right, but nonetheless Indiana
Alabama crazy as it sounds, New Year's Rose Bull and

(26:33):
basketball to talk about us, well, Don Fisher will be
the guy on the mic for both and he joins
us next again, we are at that time of year
where it is you know, I shouldn't say this because
you know I was going to say, well where again
at that time of year where basketball and football season
for Indiana, And then I have to remind myself that
like going into the holiday week, to have the football

(26:56):
team still be playing games while the basketball team is
geting said for the Big Ten slate is not necessarily
customary over the last couple of decades, but it has
been the last couple of years. And joining us now,
the guy that has been on the microphone for all
of it, Don Fisher, joins us on the Java House
Peel and Port guest line. Don the last one tonight,
six o'clock tonight for the basketball side of things. That

(27:17):
game can be heard on our sister station, WBC. It
is Indiana and Sienna. This is the last battle before
they get into Big Ten play, and I do want
to talk obviously football, but let's begin basketball wise, and
we got into this a little bit last week, and
that is just if there's an area or a thing
that you think perhaps Daren Debrees looks at with this

(27:38):
roster and says the intrigue or the area that I
need to solidify now or work in this game with
Sienna before going into Big Ten play, what would be
the question mark, if you will, that still hangs for him.

Speaker 9 (27:52):
Well, I think more than anything right now, they're still
trying to figure out the rebounding area, which has been
a troubled spot throughout the season in some respects, not dramatically.
In Indiana's won their share of games that rebounding with
or better than the team that they're playing against. But again,
competition has something to do with that. But I think

(28:12):
the biggest concern that he has right now is his
ball club's ability to rebound the ball at both ends
of the floor, but specifically the offensive end a little
bit more so because they just haven't gotten a lot
of offensive rebounds throughout the year. And one of the
reasons they haven't they're an undersized basketball team compared to

(28:32):
a lot of these teams that they are about to
play face, especially in the Big ten, and so I
know that that's one area that they're working on, but
they're working on a little bit of everything at this juncture.
This is a team still that's not one hundred percent
in the norm of having been around for a long time,
having all that kind of experience together and so on.

(28:53):
So which is a case for a lot of teams
these days, as we know, with the rosters changing hands
with nil and all those kinds of things. But I
think rebounding is the biggest area of concern right now.
And you know, when Sam Alexis went down to that
Kentucky game a little over a week ago, there was
a real holding of the breath by the entire program

(29:14):
because Sam, of course is an undersized post player, but
he's six', eight he's, athletic and he's one of the
two guys they count on in that post position and
Read bailey being the other and read out a really
good game Against siena the other. Night but the thing
about it is they just don't have much depth. There
and if the A lexus had gone down with a
serious knee, injury which could have, happened he got lucky

(29:37):
in the sense that it looked like there was going
to be AN acl tear there if it hadn't happened
the way it, did which was a turn to ankle,
first and that apparently saved HIS. Acl that's WHAT i was.
Told so ALL i can tell you is they are light.
There they're definitely needing more, depth and that's hard to come.
By when you don't you can't change your roster now

(29:57):
if you.

Speaker 4 (29:57):
Know WHAT i, mean sure he done tell. You what's
to me becomes, intriguing is you, know with the size
of The Big ten now, RIGHT i, mean with the
fact of the number of different teams that you, have
theoretically you're going to see stylistically a number of different
ways that you've got to play within the. CONFERENCE i,
mean you have teams that want to play in different.
Fashion two ways to look at. That one is to,

(30:20):
say we have a, style this is how we, play
and we're going to push in on. That the other
is to develop a system where you can have some
versatility and kind of change the way that you. Play
which way do you see this particular Team it Is
devrezemore of The Bob knight mold of this is how
we play and that's, it or do they have some

(30:42):
flexibility on different styles they can.

Speaker 9 (30:45):
PLAY i don't think they've got a lot of flexibility
with this.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
TEAM i just.

Speaker 9 (30:49):
DON'T i think the talent is good enough to be
very competitive in The Big. TEN i don't think that
they have the talent to be a ball club that
plays all half. Court in other, words they like to
get out and. Run they are a transition. Team they
try to get off a three point shot in the
first ten to twelve seconds of the shot clock before

(31:10):
they set up in a half court. Game and that's
the modus operendi of their team most of the. Time
but they've had to play a lot of half court this,
year especially against some of these better teams that they've.
Played and if they can speed teams up and make
them play the way they want, to THEN i think
they can be very. Successful it's hard to do that, sometimes,
however with some of the teams that you play in this.

(31:32):
League and you know that a lot of these ball
clubs like to play the half court game first and
not rely on a three point shot all the, time
and that's What indiana. Does they, do rely on three
point shooting a great deal that's how this roster was.
Constructed Darren debries wanted to get as many good three
point shooters as he could on this, team and he's
gotten three of. Them, obviously his Son tucker's very. Good

(31:54):
Lamar wilkerson is a proven a three point, guy And
Nick doran has come off the bench out the last
several ball games is really shot well from the three
point line once he got back from. Injury SO i
just don't see a lot of ability to change the
way they want to. Play and if you looked at
the game Against Chicago state On, Saturday indiana shot lights

(32:16):
out fourteen to twenty six in the first half of
the three point. Line that was in the first twenty.
Minutes in the second, half they couldn't throw it in the.
Ocean they were one to twenty from the three point.
Line and then they relied on their bigs because the
team that they went up, Against Chicago, state didn't have
a great deal of strength in the front. Line so
they were able to succumb or to Make Chicago states

(32:37):
to come to their wishes in that contest Because Chicago
state just didn't have any size.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
Themselves Don fisher is my guest voice of The Indiana,
hoosiers both on the basketball and football side of. Things
he's on The Java House peel and poor guest. Line. Don,
here here's WHAT i know About Don. Fisher, OKAY i
know obviously that you have a great love For Indiana
athletics and you it is not lost on you the
privilege of being their radio play by play. Voice, OKAY

(33:03):
i know that we've talked about it. Before you, know
you grew up as a. KID i think you liked
baseball as. Well but you also have a great amount
of like patriotism about. You and in addition to, THAT
i think of, you you, know as a family values.
Guy Right going and watching your son's high school football
team and being around family is very important To Don.

(33:23):
Fisher So i'm going to, assume maybe assumptions are, Dangerous
i'm going to assume That christmas is a special. Holiday
like for most of, Us christmas is particularly special To Don. Fisher,
fact fact is.

Speaker 9 (33:36):
Fact there's no doubt it's very special to. Us susie
AND i host two days Of christmas at our. House
the first day Is christmas Eve, day in which my family.
Comes the second day is her family and they join
us For christmas Side Christmas. Day so we have so

(33:56):
much fun on these two. Days but my wife works
her rear end off and she obviously has a full
time gig with The Indiana pacers as you, know so
she gets a ton of. Work she has a ton of.
WORKLOAD i try to help her as much AS i.
Can if you put me in charge of anything cooking,
wise you're dead in the. Water SO i have to

(34:17):
do WHAT i have to, do which you, know whether
that's you, know clean up, afterwards take care of dishes
or what are those kind of, things just keeping all
the grandkids out of, everything then that's my. Job but
she does most of, it and she's phenomenal ased.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
Well she keeps for those that don't, know she keeps
The pacers franchise tied up as, well just in organizing
like virtually everything. Right so so the holiday, thing you,
know for the, Crew i'm glad she's able to do.
That with the family that would be she would be
the perfect person to put that all on because it's
just the automatic. Nature but the REASON i asked it About,

(34:54):
Christmas don is BECAUSE i would imagine That Don fisher
is still in the spirit Of, christmas you, know thinks
About santa and what he wants From. Santa and and
it's been a long time since you since you've been
able to say On, Christmas, SANTA i Want indiana to
Beat alabama and football in a. Week it's, like you
know WHAT i, Mean but here's the. Matchup, now we

(35:15):
know the. Matchup, now just first, off your overall thoughts
on this matchup With alabama and did you get a
chance to Watch Alabama? OKLAHOMA i.

Speaker 9 (35:24):
Did the thing that surprised me about those two teams
in that ball game was the number of mistakes that were.
MADE i was kind of stunned by. THAT i thought
both of them would come in there ready for. Bear
they hadn't had the long spell off Like indiana's having
right now to get ready for this for the ball,
game and they played each other. BEFORE i was just

(35:45):
kind of surprised by the number of mistakes that both
those teams made in that. Contest BUT i was rooting
That alabama would win BECAUSE i felt like that's the
opponent that want TO i want to see our football
team play. Against they are then of THE Sec as everyone,
knows they've struggled a little bit here in the last
couple of. YEARS i Think caylen De, boor who's their,

(36:07):
coach is a guy WHO i revere as a guy
that came To indiana for the twenty twenty season as
the offensive. Coordinator he got ruined BY, covid but it
didn't Ruin indiana season because they went six and through that,
year and it was Because caitlin De boor was such
a good innovator from an offensive, standpoint and of course
he had control Of Michael pennix who went with him

(36:29):
To washington later, on and obviously they went to The
national championship. Game SO i just have a lot of
respect For caitlin De. BOER i Love Kane, wamback who's
their defensive. Coordinator he was also here in that twenty
twenty year With Tom allen and was great at devising
the defenses For indiana in that. Period so there are

(36:50):
a lot of. Impact Nick, SHERIDAN i, think also is
another guy that's went the program down there FROM. Iu
he was a quarterbacks coach at the same. Time so
this is a staff that's that we, know you know
from a personal, standpoint AND i just wanted to Play.
Alabama there are a number of, reasons but not the
least of which is the fact THAT i just want
to see If indiana can knock them off and then

(37:12):
Have paul fine bomb shut.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
Up we'll do whatever it takes for the ladder, there, Right,
yeah don you mentioned. Something it's it's funny because Tonight Philip,
rivers for, example you, know quarterback and The colts and
coming back To, indianapolis and yet it's not like we
really got to know. Him And i'm using air quotes there,
well because he was here during THAT covid season and

(37:33):
everything was just so weird, then, right in terms of
contact and how much you could be around people and
zoom calls and everything. Else the coaches of which you,
mentioned did you get a chance to know them much
or did all of those factors kind of come in
where you were aware of, them but you didn't get
a lot of interaction with.

Speaker 9 (37:49):
Them, well had we had decent interaction with, them because
let's face, it there were no crowds to worry about.
There nobody was coming to games except for. Parents we
had a chance to get out and watch practices and
things like that because everything was so shut down at
the time and you were looking for ways to get

(38:10):
outside and do, Things and so we did have a
chance to Watch indiana football a little bit closer maybe
than we would, otherwise and get to know some of
these guys a little bit better in a very short
period of. Time so, yeah those guys were really good.
PEOPLE i like them a. LOT i think they've taken
over This alabama program and struggled just the, hair but

(38:32):
it's Still, alabama as everybody.

Speaker 4 (38:34):
Knows AND i just look forward.

Speaker 9 (38:36):
To seeing these guys and shaking their hand and congratulating
them on making the, playoffs just Like indiana.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
Has do you have concerned on or intrigue maybe is
the better word about the layoff from An indiana, Standpoint
not because Of, indiana but if you, look you know
by president a year, ago what happened to the teams
that had time? Off it did not go well in
the college football. Playoffs how do you Think indiana handles that?

Speaker 9 (39:01):
Well the REASON i think they can handle it is
because their coach Is Kurt. Signetti he just doesn't let
things go by the. Wayside OR i, mean their practices
have been light at this point in time of, year
so he's given these guys a lot of time to
get healed, up to get the bumps and bruises and
scrapes and all those kinds of things healed. Over but

(39:23):
at the same time he works his team and when
they get out, there they may not go, long but
they go hard when they get on the football, field
AND i JUST i know he knows how to handle
this to some. Degree Although i'm not sure anybody has
ever had a three and a half week layoff before
their first game after finishing out a regular, season so

(39:44):
from that perspective it is. Different it concerns, EVERYBODY i
think a little. Bit but of all the people THAT
i think can handle, IT i think kurtzingn that he.

Speaker 4 (39:52):
Can don For. Christmas aside from An indiana win Over,
Alabama i'm going to Ask santa to give me an
ability to pitch and from forty yards in ONCE i
get to The cup in, golf and That consanta deliver
that kind of a.

Speaker 9 (40:05):
Miracle UNFORTUNATELY i doubt, It and if he, could that
would be the first THING i would ask, for even
over a win Over. Alabama point because it structures into
my life a hecro a lot more, difficult as you, know.

Speaker 4 (40:21):
Fair, Enough, well don, listen you, KNOW i know obviously
you are busy and it certainly gives This dog And
Pony show a credibility each and every week when we
can have you, on your status as a legendary broadcaster
Within indiana is, cemented and so just for a little
part of that cement to come onto this show and
give us some credibility is always. Appreciated so with, THAT

(40:43):
i hope the absolute best for you your family on
both sides On Christmas eve And christmas and the absolute
warmest and most Rewarding christmas for.

Speaker 9 (40:51):
You, WELL i appreciate, That. Jake it's very nice for
you to, say AND i just want to wish everybody
a Merry christmas and a Happy New year and a Go.

Speaker 4 (40:58):
Hoosiers that's, Right don sure the voice of The who's
just appreciate. It don joining us on The Java, House
peel and Poor guest. Line we come. Back it Is
monday night football and that means some pretty special times In.
Indianapolis will tonight be one of? Them we'll discuss and
look back next so, realistically and we're gonna go. Back
AND i KNOW i do this a. LOT i KNOW

(41:20):
i do it a. Lot maybe to a. FAULT i
live in the, past maybe sometimes too, Much But at
the same, time part of it is rooted in. THIS i,
mean If i'm just being transparent, here, okay And john

(41:44):
is the same WAY. Jmv because we talk about this a.
LOT i grew. UP i, Mean i'm, like who's you're
through and? Through cut? ME i bleed the. Torch AND

(42:04):
i have always SAID i am well aware of the
fact THAT i could not do this. Job and give
me off the top of your head right, now mid
market city in The United, States, Atticusco, Cincinnati. CINCINNATI i
don't know THAT i could do this job In. CINCINNATI i,
mean Obviously lance, McAllister and we. Know give me another

(42:26):
city of which we're less. FAMILIAR i Guess Kansas, City Kansas,
city all? Right In Kansas. City soren is the name
of the guy that does middays or afternoon drive In Kansas.
City Chad, boger my college fraternity, brother owns the sports
talk radio station eight ten In Kansas. City If boger

(42:47):
called me up tomorrow and, Said, HEY i got an,
opening you want to be the lead Into, SOORIN i
could talk a Little. KU i could talk a Little
missoo BECAUSE i lived In Saint louis for a while
AND i know That rockhurst is the big private high
school there that's a football. Power AND i know That

(43:08):
Darryl motley hit two home runs In game seven of
the eighty Five World series and they defeated The cardinals eleven.
Nothing And Dane orge hit a base hit as a
pinch hitter In game six after The George orda, play
And John watthon was pinch, hitting and On Ax concepcion
And Jim sumberg. SCORED i, MEAN i know those, things

(43:30):
but that's about the extent of. IT i didn't grow
up knowing the nuances of the constant in and outs
of the. Market AND i grew up here and my
parents are from, here and my grandparents are from, here
or more Specifically napoleon And, Quincy, indiana. Respectively but when

(43:55):
you grow up in those in that, ENVIRONMENT i didn't
necessarily dream of being like a. SPORTSCASTER i dreamed of
being involved In indianapolis and Celebrating indianapolis and being able
to get swept up in the excitement Of. Indianapolis and

(44:15):
it's why my professionalism completely went out the. Window when
The pacers got themselves within one half of winning THE Nba,
championship BECAUSE i knew every TIME i walked into those,
games The cleveland, series The New York, series and notably the.
Finals every TIME i walked into those, GAMES i knew

(44:38):
first off what it would mean To, shannon who The
pacers are the world to. Her but more specifically or,
EQUALLY i GUESS i thought about for me and my
buddies growing up and going to The Brown curtain games
And Wayman tisdale games and getting, excited you, know seeing
the rise of The reggie. Teams each time THAT i went.

(45:01):
In it took me back to Where i've been with
the sports in this town and in doing sports talk
radio and A monday night football game with The San
francisco forty nine ers in. Town the thing that WHEN
i was a KID i thought about was just being
able to soak in moments like this and go down

(45:21):
and take in the atmosphere and see it. All and
so Therefore i'm able to WHEN i see That monday
night football is. Here, YES i know the question marks
that come for The colts in terms of where this
season is headed and where they were versus where it
looks like they're going to. BE i know THAT i

(45:42):
know the question mark at who's going to be the
quarterback long term for this. FRANCHISE i know the disappointment
of they don't have a first round pick the next two.
YEARS i know the reality of they got fat by beating. Teams,
Yes denver and The chargers were impressed, wins but outside
of that twenty and fifty five total record of the

(46:02):
teams they've beaten this. YEAR i know all those. Things
BUT i also know how exciting it was When Eric
dickerson was running for four touchdowns And Bill brooks was
juking out the entire defensive backfield of The Denver. BRONCOS
i know how exciting it was when The colts started
out undefeated And Peyton manning Hit Marvin harrison on the
opening play against The Pittsburgh. STEELERS i know how incredibly

(46:24):
electric this city was and incredulous After Peyton manning's come
back In tampa On Monday night. FOOTBALL i know what
it meant to turn On Monday Night football in the
late eighties early nineties and think the whole world is
watching our. City and so tonight with this game With San,
francisco with all of the question marks around this, TEAM

(46:46):
i actually think about it and get ready for it
and prepare for, it and the little kid of me
comes out again because it is, special it is. Meaningful
but is it meaningful for this, team this, roster and
this future and what do we look for above and
beyond living in the. Past i'm Not it's Like George

(47:08):
costanzo with the clown On. Seinfa you're living in the, past,
Man you're hung up with some clown from the. Sixties.
Man i'm not trying to be hung up on some
team from the nineties or from the two, thousands of
the mid two. Thousands but For Monday Night, football that's
WHERE i take myself AND i want a team that
now in twenty twenty, five has us as it looked
like at the beginning of the. Year back to where

(47:30):
that is and if they're going to do that this
year and salvage, it they got to begin with. It,
Tonight Mike chapple joins us next to talk about that
and find out who's in and out for The Colts
Monday Night. Football lots of great. Memories matter of, fact
one of the guys responsible for, In Bill, brooks so
you'll hear on the postgame show, tonight will be joining

(47:50):
us coming up about an hour from. Now you Heard
Al michael's there The monday night miracle In. Tampa did
not have on The bingo card for today to Hear
James mungro Or Adrese basher's names. Called but that's who
you heard in those. Highlights and then of Course Shane
steichen And Zire franklin talking about tonight with The San
francisco forty nine ers in THIS i know that the

(48:12):
second to last game of a season is the. PENULTIMATE
i don't know what the this is the penultimate to
the penultimate three games left for The colts and joining
us now to discuss that and. More he is on
The Java House peel And poor guest Line Mike, CHAPLIN
cbs four and Wxin fox fifty. Nine Chap let's begin
with this from the standpoint of the health issue for The,

(48:33):
colts those that are in and those that are. Out
is there any anything new that might be surprising the
people as to who is going to work their way
in or who was still held?

Speaker 8 (48:43):
Out no other than as The colts announced they activity
or they added The Forrest buker to the active, roster
which is a big, deal and they're still gonna be
Without Mooney ward And Sauz. Gardner i'm telling. You i'm telling,
you IF i had the choice Between, mean The Forest
buckner And Sauce, gardner as far as, IMPORTANCE i take

(49:06):
The Forest. BUCKNER i Have buck in the lineup THAN
i would one of those. Corners he's that good and
he's that as close to irreplaceable on, defense shoot on
the team as you can. Get he comes, Back Bernie
ryman's not. Playing we'll see what they do on the offensive.

(49:26):
Line so that that's the main, thing Is bucks, back
and it gives them a much better chance to play decent.

Speaker 4 (49:35):
Defense So ryman is, back though correct with the. Nail
he is.

Speaker 8 (49:39):
Out he said he's, Out he practiced limited whatever the.
Day the wee from has that Best, saturday but they
really out he's he's not. Playing uh it's so they're
gonna have to mix a match on the offensive, line
and it comes against the team that's got sixteen, facts
which is the worst in the league by a handful of.

(50:01):
Sexs so hopefully they'll be able to Protect rivers and
let him play the position better than they did the first.

Speaker 4 (50:10):
Game Chapter you anticipate over the course of the, week
Did Shane stiken tip his hand in any way in this,
area MEANING i actually, thought and Maybe i'm in the minority,
HERE i Thought Shane stikeen in That seattle game might
have turned in his best coaching performance of the. Year because,
YES i realized they did not win that, game but

(50:31):
given all of the variables of going into the quarterback
play and et, CETERA i thought he called a very
smart game for feeling it out and getting a feel
for what they had In Philip rivers and keeping them in.
Contention does did we see everything that that relationship has
to offer or do you Think steichen has more in the?

(50:53):
Bag did He did he tip his hand in any
way on?

Speaker 1 (50:55):
That?

Speaker 8 (50:57):
Well there needs to be. More, FIRST i put on
social media after the game THAT i had Got styke
And ando through almost the perfect. Game you're head sixteen
to fifteen with forty seconds to go and the other
teams on their thirty seven no, TIMEOUTS i mean with
and again taken into account all your personnel, limitations and

(51:19):
there were, Plenty SO i, thought, yes they squeezed every
ounce out of what they could. Do it just in
the indus wasn't, enough you, KNOW a not a good
enough kickoff after the field, goal and then two plays
That Sam dartle made that if you stop either one

(51:41):
have been, bounds you probably win the. Game SO i,
thought considering, everything, yes it was his best, game but
there's got to be. More it's just you Can't and
they know. That they know that was so specific to,
well he's been here three days and you know he
hasn't played for five. Years they really had to have
a dumbed down game. Plan they just. Did and but

(52:04):
having said, that it's got to be it's there's got
to be. More he averaged four point four yards and
an attempt like six yards of, completion and all that
does when you've got to run the ball With Jonathan,
taylor all that does is make it harder to run
the ball With john jon And. Taylor so you've got
you've got you, Know Alec, pears who leads the league

(52:25):
in yards for. Catch you've you've got to stretch the
field some at least at least pose the, threat WHICH
i think they, will but they're still Gonna they ran
more than they threw last week by a. FEW i
think they still run more this. Week they have, to
but and this is A niners defense that's that's. Kuttable

(52:46):
they're they're not strong against the. Run and again the
pass rush should be not super bad with perhaps you
know not not perhaps the two backup. Tackles but, yes
and and and we've off To shane enough to know
that there has to be. MORE i Think rivers will be.
More you, know this was a normal week For Philip
rivers to where you come, in you get all these

(53:08):
days for pared last week was not, normal, right it
comes in he's. Cramming so, yes there needs to be,
more AND i think there will be.

Speaker 4 (53:17):
More did you see did you see In Rivers chap
more that could be? There in other, words did you
know WHAT i? Mean, LIKE i understand that they had
to kind of simple it down because of exactly. That,
right you're just throwing it out. There but now that
he's had that, week and now that maybe they can,
ent you, know look at more, film go over some.
Differ do you feel that from a physical standpoint or

(53:40):
a skill set standpoint in twenty twenty five that there
is more there that can tap into With Philip?

Speaker 8 (53:46):
Rivers boy and it if it's a yes or, No
i'd say. NO i mean it's the same guy it's
the same forty four year old. Arm maybe he recognizes things,
Quicker but as far as getting the ball from POINT
a to POINT b quicker with more. VELOCITY i think

(54:06):
getting it there quicker would be recognizing the play. QUICKER
i don't think all of a, sudden he's gonna start
throwing lasers all over the field. TONIGHT i just that's,
first that's not who he was when he, played you,
know at the right, Age so that that but that's
a that's a great. Question you can devise all the
game plans you, want and if the quarterback can't carry,

(54:27):
that can't make the. Throw if you, can't you, can
you can block it up to where you've got time
to get the ball sixty yards fifty yards down field the.
Piers but the quarterback back can't do, it then what
are you doing? That that's a really good. Point we'll find.
OUT i think that whether he can or, not they're
going to. Try they need to. Try but but that's

(54:50):
what we're going to see one another. Week and, again
maybe part of it with the throwing is that his
legs weren't under him as they shouldn't have. Been as
far you, know the quarterbacks their legs to throw off
of and really push off. Of and maybe he's a
lot better this, week but they simply have To they've

(55:10):
got to do more than they. Did him throwing for
one hundred and twenty yards isn't going to cut. It
it's NOT jt averaging six three point six might be
okay running the. Ball if you're getting more from the pass,
game that'll be a really interesting thing to Watch. Sniders
one one will they try?

Speaker 7 (55:28):
It and?

Speaker 8 (55:29):
Two Can rivers do it?

Speaker 4 (55:30):
Well AND i, thought you, know obviously they went with
a Mere abdullah out of the backfield with the passing,
game which IS i would assume that part of that
was just to Allow rivers kind of the comfort, level
the familiarity with the. Layups do we. Continue do you
believe to See abdullah at that?

Speaker 8 (55:49):
LEVEL i think, so because, again you, know IF jt
runs the ball twenty five, times you, know AND i
realized he's he prepares for this and all, this but
at some point you do need to give him a.
Breather And abdulla is a better receiver out of the
back Of he simply, is and that's.

Speaker 4 (56:07):
It And rivers has always had a guy like, that
Right he's always had a bailout out of backfield guy Darren.

Speaker 8 (56:13):
SPROLLS i mean, goodness. Crations how many times had he
Tormented colts with? Rivers so, yeah no question. Again if
there's thirty rushes again this, week twenty five need to BE.
Jt but Get abdullah involved the past game and hit

(56:33):
those underneath crossers and then you, know but you got
to get everybody more. Involved Tyler warren has disappeared in
the last three or four, games and that's not a
reflection on. Him it's a reflection on the rest of
or how the quarterback play has has declined with the
injuries To jones and Then rivers coming. In they've got
to get back to the players who carry, them who

(56:55):
have carried, them which IS jt And Tyler warren for
the most. Part hopefully they can they can scratch into
that tonight because they're gonna you. Can't you can't win, sixteen, eighteen,
nineteen but they're one six this. Year when they don't
when they score twenty or fewer and they've lost WHAT
i THINK i looked it, up they've lost eleven straight

(57:17):
and twenty four twenty seven when they going to score
more than twenty so in TODAY'S, nfl And i'm telling
you that The niners are going to score twenty. Points
they just. Are so you got to score and hopefully they.
Can they can get the quarterback first in the position
to do that and then he's able to execute the game.

Speaker 4 (57:37):
Plan Chap here's a question That Mike chapples my guest
TO cbs FOUR wxa On fox fifty nine where you see.
Him he's on The Java house peeling poor guest. Line
java house dot com is the website For They're Fabulous Instant,
Coffee Liquid science and energy. Products Chap here's a question
that typically there is a more slam dunk answer at

(57:58):
this point in the, year But i'm going to ask
it and then think about it and give me an.
Answer you're. Ready who's the best team in THE Nfl?
RAMS i think?

Speaker 6 (58:08):
So?

Speaker 4 (58:08):
HUH i think?

Speaker 7 (58:09):
So.

Speaker 8 (58:09):
YEAH i still lost the other. NIGHT i think they're
pretty dark on Good AND i tell, you If Matthew
stafford wins AN, mvp which he probably will probably and
gets to The Super bowl wins another, one he will
be a Slam Dunk hall Of. Famer he's probably there,
anyway BUT i think he's been one of the more

(58:33):
underappreciated players over the course of his career because he,
was you, know dying In. Detroit, YEAH i think they're pretty.

Speaker 4 (58:42):
Good yeah They and you, know there are only a
handful of teams that you would say this about or
quarterbacks that you would say this about right. Now but
the thing about The rams is that game you're talking,
about which the other night was one of the one
of the best regular season games you're going to see
in THE. Nfl it was. Fabulous But stafford is one
of those that you give him The when that guy

(59:04):
trots out on the field and you look at his
eyes inside of the last two, minutes you, go, yeah good.
Luck you know WHAT i. MEAN i mean he seems
very very dialed, in and offensively they are very well,
balanced and then defensively they got some, pieces.

Speaker 8 (59:18):
Right, yeah that's why you look AT acnc in THE
AC i look At buffalo and their. DEFENSE i don't
trust that defense at. ALL i do, Not BUT i
Trust Josh. ALLEN i just he's gonna if you let
him hang, around he's gonna beach in the fourth. Quarter
he just is with all with all the, deficiencies and
he doesn't have doesn't have great, weapons but he's got

(59:40):
a really good running game With cook who who right
now is the head OF jt in the league. Rushing of,
course he's got the extra. Game BUT i like those
two right. Now everybody else has got, significant significant question.
Marks it seems Like. Seattle there are times in games
Where Sam darling you, think, god oh that's The sandarnald we,

(01:00:01):
Though and then he's got a fourth quarter where he
drags him back and he beats The, rams WHO i
think is the best. Team so, yeah it's really interesting
the year this Year New. ENGLAND i sort of want
to believe in, him and, well they had a great game,
yesterday BUT i don't totally trust the young. QUARTERBACK i don't. Know,

(01:00:22):
yeah but he looks Like buffalo and The rams right.

Speaker 4 (01:00:25):
Now New england's a fascinating. One and this is going
to segue to another Team i'm talking about because it
does tie into The. Colts Mike, chapel my. Guest New
england's interesting because there's nothing about them that jumps out at,
you that alarms. You AND i don't know how many
people really have paid attention To New, england but watching
them last, Night New england did something for the first
time since The colts bye, week and that is they

(01:00:48):
delivered a result that The colts needed for The colts
playoff push here, right because they Were every other game
has gone against the way The colts needed it to.
Go they Needed baltimore to lose last, night And baltimore.
Did BUT i, Thought Drake, may it's been a long
time Since i've sat and watched a game like that
and seen a player THAT i, thought you know, WHAT
i don't know Where i've, been but this guy looks to,

(01:01:08):
me he looked like he has taken the next step
in pocket presence and poise and just knowing when to,
run when to throw it, away et. Cetera he looks
really good to meet Chap.

Speaker 8 (01:01:21):
WELL'S i think he's like leading the league in completion,
percentage and you see. It the ball is, There it's
where it needs to, be in the right. Spot he's
got just enough talent around. Him the running game is pretty.
Good the running game can be pretty dominant if they
want it to. Be but they've got you got tight,
ends they got receivers making. Plays the defense is pretty.

(01:01:42):
Good they're probably maybe a year ahead of schedule on
maybe where people thought they might be with, everything but
you don't win that many games and put yourself in
that position to win the division just by, luck by
falling into. It so, yeah they're pretty. GOOD i still
Like buffalo because of the. QUARTERBACK i just. Do he's

(01:02:05):
got that extra he's that guy in again Like. Peyton
you were playing The clipper earlier with The tampa game
WHERE i made it a. Point i've got a disc
A cd of that game And i'll pull up it
in every every so, often and with like five minutes to,
play it's thirty five to. Fourteen you cannot win that,

(01:02:26):
game yet they. Did so that quarterback gives you the.
Chance and the guys we've talked, about those quarterbacks give
me a, Chance.

Speaker 4 (01:02:34):
Chap when you look at THE afc right, now the
guy that you talk, About Peyton manning and you And
i've discussed this And i've said it on the radio
one thousand. Times the player THAT i was convinced was
A Peyton manning era apparent Is Trevor. Lawrence when he came.
OUT i watched him every snap in. College the, size the,

(01:02:56):
poise the ball, placement all of it, Right AND i
know that you KNOW i had The Urban meyer experiment
and all, that and there's been a lot of more
bumps than road at. All The LATIN i don't knock on,
WOOD i guess for The colts fans is a bad.
Thing the last five, weeks no one is talking about
the fact that it seems to have come together For

(01:03:16):
Trevor lawrence and he is playing at a very high.
Level and don't look, NOW i haven't heard anybody mention,
this But jacksonville now has taken over THE Afc south
and very quietly and off radar is you, know they're
firmly in control and maybe even to put themselves in
placement for THE. Afc but my question for, You Mike,

(01:03:37):
chappel is this is this a mirage or Has jacksonville
finally gone through?

Speaker 8 (01:03:42):
Puberty i've been through. This how many times have we
have we Been? Jacksonville, yes right, By and it's a.
Fact it's, like, oh you know back in six years. Ago,
no it's been like three or four times where you, think,
man they finally got it together and he even with
With Trevor, lawrence you, think, man this is who everyone

(01:04:04):
thought he would. Be you, know he's past The Urban meyer.
Nightmare but, no you're right right. NOW i, mean there's
probably good as bad as anybody for the number one.
SEED i Just i've just been burned too many times
by The, jaguars and having said, that they're probably playing
as well as. Anybody it's just that nobody outside of

(01:04:26):
jag outside of Du, bo wants to believe in, them
and they've given you too many reasons to not believe in.
Them and all they're going to do is say we don't,
care and they're taking care of business. Again The colts
had a firm grip on the division until the second
half of the, season and right now The jaggs are

(01:04:48):
taking care of their second half of the. Season so,
YEAH i won't be surprised if they're the number one.
SEED i won't be surprised if they slip and and
they're playing in the last week of the season during
the division because, something you, know they mucked something, up.

Speaker 4 (01:05:06):
And that MUCKs up that up could be that the who,
knows can The, colts you, know do The colts get?
THEM i, mean that's it's going to be a must
win chap one in with, this you, KNOW i, mean
you AND i have talked about this a thousand. Times
the special element Of monday night football And monday night
football being you, know being in town and the strobe

(01:05:27):
lights and the spotlights on your city and the aerial
shots of downtown and all of, it and the buzz
and the energy of all of. It and maybe it's
Because i'm. Older maybe it's because The colts certainty of
their future is in flux and we don't know where
they go from here and if they're going to make
the playoffs and et. Cetera and the year has gone
south on them a little. Bit and maybe it's Because

(01:05:49):
monday night football just in, general you now have primetime
games all the, time? Right is there less gust of
wind in the sales for A monday night? MATCHUP a
because this is a city that has built itself up
from AN nfl, standpoint and we have seen the mountaintop

(01:06:10):
so many times that now it's old hat or b
because of the THINGS i just mentioned of viewership is
just different than it used to. Be or, See, jake
you're out of your. Mind it's just as big a
deal as it was in eighty.

Speaker 8 (01:06:23):
SEVEN i think it's IT'S i think it's nearly as
big of a deal because, again you're You're you're the
only game ON i realized you can say that About Thursday,
night but that's totally. Different, NO i still think there's
that BUZZ i. Do and part of that is Where i'm.
Ingrained is all the times The colts were On Monday

(01:06:44):
night during that great two, thousand a couple of times a,
year and great games and special. Games you, know they've
but they they've. Lost they've lost four or five in
a row On Monday, night and some of them haven't
been very. Attractive but, still this is WHERE i think
you AND i, agree but a lot of the fan
base may. Not is is the value that the community

(01:07:08):
value of Having Monday night with all the cut, up you,
know the lead ins and breakouts of the, broadcast with
with sites From. Indianapolis The chamber Of commerce can't pay
for that kind of advertisement and, Visibility SO i think it's.
COOL i still think it's a big. DEAL i think
it's still as maybe not as big of a, deal

(01:07:29):
but nothing is as big as it used to, be
just because there's so much. MORE i think if you
go back and look at viewership and all That Monday
night still near the. TOP i don't sometimes it doesn't
most of the times it doesn't matter who's playing unless
you got two, really really crappy, teams and then maybe
people watch something. Else BUT i think it's a big.

(01:07:52):
Deal i've always enjoyed it back at The paper when
we actually had serious. DEADLINES i, mean you had to
have your story done at a certain. Time monday night
games where a painter are. In The tampa game was
horrific in one regard because it went so, long but
it made you really work your tail, off and all
of us at the start put out a great product

(01:08:13):
the next day in a historic. GAME i still think
it's got that buzz to, it AND i, hope again
we're not involved with The. Colds we cover, them but
we're not. INVOLVED i hope they play well and find
a way to, win just because it would do something
for the. Franchise it's right now stuck in a bad

(01:08:36):
way for a lot of. Reasons and, again like you,
said we'll see where this goes in the, offseason but
this is the chance against a pretty dog on Good
niners team to sort of, say, yeah we've been through
some tough, things but we've still got what it takes
in that one. Game and then course you play this
and then you got to play next time you get To.

(01:08:57):
Jacksonville but it's a big. DEAL i Hope cult fries.

Speaker 4 (01:09:00):
To, it you, Know, CHAP i always remember you mentioned
that the deadlines of That monday night game With, tampa and,
yeah we're talking about a twenty plus old. Game you,
know that game will live forever in this. Town but you,
KNOW i was working back At channel six And dave
first was down In tampa And i'll never. Forget you,
know it's thirty five, Fourteen the highlights were, cut it

(01:09:21):
was ON, abc it was on our, air so we
had a postgame show and by the time it got
to maybe twenty one and the culture driving And. Dave
this was the early years of texting as. Well dave
sends me a Text it's, like do we need to
maybe start redoing the highlights here for the postgame? Show
And i'm, LIKE i. Don't let's see what. Happens and then,
boom you, Know bashir gets the on side and all

(01:09:41):
of a, sudden it's, like holy cow man and, Everyone,
Chap i'm telling you right, now it's just like they,
say there were two million people that Saw Wilt chamberlain
score one hundred points in that game In, Hershey. Pennsylvania,
right there were literally every person In. INDIANAPOLIS i kiding
out there were twelve people that saw that live because
the number of people the next day that emailed the, Station,

(01:10:02):
right can you replay the fourth quarter? PLEASE i went to.
Bed it was. Unbelievable but we'll see what happens. Tonight peyton.

Speaker 8 (01:10:08):
Said he he got voicemails the next day and, oh,
sorry you guys got beat last night and all this
and what was Funny just a side, note the agrees
for she recovering that onside kick that was. Illegal THE
nfl came. BACK i, say you, know because it didn't
hit the ground so the other team's got a chance
to fare catch. It And Rachier cartas was an illegal

(01:10:29):
play that helped.

Speaker 4 (01:10:29):
Come so that's very. Beautiful that is. Beauty and then
and then you hit the leaping. CALL i, mean what
in the.

Speaker 8 (01:10:34):
World, yeah he Didn't simmey And rice sign here a
few years later when he couldn't play any. Longer but,
yeah it was pretty. Amaze and In vaynerjacktion game winning,
Kick Rick corchet is off the goal.

Speaker 4 (01:10:46):
POST i Remember simmy And rice when he signed here
and he was made. Available and the first THING i,
SAID i was, like what exactly is? Leaping and he's,
like come, on come. On he wasn't here very, long
but he's a good. Dude CHAP i appreciate.

Speaker 1 (01:10:58):
It.

Speaker 4 (01:10:58):
Man we'll see you down there. Tonight we, will all,
Right Mike chapel joining us on the guest, Line Java
House peel and poor guest. Line Bill brooks was part
of the first really big moment for mone in. Football
but he's also part of the postgame. BROADCAST i want
to get his thoughts on this. Matchup we'll do that
in the two o'clock hour when we come. Back there
is somewhat of a. Controversy but is it a. CONTROVERSY

(01:11:20):
i don't think it. Is i'm going to voice my
opinion on it on the college side of things as
we get set and the bowl games are, underway the,
playoffs all of. It BUT i think there's an argument
that can be screamed from the. Mountaintops but it's like
a tree falling in a forest with nobody. AROUND i
don't think anybody hears. It i'll explain. Next thanks To
Mike chapel for his. Time Merry, christmas to Everybody christmas

(01:11:43):
week here In, Indianapolis, nathaniel don't call Me. Atticus finch
is in For Eddie garrison. Today, atticus you have how
many people that you buy for For? Christmas? Oh maybe
like five or? Six not too? Much and your level
of shopping is WHERE i am usually by, now well buttoned.

(01:12:06):
Down i'm usually long done by, now but this year
is different for. You you have how much? Left i'm?
DONE i just got to find out how to wrap it.
All and that is not my strong. Suit that is the.
Worst are you like? Me and the fact that when
you wrap it you end up with like nine pounds
of tape because you have half the entire roll of
wrapping paper in one. Corner, yeah that's about. Right and

(01:12:29):
every TIME i learn how to do, It i'll forget
by the next holiday. Totally, Yeah you've got to be
like very left brained or something in order to do
the wrapping. Perfectly and that is not.

Speaker 9 (01:12:39):
Me but.

Speaker 4 (01:12:43):
This time of, year there's nothing like the. Weekends this
time of year from a sports, STANDPOINT i love it
because there's just there's games going, on there's bowl games going,
on there's you, know obviously The big Ten indiana in
action tonight as we talked about taking On sienna that
game six o'clock. Tonight you can hear it on our sister, STATION.
Wibc you got The colts game, Tonight pacers in action

(01:13:06):
tonight In, boston and The College Football, playoff and over the,
weekend yes after we had two outstanding Games Oklahoma alabama
was that was a great. Game it's a great, game
and you know you're watching that and you know it's,

(01:13:28):
exciting and then you transition over and you're, Like, okay everyone.
Knew we all knew. IT i think we all knew
what the reality was With James madison And oregon And
tulane And Ole miss And TEXAS a and M. Miami
was not esthetically a great, game but it was at

(01:13:50):
least a close, game, Right AND i understand especially when
if you look at the team's left Out vanderbilt good,
story upstart, story although their quarterback has kind of you,
know he's done the anti media, tour But Notre dame

(01:14:13):
being the biggest snub in The College Football. Playoff and
this is What i've always, said if there was an
eighty two team, tournament no matter the, sport if there's
an eighty two team. Tournament then you're gonna get people
jumping up and down saying where should have been number eighty?

(01:14:34):
Two the eighty third team got. SNUBBED i, mean THE
ncaa Basketball tournament has sixty eight teams in, it yet
there is, constantly every, year annually an uproar over someone
that got left, out and they want to expand. It,
yeah exactly. Right you were always going to have those,

(01:14:55):
discussions and here is a secret for. You that's why
they do it that, way because what's, it. Doue it
means that in the, barbershop it means that in the
bar it means that on the radio people are talking
about the college football. Playoff and you can argue till

(01:15:18):
you're blue in the face and the cows come, home
or till the cows that themselves are blue in the
face come. Home you can argue all day long about
whether or not the weekly ranking release shows are valid
or needed or necessary whatever. Else but guess what then
people talk about, it which is the entire. Goal and

(01:15:42):
THE Ncaa Men's Basketball tournament look nationwide and culturally in
this country at sporting events that transcend their. Sport it's
narrowing down many of them. Left there was a time

(01:16:04):
when everyone in the dinner table back when people did,
that would sit down and, say, oh by the, way
who Won wimbledon, today or who won The, masters or
who won The indianapolis five, hundred or who won The Kentucky.
Derby those were the sports that the events that transcended

(01:16:29):
their respective sport to the point where people THAT i
grew up in this, town AND i was probably fifteen
years old BEFORE i even knew that there was a
racing series beyond The indy five, hundred because The indy
five hundred was so big it transcended the. Sport The

(01:16:50):
Kentucky derby transcended horse. Racing and those events have gone
even fewer the number of events that you put in that.
Category but THE Ncaa Men's Basketball tournament And March madness
is one of. Them and why do we call It March?
Madness and why do we love? It people don't love

(01:17:13):
it when it's all. Chalk the ratings might go up
because people want to see the element of the championship
game and people like to watch good, Basketball but in
the opening rounds of THE ncaa, tournament the thing that
you're waiting for the moments that are, iconic the things
that we talk about, forever the high that we constantly
chase is The Bryce drew shot And Northern iowa Shocking

(01:17:38):
kansas And STEVEN. F austin hitting a miraculous, shot And
South alabama And Peanut butter And jelly making a run
And Loyola marymount getting to The elite eight And Little
butler shocking the world and getting to The final four
not once but. Twice those are the things About March
madness that we. Love and we can sit here and

(01:17:59):
say till the cows come, HOME i ain't giving out
no participation, trophies and looking At James madison In, tulane
is participation trophy. Crap they don't deserve to be. There they.
Do they deserve to be there because the opportunity or
the element of the smaller conference getting their shot and

(01:18:22):
Being mylin or Being South. Alabama that's what Makes March
madness what it. Is and if you jumped up and
down in the OLD bcs era saying that college basketball
needs a, tournament so why doesn't college football have, one
then you need to also say part of the reason
you were jumping up and down about that and using

(01:18:43):
college basketball as the barometer is because it's the greatest
tournament in the. World and the reason it's the greatest
tournament in the world is not because people celebrated the
fact That duke won back to back titles in ninety
one and ninety, two or celebrate the fact That Michigan
state represented The Big ten and won a national, championship
or celebrate the fact That connecticut With Danny hurley went

(01:19:06):
back to. Back that's not what people get excited. About
they get excited about the first two days of it
and the magic of it. All and so from the football,
standpoint they're going to do what they can to have
the opportunity for that same. Magic and as for participation,
Trophies i'm JUST i it makes me laugh WHEN i

(01:19:28):
hear people jump up and down about how absurd participation
trophies are Because i'm, like, well number, one you're the
adult in the room and you're the one handing them.
Out and number, two you can't sit here and tell
me that those things were invented ten years, ago BECAUSE
i got news for. You five years. Ago my parents
called me up and, said, hey we're, moving come get

(01:19:49):
all your crap out of your old. CLOSET i. WENT
i had one. TRUNK i opened it. Up it was
nothing but a bunch of trophies of me From Alisonville Christian.
Church in Alisonvill Little, league other than The giants and
A Warren fields, team we were dynamically. Dominant by the,
way other than that, team every TEAM i was. Unsucked
Alisonville Little, League Major. MINERS i was on The. Indians we're.

(01:20:12):
Terrible Alisonville Little, league my. MAJORS i was on The
Red sox, sponsor BUT i love heating and. Air by the,
way we're. Average Alisonville Christian. CHURCH i was on The,
tigers The, cubs The, indians in The White, Sox we're.
TERRIBLE i have a trophy for every year because guess,
what these aren't figments of our. Imagination until ten years,

(01:20:33):
ago that just became a new. Thing participation trophies have
always been, around they just haven't always been used as an.
Excuse but the reality, is when it comes to the
college Football, PLAYOFF i say keep it as it. Is
get me Too, lane give Me James. Madison, yes they
may well get, beaten just like last. YEAR smu out

(01:20:54):
of THE acc got their doors blown.

Speaker 8 (01:20:56):
Off but.

Speaker 4 (01:21:00):
Once you have one of those that pulls off a
win and creates an, upset that's what it is that
brings you. Back because we talk About South alabama and
we talk About Bryce, drew and we talk about the
little guys In March, madness and we've never ever mentioned
the fact That indiana Beat fairfield ninety two fifty eight
to open the eighty seven, tournament because that's the way

(01:21:23):
it's supposed to. Be but when the little guy does do,
it that's why it's, there and that's how It's that's
how it should. Be and If Notre dame wanted to get,
in they would have Beaten miami Or TEXAS a AND.
M and If vanderbilt wanted to get, in they would
have compiled a couple more wins in THE sec et.
Cetera all, right how excited are you for Tonight monday night?

(01:21:44):
Football as A colts? FAN i want to know at, two, three,
nine ten seventy the telephone. NUMBER i want to know right?
Now are you looking at this, like let's push all.
In i'm excited because The colts still have the post
within their grasp AND i haven't given up on the
possibilities of what could be or are you excited because

(01:22:09):
it's the holiday season and it's gonna be a good
time to be downtown and it's gonna be a lot of,
Fun but you also have turned the page on the.
EAR i, really, truly genuinely want to know where your
thought is as A colts fan right, now two three
nine ten seventy the telephone Number Bill, brooks two o'clock.

Speaker 1 (01:22:29):
Hour you're listening To query And company on ninety three
five and one oh seven five the.

Speaker 4 (01:24:09):
Right so your thoughts on the game? Tonight you heard my?
Question this is your mindset going into? It would be what.

Speaker 7 (01:24:17):
Very excited because it's the holiday season and it's cool
to See Philip rivers play in front of the, crowd
AND i don't get to go To. INDIA i haven't
been To indy since the two thousand and six, season
so just seeing the stadium under the lights and that
night is also really. Cool, however been with my wife
for eleven, years been trying to tell Her, Yep, Colts, Colts.
Colts i'm probably the Biggest colts fan In, colorado and

(01:24:38):
it just seems like every year we're trying to find
things to be excited about and it's getting kind of.
Annoying the beginning of the season was like the best
beginning of the. Season, yeah we felt so long and
it was great and the high was really, high but
it was like a tease and we are Excited we're
going to party tonight and Watch. Philip But i'm kind

(01:24:59):
of tired of The philip rivers or the Just, saturdays
and it's always something to be, Like, okay, guys we're,
here but they're not really.

Speaker 1 (01:25:07):
There.

Speaker 4 (01:25:07):
Colin let me ask, you, so did you grow up In.

Speaker 7 (01:25:09):
Indiana, no but my family's From Fort, Wayne, indiana The timan.

Speaker 4 (01:25:14):
Family that's, right a Huge that's how you Became that's
how you became A colts, fan, Right, yes AND.

Speaker 7 (01:25:21):
I was a little kid And Teton banning was. Huge and,
yeah actually the year that The colts won The Super
bowl and my dad passed away In, NOVEMBER i was,
fifteen and then they Beat Tom brady and then they
won The Super bowl in two thousand and, six SO
i was like super. Impressionable ever since, Then i'm a
HUGE i listened to the shows every. DAY i watch every,
game every snap Like i'm a freak about this. Shit so,

(01:25:42):
oh sue my.

Speaker 4 (01:25:43):
Language i'm, say, okay well listen You colorado. People, MAN
i realized it's that altitude up, there, right it's the,
brain the oxygen deprivation on the. Brain but, NO i get,
it and we will see. TONIGHT i appreciate AND i love, It.
COLIN i appreciate that seeing the city on stage tonight

(01:26:05):
is a merit to. You but, yes this season is
a little Like Full Metal. Jacket first half is. Awesome
second half you're, like, YEAH i don't, know, man what?
Happened like this was good until the. Second you, know
two different, movies, right two movies in. One ben is up? Next?
Ben what's going?

Speaker 5 (01:26:22):
On?

Speaker 4 (01:26:26):
Ben you?

Speaker 6 (01:26:26):
There can you hear? Me?

Speaker 4 (01:26:28):
YEAH i hear? You what's, Up, Ben i'm.

Speaker 6 (01:26:31):
In a very similar situation as colling out In.

Speaker 10 (01:26:33):
COLORADO i, Mean i've been a cold spam my whole.
Life i'm thirty six, now and you, know this past
we've been pretty spoiled with The manning era and The luck.
Era but ever since That josh McDaniel, switcheroo there's been
nothing but bad stuff going. On AND i want to
see my team do. GREAT i want to root for my,

(01:26:54):
team BUT i don't know when is it time to
hit that big reset.

Speaker 4 (01:26:57):
Button, well, now when you said reset, Button, ben do
you mean reset for yourself as a, fan resetting fighting
a new, team or do you mean from the franchise? Itself?

Speaker 6 (01:27:08):
No from the.

Speaker 10 (01:27:08):
Franchise, No i'm a sick and thin kind of kind of.
Fan i'm bearing, loyal you, know And i've been AN
iu fan my whole life, Too So i've watched you,
know awful, games and So i'm revving in these past
two seasons FOR. Iu but the other thing, is if
you do hit that big reset button when it comes
to The colts, franchise is what general manager and what

(01:27:32):
coach are you going to get to come here with
a team that has no? Identity and no first round
picks in the next two.

Speaker 4 (01:27:38):
Years, well that's and you raise an interesting, point And
BEN i appreciate, it And david stick. Around i'll get
to you as. Well BUT i want to address that
topic of what was just said in terms of the
uncertainty of that future and could that in fact actually
could the big question mark about the future lead to

(01:27:59):
perhaps strangely, enough the biggest answer about their. Future And
i'll tell you What i'm talking, about because there's something
THAT i think there's like a reverse psychology that could
be taking. Place i'll explain. That we'll get To, david
and Then Bill brook's going to join us two o'clock
hour as well as we get you set up for.
Tonight it is The colts The San francisco forty Nine,

(01:28:22):
Ers Monday Night football eight point fifteen kick pregame at
five point thirty and the game On HANK, fm our sister,
station beginning coverage for that at seven. Pm, David i'll
get to. You i'll explain What i'm talking about in
terms of the uncertainty of the future might make it more.

Speaker 1 (01:28:38):
Certain next you're listening To query And company on ninety
three five and one oh seven five the.

Speaker 4 (01:28:43):
Fan that's how it sounded one of the most Famous
Monday night games in, history The Monday Night. Miraca will
we see a moment tonight that we'll be talking about
for another twenty years one of the guys that was
part of and he probably gets tired of me every
TIME i talk to him mentioning a Great Monday night.
Game fifty five to twenty three was the final in

(01:29:04):
nineteen eighty, seven the first time eighty eight, actually the
first time The colts hosted A monday night game against
The Denver. Broncos Bill brooks will join us just a
couple of minutes from, Now BUT i wanted to before
we get into all of that and where The colts
go from, here touch on and expand on What ben
was just mentioning the uncertainty of the future for The.

(01:29:26):
Colts and, YES i know there are three games left
to play this, year and YES i know that The
colts still have realistically a chance to get into the.
POSTSEASON i, mean if they finish three to, oh now
they go against after, tonight they've got one of the
hottest teams in THE nfl In jacksonville that no one's

(01:29:48):
talking About Trevor lawrence is playing at a very high.
Level and then they got to go obviously With houston
right In, houston which is going to be, difficult but
it is still there for. Them they still control their own,
destiny is What i'm getting. At you know they AND
i know that they would need some, help but they
would be helping themselves because they'd be beating teams like
A houston for, example that would be before. Them so

(01:30:11):
they have a lot of within their. Control but the
uncertainties of the future for The, colts the uncertainty at
the quarterback position With Daniel, jones who played very well
and then The achilles injury, happened and you don't know
what that means in terms of how effective he can

(01:30:32):
be at the outset of next. Year the uncertainty Of
Anthony richardson in his availability and whether or not they
even want to go back to. That AND i don't
mean that to say that in a bad way about.
Him i'm saying it feels like they have turned that
page On, richardson and the uncertainty of how do you
get out of this middling area when you have already

(01:30:56):
surrendered your first round pick for the next two years
they gambled and mortgaged a ton by going out and
get Getting Sauce, gardner who is, hurt and he may
still be a wonderful player for them long. Term but
you are in a difficult, position that uncertainty of not

(01:31:16):
knowing and not being aware of what you possess moving
forward in how to get out of. It while that's
On Chris, ballard and that may well in a lot
of cases lead to a, change it does limit to
a great extent the number of candidates that may be

(01:31:37):
interested in coming in to become the general manager of The.
Colts and as a result of, that it is entirely,
possible ironically enough That Carli. Ersa gordon may, say you know,
what not knowing WHO i would even be able to
get to run this, franchise and also myself being new

(01:31:57):
in terms of being the buckstops here Person i'm going
to go with familiarity for another year and bring Back Chris.
BALLARD i personally Think Chris ballard will be back next.
Year and given the fact that he could point to
it and, say, look we Beat, denver we beat The,
chargers we beat two of the best teams in THE,
afc and we were a disastrous play away from beating The,

(01:32:22):
rams who might be the best team in. Football we
need to remind ourselves that through eight games we were
talking about how The colts may well have been the
best and most balanced roster in The National Football. League but,
then and part of what makes it so challenging and
difficult to decipher is the fact that outside of those

(01:32:44):
games of WHICH i just, mentioned the teams that they
beat their twenty and fifty five, total you could make
if this was high school debate, class AND i got
two of you sitting right here in front of, me
and one of, YOU i, say your assignment is to
tell me and compel me as to Why Chris ballard
should be, back and one of, YOU i, say your

(01:33:04):
assignment is to tell me and compel me on Why
Chris ballard should be. Replaced both of you will have
plenty of talking points to make very valid points both.
SIDES i truly believe, though that the injuries To Daniel

(01:33:25):
jones notably come into. Play To Forrest, buckner injury comes into,
Play Moody ward comes into, play and you have to
look all told at it in a twofold where they
are and then in addition to, that where would they?
Go where would they? Turn and ironically, enough one of

(01:33:47):
the biggest decisions That Chris ballard made of sending the
next two first round picks, away might actually if that
is the reason that ownership decides that they need, to
that might be what makes it the most difficult to
find his. REPLACEMENT i think next year it's everybody's back

(01:34:08):
and you find out health, wise and it may be
and that may be earned because they were seven and
one one. Healthy joining me now in The Java, House
peel and poor guest. Line you hear them on the
postgame shows right here on these radio, airwaves along With
Greg regstraw talking about The, colts and that means For Bill,
Brooks regstraw and the rest of, them plenty Of Java

(01:34:30):
house hopefully over the course of, today because they're going
to need their. Caffeine they will be taking your calls
and breaking it down late after tonight's game between The
San francisco forty nine ers and The Indianapolis. Colts one
of the true nice guys in, Football Bill, brooks joining, Me,
bill how are You Merry? Christmas Merry?

Speaker 6 (01:34:47):
Christmas how are you? DOING i am doing.

Speaker 8 (01:34:49):
Well i'm.

Speaker 4 (01:34:50):
Good and you, Know I'M i keep going, Back bill
between with this game. Tonight there's a magic about Money night.
Football and you hear me mention it every TIME i
talk to you about the magic That broncos. Game and
you KNOW i always go back to. That it reawakens
the kid in me when you have money that. Football
but this particular matchup tonight comes with great intrigue BECAUSE

(01:35:11):
i can't figure out whether or NOT i feel Like
i'm just going through the motions to finish off the,
season or whether or Not i'm invigorated over The colts
having still control of their own. Destiny do they, Realistically,
Bill are they realistically still a potential playoff run? Team?

Speaker 7 (01:35:30):
Yes they.

Speaker 6 (01:35:31):
ARE i mean they still have a. CHANCE i mean
you saw how they start off the, season of course
seven and. One definitely things have turned not in their favor,
lately losing on the last five or six. Games so,
yes things have hit a rough pass right now for The.
Colts but they still have an, opportunity and that's what you.
Want you want opportunity as a. Player you just want

(01:35:51):
an opportunity to have a chance to make a. Playoff
and they still have a chance to make a. Playoff
so they need to go out today and play where they're,
playing gainst a, good good football team and to score
forty nine ers because they're playing to position themselves and
play in the, playoff playoff run. Themselves they are in the,
playoffs so as they position, themselves they're going to be

(01:36:13):
playing hard and playing playing in order to get a better.
Position so we'll see what. Happens but The, COATS i,
think you, know we're getting some guys, back like The Forrest.
BUCKNER i know that should help the team out quite a.
Bit and we'll see what happens Come monday. Night but
it should be. Exciting as you talked about, earlier this
is the only game of being played in The National

(01:36:33):
Football league, Tonight so to me as exciting as a,
player it was always exciting to play On monday night
because you know everyone was watching your your high school,
friends your college, friends and your families watching everyone. Plays
so it should be, exciting And i'm sure the city
be excited for, it and, uh it'll be nice to
see everyone downtown and uh being excited for a. Game.

Speaker 4 (01:36:55):
BILL i mentioned this, Earlier Bill, brooks my guest job
a house, peeling poor gas LINE i know know that
The colts did not win In, seattle but the reality,
IS i think people expected that game to go a
lot differently than it, did even though it was not a,
win and we take aside the. Result it's a results.
LEAGUE i get. It Did Shane steiken coach his best
game of the year In? Seattle you, know it's.

Speaker 6 (01:37:19):
Hard to, say you know what game was the best game,
set BUT i thought he did a great job of
what He what they did out there In. Seattle, uh
not Only Shane, steichen but the defense as. Well Louena
remo what they did and how they kind of slowed
down that The seahawks offense and held them to nothing
but field. Goals and when you do, that you, figure,

(01:37:39):
hey you know, what you had a shot to win
the football. Game and then Having Philip rivers back, there
someone that has the command of the, offense understanding the,
offense and you, know he didn't have any. Turnover the
TURNOVER i had a turnablevo was late in the, game
so uh that really didn't count because he's trying to
hit the team, back but pushing the ball down. FIELD
i thought he did a nice job of having command

(01:38:00):
of the offense now from a standpoint of, production, yes
definitely more production from the. Offense so hopefully hopefully put
some more points on the board and The coast can
get over that hump of scoring twenty points you know,
what they're Gonna that gives them a better chance of
course winning football games because of all the games they've
lost and scored twenty points or. Less so both of

(01:38:22):
the offense could must of some more points and see what.
Happened BUT i, thought, Uh Shane, stikeen the game plan
they had in regards to you know, what eat at some,
clock move the ball, downfield hopefully score and get some
points was a good idea and it was a good
game plan to go in and get A seattle team

(01:38:42):
that was pretty.

Speaker 4 (01:38:43):
Good, Bill do you believe That Philip rivers from what you?
Saw and you, know, look you've you've taken passes from
a lot of different, quarterbacks AND i know That Philip,
rivers you, KNOW i, mean the, age the the time,
OFF i, mean all of that comes into. Right did
you feel like or did you see indication that with

(01:39:05):
more practice time this week there might be a deeper
area of the playbook you can go With Philip rivers
or is the physical limitations such that we saw what
you have to work.

Speaker 6 (01:39:16):
With, WELL i think when you look At Philip, rivers
you have to kind of Take Phil rivers as what
he was. Before in regards To philip never was one
of those guys that had an overly strong arm to
get the ball Down. Stiel he could throw the, ball
he could get the Ball. Downstiel he could put it
in tight windows and tight, spots and it can get

(01:39:36):
you in the right place when. Needed SO i think
he can get the ball. Downfield BUT i think what's
going to also happen is he's going to have to
get those short passes work over in the, middle and
it's going to be up to the receivers to actually
make some yards after the. CATCH i, mean that's one
way you can get some exposive. Plays you have to
make sure that you complete the passes and get the ball.

(01:39:58):
Downfield SO i think he can get the ball down
feel some but it's not going to, be you, know
throwing the ball seventy yards down the. Field that's Not
Philip rivers AND i don't think that was ever his.
Game but they're going to have to find ways to
get more exposive. Plays how they do, That i'm not
exactly sure how they do, that BUT i would like
to see the receivers make some yards after the, catch

(01:40:21):
and that's one way and get some exposive.

Speaker 4 (01:40:23):
Plays, BILL i want to hypothetically. Here, Okay santa arrives
at The brooks house early, today so he comes down
the chimney this, afternoon and you're. Startled it goes without, saying,
right guy coming down the, Chimney But santa says to, You,
bill you've been a good, boy and So i'm going
to deliver for, You Bill, BROOKS i have the ability

(01:40:44):
to deliver one, thing AND i wanted to Be santa's
A colts. Fan so he, Says, BILL i have the
ability right now to pick one area of this team
that is most confusing To Bill brooks or most concerning
To Bill, brooks AND I, Santa i'm going to immediately bolster.
That and you can't say health from a schematic or

(01:41:08):
just an area of weakness of this team this. Year
what is the one thing That Bill brooks would Want
santa to take care of that would be a difference
maker for The colts in these last three.

Speaker 6 (01:41:18):
Games, wow that's a good. QUESTION i. CAN i can't
say Health.

Speaker 4 (01:41:25):
TOM i, mean, obviously if we could just get A
Daniel jones, back because he was playing it a people.
FORGET i know that he was starting to revert a little,
bit but he played at a very high level at
the beginning of the. Year obviously exactly he.

Speaker 6 (01:41:38):
DID i would, say more pressure in a quarterback and crucial.
SITUATIONS i would like to see a little bit more
pressure from the front. Four not even have the fund,
four but anybody's linebacker or whoever it may, be if
they want some corners can even more off the slide
or whatever this. Legacy a little bit more pressure on a,
quarterback especially especially when it gets down late in the

(01:42:02):
game and they need a sack or need to force
the quarterback to make an aar thrill something of that.
Nature that that would be my. Choice IF i had
an opportunity to Ask sannah for a birthday, offers a
Birthday christmas?

Speaker 4 (01:42:18):
Gift, okay can you get because the The colts have
tried bill a million different let me let me put
it to this. Way you are a, Receiver, Okay as a,
receiver you know The colts have tried to get pass
rush forever And DeForest mugner is an elite level, player
but and And Leatu latou has his? Moments could he?

(01:42:40):
PAY i think is just a. GUY i don't dislike,
him but he's just a. Guy right when you have
now the process of Getting Mooney ward and Getting Sauce
gardner and imagining those two as healthy corners, There, how
when you are a, receiver you, know how long do
you go into a play and a set where you're

(01:43:02):
continuing to try to work yourself open before then a
coverage shack becomes availability and becomes available because everything. Collapses
in other, words if the colts can't get pass, rush
can the corners take care of that for? Them where
then eventually it collapses for the defense, Anyway, yes.

Speaker 6 (01:43:19):
Definitely you definitely can get. THAT i mean it can
happen if the corners are playing tight coverage and makes
it very difficult from the quarterback to feel comfortable and
throwing the ball to the, receiver and if they continue
to you, know hold the, ball hold the, ball hold the,
ball then, yes the pass rush can get. There but
a lot of times what happens is if the if
the receiver is open or don't have much pressure and

(01:43:42):
the quarterback can hold the ball and feel comfortable back
there and then throw the ball to the. Receiver the
receiver is wide, open so it kind of works hand in.
Hand you, know you got you got guys in the
back and there.

Speaker 9 (01:43:52):
They play tight.

Speaker 6 (01:43:52):
Coverage then it gives the guys in front opportunity to
get to the. Quarterback but then also sometimes that there's
guy front get there quick, enough it rushes the quarterback
and the quarterback has to throw the ball before the
receiver was actually into his route or at the top
of the vout or breaking out of his, route and
it goes incomplete or might be an.

Speaker 4 (01:44:13):
Interception who's the toughest corner you? Faced, oh.

Speaker 6 (01:44:19):
There was A there was a number of guys that were.
Tough Mike, haynes who at the time was playing for The. Raiders,
uh one guy that WAS i would, say my toughest
want to go against you. Had let me see you
Had minifield And. Dixon, Uh private Dog pounds Or Cleveland.

(01:44:41):
Browns those are some of the toughest guys THAT I i,
SAID i faced.

Speaker 4 (01:44:48):
As a, Receiver Bill Bill brooks my guest job house,
peeling poor guest. Line as a as a, receiver was
a corner tougher for you of one that's playing man
on the line right away and is with you lock and.
Stock or was it tougher to go against a guy
that you thought you had space from but had such

(01:45:09):
collapse time that they then got in and disrupted at
the very end of the play as the ball was being.
Delivered and that might be the dumbest Question i've ever,
Asked but does that make sense What i'm? Asking, yeah
it makes.

Speaker 6 (01:45:20):
Sense for. ME i didn't like. PEOPLE i didn't like
people up in my face or close to, me so to,
speak at the line of, scrimmage BECAUSE i like to
get in my route as soon as. Possible but then
they're impeding me for me to get into my route
by you, know playing bumping your on and getting the
hands on. Me and guys that had long arms such

(01:45:41):
As Mike knes and another guy THAT i didn't mention
earlier Was Albert, lewis another defensive back that had long
arms that could run and does a good job at
the line of scrimmage of impeding your progress up the.
Field so those guys made it more difficult for me
to get into my, route which made it harder for
me to complete my out and create some separation and

(01:46:02):
create some. Space so for, me it was the guys
that were up in my face that gave me more.

Speaker 4 (01:46:07):
Problems we have very limited body of work to see
as a. Cult but from what you've been able to,
see when he is healthy and when we see him long,
term Here Sauce gardner is what kind of. Corner, oh.

Speaker 6 (01:46:23):
He's one of the top coins in The national football
which he's, long he can run good seat change in the.
Direction he's one of the top corners in The national
Football like if you, can you, know stay, healthy very very?

Speaker 4 (01:46:41):
Good is?

Speaker 1 (01:46:43):
He?

Speaker 4 (01:46:43):
Bill just say?

Speaker 6 (01:46:45):
THIS i WOULD i would have. Trouble not that, me
but you're talking about the corners THAT i have that
gives me. Trouble he would give me a lot of.

Speaker 4 (01:46:52):
Trouble. Okay so he's not That.

Speaker 6 (01:46:54):
I'm not That i'm an all pro or was a pro,
whatever but he's one of those guys that can give
WHY i receive the.

Speaker 4 (01:47:03):
Spitch so he is a flank you from even pre
snap and never let you out of site guy right
as opposed to A you think there's a window there
and yet he closes that window. Instantly he's more the
first guy right physical from the get. Go he can do.

Speaker 6 (01:47:20):
Both he can do. Both he can play off and
break on the ball very. Well and he can also
get in your face and you, know run with you
and not really hit, you but stay with. You or
he can get in your face and he can impede your.
Progress so he can Do he can do. Both and
he has a body type and the speed to do.

(01:47:40):
That you, know a lot of corners don't have the
certain body types to do those. Things but he's long,
enough he's fast, enough he has a good. Seat he
can do all those.

Speaker 4 (01:47:50):
Things do You, bill when you go, Out Bill brooks my,
guest he will. Be of course you'll be hearing him
in the postgame show Tonight Monday Night. Football when you
hear the, theme when you see the, intro when you
hear the, crowd do you still go back to and
remember what it was like as a player to be
part of the cities in my, opinion this city's first

(01:48:13):
true arrival and colorination and celebration OF nfl In indianapolis
And Monday Night. Football do you still feel that same
buzz or butterfly? Tonight, YES i.

Speaker 6 (01:48:28):
DO i, do as far as Me i'm not, playing
BUT i still have that buzz knowing that it's something
that's exciting for the. City and this is where this
is where you, know the city is. Showcased you, know
you see different parts of the city throughout the, game
and they come back from a commercial break and they'll
show part of the city AND i think it's great
for the. City and you, KNOW i still still get

(01:48:50):
a buzz out of it because you, know When monday
night football was on and your only game in, town
not just In towent and game in the country, way
it was it was great knowing that your family and
your friends are, watching so it's it was it was
a special. Time so, YES i do get that buzz
now like, today it's excited to get downtown and see

(01:49:11):
everyone downtown and uh you know what the game, was
how the game's gone unfold and things that, Happened so
as exciting time and for it to be of. Course
uh so Bring Indiana. Night The colts with their with those,
uniforms so it should be exciting.

Speaker 4 (01:49:26):
Tonight you know WHAT i, Said, Bill they got to
do The Indiana nights while they're still the last team
In indiana before The bears come in, right it's not gonna.
HAPPEN i know it's not gonna it's all about power.
PLAY i get, it but, no, LISTEN i look forward
to it. Tonight it's gonna be a lot of fun
and then we'll be listening. Afterwards certainly appreciate the time
today and get yourself A java house getting ready for

(01:49:47):
a long night because it's gonna be.

Speaker 6 (01:49:48):
Fun thank, You, well it's gonna be a fun. Night
that's Why i'm looking forward to a fun. Night uh
if it's, long that's. Fine long for fun and the
win for the, colts it'll. Be it'll be a good.

Speaker 4 (01:49:58):
NIGHT i appreciate, It, Bill thank. YOU i appreciate, you,
Guys Bill brooks joining me on The Java. House peel
and poor guest line and a Merry christmas temp to.
One i'm telling you one of the, truly truly nice
guys in this. Community and this is A indianapolis is
such an interesting place to me because The i've lived other.

(01:50:19):
MARKETS i, MEAN i worked In Saint, Louis Stan musual
lived In Saint louis and was you, know just a legend.
There it goes without, saying but you know a lot
of guys in other. Places WHEN i talk to people
from different, markets they don't have. NECESSARILY i, mean if
you played for the cults of The pacers either. One

(01:50:43):
there are and there are guys that you've seen that
have had journeyman, careers and Yet indianapolis is the place
that even long after their their playing, career they come
back to and live and raise a family and become
a part of the community and get involved in different business,
ventures which is, cool AND i think part of that
the cost of, Living i'm sure has something to do with.

Speaker 7 (01:51:04):
That the.

Speaker 4 (01:51:06):
Celebratory nature of the celebrity that comes with it for
the rest of your life is probably more so here
than if you're In New york Or. CHICAGO i get.
That but with those, athletes and we've got a lot
of really good ones as people in this. Community But
Bill brooks is as nice as any of. THEM i,
mean just the nicest, dude laid, back, humble and a

(01:51:28):
really good, player and probably an underrated player during the
time that he was playing. Here BUT i agree with
him on pass. RUSH i, mean that's clearly a big.
One clearly a big one in terms of trying to
get to the, quarterback and something that we've been chasing,
forever seemingly with this team and trying to figure out

(01:51:50):
just exactly that pass rush has. Been undoubtedly that is
the white. Whale that is the white whale For Chris.
Ballard he has never been able to nail that. Down
and that's not for lack of. TRYING i, mean there's
no question about. That that is not for lack of,
trying because they've gone over it and over it and over,

(01:52:13):
it and yet it still eludes. Them there is another
sport being. Played it was played over the, weekend and
there's a game coming, up actually one of them underway right,
now another one underway tonight six, o'clock and then at
the pro, level back to back for The. Pacers we'll
get into it.

Speaker 1 (01:52:32):
Next this Is querry In company on ninety three five
and one oh seven five.

Speaker 4 (01:52:37):
The Fan indiana And action tonight taking On. Sienna you
can hear that game on our sister, STATION wbc at six. O'clock,
Man i'll tell, YOU I i realize it was kind
of an off radar, game if you, Will BUT i

(01:53:00):
saw a little of that game That indiana. PLAYED i
think it Was Chicago, state And i'm not trying to
beat a Dead horse here BECAUSE i mentioned it, before
BUT i was stunned at the crowd At Assembly, hall

(01:53:22):
and you can SURE i get, it you, KNOW i,
asked students aren't there and holidays a ton going? ON
i get, It BUT i also think That indiana basketball
AND i don't know That indiana fans kind of know
how to process it, all you, Know indiana. BASKETBALL i
think fans there Are indiana fans that are, like, yeah
it's kind of weird because all my, attention all my

(01:53:46):
focus is on an understandably so getting ready for The
Rose bowl and. PLANNING i, MEAN i Know i'm in
That indiana like, culture, right.

Speaker 7 (01:53:58):
And it is a.

Speaker 4 (01:54:02):
Huge buzz amongst everyone that are fans Of indiana from
the football side of, things knowing now that It's alabama
and a Former indiana, staff essentially a lot of guys
with calend boor At alabama With indiana, ties and Then
Kurt signetti of, course who had coached At alabama now

(01:54:23):
Leading indiana in The Rose bowl And alabama they're the
Biggest jekyl And hyde wild card in the college football
playoffs because When alabama's playing, well they're playing really, well
and they're really, good and you saw. THAT i mean
that game In, oklahoma, loud raucous. Environment Brent, venables who's

(01:54:47):
an energy, guy And oklahoma gets out to the big,
lead and everybody and their brother public service. Announcement right,
Now i'm telling, you public service. Announcement don't tweet in
the middle of the game as if the game's over
post whatever you'll call. It oklahoma's up a couple, scores

(01:55:09):
and literally everybody is jumping up and down about how
insane it is. That you, know, See alabama's a. Joke
they have no business being. Here And alabama when they're,
bad they're pretty. BAD i mean not pretty, bad BUT
i mean they're they're they're very. Pedestrian alabama when they're

(01:55:32):
clicking or they're really, good and you, know their talent
level and their depth is going to be. Solid my
concern For indiana on the football side of, things As
i've mentioned, before if you get Past, alabama then you
got to turn around and play once. Again Texas tech Or.

(01:55:53):
Oregon if you get past, that then you got to
turn on and play. Again and you're talking about teams
that have And indiana is as well coached and as
well prepared as anybody in the country probably more. So
and at this point it's a little absurd to talk
about where these guys were ranked when they were in high.

(01:56:14):
School mendoza pointed that. Out that means a hill of
beans at this. Point but, nonetheless And indiana has done
an unbelievable job with next man up and overcoming an
injuries and their. Depth but there is one thing to
be said about playing in The Big ten and going
through the riggers of The Big ten but still knowing, that,

(01:56:36):
yes you've got to push all in On oregon and
then you come back With, iowa who's very. Good But
iowa has the same level of depth As. Indiana there
is a dip that can take place when you get
through it and in the, grind and now they Are
indiana is getting ready to go through a grind unlike

(01:56:57):
any they have. Seen they are as well, coached well,
prepared and as well adjusted for that as anybody in college.
FOOTBALL i understand. That but having said, that The oregons
The Ohio, states when you start talking about the second
or third tier of their players in the, trenches notably

(01:57:19):
whether it's keeping people fresh or whether there is, injury
you just don't have as significant a potential drop and
wearing you, out and that's going to be a challenge For,
indiana but it's. Awesome and DO i think they'll Beat?
ALABAMA i. Do and at this point you would be a,
fool a fool to rule Out indiana in any college

(01:57:41):
football game because right now they have the best coach
in the country and they are that well prepared basketball
side of. Things LIKE i Mentioned sienna, tonight and AGAIN
i Have indiana fans probably are, like, oh, yeah that's,
right they got a, Game BUT i got A christmas
shop and get ready for The Rose Bull purdue week
off and Then prdue Gets Kent. State purdue's coming off

(01:58:03):
a fabulous, performance and Is auburn you, Know Bruce, Pearl
Bruce pearl had, said like you know last year when
talking about, well you, know he was talking about when
he had coached Against perdue and we just went out
and smacked, him smacked him in the mouth something like.
That AND i Know Bruce pearl's not there, anymore but

(01:58:23):
That auburn team still has a lot of. Athleticism they
can play at a high, level they can play at,
pace And purdue. Did that might have Been purdue's best
performance of the, year AND i thought they Cliniced Texas.
TECH i Think purdue has. Offset, yes they had the
bump in the road With Iowa, state and that was
bizarre to have that happen At. Mackie but they have

(01:58:48):
seemingly more than made up for that because they have quality.
Wins the win Against, alabama the win Against Texas, tech
the win Against. Auburn assuming they hold serve here through
The Big ten and don't have a massive, collapse they've
afforded themselves a couple of, costs a couple of losses

(01:59:08):
even Into Big, ten and still hold on to that
number one. Seed they have been so good And Oscar
cluff has been so perfect for what they. Need Trey
kaufman ran in his ability to play off of that
and be freed up on the. Block so many areas For.

(01:59:29):
Purdue and it goes without. Saying and, yes the Last
colts home game up in the press, box somebody came
up and, SAID i know you didn't say. That please
tell ME i didn't hear you say. That i'm giving
you the chance to walk it. Back AND i, said say,
What i'm on the air fifteen hours a. Week SOMETIMES

(01:59:50):
i forget WHAT i say they. SAID i could have.
SWORN i heard you Say Braden smith's the best player
in college. Basketball, YES i did say, that AND i will.
Stay is he the most athletically Gifted? No is he
the one with the BIGGEST nba? Potential, No but right
Now purdue. Is AND i know That arizona Or Michigan

(02:00:12):
michigan's really aren't. GOOD i know those teams are. Great
but the balance of What purdue brings to the. Table
and why Did mendoza win The. Heisman he won The
heisman because he's the quarterback of the best team in college,
football and over the course of the, year in, totality
the best team Is purdue and the quarterback of that

(02:00:37):
team Is Braden. Smith and he's going to be AN nba,
player and he is the presumptive preseason player of the.
YEAR i don't think it's like way out of left
field to say that he's the best player in college.
Basketball most, dynamic, no most, potential, no most. Effective, Yes

(02:01:00):
pacers tonight taking On, boston that is In beantown's seven
point thirty, start and then The Milwaukee bucks tomorrow. Night
it's the return Of Miles. Turner and by the, way
speaking Of milwaukee and The. Pacers they are going to
be playing In, february The blue And gold heading up
to one of my favorite cities In. Milwaukee The blue

(02:01:22):
And gold going to take On Miles turner In Miles
turner's new. Home and you have a chance to be.
There you have a chance to be, there and your
next chance to register for that takes place tomorrow night
from five until. Seven i'll be at the Ale emporium
In castleton tomorrow from five until, seven which is gonna be.
Awesome Ale. Emporium every TIME i, go it gets bigger

(02:01:45):
and bigger and. Bigger And i'd go there like once
a week for. Dinner love, It Herman Hockey, wings all of,
it and we love Ale, emporium But Mick ultra And Zig.
Distributing i'll be there from five until seven for our
mini hoops tomorrow. Night it is so. Simple. Come it's
going to be an awesome. Atmosphere it's basically the kickoff
to the holiday weekend or the holiday mid week, weekend

(02:02:06):
whatever you want to call. It Christmas eve On, Wednesday
christmas On, Thursday Christmas Eve eve On tuesday, night and
to get ready for The pacers game against The. Bucks
I'llbeit alemporium until five from five until, seven Simple Mick
ultra brings out their many hoops and you've got the,

(02:02:28):
chance not, once but two games to get the high.
Score you get the high, score you win A mickultra,
jersey and you are registered then to come back for
the finals and win the trip with a hotel voucher
tickets to the game to See milwaukee and The blue

(02:02:49):
And gold up In milwaukee In. February and That i'm
telling you that arena is. Awesome the whole little area
around it is. Awesome it's all walkable distance There, milwaukee
And Mick ultra wants to set you up and send
you on your. Way and the next chance for you
to get registered for that tomorrow night five until, Seven
Al emporium In. Castleton speaking out about jmv's exactly, that

(02:03:13):
especially on a daylight today with it being A colts game,
day he's got all kinds of on air. Responsibilities we'll
check in with them in just a little, bit but
keep in Mind colts and forty nine ers tonight eight
point fifteen pregame getting underway at five, thirty the game
itself only ON hankfm at. Seven that's because The pacers
will be here on this radio. Station but it is

(02:03:36):
a big one for The colts and it is a
big one for THE nfl because It's Monday. Night and,
yeah there was a thought a couple of weeks, ago
and now they don't flex out, obviously but there was
part of me that's, like, MAN i wonder if they
would flex that. Game but, no there's still plenty to
play for The colts because eighty six percent chance of
making the playoffs if they were to win their last three,

(02:03:56):
games but they got to win the last three starts
tonight With Sanfrance le Us. Go we'll take a further
look back into that and catch up With john and
find out where he is as well and what you
can do to get involved as the celebration starts getting
underway for Tonight Monday Night football and then heading into the. Holidays.
Here we will check in With john next as part
of The crossover brought to you By Love heating And

(02:04:17):
air ninety three five one a seventy five to.

Speaker 1 (02:04:19):
The Fan query in company on nuinety three five and
one oh seven five the Fan.

Speaker 4 (02:04:25):
Ricky piersoll out for The niners. Tonight that's one of the.
Notables DeForest buckner looks like he's going to be. Back
Bernard ryman, out But shane S tikens saying Yesterday buckner
is expected to. Play ryman is And chap pointed this out.
Earlier it's a good point about about excuse, Me Bernard

(02:04:48):
ryman San. Francisco if there's a game where you, feel
okay is the wrong word when you're talking talking about
a starting left, Tackle but if there's a team that
has been struggling with their pass rush as, well it
would Be San. Francisco, so you, know maybe that, HELPS i.

(02:05:10):
Guess but the big question mark for tonight from The colt,
Standpoint i'm with you, know you're down two corners once,
again that's not anything. New but what do we expect
out Of Philip. Rivers that's the big question mark for
me BECAUSE i think we. KNOW i think how much

(02:05:31):
of what we saw In seattle with a rather vanilla game,
plan how much of that was because of the limitation
Of Philip rivers, physically and how much of that was
because of the limitation Of Philip rivers with familiarity and
a guy that has played as much, football As rivers
has a guy that runs the same offense with his

(02:05:53):
high school and talks To Shane steichen. Regularly that, player
one would assume you have the ability to tap into
it and you can do different things with. Him but
did they limit things because of his physical? Limitation now
with what was not already an arm that was going
to be throwing for a billion yards to begin, with

(02:06:14):
does that make? It you, know how much is that
a hurdle for them to? Overcome one of the things
that will keep an eye. On, uh speaking of, eyes
what about Bulls? Eyes we could keep an eye on.
That that's exactly where we find Jamb The crossover brought
to you by the good guys that Love hitting And
air LOVEDESH hvac dot com is the website three one
seven three five three twenty one forty. ONE i just

(02:06:35):
Saw Chris love over the. Weekend as a matter of,
fact over one hundred years In Central indiana and the
very best Official Hile heating And Cooling dealer AND jmb
is out at The Bulls Eye event group tailgate AND
i know getting set for what's going to be an electric.
Night but no better place to Be john to get
ready for it than there indoor.

Speaker 3 (02:06:54):
And, outdoor and now the. Outdoor jake is Indoor Kyle
kanet and you know him just as well AS i.
Do going way, Back there's nobody that throws a party
Like Kyle. Kinnett so he has prepared for everything This monday.
Night it is going to be awesome in. Here But,
Jake i've got great news for. You Because colts, Fans indie,
fans are looking for good fortune and a little bit of, luck,

(02:07:16):
right that's. RIGHT i THINK i have found it for.
Them So i'm An expresstro Express Pro. Tyronado a little
bit earlier today and my Friend mike AND i were hanging.
Out SO i was on In, Edmonton, Alberta, canada AND
i was walking around the back Of Express pro because
the road noise outside was too, loud AND i found

(02:07:38):
A Rolando rooms baseball card from nineteen.

Speaker 4 (02:07:43):
Ninety let's.

Speaker 3 (02:07:45):
Go that WAS i think his final season In Major league,
baseball three years in ALL i want to say for
The Cubs, reds and it's A reds card and The
expos where he hit all of nine home runs and
drove in forty two in his. Career And i'm thinking

(02:08:05):
if you're looking for good. Fortune me finding A Rolando rooms,
card it's pretty damn good, fortune you, know.

Speaker 4 (02:08:11):
Which is to celebrate. That to celebrate, that you should
take Your Remander rooms card To patty's Of, jamaica Which
Kyle knett loves as well at fifty Second. Aliceville BECAUSE
i Believe rooms is A jamaican, player, right he is.

Speaker 3 (02:08:22):
A Jamaica there we, are you. KNOW i decided to
go with him too BECAUSE i also get. This he's
a Former Pittsburgh pirates, outfielder AND i found him a
former center. Fielder AND i found a card back there
too of, this AND i believe he may have played
for The indians back in the.

Speaker 4 (02:08:41):
Day i'd have to check on. This who AM i talking,
About Jake? Boy that could be. Anybody but if you
thought it was, anybody if you thought it was An indians,
player now let me ask you. This if it is
An indians, player you said former. Pirate did he play
for The indians when they were affiliated with The pirates
or he went up through The reds and then ended
up A.

Speaker 3 (02:08:58):
PIRATE i that's Where i'm not, sure BUT i know
he spent some time as a versatile player certainly In,
pittsburgh also played In. Baltimore how about the greatness Of
joe Or Salac yeah fo, Yeah so, Listen i'm going
to go ahead and pick The colts because there's no.

about The racers becoming The. Oilers they.

Speaker 3 (02:09:37):
Will they wanted to talk About Monday night AND i
want to talk about my consumption of beer and SAID
i need to find Some canadian beer sometime and they
THOUGHT i was the person for, that AND i, said sure.

Speaker 4 (02:09:49):
Thing And i've never been, there you, have BUT i
do want to. GO i think it'd be cool to
go up. There and it.

Speaker 3 (02:09:54):
Was they called me at ten, Am jake and it
was a zero yeh, yeah fahrenheit now they deal And
celsius AND i had no. Idea they say it was
like minus seventeen celsius AND i have no idea what that.

Speaker 4 (02:10:05):
Is, Yeah i've been To edmonton a couple of times
And edmonton reminded me of nineteen eighty Five. Indianapolis i'm
not kidding.

Speaker 3 (02:10:11):
You, yeah you know that's that's where we're going one
of these days To. Edmonton so it was it was,
