Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yo, What is up? Boys? How's it going? And welcome
back to another episode of the Rant Cafe Anime Podcast.
Today we're talking about to be hero X, Bang Dream,
It's My Go, my dear friend Nokotan, and Smartphone Isakai
season two for some reason, some reason, for some reason
joining me.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Today.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
We have Jordan the anime dude. How you doing well?

Speaker 2 (00:24):
It's up, everybody, happy to be here. I'm excited for
this one. This will be a this will be a
good time.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Hell yeah, and you recommended Bang Dream It's My Go.
And we also have anime recon with us today. How's
it going, bro? What up? Guys?

Speaker 3 (00:37):
It is great to be back for another round of
suffering with the boys.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Suffering with the boys, and you recommended my dear friend Nokotan. Yes,
I was stupid enough to try and troll these guys
to make them watch Smartphone is Sakai season two, but
I hadn't watched Smartphone e Sakai season two, so I
had to torture myself, which was just so stupid and recon.

(01:04):
The masochist that he is had already watched Smartphony Sky
season two all of it, which blows my mind. Ocause
that might be the worst anime I've ever watched. It's
up there. It's like a top two. Yeah, it's pretty anyway, boys,
where do we want to start today? What are you
guys thinking?

Speaker 3 (01:25):
I'll tell you that of the recon me Yeah, alright,
let's just start with the Let's just start with mine Knuckleton,
all right.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
Cleoton was crazy. It was Jacob music here the chant Jordan,
you know what, you go first, you go first.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
You will be to go first. All right, So, my
dear friend Nocoton, I've watched eight episodes of this uh,
and I plan on actually finishing it because honestly, this
was a pretty good pick there. Ricon. I don't know
what you've been cooking, but you've been throwing some bangers
in there lately. So I had a lot of fun
with this one. I feel like I'm usually not a big,

(02:04):
very big fan of of like comedy anime. If it's
like the sole focus is comedy, and you know, it
has a very distinct style and a lot of Japanese
anime and media with the humor, because it's like a
bunch of crazies with like one straight man that's kind
of calling out the joke and for some reason, a

(02:24):
lot of times it doesn't really hit and Noleton was
very outrageous, very very absurd. In that same way, like
I didn't expect to really like it. I figured the
memes would be fun things like that. But but with
Studio just I don't know, they brought it to life.
They did really good. It was very high quality. It
was It was a fun time if you don't think

(02:45):
it too seriously and you just enjoy the jokes, like,
enjoy the memes, enjoy all the good OSTs like it.
It's the fun time all around. I enjoyed it.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
I will say A lot of the times calmedy anime
falls short for me and like there has to be
an other aspect to the show that keeps me invested
with a little bit of comedy here and there. But
when comedy is the main focus, I or like even
like even romance comedy, sometimes I just can't get into it.
I will say, even though this was the stupidest anime

(03:15):
I ever watched, it held my attention the entire time.
It got so many laughs out of me. It formed
so many clips. Most importantly, most importantly, it forms so
many clips. It's so ridiculous for you, Gonn, thank you
for this recommendation. I can't believe I'm saying this.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
I knew you guys would like the Shenanigans.

Speaker 1 (03:34):
It was fun and it made me laugh, and I
like the characters, like, there's no reason for me to
dislike this anime even though it is the stupidest thing
of all time.

Speaker 3 (03:43):
Yeah, the characters are good.

Speaker 2 (03:44):
As far as the characters go, I do think like
the Blonde Chick and then Nokuton herself of course pretty
much carry it for me. But UH forgot that my
sister Yonder a Emoto's fun. You know, it's a cliche.
She's all right, She's all right. It's fun whenever she's there.
But I'm glad they don't overdo it too much. But
I will say I was always kind of a deer hater,

(04:06):
you know. I grew up family of hunters out here,
and people hunt here all the time, but usually they
end up hitting with their car because they're just stupid.
They're like rats with hoods.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
Right.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
Have you ever heard the sound they make like they
they're they're pests? Right? A lot of times they're majestic looking.
You like to look at them from a distance, but
you know they're they're kind of annoying. This show is
just deer propaganda. Because I've bought in now, I'm like,
they're so cute and I want to go to Japan.
I want to feed the deer. I want to give
them some deer crackers, Like dude, I don't know. The
show changed my saw life. It's crazy.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
That's another thing. There's some scenes where they're like, Haha,
while the comedy is going on, let's just throw two
deer in the background, just two cgi ugly looking deer
in the background, and it's just like, why are there
deer at the door? And I it's so stupid and
it's so funny. I love it.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
I saw that meme don so much whenever the show
first came out, and honestly, i'd heard like a lot
of people kind of hate on the show, say like, yeah,
it is just the memes, like it fell on hard
things like that. But whenever you see those deer, you
see them and it's funny. But I did not expect
them to be in the show as much as they are.
There's so they're in so many different scenes and it's
funny every time. I don't I don't know why. It's

(05:12):
just they're just so out of pocket. They're just there
at random, random times, looking majestic as hell, judging them.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
And let me ask you, let me ask you guys this,
how do you feel about the opening? Because the opening
is one of the most popular openings in anime? How
do you guys think.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Ahead absolute banger? Yeah, No, that's That's the thing I
heard memed on most of all prior to uh, prior
to this show even ever coming out right, was people
would just play that uh that brain rot opening on
loop for the same part with the little dance from
episode three, and uh, that was the only thing I
knew going into the show. And I was not disappointed.
The opening is a banger. I loved it.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Hell yeah. And then another thing about this show that's
really funny is like when they do the transitioning scenes
and it's just like a picture of a deer in
like the real world, with like a p and G
of a character from it. Like this show does not
take itself seriously at all, And I think that is
why it works.

Speaker 3 (06:08):
All right.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
And I guess one last thing I want to touch
on for this show and stuff, especially in those first
few episodes. Is I love how much of a Chad
just absolute Chad nocoton is. I don't know if you
notice this breaks just the first entrance she has into
the classroom where she's walking in slowly. With that she
could chant and boss music. I'm sure you've noted a
few Jim bros. In their lives where they go to
the gym a few times they start pumping some.

Speaker 1 (06:29):
Place to get through the door.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
I can't get through the door. I gotta turn sideways.
I gotta I gotta try to fit. She has that
same energy as she like just doesn't care. She just
walks or break the sidewall. I was, I was laughing
my butt off, dude, that.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
Is so funny. You mentioned that I literally have a
clip ready to go. I have a clip ready to
go called the Greatest entrance in anime. And my first
thing is like, what a Chad.

Speaker 2 (06:52):
I figured he would like that part. And then also
just the dark soul's references, right, like how the the
opening says you deer instead of you dead. But also
just the cheek a chance just reminds me of like
dark dark souls like boss music, yep, or at least like
that's the cliche of it, so I don't know a
lot of fun there. I could gush about this for
a while.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
Yeah, but we do need to move on and talk
about some other anime. Let's go on to we So
last week we covered a bunch of seasonal anime right,
oh yeah, we forgot that. Talk about to be hero.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
X before we go to two be hero X. Do
we want to write Nocotown real quick?

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Oh? Yes, I forgot it. That would do the thing?

Speaker 3 (07:30):
Go ahead, right it?

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Don't guys write it?

Speaker 3 (07:32):
No you should, I want to. I don't know what
you guys read it?

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Okay, what are we writing this thing?

Speaker 2 (07:37):
I'm gonna give it a six, so I said, I'm
a pretty harsh critic. Five is usually my average. I
think this was a solid anime. Above average, it gets
too much hate. Solid six, that's really that's probably the
highest I have an anime that's like solely comedy, because
usually I do not vibe with shows like that hardly
at all, except for maybe like Grand Blue and a
couple other exceptions. Right, so, solid show.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
I'm gonna give it a seven out of ten, which
is weird.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Oh that's pretty high.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
I'm giving it because I have no complaints other than like,
maybe it's not the most interesting thing that makes me
want to keep on watching like crazy and like makes
me think in any way or makes me like look
forward to watch like a lot of episodes, but in
an individual episode, I have no complaint. It's just fun.
So I'm gonna give it a seven out of ten.
I can't give it lower. I don't have any There's

(08:26):
like no faults to it for me.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
It's very nice, very nice. So glad you guys actually
enjoyed it.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Tell yeah, goody, good one.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
You're really happy.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Okay, recon since we were talking for a while about
about my dear friend Nokotan, why don't you take us
away about two B hero x. We forgot to talk
about it last guys. We completely forgot to why about it?

Speaker 3 (08:54):
X uh. First of all, I had no idea if
this was even gonna be good back when like the
first trailer was released or it was actually announced, like,
but when when I saw it for the first time
in the first episode was oh my god. That first
episode was so good. It just reminded me about Arcane
from Netflix. It has so very similar animation and the style.

(09:18):
It was nice. It blends in uniquely two D animation
and three D animation during like fighting sequences. It's just
so cool. I didn't think it would work because normally
that wouldn't really be working out very well, but this
one did. It's just really good. It's just really good looking.

(09:39):
I love the characters. The main protagonist, weakling, how he
gains his powers through trust. The power system in this
anime is something else. I'm not gonna lie because you
have to gain trust to get to be a hero.
Anybody can be a hero, which is really cool.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Which was the first advertisement that he created. If anyone
can be a hero.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
X, anyone can be here.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
And in the most recent episode we see what happens.
But I'm not going to get into that right now.
I think Recon you touched upon a lot of good points.
I love the animation, how it transitions from different styles
for different moments and different scenes works very well. I
think the characters are good. Number one thing about this
anime is the power system.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
For me.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
I love how heroes are stronger based on how much
people love and rely on them and care about them
and like trust them right. Like the feelings people have
for heroes creates their strength. So obviously the more popular
you are, the better or more stronger you're going to
be for like the hero ranking. However, the more people

(10:41):
fear you and are scared of you is how it
affects your villain strength. And I think the idea of
heroes and villains strength being controlled by like public consensus
and feelings of the people is such a cool concept
and I think the series does it right.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
I don't think it's even before.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
It reminds me of One Punch Man in a way,
but it's obviously not the same. I think those are
a power system that's controlled by the world. It feels
like whatever you want to be in the one one
punch Man in world, if you do it to an
extreme and believe hard enough, you could become a crab
monster if you eat nothing but crab, you know. Like

(11:23):
it's it's a weird concept of the world shape to
heroes and villains, and I see the similarities while being
very different. Of course.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Yeah, no, this one, I want to say, I was surprised,
and I definitely was. I did not expect it to
be quite as good as it was. But I feel
like every Chinese anime that I usually hear about has
been from the same director, whether it be like Link Click,
I've heard a lot about. He has another series called
Ringing Fate. I've seen some scenes from, and he has
a very yeah. So I haven't even seen link Click yet.

(11:56):
I want to. I've seen some scenes from it. I've
seen some scenes from his other things. He has a
crazy and way that he goes about things, and I
feel like there's usually some type of deeper meaning there,
and we really see that at the start of two
be hero X, where he he has the literal powers
of the heroes and whatnot, right, but he does a
good job of blending that with the figurative and like
the uh the I guess overarching themes that he wants

(12:19):
to portray, right, like how how powerful the media is
and how public persona is and how you start pretending
to be somebody else until you almost like literally become
that thing that you're pretending to be. Just different things
like that that it goes across in that first episode
even is crazy. So it's like that plus entertaining visuals
plus banger soundtrack plus crazy shock moments. I'm sure you'll

(12:40):
get plenty of shorts from like it's oh yeah, I
don't know, it's all like the whole package.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
I uploaded one yesterday and it was really just nice
walking off the cliff giving the two that our main
guy and I'm thinking he's about to fly and be
all cool, and then he just killed himself, like like that.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Was shock you Like, I had to make it short
in that same moment because you're just like I did
note that that happened.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
And why does this anime have so much emotion? It
was just mind blowing how much emotion it has every episode.

Speaker 1 (13:06):
But I will say the most recent episode, I don't
know if it was episode three or episode four. Did
you guys see our main character Ling's transformation?

Speaker 2 (13:16):
I have not yet.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Okay, that was the best episode. That was the best
episode of all time.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
I did see it jumped up. I guess episode today
is about ten, like on the charts or whatever where
people vote, but like it jumped up to number one
after this most recent episode, so I thought it was
number one after just that first episode based on all
the other shows I watched, which is crazy because it's
the one show we dmmed each other about, like, hey, everybody,
make sure you watched this one. We want to talk
about that, and then last week we just forgot to

(13:42):
talk about it.

Speaker 1 (13:44):
I don't know, I don't even know if it was
the most recent episode, but I do think it was
like above episode three. It may have been episode four
that was my favorite, but episode four felt like a
season finale. It felt like everything built up to this
fourth episode and it was just such good writing and
world building with a twist, and it's just like.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
It was.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
It was.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
The twist at the end was crazy too. I don't
want to get into the spoilers, but genuinely one of
the best episodes of fiction I've watched in a while.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Did it also ends on a cliffhanger? Gers? I've heard
everything that this director's done, like every episode always freaking
ends on a cliffhanger, And I don't know, i'd have
to binge it. I guess the week week on this.

Speaker 1 (14:23):
Yeah, they gave us like like some crazy transformations and
some crazy moments, and I really really enjoyed it, and
I thought it was like this was like season finale
epic and then it ended with like a cliffhanger where
it's like, Okay, I.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
See how the series continues.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
Are you guys watching it in dubb because I'm watching
it in dubb and it's really good, and I'm watching Yeah,
double voice icting is so good.

Speaker 2 (14:45):
I've only watched one episode, but I watched it in
UH in Japanese dub because just because that's what I
saw it in. I didn't really think too much on it.
But I guess a lot of people prefer to watch
like uh stuff like this in Chinese, which I feel
like would get snakes and getting used to. But I'm
glad to hear the English is good as well. I
assume that's what you mean by dub. So many different
languages on this thing.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Yeah, the English English is really good.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Anyway. Honestly, after that most recent episode, I know that
we're not really rating this one. I was thinking, like, yeah,
out of ten so far, like there was there was
only one episode that I wasn't in love with me
out of the four. There was like an episode two
or three that was like it's okay, But everything else
has been fantastic, especially with the most recent one, like
I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.
Definitely watch twophero X if you haven't done ready, My

(15:28):
hero my friend Nokotan. It's a fun watch as well.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Said, I watched like fourteen episode season or episode ones
of the seasonals, and I think twop hero X was
probably my favorite as well. Like it was just up there, yeah,
head and shoulders above the rest. So, and I'm such
a weird I have to watch the Chinese anime in
Japanese dub, you know, like.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
It's just crazy people.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
So it's still weren't matching, right, Like the lips sings
still weren't matching. So I thought that was funny.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
So fucking fun. Okay, but let's just briefly talk about
my pick Smartphone Esekie season two. If you guys want
to take it all.

Speaker 3 (16:02):
Away, Jordan, I'll let you talk because I've already seen it,
so you talk. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
So I had started the first three seasons back when
this show came out, and I dropped it, and I
dropped it for a reason, and then lo and behold,
this guy recommends season two. So I went back. I
already watched the entirety of the first season. Why last
week I watched the first season. Just I can't start
season two without watching season one. Okay, it's just how
I am.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
You're not missing out on anything, Oh, I trust me.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
I know that now, but I did kind of enjoy
the beach episode from season one because it just took
it to the extreme of you know what, we're gonna
have a beach episode. Let's invite everybody. He has teleportation powers,
bring the whole crew, right like. It made me laugh
a couple of times. But man, season two. I'd heard
season two got better, but I feel like that's just
because the people that make it to season two made

(16:53):
it all the way through season one. Episode one of
season two just had I had. I had not just
one Hot Springs bath Moe, seeing that lingered, it had two.
I've never seen that done before in an anime. It's
kind of historic. Like it said episode one of season two,
We're gonna have bath scene for the first half, different
bath scene for the second half, and then it just

(17:14):
tossing plot stuff out there after that. But it's something, man,
it's something. It's a it's an anime.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
For the longest time, I said it was the worst
anime I ever finished, And I can't say that anymore
because now there's the season two and I thought that'd
be a fun way to troll you guys, but I
really just tolling myself.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
It has thirty bolumes of the light novel. There's an
audience for it. I just don't think I'm in that audience.
But it had a couple of scenes that made me
laugh throughout the throughout the entirety of the thing. But
with fifteen episodes being watched now, I'm not sure if
that's a if that's necessarily praise something. Recon not the
worst show.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
What are you thinking on season two? Recon?

Speaker 3 (17:55):
It's as bad as the first season. I'm not gonna lie.
I even tortured myself watching it, Like when it is
still airing, I'd argue it's I don't know, despite it
actually being popular among so many people, even though it
has a pretty bad score. I just I don't know.
I just torture with myself watching it. It's so bad.

(18:17):
I hate the characters, I hate the story. The animation sucks.
It's the same generic shit that we've seen before. I
don't know what to say for really, it's it's not great.
It's definitely my least favorite. My least favorite. Sekai so I.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
Did remember that he Himmathy invented like ice cream, like
you know, using Google and whatnot. His Google cheap powers,
but I didn't know. In season one he also invented guns,
so that was something like himpathy's like, you know what,
I'm just gonna invent guns, and he just did it
so casually. In one episode, someone has a gun and
he has a smart up the anime.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
At least season one had like the stupid concept of
it and like the introduction of like abilities and people
not even that, not.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
Keep going, keep going.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
I'm just gonna say the reason why season one is
slightly better than season two, even though season one is
the worst anime I've ever finished, at least it was
something like I didn't know what was happening yet, so
like maybe it had like a little bit of intrigue,
like what where is this gonna go? And of course
he goes nowhere. But season two, what drives me crazy

(19:23):
is he just solves every problem with such ease with
so like with with speed too, Like he's a speed run.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
He's sympathy. He's sympathy. He does everyone.

Speaker 3 (19:34):
He has a smartphone. It tells him, smart tells him fantasy.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
I know, but it's not even like, oh, we have
this issue, let's struggle throughout the episode to figure it
out a way that this will work to fix the issue.
He fixes every issue within three seconds. It's like, oh,
we have two monsters over here. I'm going to teleport
them into the sky and they're gonna fall to their death. Oh,
our business is doing boom, you have a hot sprea.
It's like it's like within three seconds, you're like, I

(20:02):
gotta fix Oh you're you're over here, I'll teleport you.
Oh yeah, but these people have These people have shackles
on their necks because they're slaves. Oh, I could just
take it off. It's like, there's no struggle.

Speaker 3 (20:16):
Let's be honest. He ain't He ain't gonna beat Yogiddy
though what from uh.

Speaker 2 (20:26):
That was beating him?

Speaker 1 (20:26):
That was still close to being worse. I'm gonna be honest.
My inctent deathability was still close to being worse.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
No, that's not even close to me. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
If you let me ask you guys this, if you
got as chitter to the world, would you wish would
your only and you have only one wish, would you
actually wish to have your smartphone? No? No, what would
you guys wish for?

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Immortality?

Speaker 2 (20:54):
I don't know. Yeah, yeah, like happiness? I don't know.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
That your smartphone to become a super Saiyan. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Dopamine addiction is too strong, man. The people just can't.
They're so plugged into their phones. They got to bring
it with them. Put God on speed dial real quick
and visit such.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
A dumb so dumb, it's actually so fucking dumb.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Let me praise the first season for a bit, though,
I will say, okay, so, my my thing I really
liked about the first season was the mid cards were
pretty funny, Like, they had some funny moments, and a
lot of those were in the mid cards, is like
stuff happened. Uh, so I like it when shows do that.
And then the ed changed every single episode and it
featured a different girl, so they were all made uh

(21:38):
you know, the d's were basically the same but still
very different, and I like it when shows do that.
Season Twook got rid of all that. The mid cards
are boring now it just says smartphone season two and
then like, the edies are the same every time, So
it took away the things that made season one great.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
You know, yeah, really, I can't speak right now. Why
am I stuttering? The eighties and then the cards are
is what you've been.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
The episode one that was what I liked. Yeah, that's
what I like. Things you liked and they took it away. Okay,
it's they took away the only thing I liked from
season one. And yeah, I don't know. Wow, season one
made me laugh a couple of times too. I didn't
really get that with season two.

Speaker 3 (22:18):
So what about the slime scenes from season one? Did
you like that the slime the slime section.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Prono Supa did it better?

Speaker 3 (22:27):
I don't.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
I don't know, like the people that invent the stuff
that's also kind of perverted in a way. I don't
know it all right, I don't know season one, season two,
it's all kind of just very shallow in a lot
of ways where it's like going through the motions of
the Eucai thing. But I'm like, there's other shows that
do it better. I don't. I don't think i'd ever

(22:47):
recommend this one.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
I honestly think you could go to like an elementary
school and say, hey, write a story and they would
read it better. Like I I genuinely think like my
like little short stories from like grade six had better
writing and like climaxes and struggle than this.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
It kind of had the same type of logic though
that kids have, as far as like one kid's presenting
a problem. He goes, Oh, yeah, but I counter that
because I doal infinity plus two damage with my attack,
well my smartphone and the logic.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Keep in mind the grown ass man.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Wrote this, Yeah, it was probably chat gpt Uh.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
The bridge is good. I will say that my rating.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
For this would be like a two or a three,
two or three for the series.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
It's so bad, I'm gonna give it a point five.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Damn, I'm gonna give it a point five as well.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
I do have a few shows that are like because
I rate my shows on a scale of one to
one hundred a lot, so I do have a few
shows that are like point one point two. It's not
the worst thing I've seen, but I'm gonna give it
a point five. I'm gonn.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
Actually, I'm gonnaive it a one out of ten. I'll
give it a one out of ten because somehow I
finished the first season, which means it's the point five
worse than my instant death ability? Can I give it
a one point five tot of ten? I think.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
I just know I'll never forgive you for making me
watch all of the season one.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
That was your choice. Dude, you didn't have to, like.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
You understand, don't understand. You can't just jump into a
season two. I can't do it. I don't have it
in me.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Okay, just keep on going. What was next? Bang?

Speaker 2 (24:20):
I hate more than Bang, dream my Go.

Speaker 1 (24:26):
I hate the way it looks so much. I hate
the way they look. Their faces are like, I don't
know what render all looked the same, very little emotion
other than when they blush.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
I've never liked three D animation until this show. Okay,
this was what changed my mind.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
This is what.

Speaker 3 (24:46):
Yeah, that animation, but what about to be hero X?
That is literally three D animation?

Speaker 1 (24:55):
Okay, but this is also a lot older, right.

Speaker 2 (24:57):
It's like a year or two ago. It's to three.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
This is yeah, this was about to say, this is
twenty three. Yeah, so there's no way you would prefer
that over to b hero X.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
I never said I did. I said this is what
changed my mind on three D animation. But that was
back in twenty twenty three. This is before two years two.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
Opposite that was that would be the opposite for me.
Jordan's oh my god, oh my god, said I.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
Thought for sure. This was like two thousand and eight.
It looked so bad.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
What I will say, there's some scenes I've seen from
previous Bang dreams because I've never watched any of them,
but those looked worse and it uh, I think it
did improve among those, like get better.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
Started watching the wrong Bang Dream and it was so
much better looking.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
What, No, which one did you watch?

Speaker 1 (25:46):
I think I just watched a little bit of Bang
Dream season one.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
Ah, you know it was looked better.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
Yeah, I thought it was in comparison.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Oh my god, my mind's blown here. This is crazy.
But what do you guys think of It's My Go
in particular? I guess.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
Like seven into seven minutes into season one, I realized
I was watching the wrong one, and then I went
to go watch It's My Go. So I didn't actually
get a good representation of the other Bank Dream below key.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
I've never seen the other Bank dreams, So you don't
need those.

Speaker 1 (26:15):
You don't need this, I will say, Bank Dream, It's
My Go. I was kind of bored at first. I
saw some potential and then episode three was a banger.
Episode three was so good, like it makes me want
to keep on watching, and I kind of can't believe
it am seeing you actually got Jordan, You fucking got me?

(26:40):
What's her name is? Tomory? Because episode is a POV
from Tomorroy's perspective of her, like her backstory and why
like she gained this friendship with these people and started
this band and then the trauma of like it falling
apart and seeing everything from her perspective from like lyric
writing to her feelings and seeing like other people's reactions

(27:04):
and stuff, and then obviously transitioning into this new band
that's going to start and maybe like a way for
her to heal through like this new friendship and music.
Like I'm like, why is this episode actually peak?

Speaker 2 (27:19):
It's so good? It's so good, And that's why I.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
Like, I'm like, why can't you just look good while
doing this?

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Cause it looks terrible, I will say myself and a
lot of people I know that love this show. That
was their biggest complaint going into and the reason a
lot of them almost didn't want to watch it at first.
The reason I didn't want to watch it at first
is because I'm like, I don't like the way three
D animation looks right Like a lot of times even
on this one. It takes them getting used to it,
takes them getting used to it, but once you're used
to it, I feel like it does it pretty well.

Speaker 1 (27:46):
Yeah. I do think the music, even some of the
music like kind of like not slide show, but like
what they were showing while the music was going, and
the transition from like them practic to seeing to being
on the stage and like showing like the environment and
stuff was kind of beautiful. You know what it is.

(28:07):
It's just whatever you're not showing people's faces. The show
is great because like that was gorgeous.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
And I don't know if there's any concerts in those
first three episodes. I don't think there is.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
They show the Yesterday show the concert in the backstory
of epilide three.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
Yeah, but one of the powerful things about that three
D animation and stuff is the camera work. A lot
of times during those like actual concert scenes, it's so
fun to see like kind of what they do with that, right, So.

Speaker 1 (28:29):
I like the perspectives they're showing it from, like one
person's perspective. I like the angles that they do. I
will say that like the angles they do is good.
Literally just their face that like sometimes I'm like, wow,
that was good, but like, why do use your face suck? Yeah,
but I kind of got over it by the end
of eplid three. I feel like I'm oh, yeah, luck
to it. You have to get used to it. And

(28:50):
at the end of the day, I've always been on
the side of like, even if a show is ugly,
if it's well written and fun and have good characters,
that's what matters. However, there is a part of me
that's like, some of these emotional scenes might hit harder
if their faces moved and didn't all look the same.

(29:11):
Recon what are your thoughts on Bang Dream?

Speaker 3 (29:13):
Its my go Well, you guys touched probably on most
of the points. But Jordanio, my boy, how's your day?

Speaker 2 (29:24):
It's about to get a lot worse. I can feel it.
I can tell oh God.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
Right, So you know, you guys know me. I struggle
a lot with bad looking anime and uh well, no surprise,
this is one of them. It was tough getting through
the first episode. I skimmed through the second one because

(29:47):
I just couldn't take it anymore. The third one, though,
it did pick up. Like Briggs said, I like the
you know, the POV perspective of the girl Tomory whatever
the hell her name is, and I am never touching
the series ever again.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
Oh this is so sad.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
Is you really tortured me with these series? And because
in general though I'm just not really that big into
music series.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
Music is one of the best.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
I don't know, the music genre for me is quite
underwhelming when it comes to anime. Although both of the
Rock was pretty good.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
I liked it. That has a lot of other things
going for it, right, yeah, because it had a lot
more other things going on for these social anxiety, the
relationships between them. But this show has that too, definitely.
An episode three, we see like that Tomory struggles with
like her social like isolation and then like her connection
from music and then making these friends kind of helping her,
which is why she's so heartbroken when it falls apart,

(30:45):
which brings another question, why did it fall apart?

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Again?

Speaker 1 (30:49):
Fucking I know, like one of them was like upset
against Tomory, not practice jealousy.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
Jealousy thing is.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
We never like, there's a season two that just came
out that I want to watch, but we never find
out why it fell apart. In season one of Injuring,
that's my go Yeah, so we don't get we don't
get Twin Tails perspective, like like she broke up, she
started the band, she broke it the part in that
first episode, and we don't don't really get the answers

(31:16):
as to why, right, we just have to deal with
the repercussions of that. Yeah, it just kind of tosses
you right in the middle of that drama initially, like
very heavy scene right out the gate episode one of
like the band breaking apart, and then it kind of
the reason I recommended this one with that first three
episode package is because it does lead into episode three,
which is one of my favorite episodes of recent anime,

(31:37):
where it gets the build up to that right all
from Tomory's perspective, She's one of the most interesting characters
I think I've seen in recent anime where she doesn't
really have a good comparison maybe Sena from like Petgrol Sakuraso,
but like she's just very like different, weird, like very introverted, shy,

(31:57):
not even shy, just not very good at her expressing herself. Right,
She's serious and uh m hmm, man, I don't know,
like you get the build up to that moment right
where it looks like everybody's having fun, and then like
in that serious moment, they're like, yeah, I've never once
had fun with this band.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
Right, that's another thing that So we don't know the
persons who broke it's up, why they did it, Like
we maybe have some ideas, maybe jealousy, maybe she was
upset about like some of the hate comments. I don't
really I don't really.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Know, but I don't have the answer.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
The other girl, the other girl who like, I don't
know what instrument she plays.

Speaker 2 (32:29):
I can't remember, guitar, guitar, tar, I think she can.
She can kind of play a few instruments. She's really good,
but she plays the guitar for them.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
Yeah, and then she randomly says I never enjoyed this once.
But then now she's trying to restart the band again.
She's not the one restarting it, but she's down. She's
she's down to like rejoin.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
No, she's trying to find people to join. She goes
to the trying to like get people to join.

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Like she's she's not trying to join. He's no, I
thought she was down to join again.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
No, I think people we're trying to recruit at the school,
they were trying to recruit. They just maint friends with her.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
We have the new character that's introduced. She's the one
who really wants to get a band going, and she
kind of sparks all these tensions by asking people that
used to be in a band, right, especially to Maury.
And one of the fucking stupidest, funniest themes was like
the dark hair the dark charac girl being like, why
is she running away whatever? And she's like, oh, I
just asked her to be in my band and she

(33:26):
ran away and she's like scum, You're scum.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
It gets so intense want to nowhere and she's like,
I just got here. I don't know what's going on.
I just casually asked. I thought it'd be fun, you know,
I don't know. Stuff like that cracks me up because
it it is very drama heavy, but it is also
just very character focused. And we find out like the
the name of the show is my Go right, and
my go in Japanese would translate to lost, So all

(33:51):
the characters are very lost in their own way, right,
and they all have these different arcs of trying to
try and face that, and and it all builds towards
the climax, and it's done really, really well.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
So it's one of the things that I like about you, Jordan.
You the way you talk. It's like you make it
sound so good.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
It is it is. Arc is so good watching it.

Speaker 3 (34:15):
It's it's so bad when watching it.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
Name a character is interesting as to Maury, She's just
sitting there collecting stuff. She's like, I do like any
of the characters. I'm not stupid, but I like rocks.
And then she's just collecting them. She's just putting them
on her desk. She's like, I like this one because this,
and then she has the stickers and the notebooks. She
just collects things. Uh. She's just very out there, right,
very different, like throughout her whole childhood and then uh,

(34:37):
you just you just kind of see from her perspective.
She's never really been great at communicating with others, right,
So it learning to do that over the course of
the show very rewarding in a way. I could guess
about this series alway.

Speaker 1 (34:49):
I want to ask again. So I think she was
she played the bass the Soyo Nagasaki whatever it's looked
up her name. She doesn't want to join the Best
and she's just trying to like reunite former members.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Yeah, I mean you're too you're touching on her, right,
I don't want to spoil stuff, But characters have their
own motivations, right.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
Like so one of them just like said they she
didn't want to be part of the band anymore, which
ied like the thing, and the other ones like I didn't.
I didn't have fun. I didn't never enjoyed this one,
so like I don't. I don't believe that.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
I need to watch more to figure out what's going on.
I will say up to one and two is quite
slow at times that I may have watched it like
one point two five.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
No, yeah, it's fair, it is slow, right, it's all
about the build up, like me, I give you as
she sits there and plays with rocks on her desk,
and yeah, anting other kids roly polies out of nowhere,
and they're just like other kids. Don't like those necessarily,
you know.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
Thanks for making me suffer, Jordan, And I give your
anime a one out of ten. This is so say
give it a one out of ten, so sad I'll give.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
I'll give it like a.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
Six so far, dang, okay, all right, I think I
have lower than most people, but it has like an
eighty three on any list.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
Really, so I do seem like really like shows that
picks up. I I know it would. I would have
really struggled to get the episodes three if it wasn't
for this podcast.

Speaker 2 (36:19):
No, that's fair. I do love episode three though. I
thought that was so unique, doing the first person perspective
for the entire thing and just building up to the
climax that is where we started at, and just from
a different perspective, right, from a first person perspective of
like looking around kind of not understanding, like I don't know.
It was good.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
All right, guys, it's the time where we recommend what
we're watching next time. I think we could all agree
that Smartphony Sakai was the best hoe we watched this week.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
All right, how about we don't how about we don't
torture ourselves. Let's let's let's give us some good recommendations.
How about that?

Speaker 1 (36:50):
All right, I'm gonna give you a great recommendation. Ricon
Ready from nineteen ninety seven. No please Berserk?

Speaker 3 (36:58):
Oh you're actually really gonna make me watch Berserk?

Speaker 1 (37:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (37:02):
And can you I've already seen it.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Though you never watched nineteen ninety seven.

Speaker 3 (37:06):
I've watched the CGI crappy one.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
That's what I was saying. You haven't seen it. Watch
you watched twenty sixteen and it starts in the middle
of the story.

Speaker 3 (37:17):
Yeah, but it was really bad.

Speaker 1 (37:20):
Can we commit to four episodes of this?

Speaker 3 (37:22):
I actually really remember the when we when I used
to call you up, like Twigs Lynch watched Berserk.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
Yeah, we used to watch Berserk twenty sixteen together. I
can't believe that.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
I couldn't do twenty sixteen. That one one is oh.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
God, watching nineteen ninety seven? And can I request four episodes? No?

Speaker 3 (37:44):
Oh no, You're not gonna make me watch more than three.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
I will start with three, but I might message you
guys to watch four because I'm trying to remember. I
remember just something that happens, obviously, like the ending's crazy
and there's like some really good cool parts later on.
But I do think something happens early the story, and
the first episode is not the best representation of of
Berzerk nineteen ninety seven. So I kind of want to
see you guys going to episode four. But I'll message

(38:07):
you guys for now this do three.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
I can't believe you're gonna make me watch crappy visually
looking anime.

Speaker 1 (38:12):
It's actually I think that's pretty good for a time.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
But so ricon, how's your how's your day going so far?

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Oh no, it's going great, Jordan, And I feel it's
gonna get bad with you talking.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Oh no, yeah, I get that a lot.

Speaker 3 (38:26):
So what's your recommendation?

Speaker 2 (38:29):
I really had to suffer over these past two weeks,
just so you know, I know a lot of that
was Briggs's fault. Uh, You've actually been recommending good stuff.
So I feel bad about this. I think we should.
I think we should make a rule, you know, no
more season two's because season two it's kind of hard
to just jump in. But of course that rule has
to take place after this. Okay, so after this, so

(38:50):
I'm gonna say, bang dream Avin Musica, which is season
flo off. It's my go on. So I really want
to watch it and to make time to watch it.
I feel like I got to toss that recommendation out there.
You can just do it if you want, or you
can watch the build up, you know, so holy crap.
So I guess a bit of a spoiler is there's

(39:11):
all these characters in the Bang Dream universe that seem
kind of important but aren't really for my go and
then it kind of they all kind of come together
at the very end, this is after all my ghost
stuff happens, and they form their own band and it's
like the Avengers assembling.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
Right, oh shit.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
And then they get their own series announced, and that's
what season two was. It's a series about them, right,
So I having Musica, right, So it's a it's a
whole different band. It's a whole different season about a
different band. And I don't know. I want to. I
want to watch it, so I want to toss it out there.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
You both really want to make me suffer with this?

Speaker 2 (39:43):
Huh, You're just collateral damage this time. I was trying
to make Brigg suffer.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
All right. I guess it's up to me to save
this podcast. Now, have you guys seen eighty six?

Speaker 1 (39:58):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (39:58):
I had?

Speaker 3 (40:00):
Damn okay, never mind, okay, I got it back.

Speaker 1 (40:03):
I like the first season, hate the second season.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
Damn okay, I got it back up. I want you
guys to watch Gabriel dropout.

Speaker 2 (40:12):
Oh no, okay, have.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
You seen it? Brigo?

Speaker 1 (40:16):
I have not, but I feel like I remember to
what this is now?

Speaker 3 (40:19):
This is yeah, I want you guys to watch Gabriel Dropout.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
I know NUTS really liked the show back whenever it
came out, did he? I think so? Yeah, And I
only watched one episode, so like way back when, I
don't remember it very well.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
It was so good. Uh, but yeah, I just came
to my mind. I think that is something you guys
would like.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
Okay, all right, I have a question for chat chat.
Do you have a recommendation for an anime we could
watch three episodes of? Because I think four shows is
perfect timing to get the forty minutes of content. Uh, alright,
because we've been struggling to get forty minutes.

Speaker 3 (40:54):
To recommend some ninety shit.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
Now someone recommends something funny or fun or stupid or
bad or good. This is your time, Chat your time.

Speaker 2 (41:07):
I will say someone came in with will gt O.

Speaker 1 (41:10):
Their first recommendation is gt O already did it?

Speaker 3 (41:14):
We watched that.

Speaker 1 (41:14):
It was bad the one hundred girlfriends. Please know, dude,
please know I've already seen that.

Speaker 2 (41:21):
The biggest show that I've seen. Because I know we're
doing Saturday.

Speaker 1 (41:23):
Next a Prince of Tennis.

Speaker 2 (41:26):
I'm down. Let's go Prince of Tennis.

Speaker 1 (41:31):
Dude, Blaze is such a troll. I was thinking of
doing that astro boy for Ricon. Okay, are you guys
down Prince of Tennis.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
I'm down for that, but it's up the series.

Speaker 3 (41:49):
I mean, I've never like, I guess, unless there's another
better recommendation out there instead of Tennis.

Speaker 1 (41:58):
Have you not watched it? No, you haven't watched it.
I haven't watched it, Jordan. Have you watched Friends with Tennis?

Speaker 2 (42:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (42:05):
But you know, I think for this one we're going.
I think we're going Prince of Tennis.

Speaker 2 (42:11):
Let's go and on that.

Speaker 1 (42:14):
No, boys, I hope you guys enjoyed today's episode of

Speaker 2 (42:30):
Do you feel like this is I'm kind of sad,
this is this is kind of I know you're trying
to wrap it up, but Ricon has been thrown out bangers,
and I feel like we just kind of did him dirty.

Speaker 1 (42:39):
The nineteen ninety seven Berserk.

Speaker 3 (42:42):
You guys, both of you have grown in trash. You
both have thrown in trash and I had to literally
save it.

Speaker 1 (42:49):
Berzerk is actually unreal.

Speaker 2 (42:52):
It's good. You're not wrong, it's good to us. It's
also nineties, so.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
I think it looks good and sound good still, but
we'll find out.

It’s 1996 in rural North Carolina, and an oddball crew makes history when they pull off America’s third largest cash heist. But it’s all downhill from there. Join host Johnny Knoxville as he unspools a wild and woolly tale about a group of regular ‘ol folks who risked it all for a chance at a better life. CrimeLess: Hillbilly Heist answers the question: what would you do with 17.3 million dollars? The answer includes diamond rings, mansions, velvet Elvis paintings, plus a run for the border, murder-for-hire-plots, and FBI busts.
