Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yo, What is up boys? How's it going? And Welcome
back to another episode of the Rant Cafe Anime podcast.
Today we're talking about three more anime. We got anime
Recon with us today. What's up brother? What up?

Speaker 2 (00:10):
Guys?

Speaker 3 (00:11):
It is good to be back and to watch some
more anime.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
We got three here.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
And they are actually looking very good.

Speaker 3 (00:17):
We got two really wholesome ones and a very good
action packed Demon Lord series.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
Yeah. On that note, Recon recommended The Daily Life of
the Immortal King, which turns out I did watch it,
but I feel like I must have, Like it must
have been one of those things I threw on the
TV like while I was like going to bed and stuff,
because I didn't remember it until like I started watching
halfway through episode two. I'm like, I've watched this shit before.

Speaker 4 (00:40):
It's not memorable. I'll give you that. I don't think
it is.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
I think it's I think it might be my favorite
of the three that we watched.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
It can't be, Jordan.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
The thing is, it is one of the most popular
uh Dongo War series of all time or Dongo war
Chinese animation, whatever you want to call it, but it
is one of the most popular.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Anyway, sorry to cut you off, but we also have
Jordan the anime dude with us today and he recommended
Kakushi Goto. What up, Bro? What's up?

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Everybody happy to be here?

Speaker 1 (01:12):
And this one is my dad's secret ambition. And it's
like he's a manga artist, but he doesn't want his
kid to know that he draws etchy or smut manga,
so he pretends to be a businessman. It's a cool
it's a cool concept.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Yeah, it's almost a little show, a lot of word
play in there, fun little series.

Speaker 1 (01:30):
And I recommended Romantic Killer. It's a relatively newer anime.
I actually haven't seen it. I recommended it because I
owed my chat that I had to watch it because
I paid for it. So I'm like, I just need
to this double dip a little bit. It's like a
catchup obviously, like I'm falling behind on everything in my life.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
I watched it on Netflix. It's very good.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Nice, nice. Okay. On that note, what do you guys
want to start with first?

Speaker 4 (01:59):
Can we do the Daily Life of the Immortal King first?
Because I have like a bit of like a background
context for that one. I want to I want to
give all.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Right, you want to get rid of that out of
the way, Okay, let's start with that.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
Sure.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
So. So if I sound a little bit different today,
it's because I've been sick these last couple of days.
I'm not feeling too well this weekend, and I think
like the reason for that might be the fact that
I watched this series. So I watched like three episodes
of the Daily Life of the Immortal King, and then
like immediately after, like I was bedridden. And I don't

(02:31):
know if anybody else has had that problem, but god,
it is. This might be even worse than King's Avatar.
It is up there.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
I hated. You can't go that far.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
Say this. There's no way.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
The same director I did I praised last time did
this one as well. So he did Ringing Fayei did
uh you know, all those other series that came out
of Japan, But this one was one where he didn't
do the script right, like like you said, he was
like adapting like a dongwa or what have you. And
I don't know like the story itself. Well, I guess
it wasn't that bad, but it I don't know. I

(03:08):
was hating it as I went through it. So so
it made me literally sick.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
So you know what's funny, you say that I actually
got sick after watching it too, so maybe maybe you're
maybe I was sick. I had a fucking terrible but yeah,
what to call it. I was sick all a week
and it was right after watching the Daily Life of
the Immortal King.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
But I'm telling you, it's really.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Just you guys have issues with watching times this series.

Speaker 1 (03:32):
I'm like, don't get me wrong, it's trash. It's a trash,
terrible series, but something about it. But something about it, man,
I've wanted to watch more than three episodes. I watched
like six or seven. I kept on watching the trash.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
And you're not the only one. It has like four
or five seasons, Like.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
It's yeah, it has it has a lot of seasons.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
It's because it's just popular. We know what it is.
I do think something with King's Avatar is like they
try and take it serious, like these video games seriously,
and then they just fleck on everyone. And it's the
same thing with a lot of other Chinese adaptations where
it's just like I am the best, everyone praised me
type of situation, and he tries to like subdenly like
brag or suddenly like be humble without being humble, And

(04:14):
I find that from a lot of other shows, and
I feel like this one was like they went more
the comedic route, and because they went the comedic route,
I liked it more.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
It definitely had some funny moments. I think my favorite was, like,
if I had to praise it for a bit, my
favorite was him just crawling out the womb like which
sounds painful as hell, by the way, poor mom, but
then like he just kind of walks out, strides out
and then like scratches his ass as he likes just
talking to his old man already just hello father, Yeah,
hello father, I require sustenance now, like he It was

(04:48):
funny in some ways, but I don't know it's it
would go like too far, too deep down the rabbit
hole on like things I just couldn't care less about,
Like like the third episode, they're like sitting there doing
their making in those things, and I'm like that was
the entire episode. But it had its moments that made
me laugh, like him suddenly getting held up at gunpoint,
but uh, like that kind of came out of nowhere,

(05:11):
but its classmen. I pulled out the bliky but but yeah,
like but for the most part, like it's like there's
things that should like where it's like trying to make
me laugh and then I don't laugh, and then comedy
is one of those subjective things where if it doesn't
make you laugh but it's trying to, it's like it
just doesn't feel like it's hitting right.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
So I'm to be honest. As much as I like
to call it a trash because it is, it's like
it's self aware. It's self aware. Yeah, because I found
it funny, I wanted to keep on watching, so I
need to say that it's actually pretty good. I can't
say it's trash even though I want to say it's trash.
I'm gonna say it's actually pretty good from my perspective
because I wanted to watch more. It made me laugh

(05:50):
and it didn't take itself too seriously, unlike some of
its other counterparts that I've watched or other don we
based stuff that I've watched.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Yeah, I will say it visually it was beauty, Like
music wise, it was beautiful, Like it didn't have like
quality issues by any means, so like it was it
was up there in like a lot of different ways.
There was just something that I have like trouble verbalizing,
that I just didn't quite like about it. So I
don't know why that is. It's just you.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Let me remind the three of you that this show,
across all its the seasons, has a seven point thirty
rating across all of them.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
That's how good it is, you know what. I think
that's fair. I will probably give it a seven out
of ten. It's better than sort of our line.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
I gave it like a two out of ten, so
I'm the one holding it down them.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
I highly disagree with you breaks, but okay, I say
it was like.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
The reason why I said it's better than Saoscuy. I
gave Sao six point five. Damn dude, this was funny.
At least this was funny. I wanted to watch more
and it was a rewatch that I somehow didn't remember
watching in the past. Recon Why did you recommend it?
What do you like about the series?

Speaker 3 (06:57):
So just to give you context about the show, I
know you guys are probably not even gonna fucking continuely because.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
Let's every night and then if I wake up and
I'm in Season Q, I'm gonna keep on going.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
So it intrigued me.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
The more I continued watching, the more I learned about
Wangling as as a protagonist because him as a as
a as a literal baby, I can't speak by now, literally,
how do you pronounce literal?

Speaker 1 (07:27):
He had one too many drinks. He can't speak learn his.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Words, literal baby.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
He defeated the Great demon Lord, and he is just
so overpowered.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
So his parents pretty much they gave.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Him like an amulet to suppress his powers, because Wangling
is capable of destroying the entire world with like a
flick of his finger, like instantly, like that, like just
an example. So they gave him amulet to suppress his powers.
And basically, over time that amul, it breaks. The more
he uses his powers, it breaks over time. So they

(08:04):
send him to school to make friends and YadA, YadA,
And still he's powerful at school because he's flexes on
everyone and people have no idea, like what the fuck
is going on? But that is just like a small
percentage of his power, like he could do so much more.
But even with that small percent he is still so
destructive and he just destroys everything. But the entire show

(08:28):
is it's just a funny comedy parody of Shenanigan's just
going on and him just destroying all the events or
the the what's it called the tournament or the contest
going on at school to like power test the students
and shit. But yeah, I kind of like that stuff
like that, you know, like testing power, like.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
The overpowered flexing testing power. Yeah, things, Yeah, it's cool.

Speaker 3 (08:56):
It's a cool concept. That's what attracted me the show,
and I just kept watching it.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
So I think I've realized, after watching a ton of anime,
how I like my overpowered protagonists. I like my overpowered
protagonists to either have a backstory or like have to
like work their way up to achieving that level of power,
Like they have to earn it in a way. They
can't just be like I don't usually love when they're
just born overpowered, over their overpower for no reason, how

(09:22):
unless it's funny like Mashall, like Saitama, and in this case,
like our main character, wong Ling Buddy crawled out of
his fucking mother's womb, scratching his ass and saying, hello, father,
I need substance Like that just fucking stupidly fun. He
just wants his chips. He just wants his snacks, and

(09:43):
he defeats the Demon King or whatever some like really
strong demon because he just wants Yeah, the giant minion Briggs.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
Remember Misfits of Demon King Academy almos Woldigold?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Yes, do you remember when he was a baby? You
know what happened?

Speaker 4 (10:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (10:05):
His name like like his parents like what should we
call this baby?

Speaker 1 (10:08):
And he's like all.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
He starts talking. That series was also kind of just
ironically funny, which is what this one kind of reminded
me of Out the Gate, And to be fair that
that one is one I had to go back and
try to rewatch a second time before I actually found
it funny. So I don't know, maybe I just need
to give this some time to cook. But can I
ask you some questions? I guess based on those first
three episodes, like where I was kind of a bit lost,

(10:34):
just to see if that helps to clear things up. So,
so he wants to be low key, right, like he said,
like he's stressed, way to handle his powers, just to
be low key, but he is flexing at every opportunity
a right like that combined with like that the test

(10:55):
that they had at the beginning, they kept walking in
and they had to punch the giant image of the frog.
It was almost like one of those arcade games where
you're just like punching the boxing thing. Why did why
was that? Why was that so extra?

Speaker 5 (11:07):
Like?

Speaker 4 (11:07):
Why was that? Why was there a giant like why
did they even need to see the giant frog like that?
They're just sitting there punching a wall like once and
then that was the whole test, and then they needed.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
A giant frog test to measure their power. I don't know,
I don't know. And he was sealed. The natural frog
was sealed below.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
Yeah, yeah, it was filled below and they just had
the hologram of it, just to like see what what
the students are capable of, because it's a special school.
It's not a normal school. It's a specially it.

Speaker 4 (11:33):
Doesn't seem like a safe place to steal that, like
right beneath the school with all these children. And then
then he summons it and they get over it's so quick,
all right, They're like, it's just that it's just a
cute little doggie.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
Al right.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
It turned from a frog to a dog and everybody
just went with it.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
Like like he summoned it. And then people like the
teacher didn't think he summoned it. He was like, oh,
it's here, it must have like it. It was almost
as though they assumed it, like that's not possible that
a student summed right like it would just like it
showed up type of thing.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
And then the whole second episode was like an election,
and the only person running was like the like the
the only girl we really get to know with the
little flower in her hair.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
I forget her names wrong, I think.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
But I don't think anybody who's running against her, but
like she she was bribing like crazy, like if you
will vote for me, I will buy you all this stuff.
And here's a picture of me in a bikini.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
And by the way, spoiler alert, spoiler alert, she becomes
his girlfriend.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Just let you know.

Speaker 2 (12:29):
It's not so obvious, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
The chad guy. The chad guy was running. The guy
who works out was running. I'm pretty sure.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
Oh was he okay? That's I was like, I was like,
is anybody else even running? I never touched on any
of that. It was just her bribing everybody. I'm like,
I think you're already gonna win. Like I didn't see any.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Anything, So who ended up winning. It wasn't her.

Speaker 4 (12:50):
I would assume her, but no, it wasn't.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
I don't know because she like, I don't even be
witched everybody or like whatever, Like I don't know what
the word is for. It's I'm gonna call it bewitched everybody.
And then he like canceled it out and then bewitched her.
And it was all because he wanted some snacks. I'm
pretty sure initially because he want snacks, that's why he
like initially did the vote or whatever, and then he
undid it, and I think, but I'm pretty sure she
didn't end up getting picked.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
Yes, But see, that's the thing is, I can't tell,
like what's really going on because.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
It was like a little it was so trashy. You
couldn't concentrate, you weren't invested.

Speaker 4 (13:24):
I was trying so hard, I kept like getting sidetracked
all these little questions that show answered.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
This is a show that you would just watch with
your brain turned off because there's just so many random
shit happening in this shit.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
I tried to leave the brain on, and by the end,
like it was it shut down completely. So that's it's
on me.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
There was an episode I don't know if it was
episode three, but there was an episode early on where
like these people came into the school and I can't
remember what their what their goal was, but they like
fucking infiltrated the school. So they put all these students
in a room. The buddy leaves the room because he
wanted to go get more snats, and then they got
the conversation he was having. There was this invisible guy

(14:03):
that was powering up and he's like, no one can
see me, and he's think, I could see you, and
then he realized like he wasn't talking about him. He's like, oh,
never mind, he was talking about his snacks or something,
and he's like, no, I was also talking about you,
or no, I could also see you. I just subtle
flex he it was actually killing me. I was actually
I was entertained. Okay, I was entertained.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
I was entertained by the butt scratching and then like
the classmate holding him up at gun point all of
a sudden, at random, and like how they just kind
of breezed by that like ready like hide the they
were ready to hide the body. As soon as he
accidentally shot the other guy, they're all right, you get
the other end, we'll call it even after this, what
I'll ever know.

Speaker 1 (14:41):
Okay, let's talk about which one. Let's do a Romantic Killer.
I want to hear you guys talk about my pick
a little bit.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
All Right, you want to go first here, Riconnor do
you want me to go first? Or sure?

Speaker 3 (14:54):
I guess I'll go first. So I've watched Romantic Killer
when it first came out. Actually probably talked too much.
Maybe you should go first, Jordan, because I've already seen
the whole thing, so maybe you should give Europeans first.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
So this is one of those series where I did
hear about it from people whenever it came out, and
I think it kind of has that Netflix problem of
it came out all at once, so people binched it
and then they never really talked about it again, which
is a big shame because like actually going back and
diving into it, like it's pretty high quality. It's like
not the type of show I would normally watch a

(15:29):
ton not really like a big reverse Harem guy or
or anything like that, but it was still funny, like
still had that those rom com moments, and like the
quality was there. So honestly one of my favorite reverse harems.
Now it might even be might even be better than
or on High School. I don't know. It was solid,

(15:49):
it was it was a fun little series. I loved
the little mascot character and how chaotic he was, because
you know, he took away her three favorite thing, you know,
the three big things that you need in life, right,
video games, play, video games acts right, So like yeah,
and and whenever he first did that, I'm like, wait,
what do you say about the cat? What happened to
the cat? Like I was just hoping the cat was okay.

(16:10):
But but it's okay because he just like alters the
universe and ways where her her dad now works overseas
and he got transferred there, so our parents are going
to live there. And it's like, but he's a postman,
he works at the post office. But things don't have
to make sense, right, it's for the Yeah, it's it's
his magic for the sake of these, uh, these plot

(16:30):
conveniences that we would normally see in rom comms. Right,
And I I've heard that the ending is really good,
so like, I think it's kind of working. It's but
like it it really does not care for the conveniences
of other people's lives as it like makes these things
be Yeah, I felt so bad dude. In episode two, dude,

(16:51):
it made a storm.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
It made a storm, and it's like wait, like you're
you realize you're affecting like all these families. Like what
if you had, like had things like people could add
like like sports games, meetings, like family events like stay out,
don't go outside. But my grandma's dying in the off
but o'll fuck exactly.

Speaker 4 (17:09):
And he said he didn't make it like that big
of a storm. But like I felt bad for the kid.
That's like they're like, oh yeah, you're room flooded, and
like it only hit your room, right, It's like it's
like a tornado as far as storms go. It's like,
oh yeah, thing just hit Dave's house.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Or over there.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
They didn't hit anything else. It's crazy. So you know,
he had to skip school, he had he got his
phone shattered from their their reunion, Like I felt so
bad for this kid. And then end of episode three,
another kid spawns out of nowhere. It's like, oh yeah,
we've always been childhood friends. I'm like, where do you
get this kid from? Where did you get his family from?
What happened to their lives prior to this. I have

(17:43):
so many questions and I want to get there. So
I'm enjoying it. I think the middle might be a
bit of a lull, just because it's not like quite
the show type of show i'd normally watch. But uh,
but like I see what they're doing with it. I'm
enjoying it so far, and like I do want to
get to the end of this one, so I.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
Don't realize it's just fun. It's a fun show, and
like I'm starting to get invested. I like the fact
that our main girl host, you know, is like fighting it.
Like she's like, at this stupid wizard took away my
chocolate and my cat and my life is changing everything
and like making me, like forcing me into these romantics,
into situations I'm gonna make myself a terrible person to counteract,

(18:21):
Like I'm gonna make sure I'm not looking cute. I'm
gonna be I'm gonna be rude and ignore this person
and say no to their nice gestures. I'm just gonna
be like, I don't know why I found it so funny,
Like her fighting the romance was just very entertaining for me.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
She has a very good personality. I like a very
a lot of character in that character. I guess you
could say, right, very lovable and some of the things
I took kind offense to as far as uh, She's like,
I dressed like a dork, so that way nobody will
ever think I'm cute. I'm like, I think that outfits adorable,
like what do you what do you? What do you mean?
Had her shirt tucked in and whatnot, And I'm like
that that's just I don't know, it was a cute show.

(19:00):
It was a cute show.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
It's funny. I feel like by ignoring the guy and
not trying to impress him and like not going for
the romantic gestures that maybe other girls that's what got him.
That's what gets them, you know, And I feel like
there's something real about that as well, like sometimes being
yourself and not caring or not trying too hard is
like the best way to like.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
Yeah, get That's why I felt so bad for the
guy and stuff as well, because you know, sometimes that's
what you need, is like for something to happen naturally,
and like he got to know her as a person,
and I that's why I see there's some chemistry there.
But like prior to that, he has a girls hitting
on him, but he has so many other things it
seems like in his life that he's trying to address

(19:39):
and that he has going on. We don't know why,
but he's living apart from his family. Yeah, so he's
already living on his own. Yeah, he just broke his phone,
He's trying to work a job. He's like, he has
all these other things he's dealing with. He's like, I
don't want to deal with romance aro on top of
that right now, I'm not trying to date. And then
lo and behold the mascot characters pulling him in anyways
and like making him a, you know, a part of

(20:00):
this thing.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
So that man character is quite funny. I do a
little bit too, but also annoying. Recline thought the show
or like first impressions, I know you watch it all,
but like this general thought.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
I like the show.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
Watched on Netflix when it first came out, Uh, stuck
with it, and I really like the characters. It's a
very wholesome, cute show about in atomy game or what
many a lot of people call it dating simulator.

Speaker 2 (20:29):
I've watched so much a.

Speaker 3 (20:31):
Tomy game series or dating sims, especially seasonal like so
much villainous anime are coming out and they all revolver
folks on atomy games and dating sims, so I'm familiar
with that, which is why I decided to check this
one out too.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
And it's great. It's great.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
I like the characters, it's funny. There's a lot of Shenanigans,
cute moments, great characters, simple story.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
You know, this girl is a zoo.

Speaker 3 (20:57):
She's being forced by the Wizard to put her gaming
you know, ship to the test into a real life
dating simulator situations to go with a bunch of guys
and see to see if she can you know, get
in a relationship with one of them. First she goes
with the first guy, whatever his name is, I'm just
gonna call him orange hair guy. And then she goes

(21:19):
with with the next guy, and then the next until
you know, something works out, which is what the Wizard
is trying to get her to do it. And if
she succeeds, she will get all of her chocolate and
games and her cat back. But yeah, the ending in
the Ultimate ward, the ending is great, by the way,
If you guys stick with it, I'm sure you'll be impressed.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
But yeah, it's a good show.

Speaker 4 (21:41):
Yeah, I'm gonna try to get there. I feel like
it does do a good job of like almost parroting
and like poking fun at that type of series while
also doing that series really well, like like while also
like doing it on ironically and just being really good
at it. So yeah, a solid a little series so far.
Did you guys have any thoughts some like the three
D animations I guess towards the start of it of

(22:03):
like of that video game she was playing.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
It looks so bad, But like I feel like this
looked bad on purpose, which was I.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
Would I would play that, I would play that.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
I thought that was that's very very little.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
It's the whole thing is just it's nicely animated, the
whole thing.

Speaker 4 (22:16):
Well like that. I guess that's my point is that
like it was done that way on purpose, right, like yeah,
we're also still doing it really well. So it was good. Fuck.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
I just realized we forgot to give ratings for Day
Life with Mortal King and now this one.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
I give like a seven out of ten Daily Life
of a Mortal Kings.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
I gave Daily Life a two maybe.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
Like a six point five maybe seven little bit too generous.
I just I wanted to watch. Whenever I think I
want to watch more of something, I always just tend
to give it a high rating, even if it's like
objectively not the best. It's like the fact that I
want to watch more means is doing stuff right, even
if I can't critically think about what it's doing it right.
At the end of the day, I want to watch more,

(22:56):
and like there's a lot of anime I watch, right,
I don't want to watch more.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
Yeah, that's a good point. I really don't want to
watch more. Probably one point five two is too generous,
So I think I think there pretty.

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Well nice recon What would you rate Immortal King?

Speaker 3 (23:14):
I gave it a seven fair, it's solid solid seven.
For Romantic Killer, I gave this one a nine.

Speaker 1 (23:20):
Is very good, but to be fair excited to hear
the fact that you like the ending, so I do
want to continue.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
Good ending as well.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
M hmm. I think I still enjoyed Immortal King more
than Romantic Killer so far, which is crazy, like six point.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Both of them are parodies.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
Both of them are parody comedy shows. They're they're both funny,
but just one is more action packed than the other.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
One is more cutesy.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
A six point five. I was entertained.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Just a sixth rating. Yeah, I also gave it a
six point five, but I can see like if the's good,
very well, going up to like a seven or seven
point five, maybe even higher. Who knows for sure. Endings
are hard to know. I've heard nothing, but only.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
Watched two episodes of Romantic Killer, and I watched like
seven of Daily Life of Immortal King, which is not
exactly fair. But I have watched three of the Kakashi
or Kokushi Goto Kukushi Goto if we want to talk
about that ricon? Do you want to go first for Kakushi?

Speaker 4 (24:18):
Got sure if you want to.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
So I watched this of course, being a seasonal watcher.
This one came out back in twenty twenty, so yeah,
the COVID season amazing.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
Fuck yeah.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
Anyways, having been locked down, this one came out. This
was a very wholesome, cute anime. The dad works as
a etchy manga guy.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
He's an artist. He draws edgy stuff, and he has a.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
Little girl who lives with him, his daughter, and he
doesn't want her to find out what he does because
if that happens.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
Well, she's gonna think.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
That he's some weird, pervy guy who draws etchi stuff.
So he pretends to be some business guy, like he's
a professional businessman, but even though he's not. He goes
to the office and he has all his other co
workers in the office will help up do the manga.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
And over there he also talks about his.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
Problems and how he and he tells them all he
doesn't want his daughter to find out about this, so
do keep it a secret and shit, and we see
them all working on manga and all that cute relationship
between the father and daughter and you know, good working
environment between the co workers.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
It's very much focused on Slice of life.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
But yeah, I like love how much the dad cares
for the daughter and they use that in a comedic
way to like he overdoes it to like make her happy.
But that makes me happy. You know, it is wholesome.
It's wholesome comedy. And like the girl, like thet the
little kid such a good girl too, and she's just
like kid for her father and one I don't know,

(25:51):
the respect that she has for her father is so nice.
She's a little bit like lost sometimes and like he's
a kid, right, Yeah, I liked it. Is it my
type of show? Per se? Not really, I do want
to watch more because they did interest me in like one,
I don't know what happened to the mom, but like

(26:12):
also they keep on jump mom died. They jumping to
her at like eighteen or something like that. They're jumping
to her at eighteen looking at their old home, and
there's some something about that's interesting me, like just some
mystery to it that I want. They keep on teasing
about what's gonna happen in the future and then jumping
back to that communicy.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
It pulls that berserk writing where like it tells you
right off rip, like something bad happened right right, but
you don't know why. Yeah, And so it's, uh, it's
just kind of in the back of your head as
you're watching this, uh, this wholesome slice of life series otherwise, right,
so it's always interesting how that, uh, how that happens.
So the yeah, the writing's there in that way, and

(26:52):
then uh, there's just a lot of word play throughout
it as well. So it's a very cleverly written series.
Like Kakushi got like references like the main character's name
but also like a drawing job and then like also
like a secret, like all those different things have like
meaning in like akagucci goto, right, And they talk about
other wordplay throughout, like whenever they say mushoku at one point,

(27:16):
you know, it could mean jobless, but it could also
mean like colorless, right, So I think it just kind
of draws like very direct lines of logic to all
that that wordplay we often see in uh in this
Japanese media.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
So that's cool. I think I'm gonna give everything at
six point five out of ten today. All three all
very okay, there's all equally okay. I kind of want
to watch more, but like I'm not like dying to
watch more.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Yeah, I would give this a six. Wouldn't really be
my type of show, but I did finish it. And
by the way, spoiler alert, she does find out, don't that's.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
I mean, that's so yeah, she's going in.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
Even in an episode three, they flash forward and show
hints that like he may discover it's more about her father,
and they gives there's like an emotional like undercut a
like showing that something probably happened, you know, And I
think there's like two private reveals one in regards to
the mother, because then he ended up designing a house
for him and his daughter that was identical to a

(28:19):
previous house that she ends up finding or he may
ends up finding. And then in the same regard, she's
discovering this and she has her father's key. What happened
to the father? So there is this mystery or something
that's keeping me interested on top of the wholesome comedy.
So I do like it. Again, it's just usually not

(28:39):
exactly my type of show, but I try and say
open minded, and I do want to watch more.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
There's at least references and stuff too, though, Right, I'm
a sell brigs on this one piece. Oh yeah out
of ten, Yeah, exactly, there we go.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
I wanted they said one place, and I'm like, that
shit's real, that the show is real. For that one
piece is real in this story. Therefore it's a seven
out of ten. It's the best day I may watch
this week.

Speaker 4 (29:01):
I love how every other manga they brought up, like
Attack on Titan and stuff, they'd have some other name
for it, but for one piece, it was just one piece. Right,
He was like, of course, I'm embarrassed about my job.
I like, yeah, I write manga, but it's not like
I write one piece like that would be that'd be
bragging rights, right, But but no, I write this manga
that has all these dirty jokes and things like that, right.
I don't want my daughter to know about that. So yeah,

(29:25):
cute little series, cut little series.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
I'd give it like watching him like Riz up other
like single moms or like other other women. Oh yeah,
as a single father. But anyway, let's go on to
recommending what we want to watch for next week. Does
anyone want to go first?

Speaker 4 (29:41):
I have one because I started a new anime this
weekend right after, you know, right after I finished watching
Daily Life the Immortal King. I was like, you know what,
I need to watch something good that I've been getting recommended,
and I started Orb Orb. Yeah it I haven't yet

(30:02):
recon I only watched a little bit of it, but
I'm loving it so far. It's like, right up my alley,
and I want to watch more.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
I love it as well. I'm down. Let's let's maybe
rewatch the three episodes rereak on me and you and
then we could talk about it and discuss it.

Speaker 4 (30:15):
I'm watching that anyways. It's the only reason I say that,
so I'm trying, like I'm trying to do get through it.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Yeah, hmmm, I got I got one. This is a
very good one. It's called The Great JAHI will not
be defeated.

Speaker 1 (30:31):
I've never heard of that.

Speaker 4 (30:34):
I know who the mangaa is, but I have not
seen the anime.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
So there's a lot of a lot of memes within
the manga going around. But then it got an anim adaptation.
It was very good.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
It's called It's very cute.

Speaker 4 (30:49):
I've seen shorts on the on the Instagram, so I'll
have to give this a watch.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
All right, Chad, do you guys want something potentially good
or bad? Troll or or what do you guys want? Chat?
Don't make it old?

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Please not astro boy, none of that bullshit.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
Okay, back in old?

Speaker 4 (31:13):
Oh god, it's not old.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
But back in the day, we watched an anime. Everyone
ripped it apart. Everyone in the community hated it. I
watched like four minutes of it because I let the
community impact my decision. But it looked pretty bad. So
I want to recommend handshakers.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
Oh I've seen that breaks the ship.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
You see everything, dude, you can.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
See absolute garbage. Don't recommend anything by Go Hands please.

Speaker 4 (31:39):
It's so bad. Go Hands is rough, so fucking rough.

Speaker 1 (31:43):
Man. I feel like we all sit down watching three
episodes of Handshakers.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
And.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
I've seen it breaks.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
It is terrible breaks. So a little bit of lure here,
Like as far as me being like an anime YouTuber,
right like, it's not like I made a lot of videos,
but way back when, one of the very first videos
I did was like trying to predict what would be
good in the next season, and I actually predicted that
Handshakers would be good. I was like, it's so shiny
in the trailer, like, how could it be bad? Right, Like,

(32:15):
it looks so pretty? And then I watched one episode
instantly like they over it was so wrong. I've never
been so wrong in my life. It's from my biggest
shames right there.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
So funny story.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
Actually, the only anime that Gohans ever has done that
is actually very good and a lot of people like it.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
Was K Project or k Return at Kings.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
That one is single handedly the best anime that Gohans
has ever done, and the rest of the series they do, yeah,
it's the highest rated one that they've done, and the
rest of the series that I've done, like I think
it was Handshakers W's and their most recent upcoming one,
the exiled Heavy Night. So they they overdo things a

(32:58):
lot with their fucking camera angles and ship and.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
There is so much it's terrible.

Speaker 3 (33:07):
I don't like it.

Speaker 4 (33:08):
You want to get me going on a rabbit hole.
You want to talk about how big bad Handshakers is.
Briggs like, I've not seen that episode, so take it
with a grain of salt. He said, W's right, Yeah,
that is that is Handshaker season two. Yeah, they just
didn't want to call it Handshakers season two because they
know new button. They knew nobody would watch it if
they called it that, like, so they had to try

(33:29):
to call it something else to get people to watch it.
And people started watching it and they go, this is
just Handshaker season two.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
The same exact saying.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
I was trying to think of like a critically hated
show that I haven't.

Speaker 4 (33:43):
Seen watched the episodes, Yeah, like.

Speaker 1 (33:46):
I think I watched like five or six minutes. I'm like,
this is ship, and I let I let the community
dictate my opinion and stop me.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
As well, you should in situations like.

Speaker 1 (33:54):
This people this time, they're right. But you know what,
I want to sit down and watch three episodes and
Handshakers and have an intellectual conversation about every con. You
must rewatch it because I'm gonna test you on what
happened that episode three sixteen seconds.

Speaker 5 (34:09):
Okay, fuck, I just kind of forgot what happens in
the series. I only know about the concept and the
plot idea, but I kind of pretty much forgot what happened.

Speaker 3 (34:26):
You're you're really gonna make me fucking see this garbage again.

Speaker 2 (34:29):
My eyes are gonna heard watching it. Literally, it's pain
into my eyes.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
I said, Daily Life the Immortal King might be one
of the worst things I've watched, and he said, you
know what, that sounds like a challenge. Here you go,
you're Handshakers, all right, I'm down to watch three episodes
of it. I'll give it my best shot.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
I'm gonna try.

Speaker 4 (34:48):
I'm gonna try turn the brain on as I watch it.

Speaker 1 (34:53):
Anyway, guys, I hope you guys enjoyed in this episode
of Rank Cafe. Next week we are watching he Shakers
twenty seventeen. Let's go, we are watching two other anime.
I already forgot what.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
You guys said watching Handshakers in twenty five. Yeah, watch.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
JAHI, the Great JAHI will not be defeated.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
The Great JAHI will not be defeated. And Orb orb
is it just called ORBS. There not a longer title
to it.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
The movements of the universe or some Yeah, the movements
of the Earth or the movements of the Earth.

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Yeah, cool, but everybody calls it ORB.

Speaker 1 (35:30):
I liked it. I will rewatch it. I never finished it,
so maybe this will this will get me back into it.

Speaker 3 (35:36):
And twenty four episodes, but you gotta watch it with
your brain turned on. Oh there's a lot.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
Maybe that's the problem. Maybe you need an extremely high
IQ to understand that's subtle.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
No, she don't need un listen, listen, you don't need
a high IQ to understand or but you gotta like,
you gotta pay attention handshake.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
It's fuck ORB, dude, I know what handshake is.

Speaker 5 (35:57):
Man.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
You need an extremely high IQ to see the shuttle,
the settle movement to the hands shaking. I actually don't
know what about, guys, I really don't know. I don't
know what it does.

Speaker 4 (36:08):
It's so confusing.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
It's ship Yeah, but for all to pay attention for sure.

Speaker 3 (36:13):
Yeah, you need to pay attention to work, and on
the levels of like Lord of Mysteries.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
Fair Lord. I've I've watched a little bit more a
load of mysteries off stream, and I honestly just think
like it's good. But I feel like they're they're not
tying anything together. Like I feel I want to say cool,
complicated ship and then just keep things moving. They're like, yeah,

(36:38):
that sounded bad ass, so we're gonna say it. I
feel like it doesn't actually matter. I feel like a
lot of things they say don't matter.

Speaker 3 (36:47):
Ro I just watched the whole thing just for the
visuals and the action.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
I don't care about anything else.

Speaker 4 (36:53):
Was cool, yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:55):
And yeah boys, And just like that. I will see
you guys all all next time. Shinpoku later bite
