Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yo, what is up? Boys? How's it going?
Speaker 2 (00:01):
And welcome back to another episode of the Rank Cafe podcast.
We are somehow still doing this. This is still going.
This week we are covering a Lord of Mysteries. That's
the anime I recommended. We Recon recommended, funk. I don't
remember the name of it. What was it called the
Weakest Tamer blah blah blah, j some journey about trash.
Speaker 3 (00:19):
The Weakest Tamer began a journey to pick up trash breaks.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
You gotta get it right, Timber, Like you think I
like would do some prep or like write down the names,
But like, I shouldn't have to write down the name
of three anime. I shouldn't be that hard to remember
three anime.
Speaker 3 (00:34):
But I'm not gonna lie that I take about it
every week because I forget to.
Speaker 4 (00:37):
People call it the Weakest Tamer. That's the weakest, the
weakest dude.
Speaker 2 (00:41):
Anime anime titles are long. The Weakest Tamer began a
journey to pick up trash is Recon's choice as usual,
and then Jordan for the boys in chat, he chose xxxolic.
We also want to talk about this new Securo anime.
Recon will enlighten us on that. Actually, why don't we
(01:02):
start with that. I don't think it's out yet, racon.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
Right, No, no, but they revealed the first trailer a
couple of days ago, and it's I'm so damn excited.
Hell yeah, it's an anime. It's a full anime series
from start to finish. It's literally gonna adapt the entire game.
So you're gonna see the wolf fighting, all the famous
(01:24):
boss like a Nie Hero, the the the ape and
the ship and all. That's gonna be so awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
I wish they did Dark Souls one instead. That would
have been good Soles three. Actually I lied, I feel like, but.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
It doesn't really have that much of a story Dark
Souls compared to Sequido.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Dark Souls has a lot of lore that I love
and good world building, but I do think Sequiro has
a more linear story that you could actually tell an
anime format, and it just it's gonna be I feel
like it's gonna be sick.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
The the animation quality looks good for it, and I'm
just excited to see, like the fight. They showed us
some snippets of wolf fighting geobl which was cool. I mean,
if you're a Secure you remember Giobel right, the first
of us.
Speaker 2 (02:11):
I feel like, if you are a Secure fan, you're
gonna like this anime unless they butcher it.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
The se is like, uh, is it is that like
Japanese Dark Souls or is that essentially okay?
Speaker 4 (02:23):
Yeah, it's made by the same people who did Dark
Souls from frum Soft.
Speaker 2 (02:27):
So it's the same company. It's a hard, difficult game
or like they're known for making difficult games, but this one,
rather than being more dark soulsy, it's more like Katana Japanese.
You're pairing a lot more stuff like that government based
as well, a lot more movement.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
As a person who platinumed the game on the PlayStation,
I feel much obliged.
Speaker 3 (02:53):
Does that mean you got every achievement?
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Yeah, Platinum.
Speaker 2 (02:59):
Let's talk about Lord of Mysteries.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Let's Lord of Mysteries.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
So you guys have to take it away lot.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Had you seen it ever recommending it? Okay? Rican, you
want to get it started on this one?
Speaker 4 (03:14):
There you said, you know what, Yeah, I've seen the
whole thing and it's done.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Now I didn't think it was done.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Yeah, it's done, it's done.
Speaker 2 (03:23):
It's done. It must have just finished.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
It finished on August sixteenth.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
So okay, not long ago.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
So there's a lot to say about this.
Speaker 4 (03:35):
But first and foremost, this is not really aimed for newcomers,
or more to say, on the lines of people who
aren't that familiar with the Lord of the Mysteries.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
The manga. I think, no, it's it's the novel.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Yeah, yeah, the novel. I didn't even know a Lord
of Mysteries was prior to watching this animal. I think
at the newcomer, I still was able to enjoy it regardless,
it's enjoyable.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
How many episodes did you watch? Just off here? Thirteen?
Speaker 1 (04:10):
I said, all of it.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
I'm so confused on that. Then everything I look at
says it's still airing.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
This is this man, it's finished thirteen episodes.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Huh okay, I'll have to mess you about that.
Speaker 1 (04:23):
Are you watching it?
Speaker 3 (04:24):
I don't know. Everything I look at says there's only
like ten episodes out and episode eleven is airing in
like a day.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Honest, Jordan, that's what I thought too.
Speaker 3 (04:32):
Yeah, so that's why I was a little little thrown
off here.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Hold on, hold on, hold on, I'm ruining the podcast.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
You're good, So I guess uh, Lord of Mysteries. I've
read a lot of web novels over the years. I'm
not always like getting.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
Threteen episodes on nine anime. I don't know where you
guys are watching it.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
So for me, it says that there's thirteen total, but
there's only ten outs so far.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yeah, but it's thirteen on nine anime.
Speaker 2 (04:59):
I don't know about you. Someone fucking anime kai over
here anyway, continue Georgia.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Yeah, so I've read a lot of web novels over
the years, and I might not always like get that
far into them or be the biggest fan of the
ones I read, But there's so many times I just
jump into a random web novel and I read like
ten twenty chapters, or I read the first volume or
or whatever that consists of. Right, so I was at
least relatively familiar with with trance, not transmutation. I'm blinking
(05:27):
now on what it's called.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
I don't know what the hell I know you're talking about.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
That, Yeah, transfiguration whatever they do in the uh more
of the Korean slash Chinese novels. It's basically like their
version of an Isa Kai, where rather than just being
transported into a New World. You your mind like blends
with when an inhabitant of that world to where you're
you're basically you're you are that person with their memories,
(05:50):
but also you're, you know, some twenty year old dude
from China, right, So it's like the the memories of both.
So I was at least able to kind of follow along,
I feel like better than maybe some people did. But
even so, it feels like there's a lot of Show
not Tell, which is great. I love Show Not Tell,
(06:12):
but it was almost like still hard to follow along
at certain parts in these first three episodes that I watched.
Does that get better? Would you say, Ricon or like no,
because I I don't think go over the power system
and how that works a little bit at the start
of every episode, you know, like kind of like FMA
and them do. So I was hoping that would maybe
just elaborate on that a little bit more. But the
(06:33):
first three episodes it seemed like they really wanted to
get to that climax at the at the end of
episode three where he's like fighting a clown and stuff,
and which which was really cool. It was a really
cool fight, but yeah, it was hard, like hard to
follow at times. Right, there was a lot.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
Going on sometimes I feel like one I do want
to start off by saying, I really really enjoyed the
first three episodes. I am genuinely loving this series. However,
while I do agree with you that Show Not Tell
is a good thing, I do think in combination with
the animation, which I do think is good at times,
(07:08):
sometimes it's overly animated in a way. There's so much
animation going on as fog and all these effects that
they're doing, which makes it a little bit harder to follow.
It's already confusing enough, not having one hundred percent grasp
of the power system. But sometimes in fights or in
certain moments, there's so much like visual clutter. It's like
(07:32):
what you're finding at Bangalore or a caustic in Apex Legends.
It's like, those are good characters, but now I don't
know what's going on. I don't know left from right.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Yeah, Yeah, there was a lot of action. I actually
didn't mind the animation that much. I figured the animation,
if anything, was very beautiful, and I loved a lot
of these transitions that they did. So I really wanted
to like this show, and I wouldn't say I don't
like it. I'm so torn and like in between on
whether I'm loving it or whether I'm like like, I'm
(08:04):
not sure what to feel about this show. I don't,
I don't know. I don't have a great score on
this one.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
I am yet to like a Chinese anime. This will
probably be my favorite so far that I've experienced. But
what about the Kings Avatar that fucking sucked?
Speaker 4 (08:19):
Dude?
Speaker 3 (08:20):
I think that one is also based off of one novel, right,
So I'm honest.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
I feel like these Chinese shows they are always like, well,
actually you needed to really like either like a really
high i Q to appreciate the subtle nuances this show,
or the main character is just like, well, actually I
am the best, and everyone shall see that I'm the best.
It's just I don't, I don't know, dude. It's to
be hero X Chinese. I thought it was Korean.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
It's Chinese.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
It's the best to be hero X, like those are?
Those are?
Speaker 4 (08:52):
It's definitely the best one, the best link link click
and I take I take everything I back said, I
take I take it all back, my bad.
Speaker 3 (08:59):
Every think that that director has done is usually kind
of head and shoulders above the rest, but uh, because
those are all three by the same director. But but
the visuals and a lot of these other shows that
we're getting are beautiful. It's just something about them, like
it's like tough for me to get fully immersed in.
I don't know how to word it or like how
(09:20):
best to verbalize that.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
I feel like it has a lot of good things
going for it, and I hope it gets better and
I start to get more invested because I.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
Kind of it.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
I do agree with you, Jordan. It's like, oh, it
looks beautiful and it has some cool concepts and some
cool characters, Like I should like this, but it's taking me.
I'm struggling to be invested in it, and I think
maybe with more time, hopefully, yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Get any better, you two. I'm just telling you right now,
that's so sad.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
I have heard it doesn't get better. That it probably does.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Yeah, yeah, I have heard, like the role doesn't have
very much plot, armor or anything. Is what people have said.
That's good, which is which is definitely a plus. I
would say the only thing that uh he really had
going for him initially was there was another reincarnated person
that uh that had kind of written stuff down related
(10:12):
to that pathway, and he wrote it in Chinese, right,
so like they're struggling to try to decipher it, but
since he could read Chinese, he was able to just
read it. So I'd say that was like the one
boon that he did have. But aside from that, bro
Bro's has been trying to figure out what the heck's
going on? And I'm kind of right there with him, dude,
how much chaotic crap happens?
Speaker 2 (10:31):
Like you said, Jordan, he basically wakes up in another
person's body in a different world. That person killed themselves,
and a bunch of other people where like he was,
or that individual was the night before, also killed themselves,
and this guy comes in and it's just like what
the hell is going on? Also, there's magical powers in
this world he they they're able to figure out that
(10:53):
he's a different Did they figure out he was a
different person?
Speaker 3 (10:56):
So I don't know that part yet. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
They do know that he's.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
An other other not not another worlder, but like what
do they call it whenever they have the power beyond beyonder?
So they don't know he's another worlder, Like they don't
know that he's like transmigrated or what have you. But
they do know that he's in a beyonder and he
has to choose his pathway and they're beyonders as well, right,
so he's not the only one.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
This show is so dramatic. Sometimes it's so dramatic. Yeah,
I actually do still like it. I do like it,
and I'm excited to watch more re recon. What do
you think or you finished it? Like I'm just.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
Gonna give like my overall thoughts on it and not
spoil too much for you guys, But personally, I think
a lot of people are going to be drawn to
this series, first of all, because it's an Isechai reincarnation
and the genre overall is just super popular, and Chinese
animation these days have had such a high production level
(11:53):
that it's just I can't help but appreciate the more
than normal.
Speaker 1 (11:57):
Japanese anime these days.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
I don't know why.
Speaker 4 (11:59):
It's beautiful to look at, but it is like a
mess and a clutter sort of.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
Because there's just so much going on.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
But you can't really go into this anime without you know,
being hyper.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Focused onto what's going on, because there is.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
Yeah, you gotta lock in you gotta like, Okay, you
gotta like look at every nitty gree details of what's
going on. But there is just so much going on
in this anime, so much terminology and shit being thrown
to the protagonist, and like, at one point he doesn't
know how to use powers or anything, and then in
the next episode he can use those.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
Powers all of a sudden, Like it's like, what the
how the fuck did he know that?
Speaker 4 (12:40):
There's really no explanation at all, which is the show's
biggest problem.
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Like you always have hate, I hate saying this. I
almost feel like I'd rather read this one like just
because I am, like.
Speaker 4 (12:52):
You guys said, there's a lot of show and not Tell,
which is which is for me a big problem in
the show because, like I said, at first, it's kind
of made for people who are already familiar with the
light novel of Lord of Mysteries.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Yeah, it's it's weird because show not Tells usually such
a good thing, but I almost feel like it almost
overdoes it to an extent, right with how quickly it's
trying to go through stuff to where it's like, I
don't know, even being familiar with those concepts, it's like
tough to follow along with right and yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:24):
And it's like some at some points the protagonist doesn't
know what the hell is going on, and next he
becomes this oh mega lord who just knows everything in.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
What's going on. Seem like early on where he ended
up in like the foggy area with and he created
like a table and a chair for him to sit on,
and he brought into other people from the world and
he's like, well, call me the fool. Like you went
from knowing nothing and having like like being like out
of the loop to out of nowhere, having these two
(13:54):
underlings that like fully think you're a god, Like what
is going on?
Speaker 3 (13:58):
I did like that because he really didn't have any
yeah what was going on? And he didn't want to
like give his real name or anything, but he was
just winging it.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
Right.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
The series does have some funny moments. It's like and
it's not even like in your face funny, it's like, uh,
I don't know, very just casually funny like that like
them doing the arm thing. Yeah, I'm not gonna kind
of look like they were they were jacking it, but
it was it was funny as hell.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
So honestly, if you both can continue watching it for sure,
but I mainly finished it just because the visuals really
kept me there. I like looking at it, even though
what the fuck is going on? I just really the animation.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
They had some nice voice voice actors in the dub
as well. I don't get the voice actors.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
No, I haven't.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
I popped it on your reaction while you were watching
the dub, and I was mad at myself for not
walking dub dubs like this sounds so much like it.
It sounded good, it sounded.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Them, it suited them really well. I really appreciated the
dub of Load of Mysteries, and I also want oh,
this is a super random tangent. The main character sisters
names like Melissa Moretti, and she's not Italian. That's not possible.
That's literally not possible, Melissa Moratti, are you kidding me?
So I need to do some research.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
They might not have Italy in this world. Okay, they
might not have Italy.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Actually that's true. It's not like they're from a person
not British. It's Victorian. It looks like it's like a
British setting. But still, I'm ready. It's so funny to me.
And then her brother kline, I like makes sense.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
I do want to say, though watching stuff in Chinese
usually doesn't bother me. I think it's I was just
saying that because this show is so information heavy, right,
like if whatever makes that easier to ingest and follow
along with without having to be like super focused in
on every single episode, you know, I say, go for
it if that helps you out.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
I do think the dub on this one also, like,
don't get me wrong, I think anime Japanese anime dubs
without him better and better without through time. But I
do like the accents and like the way these characters talk,
really fitting the the atmosphere and like the world that
they're in. And I do feel like sometimes sometimes the
(16:08):
anime does it, but a lot of times it's just
like badass character cute girl like you know, like they
have like very typical voices. It doesn't matter what era
they're in or thing in the dub versus in Japanese,
it tends to fit usually a little bit better until
they're trying to do an American accent and then it's terrible.
Speaker 3 (16:29):
Anyway, So I think I would give this one like
like A I don't, I can't. I feel like I
can't give it a five because it looks so pretty,
but like I feel like a five point five for
now and then, uh, just for those first three episodes,
but like I want, I do want to kind of
watch more eventually and see or read more and just
(16:50):
kind of see where it goes, right, because I want
to give it a chance because it just because it
does look so pretty.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
Okay, I'm going to surprise you. I'm going to give
it a seven out of ten for the first three episodes,
despite me not knowing what's going on, I feel like
it did so many things well enough for me to
want to keep watching. So I think the first three succeeded.
And from my perspective without hearing rical on telling me
it doesn't change. But in my perspective, it's like these questions,
these questions will all be answered. I will understand it
(17:19):
going forward, like you might, you might end up blind
with blind yours up. About the first three episodes, I
actually don't have that many complaints.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
I do think by episode two it was probably much
easier to follow, and then it seems like it's doing
repetition on the showing, which is like what gives me
hope for same like for it kind of coming together
and making more sense eventually, especially with how they like
repeat that beginning sequence of the different pathways and stuff
each time. So like, I feel like it's one where
it might not make it clear from the get go,
(17:50):
but I'm hoping it just hammers it into me eventually,
like by the by the midway point.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
Right, So fair, fair Ricin what would you give the
entire show out of ten?
Speaker 4 (18:00):
I'd probably also give it a seven honestly, just like
you do. Just nice, but mainly for visual wise because
it's just pretty. But I'd have to subtract the other
points because I have no idea what that's going on.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
I love the transitions in the show. They had a
lot of creative transitions, like just like a little mouse
running around or something in it.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
Just I don't agree there. There was little things that
they animated that I'm like, I appreciate this. I wish
they did this in anime. M Anyway, let's move on
to the other anime, which when you talk about next.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
Let's do Exit week coolic because oh, just because it's
it's another series where a character is suddenly joining like
a spiritual type of organization, right, we had two of
those this this week in the same week. So he
walks into a shop and then you just kind of
get signed up or and we.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Had we didn't see that the female character in uh
two of the chronicles. So our main character is Keemi
hero and he just walks into place and gets a job.
I wish it was that easy. God damn it, I know,
right and granted person who he didn't became a job
is a fucking milf too.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
Oh my god, Brod, I wanted to talk about that.
Last week you had us watch the U the Yonder
a Dark Elf show, and I'm like, you know what,
I would have appreciated this so much more if I
didn't watch it like the same week as you know,
uh as this show where we had you goo like,
I'm like, this is just like a classic anime wife
who right like.
Speaker 1 (19:26):
You goes Yonder Dark ELFH No, she's not.
Speaker 3 (19:31):
I mean she doesn't.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
But attract characters.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
Were better, right they were? They were. I don't know,
there was just something about that mid two thousands.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Era, right atteractive animators.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
What shitty animation, but shitty animation, but she was hot.
Speaker 2 (19:46):
Youk Ichihara, Oh my goodness, she's on she's on the list.
She's on the list.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
Man, she was in control. I don't know, I like that.
Speaker 2 (19:59):
Anyway, thoughts of the series recon.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
Uh decent.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
I guess I didn't really help that the animation was
a bit on the weaker side, because.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
This was production idea, man, not a bad production idea.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
Not bad though. It's about Kimmi.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
You know, you can like see these spirit creatures around him,
like he has those powers and it's like really bothering him,
and he wants to somehow get rid of it, and
he just walks into a fucking he just goes tries
to get jobs around and walks into a random store,
and then he encounters the beautiful Yuko and she claims
that she can, like I can get rid of these
(20:41):
spirits for you and those all those troublesome creatures, but
you must work in my store. And so yeah, he's like, yeah, sure, okay,
anything as long as he could get that power away
from me.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
So that was that the the like the cause it
was like it had to be something of equal value, right,
it had to balance. Yeah, So in order for her
to remove the spirits, he had to work for her.
But what ended up happening is one of the spirits
I was following him ended up going on to another
girl and plaguing another girl, And was that like was
(21:15):
that her like you go fulfilling the wish in a
way or did it just happen?
Speaker 3 (21:20):
So it is a wish granting shot, but I think
that one just kind of just happened because these spirits
aren't latched onto them, They're just kind of roaming, right,
So it's like things that you know are gonna happen.
It's not like she's necessarily making it happen. It's just
as far as I could tell, things are almost just
kind of faded to be and you can kind of
see the different possibilities of where things are going to
(21:40):
end up. Right. So it's like our main character has
a lot of different potential futures. But like the character
in episode two, right, like the way she lived her life,
there's only so many different ways that was going to go, right.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
So the character in episode two just lied to everyone
and it may create like this dark around her and
stuff like that. And they tried to give her the ring,
but every lie just kept on taking away at that ring.
One of my favorite things though about the series is
the comedy, which is a big contrast to like.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
Talking it's funny, it's creepy, it's dark, it's it's it's
pretty good, it's interesting.
Speaker 3 (22:18):
Yeah, And I think it's one of those things where like,
if you wish hard enough on your future to be
a certain way, it's more likely to be that way.
So he was, you know, really not wanting the spirit
to follow him. But that girl from episode one, you
know she was lying about from episode one, she was
saying that she could see spirits and that she was
haunted by spirits, right, So like she kind of wanted that.
(22:38):
I think that in her life a bit. She wanted
that to be special in that way. And because of that,
the spirit you know, left him and kind of latched
onto her.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
That's a cool perspective. I like that.
Speaker 3 (22:47):
At least that was kind of how it seemed to me.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
I couldn't see the spirits, but one ended up jumping
on her regard.
Speaker 3 (22:53):
But she wanted attention, right, And so she's in there
talking about it.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Yeah, you don't know what it's like seeing spirits.
Speaker 3 (23:00):
Rude as hell? Oh man. The woman in episode two
wasn't much better, Like as soon as she got in
that shop, Like I could tell right away, like that
she was a as soon as like it was on
the pinky that that the stuff was coming out, that
she was just like an impulsive liar. She was just
lying all the time.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
So I didn't catch it immediately. I caught it a
little bit a little bit later.
Speaker 4 (23:22):
They definitely make sure to sell it out twenty four
episodes and a second season. I don't.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
I don't think I'm going to continue.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
That's fair. There's a lot of stuff back in that
era that always had like twenty four episodes for season.
Like I feel like it was more of a like
twenty ten's and on type of thing where the shows
started having twelve episodes more often. Actually, I'm just saying it.
Speaker 4 (23:41):
It has multiple sequels, but these the sequels are like OVAs.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
Yeah, it was a pretty long mango. Like I said,
Cleamp's pretty pretty huge, right. They have a lot of
things that they do, and I think I think I'm
going to In particular, it was like two fourteen chapters.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
I'm dropping a dough.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
I would consider continuing watching it just for Yuko and
then also the comedy. Yeah, it made me laugh. The battle,
it made me laugh a bunch and Yuko is just
like a top wife who.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
I really didn't care about the show at all.
Speaker 4 (24:12):
It was just like, yeah, I'm like watching this with mommy,
but I.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Feel like I never finished clap stuff. But like, if
nothing else, they're fun to like take a peek into
and kind of see what it's all about. Right, it
was a fun little time. Episode two threw me off,
like I didn't expect her to just get the kayed
midway through, right, like, I know, yeah, truck couldn't came
out of nowhere. He was you know, just crazy. And
(24:36):
then uh, like you said, it was more so funny
than anything else. With all the little character interactions. I
thought our main character him being tall, slender clamp design
with the glasses, like he looks like he'd be, you know,
the mature guy that's just calm, cool and collected, but
he was a bit of a goober. And then the
friend he had at school was the guy he didn't
(24:58):
really quite get along with well at school was the
one that was calm, cool, collected, took everything with a
you know, in stride.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
Right, I just realized the voice actor for h.
Speaker 1 (25:09):
What's her name? Uko?
Speaker 4 (25:10):
She did she did loose she did airs of scarlet.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
She did like.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
Quite yeah, if you like the voice, I think the
solids in English, in the in the Japanese. My biggest
complaint was that he had a crush on.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Oh, we're losing a Jordan Jordan's Oh no.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Jordan, get there. He just like you go sitting there
calling him out on it. And I just don't understand
some of these characters. Man, I don't get it.
Speaker 4 (25:45):
I have no idea what you just said because you
cut out. You cut out for five seconds. But it's
oh no, I'm so sorry.
Speaker 3 (25:51):
I was. I was just saying that I don't get
why he had a crush on his uh, his twin
tail classmate. Whenever you goes right there, that's great. Yeah, yeah,
Like I just don't understand these charac So that's my
biggest complaint.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Anyway, let's talk about the weakest. Tamer began actually with
the rate. With the rate the last anime xxx holic,
people were asking, did it age like wine or like
whiskey somewhere in between. I I don't love the animation,
but I'd give it.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
I do like the art style for probably nostalgic reasons,
but like, uh, overall, it was just pretty all right.
I enjoyed it. I'd say probably like a five overall
for me, just based on the first three episodes, and
if I continued watching on my you know, start to
enjoy it more, I'm gonna drop.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
It five out of ten.
Speaker 2 (26:35):
I'll know it. U five point five. I'd rather go
back to watching smartphones. Shut the hell up.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
Five is good for me, recount five is average.
Speaker 2 (26:46):
Okay, this is anyway the weakest Tamer began a journey
to pick up trash and for a relatively slow show
with tons of inner monologue. I kind of enjoyed it.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Let's go.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
This one.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
I told you guys, you'd like this.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
That's best show of the week. Lord of Mysteries still
let's be real.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
You know, visually, visually yes, but like story wise, no, no, no.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
Lord of Mysteries was like a really talented anime that
was just sprinting way too hard, trying to trying to
get to where it's going. This this was an anime
that's kind of knew what it was. It was called
cool Collected. It was just taking its time with a
cool little stride, right like. It was very slow through
those first two episodes, but in a way I don't mind.
And then uh, we actually do get the backstory there
(27:39):
in episode three, So I think three episode rule works
pretty well for this show.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
Take it away, what do you guys think?
Speaker 2 (27:47):
So it covers the story of a young girl named
Ivy and she has no star or no power, so
similar to like in a world like Mashall where you
don't have magic. With no star, she's seen as like
useless and like they want to get rid of her,
which I also always blows my mind. It's like, why
do you want to randomly kill this young child because
(28:08):
they don't have any abilities, there are no threat to you,
just I guess the reaper. They don't want They don't
want them to maybe reproduce and like spread.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
No.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
No, So it seems like marless religious reason if you
are starless.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
If you are starless, they consider you cursed.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
So they want to get rid of you.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
The change up from the family in episode three was crazy,
Like I did not think it would be to that extent,
right the uh we see like she's a daddy's girl
until they find out she's starless, in which case he's like,
that's no daughter of mine. He's suddenly accusing the wife
of us, like are you sure she's my daughter? And
it's like her hair's green, like the same colors. There's
just that's from you man.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
Like they get rid of her because she's starless, and
like they fear bad things will happen because she's cursed.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
She might be cursed.
Speaker 2 (28:52):
So yeah, it was like being a witch back in
the day. It's like like in this world, it's like
if you have if you're not a witch fucking burder.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
Yeah, yeah, it was very much, very much felt like
a witch hunt. I think that's kind of what it was. Uh,
And that's honestly what the the voice in her head
said was like which hunt? Because that, you know, it
felt less like Aniecai more than that she was haunted
by like a Japanese girl, like because she would like
have conversations with that. Yeah, like random references from her head, right,
but uh like like they disagree and she's like, what
(29:22):
are you talking about? What do you mean? Which hunt?
Speaker 2 (29:24):
But I just kept on joking around the entire time.
Once she's found that really small clear slime, I'm like,
this line is gonna fucking dig evolve too, like and
then I'm like I'm like it's alive. Now something's gonna happen.
It starts absorbing things and then having abilities and like, okay,
of course no.
Speaker 3 (29:42):
I actually liked that it wasn't very overpowered like they were, like,
this is a slime that like the wind could kill it,
like and the ability it got like it it sits
there and it eats uh like those healing potions, right,
and then it has some healing properties. But like she
was like knocked out and then like it was able
to healer, but it took a long while, right, Like,
it doesn't feel like an overpowered monster by any means. Yeah,
(30:04):
it still feels like she is the weakest tamer.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
Just wait til is a fucking dinosaur.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
Dude, maybe maybe this could be.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
I'm not gonna spoil I'm not gonna.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
Spoil it, okaycause it doesn't feel like it.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Dude, the slimes that killed the Demon king. For sure.
I did like how weak it was. It was very cute,
very weak, and she cared for it and actually spent
time with it, and everyone else would have just shrugged
it off and it would have just died. It had
the life expectancy people would say of twenty four to
forty eight hours because a small wind would kill it, right,
she stayed with it, slept with it. It ended up
(30:37):
living in her scroll or her bag or something, and
like her having that, like the kindness to care for
it ended up helping her in the future because it
did end up getting stronger slowly. And I do think
in the long run, this slime is the slime that
gets the kaide into the other Slimey Sakai another person. Yeah,
(31:01):
that slime ismo tempest, but then another person into its
body and.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
Then we just yeah, we just went into Lord of
mysteries right where rather THANKI it's uh. I always struggle
struggle with this word whatever it is, the trans thing, Yeah, transfiguration, transputation, whatever,
whatever it is. That's what they did, right, They combined together. Okay,
we're solving the mysteries here, the mysteries of the.
Speaker 2 (31:28):
I think the slime went to that world and then
Rimrou from his other world whatever his name was, went
to that world and they just sharing a body, and
the slime's just crying in a dark hole right now.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
Anyway. I actually quite enjoyed this anime. I'm gonna give
it like a six point five let me give.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
It a solid six. I enjoyed it a lot, so
it was cute. It was like not like an amazing
like not among my favorites, but I would definitely probably
say it's above average for uh, like the way.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
I gave it even an eight for the whole show,
it was.
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Very good, Okay, would you say it like uh? Because
there's a lot of stuff in the opening of like
actually having companions and like them doing stuff. It gets
up after those first.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
It gets a lot better.
Speaker 4 (32:15):
You get to like know a bit more about Ivy's life.
You get to know more about the slime and what's it's,
what it's capable of. She meets me and then trouble
starts happening, and then you got to solve the trouble
and like she and then at some point also she's
gonna go back to her village.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
And then things happened. It's like, it's it's so interesting.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
All right, I might need to keep going on this one.
But it sounds like Briggs was on point. We don't
know what the slime is capable of yet, Okay, I was.
I was kind of hoping he was a weak little thing.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
No, that dude, that slime is gonna be fucking god
pretty soon.
Speaker 3 (32:51):
I figured it was the mascot, you know, it's like
a little Pikachu. Do you think of the.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
I can't wait for the fucking Digimond theme th on
it just to start turning on.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Do you do you guys?
Speaker 4 (33:01):
Do you want me to tell you guys? What the
at least what the slime like? The rarity of the slime.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
Yeah, I'm down. Are you are you against the wait?
Wait wait Jordan, are you okay with him spoiling the
slime's rarity?
Speaker 3 (33:14):
Go for it. I've seen so many it's not gonna slime.
Speaker 4 (33:19):
So a lot of so a lot of characters know
about slimes and ship like that. But this slime in
particular is like super a high quality s rank for
a for a because of course it can do things
no other slime can.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
That's I mean, that makes sense, and I would like
to think that, like the reason it even survived was
because she like put it in her bag and stuff
and it had food to kind of consume, whereas initially
it's probably so weak it's not gonna go get food
on its own or anything like that. Right, Like the
so the wind almost killed it.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Yeah, I could picture being taken out by a light breeze,
one of those things where it's like they exist, but
they don't survive, but they all have They have the
potential to exponential grow and absorb and get stronger throughout time,
but they have to survive the initial time and have
someone in journey with and help them along the way, which.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
I wouldn't mind that. That sounds really cool.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (34:13):
Yeah, cute little show, except it reminds me a little
bit and I think somebody in Chad also said this
of a of a sentence of a bookworm, which was
like in my top five pieces of guys from reading garbage.
I haven't watched the anime for that, but the book's solid.
Speaker 2 (34:29):
So it was a boring start. I didn't give it
much of a fair.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
It's a slow one. It's a very slow burn. But
I like them.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
Any books, anything about books, hell, now, man, I'm out
anything about I'm allergic to.
Speaker 3 (34:44):
I'm addicted to books and manga and all that. I'm
so addicted.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
Anything book related through that, all.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Right, let me find something book related for next week?
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Oh come on, man, you know, yeah, what.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
Do you guys want to watch next week.
Speaker 4 (35:05):
I think I'm going to recommend to you guys the
Daily Life of the Immortal King.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
Okay, I think you've been talking about this one for
for a bit, right? Is this also a Chinese Yes.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
Is a Chinese anime that is extremely popular.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
Gotcha? Gotcha?
Speaker 4 (35:23):
And it has four seasons, I believe in totals.
Speaker 3 (35:28):
Did you ever send you that list?
Speaker 2 (35:29):
I don't think I did. I don't know if I
watched this. I think I thought I did, But there's
so many Immortal King.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
No, you haven't watched this because it's Chinese.
Speaker 3 (35:41):
I haven't watched. That's very similar to where.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
I watch an immortal anime on Netflix and it looks familiar. Whatever.
We'll find out when I go to go to watch it.
O Mortal, something else? Immortal?
Speaker 3 (35:58):
All right?
Speaker 4 (36:00):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (36:00):
I don't known you.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
Want me to send you the list?
Speaker 4 (36:03):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Yeah, I send it to me for next time. For
this time, I'll just go ahead and recommend one where
main character is an author that writes manga, so he's
a mangica. It's called Kokushi Goto, so it's relatively new.
It came out in twenty twenty, so uh who Kakushi? Yeah,
Kakushi Goto what was how you pronounce a lot of
(36:24):
work playing it?
Speaker 2 (36:25):
What was that manga one that you recommended me a
long time ago that I really liked, blakum On or
Blachomon that was great.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
Yeah, that one's by the authors of of Death Note
and stuff. Same duo that that did that. So they
wrote a manga about, you know, amonga author duos.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
But anyway, I'm going to recommend Requiem of of Rose King.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
Requreem of Rose King.
Speaker 2 (36:51):
I haven't seen it either.
Speaker 3 (36:53):
This one sounds fancy.
Speaker 4 (36:54):
Uh, I thought, are you going to say Raccoon for
the Phantom?
Speaker 3 (37:00):
I've seen that a good good show?
Speaker 4 (37:01):
Yeah, good show?
Speaker 3 (37:05):
Oh god break okay. Twenty twenty two, Oh it's new.
What is it called Requiem of the Rose King?
Speaker 1 (37:13):
Recreem?
Speaker 2 (37:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (37:15):
Yeah, how do you pronounce that you just did for
recreem for the Requiem?
Speaker 4 (37:22):
No requiem, Requiem for the fans?
Speaker 1 (37:24):
Is it requiem or requem?
Speaker 2 (37:27):
I've always said, when did it come out?
Speaker 3 (37:33):
Twenty twenty two? I think right, mm hmm, January the June.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
Twenty thirty, October fifteen original run.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
I've seen this. I've seen this. I've seen this.
Speaker 4 (37:46):
It's I've seen this.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
It's so fucking average Recordeum of the Rose King, Right.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
Yeah, I've seen it. It's average.
Speaker 2 (37:57):
I just I'm like, why did this twenty two?
Speaker 1 (38:02):
It's very average?
Speaker 2 (38:05):
All right, I'll find something else to recommend. Let's watch
Romantic Killer.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
Wait, why are you finding something else?
Speaker 1 (38:11):
Seen it?
Speaker 2 (38:11):
Because I already you see Romantic Killer too. Yeah, okay,
we're watching on the Rose King.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
Then we can't seen everything. If you recommend twenty twelve
or after.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
I've seen a Romantic Killer on Netflix, it was it was,
it was solid.
Speaker 2 (38:26):
Okay, so that's a lot of Romantic Killer.
Speaker 4 (38:27):
Then, honestly, between those two Briggs, I would I would
suggest a Romantic Killer.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
I love that. I'm it's it's tough. It's either I
annoy recall with something he's gonna hate, or I pick
something new that he's already seen.
Speaker 4 (38:41):
If you recommend anything from like the previous year's guaranteed
I've watched it.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
There's very little chance I would say no to that.
Speaker 2 (38:52):
Did you ever finish Ping Pong Jordan?
Speaker 3 (38:54):
I have not yet. I did finish. I need to
go back and finish Ping Pong Ping Pong.
Speaker 4 (38:58):
So good.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
I just prayer because I was midway through it and
I'm like, if I don't finish this now, I'm I'm
gonna forget what was going on.
Speaker 2 (39:06):
Recon it's so good. I'm telling you, if you gave
it more time and watch what I know, it's so good. No,
it's literally probably my top twenty favorite anime of all time.
Speaker 3 (39:16):
I will finish, though, don't mark my words, mark my words.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
This guy, he doesn't get it.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
We have Romantic Killer, Cagushi Goto, and then, uh, what
was Recon's again? Just the Daily Life of the Immortal King,
Daily Life of the Immortal King. Okay, Daily Life of
the Immortal King. Good luck finding that everybody there. There's
gonna be twenty million of them, but we know which
one to watch.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
I swear I watched it episode something on Netflix and
it was like a mortal something with a mortal in it,
and it was dude, I can't remember.
Speaker 4 (39:52):
I don't think Daily, I don't think the Immortal, I
don't think the I don't think it's on Netflix. I
haven't seen it.
Speaker 2 (39:57):
I think it had that same name. I swear it
had that same name, but I look at the pictures
and I don't remember this at all.
Speaker 3 (40:05):
So there's one I ended up dropping that uh was
called Let's see if I can find it. The Misfit
of Demon King Academy. No, no, yeah, the history is strongest.
The Demon King reincarnates and goes to school with his descendants.
I say, sort of that one, and that's what I
think of. I feel like every time people say a
(40:25):
show like that. But but I know they're all different,
all the shows very very similar. But I say that
this might not be anisa guy, I have no idea.
Is it sad? I just assume it's Anisaki. I don't
think it is.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
No, it's the one I recommend it.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
It's not it's not any Nope, they all live in
the world.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
That's a sad assumption on my part.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
Okay, In the daily life of the Immortal King, is
there a scene where they go to like another school
and they have to fight against like other students.
Speaker 3 (40:57):
That's every anime ever breaks What do you talked about?
Speaker 2 (40:59):
Is yeah, it doesn't happen in this one or no.
Speaker 4 (41:05):
Yeah, there's a lot of battle between students and ship.
Speaker 2 (41:07):
Yeah. I might have seen it. Guys, I might have, did.
Speaker 3 (41:11):
You you don't remember it?
Speaker 2 (41:14):
Basically, I think it was one of those ones I
threw on Netflix like before bed. Yeah, like, this is ridiculous,
like the Overpowered MC. It was just it was so ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (41:27):
Yeah, the protagonist is extremely overpowered.
Speaker 1 (41:30):
He's basically a demon lord.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
Yeah yeah, all right, m it's also every anime ever yep,
just like the anime ever.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
All right, I think we got our three.
Speaker 2 (41:45):
This guy does not look familiar at all, like at all, Like,
I know I've watched his show, but nothing, no one
looks familiar, Like how did I forget everything? It's been
like wipe for my memory.
Speaker 3 (41:54):
Are you sure it's the same show or are you
thinking of instead of ling?
Speaker 4 (41:59):
Wang, I'm typing Immortal Immortal King on mal and I'm
just seeing the daily off of the Immortal King.
Speaker 1 (42:07):
There is no other Immortal King.
Speaker 2 (42:09):
I mean, I'll find out, Chat, I'll find out. We're
watching it. We're watching it right now anyway, guys. I
hope you guys enjoy it. I hope you, oh my god,
enjoyed the Rank Cafe. Next week we're watching the anime
we just talked about. As for the day, we'll have
to figure it out and play by ear as usual.
Chim pocke you and I'll see you all next time.
Speaker 4 (42:30):
Wang,
