Welcome to Getting Real, where we dive deep into the real, raw, and sometimes messy truths about building wealth, freedom, and a life aligned with your soul. I’m your host, Monick Halm. Today, we're exploring something close to my heart—legacy wealth.
When you hear the word legacy, what comes up for you? Maybe it feels distant—something for later, when you have more money or more time. But here's the truth: legacy isn’t just what you leave behind—it’s how you live today. It’s the financial freedom you create for yourself and others, the values you embody, the love, wisdom, and opportunities you pass on right now.
This episode is about building legacy wealth in a feminine, aligned way—with heart, values, and purpose. The world doesn’t just need more wealthy people. It needs people with wealth and wisdom. And when women own their power, they uplift everyone around them.
I want to share a story. Years ago, a speaker at an event asked us to imagine three generations from now—our great-great-grandchildren sitting around a table, talking about us. What would they say? Would they talk about the house you left them—or the courage you modeled? The bank accounts—or the belief you passed down that they could do anything?
That hit home for me. Legacy isn’t just about numbers. It’s about values. Yes, we want to close the wealth gap and build financial freedom, but it’s also about why we do it.
Wealth without purpose can disappear. But wealth infused with why—with meaning—can last generations. For me, legacy is showing my children, and every woman I work with, that financial freedom is possible. Joy is our birthright. Power is something we can claim and share.
Over the next decade, $30 trillion will transfer into the hands of women. That’s a staggering number! To put it in perspective:
1 million seconds = 12 days
1 billion seconds = 31 years
1 trillion seconds = 31,688 years
We’re talking 30 trillion dollars. But wealth without confidence, without conversations, without support, often goes unused or is lost.
I’ve worked with women like Sarah, who inherited money but was paralyzed by fear because no one taught her how to manage it. She sat on it, afraid to invest, afraid to grow it. Contrast that with Julia, who started with little, learned to invest, and created financial freedom—teaching her kids to do the same. That’s the power of these conversations.
Assets: Real estate, businesses, investments that grow over time. These income streams flow with or without you.
Education: This is the multiplier. Pass down knowledge, not just money. Teach your kids and your community how to steward wealth. Money without wisdom fades.
Impact: Where your heart meets your wealth. What causes light you up? Legacy wealth isn’t just about accumulating—it’s about amplifying. Money, like power, amplifies who you already are. As Mother Teresa said, “It takes a checkbook to change the world.”
Legacy building starts now. You don’t need everything figured out. You just need to take one small step today. Action breeds confidence.
For me, that first step was saying yes to buying my first property—even though it was scary. I wasn’t taught about passive income or investing. But I bought a multi-unit property in LA, lived in one unit, and rented out the others. That was my first asset, and it grew from there.
I learned more, scaled up with my husband, and eventually started Real Estate Investor Goddesses to help other women create legacies too. Empowering women creates ripple effects—because when a woman is empowe
