(00:00):
Sometimes life just lives.
You have things that come uplike the kids getting sick,
unexpected meeting, or maybethat meeting went way too long
and it wasn't how you initiallyplanned it.
Maybe it's getting some newsthat has gotten your mind going
all over the place.
Whatever it is, these challengescome up.
(00:22):
And even though I talk a lotabout routines and being
prepared and planning out yourweek, Life happens.
So how do you handle thechallenges that come up?
That caused you to have toreroute your schedule.
Well, that's what we're going totalk about today.
Hey there.

their time.

Ways to handle challenges thatderail your schedule.

(01:04):
and your brain just won'tcooperate.

magic mine.

focus.
No matter how hectic life gets.

that help me stay productivewithout the jitters or the crash
(01:26):
I get from drinking.
Several cups of coffee.
For me, it's like having alittle focus very on my
shoulder, whether I'm navigatinga full schedule of patients,
brainstorming podcast ideas forreal happy mom, or just trying
to keep up with the kids' energyafter a long day.
Magic mind keeps me in the zone.
And the best part.
(01:47):
It works fast and I don't needto rely on endless cups of
coffee.

day.

(02:12):
So recently I had a situationthat came up that through my
schedule composed.
Lee off.
And I feel like I handled itpretty well.
There have been many times thatI can look back and say, I did
not do that well, but this timeI did.
And I wanted to share with you acouple of things, because I know
I am not a unicorn when it comesto having.
(02:34):
Challenges that throw yourschedule off.
So the first thing is to juststop and acknowledge.
What is going on.
You can start by saying like, okay, the kid is sick.
And there's nothing that you canreally do about it.
I always say that.
I like to think that, um, thelawyer, his little cousin and I
(02:56):
live in Asgard and I'm a DemiGod, but I'm actually a human.
And I can't always show up likea superwoman.
And that's okay.
So give yourself some grace andjust accept that life happens.
Like I said, the kids make itsick.
You may have an unplanned event.
You get stuck in traffic.
(03:18):
Whatever it is, life happens.
The next, you went toreprioritize things.
And this is really importantbecause a lot of times we have
things that per our schedule offand we want to continue on,
like, we can do what weinitially set out to do for the
today.
But that's not always the case.
(03:38):
And probably won't be the casebecause there's going to be
issue with either time or focusso that you won't be able to.
Complete your scheduled the wayyou initially planned it.
So stop by reprioritizing andreassessing your schedule and
identifying the top things thatyou have to get done.
(03:58):
So for instance, I was at theend of the day, I was trying to
hustle to get dinner completed, but for some reason I was just
struggling with getting thesetacos ready.
If you are like me.
You have many toppings for yourtacos?
I don't just have like three orfour.
I had like 10 or 15.
And so it gets to be a lot kindof getting everything prepared,
(04:20):
chopped and ready.
So I noticed I was taking alittle bit of time and then I
was trying to close the blind.
And the string on the blindsbroke.
At this point, I'm like, oh mygoodness, it's going to take me
another like 15 minutes to takethe blinds down because I'm
short in.
I have to get a special tool to.
Release the blinds and thenactually just stringing
(04:42):
everything through a tiny.
All that.
I knew it was going to take me along time.
So what my husband did wasremind me.
You don't have time for that.
Focus on what you're doing rightnow.
And he just threw up a blanketover the blinds and said, you
can take care of that later.
And that's the same thing foryou.
What is something that's comingup that you're like, oh, I need
(05:03):
to take care of this, but youcan really put that off and take
care of it later.
So reassess, like what you havegoing on.
And look and see what isactually the priority that you
need to get done.
And then focus on that.
And if you need help withprioritizing, there is a podcast
episode.
That can help you with that.
Make sure to check out episode 237, where I share five ways to
(05:26):
prioritize your to-do list.
If you need help with gettingyour priorities straight.
Um, next, you want to stayflexible with your routines.
I talk a lot about routines andI have routines that really
helped me with managing my dayso that I can keep my stress
levels down as well as makingsure I'm getting things done.
(05:48):
But sometimes you won't be ableto do your routines exactly the
way that you're used to doing.
And that is totally okay.
Routines are meant to be.
Flexible and adaptable.
They're not hard and set rulesthat you have to follow.
So give yourself some grace.
And be flexible with yourroutines so that you can
(06:10):
continue throughout your day andyour week, even with the
challenges that come up.
Next you really want to leaninto systems and one tool that I
have that helps me with thesesystems is Trello.
And I talk a lot about cello, but having different Trello
boards that have systems inplace.
(06:32):
Help me to really make sure thatI'm not overlooking things
because a lot of times we thinklike, okay, I don't need to do
this right now, but it'sactually a task that is
essential to help you withwhatever you need to do next,
but you just don't see it in themoment.
So really lean into whatever waythat you keep track of things so
(06:52):
that you can get things done.
And.
Really see what can actuallywait versus what needs your
attention.
Right.
Right now.
So Trello is a tool that reallyhelps me with this and helps me
to stay focused and streamlined.
And also keeps those systems inplace.
(07:13):
Lastly, you want to really shiftyour mindset.
On how things are going for you.
And you really want to focusyour attention and your energy
on progress over perfection.
And I know this is easier saidthan done, but just know that
setbacks don't define who youare or how your week is going to
(07:35):
go.
Even if you have things thatcome up in your schedule, you
can still have an awesome day,an awesome week, even when
things don't go as planned.
So just remind yourself.
You just need to make progress.
You don't have to be perfect.
And you can still get thingsdone.
And have a great day and greatweek.
(07:56):
So those are the things thatI've found helpful when it comes
to challenges that derail yourschedule, make you have to
reroute your schedule and canthrow things off for you.
So that is all that I have foryou today for this particular
episode, I hope that you havefound it helpful.
Definitely make sure to staytuned for next week.
(08:16):
For another full episode, I willsee you then take care and with
lots of love.
