behind, or maybe your to-do listis chasing you instead of the
other way around?
Well, guess what?
You're in luck.
I'm gonna be sharing with youhow to create a no fail weekly
reset routine that is gonna helpyou even if you're weak, starts
(00:28):
off feeling like survival mode.
You'll be feeling like you're ontop.
Hey there, it's Tony Ann fromThe Real Happy Mom Podcast.
The podcast for busy workingmoms who need more time and help
with achieving their big goalswithout pulling their hair out.
(00:50):
I'm gonna be sharing with you myno fail formula, the reset
formula to help you reset forthe week, even if you're feeling
behind.
So I know the feeling you aregetting ready on Sunday for
Monday morning, and you realizethat not only have you forgotten
(01:13):
to sign the permission slip, youdon't have dinner ready,
everyone is up late.
It is a mess and you're alreadyfeeling behind and it's still
Sunday night.
I want you to know that you'renot alone and that there are
things that you can do to helpto reset, and even if it's just
something simple so that you canfeel calmer and less reactive
(01:39):
during your days and week.
And I will tell you, having aweekly reset routine doesn't
mean doing more.
It's not about putting morethings on your plate, but
setting up your week so that itruns smoother.
And this weekly reset routine isone that's gonna have you to be
more intentional instead ofconstantly playing.
(02:00):
Catch up.
Think of it like clearing outthe digital tabs in your brain
so that you can focus more.
'cause if you're like me, yougot a million tabs running in
the background.
I want to break down what aweekly reset actually is, why it
works, and how you can create aversion that won't fall apart
after two weeks, because let'sjust be real.
(02:22):
That usually happens, especiallywhen we're starting something
new.
So whether you've got 15 minutesor a whole hour, I'm gonna give
you a simple formula to help youreset your week without burning
out.
So first up, what is a weeklyreset routine?
So I would say there are fivecore things that make up a
(02:42):
weekly reset routine.
Number one, it's something thatis simple and that is gonna help
you to start the week fresh.
This weekly reset routine issomething that should be short
and intentional.
During a certain block of timethat you usually do once a week
is where you're gonna pause, reflect, and reset for the key
(03:03):
areas of your life.
Think of it like a mini homelife tuneup.
Um, this is gonna help to startyour week so that you're feeling
prepared and not panicked.
Number two, it's a routinethat's not about perfection or
productivity overload.
It's not about a full springcleaning or two hour planning
(03:24):
session.
It's not about gettingeverything done.
It's about setting yourself upfor less stress.
The goal of this routine is tohelp reduce the mental clutter
and create some clarity and calmduring your week.
Number three, it's gonna be aroutine that helps you move from
being reactive to beingintentional.
(03:47):
I know this is.
Really becoming, my word for theyear is just being more
intentional.
So without a reset, you'll findthat your week often starts
playing catch up, and thisweekly reset routine is gonna
help give you the space torespond to life instead of just
reacting to everything thatcomes flying your way.
(04:08):
Having a weekly reset routine isgoing to allow you to go into
Monday knowing what's coming up,what matters the most, and where
your energy should go.
Number four is that it targetsthe areas that create the most
chaos, and I will be honest withyou, there are times when I have
(04:29):
found there are seasons that thecalendar is like.
Confusing for me and my family.
Like, wait a minute, when did weschedule a dentist appointment?
Or When did you decide that youwere going to go outta town?
Like I don't remember all ofthat.
So it helps to clear up all ofthat.
Or maybe it's some last minutedinner decisions so you don't
(04:52):
have to hear, what are we goingto eat for dinner tonight?
I know that is like the questionthat drives me bonkers.
It also helps to clear out theclutter that is draining your
energy.
Um, you know, like the kitchencounter that seems to pile up
with all of the things, or maybeit's feeling like you have no
time for yourself.
So this weekly reset is gonnahit.
(05:14):
All of these different things.
And then lastly, the weeklyreset is going to help you stay
consistent without burning out, because the magic in this
routine is not intensity.
It's just about 20, 30 minutesmax to reset.
That will help you todramatically shift your week.
And when it's done regularly, ithelps to build momentum and make
(05:38):
life feel more manageable andjust a little bit easier.
So let's talk about why momsstruggle to keep up with this
weekly reset routine.
I'll be honest with you, thenumber one thing that I have
seen and I have had others onthe podcast talk about is the
all or nothing mindset.
(06:00):
Many moms feel like they can'tfully reset perfectly, and if
they can't do it perfectly, it'snot worth.
Doing it at all.
Like I missed one Sunday, sowhat's the point?
And so that leads to skipping itall together, but I just wanna
remind you that even a partialreset is better than nothing at
all.
And it's all about progress, notperfection.
(06:24):
The second big struggle that Isee is trying to copy what
someone else is doing.
You know, we see the Pinterestperfect reset with color coded
planners, and it takes aboutthree hours, but that is not
realistic for most moms.
Um, what works for.
A mom that is staying at homeversus a mom that's working from
(06:47):
home is totally different.
And when a routine doesn't fit,it becomes a chore instead of
support.
Number three is not knowing whatactually needs resetting.
So I have found that a lot ofthe overwhelm sets in because
moms don't have a clear idea ofwhat to focus on.
(07:10):
So.
You'll find that you may bestruggling with needing to meal
prep versus cleaning the wholehouse, versus playing out your
outfits and setting goals likewhich one comes first, but
without a structure or achecklist, it's easy to feel
stuck before you start.
(07:31):
And then one last one.
There's many others, but I'mgonna do one last one here is
that, um, mom tend to overcomplicate it.
You're trying to do too much.
I know you wanna do all of it,but you're doing too much in one
sitting, you're trying to mailprep for the week.
Deep, clean batch emails, organize the pantry and put away
laundry all at the same time.
(07:52):
It's just not gonna work.
This only leads to burnout,resentment.
And eventually you're justgiving up.
So this is why I have this nofail reset, so this No Fail
Formula is the acronym reset,R-E-S-E-T.
The R in reset is repeat weekly.
(08:16):
You want to choose a time thatworks for you, whether it be
Sunday evening.
I know that's a great time, butit is completely optional.
Maybe it is Friday afternoonbecause I know I used to have
Fridays off, and Fridays used tobe my day to reset.
Maybe it's on Monday morningwhen everything is calm, after
(08:37):
the kids have gone to school, whatever day or time it is, just
pick a time that you can committo most weeks because
consistency is better thanperfection.
Then the E and the reset formulais.
Enjoying the process.
You wanna make it enjoyable.
(08:57):
If you can light a candle, puton your favorite playlist or
podcast, Hey, they're realhappy, mom, I see you.
Maybe it is pouring a cup of teaor maybe making a fun mocktail
to sip on while you reset.
Pairing your reset routine withsomething fun, will likely turn
it into a vibe, not a chore.
(09:20):
The S in RESET is make it shortand sweet.
You want something that is gonnabe doable, not something that's
gonna take hours.
So you want to aim for 30 to 45minutes max, because if you have
a busy week, you want somethingthat you can do quickly.
Even if it's a mini reset thattakes 15 minutes.
(09:42):
Something that.
It consists of reviewing yourcalendar, picking out three
meals and tidying up one spot.
This makes things doable everyweek, no matter how crazy life
feels.
E in reset is equipped yourself, whether it be using a checklist,
a Trello board, a timer,whatever it is.
(10:04):
I love myself a Trello board, but a simple checklist is
something that is gonna helpkeep you focused and save you
brain power.
And if you're like me and youlove Trello, you can drag and
drop some weekly reset templateson your Trello board and even
put a checklist inside, or youcan use a timer to help you keep
(10:27):
moving.
Um, I know one guest had talkedabout beating the clock so you
can beat the clock so that youare getting things done, but in
a low energy state.
And lastly, the T and RESET isteam effort.
You wanna involve the family ifyou want, but.
(10:49):
I will tell you, you definitelywanna get some help.
Um, given the small kids, um,especially the little ones, um,
reset jobs like cleaning outtheir backpacks or restocking
snacks, or maybe it is justmoving papers to a different
location.
This all helps to make Sundaynight a tradition that everyone
(11:09):
pitches in for just a fewminutes and helps to get things
reset.
This helps to take the pressureall off of you and also helps to
teach some good habits early on.
So remember this reset routinedoesn't have to be complicated.
Remember, the RESET stands forrepeat weekly.
Enjoy the process, keep it shortand sweet, equip yourself, and
(11:32):
then involve the team, which isyour family.
Including these different thingswill make it so that you're.
Weekly reset routine is gonnahelp you to have an even better
week and make things even easierfor you.
And remember, progress overperfection.
And I encourage you to juststart with just one simple
thing.
(11:52):
It could be focusing on themeals, maybe it is focusing on
the calendar.
Whatever it is, pick one thing, focus on that.
Get that thing all squared awayand you can add things on as you
move along.
So please join me back againnext week for another full
episode.
I hope you've enjoyed this one,and I hope your reset routine is
(12:16):
awesome.
Take care, and with lots oflove.
