Welcome to our presentation, theEssential First Step for
Squashing Overwhelm.
I'm Alicia Cohen, and I'm soexcited that you are listening
to my presentation here.
As a productivity expert and amom of three, I know firsthand
how life can feel overwhelmingwhen you're juggling so many
responsibilities in my own life,in the past, I've experienced

that dreaded hamster wheelmarathon.
You know, where you're workingharder and harder, but never
feel like you're actually makingany progress.
And today I wanna share theessential first step to
squashing overwhelm and breakingfree from that hamster wheel
marathon cycle.
But first, real quick, a littleabout me personally.
I'm married to my wonderfulhusband, and as I mentioned, we

have three awesome kids.
We are a homeschool family, andsome things I like to do for fun
include doing jigsaw puzzles.
Crocheting going on family walksand listening to nonfiction
audio books.
Okay, now let's dive into thispowerful concept, this essential
first step, and explore how youcan start living with less

(02:27):
overwhelm and more intention andpurpose today.
So let me ask you, have you everfelt like you are stuck on what
I call the hamster wheelmarathon?
I mentioned that I used tostruggle with this, but how
about you?
Are you currently there?
Are you constantly busy?

(02:47):
Always pushing, yet no matterhow hard you try, it feels like
you're not getting anywhere.
Maybe you feel like life isrunning you instead of the other
way around, or perhaps you'retrying to stay productive, but
the chaos and the overwhelm justmake it feel impossible.
If any of this resonates withyou, I want you to know that

you're not alone, and moreimportantly, there is a way to
change this.
So what's the essential firststep as the title of this
presentation says?
It is understanding your seasonof life, like in a super clear

(03:29):
and super applicable way.
I also call this.
Syncing your season, so whereyou use this information about
your season to inform and synceverything else for how you
manage your life.
Here's what we'll cover today,first.

(03:51):
Just to make sure that we're onthe same page, I'll explain what
a season really is, what I meanby this, and also why
understanding yours is soessential for productivity and
intentional living.
Then we'll walk through areflection process to help you
identify your current season.
Because season clarity is thefoundation for everything else.

And finally, I'll sharepractical, actionable steps you
can take to simplify your lifeand align your priorities with
your season.
So I.
When I talk about a season, I'mnot referring to a winter,
spring, summer and fall.
Although when talking about yourpersonal season, this can

(04:34):
certainly play into it, butthere's way more to it than
this.
So a personal season.
Is a unique period of your lifedefined by key responsibilities,
challenges, or themes.
Again, a unique period of yourlife defined by key
responsibilities, challenges, orthemes.

(04:58):
For example, you might be in anew baby season where your
priorities are focused onadjusting to life with your new
little one or.
Maybe you are in a career pivotseason where you're working hard
to establish yourself in a newrole.

(05:18):
Or on the other hand, you couldbe in a season of caregiving,
supporting an aging parent orfamily member and finding that
this takes most of your energyand your time.
Your season is shaped by what'shappening in your life right
now, and also perhaps by whatjust happened in your life or by

(05:40):
what is about to happen.
Seasons are dynamic.
They evolve and change overtime.
And understanding your currentseason is the first step toward
living intentionally because ithelps you align your focus and
priorities with what.
Truly matters right now.
It's important that you makethis into a repeatable process

(06:01):
in your life so that you cancontinually evaluate and
reevaluate what is going on withyour season so that you can
create your life in a way thatworks best and feels the best
for you.
Now.
You don't have to pay attentionto your season.
You can keep going on autopilotand live your life without

(06:22):
reflecting on your season.
But if you wanna live well, ifyou wanna focus on what truly
matters and stop spinning yourwheels, then getting clear on
your season is the essentialfirst step, what I call step
zero.
It's the foundation foreverything else when you know
your season.
It informs everything you do.

(06:43):
It's a small shift in how youthink about it, but it really
makes a huge, huge difference.
Okay, so now why is it soimportant to know your season?
I just started touching on thisa little bit, but to keep
expanding on this.
If you are not clear on yourseason, it's easy to keep

(07:07):
spinning your wheels workingharder and harder, but never
feeling like you're gettinganywhere.
When you are clear about yourseason, you can avoid burnout.
You can avoid overwhelm becauseyou are no longer trying to do
it all.
You are operating from a placeof being informed about your
season and wisely makingdecisions from this place.

(07:30):
So here.
You focus on what truly mattersmost, both in what you need to
do and also in what you want todo.
Being clear on your season alsoallows you to live intentionally
and purposefully because you canalign your decisions,
commitments, time and energywith your current reality rather

(07:53):
than feeling like you'reconstantly fighting against it.
You make a really importantshift to start running your life
instead of letting life run you,and this all starts with
reflection.
So let's talk about that now.
One of the most powerful toolsfor becoming and being season

(08:16):
aware is reflection.
Reflection is where the magichappens.
It's really the key to clarity.
Let me give you an example.
Imagine you're in a season wherework has taken over and
everything else feels like it'son the back burner.
By pausing to reflect, you mightrealize you've been saying yes

(08:37):
to too many projects and leavinglittle time for yourself or your
family.
This insight allows you to makeintentional changes like
delegating tasks or settingclearer boundaries.
And, and that's how you are ableto use reflection to make
powerful differences in your ownlife.

(08:59):
Reflection might feeluncomfortable at first, but it's
how you gain those aha momentsthat help you move forward.
So take the time to ask yourselfwhat's working, what's not, and
what can I do differently?
Now I know what you might bethinking, you might be thinking,
but Alicia.

(09:19):
I'm too busy to sit down andreflect and trust me, I get it.
But here's the thing, if you'refeeling too busy, that's exactly
why you need this reflectionhelps you gain those insights
and realizations that, again,allow you to move forward with
intention.

(09:40):
It's where you ask yourself thetough but necessary questions
like.
How's this current seasonworking for me?
Am I enjoying it?
Is this where I want to stay?
These questions, again, theymight feel uncomfortable, but
they're incredibly powerful andthe answers are really quite

(10:01):
worth it.
As I've said, reflection is thekey to clarity and season
awareness, and it's where youcan identify what truly matters
to you.
And when you take time toreflect, that's the way that you
can begin to break free from thehamster wheel marathon and start

(10:21):
making intentional choices thatalign with your current season,
all because of reflecting.
So let's start this reflectionprocess for you right now.
So to identify your currentseason.
I want you to start byreflecting on these key
questions First, what'scurrently on your plate?

(10:45):
Take a moment to brain dumpeverything that's demanding your
time and your energy and yourattention.
And do take the time to write itdown, because seeing it all laid
out in front of you can bereally quite eye-opening.
Okay, and then next I want youto ask yourself.
What truly matters to me.

(11:06):
So what truly matters to you?
What are your priorities rightnow?
What's important to you?
This helps you distinguishbetween what's essential and
what might just be cluttering upyour life.
And then take an honest look.
At how you are really doing.
Ask yourself, how am I reallydoing?

(11:28):
Are you thriving, survivingsomewhere in between?
How are you really?
And then finally, ask yourselfthis question.
If you had a magic wand, whatwould you change about your life
or current situation?
Let's talk more about this magicwand question, for example.

(11:50):
Imagine that you did have thismagic wand and you could change
anything.
Maybe you'd have a spotlesshouse without lifting a finger,
or perhaps you'd have more timeto spend with your kids free
from distractions.
These magic wand wishes revealwhat you're craving right now,
and once you recognize them, youcan ask.

(12:10):
Hmm, is there a small step?
I can take to make this happen.
For instance, you could hire acleaning service once a month or
set aside focused family timeevery Saturday.
Even small changes can help youfeel more aligned with your
season.
And the magic wand questionoften reveals these actionable

(12:33):
steps that you can take.
So after you've answered thesefour questions.
What do you notice about yourcurrent season?
What patterns do you see?
What are the features or thehallmark characteristics of your
current season?
See if you can identify three tofive things that are really the

(12:53):
core of what's comprising yourseason right now.
So take some time to do this,and when you're ready, then move
on to the next slide.
