(01:05):
gonna work for you.
So you can go ahead and grab itat realhappymom.com/moretime.
Now let's help you get moretime, more peace, and more
control starting today.
I am so excited to share withyou a routine that is gonna
lower your stress levels thisweek and make you more

(01:26):
productive, and possibly evenmake you feel like a supermom by
the end of the week.
And if you have a million thingsto do, your schedule is feeling
chaotic or you're exhausted, this is a great resource for
you.
I'm excited to present to youthe family centered Sunday
routine that I know will helpyou have a smoother week and get

(01:46):
your family organized so thatyou can be more effective at
home and outside of the home.
So in this presentation, we aregonna cover the importance of
routines because sometimespeople feel like routines are
restrictive, and I want to helpyou see that they are actually
helping you instead ofrestricting you.

(02:07):
The next we're gonna cover whyit's important to get the family
involved.
And then lastly, we'll cover myfive steps Sunday routine.
That will set you up for an.
Awesome week.
Now, a quick note, even though Iam saying Sunday routine, this
routine doesn't have to be onSunday.
This routine can take placeduring any period of time when

(02:30):
you are trying to reset or getready for the week.
So I know there was a period oftime when I was actually doing
this routine on Fridays, andthat was because of how my work
week was going on.
So.
I just wanna make sure that youare taking care of these things
before you actually start yourweek, whenever your week starts.
So I'm a really big believerthat routines will help you with

(02:54):
having a smoother day and asmoother week.
And in particular, this Sundayroutine is gonna help with just
that.
And I know this because of myown experience with helping moms
with their routines, and I wantto share with you why we
actually need a Sunday routines.
Now having a routine will allowyou to cut down on feeling

(03:14):
overwhelmed because you'reactually prepared and have a
plan in place.
Having this Sunday routine isgonna help you to eliminate
decision fatigue, and if you arenot familiar with decision
fatigue, it's when you arementally exhausted for making
decisions.
And the problem with decisionfatigue is that one of two
things happens.

(03:35):
Either you don't make decisionsat all or you're making really
bad decisions.
So to prevent you from gettingto that point where you have
decision fatigue and you wantto, um, just kind of throw in
the towel and give up, you wantto prepare things in advance so
you don't have to use up so muchof that brainpower to think
about things.

(03:57):
I.
Also having a routine doesn'trequire that extra brain power
and doesn't I.
Because routines don't requireas much brainpower.
You can move through your taskwithout thinking about what's

(04:19):
next.
So this helps to reduce thatoverwhelm that you feel during
the week.
This makes life a whole loteasier and saves you precious
time and guesswork out of howyou're gonna get things done.
Plus, you'll actually feel asense of calm and control
instead of feeling overwhelmedwhen you have a routine in
place.

(04:40):
Also having a Sunday routineprepares you for the week, so
you're setting yourself up forsuccess so that you can go into
the week ready to go and feelingaccomplished.
Now, I used to do this Sundayroutine by myself, but I have
learned that involving thefamily makes it even better.
And getting the family involveddoes a couple of things.

(05:02):
One, it does allow the.
Family to come together as ateam and invoke that teamwork
spirit with amongst the family.
It also helps teach the kidsabout responsibility because a
lot of times I know myself, Iwill tend to do things for
everyone instead of allowingthem to have the responsibility

(05:23):
to do different things and beresponsible for themselves.
So, uh, this routine and gettingthe family involved in this
routine will help.
With allowing them to have moreresponsibility.
And then lastly, it helps tolighten up the load and the real
person is lighting up the loadfor is you because you're not
having to do everything foreverybody because everyone is

(05:46):
taking part in this Sundayroutine.
So if we haven't met yet, I amTony.
Hello.
I am a full-time dentistreservist in the Navy and the
creator of Real Happy Mom, thepodcast and platform to help
busy working moms to get moretime and achieve their big goals
without pulling their hair out.
And I am also a boy, mom and awife to an amazing husband.

(06:11):
And a couple of fun things aboutme is I am a huge WWE E fan.
I love lots of balloons atparties.
I feel like a party isn't aparty unless you got a lot of
balloons.
And my favorite place in theworld is the beach, a comm
beach.
I must make sure I clarify, so Iknow that I can help you with
this routine just because I knowwhat it's like to juggle all the

(06:31):
things, and I have experimentedwith this and figure it out.
Five things that are gonna helpyou to feel more prepared for
the week, and that is the Sundayprep routine.
And the first part of the Sundayprep routine is prepping your
clothes and getting your clothesready for the week.
So even if you wear a uniformevery day, or your daily attire

(06:54):
is yoga pants and a t-shirt,doing this will help you to
eliminate that decision fatiguethat I was talking to you about.
Earlier.
So getting all of your clothesready and prepared in that area
is gonna make it so easy for youto grab and go so that you don't
have to think or search or lookfor anything because everything
will be ready to go.

(07:15):
But before you start preparingyour clothes for the week, you
want to check the weather andthe forecast.
I know I've been caught in asituation where I wished I had a
jacket or worn my other shoesthat were a little resistant to
the rain.
So I didn't have to walk aroundin wet socks.
So check the forecast and makesure that you are dressing
appropriately to see if there'sgonna be rain or snow, or maybe

(07:37):
it's gonna be a little hot andyou want to have some cooler
attire for that day.
Also, um, I know here inJacksonville, Florida, sometimes
the weather can be a littlegoofy where it starts off really
cold and it's warm or viceversa.
So just make sure you're payingattention to those things when
you're checking the forecast andpreparing your clothes.

(07:59):
So next thing you want to do islook for, um, any special
occasions that you have going onduring the week, um, and plan on
what you're going to wear.
For those special occasions, whether it's meetings, big
events, a date night, you wannamake sure that you have all
these clothes ready so thatagain, you don't have to think
about it and you can grab thingsand go and not have to worry.

(08:23):
If you look better in the polkadots or the stripes, the blue
versus the black.
You already know what you'rewearing and everything is ready
to go.
And then a quick note about thisone is also make sure to make
note of any clothes that need togo to the cleaners because, um,
this will be a good time for youto get those things to the
cleaners so you'll have it readyfor the event that you are

(08:44):
preparing for.
Last thing, you want to includethe kids in picking out their
clothes, their outfits for theweek.
Um, I know that my kids, they, they sometimes change their
minds, um, on what they decideto pick out.
But once they get into a routineof picking things out, at least
they'll have things where theycan just pick it up and go.

(09:05):
And again, you don't have tothink about, oh, what is Billy
gonna wear today?
Or, oh, what should I put Beckyin for school today?
Everything will be ready becausethe kids are gonna be taking
part in picking out theiroutfits, and your spouse and
partner can do the same thing aswell.
So the next part of the Sundayprep routine is planning out

(09:26):
your menu and getting thosemeals, uh, prepared or at least
thinking about what meals you'regonna be preparing during the
week.
So on my podcast, the Real HappyMom Podcast, on episode 1 25 ad,
my friend and guest, AndreaHayman, talk about her two by
two by two system for planningout meals for the week.

(09:47):
And, um, if you are like me andare struggling to figure out
what to plan for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, she has a
really simple solution for this.
So, um, for her system, shetalks about picking out two
recipes that are super easy, that take minimal time for you
to create.
Put that on the menu.

(10:08):
Then two that are a bit moreelaborate or creative.
And this may even be a newrecipe that you wanna try.
And then two recipes that are inyour wheelhouse that you're
really comfortable with, thatyou can prepare in 20 minutes or
less.
And when you add all of thesemeals up, it'll be six days
worth of meals, but that leavesone day and that day is a day

(10:32):
for leftovers or eating out ifyou like.
But that is a really greatsystem that I know has helped me
with planning out my meals, especially dinner for the week.
Also check what you already havein your pantry or in
refrigerator that you can use tocreate the meal plan.
And, uh, also create a grocerylist.

(10:55):
So.
I have a resource that I'm goingto mention to you at the end of
this presentation.
And in there is this, uh, mealplanner here that you can simply
write out what you're having forbreakfast, lunch, and dinner
each day of the week.
Use this here to get thingsplanned out and then put it in
an area where you are going tobe seeing it regularly.

(11:17):
For me, it is on therefrigerator, and this makes it
easy for you to glance and seewhat exactly you are gonna be
doing for each day.
And you don't necessarily haveto be locked into it.
You can change your mind, but atleast you have an idea of what
you're gonna be having, um, eachday of the week.
Then lastly is just creating agrocery list and also involving

(11:39):
the kids in preparing thisgrocery list is really gonna be
super helpful so that they canbe in a part of picking out the
snacks or whether it be, um,certain items that are gonna be
included in the recipes that youwill be creating during the
week.
So considering the family andhaving them involved in this

(12:04):
meal planning and preparation, this is gonna be super helpful.
And, um, also getting theminvolved in actually prepping
things.
If you wanna take it a stepfurther as far as either
chopping up vegetables orputting things in certain
containers so that things areready to go throughout the week.
Again, we want to involve thefamily so that you're not doing
everything yourself.

(12:27):
So the next part of the Sundayroutine is cleaning out your
bag, purse, backpack, whateverit is that you are carrying with
you on a regular basis.
Because if you're like me, youmay be collecting things
throughout the week.
So we want to go ahead and reseteverything before the week
starts.
So the easy, simple way to dothis is just dump out everything

(12:47):
that's inside of your bag andsort out the items that need to
stay in your bag and the thingsthat don't need to be in your
bag.
I'm always amazed at how manyreceipts and random things that
end up in my bag, and the samefor the kids.
Take some time to have them.
Go ahead and take out everythingthat's inside of their backpacks

(13:11):
and get them cleaned andorganized so that they are ready
to go for the week.
And then if you can include yourpartner or spouse in doing the
same thing for whatever bagthey're using, this will make it
even more helpful so everyoneknows where everything is and
it's ready to go.
Once Monday morning rollsaround.
Up next is planning out yourweek for you and your family.

(13:33):
Now this one right here is oneof my favorite parts, but it can
take a little bit of time, um,until you get used to how you
want to do this as far as whatsystem you're gonna use to plan
out your week.
But I have one that I'm gonnashare with you here.
So I first like to start bybrain dumping.
Everything that needs to getdone.
Um, a lot of times we're walkingaround thinking about, oh yeah,

(13:55):
I need to schedule that doctor'sappointment.
Or, oh, I forgot there's thathole in the wall that needs to
be patched up, or the light bulbneeds to be replaced.
Sit down and just brain dumpeverything that has been on your
mind that you're thinking aboutthat needs to get done.
And I personally like to braindump things into compartments.
So breaking down, what do I needto get done in the home?
For the kids at work in yourside hustle or business for

(14:20):
yourself and for others.
And once you've taken time tojust dump out everything that's
on your mind onto paper and havea list of things that you need
to get done, then it's time toprioritize your brain dump and,
uh, get some things, uh, inorder so that you know what
you're gonna focus on.
During the week, so in episode 237, I talk about five ways to

(14:42):
prioritize your task so you knowwhat to focus on next.
If you are having a littletrouble with prioritization,
definitely check that one out.
But I like to go through eachtask and determine what really
needs to be done, um, thatparticular week or what can be
postponed or delegated, andsometimes even eliminated
completely.
And then from there, I'm leftwith things that I can, um, move

(15:05):
into different groups and seewhere I can get things done
during the week.
And then also don't forget ifyou can, to batch some of those
tasks together.
Because I know, like for me,there was one time when I had to
make a call to my aunt who Ihaven't talked to in a long
time.
Also had to make a call toschedule an appointment for the

(15:25):
kids, and then I also need tocall to cancel a subscription.
All of these things were calls, which means I needed to be on
the phone and instead of doingone call on one day, one the
next day, and then the other.
I did all of them at the sametime.
This like eliminated a lot ofextra time that I would spend,
and I just knocked all of thosethings out.
So if you can batch those thingstogether so you can see where

(15:48):
you can fit things in when youhave even a small block of time
of even 15 minutes up.
Next, you want to plan out yourweek on your family calendar.
Um.
I like to sit down and actuallylook at everyone's calendar.
So see what your spouse orpartner has going on, see what
the kids have going on on theircalendar, especially with

(16:10):
school.
See if there's events, meetings,um, events that are coming up,
and then see if there's anyschedule conflicts so that you
can get those things ironed outbefore Monday hits.
Then the last thing is you don'twanna forget to make time for
yourself.
Um, honestly, I would definitelystart with this first, but a lot

(16:32):
of times we tend to focus onothers, but I just wanted to
make a reminder to make time foryourself, and then also include
some time for some familyactivities like game nights,
movie nights, or even ascavenger hunt.
So the last part of the Sundayprep routine is restarting
devices.
Now, I will tell you that I amnot the super tech savvy person,

(16:55):
but my husband is, and he hasgotten me really into this.
Um, and this is the reason why Iwanted to share this with you,
and the reason why restartingyour devices is so important.
Because it's gonna help withyour devices, uh, so that
they're not crashing.
It also helps your devices toretain memory and run smoothly
and even prolong the batterylife because nothing's worse

(17:16):
than getting ready to do a Zoomcall and your computer decides
it wants to do an update.
So take some time, go ahead andrestart all your devices.
Um, this includes your laptop.
Your phone, tablets, all thosethings, go ahead and restart all
of those things so that youdon't run into roadblocks or,
um, run into situations that aregonna cause you to be late or

(17:38):
get frustrated, like how I didwhen my computer decided wanted
to do an update.
Um, go ahead, restart everythingso that you can have things run
smoothly without any technicaldifficulties.
And then lastly, encourage yourkids to do the same thing with
their devices.
Because we live in a day and agewhere everyone has some type of

(17:59):
electronic device, and we wannamake sure that everything is
running as smooth as possible.
So now I've given you the fivesteps of the Sunday prep
routine, and you are ready forthe week.
Now that does it for thisepisode of The Real Happy Mom
Podcast.

(18:19):
Make sure you head over torealhappymom.com/moretime to
listen to this full presentationas well as the other recordings,
plus some really great bonuses.
Okay, and check back next weekfor another one of the great
