Welcome to Episode 144
of the scale model podcast sponsored by Cole
Tv bench on custom model tools
and return to kit form. I'm 1 of
your hosts stewart Clark. Once again, joined on
a warm summer evening
by our man North of Lake Erie, mister
Jeff Highland.
How are you, Stuart? Not bad. How are
(01:09):
you tonight? Gus. That a been outdoors today,
and it's as usual, very mug and as
miserable.
Yeah. And we are looking forward to the
remnants of hurricane barrel.
Exactly. Second major storm of the season drifting
up through the, United States, which should probably
hit your next guest before it hits us
sooner. Well, it might it might... You never
know it might Dodge. So from West Chicago
(01:30):
land, where he makes a living from dodging
hurricanes, mister Terry Mu.
Oh, Terry Terry, Your microphones off. We've lost
Terry.
See, that's what I get for muting when
I sneeze. You're right. I was was I
was watching you and you were trying to
be so cool about. That's alright alright. Cool
(01:50):
leave that. I just leave that in. That's
alright. Yeah. Yeah. Well, good evening. Good evening
Good evening. But we do get remnants of
hurricanes
occasionally this far north?
Well, the... 1 of my remember most was
over on East End West,
I think it's West All now. But
they do heritage fast, which is their... In
(02:11):
September a big thing and 1 weekend, It
was so much rain. Oh here fast. The
entire weekend. It was just
Yeah. Yeah, like, inch and a half a
day, which doesn't sound like much from somebody
from the Gulf Coast, but
Yep here. That'll fill the creek pretty fast.
Well, Yeah. I'm. I'm still dealing with a
minor a minor leak in between our 2
(02:32):
units, mine and my neighbors
So, unfortunately, I have the shot back and
Cleared away, and, you know, we just kinda
kinda deal with it as as we can.
So
we also wanna thank our patreon and buy
me a copy supporters.
Also, our check our what we like page.
I've been trying to add some of the
books we're reading to today. I will be
doing more over the summer. And that is
(02:53):
a nice hell for a nice segue. That's
a nice segue into our latest news. We're
actually gonna take a little bit of of
a sa somatic.
Until September second. We're gonna take the summer
off, and it's all me. I've got enough
real life stuff going on with my Google
life being sick
she's going in the hospital,
awful lot of other stuff going on. It's
just busy. And I'm 1 of these people
(03:13):
if I can't,
do a hundred percent product. I'm not happy.
So I wanna make sure we're gonna we're
gonna do that or hopefully, have to wait.
Wait. Wait Wait. Just just so I understand.
This show is a hundred percent product. Is
that how you see it? A hundred percent
of my output. Productivity.
I wanna make sure quality. Quality.
Quality.
Quality I know, believe it or not. Quality.
(03:34):
I know. I'm not... The bar is not
high. I'm just saying, but, you know, still.
We're gonna take a little bit of a
break. Hopefully, we'll have some exciting new things
in September. And, you know what? It's always
almost nice take take summer off, you know,
go on sa cervical,
you know, do that. So there we go.
It'll it'll it'll give us time to work
on work on kids hopefully.
(03:56):
Now, we were chatting about this just before
we... You... You hit the record button. But
yeah. We will not be able to chat
about whatever
interesting things develop at the Us nationals and
in, in know a week and a half,
until September, but we can probably deal with
all that on the on the Facebook. Yeah.
If something... If something serious happens, we'll definitely
(04:17):
cover it on Facebook and we'll. Yeah. We'll
the podcast guys.
Take that stuff. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
But we are... Are there's a few challenge
coins making their way... Making their way down
there. So, and I know our good buddy,
Frank and not for from My Canada. He's
going down there. He's gonna have a meeting
with the president of
Usa and Mexico. So it's like, it it
(04:39):
it's like the old 333
Ami.
Yeah. So will it be interesting to see
to see what comes out of that too.
And all sorts of exciting things. But for
all those of you going to nationals. So
I hope you have a good time safe
journey.
You don't go completely bankrupt up in the
vendor room. Mh. Absolutely now you now done...
Now, I think Jeff, you're mentioning on our
last build night. Do you you saw the
(04:59):
map.
That's incredible. Absolutely incredible. It it was on
1 of the... It's on the the Facebook
group for the the the Na. And Think
Jeff Jeff Her posted it and what I...
It's... First of all it's a huge building
that they're gonna have it in. Mh. But
secondly,
holy macro, there's a lot of vendors coming
into this thing. Yeah. This is gonna be
you... I I think as you described it,
(05:19):
the world's greatest a hobby shop for 4
days. Yep. Well world's largest hobby shop for
4 days. That's the way they they describe
it. So, yeah, There'll be a lot of
fun. I... That reminds me. I gotta get
my list to Frank.
There's a couple of things. Can you have
a list? Okay.
List. The there there is... It's just actually
only 1 thing. It's the
Alicia grant Alicia grandfather.
(05:41):
Served in the war He was a doctor
he worked with ban.
And he was in a crash of a,
of a b 24 a Gander.
And they actually were what the dough, you
know, they recovered his body just after the
crash, but they actually recently dove down there
again and
I think had ward used the Has molding,
It's called riders of the storm, and it's
(06:02):
actually an aircraft from the same squadron.
So if I see it, I want... I
wanna frank to pick it up. It's not
too unreasonable and I can easily adapt it.
Because got everything it's exactly that squad and
exactly that aircraft. Now you gave me a
nice b 24 2. So if I can,
I can always also adapt that as well,
but This 1 apparently has got all the
goodies 1 needs and it builds up quite
(06:23):
well apparently? So I'd like to do that
as a
membership build for
Grandfather. So it's 1 of those ones that
if it's a good deal if I up
upon it, then I'll get it. A I'm
not like us gonna pay, you know, crazy
prices and all that. Like, the 5 bucks
or something that's crazy for. It's fine crazy.
Well, I think it goes for over... It
goes for over a hundred. It's been out
for a while, but it's... They don't make
(06:44):
them anymore. It's a big 40, 70 second
scale, beats will 4, and it's got, like
I say, the the number 10 squadron from
the Rca f. So
That's what I'm looking for, but we'll see.
Anyway, let's get on get... You should get
a get 1 in 01:30 second scale. It'll
go nicely with your fire. It'll go nicely
with my spit fire bentley. My sander your
(07:06):
like sander? Yeah. Why not. Right? And, you
know, I got I got a little bit
more room in house.
You know,
you know, But... Yeah, We'll see. Alright. We're
gonna talk about all those all those goodies
at the latest Bro sale a little bit
later, But let's let's let's get on with
the hobby news.
First of all, very important thing here, shape
ways is filed for bankruptcy.
(07:27):
No big surprised. They were over pricing for
a while, but they were 1 of the
original 3 d printing companies
that you would... People would
have their various 3 d files on, and
then 1 could go on there and order
a printout out. Mh. But... Yeah, They they
weren't keeping with the times. They had a
lot of older printers.
So
and people in that space are saying, yeah,
(07:47):
no big surprise there. It's just a matter
of where will some of these vendors now
now now go
although a lot of them now now print
their own or use other services.
Yeah. I I check hero forge where you
can design your own gaming miniature and such.
Yep. And actually print color and such, and
they say physical manager miniature orders are on
hold. I note because you get boxes from.
(08:09):
Shape ways if you order from hero forge.
Right. Right.
Yeah. It'll be interesting to see who picks
up the bits and pieces from that Mh.
Mh. So, yep. I'm sure there's a... You
know, there's a there there is a market
for it as we always say.
So we'll see... You know, we'll see what
we'll see what happens there. Yeah.
Alright.
Other news,
(08:30):
individual releases in that. A salaries got
some releases. They got... I believe 6 here.
One's definitely a new mold, the rest of
re pops, I believe.
So first up is the f 35 c
lightning, lightning 2.
The Cad bar version. This is from tally.
This is all new molds. Mh. So the
70 second scale, the 1 you find on
(08:51):
the aircraft carrier with the polling wings, etcetera.
Lots of nice d house for 4 marking
choices,
all Us.
Marine corps marine corps and some navy stuff.
2 navy tum 2 marine corps.
Masks,
die cut masks and also for painting not
only the can, but the Ram panels, you
(09:13):
know, with that unique Yeah. Unique look. So
that... That's kinda a nice. That will say
you. Looks like the canopy is is tinted,
at least part of this brew. Looks like
it's tinted That's kinda I think it is.
Yeah. Yep. Yep. To match that. So that'll
be good. Mh.
So, yeah, Nice nice looking kits. It's gonna
be out from a calorie
very very soon, probably even as we speak.
(09:36):
So, yeah. So that's a nice 1. That's
when I have... Or, no. I do have
it at 35 in this stash. Yes. I
do. I've got an early model from a
salary. Came with that and the f 30,
the x 32 or the x 31, the
Boeing
of submission. The 1 with the great big
mouth,
the intake bound, whatever. X 31, I think
(09:57):
it was. So I've got that. Those are
for my what ifs.
Okay. Next up is a... Looks like an
Italian vehicle.
Some sort of a jeep armored car with
a big gun.
Sir. So you print a. Yeah. It's a
desert.
It was built on on car. Ab... I've
got 1 of these. I built the Av
(10:18):
B14...
Ab b 41.
I should get back to it. It's it's
a painting. It's a weather stage, I think.
Okay. That's where I left off, I need
to get back to it. Alright. So yeah.
It's a 20 mil. A dual. He used
20000000 on the, oh full amount there. Yep.
It's had kind of a kind of a
neat looking vehicle. I like Look listen at
all the way we got the Jerry cans
(10:39):
on the side. So they were they were
4 wheel steering
Right. And kind of a universal setup, like,
a lot of these ones where you could
it could drive and reverse about as fast
as. Cool, is forward.
But, yeah, they were really useful. I even
got resin desert tires for. There it goes.
So that could be a summer. I need
to get back to it. Yeah You know.
That's a good 1 to just build it.
(11:00):
You know, just get it done, you know,
just Jeff's been hitting the shell chain. Yeah.
You know. So, you know, there we go.
There there's some as. So there's something for
September.
Okay. Vehicles. And next up, How
how how how about this for you and
Lin Jeff? Now for avail 1600 Spider.
It's 01:24
scale.
Love,
it takes me back. Boy, these cars were.
(11:22):
Exactly day when when cars look nice. Yeah
Yeah.
This is nice in line, 4 cylinder,
15 70 C,
couple of d cows.
Bright blue molding. Bright blue lightning and black.
Yep. You got the nice 1 there. Springs,
Springs
parts.
(11:43):
Oh, yeah. Like it's great. Yeah. Nice. Nice
nice kit. That's
nice. Yeah. Honey how can you not like
these little spiders, any of these companies? I
I just can't... I just... I just don't
think I can I can get into them
anymore? I can't get down that little.
Yeah. That's that's the only only only problem
I may not fit.
Well, that's okay. The the window blow through
(12:03):
your hair over the top right. Yeah. Exactly.
And the bugs are, like, going into my
teeth. Yeah. Exactly. My head will be above
the windshield. Alright. Next up I'm pretty sure
this is a re repo. This is in
mirage 3 e, 01:48
scale. From a salary, the early sixties
intercept.
I always like the French lawn darts. These
are really nice. Yep. Various air forces, including
(12:24):
Australia, Use them.
The Spanish. So we've got the Ra f
70 fifth Quadrant in William,
Australia in 19 85.
The Spanish folks,
Brazil.
And
what's the last 1 here? French. French. That's
right. Yes.
So again. Yeah.
You got an after burger, you can go
(12:44):
back max 2 with the after burner.
Yep. I should say the French lawn darts.
I like that. Yep. There's there's a lot
of have
detailed stuff out there for these little be
out tons of aftermarket for these things.
Okay. Next up, another 1 for their, what
I call their gaming line. They're 01:56
scale. This is the Ko well Mark 04:55
(13:08):
parts d details for 2 versions, 11.3 centimeters
in length.
Yeah. Nice big big big ass Cro seventh
Armored division at Normandy.
And the first Polish armor division at at
at Normandy. 75 millimeter gun.
1 piece tracks basically, Well, 2 piece tracks,
I guess.
(13:29):
But basically,
looks like Lincoln length. No. No. They look
like. That's weird.
Well, it's a gaming 1, so they just...
They just 2 piece molding probably.
Probably. Yeah. Yeah. But there we go.
Alright. And also, if you got a British
1, you gotta have a German 1 a
Panzer panzer are 3, 01:56
scale 89 parts,
(13:50):
including a figure and d calls for 2
versions.
Looks like you can make it whatever number
you want. All the details there. Exactly.
Version a, the Ops j in Russia 19
42
or the off sell in Italy in 44.
Yeah. Some attractive looking tank. I built 1
in 30 disc scale. Oh, and also a
version c in Denmark with a short with
(14:11):
the short gun,
45 and the version d with the side
skirts in Normandy in 44 with the long
gun.
So there you go. And again, similar sort
of thing for your gaming thing.
So that's from our good friends at a,
moving on. I see. Ic see has got
some cool things coming out. So we've got
(14:33):
the
01:30 fifth scale leopard 2A6 with With crew,
this is 1 of the ones that have
been picked up by the armed forces of
the Ukraine from Germany.
So this is a full on
with the crew.
So that looks nice, 01:30 fifth scale. They
received it according to Forbes, Ukraine received a
(14:54):
total of 21. Go ahead, Jeff. I was
just gonna say this is a very sharp
looking tank. Yeah. They are. Yeah. Yeah, Something...
Something about it. You. 3 were donated by
Portugal in the restroom of Germany.
Yeah.
Very nice. That'd Be fun. That be popular.
And then a paint a paint set for
it. Yep.
In unless sure Russian, Unless your Russian tanker,
(15:14):
then it won't be popular. It also comes
with the leopard... You can also get a
leopard crew.
And as Jeff said the paint set.
They're also coming up with the acrylic paint
set for the Word war 2 imperial Japanese
Grade, m navy.
There I go. If I hadn't not already
gotten got my to me paint for my
yam.
Mh. Very good. Very good. Yeah. I'm getting
(15:35):
better.
This this would be a good choice. Medium
russian neutral gray, some Matt Red, German gay,
gray primer and a var gloss included.
We should we should alert the listeners that
you have click the little button in the
middle of the bottom, of the Zoom call
that
engages Ai to take notes of very say.
(15:55):
We're kinda curious trans how I how how
Ai works with the Stewart
pronunciation. So we'll see how that plays out.
We'll see how well it slaughter that... And
also, I I actually had... This as a
separate item, but I forgot it was in
here. So this is some people been talking
about the Stud baker 01:30 fifth Us 6U5
gasoline tank truck. That looks cool.
(16:16):
You know Doesn't have with a bunch of
gas on it. Army runs on the gas
Maybe they'll do 1 on 40 eighth. Yep.
No smoking within 50 feet. Oh, yeah. Right.
Those 4 war 2. You're you're kidding. Right?
It's size 5 point. Yeah. Right. Okay.
Her boom. Ka boom. There was an earth
shattering ka boom. We're gonna die, but not
(16:37):
by cancer. So come on. Know, what that
hell smoked the damn cigarette. Alright. Yeah. And
then they also have a 01:30 fifth k
said 70
German military vehicle with an mg 34 kit.
So imagine like, the jeep with the machine
gun, this would be the German version. It
is the 1 of the most generic looking
vehicles.
Yep.
Yeah slabs sauce For your you're for your
(16:58):
first scratch build project to basically build a
box and stick wheels on it. Yep. You
know, the engine department might be a challenge.
But...
Well, you know, and they would put all
sorts of things on it. Yeah. It was
just probably cobb together for some existing truck.
Right. I... Yeah.
Look at the next shock or something. 3...
3 weapons and Chevron from the... Wow.
(17:21):
Forces of the Ukraine. And it looks like
a Dji mavic drone
in 1 fifth.
Of course.
Yes. Suicide drones, things like that. Look at
them all. That's a... Look at it. Water
cooled 30 on a max.
Yeah. The little maximum see they use whatever.
Sting missile?
This is a this would be a fun
(17:41):
kit just for this sheer. Just a.
Just to build them all. Yeah. This would
be great. Cool.
Yep. Exactly.
Alright. That's got my attention. Anti Anti tang
missiles,
sport series pistols,
They
employ the male as the bulk assault rifle.
Mh.
Yep.
Yeah.
(18:03):
Yeah. Lots of ways to give the russians
eye headache.
Then we have
a air based kit na knock on,
bam.
Spectrum fun. Yep. Okay. Vietnam. Comes. It's B
e's. Let's see how the ai handles that.
So mh. You get the b 26
k, counter invader, and o 2 Sky master
pilot figures ground and technical personnel figures,
(18:25):
with ornaments and 2 sets of the airfield
plate. You got a nice little thing to
make a. Yeah. I should waited. Shouldn't
a 26 k. Where you go? Battle teach
shirt.
Buy not waited. Just have to buy another
1. I'm sure you with the... But fair.
It... This kid wouldn't have come out if
you hadn't bought it. So true. Yeah. They
were waiting.
(18:48):
They were waiting.
So... Yeah. So that's
and they were designated a 26
because Thailand did not officially allow the deployment
of bomb in its territory.
Mh. So these these ran out of
out of Thailand.
Interesting.
Very interesting from our friends at Ic Ic.
(19:09):
Okay. Then I like this 1 from
from Meng. This is the 70 second scale,
the fairly new new m m 01:42
High Mars, high mobility rocket artillery system.
That's pretty neat Looking. Mh. I'm 70 seconds
scale. I, again, you're not I'm gonna say
you can sci it up.
(19:30):
Oh, yeah. This could be all kinds of
different things, but it's
it's also pretty prevalent right now as a
Yep. Yep.
Just a beast. They've delivered over 400 Lockheed
Martin's delivered more than 400 to the Army
Marine Corps international customers.
And it's been going since May 2005
I just I just don't remember seeing this
that often. But again, I don't really follow
(19:51):
the armor stuff. But, yeah. Yeah. I mean,
it's Ml. It's just the next generation of
the Ml. And that's what I remember. That's
what you saw that. But this is nice.
Yep. 1 7 dollars. Think there's smaller small
original model. Yeah. Which means better mobility. Yep.
Yeah. Hundred and 9 millimeters in length modular
design.
Makes assembly easy.
(20:13):
Yeah. From the cad renders, it looks good.
And you guys see the modular design there.
Guess. A neat picture,
like, they had the... Again, the good thing
of the site they have, real world. So
there's vehicles, and they got this 1 in
driving along a dirt road with all the
dirt and dust on it. Yeah. Coming right
at it with the guy with the green
painted camel face.
(20:34):
Saying we're going this way. We're going this
dust dust weather and windshield wiper fluid and
Yep. Washing.
Yep. Yep. That's a nice reference picture. Except
to set the guy's hands locally way too
clean. Yeah. Well, big hands. Big hands. Big
hands. Jazz hands.
Yes mom must be jazz hands. Yeah. So
that's... So, yeah, That's kinda cool. I saw
(20:55):
that, and I thought that was interesting.
Okay. And then I saw this 1 on
Facebook.
Yes. So and looks great. This is your
palate cleanser. Right? Yeah. This is the palette
cleanser. The a hand riot h hd 1
by plane in 1 sixteenth
scale. A fully printed model with photo etched
part custom made d details. Clean printing without
(21:17):
ras marks and they're showing 2 cans of
pop, which are 15 centimeters
each high just to show the comparison size
of this thing. This is a master. The
rails were beautiful planes too. And loop craft
I've yet to buy anything from G.
Just
1 day. There's so good.
No. He's got some photo etched there. Everything's
(21:38):
33D printed on this thing.
You know, we're at people. We're at that
point now.
Yeah.
So, yeah, I don't imagine what what the
cost is gonna be like, but we'll be
cheap. We will see. But, yeah, I had
to point that 1 out. There always do
some cool stuff there.
Yeah. Okay. And then this 1 from our
good friends at special hobby.
(21:58):
The very last royal neighbor propeller fighter, which
was the Mark 47 C fire.
So they're gonna offer 4 schemes,
and they're kind of indicating
you know, various different schemes,
how they were slightly different for each 1
depending on on the aircraft type. So,
you know, that's gonna be a nice kit.
(22:19):
The c far, I've almost like like like
some of the later C ours.
I don't think I have any in 48
scale. So I I may have to, you
know, scratch that at some point.
Nice looking plain. Yeah. Very nice to see
c far. This is a 1 70 second
scale example. So maybe they'll build a 48
scale 1.
At some point. You know what? I I
(22:39):
should know this, but I did not realize
that the... The spit fires went up to
Mark 47. Oh, yeah. That's a lot of
bark. Yep. Yep. They had quite a few
of the line lasted quite a long time.
Yeah. So... Okay.
Now this next 1, if you're trying to
work in firefox, you might wanna load load
this link in Chrome because Chrome will auto
translate.
(23:00):
Yep. Or a Firefox does an Auto trans
translate Japanese yet.
This is the... What's new for July, and
I should've have put August 2, but we
can do that as well.
What's new for July.
In
so they've got f 35.
They've got A0A
sky hawk.
All sorts of goodies goody goodies Pops. I'm
(23:20):
gonna have to get these vending machines at
some point. Yeah. Now they've got the hamburger
vending jean. Yeah. I did notice though the
b 47 e in 1 70 second scale.
That's gonna be a fairly large kiss. So
re released to the batch Detroit VF1A,
Armor Yeah. Metroid. And the new, if you
go down a bit, New mold Wife f
19
(23:41):
Metroid. Yep. Mh.
So that's... I know I think somebody had
1 in the past, but not at this
scale.
Yep. So scale should be nice. Yep. So
I think it's... I I think it's gonna
be fun. They've also got some, you know,
what if the jet Vs haul
So they got a bunch of new stuff
coming out. I've also seen...
(24:03):
Oh, where was it? Was it Y of
19 with the fast pack or something on
top?
I saw someone mention that Peter... Bunch a
bunch of them... Yeah. Re released yeah. Whole
series of... And the space... The 21. Police
wolf from,
Par lock.
Yep. So that's coming out. Nice little kit.
Bringing out the Shin again because of the
(24:23):
the Godzilla movie. So.
Yep.
Why not take advantage of it? Oh, yeah.
Pretty.
Exactly. They got a V 22 Os and
Japanese marking, some rally cars.
A normal cars. So, yeah, all sorts of
all sorts of good stuff, A few with
attractive women in front of the cars, go
figure.
(24:45):
I mean, why not. Well, you know, that's
that's. Just hand them out of the way
so we can see the car. Right? And,
excuse me, ma'am, could step aside, please. Please,
please. Can't see the car very well.
I like that. That's cool.
And then if you if if you actually
go... And it says next month. You go
(25:05):
to August.
They've got the Jet beetle.
Which is a rep pop. The 1 70
second scaled jet beetle. Oh, from Ultra beetle
from Ultra. Yeah.
The airport chemical fire truck 1 7 seconds
scale. That's nice. Yeah. I I've actually seen
that at the show? Have you fantastic. It?
Okay. Yeah.
A few motorbikes
(25:27):
nissan fair lady police car.
Yeah. There we. There we, Jeff. That's... You
could go down to the white. Oh, Jeff
wants the nissan skyline 2000 gt.
Down. Look at that beast.
Very nice. Very nice.
Why I have 21 from Mac cross Plus
has been re re released.
And more of the ace combat ones. Yep.
(25:49):
Did I get that 1? I'm gonna have
to look see if I got that 1.
Alright. And then if we go to September,
Subaru with 03:60. You you skip right over
the subaru? I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
Converts what you're here? Is it roll the
rollback
Canvas. There we go. Terry is going car
shopping. That's right.
03:60 convertible looks like a Japanese beetle. Right?
(26:10):
The Japanese version of the beetle.
Basically.
And then Japanese beetle. Yep. And then last
but not least into September, they re released
the F4U5N
cor and 48 scale.
Classic kit, the 0, the dragon. The jo.
Yep. The seeking,
the f 15 j and 01:40 eighth for
from Japan,
(26:32):
bunch of bikes.
Here it is. The YF0 single seat at
delta. Oh m fat 02:03 hawk.
I don't have to kid bash those now.
Yeah. You gotta a repo right there. Yeah.
But you have to wait until September.
And then you got And, oh, perfect.
(26:53):
Because I was gonna scratch up those
the those main
pod, wing pod are...
There's, like, a bunch of Amr in them.
Mh.
So
They've got Professor Joe, the TR5 Harp,
Norma,
the macro, the macro ship is Sd f

(27:15):
Now don't know if this is a typo
of but they've got 1 04:50 a plastic
model, Japanese aircraft carrier
s.
I don't know, but this this 1 04:50.
Yeah. You think that's a typo might be.
I don't think so. I. I doubt it.
I really some old
box scale kit. Okay. I've never
seen it in that scale.
(27:36):
They've got the FV1J
super Valkyrie Max Mila.
With the fast fax

Always nice. Yeah. But as you say the
captain some more from Captain Har lock.
Oliver... Blue Arcadia. Yeah. Yeah.
And then... Oh, here's the 1. The v
f 21 with fast pack and full booster.
(27:58):
That's when people. That's that's a brand new
mold.
People are very excited about that. Yeah. That
looks nice.
It looks like it's carrying a giant fountain
pen. I gotta tell you though. I realize
realizes it's not, but it looks like a
fountain pen full booster. Yep.
Because when you gotta fold, he may as
will do it with a booster directly. It's
not Star Wars where everything's like jump capable.
(28:20):
I know. Little single seat fighters. Now they
need help. Any hint. When you wanna when
you want a full space, when you absolutely
positively wanna a full space, get a full
booster.
Here we go. Have all the ti Toyota
Sal 1600 Gt.
Deployed.
That's a memory machine that. Oh, yeah. I
remember those cmos.
(28:40):
I also see a lot... I remember seeing
a lot of them resting too in our
Canadian winters. Oh, yeah. They... The the the
metal was not good on those cars. They
were rust. They were rust buckets
So that is from our good friends
at.
I.
Stay that... Oh, if you guys haven't picked
the Mitsubishi F1M2,
(29:01):
float 0. The
what did they call it? The f 1?
The pee? Oh, yeah. I think.
Yeah. By playing
observation. Catapult plane. Right. Yeah. Very nice.
Yeah. Always. No That's not the pete. That's...
Is it?
Yes. Yeah. The f 1. Yeah. Okay. You're
(29:23):
sure.
90 percent. Okay. That works. That's... Hey. That's
close to enough for us. Right? Yeah.
It's a good kit. It's a really good
kit. Cool. Alright. Built yet, But it's really
good kit. Very cool. Any other kits we
should be talking about before we go to
scale meats? Anything else I just I just
have a strong feeling we're gonna have to
torch the Ai.
(29:43):
Yeah, I know, it's gonna be fun. It's
gonna be fun.
Or it's good good good learning. If we
hear about Zoom going down tomorrow We'll know
it's us. Yeah. Does was a mitsubishi Pee.
That's right.
To us. Okay. T g Another. I was
like,
catapult plane off ships. There you go. Okay.
Scale mates, whole kits, new tool.
(30:05):
We have an imperial Japanese navy submarine, the
Ro 35 and 1 3 fiftieth.
This is
given all the 01:30 fiftieth. Yep. Warships that
are out there. That's a good to that's
a good Yep. Good 1. 0, we've got
a castle test model China, 1 700. The
Us navy Casablanca class. S escort aircraft carry

(30:25):
Neat. I... I don't remember seeing a lot
of your escort class. M. Carriers. So that
be popular.
That's on July 6 along with Uss Oakland
from v Hobby.
And then we've got from the legion star
and other games workshop stuff, a couple items
there on the fifth.
There's the leopard crew... With the crew from
Ic.
(30:46):
Mh. You're seeing a lot of submarines coming
out now from this 1 company. O okay
b G golf.
Uss straighten?
Yeah.
Yeah 700. Yeah know. Yep. And you got
a 70 second scale, self propelled artillery, 2S3,
from Alex Miniature in 1 70 second,
(31:06):
a landing pad for your games workshop 28
mil.
Now now I I gotta note this next
1? Just below that 1. Now, is it
me or or does that Does that logo
kind of a match box vibe? No kidding
lately a match box? Okay. Yes. Yeah. Triumph
triumph p willing. You would be willing. It's
(31:26):
good thing Match box doesn't do this stuff
anymore. Although Horn might might wanna go after
them. But,
that that was my first greed was oh.
It's a re pop no. It's a new
tool, but they're using that the that mark.
That low. They're using the 1 70 second
scale. Yeah. Some 70 second scale vehicles were
war 2. Yep. Yeah. Yeah. But I saw
that and I went Yeah.
(31:48):
When else I I'm not sure that that
Match box would wanna of be associated with
triumph of the will, but... No. But, no.
I don't... Yeah. I don't think they wanna
be. So you you you never know. We're
waiting for comment from from Warren lawyers, because
I think they own the match box Ip
now. Yeah. No. Actually, no. It's Rave. Has
a lot of their old
(32:08):
Arbor kits with 1 76. They've got the
molds now. So maybe it's Sur. I'm not
sure to be perfectly honest. We're waiting for
somebody's hilarious to comment.
Alright. July first, the Pla Navy aircraft carrier
food jam by Bro and 1 700 scale.
That's 1 of the newer
There is the Chinese Navy. Yeah.
(32:30):
That's a good scale. Interesting looking different releases.
Yeah. Interesting looking bridge on that too.
It's interesting because, yeah, that's Bro doing it
in 1 700 and then magic factory doing
it in 1 700.
To same,
Fuji.
Yeah. I wonder if it's the same molding.
Kinda has to be Want well,
(32:52):
Says the Bro 1 says 20 22
new tool. The magic factor says 20 24
asterisk.
Yeah too.
So who knows? Yeah. They don't have spruce
shots for the Bro 1 sadly, But you
never know.
No says. It it doesn't... The product timeline
doesn't reference the Bro.
(33:13):
It doesn't sell with. I guess Bro is
just repo there is when These guys Maybe
put this out.
Oh, touch a lot. To love competition. I
know. Oh, our ship rights says a few
exciting new announcements on the t.
The Virginia class Block 3 nuclear submarine. This
is 1 of the latest ones Uss, Indiana,
Ss N789.
(33:33):
That's resident in 3 d and 1 3
fiftieth.
And the Uss Jimmy Carter,
that was the Sea of class, the special
project. Yeah. Ss n 23.
Boats will be big in 1 03:50. Those
are both big boats.
So they'll be bigger than you think.
What else here?
Shall we can... Much this guts berserker from
(33:55):
Max factory.
Yeah. I think that... Oh, what's Like he's
having a... He looks like he's having a
bad day. I'm just thinking
says is from the anime Be preserve. Okay.
Well, it looks like he's having trouble lifting
the sword. That's what I don't not say
that. The sword definitely looks like, oh, I'm
very disciplined disappointed it. I'm very tired. I've
been working all day. I'm coming home. Honey.
What's for dinner. Oh, know they dragged the
(34:17):
swords along to be intimidating since scrape along
the ground. Oh, okay. Alright. Yeah. Alright.
You know, But that's that's gonna, like, dull
the dull the point though. I'm just. It's
a magically bleed. Along.
I don't worry. I don't worry about it.
Okay. Alright. Now what... How about this 1
from June 20 ninth. Terror from the year
5000.
(34:37):
The skate patch august 1
0, and no I can't 1 scale. Where
we This page does not exist. It didn't
load. Oh, no. What's what's... I wonder if
that's just been put there just to play
games with this.
Maybe.
That's totally the year 5000.
Terror, terror or terror.
What else we got here? When we got
(34:59):
some
dull tanks,
I assume again from another
Japanese Eye Ip.
Mc device buster dal power and gold tank.
1 to 1 scale. How the heck? Can
you have this in 1 to 1 scale?
Is this like they a really tiny. Coast
split cost playing or something?
(35:19):
Buster doll. Okay.
Interesting. Scale. My plastic model kit. I no
idea. Oh, dear.
Okay. Then we have the Armored railroad car
with the turn of a d 13 armored
armored car from Dew un military technology,
1 70 second scale an Armored Railway car.
There you go. Intriguing for your armored dr,
(35:40):
and then a lot more gaming size miniature.
It's a lot of dodge trucks here with
various options. Yeah.
Em, em m em b 01:11 p from
Ar model. Yeah. The Le ser prop. Yeah.
I like it. Very pm 1 cent. Yep.
And then we've got the June 20 seventh,
(36:01):
The REARE581
dash 5. This is definitely a 46.
Yeah. Definitely that. 19 resin parts and a
vacuum form canopy.
And then we've got the Japanese self defense
force wing set number 4, and the aircraft
set number 2 and 1 700 scale.
So there you go. Very nice. Fours,
(36:24):
f two's and a u 01:25
in various schemes.
In the the high mars that we already
talked about from Meng, and then a few
more from iron iron ship rights. The limbs
glass nuclear sub,
the Normal class sturgeon class, special projects version.
Well, it's certainly golden age for ship builders
(36:44):
isn't it? Oh, it is, especially if your
sub builders.
Yeah. And then a few more Gun,
the brave fighter of legend.
Dag and g x parts.
That.
That is a big gun, and he's got
a big cod piece, Jeff. Yeah Well, you
know, you gotta have a big cod piece
if you're gonna be 1 of these guys.
I guess.
(37:06):
Speaking of big cod pieces, then we have
Guilty Princess. Prison guard Louisa.
Yeah.
With a dead deer. Oh dear.
Oh dear.
Yeah. Yeah. We save more. No.
No. I'm... I'm just gonna go... I'm just
gonna stop at June 20 second the fifteenth
That's where we were. Yeah. The Ferrari Daytona
(37:28):
SP3 from alpha model. At 01:20 fourth. That's
the beauty. Mh. Look at that. Nice. Very
nice. I can't imagine the insurance on that.
It's funny. You know, I've going to
Facebook.
I think we talked about this before. But
Facebook, the Facebook algorithm constantly updates depending on
(37:48):
what you look at. On
marketplace.
And so I was with babysitting city my
grandson and he loves cars. And so we
were looking at various... As he calls them,
fancy cars.
Cool on Facebook on Facebook marketplace. So we
were clicking on some of these things... And
all of a sudden, I'm getting all these
cars on Facebook marketplace coming up, and they're
all like, crazy expensive. Cars. Someone just actually
(38:09):
selling... I don't even know what camera remember
what it was, but they're selling this thing,
and it looks amazing.
For 1200000.0
on Facebook market.
I mean, he's well, advertise, I guess. Yeah.
Guess That's that's gotta be all it is
anyway. Well, you know, the kids are into
that now But, you know what? I've been
seeing ads for Land rover.
Same thing. Yeah. Auto dot com, but it's
all land rover. They're showing me. So I
(38:30):
don't remember how... Doing searches on that, but
obviously, I did or I mentioned it at
some point.
Yeah. It's probably they're just following the show.
Maybe. Maybe. Exactly.
Okay. Let's talk about another cool guy. Our
good friend is. Our good friend, Steve at
Cold Tv man with lots of great deals.
Here we go.
Let's see what's new and exciting from our
good friend, Steve at C tv, man. First
(38:53):
of all, they're gonna be at the Ip
national convention or Naps as we call it.
July seventeenth to twentieth.
The best of the best are they're gonna
be there. They're gonna be in the vendors
room along with their friends from Black Heart
models.
They're looking forward to seeing many of their
customers and friends. They're gonna have 4 tables
of spaceships, monsters, including all your favorite star
trek, Star Wars 2001
(39:14):
space 19 99
and classic models. They'll be bringing kits from.
Am Polar lights, Atlanta Mpc Band I plus
aftermarket parts from Aztec dummy,
paragraph,
antenna control, voodoo Fx and more. Make sure
you, stop by there and tell them that
Stewart from the scale model podcast sent you.
(39:34):
They also got some of the pre orders,
some new arrivals. They've been busy packing getting
those
out to customers.
The source the beast from 20000 fathom from
X plus, due to T. That's the big
on,
1 70 second scale from Meng,
jurassic world beta and blue 01:30 fifth scale
from X plus. The Marilyn Monroe 19 54
(39:56):
Us o tour edition, 1 8 scale from
X plus.
And the June Paul the treaties from the
latest June minis series
set of movies, I should say the deluxe
edition, 01:12 scale from Meng.
Definitely worth checking out, and there's always. They
got all sorts of new stuff. They got
paint masks for the 2001
space station coming in.
(40:17):
You've got just
Oo and Oo.
So the
2001
space station, 2601
to 2600
scale them in the paint mask. They are
on back order, but you can join the
waiting list, and they'll get those to you
as soon as they come in. So make
sure you check out
all the exciting new things, and don't forget
to see them at Nat.
(40:38):
Remember that's called tv v man shop dot
com and call tv v man dot com.
And tell them the scale model podcast sent
you. Okay. What's on the bench? I haven't
had much time, but I'm getting... I'm getting
there. You know I'm finding, working on the
Cmo has really
shown me, you know, really break break things
down into small projects.
You know, kinda focus on, you know, a
(40:59):
little bit like that. And it's it... It's
working.
So I got the turret put together, got
them painted the blast bags and
the gray put on. The only thing I've
left off are the little tiny angie aircraft
guns because they're a little bit too fragile.
I'll wait till I got the turn mounted
and all that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I've got
2 out of the 3 decks on. Technically,
(41:20):
1. I've got a... I've I've dry fitted
the other 1. And I've gotta glue it
now, the the center 1.
And then when I get the other third
1 on, then going on will be the
aftermarket
wood deck. And then I can put on
all the other other little bits that I've
painted. So it It is it is coming
along. Quite What are plans for... Like, how
do you plan on gluing the wood deck
(41:40):
down? And I... Is there a way? Some
people some people
have said super gl. Some people have said
regular glue. I believe Harold from our club
said regular white glue.
I'm not sure. Apparently, it is that he.
I've seen some... A lot of Youtube videos
are saying you super clue. C gl. So...
There's also stuff like hobby tech and such
(42:00):
contact cement that... Yeah.
That's kinda what I was wondering. Yeah. Yeah.
I'm gonna do some research on that before
I put on. So first time I've done
it.
Yeah. So, yeah, If you're gonna go why
not start big. At least it didn't cost
me a ton of. I screw it up.
And if I do... If I do screw
it up, the actual deck itself, the plastic
has wood the wood thing engraved, and I
could. But I'm trying to do this save
(42:23):
me a ton of masking.
Because it's Yeah. I I don't think it'll
look nicer or too. Yeah. I think it
will too. So I know It's it it
it is it is coming along. It's apparently
simple build actually, which reflects the time it
was built. Like, I'm sure the new... What
is it? The border or the brand new,
who's made the someone's made a brand new
1 03:50. I think it was... Well, then
there's a 200 scale 1 as well... Yeah.
(42:45):
And they're both highly complex and a lot
more you know, but that's that's too much
for me. I I wouldn't I couldn't justify
it, and I wouldn't do I wouldn't do
a a good enough job to justify the
price.
On. Yeah... For this 1, I'm enjoying. And
since are kind of the epitome of sub
assemblies. Yeah. Exactly. Now 1 thing I have
realized I can see why people like buying
(43:06):
the aftermarket barrels.
Because, you know, the plastic 1 0 right,
but you do notice that that the caps
on, you know, there's no hollow thing. So
you either have to paint or do something
to put, like there's a cap on it.
Yeah where I... So I can see that.
So, you know, I have a feeling probably
when I build the
(43:27):
the fletcher.
I'm probably gonna look at... I don't think
it came with brass barrels, but I might
look at that for the 5 inch guns.
Just I think it does make enough enough
of a, of a difference. So... Yeah. Doing
that. And then
I was bad again, the bra deal sale
I can't even say I went in for
paint.
(43:47):
Because I didn't... I didn't buy any paint.
So
It been on my... It was on the
shelf, and it was still there when it
went to 20 percent off. So I bought
a Cut,
Brian Lane Mark 1 spit fire and 01:30
second scale.
I bought out because of course, I saw
Terry when he he brought his a couple
of years back to Heritage Khan, and it
is an absolutely beautiful kits got a resin
(44:09):
of the pilot resin figure.
The instructions are absolutely gorgeous. I'm gonna do
an inbox review at some point.
So I bought that. We also had a
partially started match box 01:30 second L kit.
That's the 1 like Jet built a wall
back. Yep.
Partially started 20 bucks, and it's in pretty
good shape. Can't go wrong. It's 1 of
those wanted when I was a kid I
(44:31):
saw that, and I drilled over in the
shop window a few times.
And then something new for me, off there
off their red red red tag sale or
whatever,
where you... If you buy 1 thing, you
get 10 percent 2 things you get 20
all the way up to 5 things.
They had a Tam 01:12 Suzuki rg g
02:50
motorcycle. I I've never built a motorcycle kit.
(44:51):
And it's me One's do fast. So this
was a good deal. I got it for
50 percent off, bought a couple other
dia and terrain stuff for the other 4
items. So,
yeah. So that'll that that that'll be interesting.
And then, of course, coming soon. Where the
hell am I gonna put all these?
Between that and the Bentley, and, yeah. Exactly.
So we... We'll you'll you'll have to stay
(45:12):
tuned and find out. Yeah. Jeff. What about
you, sir?
Well, I'd say, as I noted in the
notes it's summer, and I've done a lot...
There's a lot of stuff being done outside
and working on the house and this that
the other in babysitting sitting. That's another thing
too.
I too went to Brook. I can't remember.
I don't remember if we talked about this
at the show, the last show or whether
(45:33):
we did it
during our build night. Probably we did We
did it during our build night. Yeah. But
I did... III
applied the stewart to
the stewart approach to
bringing down the discount or raising the discount
percentage.
Bought a whole bunch of little crap, and
then I bought myself a near fit. X
01:48 scale bucket of your kit. Beautiful. New
(45:55):
berry and really nice kit. And it's lot
of bets to it. Now we should We
should also point how you... Not only did
you go in the store and do that,
but you also had your lovely wife and
your youngest daughter with you. Yes. Just because
I was leaving you were pulling in... And
we almost did each other in the parking
lot. Yes. Almost actually. He was supervised though.
I was supervised. Although, it was interesting. We
(46:15):
went in there. And I was talking to
to Brian or to,
Richard, Richard.
Almost blank on my head there. I talk
thinking about my brother.
Almost it's spent a lot time chatting with
Richard And as I'm chatting with Richard, my
wife and daughter or wandering around the store,
looking at everything else and basically talking about
God knows sweat. And then Richard mentioned,
(46:35):
well, it's nice to meet your family,
but I won't mention... I won't let them
know. They haven't discovered yet that there's a
bakery just around the corner, and they have
the most wonderful muffins and my daughter, literally,
the halfway down the store popped your head
over the stack of models since said. Muffins.
It's almost say there are muffins. Muffin. Here
boom, off they went. So
(46:56):
Have to remember that when Alicia Alicia is
more healthy.
Apparently it's a really good bakery. So... Yeah.
I heard great things about it. Yeah. But,
anyway, no. That... So that was fun. And...
Yeah. I did... I bought the same kind
of Ira around bits. They're lowest price things
I could find and then drop the drop
the discount or raise a discount up to
50 percent off got got the whole batch
for less than a hundred bucks canoe. Well,
(47:17):
there's some good deals there. Like, they had
a bunch of spit fire kits and some
other stuff, and I would've taken advantage of
it. If I haven't already got so many
48 skilled spit fires I did see a
nice... There's is a special hobby c fury.
And even at the 50 percent off, it
still would have been around 45 bucks. I
just couldn't quite As I told Richard, that
was a bridge too far.
Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Because I was... What was
(47:39):
interesting chatting with Richard He did mention that,
He's looking forward to being retired doing this
for, like, 35 years or something to that
effect. Yep. And
we may see him at the
Our club has the, in person build nights
every Wednesday night, and whom bill Nights the
same every Wednesday night.
Called gray butts. And he says, I maybe
(47:59):
wind up seeing you guys a great. Excellent.
Good stuff. Good stuff. Well, I did have
the offer when I was in there. I
did have an opportunity to meet the brand
new owner. Yeah. So the the store has
is gonna be changing hands.
I'm not gonna say anything else else right
now. I'll leave it up up to them
to make an announcement. But
the story is going to remain open even
(48:20):
after richard's retired, so that's good news. So
we're we're wishing the owner good luck. We
might get him on the show in the
ball.
That'd be great. It'd be nice. Yeah. I
think it'll be good good to see you
know, get get an opinion there. Especially when
you're taking over a long established business.
Yep. So the sale goes, so if you're
local, the sale goes brought sales until the
end of the month. So make sure you
(48:41):
take advantage. Get some more details on Facebook
or r r hobby dot c a. Yep.
Yep. And
with respect to what I've actually got on
my bench, I'm still working on the
the the frog foot this,
ukraine... It's not Ukraine Russian. I don't know
It's an ancient mold. Right. But it's actually
a pretty good mold. I think I talked
about that once before. And I'm also
(49:02):
getting to the paint stage on the goblin,
x f 85 goblin, the little parasite fighter
from the b 36 era. Mh.
The most important thing that I did in
the last 2 weeks. So so we had
a new a new club member expressed interest
in joining the group, and he he joined
us on their Facebook,
or on our Zoom call at last Wednesday
night. Mh. And he had
(49:24):
he had asked if anybody had an air
fix hand page o 400 kit because he
wanted to build it as it you. How
what a coincidence?
And Doesn't
Yeah. Exactly. I said, well, I have 1
with a few parts, Missing because Stuart was
kind enough to donate it to my cost
when I was working on my hand page.
And he said he'd be fine because he's
(49:44):
pretty comfortable fabric parts.
And then during our conversation and the bill
date,
I mean, it came up that I had
an affinity for a certain type of aircraft.
No as, you know, lighter than their vehicles
ZIEZ.
Yes. Yes. And he said, oh, well I
had picked up at a garage sail, a
(50:04):
hawk, 1 02:47
scale graft z kit. This plastic kit. I
said, well, I've got this 1 200 scale
and paper. And he said says, well, would
you like a plastic 1? I said, yes,
I would. So basically, now I have
this massive freaking fox.
It's great. It's great. So thanks very much,
Kevin. That was a was a very good
(50:25):
trade for... I think for both of us.
We both came out well on that. I
remember when you posted the the box on
on Facebook late. It brought back. I remember
it now. Remember seeing it in some stores
of that. Thing was massive.
So, yes. More z.
And it's got lighting in it too, which
is interesting. And I didn't I've been... I
started doing the research. I didn't realize there
were 2 graphs siblings.
Yeah. There was the first 1 which was
(50:47):
probably the most successful airship. Ever,
as far as traveling, but it never carried,
you know, much in the way of paying
customers
because it was
hydro... It was helium. Helium. It was the
only 1 they did with helium, and then
they came up with a graph 2,
which they finished just before the outbreak of
World war 2,
and it was
(51:08):
essentially, it was exactly the same design as
the Hindenburg and when the Hindenburg crashed well,
so did the graphs up
Gotta put it that to that. People people
get a bit nervous when they see what
what Hydrogen do. Oh.
Behold humility.
So that's all I've been That's what I've
been doing okay. Well, you've been you've been
busy. That's good. But, we, we we
(51:29):
we... The fans approve.
Sure. Alright. Mister Terry.
Yeah. Working on the dread dots. It's pretty
much just working on the dread nuts. In
the last couple of weeks here
in the paint booth, and now I'm kind
of
I'm pretty happy with how that
worked out un mask the experimental orange and
white
(51:49):
version and
surprisingly
not surprisingly in a couple places I should
have done better.
But
dealing with mass skin cuts and things like
that, But,
overall, very good.
Not a whole lot of cleanup to do.
Mh.
And now I'm I'm doing stuff like the
detail bits and, like, the gun med kinda
(52:12):
places, things like that.
And lining. So I've been doing panel lining
for a while now.
Just mostly just using the India inc in
future because it It's nice, dark and works
really well on these kind of things. Right.
What
yeah.
Just gonna say, while the cut the paint
(52:32):
up looks amazing and you've got me all
excited about trying that technique. So I'm gonna
understand The on the red 1, I did
the
complementary color technique. And I don't know. I
I think the
the pictures of made it of show notes
if not, I'll make sure you get copies
of those. Yeah. Please. So they've been shared
(52:52):
on on the Facebook page and... Yeah. The
looking good. That it can really, really good.
Yeah. It gives a lot of color depth
rather than black, which is kinda mud it.
It it's
It's like cancels out. You know, it's, like
the opposite. So it it cancels out the
color and just gives a lot of depth.
Right. Very cool.
Yeah. So
(53:14):
I've been... I I have must have been
doing that. A little bit of building on
that ph because I wanna do
try the same paint techniques on that. Right.
Right.
Very cool. Alrighty. Very nice. Alright. What we're
reading? I'm still reading the same 2 things.
Getting getting through them, clear thinking, turning ordinary
moments into extraordinary results by Shane Parish,
(53:34):
and a couple of chapters into D day
by Martin Go and I am already really
enjoying that. Martin's is a really good historical
writer. He's got a lot of stuff out
there. I don't know where he finds time
to write it all, but he does. So
highly
Highly recommend both of them. Hopefully I'll get
caught up, get a few more titles under
the belt during during the summer.
Jeff?
Yeah. I have been going kinda of crazy
(53:56):
as far as I was reading goes.
I picked up
over at...
Oh, is it not dollar store, but
Don't tree... No. It's not dollar tree. It's
the 1 where... It's just it's like it's
like goodwill, but it's not goodwill. Oh, okay.
Anyway,
anyway, they have books amongst other things.
(54:16):
And I I was my daughter loves to
go there and buy weird things because they
can buy weird things cheap, and you don't
feel guilty it. Mh.
So my wife and I went over with
her on her to give her a day
out, and I wound up buying a whole
bunch of books. So I picked up the
Johns
flood, which is by David Mc, and a
American writer, historian
(54:36):
pulitzer prize winner for for Truman and 17
70 I think it was... I know he
was written a whole bunch of great books
and I love his writing.
And I didn't know anything about this. This
is Georgetown Pennsylvania, and it was
happened in the end of the 18
18 hundreds,
when a
an artificial damned lake,
(54:59):
basically, the damn gave out. And it the
only reason the dam had been rebuilt,
it had given out before. It was rebuilt
because
the Carnegie and all the rich guys from
various places decided they wanted to go fishing.
And so they built a lake. They stocked
it. They got rid of the spill way
(55:20):
and put a big fish barrier over the
spill way. So nothing could get out of
the lake, because they didn't want their expensive
fish to go down to the H.
Hoops sent. And and and then they had
the worst weather in, like, a century, and
There was a... It was an earth and
dam. The water crust the dam right in
the center and washed it completely out. Mh.
(55:41):
And you. And you had a tidal wave
of roughly 76 feet high,
go care down these valleys and take out
the town of Johns plus a couple of
other smaller settlements on the world.
To 2 2200 people died
in a town that was, like, maybe 20000
people to start with. Mh. And it was
just a a nightmare, and it's... Anyway, very
(56:03):
interesting story,
definitely worth reading, highly recommended it, and it's
actually not a really long book either. It's
a A good quick read. The other 1
I picked up another Ain't another 1 I
picked up was the lost city of the
Monkey gods,
Monkey god, by Douglas Preston,
who is,
Preston and Child, famous for.
The the relic and various other books that
(56:24):
they've written over the years.
Anyway, and this was about the the... The
use of Lidar technology
to uncover a hidden city in the Central
American jungles, and I think it was Honduras.
Very interesting story as well. And... But it
was also... It wasn't just that. It was
also the story about
about
parasitic diseases because he caught 1,
(56:44):
and essentially, she... It wasn't just a isis,
but it was something essentially that would eventually
eat his face off.
Hate when that happens. I know. I don't
know. And there's no there's no
consistent treatment because it affects everybody differently depending
on genetic makeup piece. This is why I
don't go down there. It's... And or live
anywhere that doesn't get a good hard freeze
Yeah. Because things will eat your face off.
(57:06):
I'm. Yeah. Exactly. I'll take triggers any day.
Yeah. But the the infuriating thing about it
is it's 1 of these diseases, and there
are a number of parasitic diseases.
That,
kill
millions and millions of people and name millions
of millions of people annually around the world
But the drug companies absolutely have no interest
in in working up any kind of solutions
(57:28):
for them. Exactly. These there's no money in
it. They're all poor.
They're all poor people that die.
So it's kind of 1 of those kinds
of stories that makes you infuriated This guy
got all the treat best treatment in the
world from the National Institute of health as
because they were they were treated as an
experimental group, and it was free.
Mh. And also because he's a major writer.
(57:48):
Yeah. If you you kinda get a little.
Little pissed about that. Yep. Yeah.
Anyway, the last 1 I picked up was
another 1
called the danger tree, and I picked it
up just speak because on the front, it
was highly recommended as in gross pros I
haven't read in grossing pros too often.
And it's a really en grossing
well written beautiful story, of family history,
(58:11):
from Newfoundland,
about basically the history of Newfoundland,
and world war 1, and, because world war
1, there was a a, huge number of
guys from Newfoundland who signed up just to
get the hell from Newfoundland.
And nobody came back. Yeah.
Yeah. Anyway, very interesting story.
It's great time to reading the hammock by
the lake. That's what I was doing today.
Very nice. Very good. I always thought in
(58:33):
in gross pros was was all your articles
for for Rt t and beaver tales. That
that doesn't qualify. No okay. This is This
is really fun. It's a... It's it's it's
sad, fun, interesting,
true. It's kinda like you you recognize recognized
a lot of these people from families that
you'd known, including your own. That kind of
rain. Anyway cool. Okay. Recommended. Awesome. Terry. How
(58:55):
about you, sir?
Still reading. I'm in, book 2 of Adrian
in Tc shards of earth series,
20 percent in, and I think, I... This
guy's His wheelhouse is all it Alien, human
and
unknown. Right. Yep. It's fantastic.
Just the
the the shards... It's like shards of earth.
Is the the title of the first book,
(59:17):
and it really is. Human humanity has split
into
various groups as well. It's not like, doom
far future where
where they're
almost different species by that point. Mh.
It... It's not that. It's it's political.
And the aliens are are part of that
as well, and it's
(59:38):
On I don't know where this is going.
III say that with everything because it's it's
too early to tell. It's it's already shifting.
Very cool. Okay. And then I'm reading the
hell, Omni bus.
At that time. It's it's a great foot.
And trying to catch up on
some issues of science and scientific Americans instead
of just sitting there playing on the ipad
(59:58):
while Yeah eating breakfast or something. Yeah. I
gotta do more more more of that. Too
just kinda, you know, just instead of mindless
scrolling Facebook or... Yeah.
These things to
tell people
all the time times. Like, well, you don't
keep up with this.
Exactly. I used to love scientific American. I
mean, my dad had a subscription for since
(01:00:19):
the mid sixties. And It's still solid. It's
still really it's such a good magazine and
and
half at least half the articles, I can't
quite figure out
can't quite figure out what they're talking about
half the time. But
but even at that, I still feel smarter
at the end of reading it. Yep. Yep.
Exactly.
Well, I rarely in... I get science as
(01:00:41):
well. And that's a weekly in my Gods.
It's just so much material. Yeah. I rarely
go in and
read the research articles because those are,
you know, those are well above, but all
the summaries and everything else in the news
is is fantastic. And just articles.
Yeah.
Research papers
in something like science can be... If if
(01:01:01):
I'm familiar enough with the field,
I can get something out of it. Otherwise,
I'll I'll just go and look at
the bits and pieces that I can get
out of it. Very Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah.
I think if we spent less time on
social media more time
going through some hard hard stuff like that.
I think the world would be a much
better place Yeah.
Okay. Also making the world a much better
(01:01:23):
place Our buddy Sean from Sean's custom model
tools.
Let's see what he has to say today.
Now we're gonna talk a bit about Sean's
custom model tools, 1 of our other sponsors
of the scale model podcast.
Some very cool things, both 3 d printed
and the Goodman super sanding blocks.
Let's start with the micro set micro soul
(01:01:44):
D cal set bottle stand.
This is
purposely designed for the micro scale set and
soul.
Most models over the years. They've tipped these
bottles over. So,
this is a very handy thing at 14
95.
You can put them both together. They're printed
in blue and red for easy identification. Comes
(01:02:04):
with a black based, and they're actually have
little magnets on it. So helps keeps them
in place. Definitely a good deal. I use
mine the time, and I can well recommend
them. Let's talk a bit about those goodman
model super sanding blocks. Namely the value pack
combo for 28 99.
You get the 80 grit, 1 80 grit,
02/23/2406
(01:02:27):
hundred
just an amazing set,
just what you need, and you can also...
If you want, you can also get a
sanding super sanding block stand it, which also
really makes life a little bit easier, helps
helps things keep it organized.
The other thing too is they have, they
have the awesome model tape dispenser
(01:02:49):
for,
your various tapes. It's basically A3D printed thing.
You put spool of your tape. Got a
little razor blade to help cut it, and
it's
really, really good design.
So, yeah, works out really well and yours
for 19 95.
So check out these and other amazing deals
at Sean's custom model tools dot com,
(01:03:13):
and also on Facebook and tell them that
the scale model podcast sent you. Okay. The
things we say. Sean's
Sean's tape dispenser.
Yeah. I got, you know, perform Y service
on these yeah. This... I love that experimental
dread not. I love that thing. That tape
dispenser with the razor blade. It's just... Yeah.
(01:03:33):
Utility blade. You can't you can't beat it.
Okay. Edward has their latest info Magazine.
Considering this is this is like a combination
magazine and catalog. They do every month.
Considering it's free, it's excellent quality. We've covered
it before.
So they... This time they're talking about Australian
Mark 16 spit fires,
(01:03:55):
Icc Red Do.
So BF10 nines fall 1 nineties,
some articles on the oil cam paying a
mustang, a bull, mustang day,
aerial war in Ukraine, Russian airports under fire.
So
lots of good stuff, and, of course, all
the, some pictures
always good to see what they're working on.
(01:04:18):
They did mention they are working on p
forties,
01:48
scale, so their work continue on that. I
know a lot of people are excited about
that. Those are all gonna be new tools.
Oh, what's the... I don't think you the
the model Ta hawk
flu. Oh, this one's e. Yeah. Starting on
the e. Yeah. But you have to kit
(01:04:38):
bash dash, like, 3 kits
to make 1 of those and I forget
what it was. Like, okay or something like
that. I'm sure they will. I won't be
Served. Yeah. They're they're.
Yep. They're they're they're they're pretty good.
They're also working on molds for other versions
of 0VA6M5A6M7
and a 2 seat A6M2
(01:04:59):
dash k,
as well as molds for the mig 21
f. Both are projects for next year.
Zeros will be introduced in the first half
of the year and the mig 21 in
the second half. So absolutely no need for
us to worry about
abandoning those those projects.
So, there we go. So, yeah,
(01:05:19):
the p 40 is currently what's the technologist
development of the molds is underway as well
as minor
modifications to the structure.
I am assuming the second half of July
I will see the first molds.
And on e day at the end of
temper, the plastic will be available for viewing.
At that time, the plastic may not be
complete but 3 or 4 screws out of
a total of 6.
Cool. And November and Tel ford, we might
(01:05:42):
be introduced in the complete kit and selling
it. In prep production form and white in
white box is similar to what they did
for the mustang at Easter.
So again, Wall worth checking his editorial always
get every month. A good kinda what they're
doing behind the scenes,
stuff like that. They have some good articles.
If you're a mustang fan.
This one's definitely a must download.
(01:06:03):
They they they they they take a ride
in some re restored ones, etcetera.
Ton of pictures
definitely worth worth worth worth checking out. So
that is from edward ward.
Okay. And
what's the space in miniature?
Hey space in miniature, Mike.
Does these great. At you a space
(01:06:26):
dot com and you'll get a collection of
some of the best reference material for real
space subjects that you're gonna ever want. Yeah.
And I have been waiting,
and looking for research material on the Saturn
5 as I slowly build up the nerve
to start building some of my... I have
a couple of saturn five's lying around. Mh.
And he he has recently the most recent
(01:06:48):
space and miniature series number 10 is on
the Saturn 5. A guide for scale model
builders. It's not a history of the wrong
rocket. It's not a developmental history. It is
purely information for model builders,
and
it... On, on that
on that basis, it score very highly. I
highly recommend this. Yeah. It's good stuff. It's
(01:07:08):
really good stuff, and it's really helpful. Great
pictures, color pictures
in the Pdf version that I've got. Now
I understand the a paper version if you
buy that, it the pictures are black and
white. Mh. But,
I would just get the Pdf version myself
because then I can do my little
finger finger zoom in and see what exactly
what I wanna see. It's it's just a
(01:07:28):
Yep. Really good publication and a publication. If
you're interested in, building a model of a
Saturn 5. This is what you wanna get.
Very cool. I should point out our good
friends of C Tv man have it available
for pre order.
For the book for 12 99 Us. You
can reorder But so like, basically, I I
went online Paypal,
like, Boom had the entertainment within 5 minutes.
(01:07:50):
Yeah Exactly.
Exactly. I'm gonna I'm gonna put up their
link as well, and there it is new
Sim. Yep. So lots of stuff happening and
what they're...
And what they're working on. So very, very
cool. Okay.
You just don't realize.
Until you'll really... I mean, obviously, at at
some level you do, but you just... It's
amazing the complexity of these machines. Call, the
(01:08:13):
Saturn 5, the most complex
machine ever devised by man. Absolutely incredible that
they could come up with this within. Mh.
Basically 10 years. Yeah.
Just amazing. You throw enough money at anything.
You know?
I am not sure. You know, not everybody
can do that. I mean, nothing no
they built it and, yeah, I forget what
portion of the Us Gdp, the space program
(01:08:34):
was at the time. So you had...
You built that knowledge
quickly from... Essentially, from the end of world
war too. Yeah. Yep. Within 20 years, they
were getting ready to put men in orbit.
Yeah. I know. It's absolutely. It wasn't. Yeah.
And and, you know, to people who complain
about the cost. Well, that's a lot cheaper
than a nuclear war. So I think this
is so bad. This is true. Something useful.
(01:08:56):
Alright yeah. Terry. What about you? Yeah. Jeff's
mention of
Douglas Preston book reminded me of Alfred Lynn.
Who was a national geographic explorer in a
couple series where he went in essentially into
the bush
around the world with a drone mounted Lidar
system.
And looking for
(01:09:18):
ancient civilizations settlements, that kind of stuff.
And between
between the the the space mounted and stuff,
which you can see large stuff and his
the can see small stuff. They found all
kinds of stuff. And, like.
Central America, South America,
it's now thought finding all these settlements that
there were as many people there as were
(01:09:38):
in Europe at any given time before
the Spanish arrived and,
you know,
disease wiped everybody out. Yeah. Yeah. And I
see national geographic has 3 4 full episodes
here the... There's more than that.
I don't know where you can find them
all, but there's some on Youtube. It's well
worth watching. Yep. I'm just looking you sent
(01:09:59):
here.
He lost
chunk of his leg
in a motorcycle accident. And so he's doing
all of this stuff with a pros prestigious
as well. Oh, wow. And he is just
He's just relentless. He's fantastic.
This is amazing he meet are amazing. And
in Honduras... I think it was Honduras.
Because all the drugs and everything else are
(01:10:21):
It was... Yeah. It was honduras. It just...
I just didn't wanna... I wasn't... I wanna
be absolutely sure of it. But, definitely, that's
the that's the area. And it's the whole...
The whole place is full. It's full cities.
So and an Army sent,
they escorted his team into there as well.
And then the gut Army guys on their
off time are helping with the digs.
Yeah. Super involved with it. And Well, he's
(01:10:43):
hopefully
helping to to bring this this culture of
learning their the the the,
their ancestors even more. Now that they know
what to look for.
They're finding these houses that were, like, you
know, here,
in my town, the Rich guys from Chicago
would come out here in the summertime because
(01:11:03):
Chicago was just well trained.
It's like... And that's these houses were there
too. They looked like summer homes of wealthy
people that we get out of the cities.
During the tough parts of the year, and
then,
at least that's the 1 that he found
there, but literally around the world.
I now I now know what I'm gonna
be washing the next little while. Well, look
at look at how long the first the
(01:11:24):
first episode is. Your how hours.
No. The first 1 is 4 and a
4 and a half hour. So that's 4...
Yeah. I didn't even open. I just found
the link. I think it's just lost all
of them. So, yeah 10 1. Also, there's
it. Yeah.
Mega episode. It mega the whole of season
1 maybe. Cool. That could be.
Yeah. That's yeah I'm finding more of stone...
(01:11:46):
They're still finding more of stone.
You had me at lost cities.
Exactly. Yeah He's he's great. I hope they
do more with them. I'll have to check
to see if they've done more. Very cool.
K, Craig. Yeah.
Alrighty. Sometime for summer
set up your your monitor in front of
your your build station there and and and
watch something... A away you go.
Educational and then lose yourself watching it, and
(01:12:08):
none nonstop and not building your model building.
Yeah. That's the problem. That's my problem and
exactly.
Incredible, Petra. Very cool.
Okay. So we're also sponsored by return to
kit form from Brett and Chrissy. It was
just Brett birthday recently. So happy birthday to
Brett.

we're gonna be taking a little break for
the summer, but we will be back in
early September and you'll still see us on
Facebook

(01:13:10):
Take a break.
So anything else I forgotten gentlemen? Nope.
Alright. So for episode 144.
My name is Stuart Clark. I'm Jeff Holland.
Terry Me reminding you that we're making the
summer off to build more models. So stay
hydrated and share your builds. Yeah. See you
and so Tab
(01:13:30):
you in september. There we go. Now singing.
Alright. Thank you and be well.
