Cora and her sisters are American heiresses to a generous dowry that they can’t quite acquire until they’ve each met one specific requirement: marry a suitable husband. But since their legitimacy is questioned among New Yorkers and accents are more fun, Cora decides she and her sisters will go across the pond to search for their matches - but only long enough to obtain their dowries, of course. When Cora meets the money-stricken Earl of Devonworth - Leo - a devious plan ensues. They will fake marry for a few years, perhaps have some heirs, and then get divorced and go their separate ways after Cora has shared part of her dowry. They won’t fall in love.
