Our special guest this episode is legendary music executive, Jerry Greenberg. His career first started in 1967 when he became the assistant to Gerald Wexler who was at the time vice president of Atlantic records. Through his hard work and strong ear for music Jerry became the President of Atlantic records in 1974, making him the youngest person of any major record company in the recording industry to receive that title. During his helm as President he signed acts like Abba, The Blues Brothers, Genesis, TS Monk, Chic and Nile Rogers. In 1993 he also served as president of Michael Jackson’s label MJJ Music.
In this interview I chat with Jerry about his upbringing in Connecticut, his early love for music, he shares the story of how he broke into the industry and become president of Atlantic records, we get into how he signed acts like Abba and Nile Rogers, and his rise to become president of Michael Jackson’s label MJJ Music.
Jerry’s life is so amazing and prolific that it’s nearly impossible for me to explain his life's work in this introduction but there are incredible stories in this interview that you certainly don’t want to miss.
