Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, and welcome to simple man sermons, the preachings of
a simple man called by God to share the good
news of Jesus Christ. So this week in reading, I
came across a passage that I wanted to share that,
by God's grace, will become a teaching Blessed be the

(00:24):
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according
to his abundant mercy, has begotten us again to a
living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled that does not fade away,
reserved in heaven for you who are kept by the

(00:48):
power of God. This hopefully will be an encouragement to
those on the way, the straight and narrow path. If
you've been on it for a while, it can become weary.
Not an easy path, Jesus says, the opposite enter.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
By the narrow gate. For wide is the gate, and
broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there
are many who go in by it, because narrow is
the gate, and difficult is the way which leads to life,
and there are a few who find it. The thing
about difficult hikes, if you are a hiker or a runner.
The thing about a difficult path up a mountain, or

(01:29):
you know, difficult path in general, is it can be
discouraging at times, it can be daunting. So I hope
this is an encouragement to those that are on the path,
those that are saved, that are walking the way, that
are going the way, that are in Christ. This passage
that I read earlier to an inheritance incorruptible, and then

(01:54):
the file that does not fade away, reserved in heaven
for you who are kept by the power of God, incorruptible,
that does not fade away. Reminds me of a lot
of verses, but one he who began in good work,
and you will bring it to completion until the day

(02:16):
of Christ Jesus. It's not about you, It's about him,
it says in that first verse. We read by the
power of God. Whose power your power? My power? No,
it's by the power of God. When David stood up
against Goliath, a giant with armor and a sword, and

(02:38):
he a shepherd boy with a sling and a stone,
was it by his might and his power? No, David
says right before he goes into battle. The battle is
the Lord. He will deliver you into my hand. The
battle is the Lord's. It's not about your strength. If
it was about your strength and my strength, we'd all fail.
But that's the encouraging part is it's not about our strength.

(02:59):
It's by the power of God. And God is powerful.
God is all powerful. He can do all things, which
leads me to another verse. I can do all things
through Christ, who strengthens me. Right, not because you are strong,
because God is strong, not because you are so good,

(03:19):
because Jesus is so good, not because you are so
great at saving yourself, but because Christ is so great
a savior. It's not about your strength. It's about God's strength,
by the power of God, not your power. So if
you feel discouraged, if you feel wary, remember there is

(03:44):
a rest for the people of God. It is written
there remains therefore a rest for the people of God.
God bless the Sabbath day, and how would the Sabbath
day is a day of rest, to reflect, to rest
because it's in God's hands. It's not all about what
you can do. What you can you can do you

(04:05):
can do. Remember God, Remember he commands us to rest.
We are to rest in Him because He's got it
he can do all things. It's by the power of God.
I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.
There is a verse one of my favorites, that says,

(04:28):
while I was yet without strength, in due time, Christ
died for the un goodly. There's so much deep theology
in this one small passage from Romans. While I was
yet without strength in due time, Christ died for the ungodly.
Who did he die for the awesome, the righteous, the

(04:50):
so good? No, the ungodly. And I got this from
one of the I think Charles Spurgeon sermons from the
eighteen fifties or sixties. But he says, Satan will come
at you and come at you, and come at you
and say you're ungodly. You're ungodly or ungodly, We'll cut
his head off with his own sword. You say, I
am ungodly. That's why Christ died for me. That's why

(05:13):
I needed Christ to die for me, Not because I'm
so good, but because I'm not. While I was yet
without strength and due time, Christ died for the ungodly.
Satan can say many things, but he can't say that
you are not ungodly. In fact, that's what it will
accuse you of him, one way or another, being ungodly,
being not like God, being not good enough. Of course,

(05:33):
you're not good enough. If you were good enough on
your own, if you could attain salvation without Christ, then
Christ would have died for nothing. Christ died for the
very fact that you could not save yourself. That you
are ungodly, because you need strength from Him, while I
was yet without strength. In due time, Christ died for
the ungodly, for you and for me. There is therefore

(05:59):
now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that
is in Christ. Jesus. Grace, by definition, is unearned. That's
kind of the point of it. It was works, it
wouldn't be grace. Another verse from Romans. But to him

(06:23):
who does not work, but believes on him who justifies
the un goodly, who justifies the un goodly, Blessed are
those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not
impune sin. Another verse in Romans. Therefore, having been justified

(06:44):
by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus, Christ,
through whom we also have access by faith into the
grace in which we stand and rejoice in hope of
the glory of God. And not only that, but we
also glory and tribulation, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance, and perseverance,

(07:05):
character and character. Hope. Now, hope does not disappoint, because
the love of God has been poured out in our
hearts by the Holy Spirit, who is given to us.
For when we were still without strength and due time,
Christ died for the ungodly, for scarcely for a righteous
man will one die. Yet perhaps for a good man,

(07:25):
someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates his
own love towards us, and that while we were still sinners,
Christ died for us. Much more than, having now been
justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath
through him. For if when we were enemies we were

(07:47):
reconciled to God for the death of his son, much more,
having been reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
And not only that, but we also rejoice in God
through our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom we have now
received the reconciliation. I want to point out a few
things here having now been justified, having been reconciled, rejoice

(08:17):
in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we
have now received the reconciliation. God sees the end from
the beginning, He who began a good work, and you
will bring it to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
It's by the power of God. If God does it,
who can undo it. This is not a prophecy right.

(08:40):
But you will stumble along the way. You will make
wrong choices, you will mess up, You will even sin.
But if you are truly in Christ, you have been
saved from that sin. Not a license to sin, but
a freedom out of sin. Use that strength to not

(09:00):
sin be in Christ Romans eight. There is therefore now
no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who
do not walk according to the flesh, but according to
the spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life
in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law
of sin and death. For what the law could not do,

(09:21):
and that it was weak through the flesh. God did
by sending his own son in the likeness of sinful
flesh on account of sin. He condemned sin in the flesh,
that the righteous requirements of the law might be fulfilled
in us, who do not walk according to the flesh,
but according to the spirit. That's the beginning of Romans eight.

(09:42):
This is also Romans eight. For as many as are
led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons
of God. For you did not receive the spirit of
bondads again to fear, but you receive the spirit of adoption,
by whom we cry Abbah Father. The Spirit himself spares
ways with our spirits, that we are children of God.

(10:02):
And if children, then heirs heirs of God and joint
heirs with Christ. Now this is me here talking. If
you have children, and you know the love you have
for those children. If your children make mistakes, you still
love your children. Do they they stop being your children?
Of course not. If you are a child of God,

(10:26):
you should set your mind on God and seek the
narrow path and seek to grow closer to God. Realize
it's God that saved you by his strength. It's God
that keeps you by his strength. Again, if it was
contingent on us, if it was about if we could
do it in our strength, no one would. It's about

(10:46):
the love of God, for his rich and mercy and
the saving power of Christ. While we were still sinners,
Christ died for us. I'm gonna read the passage again
that we started with. Grace to you and peace be multiplied.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ,
who according to his abundant mercy, has begotten us again
to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ

(11:09):
from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled that
does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you who
are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation,
ready to be revealed in the last time. You'll find
that in First Peter, incorruptible that does not fade away,

(11:34):
kept by the power of God. Thanks for listening, and
have a blessed day.
