Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, and welcome to simple man sermons, the preachings of
a simple man called by God to share the good
news of Jesus Christ. Have we, as Christians become cowardly
in this world? Have we shied away from speaking the truth?
(00:28):
I'm going to read a passage from the Gospel of Matthew. Behold,
I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore,
be wise as serpent and harmless as doves. But beware
of men, for they will deliver you up to councils
and scourge you in their synagogues, who will be brought
(00:50):
before governors and kings for my sake as a testimony
to them and to the gentiles. But when they deliver
you up, do not worry about how were what you
should speak, for it will be given to you in
that hour what you should speak, for it is not
you who speak, but the spirit of your Father who
speaks in you. Now, brother will deliver a brother to death,
(01:13):
and father his children and children will rise up against
parents and cause them to be put to death. And
you will be hated by all for my name's sake.
But he who endures to the end will be saved.
When they persecute you in this city, flee to another.
For assuredly I say to you you will not have
gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of
(01:34):
Man comes. A disciple is not above his teacher, nor
a servant above his master. It is enough for a
disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant
like his master. If they call the master of the
house beels above, how much more will they call those
of his household. Therefore, do not fear them, for there
(01:58):
is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden
that will not be known. For whatever I tell you
in the dark, speak in the light, and whatever you
hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. And do
not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill
(02:22):
the soul. But rather fear him who is able to
destroy both body and soul. In hell, are not two
sparrows sold for a copper coin, and not one of
them falls to the ground apart from your father's will,
But the very hairs of your head are all numbered,
(02:44):
do not fear. Therefore you are of more value than
many sparrows. Therefore, whoever confesses me before men, I will
also confess him before my Father, who is in heaven.
But whoever denies me before men, I will also deny
before my Father, who is in heaven. Do not think
(03:09):
that I came to bring peace on earth. I did
not come to bring peace but a sword. For I
have come to set a man against his father, and
a daughter against her mother, and a daughter in law
against her mother in law. And a man's enemies will
be those of his own household. He who loves father
or mother more than me is not worthy of me.
(03:31):
And he who loves son or daughter more than me
is not worthy of me. And he who does not
take up his cross and follow me is not worthy
of me. He who finds his life will lose it,
and he who loses his life for my sake will
find it. This is probably not the most happy, joyful teaching,
(03:56):
but Jesus taught it, so I'm saying it. Have we
become so afraid in today's culture. Jesus went to death
for what he believed in what he professed, and it
is believed, although extra biblical, that all the Disciples save
(04:18):
John were martyred, were killed for their faith, killed in brutal,
horrific ways for their faith. They were willing to die
for professing Jesus. And it seems like many maybe this
doesn't apply to you. I'm going to use the re
as in the we as in the Royal we. We
(04:39):
have become so soft and afraid, many many who would
call themselves Christian, that we won't even profess Christ or
the things that Christ taught because we might be called
a name, even a false name, that it's not true.
Look at how many names they call Jesus that weren't true.
(05:00):
Because we might be called a name here in America,
you have a little chance right now of being beheaded,
of being crucified upside down, of being burned alive for
confessing the truth. But people have stopped, largely, I think,
even Christians professing the truth because they might get called
the name. They might be called intolerant, a bigot, outdated,
(05:27):
and equated not cool. Are you freaking kidding me? How
many of you shy away from the topic of marriage
being between a man and a woman. Jesus talks about marriage.
He talks about it between a man and a woman,
and that's the only way that he talks about it.
(05:47):
And Jesus was the word, and the word was with
God and the world was God. And the Word says,
if a man lies with a man as he lies
with a woman, it is in a Boma nation. It
is in a Bomba nation. You can wrap a rainbow
flagon and throw some sprinkles, but it's freaking gross. It's
an a Bomba nation. It should not be seen as
(06:08):
acceptable or marriage, and it should not be keeping you
from professing what the Word of God says, because you
might be called a name, or intolerant or not cool.
A tree is known by its fruit. If every man
and woman that were called to, because celibacy is also
acceptable and can be very useful, if every man and
(06:32):
woman who was called to did it into a holy
union and had a marriage and had children, there would
be a beautiful thing for our culture, our society as
it was in times past. If every man and woman
jender things the whole other thing, I probably I'm just
using this as one small example. If every man and
(06:54):
woman followed some perverse lust, same sex attraction, the human
race would stop in one generation. It would cease to exist.
A tree is known by its fruit. You should not
shy away from that because it's an unpopular opinion. It's
the truth. You shall know the truth, and the truth
(07:16):
shall make you free. If the whole world is putting
their head in the sand, the world is a giant
oscrich with its butt in the air, denying and hiding
from the truth. We should not hide from the truth.
We should not shy away from the truth. How many
of us today shy away from the truth because forget
(07:38):
about being put to death or being beaten with many stripes.
How many times was Paul beaten for speaking the truth.
We don't want to be called a name. We don't
want to be called intolerant. And you will be hated
by all for my namesake. But he endures to the end,
will be saved. Do not think that I can to
bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring
(07:59):
peace a sword. Now. I am not telling you to
go out and make trouble for the sake of causing trouble.
I'm not saying that. But the world, like the culture,
this is not the first time. Many times in time past,
the culture has hated the truth because it likes to
(08:19):
wallow in sin. I can't speak for what America was
like generations ago. I wasn't alive then, and I think
fake nostalgia can be a dangerous drug. But I do
know today that our culture is by a large hostile
to the truth of the Gospel, to the truth of
the Word of God. That's the time that you live in.
God doesn't make mistakes. You weren't made for another era.
(08:42):
You often think about, Oh, how cool would it be
if I was an Old West cowboy, or if I
was around during the American Revolution, or you know, ancient Rome.
God doesn't make mistakes. You were born in this time,
in this place. Now you are here now today, in
this culture, in this society. Should not seek trouble, We
(09:03):
should seek peace. But we should not shrink back from
the truth that is the Gospel from Jesus Christ. Now,
we're not to convert with the edge of the sword
other religions do that. We're not to torture people into
becoming Christians. But that doesn't mean we shy away from
(09:23):
the truth that we Christians are the only true religion.
There is no other name under Heaven by which men
can be saved. There is salvation and no other name.
If you believe in Jesus, you must believe that he
is the only way to get to Heaven. You don't
get there by being a good person. You don't get
(09:44):
there by any of this new age hippie crap. You
don't get there by any other religion. You don't And
if you shy away from that, you're not loving your neighbor.
That's the opposite of loving your neighbor, because if you
loved your neighbor, you would not want him to perish
an eternal fire. Jesus often talks about hell as a
real place, at actual place that people go. There is
(10:08):
salvation in no other name. You shying away from Jesus,
not wanting to rock the boat is not helping your neighbor.
It's not loving your neighbor. It's doing perhaps the worst
disservice you could do to another man by letting him
go to hell. If you loved your neighbor, you would
want to save him again. We don't do that by
the sword. We don't do that by waterboarding, we don't
do that by beating. But we do it by sharing
(10:30):
the truth. And if you're afraid to share the truth
of the Gospel of Christ, I don't know what to
tell you. Don't be surprised if you're persecuted. Bible says
you will have tribulation. Jesus says here you will be
hated by all for my namesake, But he endures to
the end will be saved. You should not fear the
(10:52):
opinion of men over the word of God. Do not
fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.
But rather fear him who is able to destroy both
soul and a body in hell. From the Gospel of Matthew,
the son of Man will send out his angels, and
(11:13):
they will gather out of his kingdom all those who
offend and those who practice lawlessness, and will cast them
into the furnace of fire, and there will be wailing
and gnashing of teeth. Then the righteous will shine forth
as the sun in the kingdom of the Father. He
(11:33):
who has ears to hear, let him hear. Now. God
is not slack concerning judgment as some consider slackness. But
he is long suffering, impatient, giving people an opportunity to repent.
But make no mistake, there will be a day of reckoning.
You should not shy away from the truth. Abortion is
another big one in today's world. It is not loving
(11:55):
to kill a child. Is not loving to kill a baby?
Would you not even be willing to save children for
the sake of being called intolerant or that you somehow
don't like women. What a disgusting way they twist that
supposed to care about women and women's rights. What about
(12:16):
the rights of the women that are getting killed in
the womb? What about those women? Do those women not count?
Only certain kinds of women have rights. It's disgusting and
we should call it as such. It is an abomination.
It is horrible to kill a baby. Matthew eighteen. Whoever
receives one little child like this and my name receives me.
(12:37):
But whoever causes one of these little ones who believes
in me to sin, it would be better for him
if a millstone were hung around his neck, and that
he were drowned in the depth of the sea. Woe
to the world because of offenses, for offenses must come,
But woe to the man by whom the offense comes.
What we read earlier in the Gospel of when now
(13:01):
families being against each other, He didn't you know, come
to bring peace but a sword, and talks about even
family members being against each other. Likely in your family
you have people that are okay with killing babies. You
should not be okay with that. Again, you should not
go out looking for trouble, but you should not shy
away from the opinion that killing babies is not okay.
(13:25):
A tree is known by its fruit. If everybody, if
ever just a tree, is known by its true if
everybody aborted their children, the human race would cease to
exist in one generation. Kind of like the same sex
attraction thing, kind of like homosexuality. You can call it
woman's rights, or you can wrap a rainbow flag around it.
It's disgusting, it's evil, and we should call it as such.
(13:49):
If we can't call killing babies evil, we have a problem.
If we won't stand up and say no, that's not okay,
is it? Anyway? I wonder why a lot of people
who aren't Christians are turning away from Christianity. Wonder what
we stand for if we don't even stand for that.
(14:10):
Satan trying to cause men to harm themselves is nothing new.
Do you remember the man at the Tombs and the
Gospel cutting himself or Satan all the way back in
the beginning in the garden convincing Adam needed to bring
(14:30):
death upon themselves. That's nothing new. If we look at
many of the sick, twisted things in our culture today, homosexuality,
people mutilating their own genitals, killing babies, sacrificing babies on
the altar of convenience. It's nothing new. I have not
(14:54):
progressed into some you know, more advanced human beings, some
more advanced culture. We have regressed into sin. All those things.
Death is the end of those all those things, Death
is the fruit of those. All who hate me love death.
You'll find that in Proverbs. All who hate me love
(15:19):
death because they hate God, or they're being influenced by
something evil that hates God, who loves death, who hates you,
because you are made in the image of God. So
I say, stand firm, gird your loins, be strong, and
be brave, and stand for the truth. Stand for life,
stand for Christ, who is the way, the only way.
(15:43):
He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and
we must proclaim it. We are called to proclaim the
beautiful truth of Christ. Do not be afraid, Thanks, and
have a blessed day.
