Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello, and welcome to simple man sermons, the preachings of
a simple man called by God to share the good
news of Jesus Christ.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
Today.
Speaker 1 (00:16):
Let's look at or start in verse John five. We
know that whoever is born of God does not sin.
But he who has been born of God keeps himself,
and the wicked one does not touch him. We know
that we are of God, and the whole world lies
(00:36):
under the sway of the wicked one. That is a powerful,
you know, kind of shake you up, rattle you kind
of verse. And the whole world lies under the sway
of the wicked one. This is from first John. This
(01:01):
is not the only place we see something like this
in scripture, if we look at Corinthians, second Corinthians. But
we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking
in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully, but
by manifestation of the truth, commending ourselves to every man's
(01:23):
conscience and the sight of God. But even if our
gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,
whose minds the God of this age has blinded, who
do not believe least the light of the Gospel of
Glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should
shine on them. Part of that I want to repeat
(01:45):
it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds
the God of this age has blinded the God of
this age. Going back to the first verse, you read
the whole world lies under the whole world. That again
is a thing that should rattle you and startle you.
We know that weird of God, and the whole world
(02:06):
lies under the sway of the wicked one. You might
think that's drastic, that's hardsh That's not what I'm saying
to you of my own like.
Speaker 2 (02:17):
Thoughts. This is the word of God.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
The whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
Look at how many people today believe that they came
from some kind of primordial goo, some kind of primordial
soup in evolution. You might think these two things are
not connected, but I'm going to tell you that they are.
(02:42):
How many people today are hopeless believing that they're just
stardust that randomly coalesced, and that somehow, out of no
life life came through no process involving God, and that
they came from some kind of I don't know, a
morphous fish creature, nobody can define that came from bacteria
(03:05):
that one day decided to walk, that one they decided
to have eyeballs. That nobody can explain any of this.
And then some you know, proto primate thing got intelligence
and started using tools, and here you are. The whole
world lies undo this way of the wicked one. How
many people actually believe that in the image of God
(03:28):
he created them male and female, He created them. That's
a worldview thing. The whole world lies under this way
of the wicked one. That's a major world view. That
you were made, not by accident, not by some random
amount of time and chance, that you are designed by
a beautiful God and loved by God so much that,
(03:50):
unlike anything else in creation, you were made in his
own image. How about that worldview? Most of the world
does not have that view. Most of the world lies
under this way, the wicked one. How about the worldview
that we're just on some ball floating through space time
and you know, an undefined sized galaxy that they change
(04:10):
all the time, and the dates change all the time,
and how old it has changed all the time. You're
just randomly spinning through. There are some random place in
the universe who cares what matters. You're just a piece
of space junk flying through space that just happened to
become out of time and chance, and who really cares? Right?
Why not eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow you're
gonna die. That's not what I'm saying, but that's what
(04:32):
that worldview, I think kind of leads to. You're just
a random thing floating through space. Is some random place
in space. The whole world lies under this way of
the wicked one. How about the worldview that every hair
of your head is numbered. God is watching you, He's
looking down on you from above, that you are known
to God, you know or not you know?
Speaker 2 (05:00):
Let's look at the Gospel of Matthew.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
Are not two sparrows sold free copper coin, and not
one of them falls to the ground apart from the
Father's will, But the very hairs of your head are
all numbered. Do not fear therefore, for you have more
value than many sparrows. You are a person whom God created,
who he cares about, who he loves, loves so much
he died for you, and he.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
Didn't have to. How about that worldview?
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Most of the world does not have that worldview, even
it's not my place to judge, and me salvation. But
somebody who comes from like a Christian country or Christian background,
many of them. The day has fallen into this scientism, science,
you know, science, worship, and that those things that I've
talked about thus far, they're not science. You just because
(05:49):
you call something science does not make it good true science.
Speaker 2 (05:53):
For science to be good, it has to be true.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
And part of the thing that science is supposed to
do is the repeat, experimentable, provable.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
None of that stuff is provable.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Show me making life from no life. Show me any
point anywhere anyone has ever made life from not life.
You can't do it because that doesn't lie in man's power.
That lies in God's power.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Show me.
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Making something from nothing. Show me making matter from not matter.
That doesn't lie in the power of man. That lies
in the power of God. That stuff is Science is
only good as long as it's true. And that stuff
cannot be true if it contradicts the Bible. The Bible
is the source of truth for those who are called
(06:41):
according to God. Right, that is your source of truth
with God's word. Not what man says that gets disproven
all the time, but what God says that is always true,
never changing. How many people actually have that worldview that
what God says is true, period and of sentence. If
God says it it is true, I might wrestle with
the comprehension of it. You know, I may wrestle with
(07:04):
this thing or that thing, And I often wrestle with
God and his word. And there's many things in God's
word that I wish. To be honest, my life would
be easier if they weren't there, or I think they
would be easier because.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
I want to do what I want to do.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
We can boil sin down to that, right, thinking you
know better than God. Look at Adam and even the garden.
Don't eat this.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
The day you eat of it, you will surely die.
Speaker 1 (07:28):
But man not listening to God and listening to the
satan's worldview, saying, oh no, you won't surely die, you'll
be You'll be like God. Man wanting to be like God,
thinking that he knows better than what God tells him.
That pretty much sums up sin, saying God, I know
what you want, what you say is true, but I'm
gonna do what I want and what I say is true.
Speaker 2 (07:48):
That's sin.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
That's what most of the world does. Most of the
world lies under the way of the wicked one. The
whole world lies under this way of the wicked one.
We are called to be a remnant, a bright shining light.
If you look at times in the Bible when Paul
wrote that true Christians were a small portion of the population.
When you look at as in the days of Noah,
right those who were saved that went through the great
(08:11):
tribulation of the flood.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
They were a small remnant.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
If you look at God's chosen people, when he says,
I'm not going to look this verse up verbatim, but
God says he didn't choose Israel because they were a
mighty nation, because they were the most numerous of nations,
because they were the least of the nations, because they
were a small portion of people. He chose them to
be his people. It's always been that way. Today is
(08:36):
no different. Most of the world is not a true,
actual subscriber to the real, true worldview that we are
made in the image of God, that we are called
by God, that we cannot save ourselves. We cannot save
ourselves by you know, you know, worshiping the earth, which
pagans have been doing for millennia, which many people are
still doing today with environmentalism. No, it's good to pick
(08:59):
up your trash. I'm not saying you're bad for recycling.
I'm not saying that at all. But that's not going
to save you. That's not going to be your salvation.
That's not going to be the world's salvation. Don't worship
the creation, worship the Creator. How many people look to
that for like their virtue? That look to the Creator.
How many people today look to God for meaning in life,
(09:21):
for their.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Hope in life.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
How many people know that they can't save themselves, they
are hopeless to save themselves. It's not about doing what
you want to do. It's about doing what God tells
you to do, what God wants you to do, because
He's smarter than you, and wiser than you and knows
better than you do. I would submit that the people
that actually do that to try and walk that out.
(09:45):
And nobody's perfect except Christ. No man is perfect besides Christ.
But how many people actually make that their worldview? That
I believe what God says, I'm going to do what
God wants me to do, and I know that salvation
does not lie in me. I am not of my
own on my own enough. But God saves me not
(10:08):
because I am good, because He is good. It's not
about how much I do, It's about how much God
loves me. And I will use that love and do
what I can do for God. That my salvation lies
in Christ and Christ alone.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
How many people have that worldview?
Speaker 1 (10:26):
That they are not a mistake, that they are not
some you know, long drawn out process that came from
some bacteria and some primorial go and some billions of
years ago Earth, that through time and chance spinning through
the universe, just came into existence. No wonder the world
is so hopeless. How many of you believe that you
(10:48):
were designed by God and chosen by God, and loved
by God so much that He gave himself to die
for your sins. He became sin who knew no sin,
that we might become the righteousness of God.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
How many people actually have that worldview.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
I'm gonna start where we started in the I'm gonna
say again what we started in the beginning.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Let's start a little bit further back in First John.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
If we receive witness of men, the witness of God
is greater. For this is the witness of God, which
he has testified of his son. He who believes in
the Son of God has the witness in himself. He
who does not believe God has made him a liar
because he has not believed the testimony that God has
(11:37):
given of his Son. And this is a testimony that
God has given us eternal life. And this life is
in his Son. And he has the Son has life.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
Hugh does not have.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
The Son of God does not have life. These things
I have written to you who believe in the name
of the Son of God, that you may know that
you have eternal life, and that you may continue to
believe in the name of the Son of God. Now
this is the confidence that we have in Him, that
if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
(12:17):
And if we know that he hears us whatever we ask,
we know that we have the petitions that we have
asked of him. If anyone sees his brother sinning a
sin which does not lead to death, he will ask
and it will be given to him. For those who
commit sin not leading to death, there is a sin
leading to death. I do not say that you should
(12:38):
pray about that. All unrighteousness is sin, and there is
sin not leading to death. We know that whoever is
born of God does not sin. But he who has
been born of God keeps himself, and the wicked one
does not touch him. And we know that we are
(13:02):
of God, and the whole world lies under this way
of the wicked one. And we know that the Son
of God has come and has given us an understanding
that we may know him who is true, and we
are in him who is true, in his son, Jesus Christ.
(13:25):
This is the true God and eternal life. Little children,
keep yourselves from idols.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Amen.
