Welcome to Simply 15, a special edition of
this year. We have Halloween approaching. Gentlemen, I don't know if you know edition.
I believe this year it's on the 31st. Oh, wow.
This year. Whoa. Yeah, well, I was worried. That's risky. I mean,
good thing I didn't change my calendar. No, you never know. I think I kept
my calendar open. So I was wondering,

(00:23):
is there a movie, a horror movie that you just have to watch every Halloween?
I know D.J. you're not really into horror movies as much. You know what
movie I've been watching Halloween? Yeah, DJ Watches My Cousin Vinny on
Hollywood. I. It's. He's close.
I watch a movie that is not a horror movie every Halloween.

(00:45):
Perfectly. That's perfectly alone movie I
watch every Halloween since this movies come out. Biker Boys.
No. What? Why? Why not?
I watch the Batman every Hal. Dumbo Drop. The Batman.
I watched the Batman every holiday. Okay, well, it takes place in October. Yeah,
it does take in October. There a little serial killer element to

(01:09):
it. But yeah, I mean before that it was probably Friday
13th. Jason. Jason was the one I liked. Oh, which one?
The one when Jason showed up because his mom is in the first part.
Well, Jason does show up in part one. Technically, kind of a little bit.
You know, with his big bulbous head. B.

(01:29):
What a loser. Big B. That's why they threw him in the water.
Okay, that's. This guy's got a stupid head. That's pretty cool.
Yeah, I. I mean the Batman's a great movie. Have you watched it
yet this October or You're about to. I'm. I'm gonna watch it. Watch it on
Halloween. On Halloween, man, you go right forward. Huh? October 32nd.

(01:50):
Exactly the sh. I go in a parallel universe.
How about you, Matt? What's a horror movie or movie that you
watch every Halloween? Well, every Halloween gotta
watch Creep Show. Creep show several
times. I already watched it this month. Did you watch it? I'm gonna watch it

(02:10):
again next. Well, no, actually, on the day of this release,
I will be. I will have seen it the day before. Seen it.
If you seen it. How about that? Which ones. Which ones are going in the
future for me to tell you about what I'm gonna be doing soon?
Cost us a lot of money to do. That one's the one where the guy's
swimming and he's trying to outrun the blob. And then Creep Show 2.

(02:33):
That one me. A lot of people hate creep show too. Well, it is inferior.
Me up, bro that's terrified from that.
The Funny thing about Creep Show. There's a lot of funny. Well, not. Not meant
to be funny things in Creep show too, but. Yeah,
there's a guy who is in Native American face
in creepy show too. It is.

(02:56):
What's the guy from mine Hunter. What's his name?
Oh, the older guy. The older guy in Minehunter.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's in the. He's. He's in Jim. He's in
what you would call it, uh, Mission Impossible. He's the one that goes.
I can't think of his name. Yeah, that guy. Yeah, that guy.
Yeah. He browns himself up to be flip.

(03:17):
I like him. Yeah, but he played. Maybe he is Native American and maybe.
I'll make him up. I don't think he is Native American. I don't think so
so either. But he plays a Native American in a creep show
too. But I don't watch Creep show too. I watch Creep Show. Creep. You're strictly
a one. You're a creeper. One guy. It's one creeper. It's.
It's the best. I think it. To me, it's holt.

(03:40):
Yeah. Hold McNary or something like that. I can't pronounce it.
McCullney. His name is Holt. You've all seen him. He's in
everything. But let me see. He might be Native American. I don't know. I'm looking
him up. Nobody watches Creep show too, because it's not as good.
Group show one. Oh, yeah. He has a long hair in the.

(04:01):
He's like, I'm gonna. I'm gonna go to Hollywood, baby.
You get a He. He kills Frank Dreppin's partner.
Creepy. O2. He does.
And Frank Revit isn't creepy, though. One. One. Yeah.
The. The beach. Yeah. Something that tied you over where he
kills Ted Danson. Ted Danson. His father was Irish and he's

(04:24):
born in New York. So I think. Yeah, that guy's about a
Native American. Is this table I'm sitting at. I see nothing
about Native American. Yeah, his grandparents were from Omaha. It doesn't make any mean
anything. You never know. You never know. You never know. You went to school in
Jersey. Does that mean anything? No. Yeah, you never know. Well, he might be 1
16th Native American girl was 16

(04:48):
something. What do you watch, Justin, on your Halloween excursions?
Usually the night before Halloween or on Halloween.
I definitely have to watch Okas Pocus because.
Really? Yeah. Really. Hero.
Brett Midler fan. I love that fucking movie.
There's just. I don't. I miss movies like that, you know? You Can't.

(05:11):
Rabid fan. Because I, I'm unaware of it. No, it's a continuously.
Oh, I. What was your opinion of Hocus?
I don't want to talk about it. That's Hocus Pocus 2 is a bowl
of a movie. Hey, what's better, hocus pocus 2 or blank check?
Blank check. Wow. Because blank check. It's funny is I
had. Did a rewatch four years ago during Halloween, but still.

(05:35):
Blank check. I love that movie as a kid. Side note,
I love that movie as a kid. Watched about 4 years ago. Didn't realize how
it is for a girl to really want to. A kid.
I watched it about a month ago and I was like, hey, just so excited.
Money goes a long way. I mean she's, she's a beautiful woman,
but man, she really pushes it. Like maybe you should back off

(05:58):
FBI lady. Yeah. You think she's gonna. That 12 year old, but she
might. I, I, the, the horror movie I always watch is the Return
of the Living Dead. I have to watch that. Return. Yeah. I love
that movie. You know, Return of The Living Dead 2 doesn't get a lot of
love. It doesn't? No. And I might do a double. I'm gonna do a double.
Is almost as it. Well, Return of the Living Dead is more entertaining.

(06:21):
Living Dead 2 is like bigger, bigger scope.
Heard they're making a sequel, by the way. The Return of the Living Dead.
Yeah, I heard they're, they're kind of the, they're not, they're, they're not
remaking. It a soft reboot. They're somebody
apparently popular is making it. So I,
the name escapes me. Yeah, we do. Don't, don't say Jordan

(06:43):
Peele. Please, God. Yeah, I don't know. I don't
think it's true. No, it wasn't Jordan Peele. It was a white guy. I think
so. He only makes smart horror movies. Oh, I like Adam Brody or somebody like
that. I don't know somebody. Oh, that we know. But yeah,
Return of the Living Dead. I, I have to watch that every year and
you know, a nightmare, Nightmare on Elm Street.

(07:06):
I would throw it as well. Now things terrify me a lot because I'm
a scaredy cat. But what movies scare both of you guys? Do you guys watch
way more horror than I do? You guys remember the first movie that terrified
you? That, that there was never that scared me. I mean,
the, the scariest thing I think I've told you guys was Ghostbusters 2
for me as a kid. What part of what Part of the.

(07:30):
Him coming. That guy coming out of the painting or something
did Vigo did something with me. But that was. That was
about it for me. I mean, Freddy. Freddy was really. Got me a lot as
a kid. Freddy kind of pulled me into a. Like, I. This is
kind of freaky, but kind of like, it.

(07:55):
I didn't like talking about Freddy because I didn't want to it to actually.
Sometimes I would have dreams about that movie. So I would.
Like back in the day before, you know, when I was younger, I wouldn't even
want to say his name, talk about it, because those. Those were. Those. Those were
the terror dreams. I wish I missed the fact that I
can't be scared anymore. Like, I wish.

(08:17):
What's the last thing that's scary? I was like
five or six. That was the last. Really. Oh, wow. No movie.
What about you, Matthew? You watch a ton of horror stuff. Nothing has terrified
you. Nothing. When I was a kid, like, yeah, I would get scared as a
kid. And like, I think it was. I think it was like the stuff like
the, like, things like creep show and things like that that scared the out

(08:40):
of me and everything. The ring did nothing for you? I think I might.
That was too. Later. That was too late. I mean, I think
even by like. The age of, like, movies now, they give me, like, maybe a
little bit of, like, anxiety, but it doesn't. There's nothing in it where
I'm like, this. Where. Okay, this isn't. This isn't good for podcasting, which I'm
covering my eyes, right? Matthew was covering his eyes. If you're

(09:02):
watching the video, you see me doing this, but I missed that. I wish.
I wish I could. I wish I could be like, you know, turn the lights
on type vibe. You know, there is stuff that, you know, it gets you a
little confused. It gets your blood pumping a little bit, you know, sometimes, you know.
Yeah, it's. It's. I don't know. Some of the other was
stuff recently. Like, the Babadook was pretty creepy.

(09:26):
Like, it's a creepy movie and it can give you, like, you know, little anxiety.
Even though I hate. What's the movie with Tony Collette, one. With the girls hereditary
and Nothing. Nothing, really. I mean, it's good. It's fun to watch.
It's a fun. It's a fun watch. But even for me as
a kid, like, when I was like, 13, you know, 12, 13, like,

(09:46):
I was already like, wanting to learn about movies, so, like, I knew
I'd be watching a movie and be like, okay, this is what they're probably doing,
you know, so that really kind of took it away from
me, which really sucks, because Blair. Wish did nothing for you. Oh, God.
Actually literally did nothing for me. When I. Even when I first saw that movie,
I thought it was a piece of. I hated that

(10:10):
that came out of, what, 98 or 99? It came out when Deep Blue Sea
came out because I saw both the theater the same. So I think it's.
I think maybe it's 97,
but I was like, you know, everybody was freaking out, like, oh,
my God, this really happened. I think because they thought it was real. That's what
kind of like. Yeah. Why are these people on the red carpet?

(10:32):
Oh, no, they. You're all dead.
I will say this. I will. I will corre myself
and say I did feel probably when I was 16,
when I saw a print of
Cannibal. Holocaust, that another one. I thought, that's just

(10:54):
growth. Some part of it was like killing the animal. Because at that time,
I thought it was all real. Right, right, right, right, right. And then I came
to learn when I got into my 20s, it wasn't. Yeah. Necessarily.
Not every portions of it, like, not. Portions were like the animal thing. Yeah.
Animal stuff was. But not the other. So,
you know, but that probably gave me a little, like, at the same time,

(11:16):
I was kind of, like, looking kind of like, I love this. This is
good. This is great. Oh, this is creepy. Justin's into this
world right now. This is awesome. It's like two in
the morning, and I was watching this at a film festival, and. But other
than that. Yeah. Slowly losing your mind. I miss. I miss. I miss

(11:37):
that feeling, you know, I. Missed out that feeling all the time. I get scared,
like, with weapons when I watch. Well, you are a black man in America.
I'm a black man in America, bro. Everything. No. So it's a waking nightmare.
I was enjoying weapons based upon the fact that I thought, like, I was enjoying,
like, okay, we're finally watching a movie now. Right. That is getting the
basics correct. Because so many times I watch movies now. I was scared

(12:01):
of the competency. Yeah. Like, oh,
Josh B. He can. He can actually act, you know, like, okay,
cool. All right. There's some structure here. I like that. Okay,
okay, we'll do this story. We'll do this person's story. Okay. I remember when I
was little, Cujo, terrified. Now I have a dog, but I didn't want anything to
do with dogs for a long time. Cujo. I. I remember.

(12:23):
I mean, Freddy was The, the. That's the S tier of terrifying.
Yeah, but you have that like generational, you know, horror,
which is like, you know, like when Jaws came out, like Jaws,
nobody wanted to go into the water. Right. And that was people.
Me, I watched that. I'm like, joke about that. But that was, that was a
real thing. Nobody like, I'm from Florida, there's beaches everywhere.

(12:45):
Yeah. When Jaws hit. No, nobody was going to be freaked.
Out of that movie. Except for Michael Kane thought it was safe.
Then he saved the day. Michael Caine saved the day. Michael Kane did save the
day. Marvin Peebles helped too. Marvin Peoples died in one cut and lived
in another. Did you know that? Yeah, I know. Yeah, because it's like the shark
throws him up or something like that. Something like that. He got bit, but something

(13:07):
dumb. It's something stupid. He had a bad accident.
No, he's Bahamian. He was Bahamian.
To all my Baja men out there, I apologize. That's the movie
where Jaws roars at you. Yeah,
it's like, it's like the dinosaur talking to you on an airplane. You know,

(13:29):
Alan, you gotta go back to the island. Jurassic park
never scared me. I think I was like Jurassic park. When I saw it
when I was 10. It like it gave me anxiety, but it didn't really.
Well, I mean it was as a 10 year old. They're like, oh my God,
that's a monster. Gonna eat somebody. Well,
I had jump scares and stuff like that. Yeah, yeah, the, the, the, the.

(13:52):
Last time. Yeah, the last time a movie gave me like brewings.
It was probably. Talk to me was probably the last time like a movie that
gave like real like. Oh, there were
a couple scenes. There were a couple scenes and talked to me that are like,
oh, oh. Serve echoes me
up. They had the. For me that me

(14:13):
up. Because it had the fingernail scene. Yeah,
that and the jump scare on the couch that me up for a while when
he like sits down. And the way they shot it was so good.
Underrated. Underrated. Bacon. Watch that. Yeah.
Just rate a movie and B. Yeah. You know, stuff like that.
But like with Matt. Yeah, it's like pulling up nails or putting

(14:37):
in like cutting somebody's ankle. You know,
cutting that cemetery's
tendon. Yeah, man, that's bad too. You make you feel something. You know, it's like
when Saul would do those things with like the needles or something like that.
Yeah, or like oh, like the killer. Something like that or.
Stuff. Audition was bad. I saw that with Matt. That was.

(15:01):
I was like, yeah, let's watch this movie. That was horrifying.
That's when I was in my deep depression phase. I was like, how is
she getting away with this? Yeah. Because it just keeps going on and. On,
keeps going on. Somebody. Then you think it stops and it's like, oh, he's okay.
He's dreaming. He's like, no, he's not. No, he's not.
Oh. Oh, boy.

(15:24):
Yeah, it was great when you were a kid and you had, like a vhs
and you, like, you go to your friends and you're like, hey, I got this
movie. I've heard it pretty up. Let's watch this.
Now. Every day is a up day.
Well, somebody's on my door. I gotta go. Oh, God.
It's a chick from audition. It's a chick from.

(15:46):
She's working for ICE now. Yeah. You come
with me, Mr.
