(00:00):
Hello, Diocese of the Rio Grande.
This is your Bishop Michael Hunn inviting you to the observance of a solemn Veterans Day.
In 1919, following the end of World War I, the war to end all wars, President Woodrow Wilson called for a nationwide celebration of Armistice Day in remembrance of those who served their country in that war, and especially in commemoration of all those who gave their lives, paying the ultimate price for the freedoms which we enjoy.

(00:35):
Today, that day is called Veterans Day and celebrates all those who have served our nation faithfully.
Here in the Diocese of Rio Grande, it's our blessing to support the bishop's office, the Bishop for the Armed Forces and Federal Ministries, and to partner with her in the work that she does caring for our military chaplains throughout the world.

(00:58):
In honor of Veterans Day this year, the Diocese of the Rio Grande, collaborating with the Cathedral of St.
John here in Albuquerque, is showing a film called Apache Blues Welcome Home, which is the story of Apache Troop, the unit that was called in during the Vietnam War to rescue troops who were in tenuous situations.

(01:21):
And it is the story of the, of that unit and its troops, and as they came home, how they were treated by their fellow citizens in the United States, and how they have recovered since.
.999It is a moving documentary, and I look forward to seeing it with you.
