It's Carly Pierce.
Carly, I want to say welcome tothe Great New York State Fair.

(00:21):
Thank you, I'm so happy to behere.
So tell us a little bit aboutwhat is going on in the world of
Carly Pierce right now.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Oh gosh, Well, so many things.
That I can't tell you is what'sgoing on.
I'm trying.
Let's see, we're winding downthe summer, which you know.
I think everybody gets to thepoint where they're excited to
maybe tour a little less comingup in the next few months.
But I've been hard at work atsome things, lots of things.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Stuff.
You can't tell us no.
So I guess what you're sayingindirectly, Marissa, I think
what I mean, there could besomething new in Bruin.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
That's what I'm guessing from this.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Yeah, I have the feeling.

Speaker 3 (01:03):
She's not going to confirm or deny.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
I have the feeling radio is going to find out
pretty quick.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Yeah, there's a lot of new.
We'll just say, like new ishappening.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Okay, can we just go back?
What was the turning point inyour career when you you started
?
What 2017?
And then, of course, covid.
Yeah, and then let's go fromthere.
What was the turning point foryou?

Speaker 2 (01:23):
I mean really COVID.
I feel like I was one of theonly artists that really my
career took off during COVIDProbably 29,.
My album, which is ironicbecause I feel like it was
written about such like a darkthing in my life and it became
truly the best thing thatprobably ever happened to me and

(01:46):
just really solidified like ahuman relationship with fans.
I feel like they realized, oh,she's just like us going through
the same things.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
That's what I was gonna say.
Like when you have, when you, when you go through stuff like
that and you're basicallyreleasing your diary, that is
where you become the mostrelatable and all of a sudden
it's it's not.
This is Carly Pierce on stage.
This is Carly Pierce, the girlthat's shopping next to me in
the grocery store.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
Exactly which is me.

Speaker 3 (02:09):
If I bumped into you, though, it would be a totally
different situation in Target orsomething.
You know what I mean?
Oh my God, that's Carly Pierce.
You're not supposed to be here.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Exactly so.
I mean you kind of put yourlife out there, and we all know
that you know.
I mean, do you you kind of putyour life out there, and we all
know that you know?
I mean we read about you, it'sin our show prep, it's, you know
, reading about the new musicthat's coming out and your ups
and downs, and I mean, do youever regret?

Speaker 2 (02:34):
letting a lot of that out.
I mean, I would be lying to youif it hasn't been like a
journey of getting to a placewhere I don't care what other
people think.
I definitely there's been prosand cons to it.
You know, people feel like theyknow exactly what happened to
me.
They feel like, oh, all shedoes is sing about heartbreak or
she can't keep a man, or allthese different things, and it's
like that's just not realityand I think I'm finally at a

(02:58):
place where I'm like I don'treally care.
Whatever keeps making peopleshow up and care.
Yes, I'm going to keep writingmusic that makes me feel things
and, like you know, sorry that Iwent through a situation that
didn't serve me and I got out ofit.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Follow the Taylor Swift playbook.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
Okay, Because that's.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
I'm just saying it's out there and it's working for
her Totally, so it's going towork for you too.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
I feel good about it.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Yeah, and you should, because I believe, from a male
standpoint, that everythingyou've been through has even
made you a better person.
You have learned how to acceptcertain things and the ups, the
downs, and it's like screweverything else.
I am me.
If you don't like me, too bad.

Speaker 2 (03:36):
Totally.
I feel that I feel like youhave to.
You only get one shot at thislife in general and it's like I
want to try to live the bestthat I can.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
You've done a lot of collaborations, a lot of duets.
Is there somebody that youhaven't done one with as of yet
that you would like to get going, cody?

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Johnson.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Bam.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
I'm just, I don't.
She's not.
Is this an Easter egg?
No, it's actually not.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
If I was going to give you an Easter egg, it would
be Russell Dickerson.
Okay, fine.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
I was just it, just it felt like a moment.
That's, that's all I'm gettingat.
You know, cody and I I know I'mjust saying that not not like
you together you the new Stuffyou can't tell us about yet.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Oh yeah, I mean there's some things in there
that, but All right, we justwent back a page, okay.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
I would like Cody though if he's looking for his
next situation.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
I think that would be awesome.
He's so good.
Kojo is so good.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
He's so good, so good .

Speaker 1 (04:33):
You know, is there a song of yours that fans love,
but you never expected toconnect, connect with them so
deeply.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
I mean truly what he didn't do.
I really didn't.
I wrote that and I rememberkind of being like I don't know
if I can put this out into theworld and I just sang it at a
writer's round during COVIDtimes and it like blew up
overnight.
Yeah, I just I never thoughtit's so personal to me.
I just never thought anybodywould care.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Wow, what is it like to be Carly Pierce A day in your
life?
I'd say you're back home inNashville.
Just a day in your life, whatis it like.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
It's pretty boring.
I'm pretty average, I have totell you, Like I don't, I'm
going to like a workout class inNashville where nobody cares if
I'm there or not.
It's awesome.
I go to the grocery store, Ihang out with friends in my
neighborhood, I go for a run, cook dinner at my house, Like

(05:33):
I'm pretty ordinary.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
All right.
Got to ask what's your favoritething to cook.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
Ooh, I make really good steak.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
You make steak.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Yeah, like I do it, you know.
Pan seared in the cast iron andthen put it in the oven.
Let yeah, like I do it, youknow pan seared in the cast iron
and then put it in the oven.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
Marissa, I don't cook .
No, I at one point was likecooking up storm and then and
then it just it fell off and youdon't want anything from me
right now.
It's like chicken tenders outof the air fryer.
Let's go.
Hey, that's cooking.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
You know.
First of all, thank you foryour time.
I know we got to wrap it uphere pretty quick.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
But if you weren't a country artist, if you weren't
the person who you are today, what do you think you would be
doing?
I could ask that a lot andtruly.
From the time I was like five, this is what I wanted to do.
However, there was like one daywhere I kind of thought maybe I
would be a vet, but then Ifigured out that vets have to
deal with sick animals and Icouldn't do that.
But I really love, like healthand nutrition, so something
maybe in like I don't knowsomething in that.

Speaker 1 (06:28):
Yeah, something like that.
Do you have pets?

Speaker 2 (06:30):
I do Johnny and June, my two dogs.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
That's right, I should have known, yeah yeah,
johnny, how old are they andwhat are they?

Speaker 2 (06:37):
They're five, they're twins and they're Shih Tzus.
Be careful, more Shih Tzu.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
But they're a lot of fun.
Now can I ask do you bring themon the tour bus?

Speaker 2 (06:46):
You know, here's the deal with them.
I don't know what happened, butwhen I told you I've maintained
my ordinary life, they'vegotten cocky.
So in the beginning they usedto be awesome and now they bite
people and they're reallyaggressive and they kind of suck
.
So they're very good to me, butthey are divas and a half.
They tried to bite Tim McGraw.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Oh, that's not good.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
They've bitten some of my band members so they stay
at home.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Yeah, and when you don't want them around, you
bring the dogs out.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
Exactly, exactly, but they're perfect, but they're
bad.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Marissa, you got anything else you'd like to add?
Well, I wanted to ask how isthe hand injury?
Oh, a ranch huh Bottle of ranch.

Speaker 2 (07:22):
I know, you know what's funny.
So I got the two stitches.
Obviously, like on the internet, people were saying I was
rushed to the hospital.
I'm like, okay, no, I wasn't,it's the internet, Come on.

Speaker 1 (07:31):
you're on your deathbed.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
But I will say it still hurts.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Like when I go to open a bottle, I'm like ow, Well
, you're probably near a tendonor something.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
It definitely was, but it's healing up.
It's crazy.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
That was only like two weeks ago, but see like so
relatable, because I am alsoincredibly accident prone, so it
was not good, but look she good, she fine.

this a secret.
