Speaker 1 (00:26):
Bases dropped on the wall past Wednesday here on this
d H. A. M. John, hear you there, Thanks for
dropping byes. You always do the rundown. We got to
take a peek at what happened last night at the
Death Star Lower dot Comfield tu nail win for the
US M and T. We've got your highlights, all two
of them, and we have some sound from Richio Pochattino
after the match.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
We'll get into that as we go.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
We've also got to get into all of the other
World Cup qualifying stuff that happened yesterday, and there was
a lot. We'll let you know who's in, what the
standings are, where folks go from here, what the next
stages are in the steps and everything. Heartbreak last night
in South America. We'll get into that and we'll let
you know who is where doing what Conmeo Ball has done.

(01:09):
You know who's in, you know who's heading to the playoff,
and we'll get into that as well. The stories in
Europe with all the goals that were scored by Airlink
Holland apparently yesterday only had five, like five goals to
assist in an eleven goal outburst against Moldova and it
looks like Norway might have the inside track of making
it in in the UEFA playoffs. So once again we'll

(01:31):
go through all that stuff. And I think I've had
it officially with this pen. I think it's finally done,
so we have to grab another one. So Tyler's going
to join us in about ten minutes. And yes, David,
it is a Marshall Island tee. Yes, it is absolutely
And I know that for those who are astute, you'll
remember that, hey, didn't Nelson wear this yesterday? Well, yeah

(01:52):
he did, but he only worked for the show and
had to run a bunch of errands and this was
close by. So that's the rationale for this morning. This
particular T shirt was picked up in Arkansas as a
part of the first Friendlies that they had, and as
much as Abby has tried, this has apparently been discontinued

(02:16):
by the be Unlimited folks in Arkansas. No matter how
much waving of our hands in the air and cajoling
and convincing we're trying to have them roll over the
rest of their gear and continue to reproduce it. Abby
got the word that apparently they're done, that this this
particular shirt is out of stock, and it's going to
stay out of stock as much as we'd like for

(02:36):
it to continue to be in stock. So yeah, I'm
wearing us again today because it was close, had some
things to do early, was on a talk show in
Columbus a little over a little under an hour ago,
so literally it was a grab and go and it
was there. So I apologize foring the same shirt for
the second day in a row morning, David.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
So we got to get into that obviously.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
If Tyler's going to join us, that means we're going
to talk about it Landy United getting ready for their
matchup with Columbus on the weekend, so we'll get into that.
If we can catch up with the busiest man in
the Northeast, Dylan Butler. He'll be joining us at ten.
We'll take the larger picture of everything going on in
Major League Soccer, and we may even open a package
on the air, So that will be that would be

(03:19):
something wall past Wednesday ish, no real shock and surprise
or anything like that. But yeah, Dylan sent a package
and we felt compelled to open it on the air,
so we'll do that, and it has to do with
what he showed us last week. He hadn't had the
chance to mail it yet, and so we'll open it
here on the show, and it is a it will

(03:39):
end up as a So don't tell Jason this. It
will end up as a Festivus gift for Jason. I
don't think he knows that this is coming. So we'll
show it on the air and then we'll tuck it
away and it's a festivest gift for him. Last night,
speaking of which, it was great to catch up with
everybody at Emory University for the Continuing Up Lecture series,

(04:01):
the Continuing History series inside the Woodrof Library last night
in the Jones Room, caught up with the head coaches
on the men's and women's side at Emory University. Coach
Grinder and coach Patberg. Got to lay of the land
for their season and what it's been like for them
to build, and a bit of the history lesson involving
Emory University and their soccer program and their place in

(04:22):
the soccer pantheon here in the state of Georgia when
it comes to collegiate soccer. So it was it was
a great history lesson and also a great lesson about
how those two coaches and those two programs are navigating
a current landscape, so that'll be out as a podcast
fairly soon. Set your notifications for when that gets released

(04:44):
here on the SDCH network. But once again, thanks to
everybody of the Emory University and as we get closer
to determining the Cup champion of the world the next year,
the obviously we'll be doing some more stuff over there
at Emory as they are their plans for floors of

(05:05):
the library to show off everything that they have in
their archive having to do with the sport, really cool
ideas and when we know more, we'll let you know more.
But keep an eye out for the lecture series at
Emory and the podcast tapings and things like that. So
it was very very cool last night to catch up
with our friends at Emory University and catch up with

(05:28):
both programs on the men's and women's side. So that's
a rundown.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
Today.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
We got all the am news we got to talk about.
We've got mainly the qualifiers from last night and updating
you is to where things stand after last night, Who's
in the tournament, who is trying to get into the
tournament cape verday, that's a story that we've got to keep.

Speaker 2 (05:46):
An eye on.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
And I imagine that Columbus Crew fans are trying to
keep an eye on flights coming out of the African
continent so they can figure out what they're going to
have in the way of Stephen Morera in minutes. So
if you figure he might be landing later today in Columbus,
that would mean that Thursday's probably having a bit of

(06:07):
a walk about, and it is. We'll see how many
minutes that Marera can give you. We'll see how many
minutes bax so Arsten can give you. Shan Zawatski injured,
did not participate in this window, so there are questions.
And if you go back and get the early intel
from our friend Chris Dora and the play by play

(06:27):
voice for Columbus Crew, you'll get the early thoughts on it.
Keep an eye on it as you're going. Columbus Dispatch
is probably one of the best places that you can
do that. What does the backline look like might be
one of the big questions coming forward for Columbus this
weekend as they visit Mercedes Been Stadium and take on
Atlanti United. So that is that's today, So all the qualifying,

(06:50):
updating your things updating all your brackets and your lists,
getting you ready for the rest of the day with
your AM news, all the college stuff that's going on.
We'll let you know what to watch, where to watch,
and who to watch. We'll get into full blown coverage
of the US M and T coming up here in
just a little bit. We'll find out how much that
Tyler actually watched or if he was actually, you know,

(07:10):
spending time with family or something like that. So family,
what are you doing? That kind of a thing. So
we'll ask Tyler how deep his watching habits were last
night when it came to what he was watching. And
there were points where I think I had three separate
matches on. It was the USM and T match, keeping
an eye on that. The lecture was during the first

(07:32):
half of it, and so there were some of us
who were being pretty rude in the Emory library and
kind of having the game on while the lecture was
happening and while the conversation was happening, just so I
could give updates when the series was over.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
So we had that raised home.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
So the second half had Conic Bag going on, had
Conka cav going on, had League play in South America
going on on se Caldas had a match last night
that was on really late, so literally is like three
or four h three or four things that were going
on last night. We'll catch up with Dylan and find
will catch up with Dylan if he can make it,
and Tyler shows up here in just a little bit

(08:10):
and we'll get the breakdown of everything in his existence
as we get ready for once again Crewe and Atlanta
United this weekend. So, Morning David, Morning Pars, Morning Abby,
and Morning Wiley. Nine inch Nails? How was the nine
inch Nails Show? I mean, we are in a bit
of a wall pass Wednesday mood. How was the nine

(08:33):
inch Nail Show? Did it? Did it show there? Did
it show their age? Were they a half step slow
or were they actually were they on it?

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Wiley? That's the big question.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Okay, good, Okay, So Wiley Wiley gives a thumbs up,
says that nine inch Nails last night was awesome. A
lot of folks at FIDEH at Fido Midtown watching US
M and T. So, like I said, we'll get into
the numbers. We'll get into the stats. We've got sound
from coach, but coach Pochettino, and we got your goals
and highlights and things like that, so we'll get into
that here in the show. Whatever else is on your
mind as we go here in the midweek, three days

(09:07):
away from the reresumption of the Major League Soccer schedule
and the home stretch before there's I think another window
in the middle of October, just when you think you're
getting a lot going on, then there's another window. So
we'll see what's going on with the USM and T
and everything else on your mind this morning here on

(09:29):
a wall past Wednesday, just to let you know what
is going on for the remainder of the week. Once again,
The Power Hour Tomorrow ten and ten thirty will go
through Conmeo Ball with Nino and go more.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
In depth.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Into what happened last night and how some folks are
completely and totally devastated. Venezuela obviously is that there were
some surprise results that led to Bolivia making it in
and some actions within those matches that gave Bolivia the
chance and Venezuela giving up six at home where they
only needed not to lose. Basically, they needed to match

(10:09):
or surpass Bolivia inactivity. So Bolivia wins. Venezuela loses, Venezuela
gives up six. Luis Suarez had a busy night and
it was a it was just a night that I
think Venezuela is going to want to forget for quite
some time. Bolivia in, Venezuela out. Bolivia is in the
qualifier and a big night, busy night for them. So

(10:34):
Power Hour tomorrow we'll get into con Ma Ball, will
probably get into the statement from Independente that was read
on camera the Copasuit Americana, and then Nico Modeno joining
us at ten thirty, we'll get into more of the
fallout having to do with the suspensions and leagues Cup.
That's another topic that we need to get into with
Tyler here coming up in just a second, with the
League's Cup and suspensions and who got what and how many.

(10:57):
We'll get into that with Nico and find out how
Steve and Lenhart got a five and the whole thing
about misappropriation of credentials. We'll we'll see if Nico has
any intel on that, and that is on Thursday. Thursday Night,
will catch up with our friend dan Orlowitz and we'll
run in the Friday show our conversation about this window

(11:18):
for Japan and the Japan national team what it meant
for them, and then the loss to the United States
even though it was not a stand up. Starting eleven,
you had the manager for the Japan national team when
he was asked about the roster for the US M
and T, he said that Balligan and Polisics stood out

(11:38):
from the big five leagues, the MLS players. You figured
that was unimparaphrasing. You figured that the MLS players that
were on that roster, Yeah, gave about what I figured
that was the Southern way of saying what Moriyasu said
about the the US M and T roster coming up
from yesterday. All right, I've dilly dalied enough time to

(11:58):
go indoors. He's indoors. He's not on his patio this morning.
Where conditions Tyler might have, you know, if there weren't
dudes doing yard work or something, maybe you go outside
and you kind of chill a little bit this morning.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
Yeah, I thought about it. I don't know, but I
just it's kind of a busy morning, you know, kids
doing school stuff and everything else. And I was like,
let me just also with the windows open and they
do school like right there. So there is a possibility
that we may be interrupted not by the guy cutting
the grass, but by young school children.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
Okay, whatever, I mean, it's it's a wall pass Wednesday.
That's what it's all about. It's all about widening the
audience and making sure that other demos are covered when
it comes to promoting the show and all that kind
of stuff.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
No, I'm down with it. Let's let's start with Let's
start with the US M and T. Did you watch
any of it last night?

Speaker 1 (12:51):
I did your thoughts, Comma, sir, question mark after this
matchup in Columbus.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
I think that was a heavy side to start off.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
Yeah, it was either that of the sip of coffee. So,
I mean, I guess I'll give my thoughts as like
the whole break for the men's national team, and I
just feel like Japan specifically, I don't think they're Japaned enough.
I think Japan's a much better football team than maybe

(13:23):
what they showed them, what the I'll say them, what
the score line actually displayed. And I think the US,
I mean, you have you have some some positives from
it for sure in this one, but I think overall,
it's just it. It's not I mean, we're less than

(13:43):
a year out man, and it's just not good enough.
It doesn't look good enough, it doesn't pass the eye tests,
it doesn't pass the statistics test. And I mean, I
don't want to be negative about the US team, but
at the same time, like, right, this is your biggest
opportunity to grow the game for this generation, and I
don't feel like I feel like we're so caught up

(14:05):
in the drama and the well, this coach is good enough,
this coach isn't good enough, this player is good enough,
this player's taking breaks, whatever, we're we're so caught up
in it and look like any press is good press
or whatever the saying is. But I just feel like
it would n yeah, yeah, no such thing as bad press.

(14:25):
I just feel like it's at this point it's so
childlike as opposed to just being a moment where the
country could get behind, you know, the football team for
a very very very important tournament that is going to
be the biggest sporting event in the world has literally
ever seen, and it's just all become about the wrong stuff.
And then as far as like how they played, I mean,

(14:48):
we know the first match was pretty pretty terrible, and
then this one, I think it looked things look better.
I mean again, you have some positives Ballagoon when when
he's on, he's the best striker in the pool in
my opinion. But it's just you know, injuries and things
like that. But overall, man, I just it's just not

(15:08):
quite where it needs to be.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Okay, Well, let's attack this.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
So, in front of a crowd of twenty thousand Comma
one ninety two, Poachatina makes five changes to the starting
lineup from the lost of South Korea. They include Zendejas
and Baligan going in Japan, rotated their entire lineup from
mostly first stringers that tied Mexico and Oakland, and the
goal is draw. And looking at the player ratings, here's

(15:34):
the deal. Matt Freeze gets a six according to our
friends at Soccer America. And this is what we traditionally
do is we look at the numbers from whomever's covering it,
and we sit there and we either go circle gets
the square, we agree or disagree yep, move over somebody else.
Freeze gets a six according to Mike woy talat Soccer America,
while positioned to snag Japanese headers on net, punched to

(15:57):
safety a corner securely caught the other crosses. Flawless perform
moments came in his eighth straight start. So Matt Freese
was a six on the board according to WOI tala,
I think as as coffee.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Yeah no, I'm also pulling up because I wanted to
use and just take a look at our our good
friends fought mob and compare the fot mob has given
me some Oh here we go, okay, uh, Freeze got
a eight point two on the day. I mean, you
know we're starting from the back. I don't think there

(16:34):
were too many issues. And like you said, Japan.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
Rotated the ish out of their squad.

Speaker 3 (16:39):
Heavily rotated. Yeah, so I think you should expect though
that your your defense with some of the guys that
they had back there. That shouldn't be an issue now.
Of course, like the the goalkeeper position is like the
revolving door of death. Excuse me, I'm like dad this morning.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
Man.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
I don't know if it's the weather change or what,
but that position is always going to be, it seems,
you know, in flux until maybe the day before the
World Cup starts. The same thing with the striker position.
But I mean, no, I think Freezing this one was
all right. I think he did exactly what he needed
to do. But again, I'm coming off of, you know,

(17:18):
a handful of performances that have just not been good enough,
and then you're doing this against Japan's backups, and so
that's where I'm like, maybe I'm being a little too pessimistic,
but this is what you should have done.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
Yeah, three man back line, and this probably has been
one of the larger talking points after this match. So
if the three man back line works, then everybody is
on their boxes of soap and going we'll stick with it,
you know, going forward. Chris Richards. Chris Richards had the

(17:51):
one error that almost led to a goal from Japan,
but Matt Freeze answered it on a low flying shot.
Tim Reim was there to help out Tristan bla Blackman
rebounded from his effort. Tristan Blackman from our friends at
Soccer America got a two. Basically, their their arbitrary thought
patterns gave Tristan Blackman a two, gave him a five
this time out.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Tim Rieman.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Chris Richards got seven's on the scale of one to
ten from Mike whit Taller.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
Yeah, from the from the fought my perspective. Blackman got
a seven point one, Richards seven point two and Reem
a seven point five.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
Okay, so of sevens across the board.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
Yeah, I mean, and I think with Tristan specifically. I
mean again I've said that, I said this on our
show all the time, enough said it on here. Like
the stats are one thing, but the eye test, to
me is huge. You have to pass the test, and
I don't think that anybody in the game yesterday just
straight up failed. Yeah, but you look at the stats

(18:51):
for Tristan and it's like, I mean, you had no tackles,
you had no blocks, you had seven clearances, which is
I mean, that's cool. But like some of your other
your other stats, you won two out of four ground
duels and you didn't win your one aerial duel. It's
just like those things that to me again in a

(19:12):
bubble this one game you got by with it, but
I don't think that's going to be good enough. Like
I don't think the I don't think the aggression was there.
Now it worked like again this back three, Like like
you said, people are gonna get on their soapboxes and say,
all right, well you know this, it happened this time.

(19:33):
But again, I just I look at this one. Unfortunately
it's such a bubble of a match because of what
happened against Korea and what's been happening that I don't
think you can you can take a whole lot in
terms of, well, you know, this particular pool, this particular
starting eleven, this particular group of guys is going to
be what what the team needs going forward.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
Is in Dejas.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
According to Wayitala was good enough for an eight. I
imagine the goal was probably one of the defining factors there.
Christian Roldan, who we've been discussing for the sake of sandpaper,
got you six, Tyler Adams, Christian Pulisick, Max Arsten. Arston's
cross by the way, yeah, I got seven. Arsten's crossed

(20:18):
is in de Haas. I mean, if you were to
take that in its in its half plays, Arston's cross
to Zann de Haas was choice. Then'sen Dejas on the
volley with the presence of mind to take it clean
on the volley and with the one hopper getting it
into the net off of the near post. That play

(20:40):
from past a shot that was that was some pretty
sweet stuff.

Speaker 3 (20:43):
Yeah, and I think What is interesting to me overall
is how Max Offson has kind of just worked his
way into this group with Pochattino, and I think it's
something about the way that he plays is very pochattino Esque.
I don't know, there's not really good way of putting it.
I just think he's he's trained in a system with

(21:08):
some of the best in MLS doing what he does,
and then he brings that to the men's national team.
And I think the biggest thing too is you know,
he's getting consistent time, which Pochatino values. But I think
like you've kind of seen his game develop a little
bit over the past year and a half, like you know,
in club football, and it's getting noticed. So I think

(21:30):
like you're taking positives from maybe not just this window,
but the windows in general. Arson has has pretty consistently looked.
I wouldn't want to say like phenomenal, but he's been
he's been good. You know, he's done that, he's done
the job, and so like you know, I know, maybe
I came in Wednesday morning, like one cup of coffee,

(21:52):
a little negative, but like I think, I think there
are some good things to take And you're talking about
the cross like, these are the games. This when it
comes to these international games, especially when you're building up
for a World Cup. When you get into the World Cup,
it's those kind of moments that are gonna that are
gonna count. It's not the nobody's gonna remember the misses,

(22:13):
well they will, but it's gonna be you know, that's
that's We've seen it in every World Cup in our lifetime.
You're gonna have those in just about every game where
it's the goal that probably wouldn't be scored most of
the time, somehow somebody snags it and you know it's

(22:33):
just because that that cross maybe just just on it,
maybe something out of out of left field. There's something
special about it. And and I feel like, you know, Arson,
with how he's playing, he's he's giving you something a
little more than than maybe he had, like he would
have two years ago. I just feel like his development

(22:53):
has been really really cool. And then you talk about
Zendejas and and the finish, I mean, I don't know,
I mean happy for again positives. I think you have
something something really neat to look at there.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
Yeah, And when Alex was interviewed, he's like, you know,
I was just waiting for my moment.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
I didn't get it.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
I didn't expect to get called up. First start for
the US since the twenty three Gold Cup. He went
scoreless in five and he said, I didn't expect to
get called up. Seven games for Anthony Hudson and bj
Callahan and twenty three never played for Burholter fifty five
minutes over Pochettino's first four in charge, missed out in
USA's first twelve matches this year. And then you know

(23:37):
he had for a Clubamedica in twenty three, twenty four
and this year sixteen and fifteen three straight league a
Mechi's titles runner up on the Klaus Sura. So he
comes off with a spark off the bench. Pochettino said,
so please, because he with his performance makes us to
doubt about our roster. With this type of performance, he's
in the race for the roster of the World Cup.
And so you know that's what you're that's what you're

(23:59):
hunting for. And so Zindaihaus gets the call and you know,
you tap him on the shoulder and he's ready to
come in and he gives you those kinds of moments
like we saw you last night.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
He was the most fouled player of the night too,
which you know is saying something just because it means
you're getting involved. I mean you add the goal on
top of it. That's nice too, but that means you're
you're annoying somebody.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
Yeah how that many times?

Speaker 1 (24:24):
Yes, flow baligan gets you an eight up top once
again you get the the the left foot there on
goal number two. Subs on the night desk Luna McGlenn
give you a worthy of sixes in the eyes of
Mike way Tala, Luca Della Torre and Damian Downs getting reps.

(24:45):
They got five's. Nathan Harriel came in for a cup
of coffee. Seventeen different players have scored the thirty goals
in Maringship Pochatino's eighteen matches as US M and T
head coach. And then once again we mentioned that Alex
got his first start since June and twenty three. Next
up in the October window, USA gets Ecuador Q two
October ten, and then Australia and Commerce City at Dix

(25:08):
on the fourteenth. So that's the next go round for.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
All of that.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
What else sticks out for you and your fat bob
analysis off to your right or wherever.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
The only other one that I kind of had his
mom was Del Tore because I mean we've kind of
seen we've seen him provide, you know. I talk about
the midfield with Arbsen and kind of what he was
bringing with Tyler Adams and everything else. But del Toy
has been that guy that's that's been doing the job
out out west all season long, and he's looked good

(25:41):
doing it. And then he comes in in the what
was it like sixty something sixty six minute I think
is what I just say, yeah, and I mean ten
out of ten on his passes and creates two chances
in you know, under half an hour. I think, now, again,
all things in a bubble because this was Japan's backups, right,

(26:02):
But I mean, I think your midfield depth going into
the World Cup is going to be incredibly important because
we're always talking about the goalkeepers and the strikers for
the US. That's just how it is. That's been the issue.
But I think one of the things that maybe you
could look back at the twenty twenty two World Cup
and say is that you just didn't have enough depth

(26:25):
at midfield. That was dynamic, yep, and it it really
really caused issues in the in the knockout stage. Whenever
they got knocked out, it just it just felt like
they were so flat. So I think going into this
Warld Cup with maybe a little bit more of a
pool that if they can get everything else figured out,

(26:46):
that that's going to be a big strength.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
I think, yeah, go ahead and get your coffee and
get hydrated.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
Man, it's it.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
I don't know what's up with you this morning? You know.

Speaker 3 (26:54):
You know what. I think part of it is, I've
noticed this because of this show over the past couple
of years. When it is soccer season, in my soccer season,
I mean, the kids are playing soccer, uh huh, and
I'm out there practicing with them and all that, and
I'm running a lot. The next morning, it's I guess
it's just like running around all that you know, stuff,
congestion whatever. Then I get up and I'm like talking

(27:19):
a little bit obviously with the family in the morning.
But then when I get on here, I was like,
I'm actually talking talking, and I think it's like all
of it just like it's like, hey, remember all that
running you did yesterday?

Speaker 2 (27:27):
Uh huh?

Speaker 3 (27:28):
Come back.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
It's like, excuse me, sir, Yeah, mortality here. He's kind
of catching up with you.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
Just uh yeah, you remember how old you are now?

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Uh huh yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
I'm sitting there going yeah, and he's as long as
the muscles are sitting there and behaving, I'm.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Gonna need to like refill this cup of coffee with
extremely hot coffee.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Oh yeah, there you go.

Speaker 1 (27:45):
H Tyler hanging out with us here to kick things
off on Wednesdays as he always does. Once again, we
were efforting the busiest man in the Northeast, Dyllan Butler,
and we are also efforting Bart Keeler to see if
he can hop in in the final half hour, because
you know, Bart kind of works and kind of gets
in the way of things, especially that are not Mondays,
when you have friendlies on Tuesdays and getting ready for
everything going over the US M and T and the

(28:07):
two nil win over Japan in Columbus and getting the
thought pattern of everybody and where everything is always you know,
even keeled. Everybody's just kind of like, yeah, everything's you know,
we're gonna kind of keep an eye on things. Everybody's
just kind of kind of chill about moments like this.
Uh McGlenn David's been on fire this morning in the

(28:31):
twitch pits better than a six dude had three real chances.
And then looking at backing up dest and Jedi, Arsten's
much more dynamic. But do we need a lockdown defender
or a dynamic fullback. That's what dictates choices on the
depth that that you bring. Then the idea that the
assist was lovely, but every game folks are turning the

(28:55):
corner on him like he's a traffic cone. Wow, traffic cone,
Max Arston, bring that to the Benz on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
Yeah, that would be perfect.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
Bring it.

Speaker 1 (29:05):
Bring a traffic cone, you know, just like can you
bring one into the Bend. You sit there and you've
got a traffic cone. You just sit there and you
bring it. When they mentioned Max Arston, you sit there
and you hold up the pylon. You know, Freeman's much
more stout defensively. Arston also played ball central in their
defensive they're to trouble and to japan players. My thought
and we had, like I said, we had Chris Dorn
on yesterday and I wanted to specifically ask about a

(29:29):
player like Arfston because in the Wilford Nazi system, you
have those jokers that are all over the place, and
what I mean by joker, I don't mean by haha,
I mean the dudes in the deck wild card. Yeah,
so you don't know what they're going to do. They
could be in a graphic and they can be in

(29:51):
a place, But once the whistle goes, you don't know
what Camacho's doing. You don't know what Mo Farci's gonna do,
you don't know what Max Arston's gonna do. The graphic
does not dictate what their game behavior is. And I
think that in national team duty, when you bring in
Columbus Crew players, they're used to being jokers and you

(30:17):
have to be in a more rigid idea. Unless Mauricio
Pochettino wants you to be a joker in a particular match,
I think that you're specifically set to do something where
Max Arsten down the left hand side, Okay, I need
you to feed, and you feed, and you feed and
you end up getting the result. You won't see Max
Arsten necessarily unless it's dictated doing those joker things where

(30:39):
he's going in in the inside channels on the right
or the left, dictating wherever that gap space is and
Arsten doing what we're used to seeing him doing Major
League soccer. I think that national team duty probably means
you're going to be a little more structured in your
ideas coming from Mauricio Pochettino, and that's why you see
him out on the left, and that's kind of it.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Yeah, but I and I think have I often that idea. No,
I agree with you, but I think you also see,
like to the to the point from I think David,
you see some tendencies, and I think those tendencies might
cause him every once in a while to get caught
maybe in a less tactical location to be able to

(31:21):
do his job. And I mean, but I mean you
see that obviously with a lot of national team players.
If they come from a specific system and then they
come into the national team and they're there for two weeks,
they're not that they're having to relearn or completely adjust,
but they do have to follow a different set of standards.

(31:41):
And I think that's why Jedi has has worked so
well kind of in a lot of different I guess
formations and and sets from coaches and everything else, is
because he's a very traditional left back. He'll get forward sometimes,
but he he stays at home. But then when he

(32:04):
does go to break lines. He's breaking it with his
engine and his speed, but you're not seeing him get
all the way to the in line all the time
and sending the you know, the crosses or the balls.
Now he'll do it, and it's happened occasionally, but he's
not that attack minded, you know, left back. And I
think so it's a little bit easier to look at him.
And at the end of the day, we have to

(32:25):
remember that, like fullbacks are defenders, and so I mean,
if you're if you're falling apart defensively, that's a problem.
And I think unfortunately, like I mean, I guess if
you want to like look at from like an Atlanta perspective,
I think you've kind of seen that a little bit
with with like Brooks Lennon. Brooks Lennon, you know, he
he either is is getting forward and doing the job

(32:46):
or he's staying back and defending and not getting forward
at all. And I think he's kind of taking a
step back defensively. Whereas you look at the national team
the left with Arfsen I even mentioned sometimes he floats inside.
That's what he does with Columbus, and again you see tendencies.
You saw tendencies, uh in this window with him to

(33:08):
where he wanted to do that, but he's being told
to do something different.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
And so.

Speaker 3 (33:13):
Thankfully you have that back three in his situation to
kind of save him and allow him a little bit
more presence to go forward. But it's just at the
end of the day, there's still he's still a defender.
He's still got to get back and do the job.
He can't be a traffic cone. So I do I do.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
Understand that, And so you are you are mandating I'm
guessing you are mandating that that someone tried to smuggle
a traffic cone into Mercedes Bens on the week.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
I mean, honestly, there might be some inside the bins
that you could just walk to and grab, true. I
mean really, all you need to smuggle in is is
a face picture of.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
A fat head of Max Arston.

Speaker 3 (33:54):
Yeah, and then and then you can find the cone anywhere.
But one of the security people will probably give you
a cone.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
It's like, well I need this for starting lineups.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
Yeah, let me let me have a big orange one.

Speaker 2 (34:03):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Last night in conbo Baal by the way, they were
trying to figure out the seventh spot, who's going into
the qualifier, Ecuador beat Argentina on a red card call
and it ended up but needing just the one goal
in Ecuador gets the one goal. Paraguay over Peru one nil.
You had Colombia put six on Venezuela.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
Have a.

Speaker 3 (34:27):
Somebody which was Mike's name, crazy quite happy.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
Uh, And Luis Suarez scored four last night for Colombia.
We'll get into Louis Suarez in a bit.

Speaker 5 (34:40):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
So you end up with and get this so to Alasko.
Segovia scores in the third minute, your one nil, your
one nil up. Venezuela is in Yerrymena scores. In the tenth,
you're one to one. You're still good because all you
have to do is match what's going on with Bolivia.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
Joe's scores. In the twelfth, you're two to one.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
Louis Suarez scores in the forty second, tow too at
the break, everything is still is still there. Then Louis
Suarez in the fiftieth, Louis Suarez in the fifty ninth,
Louis Suarez in the sixty seventh, and all of a sudden,
it's five to two. Solomon Rondan scores in the seventy
six to make it five to three. Jean Cordebus scores
with twelve to go six three final I'd look, I

(35:29):
did not have I'd love to know what the juice
boxes were on the total at plus eight and a half,
I'd love to know what that was.

Speaker 4 (35:39):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (35:39):
Bolivia goes one nil over Brasil and a Chile and
Uruguay a goalless draw, which means that Bolivia is in,
Venezuela is out, and Venezuela is now on the outside
looking in again. Bolivia goes in for the qualifiers, so
it's Argentina, Ecuador, Cologne, Uguay.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Brasil, Paraguay.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
All of the you had four teams at twenty eight
points yep, which is just crazy, stupid, unbelievable. And then
you had to go to like goals scored because of
tie breakers on goal difference with Colombia and Uruguay, and
then you go to Brazil and Paraguay. Brazil dropped to
fifth by the way in the table because of the
goals and stuff, and then Paraguay is in. So obviously,

(36:25):
Miguel Almiron man, could you imagine? Could you imagine a
Miguel Almiron match at Mercedes been state.

Speaker 3 (36:31):
I know, I know the powers that be are not
looking in Atlanta like that, but I feel like the
soccer gods should step in and make it happen.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
You just kind of sit there, you know, have Dan
Corso kind of wander over to the friends at the
FIFA and go, hey, you know.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
Yeah, you know this as just saying, uh.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
Then Bolivia is in.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
Venezuela is out at eighteen points because of the loss,
and so it was just crazy keeping an eye on
conbo ball last night, and so we're kind of getting
an idea as to who's getting closer and who's all
this kind of stuff.

Speaker 2 (37:04):
See, David, here's the idea on the traffic.

Speaker 3 (37:06):
Come, I know that's that's a that's a good one.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
I like it. It's mill a soda.

Speaker 1 (37:11):
And make sure that when they come by and clean
it up, then you get it off covered. H So
you have chaos in common Ball otherwise known as Tuesday,
and we're kind of getting a better idea as to
who might be drink. We know who's in now completely
and totally, and we know who's now heading into the playoff.
But yeah, chaos again. I did not have Luis Suarez
scoring four in a game that had nine.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
No, No, I mean that's the thing common ball. It's
not that it's surprising, like none of this. The fact
that you have like an eighteen way tie to get
into the World Cup at this point and then you
have you know, games that are dropping nine. I mean,
like it's it's insane, but that is that is common ball.

(37:55):
That's exactly how it goes. It's just when it's this
close to a World Cup, it's it's you know, amplified
even more.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
Uh huh.

Speaker 3 (38:03):
But unfortunately I wasn't able to watch like a lot
of the games.

Speaker 2 (38:08):
A lot of those games also on like pay per
view for like ninety seven.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
Right, it's like so stupid. So but like catching the
highlights and everything else, it was probably the most entertaining
part of this international wind absolutely.

Speaker 2 (38:23):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
You know, you still got a couple of matches and
things like that that we're keeping an eye on in
the window cape very day. Looks like they might be
working their way in on the side out of afkhon.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
But it's absolutely crazy.

Speaker 1 (38:34):
So since we mentioned the gentleman who scored four last night,
I've been kind of on a box of soap over
this one. The folks at Major League Soccer came down
with their ideas. As you look skyward, you're you're, you're
kind of you're, you're, you're, you're kind of sitting there.

(38:55):
I can see your wheels turning as to how you
want to praise this.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:00):
MLS has come down with their additional words having to
do with what happened at the end of League's Cup,
And like I said, we'll get into the Seattle side
of things and the Stephen Lenhardt five coming up tomorrow
with Nico Moreno, but Luis Suarez is the only one
to get touched in that one for an additional three.

(39:21):
Nothing for Busquetes for delivering a short rite to Obed Vargas,
nothing from Maxi Falcone for a triangle choke. I guess
it was on Obed Vargas. Nothing to Jackson Reagan, nothing
to John But, nothing to to j Bell, nothing to
Thomas Abulus, nothing to cell Awagan. It was just three

(39:42):
to Luis Suarez, and we're on our way and I
don't even think we've seen anything involving any kind of
a fine to uh Messi and friends for what went
down either. So literally it was just like adding another
three and we're.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
Done, Yeah, waiting for.

Speaker 1 (40:02):
It's you're like, you're like, you're like Giovanni Ribisi in
in Ted Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (40:10):
Yeah, yeah, man, it's it's horse craft, dude. I it
bothers me that MLS couldn't do the right thing. Uh
and and like so I'll let me take a step back. Sure,

(40:31):
Tommy and uh and Sydney did a video the other
night just kind of talking about their opinions on it,
and Tommy gave a good point about we we have
a precedent in MLS with the the spitting and the

(40:52):
three game suspension. It was Hector Herrera.

Speaker 1 (40:57):
Yeah, it was Atcha aching and that was the main
reason or one of the contributing reasons that Pat Anstad
said we're not renewing his contract.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Yeah, last season with Houston.

Speaker 3 (41:07):
Yeah, so the I mean, the precedent is there that
you know, you spit on somebody in it's three games,
which I I that's about the only saving grace that
I could say. All right, MLS, But but it's not
even necessarily the Luis Wawrest thing. I think Suarez should
have been. I mean there should be a fine too.
The fact that Seattle got fined. It's so frustrating. It's

(41:32):
so backwards. You spit on somebody, money should be coming
out of your pocket. Just like last week, I said,
you get you spit on somebody, and don't be upset
when someday somebody squares up on you.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
Yeah, that was why I thought that the suspension went
for more than more than a match, because that second
match would have been at the Erector Set against Seattle.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
Yeah yeah, and so like, I mean whatever, you know,
three games, it is what it is, but there should
be a fine involved. There should be a fine, and
I know, like, this is not the legal system. You
got to look at this dude's history. The dude has
a history of literally hitting and spitting on people and
biting people a lot.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
Maybe it was just hungry.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
Maybe he was hungry. They had that Mike Tyson in
a minute. I don't know, it just.

Speaker 2 (42:25):
It.

Speaker 3 (42:26):
It needs there needs to be an example set because
the League's Cup sixty game thing, he's not even gonna
be here, Like, we don't know what's happening with Leagu's
Cup next year. Three games. Like I'm glad they did
it to get you through the Seattle match for sure,
because that would have been a crap show had had
he been there for that one. But you still have
the rest of the squad of Miami squad that's gonna

(42:47):
be there that didn't have anything happen to them, not
even a fine. And so I just don't think the
punishment is honestly enough overall. And then you, I mean,
I know, and I know the Seattle things, Nico is
way more in depth with with what's going on with it,
But I think that's crap too, Like that's that's what
you decided to do, is go and punish essentially the

(43:11):
team that was on the rougher end of this, that
didn't start it all, that didn't you know, make it
all happen.

Speaker 2 (43:17):
And mental health coach right, Like that's insane. So yeah,
you do.

Speaker 3 (43:26):
I mean riled up man, No, But no, I just
think it's I think it's crap. I think it's it's
not enough. I don't think I think MLS had an
opportunity here to do the right thing and show everybody,
I mean, at minimum, take away some of the the
news lines about how you know Miami is MLS's favorite team,

(43:48):
and this, that and the other in the conspiracy theories
and this honestly did nothing to help that at all. No,
it just made it worse.

Speaker 1 (43:55):
And because of the gaps in what could be perceived
punishment in the situation like this. I mean literally, Sergei Bousquets,
you you see, you can't miss him because it says
Sergio on yea, his back is to the camera and
literally I'm left handed, so primarily so I'm gonna do
it with my left, even though he did it with
his with his right. Literally it is you see you

(44:17):
see this, yep, you see that to Obed Vargas's jaw.
And I mean there was just a short shot and
I don't know how. You know, it might have been
a punch that gets pulled like we see with you know,
Undertaker somebody on Monday nine.

Speaker 2 (44:30):
But still still you are throwing a punch.

Speaker 1 (44:33):
Yeah, and you do that, says Sergio five on the back.
And you do that and then.

Speaker 3 (44:43):
Nothing, nothing at all, And and you know, I always
go back to twenty twenty two. I think it was
twenty twenty one.

Speaker 2 (44:55):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (44:55):
Joseph and Victor one. I think it was Victor won.

Speaker 2 (44:57):
Yama oh in the tunnel in Montreal.

Speaker 3 (44:59):
Yeah, and it was the choking thing in that instance,
Joseph was grabbed and then Joseph grabbed back, and it's like,
by the letter of the law, sure both get a read,
both get sent out. Cool, I'm cool with that. Tiago

(45:22):
Almada was suspended for three games for bumping into a
ref at a Columbus game at the Bins. And then
you you can then go now and I understand it's
League's Cup, not MLS.

Speaker 2 (45:36):
Right, and they are their own separate entity.

Speaker 3 (45:39):
Yeah, I get that, which is a conversation in and
of itself, considering you know, it was created by anyway.

Speaker 2 (45:45):
It is a concact sanctioned turn and they are their
own animal.

Speaker 3 (45:49):
Yeah. But like so you have those those instances, and
then you just go and you give three games to
the guy that spit and nothing to the guy that
punched a seventeen year old because we can sit here
in act like you know, I mean, it was a
push that got turned into a pulled punch whatever, but

(46:10):
he still punched the guy in the face. So you
look back at the Joseph thing where he grabbed him.
I mean, Joseph was grabbing him to kind of keep
him off of himself, and he still gets you know,
now that wasn't a three game, but he still gets
punishment for it. And and then you have a situation
like this where like you literally had MMA moves getting
pulled out and there's nothing that happens to them. It

(46:36):
just blows my mind. Man, I just I don't think
it's good enough from MLS.

Speaker 1 (46:40):
I don't think Victor wan Yama wanted any of Joseph
in the tunnel. Frank, now, you don't want that. You
don't want that smoke, and you know, think think I mean,
thankfully there was a camera that was kind of poised
to kind of take a peek up the tunnel in
that end, Yes, you could kind of see a little
bit of the beginning of it, but you know, yeah,
I don't well, I don't think that would have been

(47:01):
something that Victor Wanyama would have registered in the w column.
At the end of the day, Speaking of Columbus, they're
coming to town, and I know that David is going
to be looking to spile a soda in the concourse
at Mercedes Stadium come the weekend. You have folks coming
back from various parts of the planet. Obviously, the European
window ended sooner than the Comma Ball window. Then yeah,

(47:26):
the common ball window where Ronald's coming back late, Miggy's
coming back late. I will be interested to see what
it looks like against Columbus up top. How many minutes
can you give me is probably going to be one
of those questions to Miguel mcgul will give you an answer,
but you're probably gonna have to gauge it through the physios.

(47:47):
You have Stephen Morera coming back late for Crewe, you
have Max Arson on national team duty. You have Sean
Zawatski who had a not and could not participate in
practice or the match in Columbus. And I would recommend
folks go listen to our interview with Chris Dorian yesterday

(48:08):
as he kind of broke down what the back line
could look like with any and all of these variables.
That still does not reference the offense that they have
up front short of Wassam who was Wassam Abu Ali
who was spending time with his national team. I'm intrigued

(48:28):
because of all the missing pieces and what it looks like.
What kind of a matchup are you looking for here
from Atlanta as they take on Crew on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (48:38):
I mean he takes another deal, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (48:41):
I got a new I had a cup of coffee
delivered by the way. Oh nice, just for you, because
it's just, you know, it's been one of those mornings.
But no, I think, first of all, these matches always
seem to happen Atlanta Columbus at least once a year,
either in or on the tail end of a international break,

(49:05):
and both teams do have a lot of folks that
go out and and so it just it always feels
like there's like an asterisk next to next to these matches.
I think.

Speaker 2 (49:18):
Second, heavy sigh, Yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (49:20):
Think Atlanta's defenders they're you know, not not all of them,
because I mean you do have international call ups pretty
much everywhere down the line. But I think the guys
that were here, I think this was a great opportunity
for them to kind of continue to get integrated into Atlanta,
maybe with a little less pressure. And I think from

(49:45):
that perspective, it's good because the defense has been pretty solid.
It's been better, for sure, like a lot better than
it was throughout the early part of the season. And
I think with me high back there, you know, the
things that maybe these guys could have done during the
the break is going to bring them even closer, I hope,
But but you're also playing against a Columbus team that
just they're one of the best in the league. So

(50:08):
even though both sides are coming off of a handful
of guys coming back, I think Columbus is still going
to bring it. I think this is going to be
a tough game. But at the end of the day,
if Atlanta doesn't win that, I mean, there's still a
possibility they could be eliminated. And I know, playoffs, haha,
We've made that point for a long time. Yeah, but

(50:29):
they could be, you know, eliminated no matter what. But
at the end of the day, you've got to go
out and play for pride at minimum, play for next year,
get things, continue to get these new guys kind of integrated.
And even if that means, you know, the other guys
that you know are going to be here next year,

(50:50):
only play sixty minutes. If Miggy only gives you sixty
and he's going to fight to give you a full
ninety because meg yes, but you know the rest of
the guys. We saw Jamal Ti sorry, we were there
at the at the training ground on Saturday for that
Twoes match, and Jamal Tiari's out there getting lots of
running in, you know, and and so you wonder how

(51:11):
he's gonna be. Came in Togashi obviously on an option year,
but I think I would imagine you would bring him
back next year if you can. Yeah, So these other
guys up in the attack. Luke Brennan who talked yesterday like,
you need to get them as many minutes as you
possibly can with the other guys that you brought in

(51:31):
in the summer. What that looks like on the field
on Saturday against one of the best teams in the league.
I think it's gonna be that the defense holds them
to a much lower score than we've probably seen in
the past. The last time the crew were in Atlanta
had actually turned out really well for Atlanta. It was
it was too n ill and that was when Columbus

(51:53):
was killing it. But no, I mean that's just a
very roundabout way of saying, like, I think you're going
to continue to see the defenders that some of these
new guys Alzat in the midfield continuing to build chemistry,
which I think has been really refreshing to see how
quickly they've maybe gotten some of that already. Yeah, and

(52:14):
then it's just going to be getting reps with those
guys that I mentioned before, uh, and just seeing what
they can do against a really good team, because it's
a good litmus test at this point.

Speaker 1 (52:24):
Yeah, and seeing the continued relationship with an ame high
and a healthy Steon Gregorson. I'm wondering if for defensive
purposes you probably have Alzat playing more of a defensive
role and act almost like a third center back to

(52:46):
where with all that firepower coming at you with you know,
Abu Ali and and Diego Rossi and such, you need
that extra body back there just to make sure that
you're accounting for Well, if they've got two in the attack,
I've got three.

Speaker 2 (53:00):
If they've got three, I've got four.

Speaker 1 (53:01):
If not five, So something along the lines of the
back four that we're used to seeing, and wondering what
it's going to be like at right back al Zate
playing more of a defensive posture, bart going forward, and
then Alexi who had the friendly coming in. Like I said,
we don't know about Miggi and his numbers, and then

(53:23):
trying to figure out you know, Luke and is it
Jamal and Latte lot or is he physically, so you
kind of have a loose construct as to how you
think it may look with a lot of pieces that
have been together, and you didn't really lose to the
international window compared to what you would be losing at
the back for Columbus in this case.

Speaker 3 (53:43):
Yeah, I mean, and you could even I don't think
that Ronnie Diler would do this, but this could also
be the game where it might be worth trying out
a back three with better call as well. I mean,
obviously that would have to require some changes elsewhere, but
I think because you do have guys coming back that
probably aren't gonna be able to give you the full

(54:04):
ninety like you want, this might be a moment where
you could you could slot him in somewhere, and with
Stian having you know, probably some of his best form
that he's had, at least in terms of saying healthy,
it could give you an opportunity to really see what
all you have with all three of them. And if

(54:25):
you play your cards right, you don't lose a lot
in the attack either. You actually might gain gain some things.
So that would be a chess match, and I wish
that this game may be counted a little bit more
to kind of see how how that could play out
with with Nazi and Daila and just the formations. But
at the end of the day, whoever they put on
the field and whatever formation they just need, they need
reps together.

Speaker 2 (54:46):
Cut the promo for me. What's going on at S
and S.

Speaker 3 (54:50):
So Tonight at seven we have our show, normal normal
Wednesday show over on the YouTube and X and everything
else with we'll have Kaylen car. It'll be me and
me and Henry and maybe Tommy if he gets back
in tom because he's got some stuff going on tonight,
but definitely me and Henry and Kaylen Carr will hop on.
And then Saturday at five point thirty before the match,

(55:14):
we're back over at the Insignia at the Nest on
four bar, so y'all come hang out with us beforehand.
We're trying to work on getting a guest, special guest
to pop up, but I don't know for sure that
that's going to happen, so I can't. I can't cut
that promo yet, Okay, but do come out because we
will be doing the show and it'll be a good time.

Speaker 2 (55:34):
Cut a promo for a show and maybe we'll have
somebody cool.

Speaker 1 (55:37):
Yeah, there you go seven o'clock tonight on the youtubes
and on all the socials at SNS. Tyler is always great,
my friend, to have you bet and lead off with us.
We kind of went a little sideways with the men's
national team and all the other things, but but that's
what we're here for.

Speaker 3 (55:50):
On onesday, it's been one of those one of those wednesdays.

Speaker 1 (55:52):
And enjoy your enjoy your heated beverage and get recovered
because you got a show tonight. We'll see now see
all right, there goes Tyler, and it's always good to
catch up with Tyler and find out what's going on.
And it's signed for the Hot Tag. And with the
Hot Tag we go to the busiest man of the Northeast. Okay,
you're here, and that's a good thing because.

Speaker 6 (56:16):
We are gonna be here now.

Speaker 2 (56:18):
Yes, yes we are, and so I am going to.

Speaker 1 (56:23):
So so I'm gonna go, I'm gonna I'm gonna filibuster
for I need you to fill a buster for a minute,
right because I gotta get something that arrived here at
the at the office and we're gonna we're gonna open
it on the air, all right, We're gonna open it
on the air, So filibuster for a minute and talk
about the box that you sent and what it was.

Speaker 2 (56:41):
Like, Hey, it's a Wednesday, it's what we do.

Speaker 7 (56:46):
I'm just laughing because I want to see where John
has to go to find said box. I thought it
was under his desk, but apparently it is completely out
of camera shot. So, as everyone knows, went to see Oasis,

(57:07):
and apparently too, so did multiple stars. Allegedly Matt Damon
was there? Better call Saul was there? Really, I'm not
sure if it was the same exact day as I was.
It was two days that meant Life Stadium. I didn't

(57:29):
see either of those guys in the parking lot where
I was. So I had a request from from John.

Speaker 2 (57:39):
Yes you did.

Speaker 6 (57:41):
You had a request and I fulfilled said request.

Speaker 2 (57:44):
Yes you did.

Speaker 1 (57:45):
And frankly, first and foremost, I saw the shipping amount
and I almost lost it. I was like, are you
seriously that that's that? Isn't that's an ish time on
the shipping man.

Speaker 6 (58:00):
I wanted to.

Speaker 7 (58:01):
Get I wanted to get it to you as quickly
as I could.

Speaker 2 (58:05):
So do I need to venue some more money? You
do not? Okay? All right, well thank you?

Speaker 1 (58:09):
I mean it's yeah, I literally, you know, Dylan got
this sent to us.

Speaker 2 (58:16):
And by the way.

Speaker 1 (58:17):
Like I said, Jason does not know about this, So yeah,
this is this is meant to be something along the
lines of a Festivus gift.

Speaker 7 (58:25):
I wasn't sure if I needed to go two separate ones,
like if you would, I don't know if you'd be
in the same place wearing in the same place.

Speaker 1 (58:31):
Oh no, I mean that that that'd be kind of like, well,
you know, uh, legitimately it's like, oh, so you're twins.
You know, you're that kind of thing. And now now
I've got your address, which is always a good thing. Okay,
so that now that I've used my scissors.

Speaker 2 (58:46):
Here is what Dylan.

Speaker 1 (58:51):
Aw there you go, yeah see this and uh, you know,
like I said, dates on the back, you can never
go wrong and uh and so then obviously it's an
amazingly similar shirt, different size.

Speaker 2 (59:07):
So there you go. But no, h like I said,
I thought it would be.

Speaker 7 (59:11):
Impressed on because that was that was post concert really
post uh beverages. Wow, and and got it for you.

Speaker 1 (59:22):
There mah uh, well you and spending your like nine
gazillion dollars to be on that that level where it's
easy access for everything.

Speaker 2 (59:30):
So uh no, cannot thank you enough to an And it.

Speaker 7 (59:33):
Was funny because we were we were on that level
and as I said last week, you know we were.
We went more who is it Lee? Doesn't Lee Brice
have the song parking lot party, So it was more
of That's what it was for us, although we did
obviously make it for Oasis, but we had walked in ads.

(59:53):
The lights were down just before they started the the
opening bushes, yes, because you can't most of the rest
of the song.

Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
Unless unless you're like Nigel mc a fan of Nigel
McGuinness or something in the bushes basically. Yeah, So that
is one of my favorite cuts. By the way, that
is one of my favorite That is one of my
favorite was.

Speaker 7 (01:00:18):
Yeah there the last I guess the man was forever ago, right,
but like the last time I saw them, that was
what they opened with. I think it was in the
Standing on the Shoulders of Giants tour. But uh so
we had to just arrived then, so like it was
like we we got up, got to our seats, got

(01:00:39):
to our row, sat down for a second, stood up
for the next two hours as Oasis played. But we
didn't know what was even in this area, this club
area we were in. So the concert ends, we're like,
all right, let's go hit the facilities and let's see

(01:00:59):
if I could get this. And we're walking around this like, wow,
look at this. They have some nice stuff in here.
Everything was closed obviously other than the merch area, but
it's like, oh they have they have street tacos that
looks really nice.

Speaker 6 (01:01:13):
Oh look at this over there.

Speaker 7 (01:01:14):
Oh look at all the different kinds of beers they had,
Like I had no idea.

Speaker 1 (01:01:20):
So you've survived that. You've survived the international window. We
talked a little bit about the USM and T and
hour number one, and we're now in the home stretch
before we have another international window in October for Major
League soccer.

Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
The Eastern con is.

Speaker 7 (01:01:36):
The most inconvenient of all the October international window meause
there will be at least two managers, maybe the shield
winning manager, right Like, they'll complain about it and how
they lost momentum, and there'll be some someone will do

(01:01:58):
the math on the amount of days but between matches
kind of thing.

Speaker 1 (01:02:03):
And you've got an Eastern Conference that is a street
fight and nothing is new.

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
It's like it's a day that ends and why. And
the Eastern Conference is crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:02:14):
You look at the standings going in and you know
that two teams are in. You just don't know the
where the two teams are officially official of being in
the postseason or actually, well technically one because I'm thinking,
I guess I'm thinking next bro Philadelphia is in at
fifty seven. You don't know where Cincinnati's at fifty two,
Charlotte's at fifty.

Speaker 7 (01:02:35):
Yeah, Cinci and Charlotte are on the precipice of clinching.

Speaker 6 (01:02:40):
Nashville is there as.

Speaker 1 (01:02:40):
Who Nashville fifteen wins and fifty points. That's your one
through four. Then you've got Orlando with a match in
hand at forty seven, Messi and Friends with as many
as four matches in hand at forty six and thirteen wins.
Then you've got Columbus who has twelve wins at forty
six points. That's your top seven. Then you get into

(01:03:01):
NYC at forty four, Chicago at forty two. Red Bulls
at forty are below the bar. Right now, Chicago has
match in hand, n y CFC has two, and then
everybody else eleven, eleven and on the way down with
the New England, Atlanta, Toronto, Montreal and DC.

Speaker 2 (01:03:18):
When you look at.

Speaker 1 (01:03:20):
How things are currently in the East, let me start
at the eight to nine and we'll work our way up.

Speaker 2 (01:03:26):
Do you see.

Speaker 1 (01:03:28):
Red bulls making their way in? Do you see do
you see I guess one through eight or one through
nine staying one through nine right now? As things are
heading into the home stretcher? Are you looking for somebody
to duck out whether it's NYC or Chicago and red
bulls hopping in?

Speaker 7 (01:03:45):
So I have I have mixed emotions on this. I
guess it's a I guess it's a it's a two parter.
It's kind of like, what what do I see likely happening?
Versus what do I want to happen? The mixed emotions
comes with what do I want want to happen? I
would love the wild Card Games the Hudson River, Oh

(01:04:07):
my goodness, A one off. I mean it was a
one off last year too, right, but it just continues
to help build that rivalry. So you know, playoff Darby matches.
You live for those, right, So from that perspective, you'd

(01:04:29):
love to see that, or at least I would love
to see that again. But on the flip side of it,
I would like to also see Chicago get in, Like
I think obviously they're not a complete product because of
where they are in the table, but I think they've
done so many positive things, especially in the attacking third.

Speaker 6 (01:04:51):
I think it's been.

Speaker 7 (01:04:52):
A good start to the Burholter era in the Windy City,
So you'd like I can maybe see them rewarded as well.
But if it's going to be, because it would appear
it'll be that grouping of three, right Like, MCFC had
an opportunity to push ahead of that and they faltered

(01:05:15):
terribly against DC United at Yankee Stadium, so they kind.

Speaker 6 (01:05:19):
Of deserve their fate right now.

Speaker 7 (01:05:22):
I will say there is a Hudson River derby match
coming up late in this regular season that obviously can
go a long way towards kind of figuring out who
will be in that.

Speaker 6 (01:05:35):
In that wildcard match.

Speaker 1 (01:05:37):
Then you go to the five, six, seven, and legitimately
if you wanted to lump two through seven in there,
we could because they're separated by three wins basically sincey
Charlotte Nashville, we could consider that the chase group for Philly,
And then if we go Purple team Messi and Friends
and crew. I think the matches in hand obviously are

(01:05:59):
going to be the determining factor in five, six, seven,
and just how motivated Messi and Friends are to get
close to the two obviously they can't, you know, they
could be the one. I think if they win out,
if they all four so four.

Speaker 7 (01:06:13):
They've got winnable and they've got this one coming up.
Charlotte is probably I think I'm not looking at their
schedule right now, but I think probably their hardest match
they have, especially because they have to go to Charlotte
right where the Crown are nearly unbeatable at home eleven
to two and one. But outside of that, they've got

(01:06:34):
very winnable matches to close out this season.

Speaker 6 (01:06:38):
So do they go.

Speaker 7 (01:06:42):
Full throttle and chase the shield? Do they ease up
a little bit down the stretch drive and make a
more concerted push to for MLS Cup?

Speaker 6 (01:06:55):
That's I think the question.

Speaker 1 (01:06:57):
And I mean, you look at you look at their
run in. So let's go ahead and check the run
in for Messi and Friends while we're at it, and
take a peek at what it looks like for them
with these matches in hand, and then obviously we'll talk
about scheduling there as well, and going midweek weekend, mid
week weekend, blah blah blah. So you've got the match

(01:07:20):
at the Bank, and then you go mid week and
it's the match up against the Yeah, so have you
have that game, and I'll go ahead, and and I'll
go ahead and go bold face italics and possibly air quotes.
So at Charlotte, Then three days later you host Seattle.

(01:07:45):
Then you have your third match in a week you
host DC United. Then four days late, well three days later,
you go to NYCFC at City Field. Then two days
later you take on Turnronto at Bemo. Then on the
thirtieth you host Chicago at the Erector Set. So basically

(01:08:07):
you have one two. You have six matches in eighteen
days to kind of figure out where you're gonna be.
And that's just to get you out of September. You
because of what you did in the Concork Calf Hemispheric
extravag Yanza and Leagues Cup and.

Speaker 2 (01:08:25):
Such, you got six matches in eighteen days with this crew.

Speaker 7 (01:08:28):
But also they've I think if you look at their
kind of entire schedule, I would say that that is
more than norm honestly than than you know, a week
between games between whether it's concor calf League's Cup, Club
World Cup, right, Like, they've played a million matches this year,
So I think, you know, if there's a if there's

(01:08:52):
a team, I would put Seattle on that same mix.
You know, teams that can weather that kind of uh
wild pace. And also you know, I mean there's there's
got to be some squad rotation at some points obviously,
but they have the they have the high end talent

(01:09:15):
that you would think could could deal with that kind
of a setup.

Speaker 1 (01:09:19):
Yeah, And that's it's I want to see how Obviously
they're they're not going to have Louis Suarez for the
first three of those, but I think in a way.

Speaker 7 (01:09:31):
Did he do something I don't go at Oasis that night,
I'm not sure.

Speaker 1 (01:09:35):
Yeah, it's just something, you know, something having It's something
having to do with you.

Speaker 2 (01:09:40):
Know, hydration or whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:09:43):
You won't have him for the first three, but considering
what we've always been concerned about with Suarez physically, what
you've done is you've given him a chance to basically
take a week off, yeah, and get him ready for
the stretch run where you're gonna be playing, You're gonna

(01:10:04):
need him as a part of that squad rotation you're
talking about. So this this mandated vacation that he gets
from Major League Soccer, I think helps him out physically
and helps them out when it comes to those matches four, five,
and six to get you out of the month this September.

Speaker 2 (01:10:24):
Yeah, an inadvertent plus, I.

Speaker 6 (01:10:25):
Guess, yes, yes, indeed.

Speaker 2 (01:10:29):
It's one of the things you sit threk.

Speaker 1 (01:10:31):
Okay, So a thirty eight year old dude with bad knees,
what do you do. Well, We're gonna suspend him for
three matches. Okay, you're probably sitting there going yep. I'm
gonna kick back and relax and just do a little
rehab and everything will be fine. I'll be good for
those three matches on everybody else's gaest. I come in
from behind and will take care of those other three
matches to finish out the month at NYC, at Toronto

(01:10:52):
and home to Chicago.

Speaker 6 (01:10:54):
And also a MESSI.

Speaker 7 (01:10:56):
Doesn't play right in Argentina's second match the September Windows,
so that's a that's a plus for them as they
go to to Charlotte.

Speaker 1 (01:11:05):
Mm hmm, what does your what what does your crystal
ball tell you? What does bylan o'donmas sit there and
looking at the crystal ball in the east because of
what we've just been talking about and everything else, What
where do you think the top four is going to
line up?

Speaker 6 (01:11:24):
Top four? I will go.

Speaker 7 (01:11:29):
Muggle Philly sincey Miami Charlotte.

Speaker 1 (01:11:35):
Okay, okay, so you figure that squad rotation is going
to come up and bite Messi and friends at some
point they won't get they won't get the one. You
figure they're not going to win everything in the run in,
they'll lose one here or there, so they'll be a
part of the discussion at the two and the three
as opposed to clearing clearing the plate and getting ahead
of Philly by winning everything out.

Speaker 7 (01:11:58):
Although that said too, I'm not like since he hasn't
looked itself.

Speaker 6 (01:12:02):
I mean they you know they what is it?

Speaker 2 (01:12:06):
Back?

Speaker 7 (01:12:07):
Three straight one zero losses at home? Their win was
at Portland three to two. They do not you know,
their their stretches home for Nashville again, they've lost their
last three at home, So at lag home for Orlando,

(01:12:29):
which again will not be easy at a desperate Red
Bulls team. And then home for Montreal. So if if they,
if they, if they are the team that was buzzing
and looking to win a shield and a vander MVP, ah,

(01:12:50):
then I think they could finish second. But you know,
I almost I always want to amend that I might
want to looking at that.

Speaker 6 (01:12:55):
I mean maybe in Miami two and since E three.

Speaker 1 (01:12:57):
Okay, I mean I figured that I figured that what
it would end up as they would get that meaning
Cincy to me is kind of hiccupping their way through
the end of this, and they might, you know, they
might be barefoot in the they might be barefoot in
the dining room and turn the corner and kick the
table leg or something. Charlotte to me, I think that

(01:13:21):
Charlotte can be Charlotte can be exposed, they can be
found out. Nashville has been exposed, I think in a
couple of different ways. And that's why I'm thinking that
Miami ends up as You're two, and then probably Sincy three,
and Charlotte Nashville. To me, it's like I have questions

(01:13:42):
on each, but I'm wondering if I have less questions
on Nashville than I do in Charlotte. Therefore, Nashville three
Charlotte for maybe that's what I'm kind of like, Eh,
everybody just kind of is just in this big pile.
It's like, I know, Philly, I know what they bring
to the table, and Messi and friends, you know what
they bring to the table. You look at Charlotte, you

(01:14:05):
can see so you can see points four and points against.
You look at Nashville, you see points four and points against.
You look at Orlando, you see points four and points against.
And you know, then with Crewe, I'm wondering when crew
turns the engine over, because when they do, you.

Speaker 6 (01:14:20):
Know they've been in neutral for how long?

Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
Right, I know?

Speaker 1 (01:14:22):
And that's the thing. It's like, you know, you turn
the engine over on Columbus, and then you know what
they can bring to the table, and they're gonna they're
gonna frustrate the crap out of anybody in the Eastern
Conference when things are going the way that Wilford Nanzi
wants them to go. And so it's just it's like
you take what one, two, three, four, five teams of
the top seven right now and you're kind of like yeah,

(01:14:44):
and I see yeah, and then eh, and then Philly
is up over here, and then Messi and Friends. They
can fit in anywhere in here. I have more questions
about the Eastern Conference than I do answers right now.

Speaker 7 (01:14:57):
I was just looking at Chicago to the massive one
right coming up Saturday against NYCFC, go to Minnesota, not
easy host that Columbus team you just mentioned at Miami
home for Toronto, and then you end at New England.

Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
Okay, so it's a fifty to fifty schedule, But yeah,
I mean Messy and Friends' schedules navigable and it should
be games that they do win. But then you juggle
the idea of rotation around it, and you got to
see where it is in the West.

Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
San Diego. Is Mike Verisher Coach of the Year?

Speaker 7 (01:15:35):
Yeah? I think if it, of course, why would it
be given at the midway point of the season. But
if it was the midway point of the season, it
was definitely going to be in Vancouver. But I would
say for what's yeah, Varus, I think Bradley Carnell has
crept up into a probably second on that list, but

(01:15:59):
for sure, to just it's unheard of and obviously, look,
they're approaching records, they're breaking records, but to do what
they've done in their first season is crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
Five points clear of Minnesota and then Vancouver who and
then Vancouver has two matches in hand, so technically they
could be a close second if they went out Seattle
obviously spacing there forty four points. They're literally the chase
group because I think it's San Diego Minnesota, they're both in.

(01:16:34):
We just don't know where. Vancouver has matches in hand,
so they could be as high as a very tight
number two Seattle, once again, having navigated everything, everybody's kicking
dirt on Seattle. It's like the sun rises in the
east sets in the West. We owe taxes in April,
and we kick dirt on Seattle every year, and then

(01:16:55):
everybody in Seattle sits there and goes they.

Speaker 2 (01:16:59):
Give you them atumba no no, no. And it's just
I don't know why.

Speaker 1 (01:17:05):
I don't know why we continue to kick dirt on
everyone's favorite PhD professor, librarian looking individual, Brian Schmitzer. I
just it's like we continue to do it and then
every year, it doesn't matter what the competition, they're either
gonna go zombie sounders on you after a bad start.

(01:17:25):
They're gonna go deep in competitions and they're gonna sit
and everybody's gonna sit there and go, yep, there's Seattle,
and then you end up with them chasing after things.
It's like priority here. We've got our lineups, we bring
in our folks from Tacoma. Literally it is wash, rents
and repeat. And it's another year of this coming out
of Seattle when.

Speaker 6 (01:17:44):
We went another trophy.

Speaker 7 (01:17:46):
We won every competition now that we've played in.

Speaker 1 (01:17:48):
Yeah, it's just what what is what is the secret?

Speaker 2 (01:17:54):
Sauce? I mean?

Speaker 1 (01:17:54):
Is it just something as simple as having a system
in place and sticking to the system and not deviating
from it. Where you build from within, You have your
young talent, you go strategically for your high price scores,
You make sure that you have enough depth to help
you out when inevitably there's going to be an injury.
And then you try to fill in pieces here and

(01:18:15):
there with with young talent where you do spend a
little bit of money.

Speaker 2 (01:18:19):
And is it is it that formula? What part of
this formula am I missing here?

Speaker 4 (01:18:23):
No?

Speaker 6 (01:18:23):
I think I think gets all of it.

Speaker 7 (01:18:25):
And as you said, a manager who's criminally underrated, right,
and that.

Speaker 2 (01:18:30):
Was going to be my follow up. Are we still
taking Brian Schmetzer for granted.

Speaker 6 (01:18:36):
Probably, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:18:37):
I think maybe in this side of the Mississippi we
are where we're we're kind of focused on everything in
the Eastern Conference, where in the Western Conference he just
kind of does his thing and it's like da da,
and I'll see you later. You look at everything else
in the West and it is LAFC and Austin, and
Austin has been doing this. In twenty eight matches, Austin

(01:19:05):
has scored thirty one goals.

Speaker 7 (01:19:08):
Yeah, but suddenly, but probably half of three of them
have been the last three matches.

Speaker 1 (01:19:15):
Yeah, it's just it's like, I don't know what happened.
I mean, you, for the longest time, I think own
goal I think was tied for second in goals scored
by Austin FC. The Brandon Vasquez injury meant that you
had to rely on Uzuni and Bukari and they're finally

(01:19:37):
I think coming around as your DPS other than Brandon Vasquez,
and you're now I guess we should phrase it this way.
You have now scored thirty one goals in twenty eight
matches and you're in six. Yeah, and you and you've
got you've got a little bit of space for you
when it comes to making it into the playoffs. I mean,
it's just I don't know what happened in Austin, but

(01:19:58):
they seem to have, at least in the short term,
figured things out.

Speaker 6 (01:20:01):
They keep it weird.

Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
Yes, that is absolutely true.

Speaker 1 (01:20:05):
Portland's at thirty nine, and then you have the fight
to get in the eight nine. Right now, Colorado San
Jose they are in.

Speaker 6 (01:20:13):
It's hard.

Speaker 7 (01:20:13):
It's hard to sorry, Johnathan, it's hard to have complete faith.

Speaker 6 (01:20:19):
In San Jose.

Speaker 7 (01:20:21):
Yeah, but it that feels that doesn't it feel like
it's more than two points between them, them and Houston
at this point.

Speaker 2 (01:20:29):
Yeah, it does, by the way.

Speaker 6 (01:20:30):
That Houston is faltering as well.

Speaker 2 (01:20:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:20:33):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:20:34):
And when you look at the number of goals scored.

Speaker 1 (01:20:38):
In the in the West, they are number two, fifty
three goals scored. San Diego has scored fifty four. That
would put San Jose basically one to and a tie
for fourth, but that's only because they're one goal behind
Orlando Messi and friends and San Diego. So they've scored

(01:21:00):
fifty four, they've scored fifty three, but they've also given
up fifty one, which is which is nuts. Considering that
all Caps have given up fifty one, Lag given up
fifty six, Kansas City has given up goals by the
metric ton this year, they've given up fifty nine, and
then you look at DC with fifty four, and then uh,

(01:21:23):
Toronto with fifty one.

Speaker 7 (01:21:25):
Chicago they're going to be the only team to make
the playoffs to concede the way that they have.

Speaker 1 (01:21:32):
It's just I mean, twenty nine, So twenty nine fifty
one divided by twenty nine, it's like one and a
half ish kind of thing. Twenty two, well, twenty two,
but twenty two over twenty nine, twenty two, twenty two,
it's like actually one and two thirds ish.

Speaker 4 (01:21:46):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:21:47):
But yeah, just the fact that they're Look, it's like
it's either going to be one of two things. It's
either gonna be goalless or it's gonna be like five
to four with San Jose, you have you, there is
no middle There is no middle ground for Bruce Arena,
and I'm sure it drives him crazy easy.

Speaker 7 (01:22:00):
And they've got l afc at.

Speaker 2 (01:22:05):
Levi's twelve people will be there for that one.

Speaker 7 (01:22:10):
Saint Louis at San Diego, at Vancouver, and then Austin's
end this season is not all Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 2 (01:22:19):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 1 (01:22:20):
So you've got all of these, all of these things.
So you look at the West, do you think the
West is going to be status quo because of the distance.
I mean, look, it's two points. Salt Lake has matches
in hand. They have two matches in hand. They're four
points out. Dallas is at thirty one, they have a
match in hand. So I think if anybody makes a
push to San Jose, it might be Salt Lake with

(01:22:41):
those two matches in hand. Houston just kind of seems
to be I mean, Houston's at a minus nine and
goal difference right now and they've they've scored thirty eight,
given up forty seven, and Houston at times, I don't
know what Houston I'm gonna get.

Speaker 7 (01:22:55):
But when you're when you're when you're desperately trying to
make the playoffs, you don't give up a late equalizer
to a team that's out of it, right like that
that is a gut punch and a half. And you
could even hear it in Ben Olsen's postgame press conference,
right He's like, we got to find the way to
keep that keep that result or get a second goal

(01:23:15):
at some point, but that's one and they were home
as well, right, So yeah, that's not a good look.

Speaker 1 (01:23:24):
No, So I think if anybody is going to make
that charge to chase after San Jose at the nine,
I think it might be So, I think it might
be RSL.

Speaker 7 (01:23:32):
Yeah, two games in hand on both of those those
teams ahead, it is four points that to get to
San Jose. Salt Lake's remaining is.

Speaker 6 (01:23:47):
SKC.

Speaker 7 (01:23:47):
So you have to get those points at home, LAFC.
But you have them at home. You go to l
a FC, you're home for Austin, you're home for college. Uh,
you're home for Colorado, you're at Lumen and you ended
at Saint Louis.

Speaker 2 (01:24:05):
Okay, So it's it's got some navigation attached to it.

Speaker 4 (01:24:11):
L a f C.

Speaker 1 (01:24:13):
I don't think I've had the chance to ask you
what have you thought about the young man's son transaction
and the pick up there and what it means to
both l a f C and of the league, which
is great.

Speaker 7 (01:24:23):
It's it's it's uh, you know, I hate to cross
sporting metaphors, but it's a home run, right, I mean,
and and so many it clicks, so many boxes. It's
a player who's still bringing it, right, It's not he's not.

Speaker 1 (01:24:40):
It's it's it's not in Los Angeles, right, you're here
low within my CFC.

Speaker 7 (01:24:48):
There's such a huge Korean population in l A F
in Los Angeles, and he is such a a personable
star as well from a marketing standpoint, like all of
those things, it takes the boxes. He's shown it in
this window as well, that he's still bringing it for

(01:25:09):
South Korea, right, doing what he did against the US,
scoring again against Mexico yet last night in a in
a two two draw. So yeah, it's it's it's great,
it's a he's also a you know, look he's he's
a breath of fresh air, right, I mean, how many
times now have we seen you know, we watch three

(01:25:31):
six the auto match night and there's an interview at
sun after right, like he's not like yeah, I'm not
talking or I'm not you know, it's not you know,
one interview every you know, twelve matches.

Speaker 6 (01:25:45):
Yes he's there, he's talking. He's in front of the press.

Speaker 1 (01:25:47):
Or no interviews period, no opportunities or anything. Newcastle's back
at it this weekend. They are part of the ten
o'clockers on Saturday they host Wolves. Are you prepared for
your your post esac Era yet.

Speaker 6 (01:26:03):
Yeah, let's go and bring it.

Speaker 2 (01:26:07):
Right now.

Speaker 1 (01:26:09):
You got some work to do three matches in and
it is a winnable match against Wolves who are in
the bottom of the table. Over three, they've given up eight,
They've only scored twice. I think it's a it's an
early got to have it for you and your your
Newcastle I.

Speaker 6 (01:26:24):
Would agree with that.

Speaker 7 (01:26:26):
And let's see we've gotten points. We've gotten points on
the road as well.

Speaker 1 (01:26:29):
Yes, and so uh, two draws in your first three matches.
Now that the drama is over, you can focus on
what's going on.

Speaker 2 (01:26:38):
With with Newcastle.

Speaker 1 (01:26:39):
Will you be up at ten o'clock in the morning
on Saturday watching said match?

Speaker 4 (01:26:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (01:26:44):
My, my Saturday, it's a busy one, but it's uh,
it'll be Newcastle. I got some morning desk duty for MLS,
heading to my first football game of the fall, Clark
at South Side High School. Three o'clock kickoff for that

(01:27:07):
on the Varsity Media YouTube channel. Hustle back from there
for a full slate of MLS on Saturday night on
the desk there, and then Sunday I will be over
at Hofstra working the replay monitor for the for the

(01:27:28):
officials there for the women's volleyball match, so I'm all.

Speaker 2 (01:27:32):
Over the place, okay.

Speaker 1 (01:27:33):
As always, it's great to have you come in and
talking stuff the official term as we kind of tour
the planet on the wall pass Wednesday. I cannot thank
you again. My friend, actually, Abby has requested. Well, she's like,
you know, she was in a car and crap, I've
got to go back and around the other side to
go get hang on you a second.

Speaker 7 (01:27:55):
Yeah, Abby was quite It was quite a reveal because
John did something similar here where he went to some
other part of his of his broadcasting area.

Speaker 2 (01:28:06):
Yes, the studio space.

Speaker 1 (01:28:08):
So basically, Abby, now that you're back in, here's here's
what Dylan picked up here. It is it is the
tour t shirt from twenty five and it's got the
tour dates on the back and it's awesome. So had
to be shown and could not pass an opportunity since
I didn't want to buy tickets in the absolute last
row at Soldier Field to go.

Speaker 2 (01:28:26):
And watch them there.

Speaker 1 (01:28:27):
But as always, my friend, have a have a great
weekend and have a great week and we'll catch up
with you in a week's time and we'll find out
about anything and everything going on in Major League Soccer
with matches that we can talk about. Cheers, buddy, All right,
there goes Dylan, and Dylan was awesome, So getting us
the gear from the Oasis concert. Jared's here and jareded

(01:28:48):
We've been going all over the place this morning. We've
been and I know that shocks you. We got to
discuss everything from the US M and T to what
happened in conme Baal last night, which was its own
brand of chaos, and everything else on the table as

(01:29:10):
we get ready for Columbus coming to town here on Saturday.
What is on your mind as you're in the Mountain
time zone where it's eight thirty four am on a
wall pass Wednesday.

Speaker 8 (01:29:22):
Oh, I'm just trying not to die because no one
here knows how to drive.

Speaker 2 (01:29:25):
Oh so it's nothing changed from your time.

Speaker 5 (01:29:29):
Nothing it did, though, it's everyone does this kind of
lack of self preservation driving like they do in Atlanta,
but they do it slower, so it's like everyone's trying
to die in slow motion instead of trying to do
it at ninety miles an hour.

Speaker 2 (01:29:47):
Okay, that's the only difference.

Speaker 5 (01:29:48):
But Okay, honestly, I'm like looking at all this, like
I didn't know what you were taking orders for Oasis
tour shirts.

Speaker 1 (01:29:55):
Well, well i was like Dylan, Dylan was going and
I'm like, yeah, man, I'm got to dive in on
that because if.

Speaker 5 (01:30:02):
I've been mowing with the fifty or sixty bucks or
whatever the hell it costs these days for tour t shirts,
I don't know. Like, so this is one of my
one of my things is I don't go to many
concerts because I don't believe in paying that much money
for a concert, Like I like to pay fifteen.

Speaker 8 (01:30:20):
Or twenty bucks. Even then I'm like, ah, it's a
lot of money.

Speaker 5 (01:30:25):
It feels like a lot of money, Whereas I know nowadays,
like most concerts like two three hundred dollars to go to.
That's absurd, especially considering so much of that is going
to go to Ticketmaster and Live Nation and basically lobbying
fees so that they can go lobby Congress for a

(01:30:46):
little bit longer to allow their little concert.

Speaker 8 (01:30:50):
Monopolies to continue. Anyway, I'll get off the soapbox either.
Further Rich do it?

Speaker 2 (01:30:57):
Okay, Yes, AnyWho, I'm happy for you.

Speaker 8 (01:31:04):
Yes, as far as the soccer of it all goes.

Speaker 5 (01:31:09):
I was impressed with the US Like I didn't get
a chance to watch I cogged out last night. I
didn't get a chance to watch all of the the
comment ball of it all.

Speaker 2 (01:31:18):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 5 (01:31:20):
The the absolute knife to the gut is Venezuela dropping
that game five two, Venezuela six three.

Speaker 8 (01:31:29):
I'm sorry six three.

Speaker 9 (01:31:31):
Uh a goal?

Speaker 2 (01:31:33):
Yes, Flora scored four to row.

Speaker 8 (01:31:39):
Yeah, it's yeah, yeah. I mean.

Speaker 5 (01:31:45):
So the last time I paid a lot of money
for a concert was we paid to go see Elton.

Speaker 8 (01:31:54):
In December of twenty.

Speaker 5 (01:31:56):
Nineteen, right before COVID because he was doing another one
of these fair well towards. I'm like, okay, this one
actually might be it because that man has lived like
eight lifetimes when you factor in the drugs and the life,
that man has lived multiple lifetimes. Elton Johnson borrow time,
God bless him. Brilliant show, brilliant showman. That man has

(01:32:20):
lived it though. So that's the last time I paid
significant money for a concert.

Speaker 8 (01:32:26):
But I I I.

Speaker 5 (01:32:30):
Do have, I do feel awful for for the Venezuela
fans because john it was right there. Just get something
out of that game, and you're in the playoff instead.
Now it is uh A Fir Morales and Bolivia going
to the playoffs, and that is one that is gonna
haunt you if you're Venezuela for a long time, because

(01:32:51):
it was there, it was in your control.

Speaker 2 (01:32:53):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 5 (01:32:55):
I think it was yours for the taking and you
you're at home and you get absolutely haammered again. You
put up three goals, great, you gave up six. It
was there for the taking and you didn't put it away.

Speaker 2 (01:33:13):
Yea.

Speaker 4 (01:33:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:33:18):
I feel awful for the Venezuela fans out there because
it's it's right there. It felt like it was It
felt like it was there for you to to make
this World Cup. Really in the playoff, I feel like
you would have liked your chances in the playoffs.

Speaker 8 (01:33:34):
I don't know who you would have ended up playing.

Speaker 5 (01:33:36):
I don't know who Bolivia will end up playing, but man,
that is such a gut punch out.

Speaker 8 (01:33:40):
Josep Martinez scored on the night too.

Speaker 5 (01:33:42):
Yeah, though he's not in an Atlanta United shirt, but
we look, let's not kid ourselves. We still keep up
with what Joseph does elsewhere and what he does with
the national team.

Speaker 8 (01:33:53):
So I absolutely hate it for him.

Speaker 5 (01:33:57):
I hate it for you know, Robertandez who was a
part of that team as well.

Speaker 8 (01:34:02):
Consistently, man, it's.

Speaker 5 (01:34:06):
Good feelings for guy like Ephra who has worked his
way into this Bolidian national team now and is now
has a chance to go and continue to get minutes
with Bolivia, possibly at a World Cup with Montreal, and
hopefully he can follow that George Campbell path or he
eventually gets himself over to Europe where or where or
wherever Ephra wants to go. I hope he gets that

(01:34:32):
as far as the US goes. Hey, fair play too, Nol.
Japan did blitz you. But the thing that got me,
John was the US came out and played like it mattered,
and they played like they took offense to the last game.
It shouldn't take a South Korea level let down for

(01:34:56):
them to come out and play like that, because that
counterpress sure they played out on was fantastic, like they
were keeping. Anytime Japan played backwards, the US step to them.
They forced the issue. They made Japan uncomfortable. Yep, And
it's a friendly, but so was the South Korea one,

(01:35:20):
and it's two opposite feelings about it. It's that that
South Korea game was after going back and looking at
it Tuesday afternoon, after we talked about them at bart
like you had to do what you did against Japan.
You had and even if even not even the result
like the results great, but you came out.

Speaker 8 (01:35:40):
And you pressed them. You made them uncomfortable.

Speaker 5 (01:35:43):
Yeah, you got some brilliant finishes, but you made them uncomfortable.
And you look, you made it look like it mattered
to you and that you took offense to everything that
had happened. I would love to see the next step
being that you don't need to get embarrassed like that
to get up for that kind of game.

Speaker 1 (01:36:03):
Thirtieth minute at the Death Star last night at lower
dot com. This was a moment with Max Arston and
Alex Endjas courtesy of our friends at US Soccer and
T and T.

Speaker 3 (01:36:19):
Austin going on the outside, guys, well, I said, decent customs,
the medal of seventy.

Speaker 7 (01:36:25):
Who knows in the United States, I like someday I
swear they go great.

Speaker 1 (01:36:33):
Loaf, fabulous, fabulous strike. Indeed, Luke Wilman, Cale Martino on
the call. And I know that a lot of folks
have been talking about about Max Arsten Jared one way
or the other, and it seems like the world is
split on on Max Arston and hey, it's it is
a it is a day after a US M and

(01:36:55):
T match, And we actually got Bart. We actually got
Bart for a few minutes to discuss. So Bart, where
are you, by.

Speaker 10 (01:37:06):
The way, I'm outside of the Hooper back Complex in
Hoover album.

Speaker 2 (01:37:13):
Oh that's right, Yes you're Yeah, you're at Hoover met
That's right.

Speaker 1 (01:37:18):
So you are. You are a family assistant. You you
are getting work done and family assistance now that I remember. Okay,
uh so that was the first goal on the board
and Jared does his Irish goodbye, So there you go.

Speaker 2 (01:37:31):
So we get the.

Speaker 1 (01:37:32):
One goal on the board Bart in the thirties and
it was Arsten to Freeman and and I mean sorry,
it was Arsteno Zinda Haas and z In de Haas
with the volley into the back of the net and
it was Bart at that point. It was one nill
in the first half. What do you think of the

(01:37:52):
first forty five? We felt more in control, not just
the game. If you wanted to do, and I think
that's been the thing that's been most friend strading with
this team this year. The whole is a good at
feeling what we're doing was in outter control. A lot
of times felt like we were not playing.

Speaker 10 (01:38:12):
To a two, but we planted to playing, not playing
with I guess the direction that we wanted to play.
We were kind of not able to impose our will
on the other team. And obviously they heavily rotated japan lineup.
I think a lot of Japanese would admit that, but
the US is plain had got a lot of rotated lineup.
They'd been catching crap for it. So we can't just

(01:38:35):
dismiss that and say, oh, well it was a bad
Japan team. Well, the US is quite a lot of
that lineups as well. So to be able to still
dictate the game even this way it gains to have
rotated Japan team is still a good thing. And so, yes,
you only got the one goal, and he probably should
have had one or two more. We'll talk about alcans

(01:38:56):
going a bit. He had obviously had some opportunities right
in front of the built out that he could have
put in, and it just looked and felt better. And
I know it's like a squishy word, but it just it.
That's the real Well, it looked like you were able
to do what you wanted to do in a more
efficient manner. Was that the BAC three? I don't know,
you know, I think you can make that argument. We've

(01:39:18):
looked really good at a back three when we played
that recently, and maybe that is kind of the way forward.
I don't, No, we don't really have a lot of
a great center back, so I don't I think that's that.
I necessarily a bit too, but it definitely felt like
we were able to get players in more space a

(01:39:39):
little bit better, but in this formation. So maybe that's
said John, I don't know that simple change was the
was the catalyst for this when it's and it looked
a little bit more intentional on it night.

Speaker 1 (01:39:53):
That was your first forty five and so then it
was first half, sixty three percent ession. You get your
high pressing fullbacks with Arston and Alex Freeman, and then
in the sixty fourth minute you double your lead once
again courtesy of our friends at T and T and
US Soccer. Goal number two on the board for the

(01:40:18):
US comes this way.

Speaker 5 (01:40:23):
Here's the bold play troops wants, but I got a truss.

Speaker 10 (01:40:28):
The goal.

Speaker 1 (01:40:36):
Understand a lot of cheering for the crowd of twenty
thousand plus at the Death Star last night. So uh
it ends up as a two nil win, and everybody
has their ratings. We went through what Woyitalas said. Uh,
let's see. So here's so. It says that Hernandez at
the four letter just as kind of a counteracting, actually
gives a grade to Mauricio Pochettino and gives pochett you know,

(01:41:00):
an eight. Five different changes from the previous eleven against
South Korea testing out of three four to three. Matt
Freese was kept busy. There was the one turnover I
think from Chris Richards that had the reactions save their
overall performance. For Poachattino, he gives an eight. Let me
just run through them all here in the line. Freeze
gets a nine, Reen gets a six, Richard's a seven,

(01:41:23):
Tristan Blackman a six, Oreston and eight, Christian Rold Donna six,
Tyler Adams, Alex Freeman seven's. Polisic gets a nine, Baligan
gets an eight, Zen Dejas gets a nine. Bart What
about just in general, you don't have to go number
by number, but what about overall performances I either agree
or disagree with, Sayzar Hernandez at the four.

Speaker 10 (01:41:42):
Letter, I think, well, hey, I really got this match,
which I think helped Baligan with a liar in more
effective than it any other shriker we've had recently. I
do want to I intitual talk about Mapfree for that
because obviously, John, I think it's fair to say that

(01:42:04):
the number one spot is quite locked up. Yeah, I
know that preasons be getting a book and it starts recently.
He might be a guy that pushed Tina likes. But
I'm just kind gonna be critical for a little bit
because I think this is just what I say some
I'm speaking White Springs, if you will. I think he
does everything thing just fine. He is a a above

(01:42:28):
average go keep. He has saved in Jos and needs
to say. But there are times when I see him
and I'm like, like, Okay, yes he technically did save
that shot, but it kind of spilled in front of him.
Or yeah he did get to that cross and punched
it away, but it only went twenty you know, just
outside the eighteen.

Speaker 4 (01:42:48):
And it's I don't but I'm saying is But I
expect a little bit more, a little bit more confidence,
a little bit more strength, a little bit more.

Speaker 10 (01:43:01):
It's just a little bit more from my starting goalkeeper of.

Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
The US and Sash team.

Speaker 10 (01:43:05):
And I do think that is something that's gonna I
mean by just I'm keeping an eye on it with
step Freeze, because I do think again, he's stopping in
the shots built that he is is doing all the
things that you need have a goalkeeper doing to do.
But it just seems like he's doing it all the time.
A seven out of ten, and you know, I think

(01:43:28):
it's verious. So he didn't look good of the game
before this, the second goal, not necessarily his fault that
he abs, absolutely the fault for a penalty Curry's Gordon, you.

Speaker 2 (01:43:39):
Know, say my mind.

Speaker 10 (01:43:42):
And so I'm just watching that position because I'm still
not sold on that Freeze. But if you're telling me
that he's always operating out of seven out of ten, okay, fine,
maybe this ms just me. That's a looking he grew
up watching some of the greatest tep okay esuch that
you have to get expected more. I don't know, maybe

(01:44:05):
that's why the problem, but that's fine. It's just it's
not great.

Speaker 1 (01:44:11):
Yeah, the whole of good right now, for Matt Freeze,
let me play some Pochettino after the match and then
I'll come back and get your final thoughts because I
don't want to get you into any kind of trouble.
So here is Mucia Pochettino after the match, courtesy of
our friends at US Soccer.

Speaker 11 (01:44:27):
Well, I think we were talking a little bit. First
of all is to say thank you because we spend
a very nice time ten days there were priceless and
we really enjoy the greater moffer. And then yes, a
few things that for us is important to keep pushing improving.

Speaker 9 (01:44:54):
I think we told that there was despite the rest
of the South Korea and the rest of today. I
think we really believe in the process. We really believe
in the plan. And I think two.

Speaker 11 (01:45:11):
Say also that the important thing is that we are
not talking only about to win the games, because that
is obvious that we want to win. But the important
is to be focused in how we need to build
our way, you know, to approach the games, how we
need to attack and every single perio during again, and

(01:45:32):
we need to be a stronger together.

Speaker 9 (01:45:33):
The communication, everything things like.

Speaker 11 (01:45:36):
Are really important also the tactics, you know, the approach
of the tactical approach important when we playing in some
way in another how we need.

Speaker 9 (01:45:46):
To be focused because that is a national team that demand.

Speaker 11 (01:45:51):
Be very concentrated and spend a lot of energy and
that is in the way that we want to work.
And it's important that the player start to realize how
we are, how we how we speak from them, and
it's important scene that they feel that they can come
here and fight for a for a police.

Speaker 9 (01:46:12):
I know it's with the oative to have the best
roster for.

Speaker 1 (01:46:19):
The for the woke up Restio Pochettino after the match
last night and the two nil win over Japan, So
bart final thoughts from you putting a bowl on this
one before you head back into work and do stuff
for the soccer for U S p O D.

Speaker 10 (01:46:33):
I gotta go back and sell the water and toilet paper.

Speaker 2 (01:46:41):
Yeah I do.

Speaker 10 (01:46:42):
Okay, John, I think this is great. My final not final,
But I can't take away from this camp is well
can we still see the better players? And I think
that's my concern is I'm not gonna say christ More
Bonn was bad because that is a that is false.

(01:47:03):
He was fine, Arson and Freeman, and Freeman I don't
think had a good game at all. I will say
he's been and of all the prospects, I think a
little disappointing. But you know, they were fine. What does
this like with the Jedi and death Right? What does
this look like with maybe the Adams McKinnie or Johnny

(01:47:25):
and Testament And you know, if we're true really trying
to find our best twenty three, I still don't. I
think we've seen them together. And that's my concern is
that you're going to take some of these performances and go, well, yeah,
that they were fine, but just because they were good,
but in this game doesn't mean there's something better because

(01:47:46):
it doesn't seem like tried it out the way that
we should. He's given a lot of and maybe maybe
he is fine with the evaluation that's a guy like
Kennedy and Testament, Johnny or even a guy like Scaley
or or you know, those types of players. Maybe that's true,
but I'm still concerned that we're not seeing being our

(01:48:08):
best group of players to get there. And we're now
just over two hundred and seventy days of World Cup,
so that's still a little along here, John, but we're
not quite gonna be pared. I feel like I can't
know that until we've come to the the roster for

(01:48:30):
the October campus seed. It hiss its mine who his
best twenty three to twenty sex. Whatever they end up
getting us for the World Cup players are.

Speaker 1 (01:48:42):
And I know that you and the soccer for US
PO DNIS will continue to look at it. Thank you
for fighting the gremlins that are in Hoover, Alabama and
making sure that the hamsters are behaving this morning.

Speaker 4 (01:48:55):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:48:55):
I know, I know that asking you to come in
while you're trying to do like nineteen different things is
a bit of a push. But thanks for coming in
this morning.

Speaker 2 (01:49:04):
Obviously.

Speaker 1 (01:49:04):
You know that we'll catch back up on Monday. We'll
talk about more things. We'll talk about the pod, we'll
talk about US soccer and all the things getting ready
for October window, which is only about a month away.
Go back in and sell things there in Hoover and
we'll catch up with you soon, my friend. Thanks for
dropping by as as we broke glass on you this morning.

Speaker 10 (01:49:23):
I have a wonderful day and I'll send this picture
with me in the pig.

Speaker 2 (01:49:27):
There you go, all right?

Speaker 1 (01:49:28):
So that's Bard Keeler Soccer for US Pod fighting all
the gremlins this morning in Hoover, Alabama, getting his thoughts.
I know Abby expected a lot more at this stage
when it came to the matchup last night. All right,
so let's say hid everybody that dropped into the twitch
pitch this morning morning, David Morning Locville. Yes, David, Marshall

(01:49:48):
Islands tea. It is a Marshall Islands tea right here.
Like I said, I wore it yesterday, but I only
wore it for like the show because I had some
other things to do. So I figured I'd go ahead
and bust it out again and and let everybody see
what's going on with our friends at the Marshall Islands
be Unlimited in Arkansas.

Speaker 2 (01:50:06):
And Abby did the legwork on this.

Speaker 1 (01:50:08):
We still need to try to convince them to reissue
this stuff because it was very, very popular, and I
think I probably ended up getting like the last two
T shirts that were available. So yes, Marshall Island tea.
And it was funny this morning when I was doing
a sports talk radio appearance in Columbus, Georgia, and I

(01:50:29):
was wearing its multimedia So you're doing audio and video.
So I was wearing this shirt and the host looked
at and he's a football guy. He played the University
of Georgia, and so he looks at this and he goes, oh, Marshall,
and I'm like, not the Marshal that you think. And
so I went and explained that this was not the
Thundering herd in Jim Donn and I explained our affinity

(01:50:53):
for our friends with the Marshall Islands, Lloyd Ours and
Matt Webb. And by the way, they were on I
think it was Sky or BBC the other day, once
again continuing.

Speaker 2 (01:51:02):
To have momentum going forward with the program.

Speaker 1 (01:51:05):
But yeah, so they're continuing to make the rounds on
the car wash overseas as they continue to go. But yep,
right here ward again just because Morning Pars, Morning Abby, Yes,
and Pars the the I guess it's SDHHSN the the
Unboxing Channel.

Speaker 2 (01:51:21):
Absolutely true. Now David's admitted this.

Speaker 1 (01:51:24):
He says, I dreamt that I met John last night
and had to introduced myself by my Twitch handle.

Speaker 2 (01:51:28):
Believe it or not, David, Actually, that's what people do.

Speaker 1 (01:51:33):
If if I haven't you know, if we haven't met
in person, and literally, that was how I saw Pars
for the first time. He goes It's Parsival, you know,
and then you know, you shake hands in the underbelly
of Mercedes ben Stadium. That was how I met Pars
and that was how Pars identified himself. So you would
not be alone in this so immediately, is that because
I watched soccer immediately before going to bed, Maybe David

(01:51:55):
I would say yes. Corey Griner once again a head
coach on the men's side for Emory University. It was
great to see him last night into Patburg the two
head coaches as a part of Jason's lecture series that
he has about Atlanta being Soccer City USA. So it
was great to see Corey last night as a part
of everything. And we're going to have some content for

(01:52:16):
the shows coming up that we have involving the grassroots
of the game and all of the cool stories that
we have that are going on. We're going to circle
back to a piece of history for Emory University on
the men's side, and that's going to be a part
of what's going on with the Red Clay Soccer Report,
where we kind of take the tour of everybody else
around the State, So Emory University coming up soon. We're

(01:52:38):
going to catch up with folks and go through a
piece of history at Emory and that'll be a part
of Red Clay. We've also got the Roots program coming
up where we kind of go through all the cool
stories that you might have missed in lower divisions and
markets outside the immediate SDH footprint. So those two shows
coming up here and debuting this month in short order.
So great to see Corey as well, and Wiley, good

(01:53:02):
to see you. Good morning, and Wiley was discussing let's
jumping around, I would imagine probably because of the age
group that was there. Music, fantastic light show as Bananas
and now he's pre ordering the tron Airy soundtrack. Morning
to Abby and once again Abby and David going through
the matchup and Parrs reminding us about the Seattle staff
member who got in his Let's see so Abby paid

(01:53:26):
a lot for her Paul McCartney tickets. Understand that definitely
was probably the last one expecting a lot more at
this stage, Abby and Abby is not the only one
that expected more at this stage. Crestal eleven, Good morning,
still concerned with the M and T not impressed with
a win against a beat team Japan side and so
Crest eleven do not be a stranger. Great to see

(01:53:47):
you and thanks for coming in and being a part
of the Twitch pitch. Let's break down where things are
in the World Cup. In of itself we mentioned the
Inner Confederation playoff March of twenty six. You get your
final two qualifiers. Six countries taking part. Each of the
five confederations outside of UEFA get one country. The host

(01:54:08):
gets a second slot, one from AFCON, one from Asia,
two from CONKA CAF to be decided. That's the group
play that we're seeing right now. Oceania is sending New
Caledonia and South America is sending Bolivia. The two nations
with the best FIFA World ranking seeded and go straight
into one of the two finals. The other four drawn

(01:54:28):
into play semis feeding through to play a seed for
one of the two places. Playoffs are due to be
held in one of the World Cup host nations as
a test event.

Speaker 2 (01:54:38):
And do not be surprised if we were too. Oh,
I don't know, get there.

Speaker 1 (01:54:41):
So Oceania right now once again New Zealand is in.
New Caledonia goes to the Inner Confederation playoff right now.
Round five is going on in Asia. Eight automatics one
enters the playoff. You have teams that have advanced. Japan
became the first to Quality five back on March twenty,

(01:55:01):
followed by Iran, Jordan, South Korea, Uzbekistan coming in for
the first time, and Australia. Six teams in Round four
are going to play each other once two matches in
one host country in October Qatar, UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Indonesia.
The group winners take the final two slots. The two
runners up go on to Round five a two legged

(01:55:24):
tie in November to earn the place in the inter
Confederation playoff. There will be a test Conker calf three
automatic two enter the playoff. So the two that we're
decided this week. Third round only kicked off about a
week ago. So here's how it looks. Group A Surinam, Guatemala,

(01:55:49):
El Salvador and so Surinam Guatemala, El Salvador and Panama
Panama and Surinam, El Salvador and Guatemala in the crossover,
Jamaica in control of Group B of Kirosau. Jamaica will
qualify if they win in Kirosau and at home to Bermuda,
and if Kirasau fail to beat Trinidad and Tobago, Group C,

(01:56:09):
honduraser and first, but everybody still within reach Nicaragua, Haiti,
Honduras and Costa Rica and then your crossovers to determine
what's gonna what it's gonna look like. There you've got Europe,
which still has a ways to go. Final four places
determined via the UEFA Playoff that's gonna be in March.
No path to the World Cup through the inter Confederation playoff.

(01:56:33):
Yuefa's playoff has sixteen teams, the twelve runners up, four
best ranked group winners who did not finish in the
top two in World Cup qualifying. So you have four roots,
four teams featuring one legged semis in a final priority
order for the four World Cup playoff places Spain, Germany, Portugal, France, England, Norway, Wales,

(01:56:54):
checchi At, Romania, Sweden, North Macedonia, Northern Island, Moldova and
San Marino. Our friends from San Marino still hanging out.

Speaker 2 (01:57:02):
Get this.

Speaker 1 (01:57:03):
Of the fourteen teams to win their unl groups, ten
of those in Pot one or Pot two so on
ranking would finish in the top two of their group.
If that comes to pass, North Macedonia, Northern Ireland, Moldova
and San Marino get playoff places seating Pot one, your qualifiers,

(01:57:30):
Pot two, fifth through eighth, Pot three, nine through twelve,
Pot four Nations League and you get your semi finals there.
So San Marino and Moldova still have an opportunity to
make it into the expanded World Cup, and if they did,
then you know that we would be all San Marino
all the time, we mentioned what happened in Conbo ball.

(01:57:52):
So for AFCAN right, now, here's what you're staring at.

Speaker 2 (01:57:59):
With all of the group.

Speaker 1 (01:58:02):
FIFA and CALF have yet to confirm how the second
place teams will be ranked, with only five teams in
Group A six and the others, so you've still got
some work to do. Round one that stage began November
twenty three, completed with two rounds played. In October, Morocco
became the first African nation to qualify, beating Niger. Tanzania

(01:58:24):
one point ahead of Niger for second. Niger has a
match in hand to Nisia followed on Monday, but only
thanks to a ninety fourth minute goal that gave them
a one MIIL one over Equatorial Guinea, now a battle
for second. Namibia needs one win against either Liberia or Tunisia.
If Liberia beat Namibia, they're back in contention ahead of

(01:58:44):
a trip to Equatorial Guinea. Malawi and Equatorial Guinea cannot
be ruled out if everything goes sideways for Namibia. Egypt
had a chance to punch their ticket, but they.

Speaker 2 (01:58:53):
Got a draw.

Speaker 1 (01:58:55):
Victory against rock bottom Jibouti should get Egypt over the
line in October. They need two points from their final
two matches Chibouti and Guinea Bassal. Burkina Fasso under pressure
for second place from Sierra Leone third versus second on
the next to last day at match day of the season,
Guinea Bissau could stay in contention. If they beat Ethiopia

(01:59:15):
and Burkina Fasso lose to Sierra Leone, there will be
a test trust me. Senegal comes from two goals down
in Group B to get a late one over to
our Congo. Senegal, it's in their hands to qualify. They've
got South Sudan and Mauritania. The r Congo has to
go to Togo and host Sudan. I hope that Senegal
slip up. Sudan must beat the ar Congo of have

(01:59:39):
a chance at second South Africa in Group C. Yet
to learn if there will be any punishment for playing
an eligible player in a match up in March, then
that could be a three zeerl loss, so they have
to keep.

Speaker 2 (01:59:50):
An eye on that.

Speaker 1 (01:59:52):
Wait is Zimbabwe home to Rwanda in October. They need
best place to challenge, but they have matches at Rwanda
and Nigeria. But you don't no Group CEE because of
the ineligible player in South Africa's possible punishment.

Speaker 2 (02:00:04):
Group D.

Speaker 1 (02:00:04):
Cape Verde, on the brink of their first ever World
Cup beating Cameroon Tuesday, need one win games in Libya
and at home to Eswatini. Cameroon are now under pressure
for second place from Libya final round Mauritius Cameroon, Cameroon
and Gola Libya. Cape Verdi Mauritius Libya.

Speaker 2 (02:00:24):
Group F.

Speaker 1 (02:00:26):
Ivory Coast gets a draw in Gabon, they'll qualify if
they beat the bottom two in October say Shells and
at home to Kenya. Gaboon have a trip to Gambia
host Burundi. Group G Algeria could only draw in Guinea.
After wins from Mozambique and Uganda, the group may still
have some life. Ghana in the box seat after they

(02:00:47):
beat Molly on Monday, Lots of football to go. Madagascar
three points behind Comoros, still in contention. In October, it's
Madagascar and Comoros unmatched Day nine Comoros and Ghana. Top
spot could be sealed on match day nine if Ghana
win in the car and Madagascar lose Round two in November,

(02:01:09):
four best runners up get playoffs to decide what one
country goes to the Inner Confederation playoff, and we mentioned
CONMEA ball fifteen to forty five have qualified Japan, New Zealand, Iran, Argentina, Uzbekistan,
South Korea, Jordan, Australia, Brazil, Ecuador, Uruguay, Columbia, Pedaguay, Morocco

(02:01:30):
and Tunisia. So one third of the field is in.
I feel like an animaniac right now. Once again, Japan
was the first one to qualify. So that's where we
are at the World Cup as of this very end
of window. Like I said, there'll be a test in
a bit what to watch, where to watch it, how

(02:01:51):
to watch it?

Speaker 2 (02:01:51):
Today?

Speaker 1 (02:01:52):
Once again tomorrow The Power hour an hour number two Nino,
when Nico will go over conmea ball and the fallout
will go over Intependente and the clubs and the copasuit Arcana,
all the other things going on in Europe that it's
on Nino's plate and with Nico will look at Major
League Soccer. We'll do juice boxes, we'll do lightning round,
and we'll find out about Seattle's response to what happened
in the league's cup punishments today. Jegermeister Cup, Semis, Rhode

(02:02:16):
Islandzach Republic, Hartford and Greenville. Those are on ESPN Plus
and Paramount Plus has actual action in USL Championship New
Mexico United, Detroit City that is at nine o'clock. College soccer,
there's plenty. You have three, six, nine, twelve, fifteen, seventeen

(02:02:36):
matches on the men's side, a lot of a ten.
You do have some acc you do have some Soacon,
You've got Ivy League, and you have some stuff out
west in the Big West. Six matches on the women's
side that include Georgia Southern Kennesas State. That's at seven
o'clock on ESPN Plus from down in Statesborough. You've also

(02:02:58):
got Miami and Wake on ACC network at eight Ball State, IPFW, Omaha, Creighton,
Sacred Heart, Bryant, South Dakota State and Drake and I
just know him as Aubrey Graham from his time on
to Grassy. So that's what to watch, where to watch it,
and how to watch it. Today, let me take the
tour of the papers. I know that we are in
added time and we're trying to see what else is

(02:03:21):
going on and let's see, let's see. I'm trying to
see if there are any other stories that are going
on that we might have to keep an eye on.
And so it appears is what we were discussing. The

(02:03:42):
game with the Barcelona's camp. No return against Valencia has
been delayed after the permit problem. So that is officially
official from Sidlow at The Guardian, and they're going to
have to play in other places until.

Speaker 2 (02:03:55):
Place is ready.

Speaker 1 (02:03:57):
Steve Cooper is now back in managing and he's at
Brundby in Denmark. He says, I want a team that
wins trophies, So Steve Cooper goes to Brounby. That was
announced yesterday. That was kind of a that was a
big deal. Steve Cooper back in the game, and he
is going to Brunby and so keep an eye on

(02:04:20):
his success there and how much patience they have involving
Steve Cooper coming in. Let's see Holland scores five and
eleven one win forty eight goals in forty five matches
for Norway. And apparently they are going to play, meaning Barcelona.
They're going to have to play at the Estadi Johann Krouf,

(02:04:40):
where officials, according to Tom all Nut at the Times,
have had to check electronics and Wi Fi.

Speaker 2 (02:04:47):
For the attending press.

Speaker 1 (02:04:51):
Joan Desby training crab base normally used by their reserve
and the women's teams club had to be given special
permission by La Liga to play the Valencia match there
given league rules stating minimum capacity for league is eight.
A clause in the regulation states exceptions can be made
for architectural region reasons, which has enabled to leg it
A Barcelona the green light. Wednesday morning, officials and technicians

(02:05:17):
went to the Estadi yawn Krouf to make quote relevant
audits and reviews to make sure the ground is capable
of hosting a fixture, checks on the stadium electronics and access,
a new Wi Fi connection and var cameras had to
be installed. Barcelona City Council has yet to sign off

(02:05:38):
on the required construction certificate, according to local reports. In
a statement last night, Barcelona said the club is working
intensively to obtain the necessary administrative permits for the opening
of the Spotify camp know in the near future. Atlanta
Fork Club VP of institutional Affairs told Catalunia Radio yesterday
first phase is complete and they hope to quote solve

(02:05:59):
the more bureaucratic part next week end.

Speaker 2 (02:06:01):
Quote.

Speaker 1 (02:06:03):
Barcelona have been using the fifty five thousand seat capacity
Olympic Stadium in Montjuique for the last two years. Returned
there as a possibility, but it was already booked for
a music concert, so they couldn't use it. Barcelona obviously
wants to play PSG at the camp now and you
got to keep an eye on that. Valencia fans will
be given, according to Radio Cadena Sayre, two hundred ninety

(02:06:26):
tickets Barcelona seats allocated to season ticket holders after a
random draw on Friday morning. A random draw and the
visitors get two hundred and ninety seats. That's it, two
hundred ninety seats. Amanda Staveley and her company could revive

(02:06:50):
a spurs interest next year. The consortium, represented by British
by the British Business exec will continue to monitor events
at the club before deciding whether to make any kind
of further approach. But what you had to do in
the short term you had to state your intent. You
had to basically sit there and say, yeah, we are
interested or no we're not. And so you have a

(02:07:12):
man to Staveley and her group keeping an eye on
everything going on. But apparently they're not interested right now.
They're gonna kind of by their time and keep an eye.

Speaker 2 (02:07:22):
On are we in, are we out? Are we interested?
Maybe maybe not, So we'll see.

Speaker 1 (02:07:29):
That's it for another go round to this show, and
thanks once again to Bart, thanks to Dylan, thanks to
jareded and thanks to Tyler. A lot of folks talking
about a lot of stuff here on a wall. Pass Wednesday,
we'll be back at it again a little less than
twenty two. Remember, we'll discuss everything kind of getting you
ready for the weekend, all your news of the morning,
Power Hour, THENO and Nico at ten and ten thirty

(02:07:51):
in the last half hour going over everything getting you
ready four said weekend promise. Catch up with Dan or
Lwitz obviously after the result that happened yesterday, and we
will play that for you in the Friday show.

Speaker 2 (02:08:06):
We'll catch up with him on Thursday night. It's another
go round of SDHAM.

Speaker 1 (02:08:09):
Thanks for dropping by, Thanks to all of you guys
on the twitch pitch as well, and thanks for being
a great part of our audience as we continue to
roll here in the midweek. Since it is the end
of the show that means I get to do this,
back at it again, the less than twenty two mouch ploty.

Speaker 2 (02:08:22):
I'll play it safe. We'll catch up with you later
