Offiziell unterstützt WhatsApp derzeit keine kommerzielle Nutzung, nicht-kommerziellen Nutzung durch Unternehmen wird jedoch geduldet. Irgendwie auch ganz verständlich: WhatsApp will zu keinem Spam-Kanal werden, von dem die Benutzer in Scharen fliehen. Der CEO von WhatsApp Jan Koum meinte dazu vor kurzem: „We‘re not interested in bombarding our users with: ‚Hey, play this game, play this game.‘ It gets annoying, it gets in the way of messaging and it gets in the way of staying in touch with people who are important to you“. Dennoch wird WhatsApp früher oder später damit anfangen müssen Geld zu verdienen. Vor allem, nachdem es für 19 Milliarden von Facebook gekauft wurde. Eine Monetarisierung der Benutzerdaten wie bei Facebook scheidet wohl aus, denn die sind bereits so verschlüsselt, dass WhatsApp selbst keinen Zugriff mehr darauf hat.Popular Podcasts
