(00:55):
game to talk about. The grandOld Arena lived up to its name last
week, Tony, But apparently we'regonna be dried out after a soggy break
here for season six, episode ten. I have some theories of what happened.
People might be sabotaging some megastars, not helping them, piping out.

(01:17):
We'll talk about it. But man, it's been a great couple of first
weeks to hear in January, andI'm really excited for soccer's action coming up.
Yeah, a super busy, semidefining period of the soccer season is
about to get underway. We thoughtwe were tiptoeing up to it, but
now we're just gonna dive right in. After a week off. On the

(01:40):
show, tonight, Soccers get washedout? How do you get rained out?
Indoors? We'll explain what happened atthe Chonga arena ed what's coming up
this weekend as well. San Diegohas signed one of their college draft bits.
We'll let you know about one Salazarand when he might make his soccer's
debut might be sooner than you think. We got a special guest I'm really

(02:02):
looking forward to tonight, oh ScarSanchez joining us live from Uevo Leon from
Monterrey. At the bottom of thehour. He's gonna recap what's happened the
last couple of weeks Monterey, notjust sweeping Chihuaha in a back to back
once, doing it twice or straightwins for the flash over the Savage and
now here comes Chiuala this weekend, coming into San Diego for the first time.

(02:25):
So we're gonna get the full rundownon the state of football. Rapido
Serl, Frontera, con nuestro amigo, oh Scar Sanchez. That's at the
bottom of the hour. Five thirtyand m ASL news. We got UCFC
blues Utica loses twice on the roadand basically drops a goaltender every thirty minutes.

and we sure will. It's allahead on the show of record in the

that we are happy to service eachand every week. Tony, well,
how are you. I am energized, I am not bruising, I am
not licking any sort of victory woundsthat might have taken place over this past

(03:58):
weekend. Obviously for things to come, and definitely, you know, everybody
here who's tuned in, i'd hopeis in the know, and hopefully nobody's
going to be shocked to know thatthere aren't gonna be any highlights or recaps
for the game that was not playthis last weekend, as as I said,
either Soccer's wise or Celebrity halftime showwise. And you know, a

(04:20):
surprise I was. I didn't knowthis was a card that can be dealt
at any point. But you knowwhat, we live and we learn,
and you know that's a that's aone off the Bengo card for Pachang Arena.
Yeah, hey, can't close upthe old place without first give it

(04:41):
a little wash, little subterranean washthere, and we're gonna dig. We're
gonna dig into it. Momentarily,I just want to say, for everyone
who has supported the new radio show, thank you so much, Annie and

check it out Annie and Elston Mondaythrough Friday ten to two. So I've
already had a four hour show inthe Rearview Mirror last week. We had
our announcement day, the day ofthe show Tony. Today, just a
regular full on four hour show.So digging into our number five here,

(05:47):
building my stamina back up to beextra strong talker talk, very strong,
ash Ash. You got to getsome good that they's talking and he oh
it's good. Yeah, that's acompletely different time in my period. But
it works. It checks out right, Hans and Franz hopefully they do.
You know, there's a there's ascript. This is a different, different

(06:09):
podcast at this point, but there'sa script for Arnie. But man,
look, I don't have to tellyou what a herculeting effort you're doing in
these hours. So I just hopeand then we've had these talks in privately,
just want to make sure that you'retaking care of yourself getting some rest,
getting some some vitamins, some someliquids, hydration. Food was a

(06:29):
big topic. At what point areyou going to eat? You have a
five minute break to just snack onpower bars. I'm still figuring that out,
bro. Yeah, yeah, onepower bar at twelve has kind of
been my thing so far. Onepower bar at twelve o'clock, and you
know what happened today. I forgotthe power bar. I forgot to have
the power bar, and then Iwas like starving at one point thirty I

(06:51):
was getting angry by the end ofthe show. So we're figuring it out.
I took a solid fifteen minute powernap from like four twenty five to
forty before this, so I feelnow refreshed, revitalized. I've got my
coffee with the Pug, the Pugmug, and I'm ready to go.
Thank you to everyone who's helped theshow. And like I said, you

(07:13):
can check it out. Don't don'tabandon us now, but later you can
go check out the replay of today'sshow and every show on YouTube on the
ninety seven through the fan channel.Okay, so let's get into it.
Friday morning, In fact, Iwas at the station getting ready, and
we were about to have our weeklypre match meeting that the soccers have and
I was on the phone, dialedin and then it's like, oh nope,

(07:36):
never mind, hang on, nomeeting. The game's canceled, Like
uh what? No game Sunday? What it's the league folding? What's happening?
Like yeah, just like what's goingon? And then turns out actually
a water main broke underneath Pachang Arena, San Diego. Exactly when that took

(08:01):
place? Good question. I don'tthink anyone necessarily has the answer. What
it appears is that when folks showedup, you know, the morning shift
at the Channga Arena on a morningof a goals home match, they walked
in to find just about ankle deepwater. Here are some pictures that were

(08:24):
taken by members of our San DiegoSOACAR staff from the day. That's the
bottom of the tunnel. You've beenthere many times, Tony. You can
just see the dirt and crud thathad gathered as a result, and you
can see that dude over there bythe little separator fence. He's ankle deep,

(08:45):
like he's straight up ankled deep downthere trying to sort through the mess
there. It is a little bitclose up just to get a feel of
what was going on. So thewhole weekend was canceled. The Goals were
supposed to play for they were supposedto play Saturday. We of course were
supposed to play Sunday. All ofthat got canceled. They had to suction

(09:07):
out all the water, try anddrain everything. They had to take all
the turf that was inside rolled up, and then getting you know, soaked
this deep in muck water out tothe parking lot and like just literally put
it out in the parking lot andthen I think it drizzled on like Saturday,

(09:28):
you know. But yeah, theyus see one of the just unbelievable,
right, that's that's the hallway togo out on the ice, and
you can just see how natsy itwas. Yeah, that's absolutely insane to
have that happen, and just thedamage right that concurs, and then the
repairs at this point to get allthat done because it's not like they're going

(09:52):
to take their time. This needsto be done as soon as possible.
And I mean, I can't imaginejust what it just does to throw a
talk about a monkey wrench, thisisn't affecting just one team, It's affecting
multiple teams, multiple people, andpeople who work at the arena for those
events as well. And it's unfortunate, especially with what was lined up to

(10:16):
be a pretty good San Diego Soccersmatch. Yeah, absolutely, Soccers and
Outlaws. There's so there's so much, or I should say proper gramm,
there are so many knock on effectsto what happened as a result of these
postponements. Well, let's give youan example. The Texas Outlaws couldn't change

(10:39):
their flight. They had their flightsset to come into San Diego on Saturday.
It would have cost their club aroundtwenty thousand dollars to change their flights.
So they flew into set to SanDiego on Saturday for a match they
didn't have. They stayed at thesoccers team hotel for a match they didn't
have. Well, now they're goingto have to come back again. That's

(11:03):
another flight, that's more hotel staysfor a day or a night. The
home team is required to pay forthe visiting team. Well, who's paying
this time? Is it the arena? Because this is all a direct result
of the arena's problem, Or arethe Soccers forced to pay again. Rescheduling

(11:24):
comes down, well, where canyou fit it in now, because you're
not gonna fly Texas out here threetimes, You're going to fly them out
twice. So is there another tripto Empire that they could tack on here
or is it going to be assimple as the day before or the day
after the next time Texas comes totown, which is Thursday, February fifteenth.

(11:48):
All of this, the travel impact, the hotel impact, the league
schedule. When can Texas come back? I looked it up. The day
before the next Soccers match is aGOLs match on Valentine's Day, So if
they bring back the Outlaws, wellthen it would be on the thirteenth and

(12:09):
the fifteenth potentially. Okay, well, now we're talking about like four days
hotel stay as opposed to a coupleof days hotel stay. So all of
it is a big old mess andit all needs to get sorted and it
will be rescheduled. Date to bedetermined. One thing to know for sure,

(12:30):
if you have or had a ticketfor the January seventh match, that
ticket is good for whenever this matchis rescheduled, and stay tuned. Soccer's
overtimesd Soccers dot Com Soccer social mediaat San Diego Soccers. As soon as
we get a rescheduled announcement, youknow, obviously we will put that out
there. But what a mess. It's no one's fault. I mean,

(12:54):
I even everyone's like, well theold arena, the it's a water main.
Yeah, Like that's not like,oh well every ten years you got
to replace the water main like thesethings did they wait? Yeah? Probably
probably, like it's been something thatwas probably used that was not up to
code for an arena per se that'sgetting built nowadays. I'll tell you this

(13:18):
much. Front Wave Arena will nothave water main breaks anytime soon. Absolutely
better not better not. But Imean the thoughts and just the conspiracies did
start coming in. You see moreAlicia having her take on who who done
it? But again I like hertheory. By the way, Cabana Boy

(13:41):
Jeff, we talked about this lastweek, the King of the media game,
but he couldn't be at Sunday's matchbecause his daughter was moving to Nashville.
Was he the one? Did hesnake sneak in during a e W
wrestling earlier with a lead pipe witha with a pick axe, well make

(14:01):
sure. I mean, that's thething. The most electrifying move in sports
entertainment was performed that Monday, onMonday Night Raw by none other than Dewey
as we call him in the biz, Johnson the Rock making a surprise comeback
and shattering hearts of people who didn'tattend because they had to do a separate

(14:24):
podcast aka me because it's been alifelong dream. But the impact of such
a human was probably too much forthe foundation and the water mains to handle.
And I mean, look, theycall him the great One for a
reason and made a great impact, flooded the arena, and maybe Cabana Boy
Jeff has the Rocks contact number. And you know, I'm just putting putting

(14:48):
things together here that are making alittle bit too much sense. But either
way, yes, it doesn't workunless it's a conspiracy. I mean,
just combanda boy Jeff committing terrible actyou know, of sabotage to burst the
water main. I mean, butif the Rocks involved, now your first

(15:11):
you had my curiosity, Now youhave my attention. Yeah, like I
know ww's I've heard Cabana Boy Jeffgive tickets away to these events for wrestling,
So there's a connection there. I'vetried to win them. But it's
all good. It's all good.People will have their shot at me,
hopefully if it works out. Andif not, guess what, I'm on

(15:31):
top of Patanga Arena two and zeroundefeated. What can I say? I'm
okay with that one. Well, let's just say this. The intent of
the organization is to reschedule the mediagame. I mean, yes, also
to reschedule the actual game, butfor the more for the bigger and more

(15:52):
important news. The media game intendsto be rescheduled as well. However,
I'm here to tell you probably won'tbe rescheduled to whenever that rescheduled game is
because if we're gonna start, ifwe're gonna drop that on a Tuesday night,
I'm not gonna put the media gameon that. Yeah. Yeah,

(16:14):
but first off, because it's aTuesday night. Second of all, the
media is working. It's a Tuesdaynight. So I'm kind of thinking maybe
Star Wars night might be the placeto go. Okay for this, I
mean why not, you know, and you know, we can decide who's
the Jet High and who's the Sith. I like that. I like that

(16:37):
actually, that's a that's a reallygood, really good. I mean,
I guess I'm the heel in this, So Team Tony's a sith. I
mean maybe by the point that ifwe did do that, if we did
Star Wars Nights, Star Wars Night'sMarch first, if we did that,
couldn't I completely reconstitute the teams, like, I mean, there will be

(17:00):
things out I don't know. Yeah, I don't think you're gonna have By
the way, Andres Jime Mendez,he's gonna be back at school. You're
gonna lose your ringer, Yes heis. And you know what, that's
okay. I may need that extrachallenge this time. Maybe we can get
the Steve Garcia from the Emo Brownpodcast to finally show up. I don't
know. I mean, I've finallyreached out to a man. Yeah,

(17:22):
with three months notice. Maybe maybewe can finally get Steve o to Gracis
and play for the South Bay onceagain. God only knows. Yeah,
So that's the situation. Once again. Waterman broke the Arena as indicated that
they're backup open for business Tomorrow nightThe Goals host Coachella Valley. Friday and

(17:48):
Saturday, The Goals host IOWA andgames on, so that means our game's
on too on Sunday night. Sowhatever happened underneath the ice is going to
be ready. The turf and theboards are going to be ready. You
know. I saw JG put inthe chat that it didn't smell too bad

(18:08):
when the soccers group, and bythe way, you know, shout out
the soccer's front office, the Sealsfront office. They were down there Monday
morning working together cleaning out the storageareas which they share underneath the arena that
also were impacted by water. Apparentlynot too terribly at least as far as
the soccers were concerned in terms ofdamage or things lost, but nonetheless,

(18:30):
all of that was happening. SoWednesday night, tomorrow night, you know,
goals are back, so Sunday we'llbe rolling. The one real question
I have, and I asked itof our staff this morning, is if
anyone had unrolled the turf yet,Because sometimes when something gets wet and then
it's kind of kept wet, it'sstored wet. There can both be obviously

(18:53):
a stinking issue when it's unrolled, but also there can be a warping issue.
The turf can get rippled h andso I'm I'm very much hoping that's
not the case going forward, butuh, we're gonna find out. And
I mean the Seals turf is downthere too, so you know, I'm

(19:14):
hopeful for these arena teams that themore serious damage as it has been avoided
because otherwise that built for the arenajust goes up, up, up up
up even right Yeah, no,just again turf talk, I guess.
But in other places in football Rapia, for the majority of football Drapulo in
Mexico, it's all an outdoor venue. So you would have on the turf
the little black pebbles that are madeout of rubber that you would potentially see

(19:40):
a lot of them on the turffield that you see here. But that's
also to help the list, uhthe ye you I Craig, Okay,
cool, but it helps for tobe able to play on it when it
is wet and not have so somuch extensive damage to the actual turf,

(20:02):
something that isn't available for the turfat the changa that the soccers have because
that's just ligit legitimately carpet and it'svery high end carpet, believe it or
not. It's it's it's special sometimesindeed magical, you might even say.
So all of that is just tobe determined and there's nothing to be done
about it, and there's no oneto get mad at. You know,

(20:25):
I mean, a pipe broke andit stinks and it creates. Believe me,
the arena got it the worst ofeverybody, and then behind the arena,
the goals got it the worst becauseit was it was on the day
that they were supposed to start afive game homestand in the in the span
of like eight days, and thentwo of those games got completely blown out
for a team that plays a lotmore games than we do. So you

(20:49):
know, big time mess. Let'shope it all gets cleaned up. And
that's awesome. One bit of soccer'snews before we get to our guest coming
up at the bottom of the hour. And once again I think we brought
it up right earlier, but OscarSanchez is joining us masl Di Goorash and
a journalist. Soccer journalist covers allthe teams down in Monterey, the t

(21:11):
Grace and everyone aredos everyone in between. So looking forward to him at the
bottom of the hour, soccers didmake an announcement today and I don't know
if it's up on the MASL websiteyet, and if not, that means
Soccer's Overtime is breaking news once again, breaking news and breaking hearts. The

(21:33):
Soccers have signed one of their collegedraft picks, Juan Salazar, the third
round pick Colombian third round selection forSan Diego out of Point lom Nazarene University.
Previously played at cal State San MarcosUniversity. Left footer was first team

(21:53):
All Pack West his senior year atPLNU, led them to conference title,
led them to a playoff win.Outstanding young man who after the draft has
been able to come out Tony toSoccer's training and over the course of the
last couple of weeks of Soccer's traininghas made enough of impression that, as

(22:17):
you can see there, he issigning his name on the dotted line in
order to become the newest member ofthe San Diego Soccers. So the thing
that excites me about this is justyou know, limited reports that I've received
Tony, but apparently Wan Salazar,he's got some bite to him. He's
a player that's got some intensity, some ferocity, you know. The Las

(22:38):
Sangre des Colombia is in his veins, and it's something where I mean like
he's he got into it with someguys, you know, and he's got
that left foot, you know,a left footer that can shoot. That's
something he's really got. You know. Callen mentioned, you know calling games
at Point Loma. You know, good really good shot for One Salazar.

(23:02):
So I'm really excited to see whathe can do. And I think we're
gonna get a chance right away tofind out because soccers are playing a futsal
exhibition Thursday up at the Anaheim ConventionCenter inside the United Soccer Coaches Convention the
what are they calling it? TheMASL Pro Indoor Cup. Okay, do

(23:30):
you think if the Strikers beat OneSalazar and Julian Garcia and Max Rodriguez and
the rest of the kids that weput out there as the soccers on Thursday,
do you think they'll hang a bannerfor being a MASL Pro Indoor Cup
champions. Absolutely, And it's goingto be a giant celebration and thanking the
contributions of Michael, Fabian and Bonsefor coming in and really elevating the empire

(23:56):
above the legendary San Diego soccers andsomething that they can never take away is
this meaningless, meaningless victory over SanDiego, which, look, everybody's gonna
go ahead and have right, LikeI guess, even if it's an exhibition
and you land some good punches onTyson, you landed some good punches,

(24:17):
but you know it's not the same. It's not the same. It's nowhere
near a competition that you know, anybody would really should take seriously. Not
not to discourage people from actually attendingand going, however, just be prepared
and adjust those field goals or thoseyes. So five o'clock kickoff Thursday inside

(24:42):
the Anaheim Convention Center. If youhave a pass for the convention, you
see it. You know for thesame charge there are a certain number of
tickets available you can go to.Really, the best thing I think is
call eight sixty six seven nine ninegoals cal Spencer eight sixty six seven nine

(25:02):
to nine goal. She can setyou up. I think there's a portal
to it somewhere on the soccer's website. But I just don't want to promise
that this is a big deal forthe MAASL. This is way more a
league thing. The MAASL likes tohave a presence inside United Soccers Coaches Convention.
This is like the biggest soccer coachesconvention in the country at this time
of year. It was in KansasCity a year ago and they had a

(25:26):
comments match like that night at KemperArena, tied into it and had a
huge crowd. So the MAASL istrying to create these ties or trying to
create ties and adjacencies to the outdoorsport to the more traditional American soccer ecosystem.
This is another way to do that. It's the first time ever inside
the convention that a game is ofany kind is being played. So that's

(25:51):
really cool and it's cool that theMASL is leading the way in that sense.
Now, is it an indoor soccermatch. It's not. It's futsal.
They'll have the you know that littlecarpety it's not even carpet, it's
the little rubbery surface for the littlealmost looks like flat lego pieces, you
know. And they'll be rolling itout there four v four and it's gonna
start at five. It'll be twotwenty minute halves. It'll blow right through.

(26:14):
It'll be done at six. They'llsign some autographs afterwards. So for
the league, it's great to answerSusan's question. Will it be streamed?
It won't, It won't. Itwas gonna be, it was gonna be.
I was gonna do the game withPhilly. Now my understanding is that
the Strikers found out what the costwas essentially of doing it, and look,

(26:37):
if it was us, we wouldhave said no as well to the
cost of what it was going tocost to do the broadcast from inside the
ACC. So I believe Philly isdoing PA for the event, and I'm
I'm just gonna I'm gonna be there. I'm gonna have my phone, I'll
take care of some soccer social media, I'll take some clips. Literally,

(26:59):
I don't know that any soccers willplay. I heard maybe I heard maybe
Brandon. Maybe maybe Brandon. Wedon't really have a soccer's two team to
just roll out there anymore. Yeah, exactly, So a couple of guys.
But listen, Friday the team fliesto Tacoma. Saturday they play Tacoma,

(27:23):
Sunday they fly home, and Sundaythey played Chihuahua. So anybody doing
anything Thursday on the UH on thethe plastic turf of futsal seems silly,
right, like why would you?Why would you do that? And I'm
sure we won't or at least Ihope, So yeah, no exactly,

(27:47):
And I guess you know some ofthe comments you're like Hyrus is called the
why risk anybody? Really this isnothing to really, you know, in
retrospect, you don't want to havea situation where you have to start a
sentence with, well and with inhindsight or in retro maybe we shouldn't have
done this, or maybe we shouldn'thave thrown this person out. And again
with that obviously signing of the playerand the lack of soccers too, this

(28:11):
really kind of answers that question thatwe had at the beginning of the season
of where's the depth gonna come in? And you know, having these games,
it's great experience for Kwan Satasata comingin and getting to get us footing
and really being able to have abit more of a scout if you're out
there and you can give us alittle bit more insight of what his footwork

(28:32):
is. And it works for thatsense. But uh, and again for
the league image, I can seeit being in that positive But overall I
think it's the right call to nothave any of the soccers who are going
to be playing for actual points inthe in the league that matters, and
everybody's still gunning for you. Ithink you should save those for especially for
this long road trip coming up.Yeah, mar Alicia wants to know if

(28:56):
someone on Facebook good live stream it. I would like to know, we'll
lane Smith's daughter in lobby there, because if it's not a Facebook live stream
from her, you know what,I'm yeah, I'm not interested, not
interested. I only she is thequeen of this particular realm, and I
dare not trespass on these hallowed grounds. All right, let's get it's the

(29:23):
bottom of the hour. Let's headsouth of the border and welcome in a
good friend. I met him multipleyears ago, it might have been a
decade ago, when the soccer hastraveled down to Monterey. At that time,
he was doing play by play andcolor commentary for the Monterey Flash.
You've since seen him as a topinterviewer of some of the Spanish speaking players

(29:47):
of the Major Arena Soccer League onthe MHL Figuras podcast and show on Major
Arena Soccer League. He joins USfrom Nueva leone from Monterey. Our friend
Oscott Sanchez here making his debut onSoccer's Overtime. Oh Scart, Creig Tony
here with you much as classes amigofor part. Thank you very much for

(30:15):
having me, Greg Tony. Let'stalk about indoor soccer. Let's do it.
By the way, I just wantto say we are so thankful anytime
I would it would be very hardif you invited me to come down and
do an interview in en Espanol.Solmente so so appreciative of you speaking in
English. Part of the northstro audiencelook at that Spanglish. So first things

(30:41):
first, tell us about Masli, tell us about the work you've done.
Yeah. Yeah, we tried tohave the best Hispanic players to our audience,
you know, to to have theirhistory, to know how do they

(31:06):
came to the indoor soccer game andhow they are doing now in our league.
I think it's a good sport andI think that people like it.
And obviously I like to to speakwith all of our best players in the
league right absolutely, and I meana lot of the players that are coming

(31:29):
in you know the US who ishe keep Usakstan at all? That the
best one of the best teams rightnow is the Monterey Flash. How impressed
have they been this this season sofar? Yeah, there have been very,
very good. I honestly, I'ma little surprised, not because the

(31:52):
Flash, but just because Chihuahua.I didn't expect Chihuahua was going to be
before, I know, with Montereyat this time, you know, I
thought there was going to be moreeven that the Boat in this at this
stage of the season. But fourgames against them and four wins for Monterey.

(32:15):
I think they're doing a great, great job and obviously playing two and
two two home away, so thatmakes harder the thing for Monterey and Shihua.
I think they don't affect this obviouslyat least one game. I can't

(32:37):
tell that they have in mind to. But I don't know. I know
Monterey is doing it good, andI think it's gonna it's gonna be better
in the in the season, butright now it's a surprise for me these
results see tambien istmus Soprandidos Parlos Marcredoris very surprised to see four wins for

(33:07):
Monterey, but I am curious somany players from San Diego now are playing
for Flash, Iram Poi Luiz andIsmail Rojo, Irvin Mohika. How have
those players helped put Monterey into awinning position. I think that the best

(33:37):
decision that the front office of Montereynot to hire indoor soccer players. You
know, last season they tried tohave former soccer stars and now they find
or they look for indoor soccer players. So I think that's the key of

(33:58):
this good start is male rock whois doing good, is doing good.
I think that that is the main, the main reason that Monterey is so
good at the start. No,absolutely, But and the question I kind

(34:20):
of want to place in here is, like you mentioned the players that are
not indoor soccer players. You haveone that iob who's who's still playing?
You have these names that are notindoor soccer players. How how is are
you seeing them adapt into the leaguethis at this point and lets in the
end, is there a chance forthis to really be the makings of a

(34:44):
good team as we see Empire tryingto do? Yes, Marco, I
think is doing it good. Ihave seen a lot of former soccer players,
stars that come to indoor soccer andthey or they are not that good

(35:07):
that they were on the outdoor field, you know. But I think Marco
Faveni is doing good. It's oneof the best players that had adapt so
fast to indoor soccer. It's noteasy. It's a different sport. I
always say that it's a different sportand you need to have different different skills

(35:27):
you have. You have to behonest and say it and say, okay,
in outdoor soccer, I was astar, but now I'm starting I'm
new, I'm not and anyone here, you know, you have to be
humble. And I think Marco isdoing it good, not not not too
must players have done that, youknow, And I think Marko is doing

(35:50):
good. Let's seepon, say whatdid I do it? Good? Is
good? But being honest, he'snot as star as he was an outdoor
or he's just a good player untilnow. Let's see what happened when he
had more experience, more seasons. But at this point, I think Marco
is doing good. It surprised mehow good he's doing. We're talking with

(36:16):
those Carr Sanchez live from Monterrey andwe thank everyone. I know there's a
little delay, but it's sounding great. Thank you ore Scar, you are
doing incredibly. Let me ask youa question now about Chihuahua, because while
Monterrey four and oh undefeated, amazing, Chihuahua has lost four in a row.
Now they are now in a dangerspot in terms of even making the

(36:40):
playoffs. And of course they faceSan Diego next. So we know many
players left the Savage moved to theFlash, guys like Uriel Zuart, like
Torres Gonzamas. Is that the situation? Are there coaching questions? What do
you think is happening in Chihua andare they planning to make any changes?

(37:06):
I think they lost some players, yeah, like Torres, like likes like
Swasi, and I think they hiredsome Brazilian players that had not They are
not playing. I don't know whathappened. I don't know from footsal they
brought them to indoor and they arenot playing. I don't know what happened.

(37:29):
I think that was maybe the mistakewhat they didn't calculate at this point,
you know. But I think they'regoing to be good. They have
an incredible facility that is, youknow, smaller, and they they have
an advantage with the other team. They had a good team, very fast

(37:51):
team. That's what what's that's oneof their main strange and they think they're
going to be good, but theywere surprised about the Flash. They played
the those four are against Flash, you know, so that's why maybe they
have a too money loses in arow. Now they're going to San Diego.

(38:14):
I know, the tough team inthe league, you know, one
of the best, maybe the bestteam in the league. It's gonna be
hard. I think is gonna beIt's going to improve, but it's it's
now they are having a bad time, but I think it's not gonna be
too long. Arenas the arenas thatyou know, Savage ass corners fort Arenas

(38:40):
intimately smaller. But over in Monterey, how are the fans taking to the
Flash? What's the situation with theattendants? Philosophidos ConA Stallendo playing in a
new location now playing in Arena Aregos. Is that affecting attendance? Is Chili
Willy okay? Does he like it? What's the situation over Monterey? Well,

(39:05):
Arena Urregos was the original spot.First team in the city play in
that arena at the beginning. Theywere two championships. I don't know,
it's a traditional spot for indoor soccernow, I think for the organization is

(39:30):
a better location because it had moreadvantage for them. Obviously, Arena Monterre
is a huge scenario and look surea scenario, but for the team for
indoor soccer, I think it's morecomfortable Arena Warres. That makes a lot

(39:52):
of sense. And the Flash arejust doing great. We are watching them
from afar because in San Diego weknow it's Monterey over there, it's us
over here who's going to wind upwith the most points in the league.
We are paying very close attention tothe Monterey Flash. I always pay attention

(40:12):
to my friend Oscar Sanchez and allthe great work you do. How can
people follow you on social media andfind out everything that you are doing?
Yeah, thank you, Greg.Instagram is at eleven one one. Oh
Sanchez at X is the opposit atoh Sanchez eleven and Faithbook is the same

(40:43):
at eleven oh Sanchez. I loveit and I follow you on both and
thank you so much for your time. We'll catch up with you again later
in the year, and of course, who knows, maybe a Monterey San
Diego final. We can only dreamof such a great event, but either
way, always a pleasure to seeyou and to speak with you, and
thank you so much for being onthe show. Thank you guys for having

(41:08):
me, and you know, anytimeyou need me, I'll be It's a
pleasure for me. Just which isclass there is as Car Sentienz life from
Afghanistan. No, I'm kidding.I love that he's the new skun stud

(41:35):
for a second delay. They aretreating me well here Monterrey. Thanks to
everybody. Obviously, you know wehad we had a little bit of a
transmission delay there, but I actuallyit worked out really really well and Oscar
in Anglass that was terrific. Ithink for the league. I was thinking

(41:57):
about it just coming into the weekend. I'm like, what's the big story?
The big story is Monterey. Montereyis the story of the MASL right
now. They're the number one teamin the league and I'm here on a
soccers show saying that you can't goany other way right now. The two
teams aren't going to face one anotherthe entire season. For the first time,
there will be no flash soccers match, So it's just us watching them

(42:20):
from lacrosse, them watching us fromlacrosse. Who can drop a point?
You know? The flash have droppedone point. They won an overtime game
in Kansas City. So that's theone sliver of light for the soccers to
the MAASL shield. All we gotto do is win all twenty four matches
in regulation and we're set. That'sall we gotta do. That's it.

(42:45):
But honestly, Tony, everyone expectedChihuahua to win at least one of those
four matches, if not too.Yeah. So those are points that the
Those are points the Flash picked upthat no one thought they would and that's
not going to be easy to makeup. Yeah. And you know,
to the point that Oscotto is makingright now is that there are some question

(43:07):
marks along with Chihuahua side, thereare some Brazilian players that they brought in
from the footsal side of things thathaven't really made an appearance or an impact
at all this season. I thinkthat's exactly what Oscotta was saying. With
what the success has been for MontereyFlash is they went out and scouted indoor
soccer specific players. The transition andthe flowers that they gave Marco Fabian are

(43:30):
great. That the ability to turninto an outdoor player to the indoor player
humble yourself and really, you know, be part of the team. Being
nobody in a sense is great, but there's again a very specific niche skill
set that you need to have inorder to click in the indoor soccer sense
at the professional level, and it'snot easy, which is even of a

(43:52):
bigger achievement for Monterrey and what theyhave done in this season so far.
It's a testament to great coaching, great players. Arena Aregos, as you
heard, also is really complimenting Flashat this point because we mentioned it before.
Arena Montre is huge. It's it'sit's it's almost like playing the equivalent

(44:13):
of stable Center in a sense.Right, you can put the soccers at
this staple center and it's going tobe this huge empty cathedral of echoes from
Rufo stan Taocho. But if youare on the players, it's a completely
different beast, especially in this sport. So true. And it's a much
much smaller venue, much smaller field. It's just like Chibuawa. They're playing

(44:37):
pinball down there, So every teamthat goes down to Mexico has to to
play pinball. They're not gonna endBefore when you went to Arena Monterrey,
you're like, well, hey, full sized field, regular match, full
sized field, put five thousand peoplein there. Like you said, it
still doesn't feel like they're they're downyour throat the way they would at Cable
Doama Arena in Kansas City or atthe OUD in Utica, really anywhere else

(45:00):
in the league other than our building. So yeah, it's a different situation.
It's won the Flash of absolutely takenadvantage of so far. I think
they will continue to be tested occasionallynorth of the border, and the soccers
dream is that along the way they'regonna drop a game somewhere. But they

(45:22):
went to Kansas City and won,and that was the game that I think
we all thought, Okay, youknow, there it is. That's gonna
be the one, and it wasn't. You know, Flash took that.
So now seven and zero, they'vegot a plus thirty eight goal differential.
That's easily the best in the league. You know, they've played two more
matches than San Diego. San Diegois at plus nineteen, so they'd have

(45:45):
to win by eleven and win byeight the next two games in order to
match Monterey. And yes, lookI remember twenty two to five, so
you know, seventeen of that plusthirty nine eight is wrapped up in one
match against a clearly outmatched Dallas sidekicksside on that particular day. But it's

(46:09):
really getting to be clear that it'sMonterey in the east and all the other
teams are showing their slip to somedegree. Kansas City looks very, very
strong, but the one game theyplayed against Monterrey they lost. Utica was
looking strong. We'll talk about themas we continue, not as much anymore.

(46:30):
The Wave look vulnerable now. Baltimoreis trying to knock at the door
to try and creep into fourth. But the one team that shows no weakness
whatsoever is the Flash. Try andpoke a hole in them. Like I
was trying to think, like, what's the weakness of this team? And
until you see them and against adifferent kind of competition, I can't tell
you that they have a weakness.Yeah, and again in a series,

(46:52):
who wins if you put San Diegoversus Monterrey right now, and it could
be a potential toss up, andthat it's not a scenario that I really
want to think of, because itmakes me uncomfortable to know that Monterrey right
now is an absolute Juggernaut, andI don't want to find out at this
point. Let the soccers get theirfooting, let their chemistry really develop,

(47:13):
let everybody, all the stars getinvolved. Have some of the players that
haven't had the points the season thatthey have in the past really get it
going and be primed and ready forplayoff time. But again, if it
comes down to it and it's thesetwo teams, I think the league is
going to be really happy about theexpression of football rapido and the highest at

(47:35):
the highest level couldn't agree more. And it was great for the league for
Chihuahua to be a champion. Itwould be kind of weird if it was
back to back Mexican champions, butthere's nothing to be said wrong about it.
And this is literally the plan ofthe Mexican teams. Let's split into
different conferences, let's divide and conquer, and Monterey moving into the East.
I'll just say one last thing, and this might be me being you know,

(47:59):
Captain Petty for just a little bit, but I still see people.
I still see people. I sawhim in the MASL, you know Twitch
chats saying, oh, soccers alwayshave the cake schedule in the league,
like the k oh, just thesoftest schedule. But you took Monterey out
of the West, you put himin the East, and it looks like
no one can beat them at all. Yeah, you know, Monterey didn't

(48:21):
finish first or second in the Westlast year, so it's and yes,
it's a slightly different not slightly,it's a different team, and it feels
like the elite players in Mexico makea difference. Wherever Torres plays, that's
gonna be where the good team is. You know, wherever Burna plays,
that's gonna be where the good teamis. Those guys are in Monterey.

(48:43):
But Berna isn't leading the way forMonterrey this year. Is Christian Hernandez the
kid in that he's been really theleader. Elsar Henho has been in the
back seat quite often. Ernandez hasbeen the guy who has been getting it
done. And again, you know, we're here praising them, but it's
kind of fun to be like, there's a beast in the east. There's

(49:05):
you know, if the West isa slightly easier path for the soccers right
now, cool, but like, holy crap, what's coming in the East?
Could we be the underdogs in aRon Newman Cup Final? I think
we very well could be the underdogsin a Ron Newman Cup final and it's
exciting, man like again just thegrowth of the league in that sense,

(49:28):
because again the soccers have been thatteam that everybody looks at and wants to
take out. But now there's anotherbig battie on the other side of the
border, on the other side ofthe divisions, and it's like, okay,
well it's an F one race allover. You got a Mercedes,
they got a Ferrari. Let's go, let's put the red bull versus anybody,

(49:52):
and let's let these puppies roll.Because again, this is the best
of the best, the cream ofthe crop. As Randy Macho man Savage
would say, Kerry with the alwaysrises to the top. And then he
has a magic trick and he hasa little creamer in his hand. It's
one of the greatest promos of alltime. The segment that makes us the

(50:12):
show of record in the m ASLis when we talk NASL news. All
right, everyone is fit hit thispoint. This is where all the executives
are tuned in, all the otherbroadcasters are tuned in, all the players
are tuned in. Hey, Greg, I heard you said this or that
about such and such. You know, let's see, let's bring it on.
Here we go. Miguel Ponse isnow an Empire striker, So Fabian

(50:35):
he Ponse tanbien. What do youthink about this? What do you think
about Miguel Ponse? Tell me aboutthe Chieva Star? What are we supposed
to see here? So when Ifirst saw this, it was almost the
same reaction as like what's going on? Like what really? But obviously now
Marchcao Fabian is with Empire and havingshared time in Chivas, being a teammate

(50:57):
is a matter of like, this'sjust going to open the flood game of
the Mexican former CHUS players coming over, you know, known as he's born
here in the US. So he'sfrom Sacramento, California, So he has
some footing and some knowledge of theUS a little bit more, i'd say
than than Monico Fabien. But he'spart of the Mexico national team and he's

(51:21):
part of a team that was partof the Olympic gold medalist. It's just
like Michael Fabien that beat neymar andHulk back in the day. Some pretty
important names for that gold medal inthe Olympics. But Polcho is a player
that can be dynamic and brings anedge as a left back over in the

(51:42):
outdoor game. How that translates herein the defensive side is going to be
interesting because while Machico Fabien is moreof an attacker, you're gonna see Bonse
maybe be on the midfield a littlebit more strong and smart going on the
defensive end. But again, ifyou have somebody who's not seasoned, who's
not knowledgeable, who doesn't know theangles the boards as well as say Goo,

(52:06):
that's a fatal mistake that you canhave at any given point. It's
gonna be you know, it's gonnacost points and you're gonna give them up
for the for the other team. But it's a very interesting tactic that Empire
is taking. I can't figure outwhat's going on over there since this season,
since pre preseason, this vision ofwhat Empire Strikers wants to be is

(52:27):
so murky. The controversies, thepress releases, the the stars, I'll
give you know again, you seeMichael Fabien trading jerseys with the with the
Rain, the NH, the NHLSecond Division. I'll say, right,
is there a term for it?It was at an l a Kings game
now that he was at an actualLA Kings like Kings okay, yeah,
and and a Clippers game. SoI'm happy that they're getting this this exposure,

(52:53):
uh, to the top, topflight of sports where yeah, they're
recognized names Bonse not not as much. But it's going to be interesting just
kind of seeing how this develops. And is this a project for the long
run? Is this a project fornext season maybe two seasons from now?
Is it really going to impact thewin column? I don't know. I

(53:15):
don't think so. As fast asthese outer players can adapt to the indoor
game, We're a midseason, soit's a little bit too late to really
give them that benefit of the doubtof all right, let's let's see how
they pan out and maybe they canhelp us in that playoff push. No,
you need these players right now.Well, you know, when the
soccer signed Landon Donovan, they didn'tsign Landon Donovan because they thought that he

(53:36):
would be the missing key to thepower play or to the championship. It
was because of his ability to attracta casual outdoor fan into an indoor game
with a name that everybody knows,uh. Marco Fabian in the spinal Blante
audience is a name that most peopleknow. Is it the level of Landon

(53:57):
Donovan? You know, you've madethat pretty clear, Tony, it's not.
It's not exactly the same level. You know. There's been a lot
of talk about how much is hegetting paid. I don't know, and
we're not striking Fury, so Idon't need to dig all the way into
what the Burhams are doing or what'shappening. I do find some of the

(54:19):
wording of their press releases to bevery very strange, Like they kept talking
about absolute must win going into thisweekend, Like what does that mean when
you're one? Like really playing upthe fact that the Strikers are one in
five in their own press releases, and I'm like, are they trying to
undermine Paul Wright in some way here? Now? This past week the announcement

(54:40):
that Clay Roberts is taking on someform of advisory role with Empire and is
coming into supervised practice for a fewweeks and then there's going to be watching
film in Florida and you know,in his home in Florida and contributing.
What's that supposed to mean? Andit was? It was made to sound

(55:00):
like it was Paul's idea, Butwas it really Paul's idea. I have
no idea, and it doesn't matterto me, honestly. You know,
Vacon Dios is my standing resting statewhen it comes to Empire. What you're
gonna do is what you're gonna do. That's fine. I'm really curious how

(55:21):
tonight's match goes. You know, they're taking on Texas and Texas has had
four days to hang out in California? Did they party in the gas lamp
for a couple of days? Arethey taking this match seriously? They absolutely
should. Texas needs these points.Empire says it's a must win. What
does a must win? I don'tunderstand. I don't know where the strikers
are. They act like they're inthe heart of the playoffs with the way

(55:44):
they write about themselves, but Ikind of feel like they're almost ticketed for
fifth place this year no matter what. Maybe Fabian changes that. But I
am encouraged that they're trying, youknow what I mean, Like they're really
trying. They're trying to create something. I do hope it works, I
truly do. I hope that whenwe go up there on the seventeenth,
that there's you know, eight thousandfans there instead of an announced seven thousand,

(56:07):
and there's actually two thousand there. You know, I really hope that
that is the case and that thisworks because we want the rising Tide to
lift all boats in the MASL.And frankly, Fabian has been good.
You know, he is he adefender. No, if Ponce is going
to play defense, that's like yikes. But he's attacking, he's scoring,

(56:30):
he's finding power play goals, he'sfinding his way to offense. He's found
some assists along the way off thewall even so, yeah, I'm excited
Fabian. He's also been great withthe media, seemed to be very very
giving in terms of his time. You know, did the videos with the
Mexican Mandalorian down in Texas, whichI thought was a lot of fun.

(56:54):
So, you know, it's it'sall good. It's all great to see
it happening. As far as whereEmpire feels they are, I really have
no idea. I'm as confused asyou are, Tony. Yeah, And
I mean, like I said,it's gonna be interesting to see how they
roll out tonight. But I thinkI figured this out. I know which

(57:15):
game they're talking about. It's amust win Thursday, the man, let's
go, oh my god, andjust think how long will kickoff be delayed
on the seventeenth for the banner ceremonyfor the NASL Indoor Cup. I mean,

(57:37):
if you roll out Michael Fabiana onthe futsal court and pull and say,
you know what, take it likeI think we can just we should
just not show up default win. There you go, you guys, you
guys went all in on the firsthand of the of the of the Texas
hole. That's okay, we fold. That's why we fold. We'll play
the smart way. Oh my god, if Fabia, if I see Faby

(58:00):
Odd in anything other than like asuit or a warm up, you know,
like a set of warm ups onThursday, I'm gonna I'm gonna have
a hearty laugh. That's all I'mgonna say. It's gonna be one of
those belly laughs, you know whereyour knees start to hurt a little bit,
Like I'm gonna have a hardy laugh. And that's it for strikers.
Well, you know what someone mentionedin the chat, and I want to

(58:23):
be clear, I haven't listened tothe past couple episodes of Striking Fury.
Nothing against Philly and the Dock andthe Panda. I just my media die
has been super convoluted with a newshow and everything, and I have to
pay more attention to some other stuff, and I've just missed the last couple
episodes. Someone said in the chatthat there was some talk on their show

(58:47):
discussing t VOI and in particular whetherplayers on the soccers like t VOI.
And I just want to remind everyonethat we talked about this a few weeks
ago, Tony. We know factuallyHarada, Hurrado and Tavoy didn't get along.

(59:07):
They had fights at practice a coupleof times. We've talked about it
before. So consider the source.Yeah, consider the source. Where do
you evaluate the information that had somecontext that if you really, you know,
want to play Sherlock Holmes here, and I mean if you want to

(59:28):
take a victory in that way,you want to get a banner up for
you know, smack talking and releasingthe rumors, and you know what,
at this point they need the practiceto put something up in the rafters.
But I mean that I don't.I don't you're a training I don't have
that insight to where maybe there is, but I've never seen anything that can

(59:49):
be remotely true about that in personbefore training. Yeah, it's just I
don't know. Just like we're notcatching fury or with an Empire show,
they're not soccers overtime, So correct, correct, big shout out. Soft.
Philly was on like ESPN plus doinguc riverside games, great stuff,

(01:00:13):
six stuff, love it. He'sreally taking big steps up. Love all
those guys, Philly, Doc Pandaand look, you know we talk smack,
they talk smack. It's all good. It's all good. It's all
good. Yeah. Ta Void leadswarm ups every single game. The boy
is a key part of the SanDiego soccers, okay, and the soccer

(01:00:35):
La Familia de soccers like we don'twe don't let in bad eggs. You
you might have seen that over theyears, we've had a couple of great
players come in and disappear in aquick hurry. There's a reason for that.
There's a philosophy, there's a there'sa discipline that comes to be coming
and having the chance to be asoccer precisely so, like I said,

(01:01:00):
I would imagine Hrado had plenty ofthings to say Morgan, Oh yeah,
oh yeah, just like you know, if you want to ask me some
questions about some radio veterans and theirbehavior over the last couple of weeks,
I might have multiple opinions on thatas well, and you might want to

(01:01:22):
consider the source on that as well, you know, as far as their
source and my source. So uhyeah, I always love I've said it
many times before. I wouldn't mindif the MAASL leaned all the way into
pro wrestling. Let's create every divisionpossible, to create every controversy possible.
Can we have someone bring a foldingchair out and just crack someone over?

(01:01:45):
Oh my god, he's got themfor an element, He's got the impiment,
you know, Like, I'm forall of it because that would absolutely
raise the entertainment factor six percent. So uh, I'm all for that.
More MASL news, More MASL news. Utica City FC is dropping in the

(01:02:07):
rankings. There's no such thing asrankings. People do some stuff MASL Monday
whatever. But uh, I wantto put a little context into this because
I actually watched these matches. Okay, So Utica City goes to Milwaukee on
Thursday, I believe, and theydid not have their goalkeeper Andrew Coughlin.

(01:02:29):
Andrew Coughlin was kept home with atleast what the chat said was COVID.
I did not speak to Andrew Coughlin, so my apologies if he had the
flu or the sniffles or peanut allergiesor whatever it may be, but it
appears he had COVID. And sothey played with their backup goalkeeper Brian Wilkin
in Milwaukee, and Milwaukee got thewin and they played pretty well. Then

(01:02:52):
the Blues UCFC moved along to Tacomaand they played their third string goalkeeper Julian
Rodriguez, because in between Milwaukee andTacoma, Brian Wilkin got deathly sick,

(01:03:13):
apparently not COVID or else he probablywould have been held out of the arena,
but he was ashen faced and sweatingon the bench for Utica as Rodriguez
came in. And then I waswatching this game start to finish on Saturday
night, Tony and in I thinkit was the early second quarter, Juice

(01:03:37):
Cox was coming in on the wingand ripped a shot that just right to
the chin of the keeper. Rodriguezdropped him like a sack of flower,
just boop straight back and he satfor about five minutes, five six,
seven minutes on the turf and hehad to be helped off the turf and

(01:04:00):
in came Brian Wilkin, sick, like sweating, shaking. Yeah, looked
gray, and they put him outon the floor and then he played a
little bit, and I gotta behonest, he looked really really bad,
and like the defense kept bailing himout, like ball kept going past him
and someone clearing it off the line. It looked so rough. And then

(01:04:24):
like a few minutes later, theybrought Rodriguez back in which I could not
believe. That's I don't know, and he got hit again. He got
hit again, and then Wilkin playedthe rest of the match, and God
bless him. He did the bestjob he could. Could you imagine having
a fever of one hundred and twoor one hundred and three and being asked

(01:04:46):
to roll out there and play areaction position like goalkeeper. It's it's insane.
So Utica lost that night, andI'm sure Nick Perrera is gonna get
MASL Offensive Player Week. He wasgreat. I again, a hat trick
with four assists in a ten goalgame. Yeah no, And as a
goalkeeper that's definitely not something you wantto go ahead and do. You're just

(01:05:09):
lethargic, you're slow, you're notthere. You rely on a little bit
too much of your inherent skills, and sometimes you just can't respond. And
I mean to be out and downfor the first knockout ball to the face
for that long a time and thenbe able to come back. You know,
I'm no medical professional, but i'dsing, I think the safe thing

(01:05:30):
to do would be to keep thatindividual out if again, we're considering safety
as the prerogative here, especially ahead injury, which you know sometimes get
called sometimes they don't. There's knocksof the head that you know, are
allowed to just kind of keep ongoing. Let play go for another two
three minutes, and then we'll attendand it's supposed to be stopped. It's

(01:05:50):
one of those things where it's justit's just a gray area, it really
is. So you know, Ipersonally put a little discount on both of
the Utica losses. If they hadgone out with Kauflin and and you know,
given up that many goals and lostthe games that they lost, I
would have absolutely said, okay, you know, dgrade Utica's championship standing.

(01:06:14):
Let's drop them in our mind alittle bit. Let's drop them a tier
when we do our next tier list, well we'll knock Utica down a tier.
And we might still do that.I don't know, but uh,
I will say this. The chatin both Thursday and Saturday night's game was
extremely anti Frank Tayut from the Judicafans because the king hasn't been the king

(01:06:39):
so far in Utica. He hada really big game against Harrisburg, which,
you know, we'll talk about Harrisburg. Harrisburg's Oe eight. You know,
poor Harrisburg. I don't know whatto say, but they're they're just
the They're just they're just not there. You know, they're the team and

(01:06:59):
the East that gets clobbered over andover and they've got some good players.
I know their management is trying hard. I know the Heeyes are doing the
best they can. It's no knockon the organization, but my goodness,
they've been so bad for so manyyears. Like how do you develop a
fan base when you keep winning youknow, four games or two games or
five games. And this year,I don't know if they're gonna win a

(01:07:21):
game, Like I'm sure they willat some point, sure they'll you know,
face the ambush or something. Butso far, you know, minus
forty one in eight games, that'sa five goal loss per game. Yeah,
and that's where Udica is, orthe part of me, that's where

(01:07:43):
Harrisburg is right now. So reallythey're becoming one of those teams that,
like you have to parse it.You're like, oh, well, Udica
started off this, well, oh, Kansas City started off this. Well,
well, how many times do theyplay Harrisburg? You know, if
they beat Harrisburg four times and again, it's nothing to Tabernie. See,
it's nothing to any of the greatplayers that are that are doing their absolute

(01:08:08):
best with the heat, it's nothappening. And it's tough. It's tough,
you know. It's it's tough inDallas. It's tough in Empire Dallas
then or Empire then smash Dallas. So I guess we say it's tougher in
Dallas than it is in Empire. But you know, for the teams that
are at the bottom of the NASLand are just getting clobbered week after week

(01:08:30):
after week, it's a tough scene. Man, it's a tough scene.
Yeah, And it's it's demoralizing ina lot of different ways, and it
doesn't look like there's clearest skies onthe way, But I mean that's kind
of what we said at the beginningof the season. Also, it's just
really this these are going to bethe places where the teams are going to

(01:08:51):
be cemented and right at the getgo, you know, it just was
very clear where a team like sayAmbush has been in Utica. Again,
you go back to last season, they had a great end of the season.
Is that magic kind of wearing offwhere it was still there at the
beginning of this current year. Butit's it's tough to really kind of predict

(01:09:12):
the direction that they're going to goahead and head into. In the standings,
my pick is still looking good.Tony fourth place. Milwaukee has fifteen
points now that they got two winslast weekend over Utica and Harrisburg. Baltimore
came from behind to win in overtime, and they were losing to Saint Louis.

(01:09:35):
We're losing five to one to SaintLouis at home, but they came
back and won, and now theBlast things they're going to make the playoffs.
But there's seven points behind Milwaukee withone game in hand right now,
and I still feel very confident thatthe top four teams in the East will
be the top four teams in theEast, not in that order. I

(01:09:57):
think Monterey will finish one, Kansas, it might be Milwaukee three, and
Utica four. I don't know, but I think those four teams in some
sort will be sorted right there. And I think Baltimore, I think the
final three will finish in exactly thatorder. Baltimore fifth, Saint Louis sixth,
and Harrisburg seventh. Tadah, whocares? That's me. I don't

(01:10:23):
matter. I don't matter at all. Who cares what I have to say?
Uh? You know what's funny?I can say that on this show
and feel so confident, tony andcomfortable. Like if I said that on
ninety seven three right now, I'dhave like three people on Twitter going,
that's exactly right. No one careswhat you have to say, loser,
get out of here, bring backthe coach. The first whiff of soccer

(01:10:45):
talk on the first day on thatThursday, I know those comments. I
was like, at first, Iwas surprised with how much actual support there
was, which was a nice littlereprieve of the I guess to shill downpour
of negativity that was to come. But you know, I'm going to look
forward to hearing soccer uh talk withAnnie and Elston tend to to. I'm

(01:11:10):
looking forward to having Tony Tony Sanchezon as a guest. Think about that.
I'm can we get you out ofthe why in those precious daytime hours?
Can we get you on the radio? I've I've had discussions already about
this with my bosses and said, hey, this is this is the thing
that might be happening. So theysaid, hey, well you better clock

(01:11:31):
out. It's okay. My boss'sboss's boss's boss is a season ticket member
for the San Diego Soccers too,So yeah, there's that. Uh,
this weekend some big matches. Uticaat Kansas City is a huge match and

(01:11:51):
and honestly, Youdica needs to win. You know, I mean, you
want to focus on Frank, Youcan focus on Frank. You know,
Frank has been the potent scorer sincetwenty twenty one that he was previously.
He's still obviously extremely good. He'sthe first player ever to five hundred points,
but he's not powering Utica's offense.Ronaldinho has been powering Utica's offense to

(01:12:16):
a greater extent than Frank has.And listen, Gordy didn't do anything this
past weekend either. It's it's notlike, you know, Gordy was out
there just lighting the world on fireand everyone is lighting the world on fire,
and Frank's the only guy that's notfiring for Utica. So it takes
time, It takes patients. It'snot as Frank centric an offense in Utica.

(01:12:39):
They're not just posting him up asthe nine and feeding them the ball
all the time. So you know, it's gonna take some time and we'll
see, you know, we'll seenew team, new situation. I'm you
know, on a personal level,I got a lot of respect for Frank.
I got a lot of respect forhim for his off the field persona.

(01:12:59):
You know, on the field,he was a soccer's nemesis for years
and years and years. I don'tknow if we've cleared that hurdle or not,
but I still have a lot ofrespect for him as a human being
and as a person, and Iknow the way that things ended in Ontario
for him wasn't the way he wantedand I hope that he succeeds to some
extent in Utica. I hope thatUdica fans aren't blaming Frank Tayu for the

(01:13:23):
team losing when they conceded like twentytwo or twenty three goals over the weekend
Flasher at Texas. Will the Flashdrop a point? I'll say, I
don't know, man, Maybe thiswas the energy that they saved by not

(01:13:45):
playing the soccers. It will beused to play against Monterey Flash. I
believe that in a sense, right, you know, you were primed and
ready to play one of the bestteams in the league, and then you
have a chance to play the otherbest team in the league very very closely.
So you're preparing in maybe similar mannerin terms of fitness, not necessarily

(01:14:08):
in terms of tactics, because thesetwo teams are are different. But I
think it's a reprieve to have thatbreak of not playing the soccers for Texas
and Flash. I mean again, like, I hope they trip on a
stick at some point and just giveup an extra goal here and there,
and oh, look at that theywent ahead and lost a match, like

(01:14:30):
and this can potentially be it.Yeah, I hey, soccers, have
hated playing at the mesquit Arena, and the first time they won there was
that playoff match last year. Theyhad lost three games at Misquid Arena in
three tries prior to that, Soyou know, I'll keep fingers and toes
crossed that maybe Texas on the lumpybumpy field gets a happy bounce and gets

(01:14:56):
the win. They certainly have theability to score. Of course, Texas
plays Empire as we're talking forty minutesfrom now, so I'll be watching that
on Twitch as well with the Docand the Panda and Philly, and we'll
see how that one plays out andif Texas pulls the points out of that
game they're supposed to. But it'sFabian m ponce together for the first time
since Chievas, so we shall see. All right, we'll wrap up with

(01:15:18):
soccer's news. We'll bang through this. Soccers are back home Sunday taking on
Chihuaha Savage five O five pm,and there's a lot of things going on,
starting with before the match from twothirty to three thirty a soccer's pregame
Kids Skills clinic for children five totwelve, girls or boys or they's welcome

(01:15:43):
to come on down and learn fromsoccers, players and coaches for an hour
on the floor two thirty to threethirty at Pachanga Arena. It's a special
ticket that gets you in. Yougo to sdsoccers dot com slash clinic,
and our guru of all things spencerIshii told me earlier this morning. Just
limited spots, but a couple ofspots do remain for the skills clinics,
so feel free to get your kidssigned up sdsoccers dot com slash Clinic.

(01:16:09):
In addition to taking part in theclinic, you get a ticket to the
match and an opportunity to be apart of the pre match parade of champions
so be down on the field whilethe teams are being introduced, during the
playing of the anthem and everything else. So it's a great deal, super
super affordable stsoccers dot com slash ClinicTo get your kids signed up, and

(01:16:29):
please do so soon because hey,I mean you know, the match is
on Sunday, times running out. Also Sunday is Kick Cancer Night when the
Soccers take on the Chiwawa Savage andthere are a couple of different ways that
you can help benefit on Kick CancerNight. First things first, and you

(01:16:50):
know cancer blood Okay, tangential, but San Diego Blood Bank is going to
be hosting a blood drive in thePachank Arena parking lot just outside the north
entrance from twelve to five pm onSunday. We invite everybody to come out
and donate to San Diego Blood Bank. Anyone who does gets a free ticket

(01:17:11):
to the match. So if youwere looking for a ticket, all you
gotta do is drop off a pintwith our buddies at San Diego. I
mean, I don't know they woulddraw a pint off your but they don't
withdraw a whole pint, do theyprobably not? But a few vials of
blood, a few, you know, a couple vials of blood. You
know, they'll give you an orangewedge, the'll give you a juice box.
They'll they'll get you, you know, ramped back up in time for

(01:17:33):
the five oh five kickoffs. Soyou can get a free ticket for donating
the San Diego Blood Bank. Pleasedo so, We appreciate you. Then
during the match, Tony, therewill be a fifty to fifty raffle taking
place where you can buy your ticketsat the merchandise stand and half of the
money in the fifty to fifty Raffle. Of course we'll go to the winner

(01:17:55):
and the other half will go toOncology in Kids, which is a charity
that we have been working with formultiple years, including with the golf tournament
also on Sunday evening, fifty percentof the money from the Frisbee sales will
go to Oncology and Kids. Sonormally on that fifty goes to the Winter,

(01:18:15):
fifty goes to us. Instead, fifty'll go to the Winter, fifty'll
go to Oncology and Kids. Sotwo different ways to support Oncology and Kids.
On Kick Cancer Night, take partin the fifty to fifty Raffle,
buy some Frisbees and toss them down, try and make your money that way.
Both different ways will support Oncology andkids. Last bit belt bag giveaway

(01:18:36):
the Merse the soccer's belt bag. It'll be given away while supplies last to
all fans coming in. So alot of things happening, and then of
course at five oh five, man, it's kickoff time. It is Soccers
and Savage and here we go.I mean it's revenge time. Yeah,

(01:18:58):
no, this is one that everybody'scircling on that calendar, and I mean
I've been circling on the calendar fora couple of different reasons, mostly the
blood bank as well, because it'smy quarterly oil change that I need.
That's unfortunately how I think of Ihave to think about donating blood because I'm
not a fan of needles. It'sjust big it and I'll just generate more
and it's for a great cause.But I mean it's also huge for a

(01:19:21):
couple of different reasons. Right. This is the team that eliminated you,
that in a way really soured theseason in front of your home fans who
were really thinking, this is gonnabe another championship season. This is gonna
be great, It's gonna be fantastic. The league is also already kind of
like, well, you know,if San Diego wins, it's gonna be

(01:19:42):
easy for production. No, Tonyand Craig have to produce a final via
satellite and you know do all thatthat ended up being our English commentary.
But this is a game that iscircled on every single player that was involved
with the soccer's last season. Theywant this one back. It doesn't matter
if the team is different, ifthere's different players. The name is still

(01:20:05):
there. They are still the reigning, defending undisputed champions of the MASL,
and that pedigree is is going toremain until the Zerials hit this season.
So that's what they that's what itis. It's gonna be the revenge.
And hopefully my pal over here candefinitely I say over here is I don't

(01:20:27):
put anything there. He has somethingto do with it. I hope he
has something to do with it.And not just one, please, not
just one, but at least one, Yes, at least one. We've
been sitting on our child's four hundredgraphic for three matches. Now let's let's
get that thing out there. Let'sget this taken care of. Hey,
Chris Toth decided personally to deny CraigChilds's four hundred point last week, like

(01:20:50):
he saved all his best stages specificallyfor three seve like it was just every
single time, oh goal goes in, Wait, Child's is shooting dynamic safe?
So uh, you know, let'ssee. I believe Childs will take
care of that, no problem.Hey, look the Savager two and four,

(01:21:11):
they have six points, and yeahthey're two and zero against the rest
of the league and zero and fouragainst Monterey. So that's how I look
at it, don't I don't lookat it as like they're a bad team.
I look at it as Monterey mightbe the best team in the league
this year, and they plumbed themfour times, and that's scary, Like,
that's really scary from a soccer standpoint. Sunday, we'll get to find

(01:21:32):
out where is the level, Whereis Chiuahua's level right now? When they
come to San Diego in twenty twentyfour, what are they bringing compared to
what they brought last year? BecauseBerna's not there, Torres isn't there,
zuo Ard isn't there. A lotof the key players on that team are
now in Monterey. So are dowe now have the handle on Chiuala?
If you beat them on Sunday,if you club them and you drop them

(01:21:56):
to two and five, now you'regiving Empire a little hope. You're giving
Empire that tiny window, like canwe really get past these guys? You
know, if Fabian and Ponce comein and maybe they hire seven to twelve
more chieves players, Like can weget to a point where Chievus Ontario is
able to take this out and tomove up to fourth place because I'm sure

(01:22:20):
from a soccer standpoint, we'd rathernot face Chihuahua under any circumstance. I
don't think any of that's happening,Tony. I think Chihuahua is gonna be
right there in the mix at theend of the year. And I think
it's gonna be a tough match onSunday too. Yeah, and that's gonna
be a match that they definitely wantto go ahead and play up to the
competition and defend the honor of theteam that did that last season in the

(01:22:43):
house of the San Diego Soccer SoI mean, it's gonna be really exciting
match. And I'm looking forward toalso not seeing Tacoma for a change because
it's a little bit different. Butif it's gonna give Chievas USA Part two
electric boogloo some hope, I don'tknow how I feel about that, But
either way, the soccers need togo ahead and again keep making those statements

(01:23:05):
and keep pressing on and improving asthey really have. Game to game,
they've been getting better and better.Chemistry wise. You're seeing goals and assists
and points from players that you wouldn'tnormally be waiting for. But overall,
I think it's a good place forSan Diego to really showcase exactly what this

(01:23:25):
means and how much it hurt them. And if they were mad after a
victory in Dallas, think about howupset they were about losing in front of
their fans at that moment, inan instant with a golden goal. Now,
it's not the only match this weekend. The Soccers are playing their second
interstate back to back, second offour interstate back to backs. So it

(01:23:47):
starts Saturday night at a Says SocialwarCenter in Kent, Washington against the Tacoma
Stars. And the Stars are zeroand three against the Soccers, and they're
three and zero against the rest ofthe league. And they did take care
of Utica, you know, andit was again it was the number one
line. It's just always the numberone line for Tacoma. It's Peerra kicking
butt, jamaiel Cox getting the jobdone. You know it Usually Canale is

(01:24:12):
in there somewhere. But so far, the Soccers have proven to be the
superior club through three matches. Iwouldn't expect anything necessarily different, other than
the Stars feel a lot better aboutthemselves now Tony than they did before they've
they've put the goals up. They'replaying at home, so it's game four

(01:24:35):
of six. San Diego needs tojust take care of business, straight business
trip, keep the blinders on andpost another you know, nine, ten
eleven goals against Tacoma, like they'vedone each of the first three matches.
Yeah, a lot of time toput take the foot off the pedal up
at this point because all these teamshave the potential to really stick it to
you. And it's any given Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednday, Thursday,

(01:24:56):
Friday, whenever they play. It'sany given day. They can go
ahead and take care of business againstthe Soccers because everybody wants that on their
record. So interesting weekend, potentiallydifficult weekend. We'll see. I've heard
some rumors of some soccers injuries cominginto the weekend. Let's find out what
that lineup looks like on Saturday. We'll learn a lot more on Saturday and

(01:25:19):
of course Thursday, the biggest matchin the history of the United Soccer Coaches
Convention taking place on the futsal turf, on the bubbly turf between the soccers.
Some players wearing soccers uniforms, nosoccer is just you know, not
our regulars and the Empire Strikers. So I don't even know what to think

(01:25:44):
about this. Just survive. Idon't even care about advance. Surviving,
advance to the airport. The nextday. Throw z that Roberto out there,
throw a farmer, bring them upagain. Come on, farms.
Yeah, I told you you werewere digging your ass out of retirement.
One more match, one more match? You want that shadow box? Say

(01:26:09):
what did you think about Thursday?Okay? Yeah, So that's all happening.
It's all taking place, very verybusy. We can, by the
way, leading right into the followingweek when the day after we have our
next show, Tony, the Soccerswill play the Strikers at Ontario's Toyota Arena
on a Wednesday night, the seventeenth. So it's going to be three games

(01:26:32):
in six days for the San DiegoSoccers game, travel game, one rest
day, one recovery day, backto Empire, another game. So San
Diego pulls nine points out of thisto you know, obviously gold, but
it's gonna be hard and first losslast year was up in Empire, and

(01:26:55):
you know, especially after their bannerceremony for hanging the pro indoor cop that
they're gonna be fired up and readyto go. Yeah. I mean again,
this is another stretch of the seasonwhere it's going to be you know,
this is what makes champions and thisis on the road to a championship
caliber team. And that's definitely somethingwhere they're gonna go ahead and have to
cut their teeth and it's not gonnabe easy listening and knowing just kind of

(01:27:18):
what's what's been on the potential fitnesslevel for the soccers. Not necessarily something
too surprising because it was bound tohappen if anything that does happen, But
look, I think the soccers havewhat it takes to take care of business
at this point with the talent theplayers that they have. Just you know,
don't worry about Thursday. You're fine. You're fine, guys. I

(01:27:40):
don't know if anybody's worrying, butyou're fine. What's surprised recruit Team Better
or Team Tony to come up andrepresent the soccers. Look, I guess
if you have my celebrity jersey available, I think I could don it for
the day And was talking with Borisbefore about you know how I'm gonna go

(01:28:03):
and present, and I'm gonna goahead and just show him up. And
you know, he had a goodlaugh. But he made sure to tell
me, Hey, you gotta wearthe Mexico gloves that I gave you.
I was like, yes, butI have him in a special place,
so we'll see what we have aboutthis. We might have to break them
up, break them out a littleearlier. All right. That does it

(01:28:24):
for the show tonight. Thanks toeverybody. We sure love and appreciate all
y'all's attention this franchise. We wantto give it right back to you each
and every week. I can't waitfor Tony and I to be back on
the air together Sunday evening at fiveo'clock with the kickoff of The Soccers and
