(00:33):
Well hello once again everybody, andwelcome back to Soccers Over Time, your
weekly look inside the San Diego Sockersand the Major Arena Soccer League. Tony
Sanchez is here. I'm Craig Elston. I'm here. It's season six,
it's episode eighteen. Time to circlethe wagons as the Soccers drop another one

(00:55):
to Chebuahva, dropping the standings ofsome in our hearts though, time to
circle the wagons around our boys,Tony. It is that time of the
season. It's crunch time. Thereis no time for air, no room
for error. But we'll have acouple of areas of growth, I think
for the San Diego Soccers, sohopefully achieve for the rest of the regular

(01:19):
season. We got a good onefor you tonight. To be sure.
On the show tonight, we've gotnot one, but two match recaps.
I suspect will enjoy one slightly morethan the other. We're gonna do them
both. Got the Strikers, wegot the Savage from a weekend that was
what's it gonna take to beat Chiwawa? We're gonna ask our special guests.

(01:41):
Felipe Gonzale is always one of themost thoughtful guests we can get from the
team Monterey. They are a specialside. There's no question they're twenty and
oh but they also living well andas Baltimore just blasted their feet off,
shooting away their playoff hopes. We'llexamine the case in MASL News. In

(02:02):
Soccer's News, we've got all thedetails of FanFest for Sunday and even more
looking ahead toward the end of theregular season. That's the menu. It's
Soccer's Overtime on a Tuesday night. We're your destination of the show of record
in the NASL, and we're sothankful we have all of you there,
especially our live viewers on Twitch.Thank you for finding us, Twitch dot

(02:24):
tv, slash San Diego Soccers. If you're here, go ahead, give
the channel that follow. If youhaven't done it yet, give it the
like, do all that such stuff. It helps the algorithm. If you're
watching us on YouTube, I've beendoing a better job, Tony, been
trying to do a little better job. Get that up as fast as possible.

(02:44):
Thank you for watching us on YouTube, like, follow, subscribe,
all of those things. Do thosethings. If you're listening on audio,
listening to the podcast, thank you. Podcast is cool to do all good
five star review. That would besweet of you, however you're doing it
whenever wherever, We thank you forbeing here. Well, Tony, how

(03:09):
was things on your show last night? Two balls in the mind, it's
it's it's good. I'm glad thatsoccer's back. The soccers have been that
constant for me personally, and Ithink I expressed it early on in one
of the early episodes this season, where I'm really happy that I have some
team in Sandy that I can activelyroot for, like not necessarily have to

(03:30):
be, you know, following therules of being in a press box and
being impartial at times. But theSandy with Soccers were that different team.
But now I get the other sideof this devotedness that I have for the
soccers once again, because it's notjust win win win. There are some
hardships going through. It's the quotesanito. I know a lot of people are

(03:50):
already commenting their thoughts and are eagerjust to hear this session of just you
know, I guess not by SundlinAnd you know, we highlighted something we'll
get to in our gaffes of theweek, and let me just tell you
that's one of the things that Istill cannot believe that went down in that
Shiwalla savage game. But with indue time, in due time, all

(04:13):
in due time, we got toget there. We got Felipe Gonzalez set
to join us in about twenty minutes, so let's go ahead. It might
be thirty minutes the way it goes. We got two match recaps. Let's
roll highlights for game number one,Friday Night, Star Wars Night against the
Empires Strikers. And you could seebehind Tony the cool Yoda kids for the
players, and right away a littlefortune for San Diego as it gets tucked

(04:40):
into the net by Empire for anown goal. Trying to center it for
Tavoye goes off Quentin Swift and it'sone nothing San Diego. Just like that,
a nice easy start to the matchfor the San Diego soccers and honestly
something that's refreshing, right, somegood offense here early on, not even
admitted into the game, and toavoid already getting himself on the score sheet

(05:01):
and involved with the on Goos. You're saying, but that's just a kind
of a foreshadowing for the first coupleof minutes here of this first quarter.
Yeah, it seemed really good. And then on the power play, what
uh uh oh row oh, soccer'sfirst off had to give up possession in
order for the pole to even getto Herado Rado, and then as he
just kind of rolls it toward thenet, it goes off Craig Childs and

(05:25):
in bors Parnell with the look ofbefuddlement. Why did that happen? It's
in my net. It's one one. I thought we were on the power
play. I thought it was arturn. Well, it was the soccer's
turn, and it would come righton out for a beautiful second. Look
right there, that's awareness on theman advantage. It's Felipe finding Craig Giles

(05:47):
for two to one. Really sharplook on the power play here, and
this is where we know this teamis capable of these amazing plays that sometimes
look a little bit more simple thanthey are. This pass on a road
to Craig and just but in theend of that just making that beautiful contact
and putting it out of reach. It's an amazing goal. Child's right there,

(06:13):
his four hundred and seventy sixth goalof his career. Here comes one
Salazar. Salazar showing well, atleast in moments in both of these matches
this weekend. And then Brandon isjust doing Brandon Noscoto things. Oh you
think you're gonna slide tackle the ball, Bryce Watson, please feel free to
slide tackle my ghost as I gopast you. And Philippe is just waiting

(06:35):
to clean it up at the end. Yeah, no, he's send them
packing here, adijos and I'm adiosGlavas breaking ankles there. That's just quintessential
Brandon Escoto. That's that street boughthis finest as well. Very fun to
see Iscoto having a great season,There's no question about it. He's having

(06:57):
one of his better offensive seasons. With San Diego Soccer's trying to find it
on the power play. Pretty gooddefense by Erosco and friends in that particular
exchange, Soccers scored their first powerplay and then and then this happened.
Hradohrado right there, the swing tothe back of the head, the intentionality

(07:21):
of the elbow. It's a twoman advantage somehow, that was just a
blue card to voice header gets blockedaway by a Rosco off the post for
Charlie, who had a very snakebit weekend overall, and then right out
of the box, harradohrado and lookat this, this could be the karma

(07:41):
turning moment of the entire match, and he rims left post, left post
and out. Very thankful for SanDiego. Unthankful the own goal here and
once again Charlie just trying to getback and defend both deflexof certainly unlucky and
nonetheless for Fabian it's his goal scoringstreak extender. Yeah, number fifteen there,

(08:07):
consecutive games with a goal, andyou know that's just the happenstance that's
there. Fortunate for him. ButFabian, you know, to his credit,
has been adapting very well to thisgame and it's good to see play
like that as well. But unfortunatefor Charlie. Body language tells it all.
Both goalkeepers playing pretty well on thisnight. I thought Pardo had one

(08:28):
of his better games of the yearagainst Empire. Overall solid. A lot
of the things that happened against himwere purely mistakes. This is no mistake.
And it's good to see Christian Gutierrezscoring before the fourth quarter, scoring
in the run of play, notjust scoring against a six attacker formation.
The soccers need all hands on deckif they're going to get to a championship

(08:50):
goal, Tony, and one ofthose is Gudierra's scoring goals only his fourth
of the year. Yeah, no, he really needs to kind of get
into that groove. And then herewe see somebody who is in his groove,
in his bag, as they say, Boris Pardo just doing double save,
doing the no, no, noin here. But again, it's
gonna be a defensive effort offensive andthose players coming off the bench are crucial

(09:13):
down the line here undoubtedly. Nowin the final minute of the second quarter,
a little bit of trouble for thesoccers, a little bit of a
spillage, a blind attempt at clearance. It's finds it finds Fabyan's right foot,
which means it finds the back ofthe net. This is something we
are getting accustomed to. Fabyon Net'sa brace. But this is the third

(09:37):
mistake goal out of three conceded inthe first half by San Diego, which
at this point you felt like they'replaying good. But then you look up
and you go, wait a second, We're facing a three and fifteen team
and it's four to three at thehalf. This is too close for comfort.
So thankfully the second half comes alongand the soccers immediately score as Javoi
Morgan find says our Sarah running downroute one and it's to three and a

(10:01):
good third quarter here, Tony tokind of as swash the concerns for all
involved. Absolutely, And the thingabout it is that we've seen these mistakes
sometimes to get cleaned up throughout thematches, but they're happening. And if
it happens against somebody like Strikers, what's set to say that's not gonna happen
against those important rivals that we havebeen seeing like Chiwawa, like Tacoma at

(10:22):
the end of the season. Ifwe see him later and on in playoffs,
those things need to go ahead andchange. So I'm glad that at
least on the offensive side, thingslooked up here. And look, it's
a team effort. That's a greatdefensive play by the offense. Absolutely,
it's guys teaming up that you loveto see. And the boy hit one

(10:45):
point, just getting bullish right therethe ball on his birthday, just bowling
over people, crashing, guy outof the way, get out of here,
guy, and nice easy layoff forfor six three now you don't like
to see this a simple turn ofpee wee by Adam James pee Wee not

(11:09):
having his best weekend defensively, that'sfor sure, as we'll see in the
next video as well. But six' four again some thoughts. But then
how about this Brandon Descoto. There'sFelipe to be in the right place at
the right time. Don't ball watchgo to where the ball is always important.
Felipe knows what to do. He'sgot the hat trick for seven to

(11:31):
four and that assists right there. That Walla score is just something of beauty
that's called a palomita in Spanish. When you go and do that diving head
of the flying Dutchman that you knowwe've seen other players, the strikers do.
It's just that awareness to create thatchaos and if it goes in,
it goes in. If it doesn't, you have somebody who's crashing in.
And what a good hat trick goal, aesthetically pleasing all around Felipe from Tavoy.

(11:54):
This is the hat trick goal tovoid gets a fourth assist in the
match. A career high eight tofour winds up being our final score in
this one. But you can certainlysee how Felipe gets the invite onto the
show. A great performance on Fridaynight, assists on goal number two and

(12:16):
then scores a hat trick from there, his first hat trick as the San
Diego soccer. I'll need to askhim if he had one in Las Vegas
or he didn't, but certainly hisfirst in San Diego. I made sure
to go research that. The restof it defense for the soccers, a
scoreless fourth quarter, which is niceto see because we hadn't been seeing that

(12:37):
for a while. A little crampfor Bopa there as the fourth continues.
There's Servando Berna, who was prettynondescript, wearing red, put on green
and had a whole different attitude. On Sunday there once again Boris's fun.

(13:01):
See to your pants defense right, anything that you can do to keep it
out the left hand warding our frontwave goal of the game, Yeah shot
as Felipe eight four. Soccer's beatthe Empire Strikers. San Diego picks up
the dub gets to forty three points, fifteenth win of the year. A

(13:24):
couple of things coming out of thisone. I even mentioned this on the
radio show on Monday. We doour weekly What's Good segment, and this
was what's good for me was thesupporter culture on Tuesday night. It was
incredible and my only wish was thatit was on Sunday, to tell you
the truth, because I mean, everyone came out of Star Wars Night and

(13:46):
I love Star Wars Night. Itkind of made me feel like maybe we
should schedule Star Wars Night for whenSCHUWAA was in town, like just as
a future thought for future years, but it was. It was a coming
together of at least some l ofalmost every support rule in San Diego.
There you see the locals from TeraUltras, the Eighteenth Battalion, the Riptides

(14:09):
all becoming bruhoes for a night. The best supporter culture we have seen here
for a match, a regular seasonmatch yet. I mean, I think
of the first time that Chavos camein full. That was great playoff game,
very very good. But this waseveryone coming together. It was the

(14:31):
noise. It was the sound thatI've dreamed of hearing inside the arena since
twenty fifteen when the American Outlaws camefor a WF World Cup match, and
I thought, this is perfect. This changes everything for indoor soccer turn off
the eighties music, let the soundsand the songs of the supporters come out,
and it really was great. Andadmittedly, as Kay Ribbert says,

(14:52):
it was a Friday as well, and it's harder on a Friday than or
it's easier on a Friday to geteveryone together than it is on a Sunday
to get everyone together. There's noquestion about it. I'm not criticizing at
all. It was great. Greatto see what we saw on Friday,
Tony. Yeah, I mean alot of a lot of old friends,
some new faces and ultimately everybody cametogether to cheer on the San Diego Soccers

(15:16):
and jeer the Empire as well. You know, it's it's part of it.
It's part of the culture. Andeverybody keeps a respectful shout out to
Poppy Chowel Adrian you know, holdruns a tight sh ship over there.
And you know, I even wentafter to put their postgame celebrations at the
parking lot because you know, ifthat is something that inclines you to go,

(15:37):
you know you might want to considerthat as well. And just you
know, said thank you to everybody, every single group just for coming out.
They really changed the dynamic of thatsection and that's exactly what it's supposed
to do. And I invite everybodyonce again to do it again. I
challenge everybody do it again. Whywouldn't you want to go ahead and have

(15:58):
somewhere that you can support a Sandyteam as genuine as it is, as
organic as it is. Go aheadand get your wheels, the wind under
your wings, because like it ornot, all of these supporters are gonna
have to fill a larger section thatin front Rave and Snapdragon come the next
year. But it's actually absolutely amazingto have so many supporters out there.

(16:22):
The noise that they came out,the smiles, the boom boom sticks also
helps just everybody kind of getting intoit as well, and that can happen
every single match. And again weunderstand what the dynamics are of scheduling and
whatnot, but I mean I welcomeeverybody with open arms once again and challenge
everybody, go go for it,do it again. Just you know,

(16:42):
a quick note. We can talkabout this more later on. And even
with Felipe, you know, Soccer'swent one for four in the power play,
so once again, not what you'relooking for from the club. In
that aspect, dropped them at thatpoint to under twenty seven percent for the
year and dead last the league inpower play. So that was one thing.

(17:03):
Especially scoring on the first one andthen not scoring on the two man
advantage, not scoring on the Heradopenalty, those were things that were disappointing.
And speaking of disappointing, you cango to MASL Soccer dot com today
and look at the discipline slash suspensionstab and see under red card, additional
game and other suspensions issued the wordnone. Then you can go to fines

(17:29):
and you can certainly see fines forPhelipi Gonzales and to Void Morgan and Phil
Silvaggio for their yellow cards. Andyou'll find absolutely nothing, nothing for Horado
Horado, and you will find nothinglittle harbinger of a video to come for
Gustavo Rosaliz. And I really respectthe hard job that the officials have to

(17:56):
do. I'm gonna be a littlebit defending of them having a terrible game
on Sunday, and they did, they had a terrible game on Sunday.
But for this league office which suspendedto Void Morgan last year three games for
getting tackled from behind by an officialand off field official in Texas, and

(18:18):
they alleged that he swung his handwhen the camera angle was extremely non determinative.
They suspended him for three games.Brandon Escoto has gotten suspended in this
league over and over and over again. To void Morgan has gotten suspended in

(18:41):
this league. Oris Pardo got threegames for words. For words, for
words, not elbows to the backof the head, swung with intention words.
And here's Rado Hurrado, as plainas day on tape. First in

(19:07):
elbow hide, then a pull down, then a swing that's that is a
swing of the elbow, and hegets nothing. He gets nothing, He
gets absolutely nothing. A two minuteblue card, that's what he got for
what he did, just like whatCastavo Versalez wound up getting was a two
minute blue card for what he did. Uh. That's I know you guys

(19:33):
are watching. That's pathetic. It'swrong. And if if y'all want to
illustrate ever along the way that you'reactually not biased against the San Diego Soccers
organization, it'd be really cool tounderstand how it is that somebody swings on

(20:00):
another player from behind. And bythe way, somebody who has a recent
and should be well documented history ofdoing things to Tavoi to Tavoi and nothing
comes. I thought it was supposedto be messages sent. I thought were
trying to create balance in the league. I thought, we're trying to avoid

(20:22):
these types of things. Every timeHarado's out there, he's trying to do
something to to avoid Morgan. AndI get it that at the time they
probably weren't ready to issue. Theyshould have issued a red right then,
when they looked at the play, they should have. We said it on
the broadcast. I stand by it. I've looked at it over and over.
What are they trying to say thathe didn't connect? What are they

(20:45):
trying to say, like, let'ssay that he didn't connect. Does that
matter? No, absolutely not. It's still the intent of it, and
that's enough for a red card onits own. Let let alone. You
know, retroactive action, and that'san aggression. In the columns in the

(21:06):
game sheets in Mexico, there's asection at least in Bahacai Fortnite where it
says aggressions, and that's when somethinggets taken above perhaps a red card.
Above it's just anti football, antisoccer, it's anti sport. What happened
there. If that's a sports you'regoing to get into, Hualo, I
welcome you to to choose a differentnight at Pachanga and you can lace them

(21:30):
up over there. But that's anabsolute intentional I don't even know, say
it's premeditative. What was the reasonto throw an elbow there? What was
the reason in a strategic, possiblesoccer way to do that that? Honestly,
it just reminded me of that conversationthat was had here about potentially this

(21:52):
these two players history, and thathas to be known. People listen to
this. If they listen to this, then they know when you know,
when they don't agree with us.But they also have to take into this
consideration when fact is fact, andwhat we saw here is absolutely disgusting.
I cannot condone that sort of behavioron any sport, in any sport at

(22:17):
all. It's it's deeply disappointing. There are layers right In lacrosse that's called
just a five minute penalty. Inhockey, it's called a love tap,
you know, like in soccer,it's a red card, and there's no
padding, there's no defense for theplayer to the aggression. And Tavoy is

(22:40):
a player who absorbs aggression, anddoes that mean that when you attack him
it's okay, but when he doessomething it's not okay. This is this
will literally come true in our nextvideo as Ta Voi is penalized for something
he didn't do, and then theplayer who did something only got a matching

(23:00):
penalty. So let's roll it over, rip the band aid, and get
to the soccers in savage and nowI just want to say that the beginning
of this match was as well aswe've seen San Diego play I think this
season. Chiuaba played the entire sixtyminutes with a great intensity, with a
great seriousness of purpose, and thesoccers matched that throughout the first well twenty

(23:23):
seven minutes and thirty two seconds. Here's Brandon Isscoto again not watching the ball.
He is going to where the ballis, he is reacting. Moscoto
gets a goal simply because of that. Flavio Guzman gets the assist off a
deflection. It's one of the waysyou have to beat a great goalkeeper,
Tony is five moments where they haveto move and where they're out of position.

(23:45):
Yeah, this was very well constructedhere by the soccers just picking at
the close windows that you have Flaviogetting a lucky deflection there. But again
Brann Dscotto being able to follow thatplay something that we've seen and asked of
him. Don't be flat footed inthose situations. You need to be attacking,
attacking, attacking. Does that meanyou're gonna get the goal or go
ahead and layoff an assist as well, Either way you have to be there.

(24:07):
And what he did there was fantasticplay and they were really on top
of the savage and the savage wasmethodical as well. They were at their
own pace, always measured in acertain way and waiting for these opportunities like
absolutely as the soccers grinding at oneone, the defense coming through and Boris

(24:27):
Pardo coming through, that was agreat opportunity on goal and he comes up
with it right there. Really smartmove by Puentense being anticipatory to where the
ball was going to go, thetype of movement that often results in a
goal and did not in this circumstance. Again, one nothing there, Charlie

(24:48):
blocking a ball off the line, getting some big time love from Boris Parto
and the soccers holding a one nothinglead. Almost a great glass so for
Craig Chiles right there. Little smilefrom Reino so he knew what was going
on. Wan Salazar. Time forthe Salazar show, bursting along the half

(25:08):
wall, fighting his way in.And what a goal, Tony, What
a goal. That was absolutely catharticwhen it happened, just creating something out
of nothing, Salazar utilizing his speed, his strength and every aspect that he
has to his disposal winning a ballhere it's literally all Salazar, and he's
a lefty, and to be ableto put it exactly where Rein also wouldn't

(25:30):
even be able to react is ajust altogether amazing, fantastic goal. All
kudos to the Columbiano there doing wondersthere. I'm really liking that he's enjoying
his play here at this point tonothing San Diego. Now blue card here
against the Soccers, and you knowwhen you get out of position things can
happen. Obviously, though this isthe point you're really at this point in

(25:53):
the match, the Savager trailing, and the Savage are going to do everything
they can to get better in it. This was a very artistically drawn blue
card, but the Soccers get outof it and then here we are the
moment that changes everything. This changesthe entire match, and the man who

(26:15):
does it and changes it is GustavoRosalis. Gustavo Rosalis, who has a
very distinct reputation that he has earnedover the years for red card worthy plays
for the dark arts, bites andpinches to Voi in the crease here you'll

(26:38):
see it much well. Actually, the bite and pinch had already taken place.
Then you see the tackle followed bythis grabbing his leg, holding his
leg to Voy. Morgan gets ablue card for that. The Voy Morgan
gets a blue card for that. And then these two guys get together,
they're asked to challenge. The bluecards come out, one for each player.

(27:03):
We both said, this is ridiculous. Here it is pinch on one
side, bite on the other. You could see Tavoy instantly reach up to
the moment where he was bitten, bitten, bitten. Luis Suarez got nothing
on you. It's ridiculous. MikeTyson, just insane. These two guys

(27:29):
go over to review and I justdon't get it. I just don't get
it. To be perfectly honest, this is one of the worst calls I've
seen in my time in the league. It's honestly amazing. And the thing
that really bothered me, as youknow, Tony, is when the challenge
happened. The two officials got togetherand talked to each other before they went

(27:53):
to see the film, and Ireally felt like they predetermined what they decided
to call. But here's the thing. This is a four v four situation
and the soccers never see the ball. They never see the ball. They
play a man down four v fourpee wee slow to get over right there,

(28:15):
quite unfortunate rough game for pee Weeand kay Ki riviiro scores. It's
two to one and the remainder ofthis match, every time a whistle sounds,
the soccers go after the officials.Every time the whistle sounds, hands
are being thrown up in the air. Argument you know why? Oh ah.

(28:38):
And it's pretty hard when you're afocus. Isn't one hundred percent on
a championship team in your house tobeat a championship team in your house,
Tony? Yeah, and Chiwaubo reallytook all the meat off the bone in
this one. They studied and theyyou know, knew what they were coming
into do. Executor to game planwhere I think it could have been a

(29:00):
little bit different in terms of thatdiscipline aspect as well. I understand,
what do you do when you're inthe heat of the moment. It's very
difficult for us who is not insideof those walls to really be able to
say otherwise. But there has tobe some sort of understanding overall that let's
go ahead and shut them up withour play. And the soccers have been
doing incredibly well up until the Tavoyincident, but I think once again that

(29:25):
kind of discombobulated everything. But yougot to snap out of that. You
got to get forward and make surethat you're playing at your one hundred at
all times, because again you werebarely edging out you wuah wah, at
your peak, you were super focused. But that moment just definitely made that
shift enough. And as we know, you know, as a highlight show,

(29:45):
that's the rest of the game here. Well, what isn't shown in
the highlight because how do you reallyshow it is that the soccers concede this
power play opportunity by having too manymen on the field, which is the
kind of thing that I for aveteran team, is literally unexcusable. There's
no excuse for it. If ithappened like somebody fell or tripped or something,

(30:07):
you'd get it. But power playconceded. Power play turns into a
goal, Eric Tilvar that's a Golossoit's a beautiful, beautiful shot. There's
nothing to be done about it.And then taking advantage of a situation there,
Craig Child's kind of caught on thefield against Escalante. Escalante turns,
the captain gets his left foot free, fires one in on Pardo for four

(30:33):
to two. Tough situation, Fourstraight goals for the Chiuaba Savage as again
you know, always there's hands up, people are looking at each other,
but the soccers did not give up. Tony. And this is the part
of the video I'm gonna just beproudest of. Is this club really fought
although wow, not maybe this particularpass. Not proud of that. That

(30:55):
was very lucky, very very veryvery very very lucky not to be five
to you. Basically should have beenfive to two right there. Team's focus
was fractured, but they did staywith this on and ensuing power play.
Charlie Gonzales four to three. Charliereally needed that goal, kind of had
that look to him the whole weekendof just not being not feeling it,

(31:22):
you know, and a huge goalfor San Diego for three soccers with the
advantage to voice, still playing playingunselfish. Now again, a thing you
miss here is that to Voy spentover seven minutes in the penalty box to
start the fourth quarter because he gota yellow card at the end of the
third quarter. Now Charlie again tryingto get that shot away. Soccer's pressing

(31:45):
for the advantage, pressing for thetie, and they get a gift.
Gustavo Rosales gives it away Brandon Noscotocrossbar and down, but Flavio Guzman is
there to clean it up, getsthat left boot through. It ties the
match four to four. Great feelingat Pachanga Arena, San Diego, three
forty to play and the soccers withthe four to four tye tony and this

(32:09):
is where you feel again the soccershave that fire in them and they're gonna
go ahead and fight to the bitterend. And this is a different season
altogether, how it's already been shapingto be. But I really appreciate that
you have the stars, you havethe players coming off the bench, you
have you know, in the beginningearlier, Juan Satas are putting his you
know, body on the line againstthose walls, just doing everything they can.

(32:32):
And this is the point where I'mjust like, this is a great
game, but it's gonna take whoever'smost focused and lasered in into this match
and dialed in that's gonna eventually goahead and win this. And you know,
it's easy to get mad at thingsthat happened. This, to me
is just a physical series of mistakesby good players. For the San Diego

(32:58):
Soccers, knows on the ball, but the clearance is weak. He gives
it to the other team. PeeWay's flat footed. Pee Wee gets beat.
Parto gets beat. Parto gets beat. You know, I mean,
that's it. He's beaten on theplay. Pee Wee got beaten on the
play. The result is a goal. The Soccers concede twenty one seconds after
scoring after all that hard work. And of course, as we see six

(33:22):
attacker couldn't even really get the ballover midfield at the end, just misses
the empty netter on deflection and itwinds up actually with surprisingly this shot from
long away. Okay, I thinkit would have been late, Yeah,
if it wasn't, but it wasclose. It was very close, five

(33:44):
to four the final, Chihuahua wins. Chihuaha beats San Diego for the second
time. Here, Chihuahua wins threeout of three on the season. The
Soccers take their third home loss ofthe season, matching the most in modern
franchise history, shocking in that sense, and seven and three at home right
now, which matches twenty fifteen tosixteen. Seven and three record the worst

(34:07):
record the Soccers have put at home. Seven and three sounds like an okay
record at least, but for theSoccers there's a different level. I mean,
this is a team that's lost tenhome matches in ten seasons, ten
home matches in ten seasons in theMASL, So to see three in one
year, two against the same team, I mean, frankly, I think

(34:28):
a lot of us are processing it, Tony, I think a lot of
the fans are processing seeing a teamthat hasn't lost four games since twenty nineteen
twenty to see them with four lossesright now, And it's a tough readjustment
process, especially again knowing what it'sbeen a reference earlier, just too Wawa
taking everything out of the bone.It seems like, you know, the

(34:49):
Soccers have been, you know, having a banquet of delights this entire time,
and you know, there's just theoverabundance of riches and we've been used
to that and we've been pampered inthat sort of way as supporters here of
the Soccers. But now when thingsare getting tough, it's gonna really test
the metal of this team and theseplayers individually and not just individually. They
have to come together as a team, and I think that's something that we

(35:13):
saw glimpses of throughout the season. So it's possible with some of the injuries
and players going to be are gonnastart coming back, we'll see how that
changes chemistry wise. But at theend of the day, I think the
caliber still there in these players. We both know that this Soccers team can
take it to anybody in this leaguethis season. But it's a matter of
let's go ahead and get there, and let's prepare with these upcoming games in

(35:37):
order to be ready for that playoffpush. And you know, again,
the last thing I'll say, andwe've got our player Phelipe and zeal is
coming on, so I'm going tosay it so he doesn't have to,
okay, but Parato Corado should havebeen suspended and fined, and Gustavo Rossalez
deserved a fine and quite possibly asuspension. He bit a guy, He

(35:57):
bit a guy, and the leaguejust is looking the other way on this.
They didn't that. The official toldPhil Silvagrio on the field, if
I see a bite, it's ared card, and then they say they
see nothing, and everyone knows whathappened. And I once again feel that

(36:20):
if this were any other team andit was the Sockers on the other side,
that the player would be facing perhapsa season ending suspension, because they'd
need to make a statement. Theyneed to make a statement, but only
statements are made against the Sockers forsome weird reason. That's where statements are

(36:42):
made is the soccers players are putto a statement when other players come in
and swing an elbow at the backof the league's leading scorers head and bite
him and pinch and twist his chestand tackle him and wrap their arms around

(37:04):
his leg many seconds after the whistleis blown and refuse to let go.
All of that happened to Devoid Morganthis weekend, and nobody coped Nuda nobody
coped nada for what happened along theway, and we can moan and complain
and bitch and they will say,oh, well heard, hurdy hurdy birdie,

(37:27):
hurdy birdie, and I'm sorry.Actions speak a lot louder than anything
else. It's tough, and Iwant to be very tough on this soccer
side for letting them mentality get awayfrom them in key moments and competitive matches.
But it is tough to live underthe double standard that is happening right
now in terms of to void Morganand the way things that happen to him

(37:52):
are not being officiated. And theleague seems to sometimes and in the past,
go out of their way to tryand find some thing to find and
suspend to voyd Morgan for only tovoid Morgan gets fined out of this weekend
when he was elbowed in the backof the head, bitten, twisted and

(38:13):
tackled and had his leg held.I think we should send h whoever won
to void Morgan's jersey that night onthe auction to get DNA sampled and just
check to make sure that that's gonnabe there. I think that's gonna be
the only way we can get thisleague to look at this objectively. And
it's unfortunate just because again this thisjust taints the integrity of the league altogether.

(38:37):
And it's only hurts right. You'resupposed to protect the players, yes,
like that's what it needs to be, and unfortunately it's not that way.
If you wear San Diego Soccer's crestand until proven otherwise, that's unfortunately
the way things are. And againprove us wrong. Hey, we're the

(38:58):
guys who can say this stuff onthe show Show of Record. We don't
need the players to say this stuffbecause the legal will find and suspend them.
The league will fine and suspend thembecause it's a soccer saying something.
Never mind if you take an elbowto the head or you take a bite
to the neck. Let's welcome inour special guest. Otherwise I'll just keep

(39:21):
going. I mean, look, sometimes I gotta stand up for my boys.
I'm sorry, here's Felipe Gonzales, one of the gentlemen of the league.
Welcome Felipe, Hey, Craig, hey Tony. Once again, thank
you guys for having me. Man, it's always a pleasure, and just
you know, just to make youreal quick, I don't want to say

(39:44):
much obviously, but I completely agreewith everything you said, and I'm gona
leave it at that fair enough.Yeah, just Marshawn Lynchett, buddy,
I'm just here not to get fined. I'm just here not to get fined.
So reflections on the weekend that wasobviously it's not what you guys wanted.
You knew you were gonn to bethe empire you wanted to beat Chua
was so bad. Yeah, youknow, I knew what we knew.

(40:06):
Sorry, you know, going intothat game against Ontario, you know,
they're their young team. I stillfeel like we have the upper hand and
then regardless you we can keep theycan keep the close game by one or
two. But at the end ofthe at the end of the day,
I be quite honestly, I stillfeel like we're going to pull away with
a win against them. You know. In the game against Chiuahua, we

(40:28):
we it was it was bigger thanit was, bigger than us. It
was more of that pride and respectthat we have for ourselves and and and
and that actually we have on ourjersey and saying you know what, we
can we can't go the season losingthree games against them. There's no way
we can't pull one way, especiallyat home, you know, but unfortunately

(40:52):
the body and bounce, you know, the way we wanted to and then
when we got that loss. SoI feel like we played better against Chiuahua
than the last time we played atmy home. Oh absolutely, do I
know and feel that we slowed downin the third quarter and that's what we
got punished again. Absolutely. Youknow, I'm nothing taking away from Chiuaha.

(41:19):
They're a very good team. They'rea very strong team. But not
for them to go ahead and takethose three three games from us, absolutely
not. Yeah, I mean, and we're kind of on the topic obviously,
Chihuahua being the protagonist of some ofthose losses, the three losses here
at home. What's that conversation likeor what's that headspace just knowing that that
is the case, that is afact when you look at the statute that

(41:43):
stands out here this season, whatwhat's that process? Just making sure that
moving forward we continue to get betterhere. As you know, at the
end of the day, we feeland know that I think we're gonna end
up playing Chiuaua in this in theconference final, and so we know,
we got to face them again, and it all comes down to us buckling

(42:06):
down and and and knowing what's what'sahead of us. And and to be
quite honest with you, holding thatgrudge for me, I'm I'm going to
hold that grudge until I'm able tobeat them again. And if you're if
you're, if we're going into thisconference conference championship game against them without holding
a grudge or or anything like that, I feel like you're playing the wrong

(42:27):
sport man, or you shouldn't beplaying at all, because you got to
take pride in what you do.You know, and losing three times to
a team in a season, twiceat home, says a lot, you
know. And then you guys mentionedit. You know, we've lost ten
times at home in the last tenseasons, I think you said, Craig,
and the fact that we lost threeat home this year, it says
a lot, you know. Sowe're we're we're definitely looking forward into playoffs,

(42:52):
but we do absolutely have them inmind, and and we got to
be able to pull a winner againstthese guys if you want to make sure
that we make the run them acup championship, you know. Felipe there's
a couple of things that have justbecome like trends within the organization, and
I think all of us share thesame attitude, right, you just want

(43:15):
to dig into this and say whatdoes it take. What's it going to
take for this team to beat Chihuahua, beat Monterey down the road? But
you know, take it one stepat a time to get to where you
want to get. And I thoughtthat a lot of Sunday's match had a
mental aspect to it. You know, Chihuahua comes in with kind of a
relentless mentality. They are grinders,They are methodical, They are very intentional

(43:38):
in the way that they are tryingto work you guys for sixty minutes and
they do not take a break,They do not let up anew and that's
something that Hanoni has clearly installed inthe club. I felt that listen,
when you guys got shafted with somereally bad calls, and you did,
you got shafted with some really badcalls, but I really thought it affected

(44:00):
the way you guys played in thesecond half. Yeah, you know,
aside from what you just said, you know, some of this cause were
where we looked at each other andsaid like, how how did you make
that call? How did you notmake that call in our favor? Or
how did you pull out two bluecards at the same time when it should
have just been one. You know, I think at the end of the

(44:20):
day, it's the mental mistakes thatkilled us, and those mental mistakes come
from us sometimes at times being toofocused on the referee and not being able
to, Okay, calm down alittle bit, you know, uh,
control those emotions and settle back intothe game and realize what's more important at
that moment, you know, Andand that goes a long way. And

(44:43):
let's say, you know, maybewe're not even yelling at the referees,
right, but at the end ofthe day, we still got to be
mentally ready and focused for sixty minutes. Because if we're not focused for sixty
minutes and it's forty minutes or fortyfive minutes, that can happen. And
that it showed on Sunday, youknow, we were not focused for sixty
minutes and we were on the badside of it unfortunately, you know.

(45:09):
So I just feel like we gotto be able to mentally be ready and
at the end of the day, just dig deep, dig d because to
what was the type of team that'snot going to stop working. They're not
going to stop hustling. They're notgoing to stop pushing you and shoving you
and running and get into your faceor whatever it may be. And and

(45:30):
we we got to be able tomatch that. If not, you know,
be above that. You know, play better, play harder, play
faster, just just in every aspect. And unfortunately, we're not hted.
We're not firing and in all cylindersright now. You know, defensively,
we were, we were set forthirty minutes, and then we lost it

(45:52):
in the third quarter, you know, and and and that's that's that's not
okay, that's not okay. Uh. We got to be ready to play
sixty minutes. And if we're notready to play sixty minutes, then what
happened on Sunday is going to keephappening, especially if we're looking for into
making the championship match and you know, lifting that cup up at the end
of the season. We got tobe able to play sixty minutes. It's

(46:15):
it's there's it's there's nothing else toit. And you know, we're talking
about the mindset of things here andkeeping it cool tranquilos. But another aspect
too is that teams are taking noticeand about these aspects this season, and
they're also getting a little bit morephysical with the soccers. Have you noticed
that as a team, noticed thatas a whole, that that some teams
are getting a little bit more testyand just getting a little bit more brutals

(46:37):
in there. And and what's theway to you know, respond the best?
Do you go ahead and match thator but also maintaining that level of
composure. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think if you ask me the
way I look at it, atleast these teams have to be physical with

(46:58):
us, because if they're not physicalwith us, we're gonna just in my
opinion here right, we're gonna outplaythem. We're gonna outplay them if they're
not physical with us. And thenin it and it showed, you know,
I think Kansas City one is oneof the one of the first teams.
We're not first, other teams playersvery physical, but Kassas City,
you know, they're they're much morephysical than than than usual. And and

(47:22):
we just got to prepare and beready for that at the end of the
day, and and we got tobe able to do the same. You
know, we gotta be we alsogot to be physical, but we got
to be smart about it. Wewe can't overdo it or make it excessive
or or do too much, beaggressive, be ready, be physical to
where it's not too much. Andlike I did, like you know,

(47:43):
we just got to make sure thatwe don't overdo it, because we don't.
We don't want to keep getting thosecalls against us where where it's going
to jeopardize the outcome of the game. I mean, it's very simple,
right, It's it's mathfullipe. Theyget a blue, you get a yellow.
They're gonna say for two you're gonnasit for maybe seven, maybe eight,
maybe nine minutes. You don't,right, how long you're going to

(48:04):
wind up stuck in that box?Yeah yeah, I mean you're in there
for five minutes technically, right, but if the ball doesn't technically go out
of bounds, you're stuck in therefor another two, three, four minutes,
like you said, Craig. Sowe've got to get ourselves out of
that situation. You know, it'sfrustrating, very frustrating at times, to
be honest with you, because we'reall humans, right, we all make
mistakes and we all have emotions runningin us, so it can be hard

(48:30):
at times to not say anything orto not maybe wave a hand or whatever.
It may be. Right, it'snormal. I think it's very normal.
But like you said, we gotto be smarter about that, because
we should not be spending seven eightminutes in the box. We should be

(48:51):
spending those seven eight minutes on thefield figuring out what to do and how
to get better and how to turnturn the score around in on our favor.
And I'm going to follow up onthat too fullype because it's really kind
of the last thing. Right. We're all together. We've circled the wagons.
That's the name of the show,Circle the wagons. We're inside the
wagons. We're safe. We're chattingwith each other how we're going to hold
off this horde that's outside, andwhen they get physical, I think you

(49:15):
boys got to get precise. Andthat turns me to the power play.
San Diego is last in the league. In power play, you are putting
in basically one out of four bluecards and turning them into goals. And
when that happens, that means teamsget three free blue card fouls against you

(49:35):
every game. That have the physicalimpact of hurting a player, have the
mental impact of getting you mad,and also have the tactical impact of often
leading to yellow cards down the roadthat you take a disproportionate penalty if you
I've said it so many times,Felipe. But if you guys score fifty
plus percent on the power play,no team in the league can be physical

(49:57):
with you because it means a minustwo goal to pruential every game. Correct.
And you're right, you know, because maybe they do. Maybe these
teams do come in looking at thesestats stats and say, hey, let's
just be a little bit more physical. Right their last in in in the
entire league and in the power place, so we have nothing to lose.
We'll make it a coin toss andit'll probably end up in our favorite regardless,

(50:19):
you know. And and that's whatwe got to realize and get better.
We we know, like I said, we're not firing and firing and
all cylinders, and and that's that'sone aspect of it. That's just one
little section. And what we gotthat four or five games, we we
got to do something to to topick up that percentage and make it look

(50:44):
better. And if we get fourpower plays, and again we got to
be able to get three in thein the net, you know, And
it all comes down to training andgoing back to the drawing board and kind
of figuring out what works best forus, going back to maybe what we
did last year or the year priorto that, to where we were we
were. I feel like I feltlike we were scoring a good amount of
power plays. But whatever it maybe, whatever we we work on this

(51:07):
week, you know, we wedefinitely got a touch base on the whole
power play situation and turn the page, make it better, because power plays,
like you said, are crucial andif we're not connecting, if we're
not putting them away, then it'snot going to help us, right and
we we just we need to allaround get better in every way possible right

(51:32):
now. And we got a fewgames to figure that out and hopefully get
it together. So we're hoping forgood things right now. Man. Yeah,
Eco Mo the hesta you mentioned itearlier. Right if you compare this
two hour match against the last twothat you'd have, I think there is
an increment and you guys haven't playingwell. That's as well as things are

(51:55):
being uh, they're on the upturn, Right, So what about the squad
right now is really a positive thatyou're taking as far as you know what,
we may have already gone through this, but just wait in these four
days, four match days, thisis going to go ahead and happen to
be ready for playoffs. What areyou noticing on the training ground and with

(52:15):
you as well? Kus, areyou enjoying your your play as well?
So I'll go ahead and talk aboutthe team first, you know, I
think losses are important, you know, and and we we have to just
basically learn from them. That's allwe can do at this point. We
can't put our heads down and giveourselves such a hard time and do all

(52:38):
all those moments, right. Wekind of got to just let it go
and learn from it, you know, which is what we're doing and what
we have been doing. And Ithink it's part of the reason too why
our play was better on Sunday againsttwo hour, because we learned from those
mistakes that we made against Kansas Cityand and I feel like we all around
played better at slowly in my eyes, right, we dropped about a little

(53:01):
bit into the quarter, like Isaid, little mental mistakes which can be
fixed, right, But I feellike we're going to be headed in the
right direction. And we are.We are heading the right direction. I
feel like we're going to go intoplayoffs playing strong, playing better. You
know, it's it's just it's justabout the team coming together and figuring it

(53:22):
out and making sure we're on thesame page and working for each other and
helping each other out. You know, at the end of the day,
we're in this together. We wewe lose together. We we went together,
you know, and and and there'sno other way around this at this
point other than coming together and andand digging deep more than anything, digging

(53:42):
deep in the ups and the inthe downs. You know, when we're
up high, you know, howdo we control that when we're down low?
How do we weather the storm?Little things like that. So I
feel like we will be okay.I feel like going into playoffs, these
guys will understand that it's going tobe really important that that we dig deep.

(54:04):
And you know, we don't havethe luxury or not to. I
think, if I'm not mistaken tolose another game, we got to make
sure we we try and get thathome field advantage for the playoffs, which
is crucial, so that that's goingto play a big part, you know.
And as for me personally, youknow, I'm happy with with what

(54:25):
I'm being able to do and kindof half of the team in any way,
shape or form, offensively or defensively. I think we've spoken about this
before, guys, and you knowCraig knows. You know, I'm always
going to play for the team,uh, regardless of what position you put
me in. You know. Obviouslyscoring goals is always a bonus, but

(54:46):
winning is always better than miscoring andwhatnot. So yeah, put you on
the right team, Felipe, You'reon the right team. You've been on
the right team. Just real quickbefore you go, because I wanted to
make sure for the the notes. You got that hat trick Friday. Did
you ever have a hat trick inVegas? Or was that your first M
A s L hat trick. Idid have a hat trick before, I

(55:09):
just I'm not sure if it wasa style at the time. It probably
was, if I remember correctly,I think I did. But with the
soccers this is, if I'm notmistaken. My first hat trick, yes,
yep, no, I looked itup. I looked it up.
That wasn't going to be. Iwasn't going to be wrong. You know,

(55:30):
when I write in the in therecap, I'm not going to be
wrong. So the only thing wasI couldn't look up Vegas because there's no
It's like a magical time. There'sno records. If anything that happened,
what happened in Vegas stayed in Vegas. Phillip, No, I do what
happens though, it doesn't matter anymoreto what happens here at this moment,
at this time and with this team. So so I was excited. I

(55:52):
was happy, you know that Iwas able to have out the team with
those three goals, you know, scoring. Like I said, I'm always
gonna sa the score is always won. But I'm happy with my performance right
now. And I feel like everyyear that kind of goes by. I
feel like personally, in my ownopinion, I'm I'm just kind of I
feel like I'm getting better in thatsense. So I'm looking to keep pushing

(56:17):
and keep hopping out the team andwhatever way I can so so hopefully we
can lift our trophy up at theend of the season. Hey, you're
aging like a vintage wine. You'rejust growing in value all the time.
U. You are on six penaltypoints, so be very judicious about when
when you pick up your fifth yellowcard, which I'm sure you're going to
at some point you mouth a littlefriend of mine, So uh, you

(56:40):
know, like maybe consider doing thatin the second to last game of the
season. Yeah, so that Ilook at the end of the day,
man, look and I'm gonna becauseI'm not gonna say anything wrong, you
know, and I'm gonna say itbecause it is what it is, you
know. And first they say youcan't it's for just saying and then they

(57:00):
say, oh, you can't waveyour hands, and that makes it hard
on your on a player in general. So it makes you think, okay,
so what can I do. I'mgonna put my hands down and just
walk away like power or no,Like we're all humans at the end of
the day. But it's like, first you want to give me a card
because it's descent. Then I don'tdo don't say anything, but then I
wave my hands and that's also notokay. It makes it hard, you

(57:23):
know, it makes it hard, and it's normal when you're when you got
emotions running in you, you're gonnatalk with your hands at the end of
the day, you know, sowhatever, that's the least of it.
Thank you, Thank you, Tony. That's exactly it, man, that's
exactly it right there. So youknow what, nothing taken at the end
of the day. It all comesdown to us, the sixteen guys that

(57:45):
are on a roster and making surethat we pull through and get that w
A at the end of any game. So we'll let you go, buddy,
Thank you so much that that wasreally good. Listen, your coach
is Italian. I mean, whatare you gonna do. You're used to
the arms. Get out there absolutelypractice film anywhere it is. Those arms

(58:06):
are flying. So oh my gosh. Well Rader's arm was flying too,
but that's a different story. Nevermind, all right, We're gonna let
you Goddy. We'll see you gotit. There he goes, fully faking.
Sometimes I just like to uh stirthe ship. I'm sorry, sometimes

(58:29):
I feel like it needs to bedone. But aren't you glad that you
know it's one of the situations.I'm glad that he's on the team and
not playing against a team like that'sthe type of fire that this team needs
and has been having. And Ithink with that lead by example, type
of situation is is going to playdividends here at the end, and I'm
really I'm really happy with where mentallya Felipe is just because again, he

(58:51):
needs to make sure that you know, he's aware. He's incredibly aware of
what's going on in there. Butyou can't have that intensity without having all
of a hundred of the players,So, you know, I think it
was very honest there. I reallyenjoyed that. Actually, there was a
lot of intentionality in inviting him ontoday's show. I really think he's one

(59:13):
of the if not the most thoughtfulplayers on the team, and I think
he's one of the most honest players. Not that there's a bunch of dishonest
players, you know what I'm saying. Just like he speaks from the heart,
he speaks from his mind as well. He's very open and I thought
that was a really productive and fruitfuldiscussion. And I think we're all on
agreement on the things the soccers needto do better to win a championship this

(59:37):
year, and they haven't done thosethings yet, and if they don't do
those things, they'll come up shortto Chiuaha in the semi finals. But
if they do those things, theythey have his They've got as good a
chance as anybody to win the championship, which is a good transition to MASL
news. Let's transition to MASL news. All right, So Monterey's twenty and

(01:00:02):
zero and MASL Mexico is thirty oneand oh. Thirty one and oh against
the eleven American sides this year. That's amazing. We're almost at the point

(01:00:23):
where as a fan of just statistics, you know, and dominance and seeing
things play out in kind of asports poetic way, like if the two
Mexican teams literally never lose to anAmerican team the whole year, make it

(01:00:45):
their season, and then face oneanother for the championship, what do we
have to say? You know, what can anyone say about it other than
they're the best and you're the rest. You know, thirty one and beep
oh oh is a real thing that'shappened in this league. So on the

(01:01:06):
very top you just have to,you know, tip your cap proverbially,
and you know, now we lookat at Monterey eight and a half goals
a game, almost a plus onehundred goal differential. They're averaging a two
plus goal win per match. Penaltykills dynamic power play is not great,

(01:01:31):
but no one's power plays great. This year, they've won twenty in a
row. On one level, yougo, this is the dominant team,
and there's just no way that anything'sgoing to happen other than Monterey winning the
championship this year. You might beright, but I gotta tell you,
Tony give Ustle. I was herefor twenty eighteen nineteen for the San Diego

(01:01:54):
Soccers, a team that went twentythree and one, but they lost their
third game. They won twenty onein a row going into the playoffs.
They won their first two playoff gamesas well. They got to twenty three.
But along that way, in thattwenty three match winning streak, they
won six different times in overtime. They kept pushing it to the limit,

(01:02:19):
they kept taking it to the edge, and then they would get to that
edge and they would back off,and they would they would dance off the
edge, they would somersault off theedge having won the game. And then
they got to a one goal matchin the conference semi or in the league
semifinal in the conference final against Monterey, and they were up one with three

(01:02:42):
minutes to play and found a concedinggoal. On a mistake by a good
defender and then they gave up againstthe run of play a goal from Miguel
Vaka and they lost, you know, and it was three to two final,
and the Soccers were out of there. They never lost that one goal
game. They never had that unluckymoment in the season. It came at

(01:03:04):
the worst absolute moment. And ifI was a Flash fan, this would
be concerning to me right now,I would literally be rooting for them to
drop a game along the way justto remember what it feels like to lose.
And of course when they get tothe playoffs, they won't have a
situation where it's one game that theylose in their out. That's what happened

(01:03:25):
to the Soccers that year was itwas a worse setup for the league.
They'll have a safety net in theplayoffs no matter what. They could lose
a game in every round and theycould win the championship. But I do
think that when you play this fastand loose, the Flash are nine to
zero in games that were one ortwo goals this year. Nine of their

(01:03:45):
twenty forty five percent of their matchesthis year are one or two goals.
Six of the twenty are one goalmatches. Most of those have been on
the road, and they have outsome wild games. This is one that
it didn't look like they were gonnapull out Tony. They were losing to
mesquite in the fourth quarter. Itkind of felt like just what I was

(01:04:09):
talking about, like, Okay, here's that game, yeah that you know,
here's that game that you didn't quiteplay well enough and you drop one
on the road and you go,Okay, there's that loss. We regroup,
we resettle, and no, theypulled it out again. It's wild,
Yeah, And I mean, howsustainable is it to keep redlining this

(01:04:30):
hot rod? Right? Like,I don't care what engineering you have in
under the hood, but that's goingto take its toll. I can definitely
see that. You know, youneed to get this malaise out of the
way because as a great lady Gagaonce said, you know, Monterey's on
the edge of glory right now,and this is the price that you have
to pay because you're teetering on thissuper thin edge of the sword that that's

(01:04:57):
going to catch up at some point. And if your luck is going through
the championship, then I think youknow that's been written and you deserve it
because you've been the best team inthe league overall. But that's not how
this league is set up. It'snot necessarily set up for the success of
the first place team of the SupporterShield winner to go all the way and
wring the raw Newman Cup. That'sthat. Everything just kind of resets once

(01:05:18):
playoffs set. There's new mentalities, there's playoff teams, there's playoff players.
All these different dynamics start coming across. And this is the first year that
this particular team, this unit willbe facing other good teams in the playoffs.
Right, Monterey can beat Savage onceagain in this final match that they

(01:05:39):
have coming up, but if theirtime runs out at the inadequate time from
Monterey, then it's anybody's game atthis point. And you know, we
can be looking at back to backSavage or potentially Soccer is getting their act
together and you know, making thatfinal final push. It's not over.
It's not over till it's over, and I think it's going to play out

(01:05:59):
for some really good competitive playoff soccer. I agree with you. Meanwhile,
in the East, down below Monterey, where the Flash have already clinched the
East and are now I think justI think one result away from clinching the
shield. I think they're right.I mean fifty eight points. Let's do
the math real quick. So they'reat fifty eight, they've got four left.

(01:06:21):
What are we at? We areat forty three and we have six
five left, So the most wecan get is sixty eight. That would
be tied. There's no head tohead I think second tiebreakers, goal differential.

(01:06:43):
They've basically won the shield. Yeahit's over. Yeah it's over.
Their next win will take care ofthat for sure. So you can just
go ahead and backpocket that throw itaway. Monterey is winning the shield.
The bottom of the East or themiddle of the East is quite interesting.
Kansas City has done what they've hadto do. They won the two games

(01:07:05):
in California, they came back, they got another dub and the Comets are
now back to being a one pointvirtual or true lead over Baltimore. They've
got four more matches played, butwith a thirteen point lead. If you
gave Baltimore all twelve points to catchup, it would be thirty six thirty

(01:07:30):
five Kansas City with the advantage. So big kudos to Kansas City for doing
what they've done, winning those threematches in a row. We said it
before the two teams met that KansasCity was really up against the wall and
that they had to win at theminimum four of their last six, and
they've won three of three out ofthat six with three left to go.

(01:07:51):
So comets doing what they need todo to get into the playoffs. For
the Blast Tony, you know,I had said that I would have to
wear a Blast jersey on soccers overtime, disgracing this sacred ground, defiling it.
Really, I mean, let's bereal about it. It's I don't

(01:08:15):
know if I could come back fromthat as as a soccer's voice. Now.
If they sent me a stance Toamenkeof its jersey specifically, I think
that would. I think that wouldstem it somehow because he's like a Hall
of Famer, so it would beokay. But I don't think Brad Crossley
has to worry about this. Idon't think GEO has to worry about this

(01:08:36):
at all. Because Baltimore, wesaid it last week, was facing a
four match set that they could easilylose all four, and then they went
on out and they got some smokedon their home floor by Milwaukee and then
they got smoked on the road byUtica City. They got completely blown to

(01:09:00):
smith Areens. This weekend blast boomI ed inside the locker room is how
it went for Baltimore's So uh really, no blaeno for the blast they've got
this weekend at Chiwawa hat moterey ViaCone deals blust viacone deals and you know

(01:09:26):
what, for the sake of it, why don't let's both put something.
If they somehow win a game ortwo, then you know, oh word
Jersey too. I'll find one, find a circus tent, a decommission circus
tent in Baltimore, and put theBaltimore Blast crest on and send it over.
I always are the same. Howcould you tell the difference? Yeah,

(01:09:49):
so you know, look, Baltimore, you had a nice run in
the middle of the year, butwe picked you to miss the playoffs for
the first time in ten seasons ofthe MASL. At the start of the
year we said you'd finish fifth, but in our hearts, you'd finished last.
Because for the blast, if you'renot first, your last? So

(01:10:10):
do you like apples? I likewhen history's made? We are witnessing history
right first, first, year notmaking it so we are all witnesses.
And now lastly an MSL news therace that no one will admit to,
the race that no one will dareadmit. Milwaukee and Kansas City and Utica

(01:10:39):
are all just going to say thatthey just want to be informed. Going
into the playoffs. All they wantto do is qualify, get into the
road to Ron and go chasing theRon Newman Cup. But it's a dirty
lie. They all want to finishsecond or third. No one wants to
finish fourth and lose to Monterey inthe first round. Are you kidding me?

(01:11:00):
So this is the battle now,and it's a fun battle. Like
at the end of the year we'relooking for races, there really aren't any.
For the most part. There's ustrying to hold off Chihuahua. That's
a real race. And there's thisthe scramble for second place with Utica and
Milwaukee and Casey all within three pointsof one another. It makes it makes

(01:11:29):
things interesting, and I really like, I'm enjoying this mid table battle.
And it's that you know, everybody'sclimbing up the ladder and the fire's coming
up, fires coming up, andyou just don't want to be caught in
that last dead last place, becauseit's gonna catch up and you are going
to be torched if everything goes right. And again, once again, I
welcome chaos. If that's not thecase, whoever's in fourth wants to have

(01:11:51):
a Cinderella season, by golly,go for it. Like I welcome that,
But I'd be a fool to putany real stock into that. Anybody
who's going to be in fourth, you know, just yeah, give all
the giveaways, the giveaways away,as k Vibbert says, I mean sure

(01:12:12):
in the West to Tacoma's trying toget out of fourth, obviously, because
we've beaten them five times, We'vegot one more game against them. They'd
love to jump up to third andat least take on Chihuahua. I mean,
honestly, the Stars have no chanceagainst Chihua. They haven't been close
in those games. The Stars alreadygot me Atovich on loan. Maybe they're
going to get Stinton on loan, and we are a MASL news. Let

(01:12:35):
me just say this real quick.Uh, what's I'm so sorry. I'm
so sorry to your tender years. What's happening in the league right now is
bullshit. Because loans are now becomingjust a thing in the MASL and that's

(01:12:57):
not how it's supposed to work. It's just not how it's supposed to work.
There were loans in the COVID seasonwhen teams were inactive and they were
loaning players to active teams. Therehave been loans in the league for players
who are unable to play in theUnited States because of visa issues, being
loaned to Mexican teams so that thoseplayers could earn a living and play.

(01:13:21):
Kind of an egalitarian move by franchises. And by the way, the soccers
loaned Ismail Rojo and Poil Ruiz andIrvin Mohica to Monterey. They still own
the rights to those players next year. But of course if they don't get
p one visa's it doesn't matter. They can't come up to the United States

(01:13:44):
and play. They can come tothe United States and play. They can
do it as a Mexican team wherethey're getting paid in Mexico for what they
do. If they're trying to getpaid in the US, they can't do
it. But to have an Americanteam that just happens to be below the
play playoff line, loaning players toan American team that's above the playoff line

(01:14:04):
in order to make money on theloan, save money on the salary,
and just get the player back.I'm sorry, I'm sorry. There's no
valid reason for this to happen inthe MASL. And if I sound like

(01:14:26):
a whiny, little petty bitch tonight, I'm sorry. But we saw in
each match this weekend garish examples ofphysical things happening to soccer's without repercussion.
And you've got teams trading players toother teams, which is not a trade
without repercussion. I've tried to dosome digging on this. I'm not gonna

(01:14:50):
do anything that's beyond what I've beentold. I can say I do believe
that this is something that we'll changein the off season. I think this
is something that is going to changein the offseason, which means it's wrong
right now. It means it's wrongright now. They know it's wrong right

(01:15:13):
now, and quite possibly somebody, somebody in a position of power, maybe
not our glorious Triumvirate or is managingto wield their influence in a manner that
allows these types of things to occur. It's garbage, it's semi pro.

(01:15:40):
Straight up. It's the type ofthing that happens at the water Tower League
where some team is one to ninebut has a good player and that player
wants to go play on the sixand one team. Yeah, yeah,
I was gonna try to defend, but no, you're absolutely right. That's
literally what happened. Right. Ohhey, come on, we gotta go
get Johnny. Have you seen thatguy? That dude can ball? I
don't know why. He always goesout with his friends. We have a

(01:16:05):
term for that. It's called youbring somebody over. It's like that's the
that's the ringer. Yeah, soI want this to end in this league,
and you know, Tony, thebest way for this to end.
The only way for this to endis for the San Diego Soccers to get

(01:16:26):
a loan. Do it for thesoccers to get a player on loan.
Because the day the soccers get aplayer on loan, somebody's got to get
a yellow card, somebody's got toget suspended. Some rules got to change,
some bylaws got to be rewritten, because God forbid, we got to
make a statement. We've got tomake a statement around here. It's it's

(01:16:54):
it's the most whose line. Isit anyway league I've seen with the way
that it's happening, or just makingup the rules and the points don't matter.
It seems so Marle's just setting upfor the for the valor of the
North Park water Tower Indoor League thatthat you couldn't move up. Yeah,

(01:17:15):
it might be more reputable and havestronger laws. Somebody tell me Atovic,
get back to the get back tothe other team, get on back now
you're here. Just it's just wildto me. I'm sorry, it's just
wild. Uh. Something's happened inthis league that I cannot explain, and
several of those happened over the lastfive days. So we'll wait for an

(01:17:41):
explanation, I guess for a reasonthat's never been The president of the league
says this that this sport's going tobe more popular than the NHL in seven
years and that they have a plan. Okay, uh, let's wrap things
up. It's going to be promotionalstuff from now on. League. You
can go ahead, you can tuneout. What the heck is the wrong

(01:18:08):
with you guys? How is thiselbow to the back of the head.
How how bite bite to the shoulder? Bite? We need we need to
get a refund from the league onthe extra cameras that are used for for

(01:18:30):
the assistant video review, because clearlyit's not they're not being used. So
I think we are, you knowthese we're out of money. A grim
day for the NASL. I will, we will send the footage. We
have the footage. I mean, look, let me let me show you
how how just conscious I think,I don't know if you saw this angle

(01:18:53):
Craig, this is just the mostvicious angle we got, the the curd
angle ankle log on this play.It was just disgusting what was happening.
Yes, I mean, look that'sthat's that's it right there there, you
see it. I mean it's asclear as day, just filthy, no,
no, no right to have thatthat individual there anymore. It's get

(01:19:15):
them out, arrest them on thesoccer squad obviously blue card on the soccer
squad for that also blue card onon Sunny maybe I mean maybe right,
that's okay, that's okay, that'sall right, okay, Soccer's news.

(01:19:35):
Let's all lighten up. We allneed something to kind of who reset refresh,
Let's help out for some charity.Let's let's uh let's throw some corn
hole. Let's do it. Howabout Soccers Kicks and Toss Charity Cup.

(01:19:55):
This is coming up on March thirtieth, prior to the Soccers regular season finale.
It is happening at Pachanga Arena,San Diego. It is a corn
hole tournament. So if you're goodat tossing the sandy bags, this is
the place for you. And it'llbenefit rally for Riley and Friends, one

(01:20:16):
of our great sponsors, one ofthe great charities that we have helped sponsor
over the years with the golf tournamentand other things. And it'll be conducted
by the Southern California corn Hole Association. Just sixty bucks to get your tag
team in there. Biting is notallowed unless you bite to Voy Morgan,

(01:20:36):
in which case it's fine. Sdsoccersdot Com slash Cornhole is the way to
get signed up, so check itout. The Soccers Kicks and Toss Charity
Come Toy Runner is Cornholio. Wellthen you should be good at this game.

(01:20:57):
You should be good at this game. Why can't it all be smiles,
Craig. Can we just go torainbows and sunshines as it once was?
I look at it, I know, wild wild stuff, you know.
Callen just hast a really really goodquestion, and I actually do have

(01:21:18):
some answers. Great work by soccersfans around the nation, around the world.
Special Olympics cleared over thirty two hundreddollars on Friday, Navy League cleared
almost thirty five hundred dollars on Sundayin terms of charitable donations proceeds from the

(01:21:42):
soccer's game warn autograph jersey auctions. So thank you, thank you, Thank
you to our great soccers fans andto the fans around the country that bid
on kits. Yeah, almost thirtytwo hundred for Special Olympics, almost thirty
five hundred for Navy Leagues. Reallyreally well done, great stuff. Enjoy

(01:22:03):
the kids have a lot of fun. That is. It's great work.
Great work San Diego soccers fans,Yeah, great, great great causes too.
So always coming out that this isthe community that's built here of excellence
on and off the field. Ohno, I left my sugar skull scarf

(01:22:25):
outside. Please vamp for just asecond, Tony, I got you.
Hang on, I'll be right back. I'll be right, OK, good,
All right. So we're here downin the south Bay, and we
want to thank everybody who's been supportingus and being gracious all across the Grand
Old Arena and in the chat throughoutdefending the soccers in other matches. I've

(01:22:45):
seen people who are in the chatnow and I'll watch a random Tacoma match
and soccers have nothing to do withit, and you guys are there,
So thank you for that. Wewill have the media game this Sunday and
he is back and yepo. Solike ninety percent of the people that agreed
to play in the media game arenow at the Gold Cup on Sunday.

(01:23:10):
Yeah, like everyone but you andJohnny one of course, Cabana Boy Jeff
is ready to jump in. Sowe're up to two B two. It's
set. It is done, Souh, check back with me on the
media game. The media game is. The media game is in dire straits

(01:23:31):
right now. The media games lookinglike the Oakland Athletics future in the Bay,
like tenuous at best, you know, but yeah, sorry, big
three tournament style where it's only onegoal. We're just gonna throw a panic
cord right in the middle and justhave you jerks go love it, jump
in play King's court. Oh mygolly okay, so let's tell you about

(01:23:59):
Sunday. Sunday Empires in town. And you know, normally I just say,
okay, whatever, But a lotof cool things are happening for Sunday's
match above and beyond San Diego, hopefully taking another three points from Paul Wright
and friends. Starting with fan Fest, Let's start there. This is happening
out in the parking lot. Firstfan fest we've had this season. It'll
be from three to five PM.And Spencer is ce are incredible, amazing,

(01:24:24):
along with Ezra and Sonora and John, the folks of the employees of
the soccers working every day behind thescenes, understaffed but with enough heart to
carry the load all the way downthe road. Here's what's going on for
fan Fest. It's in the Northparking lot, right next to the box
office. Food vendors who will bethere will include a taco bar, Toasty

(01:24:49):
Locos, I don't know, ToastyLocos, pastries of It, Dorty Bueno,
seven sixty Chamoi candies will be there. Ten dollars Margarita's will be available
out at FanFest. Plus for thekids, face paint and animal balloons,
a jumpy jump, a Soccer's booth, plus dancers, plus a mariachi band.

(01:25:16):
So all of that is happening onHispanic Heritage Night at the pregame Soccers
fan Fest from three to five pm. Pretty nice. Make sure you come
early, make a little time forit, right, you know, if
you're not gonna come at three, couple four, you know, show up
at four. Check it out, enjoy, maybe support one of those vendors

(01:25:39):
who have come out there and workinghard out in the parking lot. Get
yourself a taco, get yourself amargarita. What's a toasty loco? Tostillcos
craig are the insane creation of someyoung Mexican woman where she got the tostitos,
the Mexican salsa tostitos. Put themon the side. I'd cut it,

(01:26:00):
added peanuts, ce dice, cucumber, pork kuairitos. I'm not going
say that the pork skin in vinegartype of thing. Jamoi chile lemon.
You can put some chaka chakas, which is some tamarind type Mexican candy that's
spicy sweetness. You throw that inthere, you throw a fork in it,

(01:26:24):
and it's honestly, absolutely phenomenal. It will give you heartburn for the
next several days, but it's incredible. Just if you if you're into like
sour things like or just like tangythat sort of world, I would highly
recommend it. You don't have toget the tostitos with the pueritos, with
the porkskins, but you can absolutelyadd everything else. And it's like a

(01:26:48):
it's literally a fiesta of a botanaof just a snack fiesta in your mouth,
my mouth I started watering. Sorry, it's I kind of feel like
Nadi. We should get one ofthese, Tony, And in case the
match is the type of match thatwe hope it will be and it's not,
you know, one goal in thefourth quarter, then maybe we have

(01:27:09):
some fourth quarter toasty locos, littlelive taste test. I think I'm very
well. I can. I haveto be at prime shape to maybe go
down those stairs, but I will. I mean, let's find out there.
It would be a second half thing. It'd be a second half thing.
It would be your snack. No, I like that. Here,
let me just give you a quickjust visual of what this is, just

(01:27:31):
because you know, and it's literallya fiesta. Wow, it's mm hm
hmm, okay, all right, feeling it. Heck, yes, icy
chips. So they just look liketakies. So you mix some talkies in
there too. You can't put sometalkies there's takis locals. I mean,

(01:27:53):
it just took off as something thatpeople started doing, almost like a poutine
in the snack eye of a Mexicanin ale of food for less. It
just kind of took a life ofits own. You can you get a
Mexican routine? Yeah, there's youcan throw uh some some corn in there,
and it's it's just it's just theculture of its own. I'm glad

(01:28:15):
we can have the comb and shipCraig I just shared with locals. Are
great bacterial culture in there as well. Just depending on how long it's left
out, right listen, If aslong as it's left out till the fourth
quarter, maybe maybe we can dothat on Sunday. I think that would
be a lot of fun. Here, hang on, I'm gonna hold up
the giveaway scarf. This is freeto everyone on Sunday. Mean, no

(01:28:41):
of my ass. I love that. That is a beautiful, beautiful design.
Honestly, the soccer's merch has beenon point this year. Just those
mhmm, and those are the coolSan Diego scarves, right, that is

(01:29:03):
a summer scarf exactly, That's asummer scarf. So that's you know,
honestly for San Diego with summer scarfis also a winter scarf because it's really
not that cold here in San Diego, so it works all the way.
But I think this is a reallyreally cool design. This is maybe my
second favorite giveaway scarf we've ever done, behind the first year that Jerry was

(01:29:26):
here, he had a beautiful, beautiful scarf, So really really good cool
stuff. You get that. Makesure you get in early. I mean,
you know, if we have ahuge crowd on Sunday, we could
run out, but you know, make sure you just get in there,
get to the fan fest and joysome toasty locos and joyce some margarita's.
Enjoy some tacos and joyce some mariachi. Have the kids jump around on the
jumpy jump, do the whole thing, face painting, do it all.

(01:29:50):
And then it's match day. It'sthe Sockers and the Empire Strikers. It's
match five of six. They're gonnaplay the next two times here this week,
next week on the seventeenth up therein Empire, and look, here's
the situation, plain and simple,Okay. In thirty minutes up there in

(01:30:12):
Empire, Chihuahua will kick off againstthe Strikers, So go Empire. The
match after that is for Chihua isMonterey. It's Monterey. And as we
know, if there's one team thatChihua can't beat YEP or at least hasn't

(01:30:32):
beaten, it's Monterey. So thepath to the Pacific Division regular season championship
starts with talking about the Savage. The Savage have three matches in hand on
San Diego. They play at Empire, they host Monterey, they host Baltimore.

(01:30:54):
They go to Tacoma for a pairnext weekend, back to back.
Not impossible that Tacoma picks one outof the group, but you know,
they haven't lost to an American teamyet. And then they will host Empire,
and then they'll go to Harrisburg towrap up the season and they'll you
know, pummel the Heat twice. So it goes down like this. If

(01:31:20):
Chihuahua loses a game the rest ofthe year, if they lose to the
Flash later this week, they playThursday, they play Thursday at home.
So you know, look, theyplayed Sunday here, they play Tuesday in

(01:31:41):
Empire. Tonight, they fly homeTomorrow Thursday, they host Monterey. If
the Flash win that game, thenthe Soccers have four points to spare the
rest of the season. Means theycould basically lose one more game and win
a game in overtime the rest ofthe year and they would be good.

(01:32:04):
They'd be good, they'd be thePacific Division champs. But if Chihuahua wins
out, if they beat Monterey,if they go one in five against the
Flash, which seems like a reasonableresult for the defending Rod Newman Cup champions,
then the Soccers can only see onegame into overtime that they win.

(01:32:28):
The rest of the year, theyhave to win every single match, and
if they win every single match andone of them goes into overtime, they
will finish one point ahead of Chihuahua. At the end of the year.
They cannot be tied with the Savagebecause tie breaker is all Chihuahua. So
tie is lose, it's win,or it's lose for San Diego. So

(01:32:53):
you know, you've got these twogames against Empire. Soccers dropped a point
in Empire last time. It's goingto be another good crowd. Say what
you want about the Strikers. They'redrawing fans up in Inland Empire, so
that you know. But it's notthe third game of the week like it
was the last time that San Diegowas there. Exhausted, bone, tired,

(01:33:17):
injured, everything else. The Socckershave a week to play Empire and
then another week to play Empire. So look, no excuses. Got to
win all six points. Got tojust beat the tar out of the Strikers
these two matches, and then it'svery straightforward. It's Milwaukee Kansas City a
back to back the following weekend onthe road of Friday Saturday, back to

(01:33:39):
back. Got to take them all, got to take them all. You
can do it, but it's noteasy. And if you get to that,
then it's beat to come at home. Take the Pacific Division. But
in all likelihood, it is goingto come down to that last game.
If the Soccers do their job,it's going to come down to that very

(01:34:00):
last game. And to wrap thingsup, Gabriel Costa is training with the
team. It is straight up downto when his cast comes off. So
I don't think it comes off thisweek, But when it comes off,
he'll be ready the next game becausehe's already training, he's already working with
the club. He just can't playwith the cast on because of course,

(01:34:25):
he would be immediately suspended because hewould probably wave his arm arguing in an
official's call and would graze the jerseyof an opposing player and it would be
a five game suspension or something likethat. I attempt to murder a weapon
on the field. Yeah, it'sit's almost comically predictable, like we just

(01:34:47):
but at the same time, it'sthere's just a hint of truth that's unfortunate.
Leo is working his way back andhe definitely inten tends to be back
sooner than later. He intends tobe back well before the playoffs. But
when we talk about well before theplayoffs, that could be next week in
Empire. It could be the trip, it could be the Midwest trip.

(01:35:11):
You'd hope to not only have onegame to get those guys worked in on
the thirtieth, But if that didhappen to be the case, you know,
the soccers had one game to getto Void Morgan worked in in the
COVID season, and then they wentinto the playoffs and they won the championship,
and that needs to be something thatSoccers fans keep in mind. We're
not gonna be a favorite the restof the year. We shouldn't be a
favorite the rest of the year.Chiuwa was the favorite to win the West

(01:35:33):
monter Ray's the favorite to win theMASL. It's not shaming our club.
It's not doing anything to say thatthat's the case. That we're the third
selection right now in the MSL,and that's the way it's gonna be.
But the Soccers were the fifth selectionin twenty twenty one and they won the
championship, and they beat the twonumber one seeds that year on the way

(01:35:59):
to the championship, So just keepthat in mind. Playoff dates will be
announced Gabe as soon as we getthem. There's some tentative things, and
as usual, it's all up inthe air. Nothing is official. There's
nothing I'm allowed to announce, andI'm not going to jump out of my
skis. But you know, youcan think where it's probably going to land,
which is the first week April, the second week of April, and

(01:36:19):
probably somewhere around the third and fourthweek April. It'll be there. Yeah,
I mean, I think that's whatwe have to make sure to take
care of is look inwards at thesoccer's organization and build your own castle and
focus on being the best version ofyourself and this team that could possibly be

(01:36:41):
going into those playoffs. And ifyou are that best possible version, again,
the soccer ton could take anybody, anybody right now if executed correctly.
So it has to be from thecoaching, into the play, into the
game, play, into the mentality. Everybody has to be in tip top
magoose shape. Let's wrap it up, Let's put it right there. The

(01:37:02):
wagons have been circled. We heardsome great stuff from Felipe. I got
to rip the league like three times. People seem to enjoy that. I
enjoy it. They do, Imean they really do. It's funny that
way. And then someone will getmad and maybe I'll get a text or
a call down the road. Thedude swung his elbow at the back of

(01:37:24):
her head and the other guy bithim on the shoulder. What do you
