(04:08):
to get to. We're gonna tryto stick to what we have done last
week, which is to keep itto a tight hour here, try to
get out at six o'clock. Noguest once again this week because our players
are officially reporting on Monday, sothey still technically have the time off.
Did I reach out to a few, Yes, of course I did.

(04:29):
I reached out to a few.A lot of our guys are just getting
back, like just got back yesterdayor today from the United Arab Emirates from
the WMF World Cup trip, SoI guess that's a good place as any
to start, Tony, it wasa vacation time in Dubai. I don't

(04:50):
know if you've been following along onInstagram seeing all of the different stories,
whether it was Boris Pardo, whetherit was Charlie Gonzales, the guys from
the Mexican national team, Brene Ortiz. I've just been seeing all of these
incredible reels and pictures of the spectacularsky scraping architecture of Dubai and the United

(05:13):
Arab Emirates and how clean everything isand just now of sparkling. It's really
looked like the boys had a greattime waiting for their flight because they had
planned their flight to win the championshiptip of the cap virtually to Romania,
the WMF World Cup champions for twentytwenty three, but Mexico and US,

(05:34):
as we talked about last week outin the quarters, so it meant a
good solid week of sight seeing andI'm very excited for them and more importantly
happy to have them back. Yeah. No, it's really important, especially
you know, in the professional soccersetting. I don't care if it's indoor,
outdoor, in between doors. Youneed that rest. Rest is absolutely

(05:56):
crucial, especially at this level. But it's also are very cool good to
see that the players for the Sandie soccers are staying match fit. Right,
they wouldn't be involved in a tournamentif they didn't have that pedigree right
now and still maintain it in orderto go and play a tournament. Right
if they got booted out early, you know what, extra rest time.
And then it's really good to seethe players enjoying themselves. And you know,

(06:18):
Monday is coming up, and youknow, just like everybody else,
Mondays are going to hit, andI'm pretty sure the players are excited to
come back here in San Diego andstart this new campaign. And i could
tell you from what I saw inthe remnants of last year. These players
are hungry. Everybody is hungry forthe season. It's maybe something that the
team overall needed. Get some rest, play some games, have some fun,

(06:40):
take some pictures, you know, enjoy yourself. But then it's going
to be go time here in SanDiego for another campaign and hopefully it ends
differently this time around. You know, it's great to see everybody in the
chat Tony joining us here on Twitch, including I miss what's it? Who
missed it last week? And thereit is, mister Brian Farbart. Been

(07:02):
waiting for this for months, justwaiting for the alert on my phone.
Yeah, Brian, I almost calledyou to come on today's show. I
wanted to give the veterans a littlebit of a break. But we will
talk to Brian before the season startsabout what could be a very special first
game for him. Great to seeSusan in the chat as well. Great
to see it's so many of ourregulars and some new fans. I see

(07:23):
some heat fans from across across thecountry as well in Harrisburg joining us.
So all good to see everybody hereand joining us live and once again you
know, we get into that rhythmand that routine of Tuesdays at five means
soccers overtime. Couple of quick housekeepingnotes, bookkeeping notes for the San Diego

(07:45):
Soccers. Tomorrow night is your oneand only chance if you think you've got
what it takes to train with thesoccers, to try and get into a
roster position for the soccers. Nevergoing to be tougher than it is this
year, but one night only,Bradley Park in San Marcos six to nine
pm tomorrow for soccer's tryouts for thetwenty twenty three combine. I almost forgot.

(08:11):
The league doesn't like when we usethe word tryouts. They prefer combine.
So the two tenty twenty three combine. It's at Bradley Park and San
Marcos. Susan asking if spectators willbe allowed, Well, I've just told
you where it is. They aren'tgoing to lock the gates, so I'd
say yes. I'd say absolutely yes. It is open. If you want

(08:33):
to come out and check it out, all be there. Our soccer staff
will be there, Chicky Luna willbe there to evaluate the players. You
know, some of our coaching staffjust got back from the UA. I
don't know if Phil will be thereor Renee, but I'm expecting, you
know, most of the technical staffwill be there. And this is the
one chance for folks to try out. Now what are they trying out for?

(08:54):
As we mentioned last week, TonySoccers two is out this year.
The club reduced their soccers to program, which is, you know, always
a real bummer because it was agreat feeding ground. Obviously for a player
like Irvin Moheka or Luis Perez, they got their opportunity to play there.
They were spotted that allowed them tomove up into the lineup. So that's

(09:18):
not there for the soccers this year. The chance to play in MSL two,
however, the chance to train withthe soccers is really what's up for
grabs in this The opportunity to besigned to a deal where you can come
to practice, where you can bepart of this club's training sessions on a
regular basis. I really think that'swhat you're trying out for this year.

(09:39):
But I'll always hold up a guylike Xavier Snaire Williams, who was somebody
who came to a combine and foundhis way into a position and now has
been part of the first team forwhat'll be his third year coming up this
season, so you know, theopportunity is there, but without Soccers too,
it's much more of a training opportunitycoming up here tomorrow night. Yeah,

(10:03):
And I mean you always want tofind that diamond in the rough,
and I are the odds necessarily inthat favor, not necessarily, but you
never know, right there's a chancethat you see the right people at the
right time and you'll go ahead andbe that person, not saying there isn't
anybody here listening in the chat thatmight not have what it takes, and
if they do, great, thisis the opportunity to go ahead and do

(10:24):
that. But again it's really kindof tapping into that. It's unfortunate where
with Soccers too not being around, because that was a really good vehicle and
a way to not necessarily foreign players, but just make sure that the players
are ready to go in case theyare to be called up. You mentioned
Irvan Mohica finding himself a new club, I mean talking about Pacheco last year

(10:45):
for Soccers too, also having agreat showing there, even getting some minutes
with the main team, and thisis where it all happens. This is
how you start that journey. Ifyou don't have that, if you don't
have that first step, you're nevergonna know. But again, it's going
to be a very opportunity to seewho does come out and interesting to see
what San Diego has to offer inthose regards. Yeah, this is the

(11:07):
toughest team to make in the league, so sometimes it's even to be seen
with an opportunity to maybe get achance to play somewhere else down the road.
Nonetheless, that is coming up.It's tomorrow, and if you do
want to sign up, if you'relistening, or if you know somebody who
wants to sign up, SD soccersdot com, slash combine, SD soccers

(11:28):
dot com slash combine, you canshow up and sign up as well.
Registration opens at five. They willget started at six. I will be
there at six. I will takeas many pictures as I am obligated to.
I might be home by nine. That's just me. Though. You
should stay and play hard all theway to the end if you want to

(11:48):
make the team. I am notgoing to try to make the team.
I have already decided that they haveused me in net on some practices on
the road. Now, mister Sanchezis far more qualified in this respect to
me. Yeah, exactly who's savedShannon McMillan one handed, who's going out
in the loyal pitch and still justdropping one handed flying saves? Yeah,

(12:11):
I mean, who knows? Right, I think I retired from the outdoor
game. I don't think I necessarilyretired from the indoor game. So that's
that's my thought process in there. But no, it's absolutely a great time
in great content now for Sandy Soccer'sfans again, we're seeing it here in
the chat. They've been waiting. It's like finally it's we get the alert
MISTERMSH Farmer as well. But no, it's great to finally start getting those

(12:35):
those machines running and you know thethe lubricant is gonna start coming in and
before we know it, it's gonnabe mid season. I like that.
I like it. Team assembles aswe mentioned Monday, Monday morning first training
training will be mostly at Bradley Parkin alcoholm Once again, it's a public
park. There's no guards stationed,so do you ever want to come out.

(13:01):
It's usually early in the morning,it's usually eight am. It's cold
until the sun starts hitting that field. At around eight forty five nine o'clock.
It's pretty cold around there. Bringa jacket if you ever want to.
We'll have coverage from training week toweek, of course, and once
the players are in they're in therein season housing, so on and so
forth. We'll have a lot greateraccess to get some guys on the show,

(13:26):
and we'll be getting some guys onthe show. Last reminder for now
is that our golf tournament is comingup. Season opener is Sunday, December
third, but Friday, December firstis the Soccers Golf Tournament and it'll be
at Mount Woodson. Once again,it's always an incredible time. The players

(13:50):
will be there, the staff willbe there. It's a nine am shotgun
start. Registration starts at seven thirtyam, and you can find out a
lot more just by simply going tosd soccers dot com slash golf, sdsoccers
dot com slash golf. This year'scharitable partner is the REGINALD J. Phoenix

(14:13):
Scholarship Fund, so it's the youCan Do It Soccer's charity golf Classic coming
up. That is Friday December firstat Mount Woodson. Mount Woodson a course
that just dominates my life every timeI'm there. It was built by a
madman who clearly hates golf or golfers, loves golf golfers. One of these

(14:35):
days we got to get out thereand you'll see me at one of these
soccers golf events. I've never swunga golf club, so I mean we'll
we'll see yet. No, yeah, I've never. I've I've got I've
been to the Califno Sublimit Lounge havinghaving all the facilities there, But I
don't know. It'll it'll be achallenge maybe a golfer for this upcoming season

(14:58):
for myself right good, because Imean, we've seen your teaming athleticism,
oh on the soccer pitch, soI have to assume that some of that
hand eye coordination would lead you tobeing an absolute monster with the clubs.
So I used to play a lotof PGA Tour Tiger Woods for some reason
PlayStation two, So I know themechanics. I know what it should look
like. But am I ready togo? Maybe not yet? Fair enough?

(15:24):
Okay, So those are your housekeepingnotes. Practice opens on Monday.
Tryumphs are tomorrow night six o'clock andgolf tournament Friday, December first. I
will talk a little bit more nextweek about some things such as our photo
day or season ticket member party, which is coming up a couple sundays from
now, but we'll talk more aboutthat next week. All right, Next

(15:46):
up on the Old Show Roster preview. Last week we told you who's in,
who's out, Who's come, who'sgone. Welcome back, Joe Hutt,
good to see you once again.Today, I thought we could go
position by position and just discuss kindof the depth chart for the twenty twenty
three twenty four San Diego Soccers sofar, tony, and of course,

(16:08):
all things always subject to change.Who knows. I don't anticipate the Soccers
making a major trade or acquisition betweennow and December third. I think this
is the team that we've got.But just with that temporary disclaimer out of
the way, start with the forwardposition. So when you look at the
forwards for the San Diego Soccers, very very very familiar grouping, the exact

(16:30):
same three that we've seen the lastthree years. So you're talking about to
Void, Morgan, Craig Chiles,Christian Gutierrez, the one two three for
the Soccers. To VOI kind ofthe primary nine. Gutierrez, that two
way forward, the defender who cancounterattack. Craig Chiles, the master of
the set piece, the master ofthe free kick, the captain of the

(16:51):
team, the all time leading scorer, the legend of the club. So
Chiles, Morgan, Gutierrez stability atthe forward position one. It's again absolutely
you get that diverse play style thatSan Diego is really known to take advantage
of. San Diego is a midfieldstacked team, so if you can really
put anybody up there, the midfieldwill adapt to who they have. And

(17:15):
I mean in Maestro is Craig Chilesis is eternal, he is he is
ever present. You just don't know. He's a He's at Pachanga right now,
like he's His spirit just lives therewith his set pieces. That that
foot of his just absolute magic.I don't think I have to tell anybody
who Craig Child's and what he doeshere, right But Morgan is one that

(17:36):
I'm very interested in seeing this season. There was some games at home where
he was struggling. There was aperiod of time where he wasn't necessarily getting
it done at home. Away itwas Dan central with Tavoy Morgan over and
over again, but that drought reallyseemed to affect him here in San Diego.
For some reason. He did kindof get it back together, but
it's not necessarily the Tavoy Morgan thatwe're used to, And I mean,

(17:57):
what can you say about thing alo. He does a little bit of everything
incredibly well and that's necessary, exactlywhat you need in that offensive position.
So it's great to have that stability. As you say, Craig Well,
I think you pinpointed it. Ifyou're looking at one guy in that group,
it's Ta Voi because he was firstteam All League two seasons ago.
Last year he didn't make an AllLeague team. He had a big step

(18:19):
back in terms of his overall goalproduction. So you're really hoping that that
was a little bit of a blipon the radar screen. To Voi had
a great summer getting the bag atTST as part of Newtown Pride FC.
You know, he had a wonderfulsummer and hopefully it translates into a wonderful
winter. If you were looking atreserves at the forward spot, that's where

(18:42):
things get really interesting for the soccers, because last year that was Irvin Mohica
and then Tony Pacheco, who werethe next two up at the forward position
for San Diego and neither or withthe organization now, Pacheco not with an
MASL team right now, and ofcourse Mohika in Monterey with the Flash.
So if you were to look atwho would be next to move up in

(19:03):
a circumstance where the Padres had pardonme, the Soaker's had an injury preseason
for me too, I just dida two and a half hour Padres earlier
today. I think you'd look firstto Brandon Escoto, and that's someone who
did move up at one point withan injury situation last year, and if
need be, you'd go back toLeonardo after that. Although Leo doesn't want

(19:26):
to play forward, hasn't played forwardfor the last three seasons. But if
you had to in a pinch,I think a Scoto and Lao would be
the next two that you could putout of this twenty person roster up into
that forward spot. Yeah, Ihave to agree there. Just Brandon and
his speed and tenacity up up frontand the midfield more going forward is something

(19:48):
that is really it's apparent when he'snot on the pitch and and once Ascoto
goes in, it's that rocket ofenergy. And yeah, he gets fouled
a lot, and he against Valconstan, but that's part of it. If
you're involved, you're gonna go aheadand have a target on your back.
Leo has been playing absolutely out ofhis mind in the position, and as
long as we want to keep himhappy, and if we keep that production

(20:11):
from Leo in the position that hehas been playing, I don't think it'd
be necessarily the best to try toask him to do something else. Additionally,
because again he's been cemented in thisposition, just free roaming at times
and doing loe things and absolutely showcasinghis Brazilian samba magic. Now you look
to the midfield position, and mygoodness, if this isn't maybe the deepest

(20:34):
group we've ever had with soccers,it's kind of an embarrassment of riches.
And that's even considering the changing ofthe guard with all time greats like Brian
Farber, Eddie Velez, you know, going into now more of a passive
reserve role. Like said, we'lltalk with Forbes down the road in terms
of what we're going to do probablyfor the first game for Brian this year.

(20:56):
But when you think about the guyswho are going to be regulars for
the socckers in the med you startwith Leo Gabriel Costa, the free agent
acquisition from Empire, brandon Aescoto,Charlie Gonzalez, and you could stop there
because most teams would just go,well, we've got four of the best

(21:22):
midfielders in the league. We couldrun in twos and have two of these
four guys on the floor all thetime. The soccers won't do that.
They'll run in threes for the mostpart during games. But I mean that
top four is it's insane. Charliethe fourth guy, and he was the
leading scorer all time, leading scorerfor Ontario, Fury Lao pass Master,

(21:45):
Costa, Newcomer of the Year,Ascoto's been First team All League multiple times,
you know, has been a playoffMVP. Then you get down to
Felipe Gonzales, who had an incredibleyear last year and it's kind of that
veteran two way stability. Luis Perezas a rookie, very impressive last season.

(22:06):
Sean Callahan, who was hurt lastyear for most of the season,
back to be that back line depthin the midfield, and Wan Gonzales another
guy who is there when you needhim to step in and can play defender,
can play midfielder, He really couldplay any of the positions. But
I look at that group and justsay, holy cow, not only are

(22:27):
the soccers ridiculously stacked on the top, but they've got the ability if one
or two guys had to rotate outto still have a super strong unit.
You're not going to be complaining of. Perez and Callahan are the two guys
running as the third guy in pairingson any given game night. And for
me, it's always something that Ialmost think a little too far ahead when

(22:51):
it comes to playoffs and just thattype of area. If everybody's healthy,
then the decision making has to beon point of who gets on the pitch
and went and when they do,who rotates with who, because that's going
to be so important in the beginningstages of the season. It's going to
be what those look that chemistry isgoing to be, who links up with

(23:11):
who. There's gonna be new partnerships. We know the partnerships that some of
these players like to play off eachother. You get Charlie Olasso Escoto on
the same pitch and then Leo pullingthe strings. It's game over, lights
out for most of the time.If they're all firing on all cylinders,
if two are firing on all cylinders, if one is firing on all cylinders,
it's going to be a nightmare forthe opposing team. And it's again

(23:36):
an embarrassment of riches, but it'sgoing to be a very interesting decision when
it comes to who plays when andhow they go ahead and load manage these
players, because again, it's theprofessional game and there's a lot of injuries
that have accrued. Leo had himselfa couple of matches where he wasn't the
best. He might have been pusheda little bit too far in some of

(23:56):
these matches because they needed lel outof them. But now you have options.
Now you have somebody coming off thebench who can give somebody like Leo
arrest and somebody who is going tojust run absolutely bonkers and give him.
They're all so wow, just thatmidfield is just ready. I'm ready to
see exactly what these guys have haveto showcase this season. Yeah, and

(24:22):
I think the thing that excites methe most about this group is, you
know, you've got Charlie who canpass and finish. You've got Brandon who's
a finisher. Of course, he'shad tons of assists in his career as
well. But I think of Costaas being just somebody who's right there with
Leo when it comes to vision, when it comes to being able to get
assists, passing with his left foot, with his right foot, squeaking things

(24:45):
in on tight angles, creating spacefor yourself. Cost is just at a
different level. And he's only init. You know, that was just
his rookie year. He's still growingin to his role in mini football and
in football or rapidos. So Ithink that huge because you know, I
saw, for example, in thechat our man Eddie Trujillo saying Leo has
to stay healthy all year. Imean, absolutely we want Lao to be

(25:07):
healthy all year and be pass master. But if Leo was out last year,
it really felt like a lot ofthe creativity got unplugged from the soccer's
attack. And I think Costa isgoing to allow that to stay plugged in
should that circumstance come around. Sohonestly, I'm over the moon about the
midfield position. It's as good asit's ever been and We've had some great

(25:30):
midfields in soccer's history, but weget to defender and I mean, look,
I know it's the Soccer Show andwe sounds like we're just puffing up
skirts. But holy cow. Soyou've got the returning group of Ceesar Sera,
Mitchell Cardonists Guerrero, Pino, Juan, Manuel Rojo, pie Wee Ortega
right there. We thought the bestfive defenders in the league last year.

(25:55):
And you add to that group DrewRuggles. So now you've got a sort
of Pino Cardon's ruggles, Rojo asthe speed burner. Are you going to
run in threes in all in bothof your defensive positions? Is p we
gonna see some midfield time in situationswhere maybe an injury crops up. There's

(26:17):
a lot of questions. It's youknow that phrase, embarrassment of riches.
Adding ruggles to this group is it'salmost a little bit crazy. It was
almost like adding bogarts to the padresinfield. It's like, whoa, yep,
holy cat, we got another one. And it might be a why
right, like did you really needruggles? And sure, any team needs

(26:37):
ruggles, I don't care who youare, Like that's a player that you
go out for if available and landinghere in San Diego. But then this
kind of creates that dynamic, rightwhere is p were gonna play in midfield?
Is that gonna then push lay upinto the forward category? Then you
can start talking about, uh,those secondary positions. Maybe somebody else steps
up as a forward. But Imean it's to another situation where you can't

(27:02):
really pinpoint a weakness here on andI'm looking at it all these players are
just so offensively gifted and their defendersand that's something that at times you know
it is incredibly necessary. You haveyou mentioned just him and that and that
sideline hugging that wall, going allthe way down. He can do it

(27:22):
on his own. But you cannow pick and choose exactly when you want
to go ahead and do this. And uh, great comment here. Hopefully
power plays will be stronger this year. That's exactly why you have this type
of uh player ready to go onthe go say hey, power play,
let's go, let's take care ofthe business. Let's give him, let's
get a goal in and the powerplay will you get the goal? And

(27:47):
again, I don't see how thisis going to be stopped again we have
to see what the other teams aregoing to look like, how they're going
to go ahead and and coach againstthe soccers because as we saw, nothing
is impossible and Soccer's were punched inthe mouth last last time they were out
playing here at Pachanga. But Imean, it's incredible what is about to

(28:10):
unfold here in this upcoming season. So lastly goalkeeping, No last, but
not least, it's really where wecould have started. You know, the
rock of the franchise is Boris Pardo, and Boris Pardo was back for an
age thirty nine to forty season andXavier Snaire Williams will back him up once
again. I saw Susan asking inthe chat that he's not listed on the

(28:30):
roster. I can tell you Xavieris going to be on the team unless
something crazy has changed between now andwhen I was given a roster, a
certain roster to write about a coupleof weeks ago, that Xavier will be
on the team. So no changethere, Parto and the X man in
the net, which leads me tobriefly, the biggest questions for the roster

(28:52):
this year, And you know,we talked about a couple of these obviously
at forward. I'm thinking about health, keeping this group healthy, keeping Child's
healthy for the year. Gutierrez,I don't think there's anyone on this team
that does exactly what Christian does interms of the combination of speed, size,

(29:15):
strength, shot blocking, the abilityto run on counter, the ability
to shoot hard, you know,a defensive forward. I don't think either
to Voi or Craig is necessarily ratedas a defensive forward. So Christian remains
one of the most important players onthis team. You know, I remember
when he sprained his ankle a coupleof years ago and came back to play

(29:36):
the next game. He's been kindof a ridiculous workhorse, always in the
best fitness level on the team.So I'm not really worried about it.
I just think health at forward isgoing to be important. I think playing
time in the midfield and the decisionsthat the roster, decisions that are made
in terms of how people play andwho plays where is going to be very

(29:57):
very interesting. Who are the parentthat Phil Sivaggio trusts early on? You
know, for example, is Leogonna run with Brandon or is he going
to run with Costa? Is Costagonna run instead with Charlie, Like,
how are those pairings going to work? They've got a couple of weeks of
training to see things, but theywon't know on opening night, So it's

(30:18):
gonna take some time to figure thatout and to kind of sort the playing
time. It can Felipe be asas valuable as a third forward. Are
they going to run in twos withan alternate every fifth shift or they're going
to run in straight threes? Well, that's taking down the minutes of guys
like Charlie and Leo and Costa. If you run in straight threes likewise,

(30:41):
for a defender, right, normallyyou see Cerda and Pino or pardon me,
cardin Is and Pino, and that'syour on ball defending tandem and they
run in twos thirty minutes each. The other side, you'd assume would be
Surda Ruggles Roho. Last year wasSurda Rojo peewee. So when does pee
wee get in to the game? You know, these are the questions,

(31:02):
tough questions that the coaching staff willhave to answer, but they're good questions
to have to answer. And thenthe obvious last one to me is goalkeeper
workload. And you know, I'vespent enough years going I'm worried, you
know, is this going to bethe year? You know, Boris has
just been such a stud and astar for this team, and he has
shown up to play all the minutes, you know, two of the last

(31:25):
three years, and I'm sure he'sready to play all of the minutes again
this year. If there's one sportthat has allowed goalkeepers to play at a
high level to an advanced age,it is absolutely the sport of indoors soccer.
From slow Oleski to Danny Waltman toto you know where, I could

(31:45):
go through the list, to BorisPardo, so Defanzella as well, and
to Partos. So the question I'llask is is this gonna be the year
that we see something to load maintenanceat the keeper position? Last year,
the only time X started was thegame after they clinched the shield. Is

(32:10):
it going to be a situation wherethis time those road back to backs X
gets one of those games, youknow, the Saturday in Seattle Sunday against
Seattle this situation or Saturday in DallasSunday home against Empire, which comes up
early in the year. Are thosegoing to be one? Are one of
those games going to be given toXavier in his third season, It's going

(32:32):
to be very interesting how his trustlevel early in the year kind of coalesces
with the coaches. Thoughts, Yeah, and then you've had x here for
a couple of years now, andyou know he played soccers two as well,
And to be completely honest that thetime that he gets in the first
team is incredibly valuable for his development, because if he doesn't get those reps

(32:54):
with the first team in real timeminutes, then you can't really expect him
to be ready when whenever you doneed them. So I think if early
on you set these the precedents inthe seasons and say, hey, we're
gonna give x a couple more games, let's go ahead and give them some
minutes here in important times, becausewhat ends up happening is Boris Partos just

(33:15):
so amazing and and it's an anomalyof a of a human being in a
goalkeeping position, uh to be ableto do what he does at his age
and so well that he ended upbailing out the soccers at times where it
seemed like the soccers needed to reallyfind that Again, I was mentioning the
chemistry and and find themselves in theplay style and and really get things going

(33:37):
and get match fit, because yeah, they can just turn it on sometimes
and say, Okay, we're goingto decide to win this game, but
they're not figuring themselves out yet. When you go ahead and decide just to
go on pure talent, sure youcan win those games. But when it
comes to it and the teams andthe playoffs are nice and polished and ready
to go, you also need tobe polished and ready to go. So

(33:59):
it's gonna be interesting to see ifBoris is gonna be able to take that
step back as well, because that'sthat's part of it. That itself is
a skill, right, knowing whento take that step back, and and
and it's it's difficult because if hecan do it, why not. But
on the other side, then you'restifling the development of of of X in

(34:21):
a way where because there's no soccerstoo, then there's no real time game
minutes being played there. And honestly, unless there's a crazy need to have
him break some sort of minutes recordor games consecutive record, then I don't
see him boris part of necessarily needingto take every single minute every single game.

(34:43):
Let X grow a little bit.But again, that's why there's coaches
who get paid to do this,Craig, so we can always speculate,
and and I really hope that thatis the best for everybody. And if
X steps up, then great,And if Boris is able to just keep
being that absolute iron man, thenhere for it too. Look, all
I can say is that four yearsago, Boris Parter was backed up by

(35:06):
Chewie Molina near the end of hiscareer, and I think I spent the
whole season saying, they need togive Boris a couple more games off,
They need to be careful, theyneed to make sure that they don't burn
this guy out. Two years ago, when it was Ex's rookie season and
he had never played indoors and hehad just come from a combine to be
on the team and there was noveteran backup, I was saying the same

(35:27):
thing, like, you know what'sgonna happen. What's gonna happen if Boris
gets hurt. You know what's gonnahappen if something you know happens to Boris.
And I can just tell you onething, Tony, nobody hates me
saying this stuff more than Boris parto, like he just wants to play every
game, every minute. He doesn'tthink of things that way. He doesn't

(35:49):
think about injury, doesn't think aboutworkload, he doesn't think about fatigue.
At least he hasn't throughout his soccer'stenure. It's always been like, dude,
shut up all play like you know, this is my you're trying to
give away my position, Like thisis my position, and I get it.
This is you know, Boris,at some point we'll stop being the
soccers keeper and he'll retire and thenhe'll be done playing sports. So you
know, in a league like this, you want to play as long as

(36:12):
you can, as much as youcan, because especially seecause he's still the
best keeper in the league, youknow, one of the best keepers in
the world. So again, I'mnot trying to retire you, Boris.
I'm not trying to clip your wingsin any way. I just want to
make sure that in the playoffs,in the playoffs, he's one hundred percent
fit as a fiddle, fresh asa daisy, ready to go, because

(36:36):
I want another ring man, likethis team needs to win the ring this
year. I can't even believe thecollection of talent that the soccers have,
they came up one step short lastyear. This is the year to get
it back. Yeah. Absolutely,And again it's no slide on Boris at
all, like, no, no, please, it's your job. You're
going to keep it. But again, we want to make sure that it's

(36:58):
the for the for the greater good. And if that means getting some games
back, sure, If it doesn't, sure, you know what he's earned.
Whatever is going to happen. AndI think at the end of the
day, it's just a matter ofof well, like you said, the
best position that the soccers have putthemselves to be healthy at the end of
the season to get that ring.I was part of the soccers last season,

(37:19):
Craig. I'm pretty upset that theydidn't. He didn't get a ring.
I know, I'm so sorry. But you were there. You called
the goal, you saw it,Popper went into the net. I mean
you had to announce it just likeme. Yep, Lass, but with
one of these just faces of ohgo Lass, oh my god, yeah,

(37:45):
oh man, Susan says in thechat Shield is nice, but Cup
is better. And it's true.I mean, it's true. The soccers
always want to win the Shield becausethat means that the playoffs run through your
home. But didn't work lass latyear, you know. I mean,
I think we all believe it's goingto come down to Soccer's and Chihuaba in
the West again. I'm sure Empireand others. Tacoma would like to disagree

(38:08):
and put their hands up. Texaswould like to disagree put their hands up.
But I think it's going to comedown to these clubs. And yeah,
I agree with the guy with RPG. I agree with Furker. A
ship would be nice. The shipwould be very very nice. Okay,
let's jamp through the promotional schedule. We alluded to it last week. I

(38:30):
said I would go through it indetail this week. So the details are
fourth coming. Here we go.Opening night, Sunday, December third schedule
T shirt night. This will haveon the front the Farewell to the Grand
Old Arena logo, and on theback it'll have our home schedule. It'll
have this schedule right here, soif you ever need if you've forgotten the

(38:52):
schedule and you're wearing the shirt, you just come up to somebody and you
turn around and you say, canyou tell me what's the next game on
the schedule. It's social t shirtslike that as well. My schedule's on
the back. I can't see it. Don't crane in front of a mirror.
Ask a friend. So schedule Tshirt Night Sunday, December third,

(39:13):
two weeks later, first visit betweenPaul Wright's Empire Strikers. This is our
third ever sock toss night at PachangaArena. So we are once again going
to ask folks to bring a newpair of socks or underwear, or if
you want to bring a whole twelvepack of socks, it's cool. Ball

(39:36):
them up, you know, getthem balled up. Don't have just loose
socks. They don't throw very well. Ball them up. Be smart,
and then when the soccers throw, score, they won't throw. When the
soccers score their first goal of thenight, you will throw the socks and
underwear. Chuck the chonies, tossthe socks out onto the floor. Our

(39:59):
soccer squad and interns will collect themand they will go to Crisis House.
So charitable donation, incredible night. We've done this for three years. Yes,
we will let them. Let theother team know, don't necessarily throw
them at the opposing goalkeeper or players. But it will be sock toss night
and also will be giving away thatnight a soccer's clear bag, the kind

(40:22):
of clear bag that you need totake into the arena and into other stadia
and arenas. So a great giveawaythere for the soccers. And I'll just
say one more time, make anote that that is a Sunday, but
it's a six o'clock start because theteam is flying from Texas that day,
Saturday, December thirtieth, that isa seven oh five start, And that
is one of our most popular yearlypromotions. It is team poster Night combined

(40:46):
with a postgame autograph session. Asa reminder, season ticket members get to
go to the front of the linefor our post match autograph session. You
get a season ticket member card withyour membership. That card gets you to
the front of the line, soyou are not waiting a half hour forty
five minutes to get to all ofyour favorite players to get your photos and

(41:07):
to get your autographs. So anothergreat advantage of being a season ticket member.
But that is Saturday, December thirtieth, switching to twenty twenty four Sunday,
January seventh, Texas Outlaws in town, and that is the annual media
game. You know. I toldthem to pay to put media game,

(41:27):
and they insist on writing celebrity game. Okay, which is fine, it's
fine, it's fine, But likeI don't know, all right, Host
of American Idol won't be there.Look, Cabana Boy Jeff is a celebrity
in his own right on the onthat hollowed grounds of Sports Arena, Pachanga

(41:50):
Arena. It is a treat. It is worth ticket of admission just to
see him play. And that's that'sfrom the not so a humble person that
has been involved in this matchup.I'm wearing the jersey from from which one
is this one? Last year's jersey? I have the year before that,
and I'm training and I think that'sgonna be my training regimen. Craig is

(42:14):
running up and down those stairs justto mess. I make it up and
get that conditioning. Whatever happens onthe pitch is what's gonna happen on the
pitch. But I need to getback into the booth, so I'll make
sure to do that. If I'mallowed to play, yes, oh you're
allowed to play. I once playedin a year that I was announcing.
I was terrible. I shouldn't havedone it. It was a terrible idea,

(42:38):
but I did do that. I'mvery excited to get out there again.
Is it online because I'll find Yes, we're in the street. I'll
stay up there and I'll announce thegame like usually I go like take a
walk during halftime. But for you, for you, maybe Chieva can come

(42:59):
too, Maybee and I will announcethe game that night. Chiva has a
undetta against scoring against me because hethought he had lost his chance to ever
score on me in Pachang Arena. This now being the last one more season,
I think he is out for vengeance. So we'll see, we'll see.

(43:19):
I've actually got an idea to getChieva involved in the broadcast, by
the way, ask me about thatlater. Yeah. Hey, okay,
Moving on Sunday, January fourteenth,First thing I want to say, it's
Savage night, Okay, Chihuahua intown. We got to get serious.
This is where we got to getbig time serious. It's kick cancer Night.
We're gonna have a lot of localcharitable groups you know, involved with

(43:43):
cancer out from American Cancer Society,et cetera, et cetera, so on
and so forth out on the concourse. You know, more details to come
on that. But the giveaway thatnight is a very I have even seen
the mock up for it. It'sa very dashing soccer's belt bag. Now,
when I was a kid growing up, they were called fanny packs,

(44:07):
and that used to be a thing, like you know, but these days,
when you see them, like youknow, the Louis Viaton ones that
the NBA players will bring into agame, they are belt bags, although
some will call them man purses ormerses after. But that's what we're talking

(44:30):
about, a very fashionable soccer's beltbag slash fanny pack slash merse that will
be available for you. I likethis cause yeah yeah, I still call
it a fanny pack, but nonethelessone of those available for you. Sunday,
January fourteenth, Saturday, January twentyseventh, very special night every year,

(44:52):
yearly tradition, Alumni Night, rightin the halfway point of the season.
Alumni Night, Annual Alumni halftime game. Everybody out and again if you
missed it last week, we didannounce every one of our matches twelve matches
in the regular season, twelve championshipsthe Soccers have won with the Sports Arena
as their primary home. Every singletime. We will have a first kick

(45:15):
celebrating chronologically those twelve championships for theSoccers. But it all comes together on
January twenty seventh for Alumni Night Thursday, February fifteenth. I'm starting to get
more and more excited for this night. It's our only midweek night game home
game of the season, Tony,It's San Diego Sports Night, free parking

(45:35):
that night. The Soccers will debuttheir third kit that night. Season ticket
members will see it first. Acouple of sundays from now, we'll reveal
it the following Tuesday here on theshow. Everyone is going to love this
I guarantee you everyone is going tolove this kit. But we are already
talking to our local soccer clubs, our local San Diego Pro sports teams to
make this a big night. Ourfriends at STFC have indicated that they would

(45:58):
love to be a part of thiswave as well. So definitely excited for
a night to celebrate our local SanDiego sports clubs. When the Texas Outlaws
come to town. Sunday, Februarytwenty fifth is the Comets and it's contr
not. I think they're going todo like line dancing on the floor and
all of this. But also they'regoing to have a Soccer's branded cowboy hat.

(46:22):
All right, Cowboy cowboys going tobe excited. Cowboys. Salazar will
be very, very excited. Andyou know, I guess we'll have our
cowboy hats as well. We canwear them on the air, and you
know, our stirrups and bolo tie. I mean, I would have to

(46:44):
buy all of these things. Iwant to be clear, really, I
don't have a cowboy hat. Idon't have cowboy booths. I don't have
stirrups. I certainly don't have chaps, at least none that I'm willing to
tell you about on this show.Hey, and Soccer's overtime after Dark love
it? Oh yeah, my onlySoccers account. I'll we'll let you know

(47:08):
about that. So anyways, CountryNight on Sunday said, then we get
to March. Another one of ourvery most popular nights every year, Friday,
March first is Star Wars Night. Will reveal those upcoming kits on the
show live on a later day,so stay tuned for that. But we'll

(47:30):
also, like we did last yeargive away glowing Bam Bam sticks, so
Bam Bam sticks that light up inthe darkened arena. It looks absolutely awesome
when we did that last year. It's going to be so much fun.
Strikers in down and that's part ofa gigantic, gigantic weekend for the soccers
because Sunday Savage come for the secondand final time for a five o'clock start.

(47:52):
It's Military Appreciation Night and a militarythemed soccer's hat will be the giveaway,
so a free cap. On Sunday, March third. The club will
be in red, white and blueinspired military kits, less camouflage and more

(48:12):
of a USV. Mexico type feelto this one seeing as the Savage are
in town, so that's gonna bea lot of fun. And as we
usually do, those kits will beauctioned off to benefit military charity, so
two nights to get some great kids. The Star Wars kits will be available
for sale in the merch stand. The military appreciation kits will as well,

(48:34):
but also you can get the gameused ones, So stay tuned for that.
Sunday, March tenth, Hispanic HeritageNight with the Strikers in Town.
For the final time, and that'sgonna be a great giveaway. It's the
Soccers summer scarf. Every year wegive away a summer scarf. I've seen
the design. Will show it toyou later in the year, but it's
terrific. It's going to be oneof, if not the giveaway of the

(48:55):
year. And that is Sunday,March tenth, and we wrap up,
of course Saturday, March thirtieth.Soccers themed playing cards, actual fifty two
card deck that you could use,but with Soccers on it. I assume,
like the King of Spades will beChild's or something. I don't even
know. I'm literally assuming, butMike, are there going to be old

(49:17):
players? Is it just going tobe the twenty guys in rotation or are
we going to have fifty two Soccers? I don't know any of these questionss
Nonetheless, and that is fan AppreciationNight, That is closing night. That
is when we are going to doour ceremony to officially close the soccer's time
at Pachanga Arena. Understanding that therewill be playoff games to follow, but

(49:37):
we weren't going to put some ceremonyat the end of a playoff game,
so that will be closing night. So there it is the promotional schedule.
If there's one thing that you're lookingto grab Tony as a staff member to
get the free merge, what's thething you're looking forward to getting the most.

(49:58):
I'm really curious about that belt bag, Like I see the functionality in
it, and I really want togo ahead and and and and try that
on. The cowboy hat intrigues me. It's very very very interesting how that
may look, how that may feel, how the shape of it have to
you know kind of you know, break it in a little bit with the

(50:21):
noggin. But I mean, I'mactually really excited for the playing cards.
I'm curious to see who's gonna bewho, Like, how are they going
to figure this out? And andwhy is Craig the joker in it?
Like that Eddie Velez should be thejoker. I think that would be absolutely
perfect. Yeah, it's a it'sa great promotional schedule. I see a

(50:43):
lot of cool folks asking Joe hadasked any autograph nights. Well, the
team poster night in December is anautograph night, and also Fan Appreciation Night
is also always a postgame autograph night, so we'll have at least two during
the regular season, and those arethe two ones. Yeah, I agree,
hell of a promo schedule. Greatjob, soccers. I'm very excited.

(51:07):
All right, we're trying to keepit to a key tight hour.
We're probably gonna just miss uh right. But now it's the Now, it's
time for the scuttle butt. Nowit's time for the thing that probably you've
been waiting for a little bit.But maybe you haven't heard this. Maybe
y'all haven't heard this yet, inwhich case I am now breaking news.
Do do do? Do? Do? Breaking news? I'm just reading do

(51:30):
you perfect? Frank tay You isno longer an Empire striker. Wow?
What? Frank Tayu has been tradedto Utica City FC. About as far
as you can go. Done theKing, the four time MVP, Frank

(51:58):
Tayu, the league's all time leadingscorer, the first player to get four
hundred points in the MASL. FrankTayu is now forward for Utica CITYFC.
He is a member of the City. The Strikers sent out a press release
earlier today. I'm just pulling itup on my soccer's email announcing the trade.

(52:21):
It is Frank tay and this isa trade, This is not a
signing. Frank Tayu traded to Utica. In exchange, the Strikers received defender
Stefan Miyatovic and midfielder Quentin Swift. So Miatovic now a striker, Swift a
striker. Taiu is a member ofcity. And as some folks were mentioning

(52:45):
in chat, we already mentioned lastweek, Uzi Tayu is signed in Texas.
So it does appear that the Tayubrothers will be separated for only the
second time in their indoor soccer career. There was one year when I believe
it was Uzzi in Baltimore and itwas Frank down in Sonora. But Miyatovic.

(53:08):
But I see, you know,Empire Micah win list this year.
I disagree. I disagree, justright off the top. I disagree with
that Stephan mi Atovic when he cameto Utica last year. That team went
from down and out to all theway into the playoffs to a knockout game

(53:29):
at home with a chance to makeit to the final. And Baltimore,
you know, squeaked past them toget to the final. But Utica was
this close to making the final andthe biggest thing that changed for that team
was at mid season Stephan Miyatovic cameto the team. He's got a powerful
shot from the outside. He isa physical defender. He is someone who's

(53:50):
got a little bit of speed. He is a player with a lot of
bite to him. You might rememberwhen he ripped out someone's dread last year
in a game and got suspended.I mean, I'm not advocating that or
saying that that was good behavior onhis part. Nonetheless, yeah, was
it Dru's dreads? I hope not. But he's a good player. Quentin

(54:14):
Swift, I don't think has beena star in Utica. He is a
younger player, twenty eight years old. Miyatovic twenty seven years old. The
Strikers made the point of noting theirage in the first paragraph of their release
today. This after Paul Wright hada story on MASL Soccer earlier this week

(54:35):
saying how he wanted the team toget younger, even at maybe the expense
of some established players, and clearlyhe was talking about Frank Tayu. I'll
talk a little bit more about theEmpire press release in just a moment,
but first, Tony, just yourthoughts on a guy who has been an
absolute pain in the butt for thesoccer since he came in the league in

(54:58):
twenty fourteen. To be out ofconf ers for the first time and over
to Utica, Yeah, so thisis huge, right, So it's it's
mostly you know, the competition washeavy and Empire Strikers was the one team
that really put that shock into soccersof like, wait, is this not
the soccers that we were used tobecause they should be winning this game.

(55:19):
And then you know, Frank wasreally a key part in that, and
just the presence of him not beingan Empire is going to be huge now
in Utica, now on the EastCoast, now in that conference. It's
going to be incredibly relieving, Iassume for a lot of the defenders here
in San Diego, because you know, as you were mentioning, one player

(55:42):
really makes a difference here because it'snot necessarily like eleven v. Eleven where
you need a unit. One playercan really be a game changer, and
you really see that throughout where ifyou have a player who's a disruptor just
I mean, look, amassing fourhundred and eighty eight points in one hundred
and eighty one games is not asmall task. And this is they label

(56:02):
him the King for a reason. It's not just a throwaway nickname or a
name. It's a fantastic signing foryou, Deic, and I believe that
they're gonna go ahead and be veryhappy with what they got last season,
the amass the thirty eight points insixteen assist with a total of fifty four
points. But I think that, you know what, it's a net positive.

(56:25):
This Empire Strikers is in a superrebuild mode, so they're a giant
question mark. So it is goingto be really beneficial for them to get
rid of Tayu. Perhaps we'll seewhat the end product is, what the
vision is for Empire Strikers moving forward, But you know what it's it's a
It's definitely a relief to be adefender in the West Coast. And I

(56:45):
have to deal with Frank Tayu. You know, if I was gonna go
last year and say, okay,Empire Strikers rate the roster, give him
a top five, I would havesaid, Chris Toth number one. I
would have said to the newcomber numbertwo, just so electric. He had
changed the game by coming in Franknumber three, you know, obviously still

(57:08):
the leading scorer, is still thetarget forward. Robert Palmer their defensive heart
number four, and Justin Stintson. There's slithery midfielder number five. Well,
numbers one, two and three aregone. Chris Toth is on Tacoma now,
Gabriel Costa is a soccer and FrankTayu is with UCFC. So they

(57:30):
are changing things in Empire. Youknow, it started with putting Jimmy Nordberg
up into the front office, havingPaul Wright named head coach, Paul Doherty,
another soccer's legend named assistant coach. They've signed a ton of players from
the combine, you know. Nowthey make this trade and they bring in

(57:51):
two other players that they're noting theage in Miyatovic and Swift. So clearly
Paul, who runs a company calledSpeed to Burn and as a speed fitness
coach, he wants a team that'sgoing to be young, that's going to
be fast, that's going to beunder his control, under his guidance,
his leadership. You know, Ithink about a kid and I'll tell you

(58:14):
right now he's on my radar forthis year for Empire. Abdul Monsterray abdul
Monterray was beating the soccers in speedrushes two years ago as a raw rookie
in the finals, like flying upthe floor and scoring a goal in the
knockout game. And I think thatit's going to be a completely completely different

(58:36):
look in Empire, and whether theyare ultimately successful, we will wait and
see whether at the end of theyear they have developed themselves into something that
is extremely potent and dangerous. Let'swait to see, because you know,
in general, I would say talentwins out. And when you take Chris
Toth and Gabriel Costa and Frank Tayuand take them off a team, that

(59:00):
team seems less dangerous to me,just logically, it seems less dangerous to
me. But that kind of bringsme back to the press release because I
kind of felt like there was ashot fired in here. And I'm just
gonna quote for you this is theStrikers. I want to make sure and

(59:21):
I'm clear, this is the Strikerspress release. So they first announced the
trade, they announced the ages, they talk about their schedule, then they
do two paragraphs on the Yetovic, then they do two paragraphs on Swift.
This is what they wrote about Tayu, one of the most prolific goal scorers
in the history of the MSL.Frank Tayu exits the Inland Empire after averaging

(59:44):
nearly two tallies per game since hisarrival prior to twenty nineteen twenty twenty,
The thirty three year old, whohas laced up for a number of indoor
and outdoor teams, has been crownedMASL MVP and named to the All MAASL
First Team on several occasions. Wejust had a PR conference call with the

(01:00:07):
MHL a couple of days ago,and I was pretty quiet there, and
I know I'm mostly noisy on myown show. And look, you know,
much respect to the folks at Empiretrying to do a job. That
is not the way to write apress release. That is not a way
to write about the all time leadingscorer in the league. You don't say
he's won several couples, he's afour time m ASL MVP who has scored

(01:00:32):
four hundred and eighty eight points. You put the numbers in the release.
You don't say, well, hedid some things. Sometimes that's that's disrespectful
to any professional, no matter whatyou know what if it was a kid
we're gonna talk about in a minute, Jason Payin, and he scored three

(01:00:52):
points in his MSL career. Youwrite that in the release. Yeah,
well he was he played a fewgames and did pretty good. Yeah,
is the level of professionalism that thatis and that's not good enough? So
okay, time out over. Sorry, you're good, You're good. It
makes sense. It makes sense. They know exactly what the numbers are.
They just want to just downplay itwhere it's incredibly unnecessary to do. So

(01:01:15):
that really bothered me for Frank. You know, Frank's been a rival of
this club for a decade. Frank'sbeen a thorn in our side. Frank
literally eliminated the soccers like in fourdifferent semi finals along the way. He
hasn't lately. He might not bewhat he was when he was twenty seven,

(01:01:36):
he's still one of the greatest playersin the league. And you should
put respect on his name when youtrade him. When you trade him,
you should put respect on his name. But that's not where the press release
stopped. It then went to aJimmy Nordberg quote. Jimmy, who is
now the executive vice president and firsthe started with a quote that just should

(01:01:59):
have ended the release. Frank wasa key part of our offense during his
four seasons with the club. Weare grateful for his contributions and wish him
all the best going forward. Done, done and dusted. That's still a
little bit of a shot because itjust says he contributed to our offense.
It's like, you know, that'sall. Did I get it? I
get it. He's not a defensiveplayer. Yeah, I get that.

(01:02:22):
He is the all time leading goalscorer and points score, but he's not
a defensive player. You know,James Harden isn't praised for his defense either.
N be it, But listen tothis, okay. Quoting from the
press release, Nordberg continued, quote, The decision to bring in Stephan Miatovich

(01:02:42):
and Quentin Swift at the expense ofsuch a household name has been very much
strategic. As we continue to overhaulour roster, it's crucial that we add
players who can make a positive impactboth on the turf and in the locker
room. Stefan and went and havenot only shown impressive athleticism and in game
intelligence, they're also the kind ofguys that others want to be around and

(01:03:07):
fight for. We can't wait tosee how they integrate into the team.
Who are they trying to convince theshots fired? What why they there?
Seems like it's trying to convince themselvesand justify trading a household name in order
to whatever their mission is now fromhere on now. But that's that's one

(01:03:32):
press relig that was all in onepress release, Like how how is there?
I would describe that as bussing FrankTayeu, meaning tossing him under the
bus. You know, we wantplayers that other guys are going to want
to fight for. Yeah, youknow, this was a strategic decision to
get rid of Frank Tyu. Andand you know, I saw people writing

(01:03:54):
in our chat, Oh they'll bebetter off with that Tayu, you know,
or it'll be additioned by subtraction toget rid of Talue. And and
look, the stats will tell thestory at the end of the year.
If the if the Strikers are themost dangerous team in the league, if
they are the team that is givingeverybody trouble in the league, and if
Utica weighs down, you know, and and Frank doesn't help them, that's

(01:04:17):
okay. You know, then you'vemade your point. But I think you
need to make your point on thefield, I really do, and I
thought that that was Look, Ijust think it's a cheap shot. You're
You're the guys who signed Frank Tayuand re signed him, so like,
if you didn't like that, youdidn't need to re sign him last year
you did so, like I justlook, I write press releases like I

(01:04:44):
actually do that. I write thepress releases for this team. And if
we had a guy who was anabsolute flip and malcontent, the only way
I would put such a quote inis if I was literally commanded to by
my owner or by my boss, and then I would tell them how wrong
they were. Privately, I wouldtell them how wrong they were to do

(01:05:04):
that. And that is not tothe level of a classy organization, you
know. So I wish Empire allthe best. No, I don't there
a rival. I want to beatthem every single time. What am I
talking about? I mean I wantto go six and zero against them again.
Yeah, yeah, i'ven't wanted theworst, you know, But you

(01:05:26):
know, I just I'm a bigfan of Paul. Obviously, I've known
Paul for you know all of myprofessional indoor life. He was on the
first team I covered. I've knownPaul Doherty for for several years as well.
You know, I know a lotof the people up there, and
not Frankly. I've known Frank formany years, and I've traveled with Frank.
I was in Australia with Frank andUZI. Did I leave that trip

(01:05:47):
saying that I wanted the Soccers togo sign Frank and UZI? No,
but Empire did and here we are. I just, you know, think
fell apart in an Empire for Frankand for Uzi and I just I don't
think Jimmy Nordberg needs to put thatquote in there, or that the Strikers

(01:06:11):
need to put that quote in there. And you know, as as Fozzy
says in the text, I mean, I do appreciate the new direction the
organization is going. I do thinkthey probably needed to go in a different
direction. I don't think you neededto put that quote in the press release.
It makes you look really insecure.Yeah, at the expense of one
of the greatest players that ever gracedyour your franchise. Yeah, it's yeah,

(01:06:34):
it's it's incredible that it happened. And by the way, they don't
meet each other in the schedule nextyear, so you know, it's like
really easy, really easy work tobe like, oh, you know,
tweak his nose and then like, well, what are you going to do?
Any who? I just got morerespect for the King than that.

(01:06:58):
People brought up King's Cup in thein the chat like I was, you
know, I volunteered for Frank atKing's Cup. I went up to upland
to be a part of that becausehe asked me to. He cares about
the game, like Frank tell you, cares about the game of indoor deeply.
Whatever I've thought of him as aplayer or a teammate or whatever,
like he's never been on our team. I just respect him a lot more

(01:07:23):
than Empire clearly did. So bummerthere. Hey, yep, big shout
out to another old friend who's onthe move. Jason Payne ex of Soccers
Too, announced today on his Instagramthat he has signed in Saint Louis and
I'll be a member of the Ambush. He'll be back on January twenty seventh
here when the Ambush come to town. Jason one of those great guys.

(01:07:45):
Honestly, John Green is crying rightnow, our director of community because whenever
he needed a soccer to show upfor a community appearance, man Jason Payne
and Xavier Snaire Williams were his twoone two go to guy and they would
be there every single time. Jasonis just an amazing dude, and you
know, real talk, he wasnever going to get a chance to play

(01:08:09):
a regular shift for the Soccers,So getting a chance to play outs in
the league, I'm really happy tosee that. I've kind of always wanted
to see that the guys who wereconstant training players in San Diego to get
a chance to play somewhere else.So big ups to Jason Paine. I
hope he has a great year.I hope he's super successful. January twenty
seventh, maybe partially excluded, andyou know, just really cool to see

(01:08:31):
somebody kind of break out of thatmold of look, I'm just working in
San Diego, and I'll train withthe team and I'll just be cool with
that. Soccers two is gone andhe goes on and applies his trade in
the bigs. So big ups toJason, bombing that some of our depth
is going out the door. Oneof my favorite calls for soccers. Two
was when he would score, especiallyagainst There was a game with against Turlock

(01:08:55):
and their train themed. I guessColex Press, but I would say that
everybody's experiencing the pain train right now, and you know, just one of
those things where I'm like, man, I can't wait for him to be
a soccer's mainstay, to go aheadand take that to the big leagues.
But the pain trains has taken offfor Saint Louis, so shout out to

(01:09:19):
him. Unfortunately, pain train willnot be used in Saint Louis because they
have Joey's Anna Bony as their announcer, so it'll be something about a taxidermist
and a red lobster and a greasmachine and a freaking dolphin or something.
I mean, did I see thatthey finished first in the West and then

(01:09:39):
got bounced in the first round ofNLS Cup Saint Louis, Yes against Casey
l O l Z is what Ihave to say about that. Okay,
last things last, but best thinglast. We did not make the tide

(01:09:59):
hour today. Nonetheless, you're goingto enjoy this, I guarantee, so
as you know, one of thethings or as you may or may not
know, since I've been back forthe last few weeks, I'm back on
our soccer's social media, you know, which means that I'm popping open the
AX, I'm popping open the Instagram, I'm checking on making sure what's going
on. And today our buddy TravisPeterson. I gotta shout out to him

(01:10:20):
because I would not have seen thisparticular clip on X but Travis had responded
to it and said, hey,I'll give you a ticket to a soccer's
match. But this is the Ithink four year old son of a very
loyal family that supported San Diego Loyal, and this kid absolutely loved the Loyal.

(01:10:44):
His name is Anakin, and eversince the Loyal lost in the playoffs
a couple Sundays back, he's beencrying every day about the Loyal being gone.
So I saw this video today onX what one of the nice school
is like, God, yo tothem. You can still love them and

(01:11:13):
we can still follow them, andthey're not all gone yet. I know
some people are still seeing some ofthem around town. Maybe we'll see one
of them around town soon. Wouldthat make you happy? Probably not?
Probably, We'll do our best,Okay to light, we'll do our best.

(01:11:45):
Okay, what to see you?Oh, I know we'll find we'll
see them play soon. Okay, there's no games right now anyway. I
love you so oh man like that, I love you at the end.

(01:12:09):
Just okay. So Matt Hanan Hannonhis son Anakin. So I saw that
and right away I just wrote backfrom the soccer's team account. I didn't
even talk to Bowers or to Spencersand Ore and tickets. I'm just like,

(01:12:30):
I'd like to invite all of youout to the home opener as our
guest. Uh, you know, come out and hopefully put a smile on
Anakin's face. Anything to get asmile back on Anakin's face. So since
then, we have DMed back andforth on Elon Musk's healthscape known as X
and uh this is this is confirmedand it's locked in. So Anakin is

(01:12:54):
coming to the season opener on Decemberthird, the whole Hanan family, Hainan
Hannan. Sorry, I don't know, I apologize. I'll find out before
the opener. You will all bethere as guests of the Soccers. We
are so thrilled to have you there. And you know, there's so many
people Tony who fell in love withLoyle for the last four years and loved

(01:13:15):
that club and didn't love an outdoorclub before, didn't really love a soccer
club before. And look, Anakinis young enough that I can excuse him
for not knowing the history of SanDiego soccer and that the soccers have been
around the longest and one of themost. But I'd like to convert as
many young fans as possible. Youknow, we're not grave jumping here.

(01:13:36):
It's a matter of loyal are They'renot. I'm so sorry, Anakin.
The loyal are not coming back. They're not. They're not coming back.
But we are here, and we'relocal and we're independent, and we're so
excited. So I'm just really excitedto have Matt and Anakin and the whole
a non family out with us onDecember third, and I just wanted to

(01:14:00):
share that. And yeah, Chemoasking will Anakin be there for Star Wars
Night. I do believe he willbring balance to the club when Anakin arrives.
We've had a lot of Empire themedStar Wars Night kids, so so
just great to have Anakin and theHanan family coming in for the open.

(01:14:24):
I mean, young fans and anyolder fans too, Come on down.
I know a lot of people thatfell in love with the support itself and
haven't had a chance to go watcha Sandy with soccer's game. So if
you're really about it, support localsoccer is a hashtag going around support local
soccer. Okay, boss, allright, let's let's be about it.
Then you know where to go,and I think people know where to go.

(01:14:44):
But if you don't know where togo, boom, check it out
right there. That's where you getyour tickets. That's it. Stsoccers dot
com slash tickets. Remember group ratesavailable, the chance to have your group
fundraise with Soccers tickets, selling ticketsand getting money right back to your group,

our newest Soccers fan, we hope. And with that the show comes to

(01:15:28):
an end. We look for atight hour and we leaked all the way
out to six eighteen. It happens, but there was good stuff. It's
my fault. It's always my fault. I guess that's my job to just
the producer right and just rain youin sometimes. But you know what,
I like it. I like it. It's okay. I had to.
I had to defend Tayu's honor therefor a few minutes. It leaked us
