Tvingades lämna Ryssland i april 2023 efter att ha förvägrats nytt visum. Hon hade då bott och arbetat som korrespondent där i 16 år. Som finlandssvensk journalist rapporterar hon för Dagens Nyheter och Hufvudstadsbladet med ny stationering i Kiev, Ukraina. Hennes sjätte bok ”Sammetsdiktaturen” från 2021 handlar om ryska folkets vardagsliv och det politiska spelet i Kreml.

– Jag ska prata om hur det är att flytta från det land som för krig till det land som försvarar sig. Hur det känns att vakna till flyglarm i Kiev och hur avståndet mellan våra världar blir större och större. Det går inte att påverka en människa som bestämt sig för att något är på ett visst sätt. Ska man hålla kvar vänskapen då?
