Tvingades lämna Ryssland i april 2023 efter att ha förvägrats nytt visum. Hon hade då bott och arbetat som korrespondent där i 16 år. Som finlandssvensk journalist rapporterar hon för Dagens Nyheter och Hufvudstadsbladet med ny stationering i Kiev, Ukraina. Hennes sjätte bok ”Sammetsdiktaturen” från 2021 handlar om ryska folkets vardagsliv och det politiska spelet i Kreml.
