I mars 2023 signerade han dokumentet som tillät Finland att gå med i försvarsalliansen Nato. Han värnar det nordiska samarbetet och har förespråkat en dialog med Ryssland.
Sauli Niinistö är Republiken Finlands 12:e president. Han valdes in 2012 och omvaldes för ytterligare en sexårsperiod 2018. Nu närmar han sig slutet av sin ämbetsperiod.
