Entertaining & inspiring conversational talks on God, life, scripture & what it means to be human, recorded weekly in front of a live audience of seekers, sinners & maybe even a few saints-in-the-making at the original South Hills Church location in Corona, CA.
Obviously we all have favorites—a favorite ice cream, sports team, or streaming show. And we LOVE talking about them. There’s nothing better than finding out someone loves what you love (or hates what you hate). It’s natural to like some things more than others. But what about people? Most of us have a certain people we look up to. And if we’re honest, maybe there’s a few we look down on. Maybe it’s a specific person, o...
We all have moments where we learn something that shifts our perspective. Maybe it was an inconvenient truth, an inspiring story, or a profound observation. And now that you know it, you can’t unknow it. Maybe you feel like you should do something about it. But what? Sure, you could get started, but how do you know you’re doing the absolute best thing. You just need to know a bit more—just a few more searches, articles,...
We all like the idea of a stress-free existence. Wouldn’t it be great if every ounce of anxiety just suddenly evaporated? If God really loved you, isn’t that what He’d do? What if that’s not the goal though? What if God doesn’t want us to get rid of it, but to grow through it? What if you didn’t have to fall apart under pressure? What if you could persevere? What if your setbacks could build you instead of break you? Ho...
People say the first step is the hardest. And...maybe. But you’ve started a million different things, and first steps aren’t really your issue, follow through is. Maybe like mine, your life is peppered with unfinished projects, undeveloped ideas, false starts, and first drafts. You have so many good intentions but get sidetracked so easily. Being consistent is exhausting, challenging, and sometimes boring. How do you ke...
We all want our lives to count. We want to feel like what we do matters. But we can’t all matter, right? I mean, there’s 8 billion of us. Just because we want our life to count doesn’t mean it does. In a world of big business, algorithms, and AI, is anything you do actually going to make much of a difference? How could the little you’re able to do possibly amount to much of anything? The Scriptures insist that our actio...
At the beginning of every year, we cross our fingers and hope for our best year yet. We imagine the places we’ll go, things we’ll achieve, and person we’ll become. But by the time you hit June, real life has kicked in—things came up, plans changed, you got off track. You still have the same goals; you just don’t have the time to invest in them. Why does this keep happening? Is it possible to change it? If so, where woul...
Everybody has spent time daydreaming about what they’d do if they suddenly came into a lot of money. We imagine all the ways we could make our lives better. “I’d buy this. Go there. Support that.”. But we’re not entirely selfish. We also imagine the ways we’d make other people’s lives better. We’re big-hearted, generous people, we just don’t have the money to do what we want to do. We definitely would if we could. But w...
When everything falls apart, everybody calls out to God. We beg Him for help, guidance, miracles. We promise we’ll do things His way if He’ll just put us back on the right path. But when life is good, a lot of us don’t even think about God. We’re doing fine and don’t really need God. At least not like we used to. But is that true? We’ve all seen stories of successful people blowing their lives up. How do we keep from be...
Did Jesus really spit in a disabled guy’s mouth? It seems wrong on so many levels, I don’t even know where to start. Is Jesus ridiculing or demeaning this guy? If He was trying to help or heal him, couldn’t He have chosen something a lot less embarrassing? Was Jesus just being a jerk? How do we make sense of this?
Did Jesus really call church people “children of the devil”? What did He mean by that?
And why is He getting into a name-calling shouting match in the first place? What did these people do to deserve that? Even if it was pretty bad, couldn’t He have handled it differently? Did He lose control or is He doing this on purpose?
Did Jesus really tell people to hate their mom & dad? I thought we were supposed to love everyone. How does this fit with all that “love your enemy” stuff? Is Jesus really commanding us to hate people? What are we missing? Why is He using such harsh language? And why in the world would you bring this up on Mother’s Day?
Did Jesus really say God might not forgive you if you don’t forgive others? I thought salvation was a free gift from God. Is His forgiveness conditional? If so, how many conditions are there? What if you can’t live up to all of them? Does this mean—if someone hurts you and you can’t put it behind you, you don’t get to go to heaven?
Did Jesus really smash up someone’s business? If He’s so kind and loving, why would He break displays, damage merchandise, and run off customers? Isn’t that vandalism? I thought Jesus was anti-violence. Didn’t He tell us to love, serve, & pray for our enemies? Why would He destroy their livelihood? Is it ok for me to?

Sometimes it’s hard to fully enjoy when things are going good, because in the back of your mind you’re wondering, “How long is this going to last?” You probably shouldn’t relax too much, enjoy too much, share too much. Because something is going to happen and it’s all going to evaporate. Sure, you’re grateful for what you’ve got, but you’ve got to be on your guard. You want to be open, encouraging, and giving, but withi...
We all have certain things we have a hard time keeping in check—bad habits, thought patterns, coping mechanisms, unhelpful desires, unhealthy relationships. It’s usually not something we’re proud of. We want to deal with it, but quietly. Which is code for—alone. But somehow, protecting our pride seems to make the problem worse. What do we do with the parts of us that have gotten out of control? Where do we take them? Wh...
Everybody’s afraid of something. For some of us, it is spiders, snakes, or spoiled milk. Most of these things we can avoid. But what about the other stuff? The big stuff. The stuff there aren’t exterminators or sniff tests for. Things like failure, rejection, abandonment. The fear of these things stands between you and everything you want. They deal death blows to opportunities, relationships, and dreams. How do you kee...
