(00:22):
but first I want to recognizeyou as a local celebrity.
Your family has been part ofdowntown I mean, can I say
centuries, for centuries?
Sure, yeah, long time, longtime.
So your dad and your uncleswere a huge part of the downtown
renovation way back when.
Yes, and somehow you havelanded yourself also to do the
(00:46):
same thing.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Yeah, How's it going?
It's going great.
Yeah, it's an incredible placeto be, especially with the
family history and them havingstarted Me Hands in downtown
Melbourne about 1961, butthey've been attached to
downtown Melbourne their entirelives and have buildings in
downtown and it's just been apart of who I am and how I've
(01:07):
grown up.
And to land in this job hasbeen pretty amazing.
It kind of picked me.
I didn't pick it, but I'mpretty passionate about it.
I think I have some extrapassion inside of me to drive
through the hard parts butreally just want what's best for
downtown and our main focus isthe revitalization of downtown
Melbourne and just reallyhelping the community and
(01:30):
visitors understand what aspecial place it is and making
those special opportunities forthem to engage and come down and
meet all the business ownersand just have celebrations and
fun nights out and shopping andall the great things and
experiences that we have.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
That's what downtown
is all about right.
It's about the shops, it'sabout the fun, it's about
getting out and about and, yes,I met a lot of the shop owners
and they're all so sweet.
Here we have a picture of youin downtown Melbourne.
What are you three there?
Yeah, so cute.
What is that building behindyou?
The furniture store?
What is it now?
Speaker 2 (02:10):
So that is actually
Melbourne Court.
So when you're heading west onNew Haven, after you come off US
1 and you can take a fork inthe road and go right on New
Haven, or you can go left whereRoots Tavern is and all of that
right in there, and then you'lltake the turn at Iron Oak Post
and so it's right there.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
it's sort of the
backside of Crush 11, right
there at Campbell Park, oh, backwhere the wedding shop is.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Yeah, not that far
before that.
Okay, cool, very cool.

My daughter got an apron fromher grandmother and I was like,
oh, that's kind of a cool gift,but I didn't realize how often
(13:10):
she uses it now and she likeinvites her to the kitchen.

to be around you or has anyinterested in at all, I say, get
on the apron.
It's fun, yeah, and it'll stayout all year long.
Speaker 2 (13:26):

aprons.

They still have theirs.
Oh, really yeah, it's reallywell, I mean yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:52):

exactly or you could just puttheir name on it and keep it in
the kitchen.

Speaker 2 (15:12):
We all know that some
mother made this right.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Yes, yeah out of
necessity.
That's what they said.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
They said Uh, you
can't really get this anywhere
else but it's like it's anactivity scarf, so the mom puts
it on when she's holding thebaby and they can do all the
different things, the littlemirror and all the different
textures and tags.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
You don't even need a
pocket with a little surprise
in here.
Yep, yeah, so you can have babyon you and keep them
entertained at the fuzzy littlemirror Something going on in
there too.
It's so fun.
I kind of want to get this formy friend Katie, who gets out of
baby.
Yeah, a little scrunchie for thesound, it's so cool and you
just wear it, you don't need anyextra thing.
(15:50):
You could have the baby andit's super, super soft too, so
cute, and it comes in lots ofdifferent colors.

the kids, alright, but what ifyou're entangled in a secret
Santa, maybe with work orsomething?
Let's give you some ideas.
First off is the art expressionkit.
You can get this at me hands.
I mean, I know not everybody'san artist, but we all could use
(17:15):
that, even engineers.
Yeah, they receive it.
They'll bust it out when theyneed to, and have a great time
with it.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
Just explore a little
bit.
Explore a little bit, I don'tknow.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
It doesn't matter if
you're left brain or right brain
.
You should kind of explore that.
Yeah, next up is Critter Cup,so you can get this at Creative
Bazaar.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
These are so cute as
you're drinking your.
Well, for me it would be hotchocolate, or tea.
But there's a little critter inthe bottom, so a little turtle.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
You drink up and then
you reveal your little friend
at the bottom.
How cute.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
Leave it to the
artist to come up with fun
things, right?
Yeah, I love it Alright.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Number three is an
unwrap it.
Do us the honors and show uswhat we should get our secret
Santa.
Oh, this is fun.
These are Christmas themedplanters from let's Plant it.
Speaker 2 (18:13):
What I love about
this Okay.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
Look at this so you
can put the themed.
So we have a reindeer, a littlesnowman in there, a beautiful
little Christmas tree, but whenChristmas is over you just go
back there and get new littlethings to put in there and you
can have this all year round.
It's so cute, they also haveyou know, these little mini guys
(18:38):
Also super cute.
What's?
Speaker 2 (18:39):
really really unique
about.
Let's Plant it like.
They do have some of these thatyou can just walk in and grab
for your secret Santa gifts orthose people that are really
hard to buy for, but you can goin and make it yourself.
You pick your vessel, you pickyour sand or dirt and your
toppings which it wouldn't andthis one is like these little
white pebbles and some of thelarger rocks and then you can
(19:01):
plant whatever you want.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Yeah, and you can
pick it.
Speaker 2 (19:05):
These tend to be
supplements in here, but they
have like flowing, beautifulplants and all kinds of
different pots and vessels thatyou can do things.
They have the big geraniumthings that you can make too.
Speaker 1 (19:16):
Yeah, very beautiful
vessels in there.
Yes, it's really neat.
My daughter loves it in there.
She always wants to go.
We get it for her friends too.
They have really a greatselection.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
It's a great outing
for girlfriends, totally yeah.

That's a great deal.
Speaker 2 (20:03):
Yeah, that's super
fun.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Alright, speaking of
experiences, that's next and we
are going to unwrap the firstexperience.
It's from Executive Cigar Shopand Lounge.
Now, I went in there thisweekend and I mean I wasn't
expecting it to be so cool inthere.
(20:29):
I mean it is slick.
It's high end.
It's high end, it's justbeautiful.
So you can go there and have anexperience, many experiences.
But here we have a cigar fromWinston Churchill, d'arnav,
davanoff, davanoff.
Thank you, jesse, thank you,and really it's a good one, oh,
(20:54):
very good one.
And then they also suggested aprivate barrel pick Pick here
From Three Cord.
Yes, who is Neil Geraldo is PatBenetard's husband, so he makes
this stuff and you can only getthis kind exclusively at
(21:15):
Executive Cigar Shop and Lounge.
And this place isn't just forthe guys.
They have a Fierce FumerasWomen's Club that meets every
second Wednesday of every month.
They have other events forgentlemen and everybody I mean
you got to be 18 and up rightand they have a tasting room in
(21:35):
the back.
Speaker 2 (21:36):
It's so neat.
I actually actually asked me tocome speak and give them, just
like all things going on indowntown Melbourne, and I went
one time.
The ladies are lovely, veryeclectic group, like everybody's
welcome.
I have to try that.
I think they have some snacksand people smoke whatever cigars
they want.
They have discussions or superengaged.
(21:56):
They're all learning somethingall the time when they come.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
So it's more than
just cigars.
It's like a women's club.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
It's definitely
fellowship and they're just
learning stuff all the time.
Speaker 1 (22:06):
I love that Super
neat.
I'll have to try that.
This is a single barrel bourbon.
Yes.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
So this is a special
barrel pick for them.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Amazing, and that's a
dual flame lighter, which is
very fancy.
These are the type of giftsthat, like you, wouldn't buy
yourself, but if you got it as agift, I mean it's luxury every
time.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Exactly, it's lovely,
it's heavy too, like it's got
some substance to it.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
A nice design.
But if cigars aren't theirthing, maybe they want to go to
the Henniger Center, and theyhave a lot of good stuff playing
this upcoming year.
Sound of music the Diana one asthe bodyguard, I know right,
what Wouldn't that be fun?
They have the best shows they.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Dominic has has done
such an incredible job.
He and his board and his teamhave just completely reimagining
the Henniger Center and if youhaven't been in the last two
years, I want to go you reallyneed to make a chance, you know.
Make it, make a concertedeffort to go.
They are selling out all theirshows.
They usually have to add acouple because of the demand.
(23:14):
That was not the case whenDominic came in and they were
kind of struggling, but he'sturned this around and it's just
pure talent.
It is the execution and thesound and the visuals and
they've got a lot of new seatingand they've done a lot of
renovations.
They're really investing inthis and I believe that they're
one of the main attractions indowntown Melbourne.
That is really driving a lot ofpeople coming down there, so
(23:37):
I'm excited.
Speaker 1 (23:38):
I'm definitely
wanting to catch a show and I
want to take my daughter there.
I think it'd be good for like ahigh school, or two, you know
absolutely Some little culturein their lives.
Yeah, number three is backwater.
Speaker 2 (23:50):
I mean.
I love waffles.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
There's always a line
because it's so popular and
it's so fun to cook the pancakesin front of you and their food,
whether you're doing thepancakes or not it's phenomenal.
Yeah, it's delicious.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Have you ever had the
Gator gumbo?
Speaker 1 (24:09):
I don't think I have.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Oh, should I get that
?
It's a.
It's a big bowl of gumbo but ithas fried Gator tail in it.
I don't need a lot of friedstuff, but like this is really
this is something you have tohave.
All right, I'm going to trythat.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Well, they have the
Gator and waffles too.
Speaker 1 (24:25):
Yeah, oh yeah, I
haven't had that one.
They don't do chicken, they doGator.
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:31):
Yeah, everything in
there is interesting.
Speaker 1 (24:33):
That's an experience
if you've never had a total
experience, and the kids canmake whatever kind of pancakes.
They give you a little squeezybottle and you can make smiley
faces or Mickey Mouse or a Gator.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
whatever you want to
do on the griddle, Cook it
yourself.
Fun experience for sure.
Speaker 1 (24:49):
Ok, last but not
least, we have bored and brush.
You were telling us about howfun this place can be.
It looks fun.
Yeah, super, it will guide youto do like a really good job.
If you're not, yeah, you can'tmess up.
You can't mess up, you justcan't.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Yeah, it's super.
It's super fun.
A lot of people do it.
We know real leaders they have.
They come in and do them andthey give gifts when they have
people buy homes like a welcomewelcome to the whatever Good
idea.
Families home Like there's allkinds of different ideas.
They have all different kindsof workshops all the time.
At graduation time they havelike they have these long boards
(25:27):
that you set by your front door.
that has like my senior and thenhas the school on them, so all
kinds of unique really neat.
I actually made a front mat formy door and my front door is
not made of wood, but it's madeof like a.
You know the rug in front ofyour front door.
It's like that straw the mathyeah, and I painted it and did
all the stuff and it came outgreat.
(25:47):
The whole thing of goodstencils to help you out, that's
fun.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
So they have
everything you need.
All you have to do is show upand make something beautiful,
lovely.
That was Downtown Melbourne'sUnwrapped, but I actually took
it upon myself to go down therethis past weekend because, as
wonderful as this list is, wehave friends and they're all
(26:12):
unique.
So, I thought we could play the12 Friends of Christmas.
Oh fun, all right.
And what I think we should dois give shoutouts to our
personal friends to say, hey, Iwould like to give that to you,
because it's the thought thatcounts.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
OK.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
We don't really need
to give that to them, especially
if they're far away.
So let's see.
The first friend I had in mindis for your crafty and creative
friend.
I saw this at Norrish Savannah.
It's a soap making kit.
Speaker 2 (26:39):
Oh, we all have this
friend that likes to dabble in
things.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
I would probably give
that to my friend Lindsay.
She's not totally creative, butif you hand her something
she'll want to play with it.
Speaker 2 (26:50):
She'd want to play
with it.
Yeah, so she can get that atNorrish in Downtown Melbourne.
Yes, or I can get that for her.
Speaker 1 (26:55):
Yeah, number two
would be your music buff or your
music lover.
I saw these cute little ducksat Giftique.
They have star tips.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
These are all the
rage, yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
They have the next
slide.
You would see who is that guy.
Yes, Starved duck David.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Bowie yeah, so if you
have a friend that has a jeep,
you can duck them.
Oh, really Cool, you can leavethe duck on them.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
I would give one of
these.
I'd put this in, maybeShargoods stocking stuff.
She'd love it.
She would love it.
Ok, the next is for yourhostess Do you have any
hostesses?
In mind.
Yes, this one is a peppermintbark recipe and it comes with a
talon scoop set.
I thought that was cute.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
Where can you get
that?
Speaker 1 (27:48):
That is from Coastal
Cloth.
Coastal Cloth baby, Super cute.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Yeah, you wouldn't
think that it was in the baby
store, but it's for mom.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
It's really cute.
Or you can get them vintagerolling pins from Betty's
antique.
They have a whole basket there.
I'm a vintage lover, so there'ssomething about these vintage
pins that are so cute and unique.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
I love that.
Yes, she's got a lot of reallyunique stuff in there, yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:15):
Yes, a lot.
And then finally, maybe a winestain remover from Giftique.
We all spill the wine.
We need to remove it.
This should be in everystocking.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
I think so too.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
So I would give these
gifts to, maybe, my friends
Sarah or Tammy.
They're always hosting, they'realways on top of their game.
Good to go, OK.
So next is the Swiftie fan.
I found this Taylor Swiftcoloring book at mehands.
That would be a great stockingstuffer for the Swifties.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
Yeah, yes, I didn't
know they had those.
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (28:53):
I saw those.
My girls went through a smallSwiftie phase, but then I was
like you can't play that musicin my house anymore and they
kind of forgot about her.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
They do ruin it for
us.
Oh, they ruin it.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
Let me listen to it
again.
I'm like I can't.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
Yeah, my daughter and
I went to many Taylor Swift
concerts.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Oh really, oh yeah,
for a while.
This is a nice, quiet TaylorSwift activity, so that'll be
good.
But what about your gothicfriend?
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Someone who's a
little.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
On the dark side I
found these stackable skeleton
cups and these are at thecreative, bizarre, creative,
bizarre.
Yes, yeah, I might give this tomy friend Tracy's daughter,
nila.
She's kind of edgy and cool.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
I like it yeah.
No one else would have that.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
No one else would
have that and you can have your
friends over what Four friendsover?
Have a nice time, yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
All right.
What about our funny friend?
Do you have any funny friends?
Yeah, I have funny friends.
Speaker 2 (29:55):
Most of my friends
are funny.
This I have on my camera roll.
Oh, just so you know, I took apicture of that too.
Yes, and I was walking Santaaround a couple of weekends ago.
How can you not?
Speaker 1 (30:06):
So your funny friend
will be wearing this to the
beach.
If you get it for her, I wouldgive this to my friend Bridget.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
Would she wear it?
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Maybe for a little
photo shoot action.
Yes, I think you've got to goto the beach in that, or?
Speaker 2 (30:18):
like a cruise.
I'm going on a cruise the firstweek of February.
I'm thinking about maybe, maybewearing that Just coming out
there's like 10 of us and I'lljust show up at the pool like
that and the same thing or.
Jesse, maybe they have that inyour sights.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Well, for the guys I
picked out, there's this really
funny t-shirt at Mr Nice Guys, boats and Hose, referencing that
wonderful movie.
Speaker 2 (30:43):
Ho, ho, ho yes.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
Boats and Ho, ho, ho
Ho.
Speaker 2 (30:47):
They have a lot of
funny things in there.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Yeah, and these come
in green and red sleeves.
They're hilarious.
Or you can just get them.
This little Dick in the box, santa ornament.
Hello, okay, you're going toget a laugh, something for
everyone, something for everyonein downtown.
Melbourne.
What about your loud and feistyfriend?
(31:11):
Oh yes, this is the bitch.
I will throw your ass in thetrunk and help them search for
you.
Don't test me.
It's a pouch.
She's got lots of pouches inthere at creative Bazaar.
I would give this to my friend, nicole D.
She would love that.
Nicole, she'd put it to gooduse.
Yes, I like it.
(31:32):
She would whip it out.
Okay, but what if you have aromantic friend?
I love these little heartshaped plants at the let's
Plantit store.
They're so cute.
They look like hearts and againyou can put them in a little
vessel of your choice.
(31:53):
They're amazing.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
We could also get
that for Valentine's Day too, if
you already have your presents.
Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
Christmas Totally.
That'd be cute Totally.
Or you can go to creativeBazaar again, and they have.
Well, they have Kyle's artworkthere.
I saw these little rosepaintings that he did, which I
thought were super cute, butthey also have some vintage in
the back that I love.
This velvet vest would be cuteor, you know, a beautiful yellow
(32:22):
gown, yeah there's alwayssomething special in the back
room there and I picked out amanual on Garo shirt there.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Wow yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
So I got lucky there.
I took it.
But there's really cute stuffin the back and then, yeah,
kyle's there to paint theinventory.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
There is always
changing, so you never know what
you're going to find.
Yeah, it's super fun.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Yeah, Okay.
But what if you have a like aspiritual kind of?
Person in your life.
Oh, this is actually.
This is from Betty's antique.
It's for your romantic person.
They have really greatselection of vintage bags.
I love this velvet one, thathair piece.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
I'm just going to say
that is where do?
Speaker 1 (33:06):
you get that very
vintage.
Yeah, you get that at Betty'santiques and they had some very
beautiful like glass perfumeholders.
I mean, if you go in there andyou mine for things, you can
find really good gifts for yourromantic friend, all right, but
next is your spiritual friend.
(33:27):
You're a witchy woman.
I saw at Jessups, I mean, thatring, it's moon stars.
It's a beautiful ring.
But what I also noticed is theyhave a full wall of salt lamps.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Yes, and all sizes
and shapes, all sizes.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
All shape.
Did you see the bunnies?
Speaker 2 (33:43):
and stuff.
Yeah, they make them thebunnies.
Yeah, they do have very, verylarge ones.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Yeah, so I was like,
wow, I didn't think that I would
find this at the jewelry store.
Speaker 2 (33:52):
But there it is.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
Yeah, they've got
jewelry and gifts.
Yes, yes, I got my my 10 yearanniversary ring there, nice or
you can go to Mr Nice guys and Isaw this top Mm, hmm, they also
have it with bottoms, but thistop was super cute.
Sun moon you know that, vibe Um.
(34:15):
And then one more from creativeand bizarre.
There's this crystal ball thereon this, like really weird iron
stand that I thought like whata unique gift.
Do you have a friend that coulduse that?
Um, I would give that.
I'd like give that to um,danielle, maybe, or my mom,
she's kind of into that stuff.
(34:37):
She's got some powers.
Yeah.
Yeah, danielle, over at Derek'scause I know she talks to me
about that stuff or, um, my momdefinitely Lace, um, okay, but
we all have the fashionistafriend, and if you can't afford
the Louis Vuitton, you mightwant to go to downtown divas.
Here are some of the picks thatI chose.
(34:57):
That bow dress would bewonderful for New Year's.
Yes, um, cropped sweater it'skind of chilly out these days.
Those sandals are amazing.
I kind of want them.
Um.
And then they have that reallycute uh basket bag.
Uh, it's on a top shelf so youhave to look high to see it, but
a bunch of cute stuff.
I mean, everything in there isso cute.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Yes, so you can wear
it on trend.
Speaker 1 (35:22):
On trend.
You can wear it for a night outor um holiday, every day
holiday parties.
I would, I would.
I would give something to myfriend Lena from here.
She's a fashion girl.
Um then I would go back toBetty's antiques for a weird hat
.
I really want this crocodilepurse.
If anybody's listening, it's,it's real crocodile and it's
(35:48):
vintage and it's beautiful.
And they had this display oflittle glass shoes.
I mean, it's a trinket tray,right?
Yeah?
So all bunch of differentcolors here.
Um, I think any fashion girlwould love any of these gifts.
Super unique.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Yes, yeah, yeah, you
can't find that anywhere else.
Speaker 1 (36:06):
You're not going to
find that anywhere else.
Um, and then you can go over tosend dollars and get, let's see
.
Oh, this nail polish I lovebecause it's non-toxic.
I stopped buying, like OPIs andstuff like that when I realized
how much toxic uh chemicals werein there.
(36:26):
This one is non-toxic.
Nice, I would get them in everycolor.
They have a really nice arrayof colors there.
Um, yeah, and you can get thatat send dollars.
It's good for if you have kids.
You know, I don't want my kidto use the toxic stuff.
So right, any mom, any mom withkids, this is a place to go.
Um, but what if you had acannabis connoisseur in your
(36:48):
life?
I mean, now that you can get alicense for that?
There's many out there and solet's plant it.
They have this pot head potwhich I thought was really cute.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Literally something
for everyone in downtown.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
Yes, Everyone um, you
can go to Mr Nice guys and get
a hand blown piece.
My favorite is from glass tomouth.
He makes these really coollooking.
Jellyfish uh things or the icemolds are fun, but what's
funnier is this they have agrandpa and grandpa, grandpa and
(37:26):
grandma mug that you could alsosmoke out of, so it's like a
waken bake gift.
Oh well, there it is.
There it is.
I couldn't believe when I sawit, but hey, it's perfect.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
We all need something
like that Sometimes they do
have live glass blowing shop inthe back now, so they're making
a lot of stuff.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
It's fun.
It is super fun to watch.
So go in there, yeah, take alook, um.
And then, finally, our 12thfriend is the pet lover.
So these are from let's plantit.
They have funny cat and dogplanters and, again, you can put
whatever plant you want, that'll fit in there.
(38:05):
Um, I have from me hands.
They have these great littlecoloring books, um, for, yeah,
you can learn how to draw dogsand puppies.
My daughter would love that.
Or you can just draw on theselittle coloring kits on top of
the lovey.
You can personalize your loveywith some markers.
(38:27):
And then there's the cardinal.
Um, my husband grew up oncardinal drive, okay, and so did
my best friend.
So I thought what a great giftthat would be for all the people
that grew up on cardinal drivedown there Jamie and Kyle,
that's awesome.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
I think that they
would love that.
That's a neat idea.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
Yes.
And then finally, one more petlovers gift Um, peas when
excited, uh dog tag.
I think my dog needs that cause.
Every time someone comes and Ipet her she'll pee a little bit,
but that's what dogs do, right?
Um, a fine little coloring book.
And At Creative Bazaar theyhave these funny photos that
(39:13):
they put the pets the the dog orcat's head on a vintage photo.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Yes, and.
Speaker 1 (39:19):
I mean, any pet lover
would get out of that, I think.
So that is our 12 Friends ofChristmas.
Speaker 2 (39:28):
That was a great list
.
Speaker 1 (39:29):
Yes, it was fun to go
shopping, aww.
So now, people of Melbourne andbeyond, you have all you need
to get your shopping done, because we're on the clock now,
right we are.
How many days till Christmas?

Speaker 2 (40:01):
You mentioned Shargid
.
She's going to be performing inthe legallery area which is
just right near Vernon Place offNew Haven and that's where
Strawberry Jart League is andCreative Bazaar.
So yeah, go say hi to Shar.
And then we have all kinds ofother strolling carolers and
entertainers all throughoutdowntown and so there's
(40:23):
something going on all over theplace and some of the shops have
hired musicians to play withintheir businesses and, yeah,
we've got a lot of really coolstuff happening, and all the
stores will be open till atleast 8 o'clock, so Candlelight
Shopping is from 4 to 8.
Okay, and some of them and someof the nights has been so busy.
I know one of them had theirlast customer at 9.40 pm.
(40:45):
They're willing to stay openand help you.
You know, select that perfectgift for you too.
And then all the shops will beopen all the way through the
following Saturday, and, youknow, until right before
Christmas.
Perfect, yeah.
So do it sooner than later, butyou'll have a little bit of
time left, and I think what'smost important is, when you shop
local, you're really helpinglocal families.
(41:08):
Yeah, almost every single thingin downtown Melbourne is
locally owned, and it really, really, really makes a
difference.
This is their season.
This is the time that carriesthem through the.
You know the hot summer months, when people aren't coming out as
much, and things like that.
And so please, please, please, think about shopping local, yeah
.
It may take you a little bitmore time to do that, but
(41:29):
there's tons of parking in theparking garage.
It's 400 steps from the parkinggarage to New Haven Avenue.
It's nothing yeah.
Speaker 1 (41:37):
And we've made it
really easy for you.
You can watch this pick whatyou need and just zip and go
yeah.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
And I do want to give
a shout out to all the
restaurants and the bars too, because it's you know, it's
definitely a celebratory season.
Lots of people are havingparties and just gathering
together families in town.
So, even if it's right afterChristmas, make sure you think
of downtown Melbourne for that.
Speaker 1 (41:59):
Absolutely.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
Cocktail or just
gathering with friends and
family if you've come home or Doyou know if anybody's having
like a New Year's celebration.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
Yeah, Hurricane Creek
.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
They shut down Vernon
and they have a concert, a free
concert, really, yeah, it's theringing of country music artist
in that they do every year andthey blow it out and it's really
fun, cool, really really fun.
So yeah, Amazing.
Lots going on and I know a lotof the other establishments will
be doing things too, and Maggswill be there.
They always put on a good time.
Yeah, they do.
You know, pub Americana, whitzfrozen custard Like if you don't
(42:31):
know what to get for stockingstuffers.
I don't know if you guys havetried it, they're brand new in
downtown no no, tell us you maynever eat ice cream again if you
have Whitz frozen custard.
I there's, you can't evendescribe it.
Okay, it's creamier and it's oh, it is a real frozen custard.
Apparently this comes from thenorth.
(42:52):
I don't know.
I'm a native Melbourne person,so like I don't know these
things, but it's ridiculous.
And they have all kinds oftoppings and they have a
different flavor.
Is it once a week or every day,I can't remember?
But, and they have to go cakes, and they have to go containers
too.
You want to get the fresh stuffright out of it and put you
pick your toppings, and oh mygoodness.
Speaker 1 (43:14):
Where are they
located?
So they're right by gift, oh,okay 11, like right in there,
