Fall 1:
Blixtarna slår ner runt dem där de sitter, mitt i stormens centrum, uppe på en avsats på berget. Varje andetag är tungt, kläderna är stela av is och om en av dem somnar nu kan det innebära slutet för dem båda. Det här skulle bli deras första riktiga dejt – kanske början på en otrolig resa eller till och med ett liv tillsammans. Men det som började som ett fantastiskt äventyr har nu förvandlats till deras värsta mardröm.
Fall 2:
Hon tar ett sista, skälvande andetag innan hon kastar sig ut från flygplanet. Så faller hon fritt rakt ner mot marken, långt där nere. Det här är något som hade gjort de flesta livrädda, men för Victoria Cilliers infinner sig bara ett märkligt lugn. Nu är det dags att utlösa fallskärmen, så hon drar i handtaget – och skärmen fälls ut. Men istället för att sakta ner fortsätter hon att störta mot marken. Med fasa inser hon att fallskärmen ovanför henne är trasig, och att hon faller mot en säker död.
