En kylig dag i slutet av februari 1957 hittas en pojke död i en kartong i utkanten av Philadelphia. Ärren och blåmärkena på hans kropp vittnar om en våldsam uppväxt – innan han till slut slogs ihjäl. Ingen vet vem pojken är eller vem som mördat honom, och trots att polisen går ut med flera efterlysningar kommer utredningen ingen vart.
Pojken i lådan förblir ett olöst mysterium i över 60 år. Tills nu.
