sports are creeping back. UFC happened. They've had three events already since
the last time we've recorded, Sothings are starting to creep back a little

bit, a little bit of normalcy, and that's good to see and good
to feel. So that's my openingstatement here on again episode one oh six.
Let's check in with the always talkativeMarty. What's up nothing? Ye
had quite the opening ramble there,Yeah, you know, I just felt

like I had to to get thatout there, you know, like,
yeah, I feel like your spiritsstart to lift up. Once the weather
does, you know, start toget better. You can go outside instead
of be trapped in a you know, a dark, enclosed house forever,
like, you can actually go outsideand do some yard work and you know,

to speak. That it opens upthe potential for FuMO though, because you're
like, you're like, oh,it's so nice outside of but people are

By the way, fear of missingout for those who are unaware of the
would that be an acronym? Isthat? Is that what it's called acronym
whatever, we're gonna call it anacronym, the acronym fomo fear of missing
out? But like, yeah,you know, if your friends are doing
something that that's that's one thing.But it's just the ability to escape a

house. That's just you've been you'vebeen inside for for two months and just
doing nothing. You you get outthere, and god, it's good to
clear your mind, at least forme. I mean it might be different
for for some other people. Butfor me, just to be able to

and and uh good good for mymy mental health, I guess you could
say. But those listening don't reallyprobably give a damn about what I'm doing
and what Marty's doing. They're hereto listen and hear about what happened in
the wrestling world this past week.So we're going to dive on into that
starting with an XT as always are, we are in an XT podcast,

So let's point out the things thathappened this past week. First off,
I think the main storyline from thisepisode was that of Matt Riddle and Timothy
Thatcher they called Simothy by the way, so this episode is going to be
called Why Simothy. Why. Showstarts out with a tag team title defense

Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher against Imperium, And in this case, we thought
that at least I thought that Riddleand Thatcher would retain as always, you
know, just because they're not gonnareally have them lose the title while Pete
Dunn's overseas and you know it can'tdo anything about it. Instead, they

had Imperium win because of a mistakethat Matt Riddle made. So Matt Riddle
has Fabian Eichner in a I believehe just monkey flipped him onto Thatcher as
he was standing ringside and Thatcher tookit personally from Riddle, that he was

(05:27):
trying to intentionally do that. Idon't know if that's really logical, but
that was what was going through Thatcher'smind. Also, keep in mind what
antics Riddle has had since Thatcher methim and partnered up with him, So
I guess that goes into like kindof a slow bleeding storyline type of deal.
But Thatcher walked out and Riddle.They teased for a minute that Riddle

was going to get the job doneby himself after he had a rip coordine,
and then I believe he hit theI forget what they call it,
but it's like the broad Dominator orsomething. I don't know, it's the
Gotch neutralizer. But Riddle ends uptaking the finish from Eichner and Bartel,

and we have new tag team ChampionsImperium, the guys that I've told Marty
that I've just absolutely adored from awrestling standpoint and really think that they are
like next level tag team and fora tag team division that I mean,
let's be honest, with the combinationof the pandemic and circumstances has been kind

of kind of dry here as oflate. It's good to see that,
like a true tag team is ontop with those titles and it opens up
a brand new feud. So firstpart of that, what did you think
about that first match? And obviouslythe leading storyline, and we'll get into

the main event right after you giveyour opinion. I mean, that first
map was you know, I'm stillhaving a really hard time paying attention to
matches with the no crowd, theno no noise thing, so like matches
that were probably decent to me arejust kind of mediocre because it's just so
hard to get invested and pay attention. I've literally been struggling with that so

bad when it comes to wrestling.It's part of the reason why I did
not watch Money in the Bank,but part of the reason why I've barely
been watching anything outside of NXTUM.But it was good. I mean,
I feel like this is you knowhow when this all started and we were
like, oh, I bet PeteDunne turns on Matt redd on we get
heal Pete done? I think thator did we say Matt Riddle would turn

on Pete done? Dude? Ihonestly said one of them. I think
I might have said Pete done gotI don't. I don't remember. It's
been too long, but I feellike this is a storyline that they probably
had for Pete playing and for Petein them, but I'm not sure.
I think they might have just hadto pull the trigger on something a little

early, because you know, whoknows when Pete's going to get over here
to be with Matt Riddle. Whoknows when they'll be able to get these
other people, you know, ableto do these things. I mean right
now, that tag division, they'vegot like what three tag teams because they
were using they were pulling a lotfrom the UK. So and I feel

like I'm very confused on how Imperiumis doing the United States NXT and like
what's going on with the UK's NXT. Maybe some of them are just over
here, they've been over here,and then some of them are just stuck
the sides of that though, LikeI haven't really been paying attention to it.
No, they don't. They hadsome that were taped, so,

like I think they had like threeor four episodes that were taped in advance,
so they were able to but they'vebeen just kind of doing callbacks and
drawbacks, like for the one episodeof UK they were talking about the rise
of Imperium. Another one they weretalking about like the UK Championship and like
the history of that, like theyactually haven't had kind of what kind of
what two or five lives been doingand just like re airing old matches from

like WCW and like like they're stillairing stuff, but they haven't had an
actual like normal episode in a while. Correct, Okay, Because I mean
that explains why, you know,Finn kind of took a break from Walter
and he's doing this thing that he'sdoing now, which we'll get to,
and then why imperiums over here,Because chances are I feel like they would
have been UK Tag champions before theywould have been normal an XT tag champions.

And I think that explains to thempulling the trigger on breaking up Thatcher
and Matt because it doesn't have thesame chemistry, It doesn't have that same
draw that him and Pete did,right, I think that it could it
could have been an experimental thing,but I also think this could have been
planned because you know that that breakup like storyline wise makes sense, you

know, like all right, Idon't like this guy. Yeah, you
know, like it's obviously doesn't havethe same emotional meaning to it, but
it also makes logical sense, solet's get to that. In the main
event Thatcher versus Riddle, after Mattwas face timing with William Regal and they

had Thatcher attack him from behind.I forget what he used or what he
did, but he attacked him frombehind. Um and then they got the
match ready to go. He useda like TV monitor, Yeah, there
you go, use the TV monitor, and the ref just like washed him
do it like that's too far,man, that's too far. That that's

too far, that's too far.It is pretty funny. I'm not gonna
lie. Uh, But the mainevent itself, so this was a different
type of match, Like I feellike this was a a lighter version of
what they did with Drew Gulak andDaniel Bryant on SmackDown two days later,

which, by the way, DrewDrew Gulak his contract expired and he decided
not to resign with WWE from whatI've read, so that we'll see where
that goes. Otherwise, I thoughtthat Drew had a really strong back end
of his career, but that's neitherhere nor there. During this discussion,

Basically, what I'm saying is thatRiddle and Thatcher had a very ground based
match, which it looks like thisis what the strength of Thatcher is is.
You know, he's good at transitionalgrappling, which for some people is
like their jam. You know,like I'm I'm more of a striker guy.

(11:54):
The technical wrestlers really have to puton a show for me to be
truly truly entertained um, which likethat's why I'm so into you know,
guys like Daniel Bryan because like heis just so seamless. But I see
a little bit of that in Timothyjust when I when I watched that match,
like he was able to go fromone submission to another, you know,

like the European uppercuts. I thinkhis are very unique. I still
don't know, I gotta get usedto his pace again. What me and
Marty talked about on the last episodeor two episodes ago was Thatcher's build and
how different it looks because he's justlike he has very large broad shoulders,

but he's like all torso and likeor like what is it no torso and
all leggs, like like you know, like it's a very interesting figure.
Uh, so that kind of probablyshows like us, how he moves around
the ring, it's a little different. Um, Riddle, you never have
to be worried about Riddle can havea match with a broomstick and put on

five stars like there's no there's nothingthat you know he can't work with.
So I thought that this was good. Um he ended up getting Riddle ended
up getting the win. Thatcher gotso pissed and uh, you know,
put his his Fuji bar arm baron him, and that was how we

ended the show, which again toMarty's point, you know, like when
Thatcher was staring in the camera likelooking all menacing, like it was intimidating
for a minute, and then Istarted laughing just because it looked so like
bad. Yeah, just kind ofso corny. But progressing this storyline and
moving forward, it looks like thisis going to be the first match that

we for sure know about being inthat in your house pay per view,
which may as well just say itnow. They announced later in the show
was Triple H and Sean Michaels tellingus that an XT's gonna have a pay
per view on Sunday, June seventh, and it's twenty I believe the episode

was twenty five years to the datethat the first in Your House pay per
view happened in WWE. So they'regoing with that. They're going with w
w E n XT in Your Houseand that'll be on June seventh and Sunday.
Gonna bet that Matt Riddle and TimothyThatcher are going to be on that
card. So, by the way, any thought, any thoughts on that

I know that you sent me atTaxton were like, what the hell timeline
are we living in? Yeah,but it's cool. I like seeing that
logo, you know, it kindof brings back a little bit of memories
for five year old spin. Justthat's crazy, Like just just to see
the purple and the yellow and stufflike that. Yeah, I mean,
like I don't think it's bad oranything. It's just it's weird, Like

you would ever thought that that's somethingthat you'd see, you know. Yeah.
Yeah, And that explains, bythe way, why they got that
trademark. They got that trademark.It even has the old w logo like
above the NXT logo too. Yeah, it's a it's a beautiful looking thing.
Um. And I mean I alsohad a surprise appearance there from road
Dog in the back of the production. So that was kind of funny.

But so that was that announcement.Uh, let's talk about there were two
Cruiserweight matches. Um one of them. I actually thought the The second one
was really good. Atlas and Nice, I think that they were fine.
You know, like it's just it'slike you say, like I just need

to see a little bit more characterdrive. I guess, like even even
Nice, like he's not the mostcharismatic guy, but like you can tell
that he's just like he's always beenthe you know, the same cocky like
asshole. Uh Jake we're still learningabout and like he's so base be faced

that like it's just a little toobaby facy. Yeah, he's really not
doing it for me, man likethat, Like that tiny little promo that
he had before the match, andhe said something about Drake again by the
way, I know, he waslike, I'm as the biggest Drake Maverick
fan. I just hope that hecan pull it out and we can get

this tiebreaker between us. And hesounds like I don't even know how to
put it, like that that goodytwo shoes kid in high school, you
didn't like is what he sounds like, like I just can't take him seriously

Yeah, okay, so that wasthe first one. I believe Niece got
the win in that, by theway, right, No, I don't
think so he didn't. He didnot because he attacked the dude he attacked
Swan or not oh whatever his nameis. Oh god, no, Isaiah
Swart Scott. Yeah, you're right, Yeah, Niece, you're right.

So let's let's take it back alittle bit there, Tony Niece did lose
to chick Ellis. That was myapologies. I got that one mixed up.
Um. Later in the night,they had Isaiah sort Scott versus Jack
Gallaher. Jack Gallaher has already beenmathematically eliminated at this point in the tournament,
but can play spoiler to Isaiah SwartScott. I this was the one

I thought was a really good match. Um, I thought that I really
like swerve. Um Gallaher when he'saggressive is really good. I don't know
if it's in the cards for himto to be this like like terrible heel,
but like, yeah, um,you clearly see that he has has
that potential that to you know,be somebody, Uh like like those corner

drop kicks are absolutely nasty and youknow the strikes, the kicks to the
back on the rope aper and likethat's really good stuff. Uh, there's
something about Swerve that just it justhe's awesome. Like to me, lost,
didn't he he did? Because ofwhat you know, I think the
only people Scott involved, the onlypeople that can win our atlas Kashida to

Zawa and then Maverick if he winsout or something like that. Uh yeah,
and then Phantasmas should be included inthat. Oh yeah, he's only
by the way, Fantasma, westill didn't hear anything about that kidnapping storyline.
That's two straight weeks, so they'reletting that clearly kind of slow burn
us. Next week, doesn't hehe does, So wait for it to

show up next week. Yeah,Fantasma will take on to Zawa and then
we'll have Drake Maverick versus Kushido,which probably will be the best one of
the entire first round. I'm I'massuming at least um. But like Marty
said, uh, Scott ended upgetting the loss there, so he's out
of the contention for the Cruiserweight Championship. I'm sure that'll be a lower card

storyline they'll have um with Gallaher andNiece being you know, the the two
O five live like guys you knowthat that aren't like letting anything happen to
their their title or something. Uhlet's see what else here. Um.
Match Wise, we had a CadenCarter Alia matchup, which I'm even though

Marty's probably gonna poopoo on this,I actually saw some improvement there from ELIAHU.
Her aggressiveness was really good out ofthe out of the gate. Caden
Carter's really got something. Uh athleticismwise, Uh, she's really good.
Um, you know, a littlegreen, but I think that it's something
that can can work there as shecontinues to develop. Yeah, I mean

in the long run forgettable in thelong run, or like the and it's
forgettable, you know what I mean? Like nothing great? Yeah, I
mean, yeah exactly. Um.There was a tease that Robert Stone was
out there watching Eliah, and theconsensus was that Eliah was doing trying to

do too much to show off toRobert Stone. So Aliah ended up getting
the loss. I believe there wassome sort of it was a cradle or
something like that. And then shetried to go like plead with Robert Stone
to like keep her, you know, in his sights, and he just
kind of walked away. So that'sthat's being teased there. Uh. Let's

uh other women's match we had,um, Teagan Knox versus Indie Heartwell,
Uh, Indie has been on acouple of of raw and smackdowns, um,
because you know that that's what they'vebeen doing with these these talents.
I mean, they don't want tosay their jobbers because I don't remember it
at all. Uh. Teagan's reallygood that she did not prefer There was

not a good choke slam in thisone. Um. I remember that it
wasn't It wasn't great, um,but I don't remember the finish to this.
But Teagan ended up getting the win. Um. Again, like you
said, you know, kind offorgettable. Uh. Let's let's talk about
the the dominant women's storyline here though. Uh Eo Sharai and Rio Ripley.

They're gonna get it on next week. Um. And I believe that is
for the number one contendership to Charlotte'stitle. It wasn't really specified. I
don't think it was. It wasn'tspecified, Okay, okay, okay,
Well I'm gonna assume that's the waythey're gonna play it out, even if
it's not like official. Yeah,because those two are clearly the ones that
are, you know, at thetop other than Charlotte. Yeah. Um,

Johnny and Candice they had another dinnerher segment and is very similar to
their first one. We now knowthat, and I'll credit to NXT Creative
here they actually made something makes sense. It's like, so Johnny beats Djakovich
last week, right, So Dodjkovichwas clearly the biggest threat to Keith Lee

at the time when he had theNorth American Championship, and Gargano he put
it like, you know, likeI made him look like nothing. So
you know, there he's gonna gointo a feud with Keith Lee for the
North American Championship. Which cool becausewe haven't heard anything about the North American
Championship in a couple of weeks either. And then Candice, I still don't

know which way they're gonna go withher yet. It just seems like she's
in limbo a little bit. Butthere, you know, that's obviously.
This is like a reboot of her, so she's gonna elevate herself obviously.
Um, but Johnny and Keith,what do you think about that they're in
the in the mid card upper midcard. The entire time I saw this,

I'm just just thinking, Okay,since Mia m and Keith are a
real life couple, I wouldn't besurprised I have just turned into a mixed
match. Oh really, I didn'tknow Keith and they are, Um,
so I wouldn't be surprised if this, you know, found its way into
being a mixed tag match. Um, I'm not surprised that Johnny is the

one going for the North American Championship. Like, if that's what they're doing
now, um, it does.I'm not really shocked at Candice, you
know, calling out Mia, LikeI can see the logic behind everything that's
going on with it, but fuckme, I cannot take it. Seriously.
Explain uh, their whole heel personaand their dinner to their dinner table

things and the way that they talkand the way that they act and everything

I love Candice, I love Johnny, I've been their biggest fans for forever,

I'm not gonna lie in the nostalgia, Like just from my brain, was
just like so happy to hear thatlike generic theme song that the WWE gave
to pay per views in like thelate nineties and early two thousands, you
know what I'm talking about. Yeah, Like, it's just it was just
so awesome to hear that, andfor that to be on the same you

know episode where they talked about inyour House, I'm just like, oh
my god, we've traveled back intime. This is great. Um.
But I love how they put thatto you know, the b roll and
stuff like that. Basically, itsounds like Cross. I don't know if
this is going to be how thestory for everybody ends up, but it
sounds like Cross is moving past Tomassoalready for now. I think that comes

back and targets him or something likethat. Maybe they're just giving him time
off because he doesn't want to worksince he's got a kid. I don't
know. Yeah, yeah, that'spossible, but like it's like Cross made

all have your dreams, and theyshowed him choking out the guy that he
was facing, who, like WWEbeing WWE, just so also happened to

superimposed that they were correlated. Okay, I think that that's like a that's
a w WE move where they werelike, put a black eye up,
make him say dream. I betpeople are gonna think velveteen dream, which
I mean, I guess it kindof worked, but I think that that's
they tried to subliminally make you connectthe two um. But he never actually

even talked about if that wasn't abouthim. Okay, Okay, I got
you, all right, So what'snext for carrying here? Are we still
just going to see him come outand kill a jobber? Next week or
probably. I bet he kills acouple of jobbers before he gets into a
real thing. Yeah, he usuallyit usually takes a little bit of time.

Uh. We had a undisputed EraZoom meeting. Uh, which,
by the way, we finally sawKyle. Kyle's got a beard. Now
where they did, they're goofy dude. Uh, it's it was good to
see him. But they basically afterlike catching up and stuff like that,

we're talking about Dexter Loomis and likewhy is that in their business and stuff
like that, and they all votedfor Roddy simultaneously to take them on.
So it looks like we got Roddyversus Loomis happening. Is that next week
or two weeks from now whatever inthe near future, so that will happen.
Uh, is Louis Is Loomis gonnabe the next guy to go after

Cole? Dude? Maybe are theyare they going that quick? I know
you are, I know you are. But that's kind of crazy. That
is a little fast. But um, who knows, man, really,
who knows? I know, Ineed to continue. It's just like I
gotta continue tuning in. This isgreat. Uh, you know, like

the whole show. It's really hardto, you know, pay attention sometimes,
but the little, the little thingsdo keep you coming back, and
stuff like that is a perfect example. We also had Finn Balor versus Cameron
Grimes, which I thought was areally good match. We also found out
who attacked Finn Balor before his matchwith Dream a month ago, and as

soon as he showed up, Ithought to myself, oh God, Marty's
gonna hate that. But I thoughtto myself also, I was like,
actually like it. It was DamienPriest came out and he whipped out the
nightstick and hit Balor on the legwhen he was on the apron, and
then Grimes hit This was actually moredevastating than a normal double stomp. He

went like on top of his shoulderblades and put him down. And I
don't know how Finn sold that,because clearly it was going to turn into
an ugly looking thing, but Finnsold it beautifully and Grimes ended up getting
a win over Finn, which hugefor Grimes. That's easily his biggest win,
even if it was, you know, by that circumstance, um he

still got hit, hit his finishand he won the match. So that's
huge for Cameron Grimes to beat aformer NXT champion and former you know,
WWE champion, w Universal champion,and you know all those accolades like that's
huge for him. Uh So thatwas that was big time. That was
big time. I believe we coveredall of what happened on the episode.

There were I believe two matches announcednext week. Correct, well, they
announced the two cruiserweight matches and thenright I believe yep. Uh who's winning
that? Or is that going tobe a dirty finish too? No?
Nothing, get a triple threat.I'm really uncertain. I'm saying we get

a triple threat. I'm saying weget a triple threat. Wouldn't be surprised.
I'm I'm uncertain what happens with that. I'd be good with a triple
threat, by the way, becausethat's just awesome, straight up austiness.
Uh oh yeah, I forgot too. They had a little thing with Dakota
Kai and Rockhall Gonzalez. Oh thatwas actually pretty good. It was it

was basically talking about Dakota being overshadowedby Tigan's rehab process. Um when they
were filming hers, I was overon the other side too, like blah
blah blah. That was good.Yeah, that was actually that was very
well done. It gave her Idon't want to say that at mensification the
heel justified interactions, but it gaveher reasoning and it fleshed it out,

which was something that it's it's actuallythat it should have aired fucking months ago
before their their match together. Yeah, they were a little they're a little
late on it. Okay, whatever, it's fine. Uh, shout out
to Undisputed Era. Apparently they've beentogether for over a thousand days. Saw
that on on an XT's account,So that's cool, that's wild. It's

funny. Everyone's like, Roddy,you haven't been a part of it for
a thousand days, you're like eighthundred. Um. Yeah, I think
