This week we are talking about BloodyMuscle, Bodybuilder and Hell aka The Japanese
Evil Dead. This is a veryuh short, but very packed movie that

the Evil Dead, and it's gotjust enough originality about it to kind of
separate it. But you can absolutelysee every bit of what they pulled from
The Evil Dead. Now, alittle bit of background before we jump into

to this. So, the EvilDead was such a fucking huge hit overseas,
and a lot of Italian filmmakers wereinfluenced by a lot of this shit,

up becoming like a seven film series, and it was, yeah, it

these were supposed to be sequels tolike Night of the Living Dead and all

had shit like Evil Dead Trap.But you also had a lot of shit
that was in America, like theUnited States, that were that was made
like a Frostbier, wind Beast,Savage Harvest, Demon Wind Chill Factor,

up with this guy which he playshis own father in this movie, because

look like him and had the manners. I mean, I didn't read anything

Japan, like the culture over there, there's like its own sense of humor
and it's very reaction based, right, And I fucking love that. So
Shinji who he plays a character namedShinji in this movie, which is the
main character. So in the nineteenseventies, his dad kills his lover that
is possessed by a ghost in thehouse, and it's reminists of Ash and

Linda. Yes, it is solike there's even some shots where she's licking
the knife that she fucking you know, tried to stab him with and all
this other stuff, and he windsup like quote accidentally killing her. And
it's the whole bit where Bruce Campbellbut you know, he had that necklace
that he gave Linda or whatever,so he like the necklace comes into play
where the spirit actually like goes intothe chain and it's a whole kind of

like shot for shot thing of likewhen Bruce Campbell's digging the grave outside of
the cabin, but they don't gooutside of the cabin. He's like,

That had to have been a resultof everybody being like, you want to

to this. So, the EvilDead was such a fucking huge hit overseas,
and a lot of Italian filmmakers wereinfluenced by a lot of this shit,

you've ever heard of the film LacasaNo. Okay, Well that actually wound
up becoming like a seven film series, and it was, yeah, it
was an unofficial They were unofficial sequelsto the original Evil Dead. Are they

Italian zombie films that had come outwhere it was just like, okay,
these were supposed to be sequels tolike Night of the Living Dead and all

had shit like Evil Dead Trap.But you also had a lot of shit
that was in America, like theUnited States, that were that was made
like a Frostbier, wind Beast,Savage Harvest, Demon Wind Chill Factor,

dailies like right after shooting, sohe blindly went and shot the whole fucking
thing and it turns right, Butit turned out that the shit that he
shot didn't work at all, sohe had to scrap it and completely start
over again. But now he can'tget the people that he worked with to

how it took four fucking years tomake, and how they had to like
because you can visually see Bruce Campbellage in that movie. Yeah, yeah,
so they had to do like whatyou know, the Raimi and Campbell

fake shimp or whatever. So Fukuzawahad to fucking shoot whatever he could with

stress aged this entire time. Butwhat's really ridiculous is like you can see
where certain pickup shots happened in thismovie, and you can see him like
he's got like a clean shaven facein one shot a five o'clock shadow and
another again very parallel to Bruce Campbell, which makes this fucking work as a
remake of this movie. Not evenjust that, but his fucking facials,

like he looked like a Japanese BruceCampbell. He really fucking did. And
let's get into the movie, dude, because goddamn, okay, it opens
up with this guy which he playshis own father in this movie, because
it's supposed to be you know,years before or whatever. I love that
you immediately were like, bro thefit. Yeah, it's absolutely Bruce Campbell.

The thing is is like it wasalmost immediately apparent that he really did
look like him and had the manners. I mean, I didn't read anything
about this movie, but I canalmost guarantee that he spent hours in the

Yeah, over and over again,but almost to a tee though. It's
funny as hell. Oh yeah no. And and he gets the style of
humor that is in the Evil Deadfranchise. Yeah, there's like slapstick,

Japan, like the culture over there, there's like its own sense of humor
and it's very reaction based, right, And I fucking love that. So
Shinji who he plays a character namedShinji in this movie, which is the
main character. So in the nineteenseventies, his dad kills his lover that
is possessed by a ghost in thehouse, and it's reminists of Ash and

Linda. Yes, it is solike there's even some shots where she's licking
the knife that she fucking you know, tried to stab him with and all
this other stuff, and he windsup like quote accidentally killing her. And
it's the whole bit where Bruce Campbellbut you know, he had that necklace
that he gave Linda or whatever,so he like the necklace comes into play
where the spirit actually like goes intothe chain and it's a whole kind of

like shot for shot thing of likewhen Bruce Campbell's digging the grave outside of
the cabin, but they don't gooutside of the cabin. He's like,
you know what, I'm just gonnause this shovel and I'm gonna pry up
this to tommy floor and I'm gonnaax the shit out of the wood underneath
it, and we're just gonna we'rejust gonna bury her under the house.
That had to have been a resultof everybody being like, you want to
go outside and do this, No, everybody's gonna stare at us. We

live in the suburbs. Nobody thinkswe're shooting a movie here. It might

a gold mine of movies like this. So it's kind of like, what

viewed Lost Faith, uh huh,I know, I know you remember that,

also a prime example of what thismovie is, which is the shot on

so Visual Vengeance did a great jobin bringing this back, and it's still
gets much more of a clear likelook at it, but there's still very

love the aesthetic. Yeah I didtoo, And it gets a lot more
stylistically charged if you will, likeas the movie progressor which I fucking love.

everything. There's a lot of cameraangles, obviously influenced by Raymi. And
then the movie kind of kicks intogear right here. Not not that the

we were watching this, it's asixty two minute runtime, but there's no

time wasted in this call it someforty one because it's all killer, no

starts like this is all the EvilDead references, where like the doors are
locking on their own, the windowsare shutting, the doors are shutting,
and then the medium, which Ilove the makeup effects where it slowly goes
from his natural skin cone to likethis real bluish gray hue all over him,

which it's makeup obviously, but dude, he's like fucking with him real
bad, like giggling the whole fuckingtime, and like beating that shit out
of him. He's like like tryingto stab him with a knife. And
oh, there's a reference to whenShelley gets stabbed in The Evil Dead and
