Speaker 6 (01:18):
Happy birthday?
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Do you I'm we don't want to half yeah, oh yeah,
I just need to do a little bit in their own. Yeah. No,
I'm not gonna finish that.
Speaker 7 (01:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
The pre show was, this is an a.
Speaker 6 (01:34):
Family show, guys.
Speaker 4 (01:35):
We can't be doing with your cowboys sponsored coffee a
cowboy sponsor.
Speaker 1 (01:40):
Totally. It's Black Riffle coffee. It is Black Rifle.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
I will say Black Rifle hooked us up for the
draft and they gave us these these cans of energy drink.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
Because they knew it wasn't I knew it was needed
because they said, hey, you're going to be working long hours.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Nothing like Black Rifle energy. And it's honestly, they're a phenomenal.
I still have a couple left, actually only a couple
left up my desk.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
It's been like a daily thing.
Speaker 6 (02:03):
For holding out on us. Dude, No, I'm you have
dead stock Black Rifle coffee.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Nick Eatman and I have shared a can.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
We split it into a cup and we split it
in half so that way we're not like overdoing the caffeine. Yah,
And like we've split one almost every day. So you
don't want to draft. They want to partake part take.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Yeah, that's the thing.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
I'm already amped on Draft weekend, got the adrenaline pump
in everything rolling.
Speaker 6 (02:26):
But no, is it a little bittersweet now that the
draft is over?
Speaker 1 (02:29):
And I like it.
Speaker 6 (02:30):
I know it's yeah, like the Draft show or the
draft season is synonymous with Kyle yeomans Man, and it
just feels like, I mean, you're working so hard for
this one weekend and then when it's over, do you
feel a sense of bitter sweetness?
Speaker 4 (02:44):
Yeah, it's definitely been a bittersweet because you put it
so much work into it.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
And I mean you guys can attest to this too.
Speaker 4 (02:48):
It's the same thing like when a season coast comes
to an end, right you've put it.
Speaker 6 (02:53):
Safe to say, Kyle yeomens is the draft don't know
of Dallas Cowis dot com?
Speaker 1 (02:57):
Is that fair to give you some I appreciate it.
The UH and nothing else.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
The amount of yeah, nothing else, the amount of hours
and study and film and all the different things that
you kind of pour into at the trips you take
to mobile into Indianapolis and to UH to be there
and try and talk to these players and stuff. Like
when it's all kind of said and done and it's
Hayes in the barn. You get to see where everybody
goes from prospect wise. It is it's a bittersweet feeling,
(03:23):
but this is the exciting time for me because now
I get to really dive in on each of these
players that are Cowboys.
Speaker 8 (03:29):
What about your way too early mock draft.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
For I'm not Dane Brugler, I'll throw one out there.
What are we going to start talking about it?
Speaker 4 (03:38):
We got to start that covers Arch Manning really the
next quarterback of the Manning trio. Now I can't wait.
I think twenty twenty six. I already can't wait for
the draft. But now it's time to ramp up to
training camp, and it's a slow ramp up, and we
get these mini camps underway. You get OTA's very very soon. Pat,
what are some news and notes over Rookie Mini.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
This past week?
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Well, no news in regards to any types of transactions
that the Cowboys did. They did workout Donovan Smith, quarterback
out of Houston Slash Texas Tech. He was here at
Rookie Minnie camp these past couple of days. No signing
of that of him just yet. Now that could just
be the Cowboys just doing some due diligence as they
tend to do this time of the year. We'll see
if anything comes of that, but mostly it's just notes
(04:22):
as far as you know, some of the conversations like
Tommy myself, Nicole, yourself, Kyle, we were able to talk
to I believe every one of these eighteen rookies pick
every drive pick over the past few days, and uh,
it's just a matter of some of the guys that
kind of stuck out to us both in what we
observed and will basically amounted to just a walk through
(04:43):
last week. But at the same time, you look at
a guy like Savone Revel for example, a little funny
little anecdote there, which is he was trying to sneak
his way into into drills with the other guys before
Brown and the training staff actually caught him and were like, no, sir, sir,
that just relax young man.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Relaxed.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
But I mean, you'd love to see energy like that
from a guy like that, especially from a gentleman who
is coming off of a season ding knee injury that
occurred in September, And a lot of Cowboys fans are wondering, well,
why did the Cowboys use a pick on a guy
who may not be ready for week one, but by
fall intents and purposes and by all accounts, he's on
(05:22):
track for week one. He's on track to take the
practice field at some point in ox Star likely likely
will start on the PUP list, the physically unable to
perform list, But it doesn't look like barn a setback,
doesn't look like he'll start the season on the pup list,
which is a much bigger deal.
Speaker 6 (05:35):
But granted a third round pick, mind you, that could
have gone in the first if he was healthy.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Correct, And we talked about this last week in the
post draft edition of Talking Cowboys. If not for the injury,
he's the best cornerback in this class not named Travis Hunter.
So for you to get that kind of value at three.
And keep in mind doctor Dan Cooper, the Cowboys lea physician.
He's who, you know, the gentleman who did the procedure
in the first place. So Cowboys have all the information
(06:00):
medically on savone Revel, but then when again Revel, but
then again, when you started.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Talking he switched that on, he switched.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
But when you started to talk about whether it be
Revel or Toya, A lot of some of these other
guys Tyler Booker and and he said call him easy
as ROCKU. Right, A lot of these rookies, they're coming
in with the right energy as they should, and you
just love to see that, especially considering you have such
a turnover in the coaching regime too. There's a lot
(06:28):
of fresh minds in the building and it just seems
to be coming along so far, so good.
Speaker 6 (06:33):
Well, one thing about the news and notes and specifically
the transactions. I was listening to a little show called
Talking Cowboys last week where I was promised I was
guaranteed a wide receiver on Friday or Saturday of last
week by one Patrick.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
And here we are on a Tuesday, I guarantee saren
damn d It kind of sounded like a stamp of
no C. You got that, like you got the no
C you get you know what's going to happen? Now?
I need some answers with the interest is still there?
Speaker 2 (07:06):
Right, as far as the interest between the Cowboys and
Mark Hooper and then Ken Ellen is an option, I mean,
the options are still there.
Speaker 8 (07:12):
They just haven't pulled the trigger yet.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Let's see, we'll see where he believe.
Speaker 5 (07:17):
Well, well, I'm gonna back my guy up here, technically, don't, don't.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
Don't fight his battle for him. Hold On, hold on,
hold on.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
If you're talking about adding wide receivers, you got two
of them in the UDFA ranks, Trey Shawn Holding from
Oregon and Josh Kelly from tech Tech. Now, am I
saying either one of those guys are gonna be a
wide receiver too? Absolutely not. But there are two guys
that you know you take a chance on. Trey Shawn
Holds a guy that Junior Adams coached at Oregon and
was able to bring along in his career. Josh Kelly
is a guy that's gotten better every year of his
(07:47):
collegiate career. Obviously, there's a steep ladder for them to climb,
and I'm not saying that they're gonna make even make
this roster.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
But I appreciate what you're trying to do here. I
appreciate it. But here ThReD it out.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
Yeah, we knew the Holden was on the roster this
time last week when we were having the guarantee.
Speaker 6 (08:07):
This guarantee, the Garon darnd Come on, we need.
Speaker 1 (08:12):
A wide receiver too.
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Boys do need a wide receiver to wait and just
tell them.
Speaker 8 (08:18):
Just go upstairs and say, hey, what's the hold up.
Speaker 1 (08:21):
I'm sure they love me thrilled.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Yeah, No, I mean he take this fire fit up
there and say like, hey, the forces is with you
wide receivers?
Speaker 2 (08:34):
Wowang, I mean honestly, I mean it's a great question.
It's a great point that you put out there. We
all know that the Cowboys need a wide receiver too.
They know the Cowboys need a wide receiver to Stephen
Jones has said it in so many words that they
know that. You know, whether you're talking about Toberd or
Brooks or whomever else they have on the roster, they
know they have a definitive wide receiver three in that lot,
(08:54):
Jonathan Mingle. But they haven't seen any of those guys
yet step up and say I'm wide. So knowing that
as a front office and me knowing that you have
interested in guys like Amari Cooper potentially Keenan Allen. Why
Deontae Johnson went off the board, Tyler Lockett went off
the board pre draft. If you're talking about the higher
level free agents that give you confidence of wide receiver two,
(09:18):
you might not have as much time as you think
with that because they're only like two really that come
to mind, right, So we'll see because up next to
OTAs in a couple of weeks, and I think as
we get closer to mandatory mini camp in mid June,
I think that's when they'll get more likely to make
a decision on if they're going to make one there.
Speaker 6 (09:36):
I think time proof and consistency has shown you that
the Dallas Cowboys are not on anybody's time. And as
much as you want to say, like oh yeah, by
by the end of this week, we'll have you know,
that situation figured out.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
Now what I did say, what I actually did say,
But if they were to make a movie, it wouldn't
have been before or last week in anyway, because they're
playing the compig formula.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
That's all right, But back that's in the background. What
in the Jordan are you talking about? Now? Now that's
in the compic formula. Like that's done. Yeah, that's over.
You can do that.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
Yeah, now you can do it like right now, immediately,
right now, today, five minutes from now, preferably before the
show is over, because I know how you billy, we
know how you guys get down. You wait until Talking
Cowboys is concluded for the week, and then transaction.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
I think it's to talk about it next two. I
think it's just real quick.
Speaker 5 (10:26):
I don't want to take up too much of the segment,
but I think it's interesting to look at. Okay, when
you look at this team right now, how do you
think they're a wide receiver two away from being a contender.
I don't think so. So the question for me would be, Okay,
do you look at the free agent market and say, okay,
give me an Amari Cooper or a Keenan Allen for
a year so we've got our wide receiver two for
twenty twenty five. Or do you think a trade maybe
(10:48):
for a younger guy who maybe has a couple more
years on his deal or would be a cheaper option
for you if you do resign him, can be an
option for you down the line. Is there somebody out
there that you like enough that can be your receiver
to and you can either pay them or trade for
them and give up draft capital in the future more
than likely and just say, okay, we're banking in on
(11:09):
this guy.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
What what is the more intriguing option to you?
Speaker 5 (11:11):
Because I don't know if there is. I think if
I had to pick, I would probably lean towards the trade.
Speaker 6 (11:15):
But didn't you do that at the end of the
trade deadline last season with Mingo?
Speaker 5 (11:20):
They you think you did that and I don't want
to ablished. Yeah, I think they're looking for established, They're
looking for proven. So you know, that's why the Amari
Coopers and the Keenan Allens makes sense. But that's not
to say that there aren't more established receivers out there
that you can acquire via trade.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
You asked the question initially, do you feel like the
team is a wide receiver away from being contenders? And
it was funny, I was talking about ramping up the
training camp right.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Part of this time period for me is on.
Speaker 4 (11:46):
Building my spotderboards for the for the season that what
we use for play by play purposes and see if
I can show that up. Got like my template there
on my computer that has all the depth chart or
what I would think to be the depth chart of
the Cowboys. I was doing stonks over there, trying to
it's it's football stunks. When I went through each position,
(12:08):
I felt really good, and actually I found myself surprised
at how good I felt in certain spots. Quarterback of course,
tight end of course, what offensive line now with the
selection of Tyler Booker, absolutely special teams. You're one of
the best in the NFL defensive line. I think there's
some depth there. I mean, I have Sam Williams and
Peyton Turner as edge rushers that don't even get a
(12:29):
bio line on my spotderboard because they're so far down
the depth chart. But they're still gonna play an impactful time.
Same thing at linebacker once the Marven Overshow's back. I
feel pretty good about what linebacker looks like. The only
spots I don't feel great at are wide receiver that's
a big, huge question mark, running back and corner. And
corner I think can be fine, but you need guys
(12:51):
to step up in a big way like Kaylin Carson
and Savona Ravel so rebel so with all I gotta
get back into that. So when it comes to a
wide receiver too, I think it can help you out tremendously.
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Probablymendously.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Do I think they're contenders over teams like Philadelphia. No,
but we just saw the Washington Commanders go to the
NFC title game. I don't see why this team, if healthy,
could be as good or better than the command.
Speaker 5 (13:21):
Well that's the one thing one staying healthy because regardless,
you're gonna deal with injuries throughout the course of a year,
and that's the thing, and you just don't know where
it's gonna happen. And last year was a year where
you just kind of get snake back.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
They're better built now to handle injuries as they were
last year.
Speaker 5 (13:36):
Absolutely they are. They have more they have more depth,
no question about that. But I still think this team
is a couple of pieces away. What would you have
to add receiver. I'm looking for wide receiver two. I'm
looking for more depth on the defensive one, especially at
the tackle positions. There's still a little bit light there.
Sure you've got two seventh round added.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
I like who. I'm not saying I'm disliking Todded, but
we don't. We don't.
Speaker 5 (14:00):
There's the other thing is there's so many unknowns. Like
if we go into the season and they say, Okay,
Jonathan Mingo is our wide receiver two, which I mean
it's it's an option. Because we talked about they traded
a fourth round pick for him last year. We didn't
just we just really didn't get to see much of him.
He hasn't played with Dak Prescott. We don't know what
he had, what he is yet, So there's a big
if there. The other if is the corners. Does Trayvon
(14:21):
Diggs get healthy at any point and so go and
ravel go at the start of the season.
Speaker 7 (14:25):
Sorry, go.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Take a while.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
And then even if you get an established wide receiver, two,
do you feel good enough about the running back room
where it looks like they're gonna go buy committee at
least to start to have a solid run game. So
there's just so many ifs for me, and there's so
many unknowns for for me to definitively sit here and say, Okay, yeah,
this team is a contender on paper. Yes, they're much
better than last year. And this is a team that
(14:51):
can compete with you know, the Commanders. They did it
last year, they beat him last year. That's part of
my level yet. But but the Eagles are the standard,
right absolutely, And of course it is, and I think
you're still a couple of pieces away from that.
Speaker 6 (15:06):
Probably in a lot of ways, it kind of feels like,
at least looking at the post mortem of the draft class,
it feels like last year when we were looking at
running back in the second and the third round and
you see all of the running backs fall out of
the third round last year, and now we're looking at
it where we had wide receiver almost guaranteed in the
first round. I think we were all sort of on
(15:26):
that train. We had many episodes saying, all right, which
wide receiver are we taken in the first round. That
obviously didn't happen the cards fell how they did. But
now we're looking at a draft class that does not
include wide receiver, which is a very stark resemblance to
running back in the draft last year. I hope it
(15:47):
is not held in the same adult in the same
way that running back was last year. We brought in
Zeke that didn't work out. I don't know, man, it
really just feels like this is a huge question mark,
as you said, as you alluded to, I am just
really hoping that the issue is not solved. We're going
to go into training camp with the core that we
(16:09):
have now.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
I think that's the one spot that can help you
at least feel like a contender. At least feel that
way because I, like I said, top competitive in our division,
I don't.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
Think they're as far off as what the general consensus
is around the league, and the fan base.
Speaker 1 (16:25):
I don't think they're that far off. This is not
a seven. They went seven to ten with the team
they went with last year. There's no way there were
wrecked last year. It was old injury.
Speaker 4 (16:34):
Wrack and they still had seven wins, which that was
a credit to Mia mccarthur. We had that whole conversation
before they they moved on from him and hired Brian Schottenheimer.
Seven wins last year. I think this is a better team.
Am I saying that they're super Bowl bound?
Speaker 1 (16:49):
No? But what else is the goal?
Speaker 4 (16:52):
I mean, what you got to set the standard somehow
in your own building, and that's what Brian Schottenheimer's trying.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
It is definitely on paper on paper, on paper, on paper,
on paper. This is a much better team than the
one over this time last year. I mean, the guy
you lost was Jordan will Right, But then if you
look at last year's free agency, what did you get
other than Eric Kendricks from outside the buildings?
Speaker 1 (17:15):
You know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (17:16):
So if you compare, you did Okay, you did it,
you did didn't work out?
Speaker 1 (17:22):
You did it?
Speaker 2 (17:22):
Did not work out to that point, right, So you
fast forward to this year's free agency yes, you went
out and you got the Solomon Thomases of the world,
and then you reunited with Dante Fowler. You convinced him
to come on back home after he left to go
with Dan Quinn in the first place with the likes
right and get to an NFC famanship and still chose
to come back right, So you ad that you had
(17:43):
the other moves that were made, and then you look
at this particular draft class and the consensus is, although
we could nitpick, and we have nitpicked, and there are
things that we didn't necessarily like about this particular class,
and me personally, it was like the value on Shamar James,
where I love Shamar James.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
Is the place, but that's being picky on it. That's
what I.
Speaker 8 (18:01):
Made keyword nitpicking.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
The general consensus is the Cowboys nailed this draft to
the wall. That's the general consistent even across So when
you look at their activity and free agency and you
combine it with what they were able to do in
this year's draft, on paper, this is a much better team.
Now the question is can they manifest that onto the field?
And that's kind of where we are and what I
don't want to hear and it's crazy because trauma response,
(18:26):
Tommy said, running back by committee, Maybe I don't.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Want to hear the C word when it comes to
the run scene.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
And now I see what you're right, because it's still
to be determined, right So from the analyst aspect, one
accurate statement, but from a foreshadowing aspect and also looking
in hindsight, by committee approach, it didn't work for them
at wide receiver in.
Speaker 8 (18:48):
The post Deads era.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
Okay, it didn't work for them in a running back
situation last year. Let's just do away with the whole
committee thing and say, okay, we're going to go into
training camp without even considering that this could be a
potential committee approach, and just look at those guys and say,
who's going to be RB one, r B two, RB
three goal?
Speaker 1 (19:06):
From there?
Speaker 8 (19:06):
Who's going to be w R two, w R three,
w R four, w R five goals?
Speaker 4 (19:10):
And if that's the case, I'm scared because that's the
case that I don't exactly because.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
Here's the thing as it stands right now, who's your
starting running back?
Speaker 4 (19:18):
It's problem Williams, and I would call him a bell cow.
I don't think you have a bell cow. A three
down back on this.
Speaker 6 (19:25):
Team, which if he is running back by committee.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
You needed tandem and your RB three needs to be
insurance for one of those right in that particular.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
I'm with you. That's but that's the thing.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
If if you want to ditch the bi committee approach,
you need not necessarily a bell cow, sure, but a
guy who can who can handle the ball for a
definitive r definitive guy who's going to lead the way
is John Williams.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
That I mean, he's health he's been okay, don't.
Speaker 6 (19:50):
Approach, go and get and we're saying all these things
and we're being nitpicky. Granted, Philip in the YouTube comment says,
I can't watch these homers anymore. He's homophobic.
Speaker 7 (20:01):
All right.
Speaker 6 (20:01):
It's like listening to four Mickey Specknole's without the grumpiness,
is what he says.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
As as we sit as we're sitting, as we sit here,
and we just told you they need weapons.
Speaker 4 (20:11):
Yes, we feel like they're closer than most people think.
But that's because we watch ball, That's because we watch film.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
Making comment. That's set.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
Thanks for listening, all right, when we come back, we're
gonna give you our actual YouTube comment of the day,
because that one was dumb.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
When we come back, plus, we're also going to take
our calls. We're going to take your calls.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
If Philip, if you want to call and give us
an actual conversations, go ahead and hop on the phone line.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
Eight eight eight eight five five two two nine seven.
Speaker 4 (20:43):
We'll talk about it when we come back with more
talking cowboys right after this. If you're looking for fresh
American roasted coffee that gives back, you need to head

local grocery store and roast yourself some Black Rifle coffee.
Speaker 1 (21:17):

the kyl.
Speaker 2 (23:54):
Always shouts out to my fellow Star Wars nerds, Oh yeah, lasted,
I is terrible, real quick in the comments while we're talking,
let me know which side of the for the Force
your own?
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Are you a Jedi?
Speaker 8 (24:02):
Are you you.
Speaker 6 (24:03):
Know, on the side of Ian Johnson isn't directing?
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Are you a Capaine? We're not going to start that. Well,
there were a lot of people that movies. First of all,
there were a.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Lot of people trying to figure out whether or not
Kylo Wrenn was a good villain.
Speaker 2 (24:14):
Or he saw somebody say, Kylo is weak sauce you
could meet me outside.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
On that Oh you think he's not.
Speaker 8 (24:21):
No, Kylo is not weak sauce.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
He's not. He's not. He had a lighter potential. I
agree with somebody said he had he did.
Speaker 6 (24:27):
I agree with awesome.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Yeah, that's what's not that.
Speaker 6 (24:33):
Last listen, Last Jedi's it's notwithstanding. Last Jedi is a
horrendous movie, a horrendous picture. It was rush, not technically cinema.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Aside from that, because I agree with that. Aside from that,
Kylo Wren is not weak sauce. No, but stop comparing
him to Vader, because that nobody's saying. Nobody compared no Orange.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
Thank you, Tommy, good analysis, the rest in peace to
the Great James Earl.
Speaker 1 (24:55):
Jones, Tommy. Star Wars is a show that was debut.
I'm well aware, Thank you, thank you. Thanks appreciate making
sure what's your favorite starts a new hope?
Speaker 6 (25:06):
That was a safe that was you played it safe there.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
I mean, all right, Switzerland, what are we doing? All right,
let's go to Nebby and Maryland. Nebbi, you're on talking cowboys.
What's going on?
Speaker 11 (25:24):
Hey, hi guys, thank you so much for taking my call. Listen,
uh uh uh, I've got a few quick points and
then I'll hang up and listen to what you have
to say.
Speaker 7 (25:40):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (25:40):
The first point I want to make is, uh, no
one expects us uh to do anything. Uh, but I
really have faith in this team. Uh Uh. What I'm
saying is I believe we can get back to the playoffs,
(26:05):
and and if we're able to get into the playoffs,
of course anything can anything can happen. Uh. Plus, uh,
do you believe as I do that Cooper BBI can
turn himself into uh into an All Pro into an
(26:38):
All Pro at center? And the last point, the last
question I have uh uh is uh uh do you
believe that that Connor Riley's presence will help increase Duas
(27:09):
budge chances making it the Dallas Cowboys this upcoming season.
I take care, Thank you so much for being patient
with me, and have a great week. Bye.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
Thanks Neviy appreciate you as always.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Thanks Buddy, Nebby nos Ball brought up a couple good
points there.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
I want to start with the first part where he
talked about faith.
Speaker 4 (27:38):
Having faith kind of goes back to our conversation in
the first segment. Is this team on paper ready to
be a contender? No, But up to this point, all
the off season moves, at least from a coaching staff
standpoint and from a culture building standpoint, had been solid.
They've done a good job of building the culture. Now
everything is going to be great and dandy while you're
(27:59):
not losing in football games, because when you start one
to three, or if you have yourself a little bit
of a losing streak in the middle of the season,
things may not feel as fine and dandy as they
are now. But at least at the moment, the faith
around the building is that they do believe in Brian Schottenheimer.
Speaker 1 (28:14):
They believe in the culture that he's building, and it just.
Speaker 4 (28:16):
It feels like a complete overhaul than what it was previously.
Speaker 1 (28:22):
And I mean, I've been here at the.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
End of the Garrett era, in the beginning of the
MacArthur era, and now into the beginning of the Schottenheimer era.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
This offseason is.
Speaker 4 (28:29):
Unlike anyone that I've felt internally as compared to what
it feels externally outside of the building.
Speaker 6 (28:35):
And for any lack of experience that head coach that
you have with a young Brian Schottenheimer taking over, you
feel like the staff outside of Brian Schottenheimer is possibly
the best in the league, like it feels like the
staff around him is like taught. I mean, these guys
a noteball obviously, And you look at a guy like
Derek Foster who's going to have his hands full figuring
(28:57):
out this running back by committee situation. I'm really intrigued
by how that's going to look and how we're going
to look in training camp, Like that's going to be
a very very interesting battle. Not that he's making any
decisions on how the roster plays out. Maybe he does,
maybe he doesn't, But I mean, how is he going
to get the most performance out of the current group
of running backs that he has.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
I'm going to be a quick mouthpiece for the fandom
and with his next point when it comes to faith
as a Cowboys fan, right now, there's not much to
have faith in their small pockets within this current situation
to have some faith to have some faith in. Right,
So when you talk about like Ceedie Lamb having taken
the next step and showing you not only his toughness
but his ability to lead, Michael Parson's taking the next
(29:39):
step in his leadership, showing up to voluntary OTAs despite
the contract being negotiated. Things like that and you know,
there are things to be positive about one hundred percent
Cooper BB, which we'll get to in a moment. Taller Smith.
I mean, of course you can have faith in Tyler Smith.
But when you from a fan standpoint, when you're coming
off of a seven and ten season and you have
(29:59):
not only a new head coach, but it's a first
time head coach, you don't know what to have faith
in yet when it comes to Schottenheimer. So while the
Cowboys have faith in him, and rightfully so, especially considering
his lineage, how long he's been in the league, his
relationships which have helped him build one of what on
paper looks like one of the strongest coaching staffs in
the NFL, those things that don't necessarily translate to the
(30:20):
fandom because again, they haven't seen the head coach version
of Schottenheimer yet, so they don't know what his culture
looks like. They don't know what his play calling looks like,
because it's been Mike McCarthy's play calling. So from the
faith aspect, it's completely justifiable that fans lack that at
the moment. As a macro, again, in micro spurts to
see Michael Parsons, some of these other guys. You have
(30:44):
faith there, but there are so many pockets where the
faith lacks because there's simply no doubt of the base
of well.
Speaker 4 (30:50):
And that's why being in the building, we have that
opportunity to kind of say that to the fans of like, Okay,
here's the thing, this is what we're seeing, this is
what we want to see.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
We have a different viewpoint than fans do.
Speaker 4 (31:03):
And some of us in the building were fans before
we got into the building, such as myself. I mean,
I grew up at Waco Cowboys fan. I mean I've
been around the team or just been over there. He's
got a star tattoo on his arm. I mean, it's
a part of it. But once you get in here,
you have your your professional cap on. You got to
see what the vibe is, what the building feels like,
(31:25):
and it does. It feels completely different around here than
it did at any point through the last two regimes.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Yeah, I'll say this.
Speaker 5 (31:31):
I mean, I'm newer to the building and I caught
the back end of the Macarthy era, and I you know,
didn't grow up a Cowboys fan or anything like that.
I'm just kind of a neutral party here and try
to keep it that way. And it is very easy
to get bought into what Brian Schottenheim is doing from
a fans perspective and from just he's a guy that
he's a personality that draws you in and you just
kind of naturally believe in him. You naturally believe in him,
(31:53):
and that's awesome, That is great. He's an incredible human
being and he's gonna you know, everybody's rooting for him.
It doesn't win you foot and that's the unfortunate part
about this business sometimes is that you've got to win,
and that's what you're going to be judged on at
the end of the day, is winning football games.
Speaker 1 (32:07):
And he knows that, he said it to us before.
He knows that that it's.
Speaker 5 (32:10):
All comes down to winning games. So I think gonna
be brought up a good point here, Fellas. I know
he had other questions. I don't want to take away
from it. He used the word expectations. What are the
expectations for this team?
Speaker 1 (32:20):
Because here's the thing.
Speaker 5 (32:21):
On paper, this is a team that I could see
getting into the playoffs, fighting for a playoff spot. Absolutely,
they're better than last year, and last year they go
into the last three or four weeks they had a chance.
Got to be the expect right, that's that I think
If that's the expectation, But do you is there any
necessary is there any necessary way to temper them or
is there need to temper them considering you've got a
(32:43):
first time head coach or does that just go out
the window and like, look, you've you've got to you've
got to turn around here and you're one because you
got you got three twelve and five seasons with Mike McCarthy.
You take a step back at seven and ten. Do
you look at this year and say, Okay, we got
to get back or is it a you know, is
there going to be a learning I think there'll be
a learning curve with some sort you have to have.
Speaker 1 (33:05):
To get past the first round.
Speaker 5 (33:06):
But is that a Is that a reasonable expectation for
this team as it stands right now.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
As it stands on paper, as long as because they're
still missing WR two for example, who's your RB one,
RB too tandem?
Speaker 1 (33:19):
What does that look like?
Speaker 8 (33:20):
There's still much to be worked out between now and
week one.
Speaker 4 (33:23):
As we said on May sixth, twenty twenty five, what
would be your expectation.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
Minimum playoffsky, but simply getting to the playoffs.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
If I had to hand you a blank sheet of
paper in your.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Life, count, I'll where would you Cowboys get to the
playoffs and then lose in the first round. I personally
am not willing to excuse that away as first time
head coach because albeit first time head coach, how long
has Shoty been in the league. The knowledge that he has,
the knowledge that he brings in from his late legend
of a father and Marty, this is not a tradition
(34:00):
should know first time head coach. Right, So we're talking
to non traditional first time head coach who comes in
with a lot of positive baggage football IQ things he's learned.
He's constructed this staff who is a great mix of
young promising guys like a Junior Adams coming in from
Oregon as well as Connor Riley coming in from Kansas State.
But then you have some experienced guys like Clayton Adams
(34:22):
who comes in from the Cardinals, and then you have
Aaron Whitecotton. So he has what looks on paper to
be the Avengers. Okay, as far as his coaching staff,
my ebra flues, he's back. We know what he was
able to do when he was with the Cowboys as linebackers.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
College point being, where are they going?
Speaker 2 (34:37):
You have all of this, and if you don't get
past the first round, if you don't even sniff the
NFC championship, then I'm not I'm not going to say, oh, well,
you got to give a shot.
Speaker 8 (34:48):
No, no, I'm willing.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
The only my.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Caveat SAD is if they don't make the Super Bowl
this year, then I could say I didn't say it
was easy.
Speaker 4 (34:56):
I don't know, but I'm saying. I'm saying, wait of
the what now the weight of the start? And it's
been thirty years. I mean, I'm celebrating my twenty ninth
birthday today, Patrick.
Speaker 1 (35:08):
Guess how many Super Bowls I've seen? Zero? Zero. I'm
twenty nine and I have not been born for Super Bowl?
And what is Shottenheimer say?
Speaker 2 (35:17):
In his press conference his most recent press conference, he said,
quote unquote, no one wants to win the Super Bowl
more than me.
Speaker 1 (35:23):
I love that end quote. So if they can you
do it, everybody in this league wants.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
You're asking my expectation of the team, my expectation all
things considered.
Speaker 1 (35:32):
I'm not saying I just.
Speaker 4 (35:33):
Think it's lofty to say they've got to be in
the NFC title game.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
It's a first year I said, sniff To be fair,
I said sniff it.
Speaker 2 (35:42):
I said, you have to at least sniff it, which
means you've got to be past the first round. You
gotta have come, gotta have a shot shot in a
divisional and it can't be a blowout. Enough of that,
and it can't be some weird bounce to the ball.
We got to blame the officials type thing when actually
it was your running back fumbling with the green grass
in front of them.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
It can't be put blue under the light like that.
That wasn't blue. That was that was demarkable.
Speaker 6 (36:06):
I got to isa, stand back, I gotta pull a
rich Moca?
Speaker 1 (36:08):
All right?
Speaker 6 (36:09):
What did I gotta pull a rich moca? It's a flavor.
He likes it a lot.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
That's what.
Speaker 6 (36:17):
Did Dan Quinn do in his first year as head
coach with the Washington Commanders.
Speaker 4 (36:20):
He went to an NFC title game. But he's not
a first year NFL head coach.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
But it was his first year in Then in the role,
he's talking.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
Challenges, So challenges or challenges, and.
Speaker 4 (36:31):
They're also in your division and they're also on paper
better than they were last year.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
They didn't won, but two teams that made an NFC
title game.
Speaker 6 (36:41):
I'm saying, if you have Dak Prescott as your quarterback,
to me, getting to the NFC championship is that that's
the barometer you need to get.
Speaker 1 (36:49):
You have to get you have to get well.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
I think if we're if we're comparing Washington to Dallas,
it's kind of apples to oranges, especially at the quarterback position,
just because I don't think Dak can give you as
much mobility as he can out now. When Dak is
playing at his best, is he one of the best
quarterbacks in the NFL?
Speaker 6 (37:03):
Absolutely so, then what are we talking?
Speaker 5 (37:05):
But one, is he going to be at his best
when he returns from this injury? Is this because we
saw how he started the year last year. It wasn't great.
It wasn't great at all. If he plays like that
again this year, then you're you're talking about you know,
you're not talking aboe weapon one who's he throwing the
football to?
Speaker 1 (37:22):
Two?
Speaker 5 (37:23):
Who's taking some weight off his shoulders in the run game?
And three can they protect him? Can they protect him
especially on his blind side? Can they protect him at
left tackle. Tyler Booker is excellent, and that's part of
the reason why they come in and that's why they
picked him. But on his blind side, I left tackle
is one of the most important positions in football. Can
(37:44):
they protect his blind side? Because if not, then that's trouble.
He's not going to have the time to throw, and
there's especially if he doesn't have as many options to
throw too.
Speaker 6 (37:52):
But exactly again, going back to the very first question
of this podcast, what are we doing at wide receiver two?
What we got to make a move, We got to
help them out. Yeah, if we have one of the
best quarterbacks in the league, one of the top five,
one of the top ten, however you want to number them,
however you want to list him, how are.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
We helping him?
Speaker 2 (38:11):
I agree, And and just to be clear for those
that because I see this comment kind of popping up
a little bit, there's a difference, folks, between prediction and expectation.
Speaker 8 (38:19):
We're talking expectations.
Speaker 2 (38:21):
We haven't gotten to the season predictions yet, plus schedule releases.
Next week, we'll see what the schedule release looks like.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
Yeah, I think there's there's a little bit of a
synopsis with your expectation.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
There's a cross polination, yeah, but my expectation you got
to make the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (38:37):
This team is good enough to make the playoffs right
now on pape.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
That's minimum minimum. Got to make the playoffs, am I.
But that's the expectation.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
The prediction is whether or not you think Schottenheimer will
get you there or not.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
There and less the difference between the two.
Speaker 4 (38:52):
And so if you're and I like what they've done
to this point, but I am just like anybody else,
skeptical of what things will happen on x's and o's
and whenever things actually get the calling plays and these
guys actually get out there and they.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Don't have everything go their way.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
It is easy to win the off season by a mindset, right,
But then everybody else that you face is also winning
the off season in their mind.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
You know, you know what you're You're gonna lose football games.
How do you respond?
Speaker 4 (39:20):
And we don't know how they will respond. With a
first year head coach who has been in the building,
who was an offensive coordinator initially, and who has been around,
he hasn't been in this head coaching role ever, So
we knew Kansas or not Kansas City. We knew Washington
would respond because dan Quinn's been to a Super Bowl before.
(39:40):
He resurrected the Atlanta Falcons before, so we knew he
could do that with a team previously.
Speaker 1 (39:46):
We don't know that about Shoddy.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
But you know what you just yet. You know what
you just did. Going back to my original point, putting
the fan cap back on. Faith is earned. It is,
and that that's what Shoty has to do.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
He has to earn. He has to earn this faith,
no doubt.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
Lots of topic of conversation we're gonna have all the
way through the year.
Speaker 12 (40:04):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Yeah, we didn't even get to Cooper.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
I love Cooper BB All pro is a laxation, but I.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
Think he'll be better. Yeah, so I think there's a way.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
I believe that he's definitely a Pro Bowl caliber center.
But drop in a lot, but drop in Connor Riley
and now that gives him all pro potential.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
Let's go. I think with that union. I really like
n Riley a lot. The more that we've gotten to
talk to him, the more I want.
Speaker 6 (40:26):
Oh, he's a very nice man.
Speaker 4 (40:28):
All right, Larry in Kansas, Sorry, you've been on the
line for a little bit Larry and sticking around.
Speaker 1 (40:33):
You're on talking Cowboys.
Speaker 12 (40:35):
Hey, no worries, guys, I'm looking the show either way.
Speaker 11 (40:37):
What's the dip?
Speaker 1 (40:38):
What's going on?
Speaker 7 (40:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (40:39):
I appreciation.
Speaker 12 (40:42):
No glad to get on, good glad to get on.
I wanted to real quick cover homers and haters the
comments you guys commented on earlier, you know, being a
Cowboys fan or even you guys position working for the team.
It's like being in politics. Now, how hard it is
to be the smart guy that stays in the middle.
(41:04):
You guys want to be on the left of the
right far extream either way, go ahead, be your field,
do you? But the smart people try to live in
the middle, and it's really hardy.
Speaker 4 (41:16):
That awesome, Yeah, And I'm going to use that at
some point down the line. I'm going to be an
I'm gonna be like, I'm right in the middle here.
I'm being politics here. That's awesome.
Speaker 12 (41:29):
But uh, you know, especially with the Cowboys, it's very
difficult all fan bases deal with. This team has a
down year. All of a sudden, we need to fire everybody,
trade everybody, cut everybody. Uh, the sky's falling, chicken, little
Uh Cowboys go twelve and five and it's like, oh man,
we were right there next year at Super Bowl or bust.
Speaker 11 (41:50):
Uh.
Speaker 12 (41:51):
You know what creates disappointment expectations. Okay, uh, enjoy the journey.
Speaker 1 (41:58):
I love that.
Speaker 12 (41:59):
Yeah, last year was a perfect storm of bad. First off,
anybody didn't understand the Cowboys were in a rebuild mode.
When you don't even try to re sign to us
starting offensive linemen and say, hey, we're gonna go replace
them with rookies. We'll get her done.
Speaker 11 (42:19):
It'll be great.
Speaker 12 (42:21):
You that's a rebuilding year just from that one thing.
Not to mention the cap situation they were in. They
did the smart thing, spent no money, you know, just
really held their held their resources for this year and
the next year's forward. Then that created lack of depth,
which then of course gets you hit with really hard
(42:44):
injuries and you can't recover from that. So yeah, seven
to ten, you got to own it. That's what you did.
But you had a lot of different things that went
into that. Now, do I think that they're going right
back to twelve and five? No, still got a still
got a left tackle guy over there trying to figure
(43:04):
it out, and all these different things I think they'll
go get a wide receiver too. Still a process, but
they're in a lot different position than they were in
before with their cap and all these things. I think
they'll go get a wide receiver too, and we'll see
how it goes. That's pretty much the whole Get what
you guys thought.
Speaker 4 (43:25):
I appreciate you, Larry giving us a call from Kansas.
I like to enjoy the journey part.
Speaker 1 (43:30):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (43:31):
I say that on Twitter all the time for the
people that have already written off the season. Oh it's
not going to be Why not just get on the
ride again and enjoy it and.
Speaker 1 (43:39):
See where it might be a roller coaster.
Speaker 2 (43:40):
Now it will be a roller coaster with this team,
but you know, you never know where it might end,
because eventually, eventually it's going to end.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
You know the right way.
Speaker 2 (43:49):
But if you never get on the ride, you'll never
get to the destination. So I do find it funny
that it was this Jay and why Blue. So are
we haters or homers?
Speaker 8 (43:57):
Which is it?
Speaker 1 (43:58):
Because now after that haters and home right? Yeah? Both right?
Speaker 6 (44:02):
Fans of the team.
Speaker 2 (44:03):
Yeah, Because because I said Shoddy has to earn that
faith is earned.
Speaker 8 (44:07):
Now someone in the coming, So like, I got fit.
Speaker 1 (44:09):
What are you talking about? No, So you got to
have faith.
Speaker 8 (44:12):
You have to earn my faith. This is how it goes.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
You don't.
Speaker 2 (44:15):
I don't just give it to you, right because if
I did, then what value would there be in my
faith in you?
Speaker 1 (44:20):
So? No, didn't you.
Speaker 4 (44:21):
Say your expectations were they were gonna sniff in n
FC title game.
Speaker 2 (44:25):
I said, my expectations are. If they don't, then I'm disappointed.
And I'm not excusing it away.
Speaker 1 (44:30):
I'm not. I'm just not there's no faith involved in that.
So I'm gonna try to im pocket like we talked about. Yeah,
certain pockets. Yeah, the rest has to be show me.
Speaker 5 (44:40):
I think he was a good point of like living
in the middle, and that's what I feel like. I
try my best to do it. Obviously you can't all
the time. And I think in the expectations part of it,
I think you look at you know, it's such a
it's such a a weird word because it's different. There's
a different definition for everybody, and that's what makes expectations weird.
When I look at this team, I think, you know,
(45:01):
you look at eight and nine wins and you're fighting
for a playoff spot as it stands right now. They
had a wide receiver too, depending on who it is,
maybe that changes things a little bit. You know, if
they if they make another splash at a position like
a defensive tackle, or they had another running back that
could emerge as a starter. You know, we're talking a
little bit different there. But it I think the sniffing
(45:21):
the NFC Championship game is for me, it's a little
it's a little too much. I don't see them doing
that this year. Could I be wrong, absolutely, It wouldn't
be the first time.
Speaker 1 (45:30):
Trust I would love to be wrong on that. Yeah,
And I'm sure they would love it.
Speaker 4 (45:34):
I'm sure Washington Commanders fans all fourteen of them last year,
and we're.
Speaker 1 (45:38):
Happy that they got on board midway through the year.
I'm sure they had a great time whenever they made
a run to the NFC right and.
Speaker 5 (45:45):
And those runs can happen like that.
Speaker 1 (45:47):
All it takes.
Speaker 5 (45:48):
All it takes is one player or one play or
one game to just kind of like, okay, we get
it now, we get it now. And you know, in
terms of putting faith in Brian Schottheimer, one thing I've
always appreciated about him is if you go back last
year and watch him talk at our offensive coordinator press conferences.
The way that the guy communicates the x's and o's
to people is something I really appreciate because I'm not
(46:12):
going to act like I'm you know, Steve Sarkisian, and
I know everything about the offensive side of the ball,
and the way that he's able to explain it is
very helpful for people who you know, are like me
and not very smart and just don't you know, are
still trying to learn the game football and the x's
and o'st portion of it. So he does a good
job of explaining it. And I think that that's something
you can appreciate. Now, can you incorporate that into a
(46:33):
full game plan and can you execute it on a field?
That's obviously the big if, and that's obviously what Brian
Schttenheimer is going to have to do. But you guys
are completely right. He's winning every press conference, he's winning
over his locker room, and that's great.
Speaker 1 (46:47):
Now he just needs to win games.
Speaker 6 (46:48):
He's doing everything right now, right, everything that he's done
so far, all the press conferences, all the interviews that
he's done, every single time he's hitting it out of
the park. It's not until we get to that field
and the games matter where we can actually finally be
able to say the proof is in the pudding.
Speaker 1 (47:06):
Here's where, here's where we are right each when advertently hits.
Speaker 6 (47:10):
That's exactly exactly, and what happens when he reacts to
things that aren't so good.
Speaker 1 (47:15):
If you lose a.
Speaker 6 (47:18):
Game to the Eagles, you know and you're kind of
or you.
Speaker 4 (47:20):
Lose a game to a team you're not supposed to
lose to, that's where I'm we need to stop doing that.
Speaker 1 (47:25):
That sounds that sounds great.
Speaker 4 (47:28):
There was a great comment in here that that was
talking about expectations, that was talking about the fact that
he would love to see you play better against those
those above five hundred teams and still take care of
business against the sub.
Speaker 1 (47:40):
Five hundred teams.
Speaker 4 (47:41):
I completely agree with that. I want to see better
play where you're not getting blown out by Philadelphia, You're
not getting blown out by San Francisco or some of
these teams that have been significant over these last few years. Instead,
I want to see you play close, win or lose,
play good football, because there have been so many times
against goodall teams.
Speaker 6 (48:00):
They had played bad consistency man, and that's going to
be a huge, huge thing with this thing.
Speaker 2 (48:06):
Which goes to my next point and also shouts out
because you're right, we are highlighting the negative commings just
because they're funny, that's why we point them out. But
as far as the positive comments go, what I'm starting
to see is people who are saying, Shoty's building brick
brick by brick. So I want to say that step
by step, week by week, playing outside end right outside end,
that's what you want to see as we're watching because
(48:27):
until we can watch the games in September, all we
can do is sit back and watch his process of
how he's building and analyze the process. And I said
this to Tommy. I think it was yesterday or day before.
I said, Shoddy is hitting a home run with every
swing thus far in his culture building process. Right, still
some things that need to be answered roster wise, like
w R two, who's your RB one, so forth, and
(48:48):
so on. But from a head coach coming in establishing
a culture also, which goes to roster building, because we
know for a fact that he's still on the table
for some of these picks. Tyler Booker is here because
he was like, what we what are we doing? What
are we doing here?
Speaker 1 (49:02):
That's the pick?
Speaker 2 (49:03):
Make the pick right, And that's not the only player
that was drafted because Shottenheimer kind of put his foot
on the table. My point being, all of these things
are working well. You build it brick by brick and
it looks great, But we won't know until the storm hits.
We won't know how this building is going to hold
up until the storm hits.
Speaker 1 (49:23):
Only just a lot of signal on our side. Outs
are on our TV. We're we're still on the air.
Speaker 8 (49:28):
I think so, But you won't know until the storm hurts.
Speaker 2 (49:33):
Storm is heading and ever inevitab believe the storm will
hit because you're talking about the Cowboys. So what happens
if you start one and three? What happens if you
lose to a team you're not supposed to lose to?
What adaptations and adjustments are made in real time by
shottenheimri That's what's going to dictate the success of the season,
because the storm will hit. And if it turns out
(49:53):
that you're like, oh, I didn't reinforce that window like
I should have, how quickly does it take you to
then reinforce that window, versus saying, oh, I'm just gonna
wait it out and let the wr twoter situation form itself.
But you're like one in three of your you know,
five and eight, and you're still waiting for that to
figure it out. So how quickly he adjusts to moving
those bricks and reinforcing some of the things that he
won't know until you get Gail force wins.
Speaker 1 (50:15):
You won't know how a win.
Speaker 4 (50:16):
We don't know how it's going to happen and how
it's going to react. All right, when we come back
here on Talking Cowboys, we'll wrap things up. We got
a couple more calls to get to as well. They've
been great so far. More Talking Cowboys.
Speaker 9 (50:26):

Speaker 4 (52:33):
Back here on Talking Cowboys, Patrick Nosey Walker, Josh Rodriguez,
Tommy Yarsh filling in for Isaiah's standback Chris Beam in
the back of Kyle Yellmans. Be sure to watch Isaiah
on Good Morning football. He's on all week long. So
you know what, support our guy, have a good show, Isaiah.
Speaker 1 (52:51):
I thought you were gonna say forget him. Yeah, yeah, No,
we love Isaiah. We want him to show.
Speaker 6 (52:56):
I couldn't even pretend.
Speaker 8 (52:58):
Yeah, we miss you Isaiah, but we love that brother.
Speaker 4 (53:01):
He did put out a pretty trash list of top
five bill three yesterday.
Speaker 1 (53:06):
Oh trash, I texted, Yeah, it was trash, run through it,
run through it. What was the list? It was?
Speaker 4 (53:12):
So it was Michael Vick number one, Lamar Jackson, which
I think those are consensus one too.
Speaker 1 (53:17):
You can maybe flip them. I think that's true.
Speaker 6 (53:21):
Number one, That is true.
Speaker 1 (53:23):
Who was better? Yeah, Michael Vick, Stat's wise.
Speaker 4 (53:27):
Lamar actually surpassed Yeah, Vic quite a bit.
Speaker 1 (53:30):
So he put those two.
Speaker 6 (53:31):
Then does he have a shoe?
Speaker 4 (53:33):
He put Cam Newton, which rushing touchdowns he had seventy
five of them, which is he should be on the list.
Speaker 1 (53:39):
Three is a little high. Randall Cunningham.
Speaker 8 (53:42):
I put Randall above Cam.
Speaker 1 (53:43):
Probably, and then Donovan McNabb.
Speaker 8 (53:47):
What is what does Warren Moon fit in this?
Speaker 1 (53:49):
Covers? Where? Where does so?
Speaker 4 (53:51):
I heard a lot of Warren Moon, Josh Allen, dude,
Josh Allen's statistics, he should be three.
Speaker 6 (53:58):
Of course, he'd say, Josh Allen.
Speaker 1 (53:59):
I did because he's really good.
Speaker 4 (54:02):
He's good because he's he has sixty five rushing touchdowns
in his career and in his average yards per carry
and total yardage.
Speaker 1 (54:10):
I mean I think he should be on there.
Speaker 6 (54:11):
Hailey Steinfeld, I mean, yeah, that's a great one.
Speaker 1 (54:14):
Yeah, what is there?
Speaker 6 (54:15):
What is her new movie with George my Sinners centers
watching Imax seventy moments it was good, It's really good.
Speaker 4 (54:23):
And then a lot of Steve Young's they were thrown
out moon Young Allen as it's a part of the list.
Speaker 1 (54:30):
I don't know about.
Speaker 6 (54:31):
McNabb being on there.
Speaker 4 (54:33):
Yeah, I think that would be the one I would replace.
It wasn't really a rash list.
Speaker 6 (54:38):
But Isaiah played against McNabb technically.
Speaker 8 (54:40):
Right, then he should know better.
Speaker 2 (54:42):
McNabb doesn't run pocket passer, Yeah, no, he'll move around,
but he didn't say that.
Speaker 6 (54:48):
The Cowboys fans remember that forty five second sunshounds on
a dog scramble.
Speaker 4 (54:53):
Yeah, but if that's the case, then what are we
calling Tony Romo.
Speaker 1 (54:57):
A mobile quarterback? Absolutely cant greatest chill out. There's the
uh oh man, all right, I gotta go.
Speaker 4 (55:10):
We gotta get back to the phone calls John and
Tallahassee is on the line.
Speaker 1 (55:14):
John, what's going on?
Speaker 7 (55:16):
What's going on? Felis. I appreciate you guys taking my call.
Speaker 11 (55:20):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (55:21):
I heard of the storm going on there. I hope
you guys all stay safe. I don't want you all
getting in trouble. Blah blah blah. I heard you guys
talking about the top five quarterbacks. I agree with you.
I think Donovan mc nab he's he's not good enough.
I think they you should have swapped out Josh Allen
for him. Personally. I just think the young man is
(55:42):
really great. Uh. But I heard you guys talking about
making runs, the Cowboys making run And I know a
thing or two about making runs. I tell you that much.
You don't take much to make some runs over here.
But those guys they could definitely do it. O shoty
shot a high. He gonna get them boys where they
need to go. Uh.
Speaker 1 (56:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (56:04):
Also, I think, well, I don't remember who watch. I
think it was Josh that was talking about the guys,
uh getting number two receivers. I think they definitely need
to get a number two Uh. They need to figure
that out. You know, they need to hit a home run,
but not like Kyle Yeoman. Don't don't try to hit
home runs black Kyle Yeoman. We don't want that.
Speaker 4 (56:26):
Kind of Hey, I appreciate you know how to say
my last name right that Not a lot of people
know how to do that.
Speaker 7 (56:33):
Yeah, no, No, it's okay. No, I think you're you know,
you get three times running up, so we don't want
to do that. But I just want to appreciate y'all
taking my call, you know, from down here in Tallahassean.
Speaker 2 (56:46):
You know what's what's worse than having a trash list
of top mobile quarter Yeah, it was pretty bad, is
having a trash fake Southern accent?
Speaker 1 (56:58):
Are you related to be Ohio by John.
Speaker 2 (57:08):
As like as a boarder and bred Southern boy? I
am offended the atrociousness of that fake accent?
Speaker 8 (57:18):
You pacific north Northwestern.
Speaker 2 (57:22):
I don't do that, brother, and I just been saying,
we love you.
Speaker 1 (57:26):
Look what you do? Look a butcher accent.
Speaker 4 (57:30):
My favorite part about this prank call Isaiah. This is
by the way, for those that haven't picked up on
a yet, this is Isaiah isa Rich Moca himself the
the The hilarious part of this is we didn't. The
only thing I saw was John and tallahassee from Chris,
and we were giving you praise and giving you all
(57:51):
sorts of mess. Going into the phone call specific little line.
Speaker 1 (57:56):
Right before Frank call say his name, what's up dude?
How was your show today?
Speaker 7 (58:06):
So it was good man. We have some good conversation,
so good debates, We have some dur talk. We had
some guests on, you know, getting ready for Mother's Day,
so it was all in all good show. We didn't
talk cowboys to day. We talked cowboys yesterday. We definitely
live we lit it up yesterday on the Cowboys, of course.
But but no, all good things, man, all good things.
Speaker 6 (58:24):
Well, please answer the question that we had about Donovi
McNabb being on your list. Did you play in games
against Donovan mcnapt.
Speaker 7 (58:32):
Yeah, Now I understand this. This was my list, right,
This was not taking anybody else's opinion into account.
Speaker 1 (58:38):
List.
Speaker 7 (58:38):
This was an Isaiah's list. So in terms of people
who inspired me as a dual threat quarterback, Donovan, now
what's up there on that list?
Speaker 1 (58:46):
Now?
Speaker 7 (58:46):
If I were to redo the list and just have
just the guys that are are now being taken into account.
I would swap out McNab for Allan. But a lot
of people were furious with me. First of all, I
was called a racist. That's uh that they obviously haven't
seen my friend group. So so I was appalled. Exactly,
(59:12):
I don't know about that. Uh. So I would swap
out of me nabbing Allen, but Cunningham absolute freaking lutely,
Cam Newton abps a freaking lutely. Uh. You know the
Vic and Lamar. You know obviously Vic I already said
Vic is going to remain my number one until Lamar retires,
regardless of how well Lamar does. He's Vic is just
(59:32):
nostalgia for me. So that was Isaiah's list, not not
the people's list. So, but the whole Steve Young thing
on there. Yeah, I can't get down with that. I
can't get down. I respect Steve Young, there's no no,
there's no hate there. But a lot of people had
arguments in regards to no quarterbacks on the list having
super Bowls. This wasn't a super Bowl because that wasn't
that wasn't a that wasn't a characteristic that was required.
(59:55):
So yeah, that was good, good, conversation. Anytime the list
has put out, people are always going to agree, I
welcome to banter football, good with me.
Speaker 2 (01:00:03):
So Isaiah stand back is basically saying he is not
the people's champ.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
The people that's a champ.
Speaker 8 (01:00:09):
That's why Seth Rowland supplexed him on.
Speaker 1 (01:00:14):
No, I didn't hate the list, the Josh Allen not
being on there.
Speaker 7 (01:00:18):
With which which it's arguable.
Speaker 1 (01:00:21):
If it's a top five list, then that's the case.
Speaker 4 (01:00:23):
Like you said, you explained it as Isaiah's a list,
So it's a little bit different than what what people were.
Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
Taking it as.
Speaker 7 (01:00:31):
The least love the passion.
Speaker 4 (01:00:34):
Well, that's the thing is, I just don't want anybody
to put you in the wrong light for that list.
Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
That's stupid.
Speaker 2 (01:00:39):
This is get a list of the worst fake Southern
axcents ever purposed.
Speaker 1 (01:00:43):
Now that would be about me.
Speaker 7 (01:00:48):
Any time I do an accent, it's going to have
about three different variations. I might start with I'm going
to Australia, and I'm probably gonna end with a with
American Northwest's gonna it's gonna transition.
Speaker 4 (01:00:59):
Somebody in the the YouTube comments, said Bobby Bouchet.
Speaker 1 (01:01:02):
They thought that was a little water bo ask is
what they heard. See.
Speaker 4 (01:01:07):
But if you would have said, like Steve from Seattle,
we would have already we would have yeah, would have.
Speaker 1 (01:01:13):
Been like this is Isaiah, damn. But I said, what's worst?
Speaker 2 (01:01:15):
Dallas's run defense with that accent on that.
Speaker 4 (01:01:20):
Sharing with us shot, we are doing that. I liked
your button up on the show. Now we can finally
see you back on this uh this television screen again.
Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
A little button up? Good, big dog. Yeah, you look
at you look good.
Speaker 7 (01:01:33):
Listen. It's not it's not met Gala appropriate, you know
what I'm saying, But coming off the heels of the
mit Gala yesterday, I forgot I probably button it up
of just having a T shirt, but uh like a cult.
Speaker 1 (01:01:43):
Leader like you know what I'm saying, five thousand knits
in it. That's a thousand three threat counts all count
all the way up. What is that velvet? All right, Isaiah?
We appreciate you calling it. John talent next week, Yes, sir,
we'll see you next week. Be safe.
Speaker 6 (01:02:01):
There he goes everybody.
Speaker 4 (01:02:02):
Good morning football and talking Cowboys own Isaiah's standback John
from Tallahassee.
Speaker 1 (01:02:08):
Yeah, two sentences in I looked at.
Speaker 6 (01:02:09):
Patrick, dude, it honestly took me a second.
Speaker 1 (01:02:12):
Did it take you?
Speaker 4 (01:02:15):
There was one point when I looked at Patrick and
I was like, that's Isaiah, and then I like listen.
I was like, Okay, maybe it's not. But then he
said something else and I was like.
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
Oh, yeah, no he could because he couldn't maintain well.
Once he said my last name correctly, I was like, oh.
Speaker 8 (01:02:28):
Dude, this is Isaiah.
Speaker 1 (01:02:29):
Yeah. And then it was also how you said Josh.
Speaker 2 (01:02:31):
That's not how you say Josh in Southern It's not
got you got to put an inflection on.
Speaker 1 (01:02:36):
The O and then you got right. So yeah, almost
like there were plenty of tales in that.
Speaker 8 (01:02:41):
Again, as a country boy, plenty of tales.
Speaker 1 (01:02:44):
Nice tra though, gave it a shot. All right. That
does it for us here on Talking Cowboys appreciate.
Speaker 4 (01:02:48):
Those that called in and that commented on the YouTube today.
We will be back next week, same time, same place
today m Central time on Tuesday for Patrick do c Walker,
Josh Rodriguez, Tommy as Chris Beam in the back of
Yeoman saying so long from Talking Cowboys, We'll see you
next time.
Speaker 3 (01:03:04):
This has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and
the Dallas Cowboys Football Club
