Don't whities, No, don't, don't be Was the.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Last time you were a white pair of drawers? White pears?
Speaker 8 (01:48):
That's a question for you. Put that in a chat.
Was the last time you were a white pair of drawers?
Speaker 1 (01:52):
Oh? Wow? Why is it?
Speaker 6 (01:53):
Definitely not when we faced the Broncos Right.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
Now, I'm glad he wore the brown.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Seriously, do you have a white pair of draws?
Speaker 6 (02:04):
No?
Speaker 8 (02:05):
Do is anybody? Now I'm a grown man. Well, bro,
I think it takes a grown man to wear a
white parent.
Speaker 6 (02:11):
Very confident in yourself.
Speaker 1 (02:13):
I trust myself.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
I said, It's like, wait, you don't that's.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
All I have?
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Oh, welcome man talking, Yeah, very much.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
So it's the defensive preview day going up against the
Broncos offense today.
Speaker 8 (02:31):
Why there's some people that I'm walking down the street
and I look at them, I'm like, they wear white draws?
Speaker 3 (02:37):
What, Bro, I don't even want to go down the
trap hole. But yeah, yes, you have to ask you.
I've got to know what on God's green earth? What
in the sam hill is a indicate someone might be
a white drawers wear in the eyes of Isaiah's stand by.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
I don't know.
Speaker 8 (02:54):
There's just there's just a feeling if I yeah, it's
just a feeling black eyed peas man I got, Yeah,
it's I don't know.
Speaker 6 (03:01):
If they're wearing loafers with socks, I don't. I don't know,
you know, you just kind of know.
Speaker 8 (03:06):
I feel like if they're saying how you're doing, Like
I feel like anybody who saying like, how you doing,
I feel like that's that's probably one of the indegagents
they hit.
Speaker 7 (03:13):
George try buddy that.
Speaker 8 (03:18):
Yeah, he's thinking about it.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
I don't disagree.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
Yeah, I think, but we also don't judge if that's you.
I think, God bless.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
What makes you feel good as long as it doesn't
you know, intrue upon other people's enjoyment, and you're clearly
not intrue in upon Isaiah's enjoyment.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
If you choose tidy whities.
Speaker 7 (03:42):
He says underrus Spider, no, if I.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Were to wear under rules I'm not gonna tell you
what draws. If I were to wear under rules, it
wouldn't be Spider Man, it'd be Superman.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
Let's just be clear. Maybe some Goku, oh you know
real blue.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
Yeah, minor Sailor mon.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Hey, don't sleep on Sailor will stop it.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
We've already talked about. Mind when the pants ripped at
the stadium last year, green like North Texas green.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Right, Green draw yeah, Green drawls bro.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Yeah, in a black suit and it was the begin
It looked like a stop light down there.
Speaker 5 (04:24):
It was a bad day.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Three kids. I was like, go, go welcome.
Speaker 6 (04:33):
You don't have triplets nothing, man.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Make it happen. Green drawls bro was it? It wasn't
their game day.
Speaker 8 (04:40):
You just we're feeling froggy.
Speaker 6 (04:48):
I hate it.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
Who just grabs the green draws money?
Speaker 5 (04:55):
It was after those. It was after North Texas win.
Speaker 8 (04:57):
That's why okay, ind of call, you are all oh
I am Kyle put those on turn around in the mirror,
was like, yeah, I don't.
Speaker 5 (05:05):
Think I did that one, all right. Got to get
back to football.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Oh man.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
Because there are multiple people that were turned they were
back to I saw a cool picture of somebody I
don't know who was though, did you who was?
Speaker 1 (05:22):
Figure?
Speaker 8 (05:22):
You couldn't rely see who the number was? Figure draws
the definitely not, definitely did not. This person is a
little more swaggy. I don't think they're wearing green draws.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
But who was it? Marion over shown you man, I'm sorry?
Was that number zero? H?
Speaker 3 (05:35):
No, he was like on the sideline doing stuff like man. No,
he had his helmet on. He was running through individual drills.
He was doing drills with the linebackers. Coach uh uh Borganzi.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
So yeah, he was. Uh, he was out there.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
He was doing things with the the other linebackers. Looked good,
moved well. Same can be said for Savon Revel. Revel
was out there doing lineback, he was doing cornerback drills.
He did some individual drills. Neither one of those guys
Cooper BB, who was also back on the practice yesterday,
Neither of those three guys did any team drills. Completely fine,
(06:08):
although Demo did say yesterday that today they might kind
of dip his toe in the pool as far as
some team drills are concerned.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
So as long as he does it carefully.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Yeah, absolutely so, uh, Demo, Savon Revel, Cooper bb all
back at practice as their twenty one day windows start,
and Jonathan Mingo was back at practice as well, but
in a different capacity because he's actually activated back to
the fifty three man roster. Four editions. You're saying five, Actually,
(06:38):
would you like the fifth?
Speaker 6 (06:39):
Ye oh yeah? Would you like the fifth?
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Why not? Would you like the fifth? Plead the fifth?
All right?
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Uh, there's a familiar young face back in the building.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Back.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Cowboys re signed cornerback Zion Childress.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
Oh, we're back.
Speaker 3 (06:58):
Zion Childress is back. He is on the Cowboys practice squad.
To make room for him on the practice squad, Jalen
Brooks was moved to practice squad injured the practice squad
injured list. So I did see Jalen Brooks doing stuff
that somewhere basically he's I mean, he's injured, but there's
no injured reserve for.
Speaker 6 (07:16):
Practice squad, so it's its own days.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
It's yeah, it's its own lists.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Just know it's a it's a part of the new stuff.
When they expanded the sixteen, yeah, which frees up.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
A practice squad spot. And Zion showed just a is
back to fiell that practice, So can he ever get
back on the practice squad Brooks. Yeah, absolutely, as long
as I don't, as long as it's not season ending.
When I don't, I don't get any indication that it is.
Speaker 6 (07:38):
I don't, someone else will have to move off of it.
Speaker 5 (07:40):
I also don't think there's a four game designation on that.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
No, there's not. It's a completely different Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:44):
So when he whenever he's ready, he's ready, and if
they want to it's not I hate to say the
word reactivate. So when they want to move him back
to the practice squad, actual practice squad, washed roster, Jalen Brooks,
I'm referring to, all they need to do is figure
out who they want to move off of it.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
So is that a whole another salary designation as well?
Is it? No, it's still I mean because you know
practice squad, they have their own SA. I know their salary.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
So nice now, I bet, I bet it's slightly different. Okay,
I imagine, So I don't know that for sure. So
many different changes.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Facts, So Zion Childress, So he he got released from.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
H Town, got you, he's back.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
He's back, so any cleared waivers and and with all
of that being said, he now qualifies for full three elevations.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
No boys need him, So there's.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
So they reset the reset, you leave and then come back.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
He went signed with another team, was claimed by another team.
Speaker 7 (08:37):
But really those shuts of ion because that a guy
that we talked about, how we have an affinity for
is isaiahs talked about him before. It's that it's great
to have him back.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Yeah, yeah, seriously, if I was mad, I was.
Speaker 1 (08:49):
Mad that he left. I'm glad that he's back in
the building.
Speaker 8 (08:51):
Obviously he was of no value to Houston or Houston
didn't see the value in him. So I mean, you know,
another man's trash is another man's treasurer.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
But he's here.
Speaker 3 (09:00):
Definitely works out for you in the capacity of this
next thing I'm saying. So Trevon Digs, still in concussion protocol,
who was in the building yesterday, actually saw him in
the locker room as well, and.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
I get it.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
I see why they sent him home the day prior.
Kind of kind of kind of glassy out a little
bit like it doesn't doesn't look like he feels well, just.
Speaker 8 (09:20):
Doesn't look like he feels well from the home incident. Yeah,
I just that's what I mean.
Speaker 3 (09:25):
Like I spoke with him yesterday, like just a quick
little back and forth, like, hey, you know, trevaon, how
you doing?
Speaker 1 (09:30):
And he was like, hey, man, I'm doing good.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
But the eyes were kind of I was like, all right, yeah,
I don't know the story behind it, but nobody does. Yeah,
but I will say that I could see why on
Monday they sent him home. He clearly has some more benchmarks.
And I don't I say that to say I don't
know that he takes to feel this week as we
sit here and have this conversation on Thursday, I do
not believe Trevon Diggs takes the field this week based
(09:52):
on what I saw your state. If he does, I'll
be pleasantly surprised, But I just I don't see it.
We'll see, because obviously that's gonna be up to the
Independent of to clear him for that. So Donovan Wilson
still dealing with that elbow and shoulder issue. He did
not participate, but he missed a couple practices last week
and he still was able to take the field, So
we'll see how that goes. Everything else is just the
good news. Cooper peb Back, Kenny Clark. Kenny Clark, he
(10:16):
did return to the game. I have a lot of
fans wondering what was going on with the elbow shot.
He said yesterday it was just he's dealing with some
slight soreness. So but nonetheless he did participate in practice.
I'll beat unlimited capacity. So it doesn't seem like there's
much concern there for Kenny Clark's elbow at all, which
is a good news. Marshawn Kneeling limited participant. We talked
about demo revel there back at practice, Tyler Smith limited,
(10:38):
he's still working through some things. One yeay was back
at practice, so that's good news. They're kind of working
him back in. And I know there's this unknowing I'll
say it. I'm not going to say ignorance, but there's
this unknowing for anyone who's never suffered migraines or clustered
migraines and things like that, they tend to think that.
And this was based on the conversation I had on
(10:59):
Twitter with some fans, and I say this with a
lot of love. Migraine is not a headache. So for
those that are asking, how can a headache keep you
out of an inn field game? A migrant debility migrain
is not a headache. It is absolutely debilitating. But after
the game, I did speak with one game and I
asked him how he was feeling, and he said he's
feeling much better. Practice report bears that out. He did
(11:21):
participate all be it limited, so he's kind of easing
his way back. So good shot for him to take
the field this week.
Speaker 8 (11:27):
Crazy thing which is obviously not a nowhere near on
the same playing field. But my daughter, who loves track,
she's a top fifteen in the country track athlete, also
on a lover proud of her, she does not want
to I asked her yesterday, I said, do you want to
run indoor this year?
Speaker 3 (11:40):
Right?
Speaker 8 (11:40):
Because her new club that she runs for does not
run indoors, So I said, do you want to go?
I'll take you as an independent. She said, no, I
don't want to run because I get migraines at the
indoor meets. Interesting, like that's like somebody who you know, Scott.
She loves track, like loves competition. She's like, I do
not want to go through a migraine. And to ensure
I don't go through a migraine, I don't want to
(12:00):
run indoor track.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
That's interesting.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
Yeah, she gives the migrants tot the indoor tracks for
some reason. It's just the lights. I guess the indoor
the lights.
Speaker 6 (12:06):
Yeah, but like she said, I don't like those.
Speaker 8 (12:09):
I don't like those lights. Bro It like to that
point it is debilitating enough to take. Yeah, should also
keep this. This add to the e fact of the
occupation we're talking about. If it'll shut down a track runner, Yeah, right,
if you're a football player, required to hit, required.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
To hit it, think react you know?
Speaker 3 (12:28):
So yeah, maybe not maybe not so so much the
smart thing. So he's on the on the upswing. So
hopefully when you can return after missing likes last week's game.
But mostly as far as the injury front is concerned,
Cowboys are getting a ton of good news. And then
you add Zion Children's back, So Childress back on the
practice squad, Revel starting his practice window, Carson being activated
(12:50):
to the fifty three last week. You got a lot
of cornerback en force and this is the time of
the season that you need your reinforcement.
Speaker 5 (12:56):
You need your guys back, and you need to be
at full strength.
Speaker 4 (12:59):
One because of the talent levels period, but two because
of the depth that you're going to need in the
next four to five weeks. I mean you're gonna need
it pretty heavy and really the entire the next ten games. Yeah,
next game. By the way, I don't know if you
mentioned this Jonathan Mingo who was activated. He was given
the spot on the active roster because they designated Trevor
(13:22):
Trevor Keegan.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
I did mention that Mingo was back, but Trevor, which
is corresponding move. There was a show that set fans
that that's what the move would be.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
Strong. Was it talking? Was it was talking? Okay, best
part is going.
Speaker 5 (13:40):
And you know what else Talking Cowboys is going to
tell you about.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
It's going to tell you about how this Cowboys defense
is going to continue their momentum against the Broncos offense.
It is our official defense versus Offense preview day here
on Talking Cowboys, and we'll talk about it right after this.
Speaker 6 (13:59):
I'm home.
Speaker 9 (14:00):
Hey, mom, before you ask, I've done my homework and
the dishwashers unloading.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Nice. Hey, can you ahn? Yes, I've got the finale
ready to play. Here's your wine. Wow?
Speaker 5 (14:10):
Isn't it nice not having to ask?
Speaker 10 (14:12):
We think so that's why if there's a network interruption
at and t will proactively credit you for a full
day of service guarantee credit for fiber downtime lasting twenty
minutes or more, or for wireless downtime lasting sixty minutes
and more caused by a single incident impact ten more towers.
Speaker 1 (14:23):

Speaker 5 (14:24):

Speaker 3 (15:28):
I've been seeing some good things totally. They have some talent.
You have some great talent and.
Speaker 9 (15:34):
They got some fight hoping. This is the year me too. Oh,
I'm Cody. By the way, I'm Travis.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Nice to meet you. Travis. Go Cowboys Go. Cowboys make a.
Speaker 12 (15:45):
New friend based solely on their shirt choice. What would
you like the power to do? Bank of America the
official bank of the Dallas Cowboys, copyright twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Bank of America Corporation to Talking Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
Back here on Talking Cowboys. This segment of the show
is brought to you by in Visi Ligne, the official
Smile of the Dallas Cowboys. Back with Patrick Josh, Isaiah
Chris Beam in the back. I'm Kyle Yeoman's glad you're
with us. It is the defensive.
Speaker 5 (16:27):
Preview day versus the Broncos offense. Not an easy matchup.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
As we outlined yesterday, the Cowboys offense elite Cowboys defense
or excuse me, Broncos defense elite so that's going to
be an elite on elite, good on good matchup on
that side of the ball. This one's a little bit different,
but the Broncos are still very good on the offensive
side of the ball, and Dallas played well last week,
but that was the.
Speaker 5 (16:54):
First time in quite some time that they've played.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
Exceptional football against a formidable opponent that's not the New
York Jets. So with that to be said, Isaiah, what
did the New York Giants last week do well on
the defensive side of the football through the first three
quarters to hold the Broncos offense until they, of course
did what they did in the fourth quarter and put
(17:16):
up thirty three.
Speaker 8 (17:17):
Same thing that the Dallas defense did last week against
the Commanders, which was what man Manda man. The Giants
defense played mandom man and was in the hip pocket
of every receiver that was an option. These guys played
very stick of defense. They are very aggressive defensively. The
Giants did a good job of seeing the hole in
the running game. It just hitting it. These guys were
(17:39):
playing aggressive. They were hitting like crazy. The screen game
from Denver, which they run extensively, these guys were They
were all over it. They were watching their keys. You
could tell that they had watched the film. They were study,
they were prepared. All the guys at the second level
and the corners, even the corners for the giants, we're
seeing it, reacting to it and going to hitting.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
It was like there was zero hesitation at all. Coverage wise.
Speaker 8 (18:03):
They were in the hip hoockets of a Sudden and
Mems and all these guys. There was no space. So
everything had to be perfect, and bow Knicks was not
perfect in that game. They also was able to listen
some pressure. Obviously with their front four, they did not
make it easy Bnicks to be able to get the
ball out. So they did that all the way through
three quarters of football. Fourth quarter they had a lead,
(18:24):
they backed off. They started playing zone. They literally started
playing cover three days.
Speaker 6 (18:29):
What was that again? They started playing with zone and
that's a bad thing.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
It was terrible, terrible.
Speaker 8 (18:34):
They were able to start then because your second level
defenders were backing off and syncing into their zones. Screen
games started working, the run game started working. Your pass
rush wasn't as effective. You weren't blitzing anymore. The guys
they run a lot of deep routes. They really want
to have the big play element to their game. So
guys were able to start working their way to those
(18:54):
second levels because bow Knicks had more time, and because
they had more time, guys could work their way into
open zones because you were playing zone defense.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Versus in the first three quarters.
Speaker 8 (19:04):
You could run down the field all you want to,
but somebody was running with you.
Speaker 1 (19:07):
So that's what change for the Giants.
Speaker 8 (19:09):
They really took the took their foot off the gas,
and because of that, it bit them in the in
the rear, in the hunt parts. Yeah, that is literally
just that clear, like it's it was. I don't understand it.
I mean good because they they lost in our division.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
But like two scores, I could see you backing off
and playing a certain way. But if you give up
two scores that way in succession, back to back, and
then you continue to stay off the ball and you
continue to allow them to just march down the field,
that was what stood out to me, is the way
they just effectively just boom.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
Bang, think dank dunk. Well it was there was.
Speaker 8 (19:49):
A fourth and three call that was that was a
holding exactly. There was a holding on fourth and three
that would have ended the game six minutes lefn the
game seven minutes left in a game holding call fourth
and three in the extent, and they were still down
by eight. Yeah, at that point that gave Denver hope
because they were playing zone. Bo Nicks was able to
convert on a couple first downs with his legs. He
really doesn't want to run, but he will run. No,
(20:10):
because they were playing zone, they were able to get
the ball out.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
In some.
Speaker 8 (20:15):
Screenplays that was able to get them fifteen twenty yards
of pop. So, like, there was things that the zone
allowed for that man was not allowing for Earth for
the three fourths of this game, and they took advantage.
I mean, it's still a Sean Payton offense, so you
have the respect it from that regard, but these receivers
based on that game were not getting open versus the
defensive backs for the Giants.
Speaker 7 (20:37):
And look at Brian Burns after that game, just absolutely frustrated.
That might be the best word to use here on
a podcast, but yeah, you have to hate how the
Giants handled that towards the end of the game if
you are a Giants fan. But just seeing what Bonox
was able to do and just in terms of his
capability because he's always looking downfield.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
He's not looking to run like you just said. But
he'll take it.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Oh, he'll like it.
Speaker 7 (21:00):
He'll take the easy yards when you can give them
to him, which is something that concerns me greatly about
what we've faced in terms of a dual threat quarterback.
Speaker 6 (21:09):
It's that's alarming. You look at number twenty seven, JK. Dobbins.
Speaker 7 (21:13):
If Rico gave you issues, this guy's going to give
you issues as well.
Speaker 5 (21:17):
He's had a good year too, He's.
Speaker 6 (21:18):
Had a really good year, and he's formidable.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
He is.
Speaker 7 (21:21):
He pounds the rock and it is for me, frankly,
a little intimidating going up against him tackling the way
this defense has been tackling. I think they're capable. It's
just about being sound and of course we're gonna have
the courtless sudden conversation.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
Yeah, and a little bit.
Speaker 6 (21:37):
But my goodness, man Dobbins, whatater player right now?
Speaker 4 (21:40):
One hundred and five carries, five hundred and twenty three
rushing yards, four touchdowns on the ground. All three of
those numbers are top ten in the NFL, and he
is second in the NFL with runs of fifteen yards
or excuse me, have ten yards or more.
Speaker 5 (21:54):
Only Jonathan Taylor has more than JK.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
Dobbins.
Speaker 5 (21:57):
And it's explosive and effective.
Speaker 8 (21:59):
Yeah, absolutely, and as competent, as compident as you are
in a Dallas Cowboys running games. We're running for one
hundred and twenty two yards per game. They're running for
one thirty two. We're third, I think in the list
on for scoring. They're in the middle of the pack.
So they're not necessarily converting on a whole lot in
terms of turning into points because they will run, they'll
do it, they'll go for it on fourth.
Speaker 7 (22:17):
But hey, if they want to get right, yeah, yeah,
this is the week to do it.
Speaker 1 (22:21):
You know.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
For me, it's so And I spoke about this a
couple of weeks ago in science lab when we had
the conversation of is it required for an NFL team
nowadays to have both an elite offense and an elite
defense to win the Super Bowl? The answer is no, okay,
because only three teams in the past twenty five years
have actually needed an elite side on both sides. All
you need is to Dallas Cowboys defense to be average
(22:44):
ish and that includes in this game as well.
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Bo Nicks. Yeah, he can he can make some plays.
We know that. JK.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
Dobbins, we know he can make some plays now he's
healthy again. Okay, So much like Javonte Williams proven to
the league that he's healthy and he's been the prown form,
JK Dobbins has the same chip on the shoulder. Okay,
we'll get to the court court in a certain conversation
as well. He's making plays for those guys. But all
of that being said, this is still a Broncos offense
even though it's it's you know, the maestro is is
(23:12):
an almighty Sean Payton. They're still you know, ranked seventeenth
in the league and points score per game, They're only
scoring just about twenty four a little under twenty four
points per game. So if this is a situation where
let's say the Cowboys unstoppable force can get the edge
on the Broncos immovable object Broncos defense, Okay, if Cowboys
(23:35):
can get out to a hot start and not make
the just unbelievable brain fart of a mistake like the
like Brian Dabo did, And in that case, I don't see,
I don't see how shod he would do what Dabo
did like, Dabe, what do you what do you?
Speaker 5 (23:49):
I mean, at least the tapes out there.
Speaker 3 (23:51):
Yeah, as long as as long as you don't completely
shut down mentally in the four quarter. Technically and normally
this is not an offense in the Broncos that you
can light up the scoreboard or are good.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
At coming from behind to win the game.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
That they were able to do it against the Giants,
But we all talked about why that was because the
Giants basically laid down and said, you can have the
four quarter, do what you will.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
They kind of had the same problem that Dallas has,
but flipped except they're a little bit closer to where
Dallas wants to be whenever it comes to their unit
that is serviceable while the other unit is elite, their
defense is elite. We talked about that yesterday. If you
asked yesterday's show, we went in detail.
Speaker 7 (24:33):
That wasn't being women gloom, by the way, and there's
a lot of comments that kind of leaned that way
that we're just, you know, no negative.
Speaker 8 (24:40):
But identify the problem without without doing dooming gloom.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
Yeah, I don't think you're just being honest.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
It was what we see on the film and it
is how the how it is going to be a
challenge for the Cowboys offense, which is also extremely good.
Speaker 7 (24:54):
So I think we want you to be informed when
you're watching this show. Yeah, you don't want a bad
performance there on offense on Sunday and be like, well,
who nobody told me that? You know, It's like you
kind of have to expect that.
Speaker 4 (25:06):
We're telling you the truth and we're telling you what
we see day in and day out. And what I
see is a Broncos offense that is serviceable.
Speaker 5 (25:14):
Yeah, they are middle of the packs.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Service need their defense to keep the game close.
Speaker 5 (25:18):
Exactly and any the Broncos.
Speaker 4 (25:22):
Have a higher ceiling than I think the Cowboys defense
does because I think when you're looking at the Broncos offense,
they're probably middle of the pack right now.
Speaker 5 (25:29):
You talked about seventeen, seventeenth, middle of the.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
Pack right now, They're ceiling as an offense is probably
more like eleven or twelve. Like they could get close
to being a top offense in the league because they've
got the weapons and they have pieces on that side
of the ball. The defense for the Cowboys is currently bad,
just statistically ranking. I know they played well last week,
but statistically they're bad. They can get to seventeen or eighteen,
(25:54):
and that would be ideal because you have the number
one offense in the league right now. So that's where
I think there's an edge.
Speaker 5 (26:01):
Right now for the Broncos coming up. And I'm not
making my pick until tomorrow, but.
Speaker 4 (26:05):
That's where that I feel like there's an edge statistically.
And then on the film and why one team is
five and two so far and the other team is three,
three and one.
Speaker 7 (26:14):
If you take out the Giants game just for funzise, right,
if you take out the last week versus the Giants,
their defense allowed an average of eleven points in the
games that they won.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
That's significant, now, flip it look at their offense. So
look at the wins for the offense for the team.
For the Broncos, the win against the Titans twenty points scored.
Speaker 1 (26:32):
It's a Titans, not a ton Yeah, right, that means
the defense did.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
If you win in the NFL scoring twenty points, your
defense has a day.
Speaker 6 (26:40):
Again, eleven points was the average.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
They won against the Bengals, twenty eight points a solid,
but they held the Bengals to a three right fair.
They won against the Eagles by scoring only twenty one points.
Because they held the Eagles to seventeen twenty one. They
barely escaped the Jets. They won that game by scoring
only thirteen points.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
And they one Jets against eleven points.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
Point being, no matter who you're playing, even even with
the Giants, look at this thirty three thirty two, which
was the first time this season that the Broncos mark right.
But then look at how they shut the defense woke
up and shut down. So it doesn't matter if you
scored thirty three points in the fourth quarter if you're
still allowing the Giants to have their way. At a
certain point, the giants of the Broncos defense said enough
(27:24):
is enough. And when they said enough was enough come
the fourth quarter, Giants couldn't get anything at that point
and it was self inflicted wounds as well. My main
point being for as much rightful praise that as we
gave the Broncos defense, because they earned it, and the
Cowboys offense will have to go in take it.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
And I'm so excited about that.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
This is a different conversation for me because again, this
Cowboys offense, I believe if they can replicate what they
did last week against the commanders.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
They could be close to average this week the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
The Cowboys defense, And if you're close to average and
you don't have self inflicted wounds and the Broncos offense
doesn't reach that top tennish area that you're saying that
they're yeah, then then the Cowboys can take this game.
Speaker 7 (28:11):
I would argue that the Broncos offense is not going
to be dropping the passes that Washington was, and they're
not going to be down their top three receivers. So
it's you have to play sound defense. You have to
be aware of those details going in.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
Let's talk about Courtland Sutton a little bit, kind of
tease that, jeez, at the moment, I mean, he's turning
into a legitimate wide receiver. I don't know if I'd
throw him in the elite category yet get him. It
is a good one, but he is right outside of it.
Speaker 5 (28:37):
He's not far off.
Speaker 6 (28:38):
He's making for himself.
Speaker 5 (28:39):
He's a problem.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
The problem.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
He's consistent six four, sixteen, and he's always been a
good receiver.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
Don't get me wrong.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
There's the reason why he's been Timver's number one for
quite some time. But it feels like the end of
last year going into this year, it's a completely different
mindset with Courtland Sutton. How has he become the receiver
that he is now? Isaiah When you look at what
he's doing better.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
He is Sean Payton's new Marcus Coston. Mmm, that's nasty.
That is nasty. That's what he is.
Speaker 8 (29:10):
I don't think he's an immaculate route runner underneath. I
think he's a big time, big play guy. Yep, they'll
throw They'll throw it up to him. Like I was
mentioning about this offense, they want to push the ball
down the field.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
He is their main guy with that.
Speaker 8 (29:22):
And if you want to double up on him, there's
a dude by the name of Mems who will hurt
you as well.
Speaker 5 (29:27):
Former first kill lone star product right here.
Speaker 1 (29:29):
He is quick. I like him, I like.
Speaker 8 (29:31):
His game, and he eats because of absolutely one two
punch no Sierra. I think, yeah, I like I like Sudden.
I like Sudden, but I don't I'm not. I don't
fear Sudden. I think that you if you get your
hands on him at the line of scrimmage and you
stick in his hip pocket, I think you make it
difficult on him. Not because of that I can't put
him in an elite conversation for that reason. I don't
(29:53):
think he's I don't think he's dominant yet, but I
do think he's a problem. And if you allow, if
you run zone and he'll find his way in the zones.
He understands coverage. If you don't get pressure on knicks,
you allow for him to get down the field, and
now he'll knicks with throw it up and it's probably
not a fifty fifty ball, it's probably a seventy thirty
ball to their advantage.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
That's key. What do you think, Pat?
Speaker 3 (30:14):
I agree, And you know what Isaiah said on the
back end of that is this is this is going
to be key to shutting down Courtland. Sutton is panicking
bow knicks, okay, And as an SEC guy, I've seen
plenty of bow knicks before he got to the league, okay,
And then I see a more refined bow knicks, especially
(30:35):
under Sean Payton. But I do still see that that
proclivity to panic when the pressure is in this face. Now,
you have to keep in mind he can make some
plays with his legs, and he's willing to make some
plays with his legs as well, and he's tough. He's
he's not a pushover at quarterback. He's tough, little son
of a gun. But that being said, you can knock
him off of his reads as long as you can
(30:56):
get into the backfield. So this is definitely a game. Obviously,
every game is a gain, and you want to get
home on guys. But I will say some guys you
absolutely have to get home on, like a Patrick Mahomes
for example, you have to get home on him. You
have to get home on the mor.
Speaker 4 (31:09):
You can't let him escape the pocket, right, that's one
hundred percent.
Speaker 6 (31:12):
Can't contain him as far as sacks go. I'm fine
as long as you contain him in.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
The bo Niche though, if you get pressure on him
and knock him off his first or second read, he's shaky,
like yeah, he will throw it up and then you
have opportunities for interceptions and takeaways. And he's he's so
trustful of court and something which is justifiable given what
something can do, that he's going to throw that, Like
Kyle said that fifty to fifty ball up because he's
(31:37):
going to sell Courtland's down there somewhere.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
I've running from my life.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
Courtlands down there somewhere and now comes your opportunity to
come down with players creatives.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
You just have to make sure you come down with
that ball.
Speaker 6 (31:48):
And that's just what we're talking about.
Speaker 7 (31:49):
Even if you're a middle of the road defense, if
you're able to make those plays, my goodness.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
Be average.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
I mean, you can be average, but give me the
splash plays, but also consequently minimize the chunk plays.
Speaker 6 (32:00):
Twenty fourteen Cowboys Defense.
Speaker 1 (32:02):

Speaker 1 (32:21):
Coat, we'll tell you exactly what kind.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
Of adjustments he made, because, good grief, that looked like
an entirely different scheme out this.

It is all right, here's the UH. Well, before we
get in the lab code, I actually have a shout
I want to give. Last night, I had an event
with one of the sponsors in town. I don't know
if they're technically a Cowboy sponsor, but it was here
in the building, so I won't say the name of it.
It was a great No, it wasn't new Era only
it was one of the great UH events that they
(35:34):
put on here and they bring in a bunch of
people from around the area that are like all stars
in their company.
Speaker 5 (35:39):
And it was a Q and A with Tony Romo.
So we did the the Q and A last night.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
It was awesome, so much fun talking to Tony and
kind of going into his background.
Speaker 5 (35:48):
And CBS and stuff. After it was over, everybody.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
Went and took pictures with Tony and I kind of
walked off to the side of the stage. A gentleman
came up to me and he said, I'm a huge
fan of talking cowboy, huge fan of talking cowboys.
Speaker 5 (36:02):
He's from Houston. I can't remember his name. I wish
I knew it.
Speaker 4 (36:06):
I looked at his name tag and I said it
in the moment, but I forgot. I don't want to
say the wrong name. But he came up and he said,
you know, it's funny. Everybody here is like, dude, Tony
Romo's up there. He's like, do you realize that Kyle
from talking? And I was like, that made my day, brother.
It was awesome. It was a great event. And I
wanted to shout out all our talking Cowboys fan.
Speaker 1 (36:27):
Mop to be here because if you see us, if.
Speaker 4 (36:31):
You see us around, I don't want to speak for everybody,
but especially for me, don't talk to me. Other guy, Gosh,
you got to be talked to, all right. Fine, if
you see us in public, though, like say hi, because
we love talking talking with you. Guys, and we'll talk
ball with you too.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
Absolutely, I know you got lab co bro, want you
to make sure you got to be hydrated.
Speaker 5 (36:52):
Let's get into some lab coach, Yes.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
Science, get you some.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Okay, So we're talking about the Cowboys defense versus the
Denver Broncos offense. We would also be remiss if we
didn't continue to praise what happened against the Commanders.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Not because not because we think pulled.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
Up the sign, not because we think the Cowboys suddenly
won the Super Bowl last week. But when you talk
about the the level and the magnitude of adaptation that
finally occurred. It took a while, but better late than never.
Hopefully the Cowboys can replicate it. But let's go through
some of these numbers now. This will be included in
this week's Science Lab column, which will be up on
(37:38):
Dallas Cowboys dot com this morning, thanks in large part
to my friend the webmaster Josh Rodriguez.
Speaker 1 (37:46):
He'll make sure that is up and looking pristine. He
just is. He wakes up in the morning. He pisses excellence.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
So when you looked at when I went back and
I broke down, I was curious. I said, this man
coverage conversation. This man coverage conversation is something that's been
going on for weeks now, okay, but it's one thing
to have the eye test and say, well, clearly they're
running a massive amount of zoning.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
Clearly it's not working for him.
Speaker 8 (38:11):
And even in real time we saw in real time,
we saw clearly they were running a lot of man.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
But I was curious as far as like last week,
I was curious. I said, let's see what the trends say.
So Week one against the Philadelphia Eagles, which is a
game they could have won, I'll give them that. Sure,
they ran man coverage only three percent of the time.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
Week two against it, and remember that was a game
where they did not play zone on any drop back
from Jalen Hurts correct any single drop back. It was
zone all the way through. It was no man whatsoever
in that matchup.
Speaker 1 (38:46):
It was all unbelievable. It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Week two, you go up against the Giants, they played
zone coverage. Well, excuse me, they played man coverage four
percent of the time, three percent in Week one, fault
fault getting better fault four percent of the time in
Week two, Week three, Week four, Week five, Week six.
Make sure you check out Science Lab to get those numbers. Now,
let's go to week seven forty eight percent. What was
(39:10):
that forty eight percent? Compare that up against Week one
three percent, Week two four percent. Forty eight percent of
the time Maddieberflus deployed man coverage against the Commanders and
too great success with that man coverage being deployed. Jaydon
Daniels with in conjunction with Marcus Marriod on the back
end of that five for fifteen fifty seven passing yards
(39:33):
allow forty five point seven passer rating force fumble a
recovered fumble, and I will say, well two and well, yeah,
he had the interception to pick six that was actually
in zone, so I'll give them credit for that that
was in zone. But for the most part, that was
a dominant performance and it was tied to man. Now,
I will also give you one more step yards per
play allowed in man coverage against the Commanders. Two point nine.
(39:58):
I'm sorry what two point nine? Only three trait?
Speaker 1 (40:01):
I wish?
Speaker 5 (40:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (40:04):
Is in this economy? Absolutely just a day all of them.
My pockets is so much better.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
Only three yards allowed per play and for my twelve dollars,
Banders versus would you like to guess what yards per
play were in zone coverage against.
Speaker 6 (40:21):
The community, I don't know, maybe eleven close.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
What do you got yards per play allowed in zone
coverage against the Commanders?
Speaker 8 (40:29):
Oh, seventeen mm? It was thirteen or sixteen point nine?
It was nine eight point seven to be specific.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
So basically, what I'm saying is this is almost a
six yard a difference. You you allowed six fewer yards
per play when you were in man coverage. You ran
man coverage forty eight percent of the time, and that
was in.
Speaker 5 (40:49):
A poor performance on the offensive side from Washington, yep.
Speaker 4 (40:53):
So take that number across the entire season, and I
guarantee it's much higher than.
Speaker 1 (40:58):
The added beauty of this is.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
And this is also something I mentioned in Science Lab
is we are not saying, and I don't want to
speak for everyone, but by all means to it, we
are not saying we want the Cowboys to run man
coverage one hundred percent of the tame. No, that's not
what we're saying. It's also not realistic. Okay, what we're
saying is we didn't want you to run zone coverage
one hundred percent of the time. Yes, but that's not
(41:21):
simply because your personnel is designed for man and man press.
But it's also because it goes to predictability. You're not
giving You were not giving opposing offenses much to scheme
against because they knew that when they came in you
were a zone team, and that's it.
Speaker 1 (41:36):
We don't have to prepare for man.
Speaker 3 (41:38):
Now, if you're keeping this at forty eight forty nine,
maybe you tap dance around fifty to fifty between zone
and man.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
Now they gotta work. Now, they got to guess. Now
they got to try to figure it out. What's up.
Was that Dallas's best pass rush game?
Speaker 4 (41:55):
It definitely, that's for sure, Okay, but it would be
the best one against the formidable opponent.
Speaker 5 (42:00):
I would I would contend.
Speaker 1 (42:01):
It was their best coverage game. That's that's just so
coverage helped the past rush.
Speaker 3 (42:08):
Maybe a little bit coverage can generate past rush, just
as past rush can help coverage.
Speaker 1 (42:15):
You just can't be bad at both. I like those numbers,
just can't be bad at both things. Three quarters of
the Giants game against the Broncos, in which they caused
a lot of what coverage?
Speaker 14 (42:27):
Were they playing again playing man man? And when they
opt in the play zone. Put up there, taken to
the back. Yeah, so you're there, So.
Speaker 1 (42:38):
You're saying that the Cowboys should continue. That is what
I see. If you're what I say, that's what the
numbers say.
Speaker 6 (42:49):
The aftermath, if you will the science.
Speaker 1 (42:53):
Math No dre and im though. No. Okay.
Speaker 3 (42:57):
So yeah, that is this week's episode of lab Coat.
Make sure you check out Science Lab. Where can they
find it at Dallas Cowboys dot com. It'll be up
in live this morning and it goes from week three week.
It shows a lot of different deep dive and everything.
It's just a good read. I think it's a good read.
I think it's a good read.
Speaker 8 (43:16):
I always pour my soul into those sciences and thank
you for reading.
Speaker 1 (43:20):
Gentlemen.
Speaker 7 (43:21):
I will say, if you read Science Lab, there is
no other human being in the world that can write
like that. It is so very Patrick, like I seriously,
I don't think anybody else has a column quite like that.
So the Patrick it's really it's a fun read. And
all the references that he throws in there, it's.
Speaker 5 (43:40):
It's it is a fun read, and it's it was.
Speaker 6 (43:43):
Captain America like I understood that reference.
Speaker 3 (43:44):
Analytic people go open it up okay, but they only
when you can make them relatable and digestible. That's the
purpose of science Lab is to give you the hard data,
but to give you the ice cream with the metain.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
Can they share that link on Facebook? Yeah? Yeah, absolutely
they could take that. That's what they could read it.
Speaker 8 (44:06):
That's the thing, and then take the pick it up,
pick it up, it downrop it down, share you get.
Speaker 4 (44:12):
Your This has just been a show of promotion, is
what it ends upcoming.
Speaker 5 (44:19):
But no, no, it is a great it's a great article.
And I would mean.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
New era the uh the I love looking across the
bullpen that we've got with all of our our cubicles,
and I just see you like diving in on film
and analytics and all sorts of stuff.
Speaker 7 (44:37):
Patrick, he's got his beakers and potions yea burth jars like.
Speaker 3 (44:42):
A bunch of like numbers and stats. Yeah, And I
just like, oh man, sometimes I just like it when
it's time for science Lap specifically just I mean this cocktail,
I just go full raiment.
Speaker 5 (44:52):
I'm like trying to tell Patrick something.
Speaker 4 (44:54):
I'm like Patrick, no, no, and he doesn't.
Speaker 3 (44:57):
I got the earbuds in and it's just like it's
me and it's the data.
Speaker 7 (45:01):
And know his desk is stacked with earthen jars.
Speaker 6 (45:05):
It's a field in it he's examining.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
He shouts out to Pete.
Speaker 7 (45:08):
Pete said, that wouldn't mean with the guy with the
goggles like doing the Yeah, you know, I'm telling.
Speaker 3 (45:13):
What that's Patrick heat in the chat said, when it
comes to media, no seas man coverage, I am man. Hey,
I'm getting up on the line of scripts, right, I'm
not backing off.
Speaker 1 (45:21):
I'm not playing zone only forty eight percent of the time.
Speaker 14 (45:24):
No, No, I'm playing man what a hundred per We
don't want it one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
Of the time. We don't want them to do it
one hundred percent of the time.
Speaker 3 (45:31):
But when it comes to getting this science out, I
ain't running his own coverage.
Speaker 1 (45:34):
I'm pressing the data at the line of scrimmage. Right,
I need I need that, he needs that.
Speaker 4 (45:40):
I love it all right, Tomorrow say with your chest Friday,
we'll give our pick'ms.
Speaker 1 (45:45):
