that's awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
I love that intro. The boy heard it from down
not even that the whole thing, the whole thing. I
heard it from down the hall.
Speaker 5 (01:13):
I tried to do a little YenS A wonderful so wonderful.
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Yeah, No, I heard it.
Speaker 2 (01:17):
It was awesome.
Speaker 5 (01:18):
And we got in the back shots. Christy in the
back shouts to Phisika in the back.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Make sure she's on her chair.
Speaker 6 (01:24):
Yeah, sure, I think falling out of a chair that
has a backing on it, it doesn't deserve a shoutout
of her plunk.
Speaker 5 (01:29):
Let's put that out there.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
She fell.
Speaker 5 (01:31):
She fell out of her chair yesterday.
Speaker 7 (01:32):
Oh and we're airing it out right now on the
it was.
Speaker 5 (01:39):
Breaking news. Questionable to return to work. It was the
slowest thing, you see. It's like slowly adjusting your chair.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Leusica back question.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Whenever she took this job as a part of the
Cowboys organization, she was like, Wow, I'm probably I'm excited
to work on the website. She didn't know her like,
embarrassing moments of work are gonna also be broadcast.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
Oh yeah, absolutely, occupational hazard.
Speaker 4 (02:09):
She's one of the best in the business.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
She helps us stay on the air and get on
the air and do everything the right way.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
Keeps everybody up beat. Yeah, even though she just said
two seconds ago, like I don't need you all right, she.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Yeah, that's motivation.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Also a great quote from last week. Out of context,
she goes, uh, this is my favorite thing in the world.
She goes, that's your problem. You're thinking about other people.
Speaker 7 (02:33):
One thing this world has too much of right now,
it's empathy.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
It's just pouring over.
Speaker 5 (02:40):
That's your problem. You're thinking about problem.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
We've been trying to tell people to be nice to
people in the comment section, and Patrick's like, nah, screw that,
get after him.
Speaker 5 (02:50):
Lack of empathy.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Here we go. Oh, good morning, everybody, wonderful. Sorry late
I got.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Cotton draft traffic, traffic, traffic destroyed.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Me to feed. Yeah, that's it. Kyle Laitman's there. It
is all right.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Let's get into some news and notes. Cowboys off yesterday.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
Not a ton of news and notes.
Speaker 7 (03:08):
Uh, I mean we talked about one part of it,
which was Buddy Johnson, linebacker got poached from the practice
squad by the Indianapolis coach by buy. That seat was
immediately filled by a reunion with Paris Campbell.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Paris Campbell is back on the what a practice question?
Speaker 5 (03:26):
What an unproblematic decision?
Speaker 7 (03:30):
Well, so the thing is is that I know a
lot of people were wondering because I got some tweets
about it yesterday saying that you know, it wasn't he
heard in training camp? Yes, yes he was, yeah, and
he was waved injured and now he's been medically cleared
to play again.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
So he's back and he's a practice squad. So there
you go.
Speaker 7 (03:45):
Buddy Johnson is going to Indianapolis to their active fifty
three man roster, and here comes Paris Campbell for a
second attempt at the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
I think the Paris Campbell confusion happened because originally it
was feared to be a severe injury. It was feared
to be an ACL or an MCL or whatever, and
it was just a sprain to MCL, was not torn.
It wasn't a big deal. I mean, it's a big deal.
It's a that's a knee and it's a ligament as
a wide receiver. However, the timetable was not a big
(04:12):
deal to what it was originally feared to be. So yeah,
now that he's medically cleared, he has an opportunity to
come back.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
I like Paris Campbell. I liked him as a veteran.
Speaker 3 (04:20):
Addition, is he going to be a guy that fights
for your fifty three man roster? Probably he's upright on
that bubble along with some of the guys that we've
talked about, Ryan Flinoy, Jonathan Mingo.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
We haven't seen much of Paris Campbell.
Speaker 7 (04:33):
He does bring you some speed that you don't have
in some of those other players that you named. So
when you're talking about experience that you got Ryan Flinoy,
he's physical and he a text the ball, and he's
a great route runner. But Paris Campbell is faster and
he has a little bit more experience in the league.
When you talk about Jaalen Tobert, obviously Paris Campbell is faster,
has more experience in the league. And you can go
(04:54):
down the list from there.
Speaker 5 (04:55):
So wait a second, hold on, what are there a
numbers that are available for him with be like eighty
maybe right.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
That's what he in camp was eighty eight.
Speaker 5 (05:06):
Oh well, then what what number did they give him?
Speaker 8 (05:10):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (05:10):
They gave him number eleven.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Oh it's an offensive guy, though, Just don't have a
lot of choices.
Speaker 5 (05:19):
You're running out of the Cowboys.
Speaker 7 (05:21):
Did infect assign didn't effect assigned Paris Campbell number eleven,
the former number of one. You know, young man who
played here on Sunday in his return game.
Speaker 5 (05:32):
I still.
Speaker 4 (05:35):
Hey, he was a white out, uh.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
One hundred stings.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
I still wish they would have put Donovan as a
roku and eleven.
Speaker 7 (05:43):
Just honestly, I think after MICA's christ fun I think
after MICA's comments on Sundays about how.
Speaker 2 (05:51):
If Jerry was a real man, he would have called me.
Speaker 7 (05:53):
I think if after hearing that, if the league allowed
as Rocu's number to be changed, it'd be number eleven.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (06:01):
I just don't think it's a cool incidence that a
few days after that, Jerry's like, you know what, put
his number on anybody, anybody.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
As Rockby might be waiting on six. That's what he
were at Boston College. So maybe he's waiting on that.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
Intimating over a couple of years.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
Not right now.
Speaker 5 (06:20):
He's trying to send somebody off the bill.
Speaker 7 (06:23):
He's Kyle, Now, see what I meant, just saying too
much empathy and too much empathy in that.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
That's donna think about other people.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
And you're staying on your chair.
Speaker 4 (06:34):
I'm sure everybody that's watched the safety play this year.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Is like, yeah, dude, yeah, stay with your chats.
Speaker 7 (06:42):
The pot I'm talking about a number, a number, But no,
that's the only those are the only news.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
It was.
Speaker 7 (06:48):
In notes from yesterday Today, the Cowboys are back at
practice for their first full practice in preparation for their
trip to New York slash New Jersey to take on
the windless Jets. But I said that a certain way
because they were taking on the windless Bears not long
ago when we saw how that twins.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
You know how many times the Jets have been in
some bad situations recently, I saw it.
Speaker 4 (07:17):
Tommy is just happy to.
Speaker 8 (07:18):
Be yeah, man, I love spending time with you guys.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Thanks Tommy. The Jets have been at a rough spot recently.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
But do you want to know how many times a
first year head coach for the Jets have started?
Speaker 4 (07:28):
And five?
Speaker 3 (07:29):
They've gone through some coaches. Now, you know how many times?
How many times they've started? Oh and four it's been
it's happened multiple times. You know how many times they've started?
Speaker 9 (07:38):
And five?
Speaker 2 (07:39):
Never zero, not a.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
Single time, a single time. A first year Jets head
coaches say.
Speaker 5 (07:47):
They've won four out of the last five meetings with
the Cowboys, as well, having won in.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
New York against the Jets specifically since two thousand and three.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
They've won a lot of new on the Giants pretty good.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
But they winning against the Jets on the road hasn't
happened since two thousand and three. So Tommy, where were
you in two thousand and three?
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Uh?
Speaker 8 (08:06):
Newborn?
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Yeah, that's what I thought.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
All Right, sir, it's been a minute since all that
has happened. So you can't walk in and sleep walk
into this matchup, Tommy, No, you can't.
Speaker 6 (08:16):
Because I think the Jets have a lot of things
that can attack the Cowboys weaknesses. They have a mobile
quarterback and Justin Fields, who is lethal with his legs.
It's a guy that Maddy Berflus is going to be
familiar with. He spent some time with him in Chicago.
I think it was the first was the last two
years that Justin Fields was there, and so you know,
this is a guy that he knows well, and then
he knows can once he gets outside the pocket, he
(08:37):
can be really creative. You saw the forty three yard
touchdown on Monday Night Football against the Dolphins. And they've
got some very good star players. It's just a matter
of everybody else around them really stepping up and making plays.
You know, on offense, you think about Garrett Wilson, who
is getting nearly thirty five percent of the targets I
think for the Jets, I think over fifty percent of
(09:00):
their air yards.
Speaker 8 (09:01):
So they want to feed him the ball.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
He's a dynamic receiver, super athletic playmaker that can beat
you north and south and east and west. And then defensively,
Quinn Williams in the middle of the defensive line, one
of the best defensive tackles in all of football.
Speaker 8 (09:14):
And then Sauce.
Speaker 6 (09:15):
Gardner at corner, one of the best corners in football.
So this is not going to be an easy game.
I don't think for the Cowboys. It's a a very
talented to four team that they're going to have to
do a lot of things right that they haven't been
doing right if they want to come out with a win.
Speaker 5 (09:30):
Now they want to get right. Guess who they get
to face this week? Who's that the Dallas Cowboys defense?
Speaker 4 (09:36):
Oh yeah, yikes?
Speaker 5 (09:39):
No, I think they're ranked thirty second in the league.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
How many teams are there?
Speaker 2 (09:44):
Thirty two?
Speaker 5 (09:45):
Oh yeah, so that I don't think that's very high
in terms of the rankings. It's not good, Bob, wherever
you are, Bob, that great Bob. The one thing I mean,
they are to four now, right, and the presint penalties
are killing them.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
Yeap.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
Obviously, I think they need to simplify their looks, clean
up the motion that they're trying to do because it
seems like a very over complicated offense. But the one
thing that they really have working for them in terms
of offense, because they're gaining a lot of yard is
right Breues Hall is killing him justin fields and the
threat of the RPO. For me, at least, I don't
know how Dallas defends it. I really don't at this point.
(10:23):
Looking at the communication problems that you've had on defense
so far this year, a lot of teams are not
necessarily falling for it. Granted, you know, Miami let forty
three yard just in field scramble touchdown the other day.
Dallas is going to fall for it. They just are
not communicating well. They don't have the personnel at the
second or third levels to stop what they're doing. I
(10:46):
think this is going to be one of those games
where Dak Will and the offense will need to score,
you know, forty to fifty to even have a shot
at winning this game.
Speaker 2 (10:54):
So I don't I don't disagree with Josh.
Speaker 7 (10:57):
I think there's a high probability of the Cowboys falling
for the banana and the tailpipe when it comes to
another mobile quarterback. When you look at you got to
know the reference. Oh Okay, when you look at who
they've played thus far, every single one of these teams,
with the exception of an older Russell Wilson, could still
escape everyone.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
In a way.
Speaker 7 (11:17):
These are all mobile quarterbacks and they've struggled in each
of these games to try to stop these guys. And
then when you look at Jordan Love just a few
days ago, Kenny Clark and Osin Sally when they were
able to collapse the pocket from the inside, all Jordan
Love did was break contained because the defensive ends couldn't
keep contained, and once he got out of the pocket,
he was able to do some damage and extended plays.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
Now is justin Fields and Jordan Love.
Speaker 7 (11:39):
You know, are they on the same planet when it
comes to throwing the ball? No, no, they are not.
But the reality is in this league is if you
have a mobile quarterback who can escape the pocket, then
he can move the change and if he can move
the chains, then he can extend drives. And by doing that,
you now get time of possession in your favor if
you're the opposition, which then keeps your number one ranked
(12:02):
offense off of the field for an extended period of time.
And that's going to be Aaron Glenn's plan. His plan
is going to be to use Justin Fields to try
to keep Dak Prescott off the field.
Speaker 5 (12:12):
But I mean, granted, we took on Justin Fields last
year when he was with the Steelers, and we thought
the same thing going into that game. He's a dual
threat quarterback and at the time our defense wasn't great
at dual threat quarterbacks. Not much has changed in those terms.
But he didn't kill you because for whatever reason, Mike
Tomlin and the Steelers decided like, no, let's keep him
a pocket passer and not use the dual threat that
(12:34):
we have available to us.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Thanks for that.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (12:37):
By the way, mistakes happening again, It's.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
Not going to happen again with Aaron Glenn.
Speaker 6 (12:41):
And I think what with Fields, what's interesting is going
back to his days at Ohio State, is whenever you
beat Justin Fields, you have to beat him by making
him throw the ball.
Speaker 8 (12:49):
But he's really good with his deep ball.
Speaker 6 (12:52):
I think it's really the short to intermediate stuff that
he's not as great with some friends, and he can
miss some throws, but when he throws the ball deep,
I mean, I always think back to the college football
playoff game and the deep ball to Chris Olave and
that's one of.
Speaker 8 (13:04):
The best deep throw deep throws I've ever seen.
Speaker 6 (13:07):
And he's still able to hit those and still in
rhythm and make those throws. But if you can get
him in the short to intermediate game, and I think
when you looked at the tape from last week, I
think Dallas, believe it or not, giving up three hundred
and thirty yards, did a much better job taking.
Speaker 8 (13:20):
Away the deep downfield.
Speaker 6 (13:22):
Big play where they got beat was the short game,
the screen passes.
Speaker 5 (13:26):
And mistack nobody could tackle.
Speaker 8 (13:28):
They had what eighteen mistackles I think, and that's was
fourteen but yeah, man, okay, sorry.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
I think.
Speaker 6 (13:36):
Fourteen eighteen. They had a lot of them, way too
many than way more than you need to have. So
if if that's where the Jets are going to attack
you in that short game or getting fields outside, this
defense has got to tackle. I mean, they can take
away the deep ball, and that's what you have to
do against justin fields when you have a guy like
Garret Wilson out there, But if they can't tackle and
(13:57):
get this guy in open space, then he's gonna run
all over and he's going to I could see him
rushing for two hundred yards seriously, because he's I think
he's that good with his legs when he's in ulple space.
Speaker 3 (14:07):
Remember the stat I gave last week on Friday where
Dallas had given up more deep passing yards than any
other defense in the next Gen stats era, and they
were going up against the quarterback that since twenty twenty
three he had thrown for more deep yards than any
quarterback in the NFL in Jordan Love. The fact that
they were able to communicate on the back end and
avoid the big play is what kept them even remotely
(14:30):
in the game, even though I know they scored on
the five straight possessions at the end of the game.
We can talk about that too when we're talking about
this defense, because it's good with the bat, but the
communication was better.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Better Now it has to be immaculate. Yes, it has to.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Go from being better into rpo defense, and not even
on the back end with the safety position only, but
your linebackers have to be perfect in their communication and
coverage because of what happened so quickly in those short
to intermediate routes. And that's part of why Aaron Glenn
wants to run that RPO so effectively, so that way
it does take away some of the weaknesses of Justin Fields.
(15:06):
He's trying to make it all simple on him, and
that's what we've seen.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
Through the first four weeks. And Justin Fields is not
playing poor football. Oh they're owing four, that's that's a problem,
and that the Jets are feeling like, oh, we're just
a couple of plays away from being either two and
two or three and one.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
And he missed a game in there too. All of
that being said, don't go into this thinking Justin Fields
is just playing bad football.
Speaker 5 (15:29):
No, against this defense, I easily think you could replicate
like a two thousand and four Madden where Michael Vick
is just running all over like it could.
Speaker 4 (15:39):
Literally be one of those where no Bulbo Jackson, like.
Speaker 5 (15:43):
He could run for three hundred rushing yards and you
wouldn't be able to stop him.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
Like.
Speaker 5 (15:46):
That's That's where I'm like, I don't have I have
zero confidence in this defense right now to stop Justin Fields.
And I think that is the biggest problem that we have.
Speaker 7 (15:55):
Well, I tell you, and we can draw that rid
circle around the obvious brain fart that happened from merist
as far as that penalty is concerned. But it's also
true that I still want to see the unleashing of
merist lea foul. I said it yesterday, Marris LeFou will
never make that mistake again, probably ever again, in the
hope that in the entirety of his NFL career, he's
(16:16):
just he's too smart of a player for me to
assume that that would happen again. He got, he got,
he got a little emotional. I don't see that happening again.
But it's also true that without Maryus leafile getting the
chunk of snaps over a guy like Jack Samborn, for example,
and you're going against all these mobile quarterbacks, look at
the common denominators plural. As far as the inability of
(16:37):
this linebacker cord to help the defensive ends keep these
these mobile quarterbacks from breaking the line of scrimmage, I
would like to see it. I've said it before, I'll
say it again. I would like to see Marus leaf
file in a spy capacity, even if it's not full
on spy capacity, even if it's spot you know, here
and there, just to give Aaron Glenn the idea that hey,
(16:58):
he can do it, is he do them to this play?
Is he not doing on his play? Make Justin Fields think.
If you make Justin Fields think in process, then you
can make him go through his reads quicker and then
he can start to make those mistakes.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
You remember how earlier you said I was gonna stir
the pot. Yeah, I was trying to stir the pot.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Stir it.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
I want to stir it with marislea foul when we
come back on the other side.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
Of the break because he did get snaps? Was the
experiment done well? When we come back with more talking
cowboys right after this?

It was Marius Leah Foul Paul playoffs.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
The postseason started the other day too. You want to
know who went zero for three on tackle attempts this
past weekend?
Speaker 4 (20:08):
Is Marius lea Foul.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
He did not have a single pressure, He did not
have a single tackle. You know what he did have
on the box score, he had three misstackles and a
fifteen yard penalty he.
Speaker 8 (20:19):
Did and sixteen miss tacklings allowed.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
It was not good and he got some snaps.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
We've been calling to see Marius leafoul play and I'm
on this boat too. Mary's LEAFA defensive snap count in
the first three weeks. This is according to Nick Harris
on Twitter, twenty three over the first three weeks. Defensive
snap count for Marrius Leah foul in week four was
twenty nine, So he had six more snaps in week
four than he did the entire first three weeks of
the season combined. So with all of that being said,
(20:52):
did you like the way he was utilized in the
defense and do you feel like there are ways that
he can be utilized better? Or is this just a
mayor foul problem and it's why he wasn't getting the
snaps to start.
Speaker 7 (21:03):
It's not a merestlely a foul problem because the huge
chunk of data suggests otherwise. Look at him over the
totality of his rookie season with Mike Zimmer right, he
performed so well, not only in hitting the ground running,
but doing so as the green dot for Mike zimmer
in a much more It was simplified, but it was
a much more complex defense than with there running right now. Sure, okay,
(21:24):
so I've seen Marrisleafoule. We watched him in training camp
be one of the standouts of training camp, absolute monster
in training camp. And you're to tell me that one
bad day of the office and make the mistake about it.
It was a bad, bad day of the office. One
bad day at the office does not define what that
young man is capable of. So I still want to
see more of mayorslia Foul. And as far as the
(21:45):
utilization goes, No, I don't like how he's being used.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
I would like to see him.
Speaker 7 (21:51):
We say the word spy a lot on this show
because you keep going against these mobile quarterbacks. We've not
seen Merrisliafoul operating that role quite yet. So there's a
huge no for me. I want to see more of that.
I don't like that utilization or lack They will, And
then when he's rotated in, I don't necessarily not every
time there are spots well I'm like, okay, that's okay,
I like that, But then there are.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Spots when I'm like, mmm, not so much.
Speaker 7 (22:13):
I think eba flus is trying to figure out how
to use Marius leafoul and that's creating a loosely stated
a mares lea foul problem as far as what they
want to do versus what he can do. Just just
send him out there and let him play ball. Just
send him out there and let him play ball. They're
overthinking it.
Speaker 8 (22:32):
Got a question for you, guys, what's that.
Speaker 6 (22:34):
There's one linebacker this past week who did not have
a mistackle but had five tackles on the game.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
Jamar James.
Speaker 8 (22:42):
Samar James, Oh good. I'm just saying he was active.
Speaker 6 (22:47):
He was active for the first time, and I thought
for the for his first NFL game, and for as
much as we talked about during the draft process, I'm
during training camp. This is a guy who who's got
the traits. He can react really quickly. He shoots the
gaps well. But it's a processing thing with him, right,
is he's seeing everything right, But if.
Speaker 5 (23:05):
He doesn't, he's fast enough to get there.
Speaker 6 (23:07):
Yes, But sometimes when you saw us tape at Florida,
he would overcompensate in overshooting that would cause you know,
plays to be made.
Speaker 3 (23:13):
There were some big plays on him at Florida because
of that.
Speaker 6 (23:16):
Absolutely not Sunday, I thought he played pretty well for
his first game, twenty four snaps. If you get five
tackles no miss tackles, then you get a stop too.
I think you take that and run with it.
Speaker 7 (23:27):
I do want to see more of Shamar really quickly.
To address the comment, listen to the whole statement. I
said Maris was a monster in training camp. Also said
he did extremely well his entire rookie season. Yeah, nine stars,
fifty combined tackles, went and a half sex, two forced fumbles,
three pass deflections, and four tackles for a loss. So no,
(23:48):
he's not just an ox gnart monster. Just wanted to
clarify that.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
Continue.
Speaker 4 (23:51):
Yeah, he played well last year.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
He didn't played well last year, and at the.
Speaker 8 (23:54):
End of last year, I thought he came on pretty nice.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
Absolutely, you just.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
Can't wait that long this time around here right now
him to come on now, right now.
Speaker 5 (24:01):
But I don't think you see miss tackles like that.
How you been playing more throughout the first few games,
And I mean, I think that's part of rust for him.
He's been making special teams plays since the beginning of
the season, since the beginning of training camp. Yeah, the
more you get him involved, the better he will be.
And you add that with Shamar James starting to cook.
I think those are the two best options you have
(24:22):
at linebacker. Yet they have not made that switch because
they are dead set on Sanborn and Murray being your
two main guys. Which do you, man?
Speaker 2 (24:32):
I will say Murray Murray.
Speaker 7 (24:34):
Murray has definitely started to come on strong after a
slow start in Philadelpha.
Speaker 5 (24:38):
Murray had a great game, great Week two. I didn't
see it as much to the last two weeks, but.
Speaker 7 (24:43):
Yeah, he's starting to solidify. Sandborn though, real quick.
Speaker 8 (24:49):
Can we get back to the special teams play that Marris.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Made, Yes, the one on Matthew Golden, Matthew, you're my dog,
great Texas, Yeah, you're my guy.
Speaker 6 (25:00):
Why on earth did you hit a spin move? Why
there was no reason to spin? I mean he was
trying to. It looked like he was trying to add
aura points or something.
Speaker 8 (25:08):
And quick credible of Turin was.
Speaker 6 (25:14):
Like the sonic rings just flew out of him when
he when he got hit.
Speaker 8 (25:18):
But I watched her back like, why did you get
a spin move? Come on, dog, I know you're better
than that.
Speaker 3 (25:22):
That might have been the loudest that I've heard in
the press box in a long time, because you're not
supposed to make audible noises in the press box. But
when he got crunched, it was the whole press.
Speaker 12 (25:35):
Box, the Packers media, the Cowboys media, the national media.
There's a guy from the Ringer in front of me,
and he went like this with the surrender. Cobero like
is he okay?
Speaker 3 (25:47):
From the ring Like the independent neurologist who read more
own on the sideline, like do I need to help.
Speaker 5 (25:56):
One more reference to Fasika. She turned to me at
the game, she was is that allowed? I was like, yeah,
it was a clean itch.
Speaker 4 (26:04):
He goes so violent, It was so clean, very so perfect.
Speaker 7 (26:08):
I actually thought they threw a flag. It was we've
seen that that they throw a flag. You know, that's
just too good.
Speaker 6 (26:14):
It was just it was made worse by the fact
that he spun for no reason whatsoever, right into it.
Speaker 3 (26:20):
So even the rest are down there like I'm not
gonna throw a flag on this he spun.
Speaker 5 (26:25):
If there were robo Dobbs, his guardian cap would have
like flown up, gone dude.
Speaker 6 (26:35):
That's why he had three touchdowns because his guardian cap
was so big that Jordan loved to where he was
all the time.
Speaker 4 (26:40):
It was like a big It was like.
Speaker 8 (26:42):
It was like a beacon almost like one of.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
The things you got there is spaceballs.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
It was the spaceballs.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
Going back to Justin Field's I know, Josh, you were
reading a comment a moment ago.
Speaker 5 (26:56):
Yeah, Melvin in the comments and chess you Melvin. He's
constant in the chat and shouts to but he says,
are we going to pretend that Justin Fields is good? Now?
And I I argue this, what quarterback is not going
to look good against this Cowboys defense? And that's also
not to say that he isn't good. I would put
(27:17):
him in the top twelve of quarterbacks currently like right now,
not that that's a super high tier, but I think
you're not giving him enough credit there. And against this defense,
we're talking about a guy that is going to kill
you unless you contain him.
Speaker 7 (27:32):
They said they said Russell Wilson was washed. Not to
say that that's not true.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
But I'm about to say I said that.
Speaker 7 (27:41):
Yeah, he came in through for five hundred yards. Yeah, okay,
we did say the ball was a problem. It wasn't
a problem, did say Caleb Williams was come on that
this energy about, oh are we pretending Justin Fields is good?
That was the same energy given to Caleb Williams and
the you know, windless Bears before the Cowboys went up there.
And I also thought that with pressure on defense, hope
(28:01):
Caleb Williams win NFC Player of the Week. So those
instances alone are enough for us to give Justin Fields
to respect going up against the thirty second ranked defense.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
So that brings my new question with this Jets offense struggling.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
They're one of the only teams in the.
Speaker 3 (28:20):
Super Bowl era to have seven or more turnovers and
zero takeaways. They have not had a takeaway on defense yet,
so they are minus seven in the take or in
the turnover margin at the moment. So they are giving
you chances, they are giving up possessions, they are not
taking care of the football, and their offense is struggling
because of it.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
Outside of guys like.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
Justin Fields, who's playing decent, and then you have Garrett
Wilson who's playing out of his mind.
Speaker 4 (28:46):
I mean, Garrett Wilson's a dog.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
He's one of the.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
Better wide receivers in the country, and that's why they
paid him, Breeze Hall one of the better running backs
in terms of numbers.
Speaker 5 (28:55):
Right now, as Taylor is going to kill you problems.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
Taylor's been looking decent. All of this being said, is
the defense for the Cowboys the pharmacy for the Jets offense,
or is the Jets offense, who has had some up
and down themselves the pharmacy for the Cowboys defense.
Speaker 6 (29:13):
I think it could be a mixture of both. I
think this is gonna be a closer game than people realize.
I wouldn't be shocked, honestly if the Cowboys lost this
game whatsoever, and not just don't those well I'm sorry,
but you know you don't have too much confidence in
this defense right now. And when you're playing like that
and you're asking your offense, hey, we need to just
score forty points every week, that's just not sustainable, right
(29:34):
And so eventually it's going to come back to bite you,
and eventually it's going to catch up to you. And
I think this Jets defense does have a lot of
really good players. We talked about Gardner and Williams, but
I mean will McDonald off the edge. He's a guy
that has kind of taken some time to find his
footing after coming out of Iowa State, and he leads
the team in sacks with two.
Speaker 8 (29:52):
So it can definitely be.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
A pharmacy for this for this defense. And they because
they have playmakers outside that can that can pick off passes,
and they've got guys that can stop the run. They've
got guys in the middle really at all levels of
their defense. Maybe the linebacker corps guess would be the
spot to attack them. But and then offensively, you know,
I'm not going to say that Justin Fields is an elite.
I wouldn't say he's a top twelve quarterback. No, no, disresp.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
Fifteen, I don't know somewhere, but I mean he.
Speaker 6 (30:20):
Has everything, you know, he like Like you said, though,
it's what quarterback wouldn't have success against this Cowboys defense
right now that they're finding ways to all posing offenses
are finding ways to attack them. So yeah, you know,
I think that this game is I guess trap game
would be maybe too much you look at.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
Zero to four and one.
Speaker 8 (30:42):
Yeah, well that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (30:45):
But even still it's like, oh, it's the Jets, because
the thing about the Jets has always been the Jets
and New York yeah, exactly.
Speaker 8 (30:52):
But and that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (30:54):
I think you look at the week before that you
beat the Giants, all we hung forty points. We can
go do this on anybody. The Bears down like their
starting defenders. Well, that's easy work and it wasn't.
Speaker 5 (31:04):
So at this point of the season, you cannot take
any team for granted.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Agreed, you're one twoin one. You can't take any play
for granted.
Speaker 7 (31:13):
And to answer your question, Cayle, I don't I think
any team that has a quarterback that can escape the
pocket with his legs and extend plays, I don't see
how that team could be the pharmacy for what ails
the defense. This defense feels like they're not going to
get home until they come up against a quarterback that's
a pocket passer, that's a pure pocket passer and more
(31:33):
of a statue. But that being said, I think for
the defense, the Cowboys defense, the pharmacy.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
The prescriptions are currently on the reserve waiting to get back.
Speaker 7 (31:44):
So whether you're talking about Tomorvey on over shown who
is aiming towards mid season, which should be three to
four more weeks, we'll see how that plays out.
Speaker 4 (31:52):
So you're saying the Cowboys need an actual farm.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
They need an actual pharmacy. There you go.
Speaker 7 (31:57):
So Demo, he's on his way back. Give him a
few more weeks and I say this next thing with
an asterisk, and Kyle will agree, and Josh and I
know Tommy will as well. Savone revel super high ceiling.
But even when he comes, you know, makes his debut,
you have to give that rookie some grace again, right,
he has not played a snap since September at East Carolina,
and he's going to have to, you know, combine the
(32:19):
mental fortitude of getting over that devastating injury with the
physical part of the rookie curve. He as to the
rookie learning curve. So but I say all of that
to say, you know you have help on the way.
You really do as far as the prescriptions for what
ails you. And both linebacker and in the secondary, we'll see,
you know, one of your Thomas. He's going to get
(32:40):
the start. I think he's going to show some things
with Malie Cooker's sideline with that toe. But I just
I can't look at the thirty second ranked defense and
then look at the schedule to come and say, oh
that team is the possible or that team? Well no,
because even the Panthers with Bryce Young again, these are
mobile quarterbacks. You're going again, So your medicine better come
from inside.
Speaker 5 (33:00):
Our medicine. Our pharmacy at this point is like a
store from twenty eight days later. You know what I mean,
ransacked ystopian man, not good man.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
It's not good buddy.
Speaker 3 (33:15):
It's the only thing I can think of of this
whole segment is when uh Tommy brought up Will McDonald
and in my head I said, had a pharmacy old
McDonald or Will McDon pharmacy?
Speaker 4 (33:29):
E I E I oh. All right, when we come
back as three kids, I want to take a look. Yeah,
I've got kids. You are such a sorry.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
We're learning our ABC's right, it's part of it. Yeah,
I gotta do what you gotta do, all right. When
we come back, I want to take a look around
the NFC East. It's been now a month since we've
last talked about the NFC East.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
So if you want to get mad about us talking
about the Eagles, Giants and Commanders on a Cowboys podcast,
well too bad. We've waited a month to do.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
So it's going into October what is the state of
the NFC East currently when it comes to the boys
trying to play ketchup at this point when we come
back with more talking cowboys after this ew catchup.
Speaker 5 (34:07):
I'm home.
Speaker 6 (34:07):
Hey, mom, before you ask, I've done my homework and
the dishwashers unloading.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Nice.
Speaker 8 (34:12):
Hey can you ahn?
Speaker 4 (34:13):
Yes, I've got the finale ready to play.
Speaker 8 (34:15):
Here's your wine?
Speaker 4 (34:16):
Wow? Isn't it nice not having to ask?
Speaker 2 (34:19):
We think so.

let's hear from my next caller.
Speaker 8 (35:11):
Would you, Dear Doctor?
Speaker 4 (35:13):
My friend supported me during a tough time.
Speaker 11 (35:16):
But what's the right gift that's says thanks for being
the soldier.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
To cry out?

Okay, this one's easy, I say, give her a delicious

just a reminder that I don't need to be a

Speaker 2 (36:29):
Well, I'm not getting a hundred dollars. Hold hold, hold on, No,
what's cool.
Speaker 4 (36:33):
It's Appstate.
Speaker 5 (36:34):
Oh I knew it.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
It was Apstate, didn't know?
Speaker 3 (36:37):
Yeah, his name is Kayden Robinson. Good player, good player
Robinson to Patrick, Sorry, dude, all right, but you're gonna go.
You're gonna go from Caiden Robinson to let's just say,
over the next couple of weeks, let's just rattle off
the receivers that he's going to play over these next
(36:57):
few weeks.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
You've got Garrett Wilson as a possibility.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
This week, I know he's probably not going to go
up against the top target, but just for funzies, next
week is Tedoroa McMillan. Week after that is Terry McLaurin
or Deebo Samuel. The week after that is Cortland Sutton
and the bevy of weapons that the Denver Broncos have.
Arizona is trying to figure things out with Marvin Harrison
Junior and they've got Trey McBride who's playing well.
Speaker 4 (37:19):
But the point is is it's not the same Malo.
Speaker 5 (37:21):
Harrison Junior is going to get right at some point,
and probably against Dalla Stephens.
Speaker 6 (37:25):
I looking at week nine, I thought I got right
at the end of the last game. Yeah, you had
a touchdown, grab, Yeah you saw metal.
Speaker 8 (37:31):
The end zone, just kind of like, thank you guys.
Speaker 6 (37:33):
I felt like it almost felt like when Jake Ferguson
scored that touchdown, because it felt like there was just
so much weight lifted off of their backs. Yeah, Ferguson
not scoring since twenty three and Marv with that big drop,
so good for him.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
Yeah, it's fun to see guys get back on track.
Hopefully the Cowboys get back on track as a whole.
Speaker 4 (37:51):
That would be nice.
Speaker 3 (37:52):
Yeah, all right, NFC East. I want to start with
the Eagles. Are the ones leading the division. Of course,
they're still doing what we anticipated, but are they doing
it the same way we anticipated it getting there?
Speaker 2 (38:05):
Four?
Speaker 3 (38:05):
And oh, is this team better or worse than they
were a year ago based on what you've seen so
far from Philly?
Speaker 5 (38:12):
Better or worse from a year ago?
Speaker 9 (38:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (38:14):
For this point last year, I.
Speaker 5 (38:16):
Would say worse. But I mean they're still going to
win for four and oh yeah, they're gonna win football.
Get And I also don't think that I think they're
changing how offense is going to be this point forward? Yeah,
how often is going to be played this point forward.
We're talking about how justin fields is going to probably
tear us apart, and I mean just yeah, in all likelihood, right,
(38:39):
but that is just the new style of offense. You're
going to have more and more and more dual threat
quarterbacks that don't have to throw the deep ball unless
they absolutely need to. They can just pick up first downs.
And that's what the Eagles are great at. That's their
biggest strength is being able to pick up a first
down anytime they needed.
Speaker 9 (38:57):
Is it?
Speaker 7 (38:58):
I mean compared to what they want last year, they
are worse. Does that mean they're bad, No, you're not bad,
as they were dominantly. Yeah, they were dominant last year,
mostly because of Saquon Barkley. But when you look at
Saquon Barkley this year, of course, he's still an All
World running back. He's still the best running back in
the league, but he's not absolutely decimating defenses to my point,
(39:21):
because now the run game can't get going, and because
the run game can't get going, the passing attack can't
get going. For Jalen Hurts, I mean, what do they have.
He had zero completions in the second half of that
victory over Tampa Bay. I mean, so credit to them
objectively speaking, credit to them for finding ways to win.
But if you're asking me, if a team that can't
(39:41):
complete a pass in then entire half of a game
and whose number one wide receiver is you know, dropping
posts on Instagram and Twitter that you know, cryptically basically
saying I want the ball or let me out of here. Yeah,
that's that's problematic on that aspect, but it does tell
you that things are not They're just not what they were,
(40:02):
but they're still obviously good enough to find ways to
win games. And the Cowboys right now, you know they're
one two one because they haven't consistently found ways to
win games. If if you know, Ceedee Lamb doesn't drop
the ball against the Eagles, then there's a win right there.
If the defense doesn't miss tackles and self inflicted penalty penalties,
then maybe.
Speaker 2 (40:21):
Maybe you're four and oh, maybe your four and oh.
Speaker 7 (40:23):
If you could find ways to consistently win no matter
what like the Eagles are, then you'd be four and
no two.
Speaker 5 (40:29):
I don't know how as Aj Brown, how are you
not satisfied?
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Man?
Speaker 5 (40:33):
Like it's frustrating to me. And granted I don't care
about Philly at all in those terms, but I know
what they say about receivers. But you are, you are paid.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
You got the bag, yep, you got a ring.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
You got a ring.
Speaker 5 (40:45):
You won the Super Bowl last year and you're undefeated
this year.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
And you're a month end of the year.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
Dude, I can I can answer that question.
Speaker 5 (40:54):
Smell the roses a little bit, man, there's a selfix.
Stress is always greener. You were literally on the White House, you.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
Know what I mean?
Speaker 8 (41:00):
Like I played a Tennessee for the first However, many
years of his career.
Speaker 2 (41:05):
Yeah, like, dude, there's a selfish answer to that question.
What is it money? You said?
Speaker 7 (41:11):
Okay, yeah, he got paid, he got his guaranteed money,
but they're also escalators and incentives in those contracts, and
if he's not getting the targets and not getting the hey,
I'm just answering the question right or wrong. My thing
is if the team is winning, be quiet. Okay, that's
my thing. But if the question is being posed and
you're saying, hey, no, see why on the earth would
(41:31):
a J. Brown be mad or complaining of dropping crypto tweets.
It's because his contract has escalators and likely to be
earned incentives, and if he doesn't get the ball, he's
not earning that money.
Speaker 3 (41:42):
So, Tommy, can you answer a question for me? I'll
try who are the Washington commanders this year?
Speaker 2 (41:49):
He'll give you one hundred dollars correctly.
Speaker 8 (41:54):
All of a sudden, I'm ready to go yeah to
and two.
Speaker 3 (41:58):
They don't look the same, but they also don't look bad.
It's kind of a weird feeling. This is kind of
what I anticipated Washington being all of last year in
year one with Dan Quinn, and now it's like, oh,
we skipped the year we were a NFC title contender,
and then now it's back to what we thought they
(42:19):
would be.
Speaker 5 (42:19):
I know, we got to go and I want you
to answer, but like, does it do they almost look
a little better with Marcus Mariota or.
Speaker 4 (42:24):
Am I abe a little bit? Which is kind of weird?
Speaker 6 (42:27):
Yeah, I would say you're tripping. Yeah, fair enough, I'd
take Jayde and Daniels.
Speaker 4 (42:33):
I mean, of course, of.
Speaker 5 (42:34):
Course you would, but I'm saying, like, don't they look
like they're running a little smoother.
Speaker 7 (42:38):
I think there's just the whole song possibility of a
sophomore because look at c J. Stroud, he's Jayde and Daniels.
You know, there's once the league figures you out and
you have these exceptional rookie years.
Speaker 2 (42:51):
I mean, injury notwithstanding. We saw it with RG three
back in the day.
Speaker 7 (42:55):
But yeah, it's it's tough to replicate the success of
a breakout season if if you're a rookie quarterback.
Speaker 2 (43:01):
And I think that's what you're saying, Does that mean
Jane is bad?
Speaker 3 (43:03):
No.
Speaker 2 (43:04):
At the moment, Marcus just has things flowing. But you
know c J. Stroud is struggling too.
Speaker 6 (43:09):
I think the Commanders and the Eagles are kind of
in a similar boat in terms of they are still
trying to find their identity. And I think when you
have a hurt quarterback and I don't know how long
he's going to be out, you know, hopefully he's able
to get back soon. But when you have that, it
makes it so much more difficult. And where Philadelphia has
the difference, not only do they have a healthy quarterback,
(43:29):
but their defense is so good, so good that really,
and you can look at the first couple of games
they've played, they don't need to do a lot on offense.
They really don't. Jalen Hurts is playing very well, but
he does not need to throw the ball a lot.
When he has thrown the ball this year, he's thrown
it very well. I've always thought he's been a good
passor a better passer than people give him credit for. Yeah,
when he can run the ball as well as he
(43:50):
can run the ball, And when you've got say Quon
Barkle in the backfield, Cheery's averaging three yards of carry,
it doesn't matter. They don't need a lot to work
with because their defense is playing so well that they
don't They don't need anything different. So you know, they
had a new offensive coordinator and you're still seeing that
they're trying to fit things in there. But Washington is
in the same boat, except for the fact that they
don't have as good of a defense. They have a
(44:11):
very good defense. I love Mike Sange still. I think
he's going to be a star in this league for
a long time. Wagner is playing like he's twenty four
and he always has, which is ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (44:23):
As the time machine.
Speaker 6 (44:23):
Yeah, and you know they have a very solid, well
round in squad. But when you don't have your quarterback,
and like Patrick said, when when you have a full
year of tape for the league to watch and see,
it's going to be a lot more difficult for you, especially.
Speaker 8 (44:37):
When your dual threat.
Speaker 6 (44:39):
And since the NFL is so ingrained in dual threat
quarterbacks now, defenses know how to better contain them. But
Jayden Daniels is still a dynamic player and he's going
to be He's going to be very, very good for
a long time in this league. But I think sophomore slumps,
you think about it is like you take a step back, right.
I don't see it as much of a step back
as It is a learning experience of Okay, how are
(45:01):
defense is going to attack me now that they've seen me?
And the great quarterbacks in this league are the ones that,
even either during or after that slump, are able to
counter the counter to themselves and be able to take
that next step in their progression.
Speaker 8 (45:14):
I think Jaden Daniels can do that.
Speaker 3 (45:16):
Yeah, and of course we didn't get to hit on
the Giants here, but the Giants win last week against
Chargers twenty one eighteen.
Speaker 4 (45:22):
Jackson Dart was serviceable, had a rushing.
Speaker 3 (45:25):
Touchdown in there too, one of the game. One them
the game got it done. So replacing them in the it's.
Speaker 6 (45:30):
Gonna be an interesting Yeah, it's gonna be an interesting
experiment to watch. I still I was still not a
fan of Dart coming out. You know, I'll own up
to it if he proves me wrong. But there's a
lot of proving to do, and obviously hope Elik Neighbors
recovers quickly.
Speaker 3 (45:44):
