Speaker 2 (01:55):
But I know not at all. Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
I don't get a check from them, but I will
say they're like actual ground coffee or that you make
it in the machine is better than anything else out there.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
Murdered out flavor man, is that your favorite? That's my favorite?
Speaker 7 (02:13):
Murder I just like a coffee so dark that you
like it just kind of kills you for a little bit.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
You know, your heart is.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Just you know what I mean, Like it's just uncontroll
dark black. I hate the bag, just the darkest possible.
It is February darkst possible coffee for blackness.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
I respected the black or the coffee like a February
creep it next, Oh I love it.
Speaker 6 (02:45):
It's February no creffee.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
No cream, Oh all coffee now, Isaiah, you said, uh,
you said you had some news. Oh yeah, what what's
the news?
Speaker 8 (02:57):
Bro?
Speaker 5 (02:57):
So I have to start freaquent team the batting cages.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Hey, because why is baseball league? Hey? Hey, you're doing it?
What baseball like? You're broadcasting. That's really cool, dude, that's
your that's.
Speaker 5 (03:10):
Your I am joining a baseball wood bats baby.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
That I don't even know, don't I don't know. They
asked me to play.
Speaker 6 (03:20):
I said, yes, okay, I've been training my body really
an athlete.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Again. To get back to that point, bro, what position
are you going to play? Is there any other outfield?
Speaker 6 (03:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Centerfield. Don't take any stick from John over here. That's
why I brought it up.
Speaker 6 (03:36):
So listen, I know you like I know my other
gentleman over here to my right.
Speaker 5 (03:41):
He likes baseball. Right, So I'm going to the cages.
Y'all want to go to the cages? Man, let me
know I got my wooden bats.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (03:47):
My guy from SR Bass dropped me off. Scott Rogers.
That's my guy, Scotty.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
He sponsors a lot of this engraving.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Oh yeah, beautiful, beautiful guy. I love that you got
a guy. But also, if you're in the market for wood.
Check out war StickK Okay w They've got a good
illuminam local downtown owned by a formal Rangers player, and
I got a couple of of nice bamboos from So.
Speaker 7 (04:13):
If you need a corking guy, I got you.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Trying to put a tennis ball in a in an
aluminum aluminum bats it's incredibly hard. Yeah it's not loaded.
Speaker 6 (04:25):
Oh yeah, he's loaded.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
It wasn't that hard.
Speaker 6 (04:28):
Shah yeah.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
Bro, So I'm pretty excited about that. But trying to
get my body back in shape.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
Can you let us know when the games.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Are I definitely will trying to get my body back
in performance shape.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Oh my gosh, bro talking Cowboys Nation is going to
show out to watch Isaiah freaking tear al running down
At first.
Speaker 6 (04:45):
Probably probably I'm trying to war more worried about these.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
Hit He's gonna hit an fly ball in the left
center and he's gonna watch it. He's gonna think it's gone,
but then he's gonna realize it's not gone, and that's
when he takes off, Like the panic sets in.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
He's trying to get to and that's when he gets
a little high to run on the wall road.
Speaker 5 (05:03):
I'm sitting on top of the wall waiting for the bonto. Yeah,
whatever day it had.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
Let's get into some news and notes around this one
football team, not the baseball team that we're talking about.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
So you want me on that wall, you need me
on that wall, all right? So uh, not necessarily quite
a few things, but a few things. Since the last episode,
we had some vacancies that we were waiting to be
finalized and the coaching staff those were finalized. I'm not
going to go down the entirety of the list. Check
out the dot com. I posted the finalized list of
the Cowboys coaching staff. Checked that out alongside Tommy Yarra
(05:42):
shouts out to him. He contributed to it as well,
broke down where these guys are coming from, what the
expectations are for these guys going forward. But looking down
the list, let's see who we hadn't confirmed just yet.
Ken Dorsey has been confirmed past game specialist. He was
just agreed to terms last we spoke, but he's on
the books. Raymondchen Young, he's returning as an offensive assistant
(06:02):
line coach.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
He was at the press conference.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
He was at the press conference. Absolutely, I'm sure that
did him plenty of favors to show some love to
the new head coach, like hey, I'm here, Yeah, where's medial?
Speaker 6 (06:14):
And then we have some on the offensive side. We
have a couple of.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
New spots, I'd say, so deal forgive me if I'm
miss pronouncing d E l E. Haven't had the chance
to meet this gentleman quite yet, but deal harding he
joins for QB fellowship, and I am getting questions. I
have the same question as your face is making right now.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
Yeah, Isaiah, you asked me this as well.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Yeah, we're working to figure out exactly what QB fellowship is.
That's not the same as QB's coach or assistant QB's
It's hard to.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
Have fellowship when there's only one in the building, right.
Speaker 3 (06:44):
Well, will Ger is still in the building, so you
got true, Okay, you you got to Yeah, sorry, buddy Wave.
The two all right game management coordinator offensively is Ryan Feeder,
so he's in the building switching to the defensive side.
Speaker 6 (06:57):
Of the ball. Who was not under Thompson is back.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
So Darren Thompson, who did some work over the last
couple of seasons. For every seasons he remains with the Cowboys.
He's going to handle secondary and Nickel Nickel corners. Oh okay,
so DT is moving on up. Yeah, I'll say he
was primarily special to Yeah.
Speaker 6 (07:14):
Wasn't he primary for him? Man?
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Yeah, so he's moving up. Defensive assistant and quality control
is going to be JJ Clark, and also in that
role is going to be Tanzel Smart. Special teams we
already had Carlos Polk confirmed as an assistant special teams
coordinator for Nick Sorenson, and strength and conditioning is pretty
much the same cast herold Nash, Kendall Smith, Cedric Smith.
There were a couple of other names that popped up,
(07:37):
but then they disappeared from the final roster, so I'll
get clarity on those before I mentioned those names.
Speaker 7 (07:41):
Now, Tenzel Smart former New York Jet. Yes, so he
was just playing last year, was he not?
Speaker 6 (07:46):
He was?
Speaker 2 (07:47):
He's interesting.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
He's opening up his coaching career here in Dallas and heavy.
He's not the first on this staff to do so.
There are several who have come who started rather than
like an assistant or that kind of roll intern rolling
out there back.
Speaker 7 (08:02):
I just think it speaks volumes for Tenzel coming over
with Aaron White Cotton in that like he was just
playing for him.
Speaker 3 (08:09):
Interesting said, I want that guy. If you're done playing,
come start coaching. So I like that, and then I
was able to speak with Michael Parsons this past weekend.
He was doing some fantastic work in the community. He
was at the Great Wolf Lounge out in Grapevine and
Lodge sorry, and he was making.
Speaker 2 (08:29):
A lounge to I'm sure.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
On the other side of the road there is a lounge,
but Michael was out there. He was making the day
of several make Makeup Wish kids and it was just
it was fantastic.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
It looked like a fun event.
Speaker 6 (08:44):
It was so fun.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
So Great Wolf Lodge they're opening up, you know, new
sections of gaming like bowling, laser tag, some football, a
little bit of golf, and Michael was just making the
rounds with those with those kids and it was just
a fun day of watching him interact with those kids.
And I will tell you, even though it was the
Makeup Wish kids, Micah, let him have it that that
(09:08):
that guy he's competitive.
Speaker 6 (09:09):
In every everything.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Literally.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
Yeah, a couple of times I was like Michael, I
talked to him, No, I did.
Speaker 6 (09:18):
I did an s w.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
BC mortgage event with him previously, like one of our
other sponsors in the building.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
He was competitive about like paying a.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Mortgage, everything, Like literally anything he does has a competitive
nature to it.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
It's really impressively. After the lasers, they did two rounds
of him. To that point, they did two rounds of
laser tag. After the first round of laser tag, Micah
didn't necessarily like the school. He said the school was inaccurate,
so he's like running back, run it back, run it back.
Speaker 2 (09:46):
They run it back and dived.
Speaker 3 (09:49):
And he still didn't win, but he was playfully upset
because they the kids were jumping up on him right,
So like he's sitting there trying to take the kids
off pupuer period and there's like four kids just walking
behind the Bang Bank bank just.
Speaker 6 (10:00):
Get racking up their points.
Speaker 3 (10:02):
So he's just like I was like, yeah, okay, Michae's
that's a competitive dude.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
You got a target on your back.
Speaker 3 (10:08):
Literally he got him back in football though, oh did
he Yes, if football is targeted, he.
Speaker 6 (10:16):
Got him back in football.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
So but after the fun, after that phone was had
and the kids had just a fantastic day. Shouts out
to great with Great Wolflage for hosting that. Shouts out
to make a Wish Foundation, shouts out to Michael for
participating in that. I had a sidebar with him and
I asked several questions. I will leave the best for
last segue, but I did ask him about uh a
(10:40):
comment he made at the back end of last season,
because he's already stated that no matter, you know, even
if his contract is not done before training camp, he
has no plans on holding out. But he also mentioned
that he was going he was looking to attend voluntary
ot as the voluntary program because UH.
Speaker 6 (10:55):
I think he understood.
Speaker 3 (10:56):
He caught a lot of flak for not doing so
from people like Kaiah Standback who wanted him in the
building with Mike Zimmer coming in, et cetera. He took
that feedback and he plans to be in the building.
So I asked him, I said, hey, with your plans
for being available for voluntary OTA's like, what's the significance
of that as far as hitting the ground running with
the coach the new coaching staff, this is going to
be your third off defensive coordinator. So he was like,
(11:18):
and there it is right there. That's the biggest challenge
I have to hit the ground running. And that also
goes to mentoring a lot of the guys that are
coming in. So obviously Mazi you talk about that, but
some of these younger guys, some of the whatever veterans
be added helping them acclimate to the culture. So'd love
to hear that. It's another stepping stone forward in the
maturity of Michael Parsons that we've seen developed over the
(11:42):
past couple of seasons, definitely in twenty twenty four, so
he's taken that.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
First sure step since his injury, basically.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Since his injury. Yeah, so now we're we're moving to
the part that set social media on fire?
Speaker 6 (11:54):
What was that?
Speaker 3 (11:55):
The part that I really really enjoy. Michael Parsons wants
the Cowboys to be very great rest of the Yes,
very very aggressive and free agency.
Speaker 6 (12:03):
And I'm going to pull up this quote.
Speaker 3 (12:04):
And while I'm pulling up the quote, so I asked
him about you know, because going back to the inaugural
press conference of Brian Schottenheim or Stephen Jones did intimate
that they understood that there were lessons to be learned
from teams like the Eagles, the forty nine ers and
the Rams fast forward asked.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
We talked about that a little bit last week and
kind of the mindset, the thought process, So.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
Asked Micah, and I said here first, here on talking cowboys,
always here on talking cowboys. So I asked Mike, I said, hey,
you know, I know there doesn't there are a few
humans walking the planet that are more competitive than you.
Not that you need any more motivation, but what it's
seeing the Eagles when the Super Bowl do for you emotionally,
and how does that tie into what you would like
to see the approach be for this offseason. I'll quote, yeah,
(12:47):
that hurts me.
Speaker 6 (12:47):
Man.
Speaker 3 (12:48):
This is a Cowboys team that over the past couple
of years we kind of got our wins and losses
against the Eagles battle with them. Obviously, the talent is here.
We've just got to finish. We got to go be
aggressive the same way they did. I don't I don't
want to sit back and just watch other people build
and build and build and we stay the same. So
definitely we need some kind of call to action. End
quote John and Phillis.
Speaker 6 (13:10):
I like it.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
I like it.
Speaker 6 (13:12):
I like it a lot.
Speaker 7 (13:13):
I don't think it's a surprise that it's really not
a surprise, and it's the same feeling that everybody else
has looking at this team going forward into the future. However,
we know what comes along with saying like, yep, we
understand exactly what needs to be done, but it's do
we have that room to make it happen well?
Speaker 2 (13:33):
And that brings my question, is their room to make room? Right?
Speaker 4 (13:38):
That's that's the thought process here with the Cowboys, because
I know I've gotten in some Twitter conversations. Let's put
it that way with with some fans that think that
there is a way to just magically clear one hundred
million dollars plus of of cap along the way, there's
room to clear cap. There's no doubt about that. One
(14:00):
hundred million will completely hamstring you.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
For the rest of your.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
Rest of your current cores thought process. So it will
hamstring you to a certain extent. But there's ways that
you can make more room here, right there is because
number one one of them is signing Micah. Sign Signing
Micah will free up in.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
A timely broad Yeah, now.
Speaker 6 (14:20):
Would free up roughly eighteen million dollars.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
Right right now. You had that conversation.
Speaker 6 (14:25):
I did have that conversation.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
But is his agent open to that that's the thing.
Speaker 6 (14:29):
I think that's a good point.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
But I think based on the conversations that we've had
with Micah over the past several months, in addition to
the sidebar I had with him at Great Wolf Lodge,
I think that Micah's going to apply a little bit
of pressure to his agent to try to be opening
towards getting this deal done sooner than later. Because he's
already stated he's not looking to be the forty million
(14:51):
dollars a year got right. He wants to he's open
to taking a little bit less. So I think that's
not only applying pressure to the Cowboys to say, hey,
you can't use me as the market setter as a
reason to not get this deal done quickly, but it
also goes to his agent saying, you, you can't use
me as the market set for the reason and not
get this deal done quickly.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
Another thing with that, though, if they're so, if he's so.
Speaker 7 (15:13):
Inclined to get it done early, a thing that he's
brought up more than once is that I want to
be I want to make this happen so that we
can build and bring other guys in here. Right beca
you have the opportunity to do that with Micah, but
now it's on the Cowboys. And do you want to
create any ill will with Michael Parsons if you don't
end up getting those guys out there?
Speaker 2 (15:32):
Number of things going on here. Number one, I think that.
Speaker 5 (15:36):
You learn more from other people's lessons then you learn
from yourself at times. See the Dallas Cowboys have learned
a lesson and watching their their conference go out and
do things that they probably should have done sooner. You've
seen the Eagles, You've seen the Rams, you've seen the
(15:57):
forty nine ers, You've seen other teams.
Speaker 4 (15:59):
I would use those three teams as this not like
Washington where they had a billion dollars a new coach.
Speaker 5 (16:05):
I'm talking about most recently, right about those three organizations.
That's the bar that those three organizations have shown you
over the last.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
Decade, their players, and they've still found the way to
win in.
Speaker 6 (16:15):
The last decade.
Speaker 5 (16:16):
Those are the three organizations that have shown you this
is the blueprint of nowadays, not of the nineties and
the early two thousands. In the twenty twenty era, this
is how you get it done right. And there's there's
more than one way to skin a cat and obviously
this more aggressive way is working for teams rather than
building through the draft. Okay, so the Cowboys have had
(16:37):
the benefit of learning from other organizations. In regards to
Micah Parsons, in regards to what he just said, He's
not going to just sit back, right, it was almost
like a shots fire, Like hey, like doggone flame in
the air. I have seen my comrade and Miles Garrett
stick with his organization and show his loyalty and play
(17:01):
through two contracts, right, play through two contracts just to
get to the point where he's like, you guys still
aren't doing enough.
Speaker 6 (17:07):
I want out.
Speaker 5 (17:09):
You learn from other people, and you now are in
a position Michael Parsons's that is to say, I don't
want that to be me. Thanks, right, So I'm gonna
learn from him so I don't have to do it
myself and learn the hard way. I'm gonna learn through
his example of I'm not gonna go through two contracts
just to get to the point where I feel like
I need to leave where I'm currently.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
At the twilight of my career.
Speaker 6 (17:30):
Now, you guys need to make this happen. Now.
Speaker 5 (17:34):
On the second part of that, you're talking about Michael
Parsons's has mentioned that he's willing to take less. Correct
you know what I'm saying, in order to attract other And.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Let's not say it's a hometown discount.
Speaker 6 (17:45):
No no, it's not home to.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
That number is still gonna be astronauts.
Speaker 6 (17:47):
It's still gonna be up there.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
He's not gonna be a big man.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
He's not looking however, so herror, if I'm Michael Parsons,
I'm not. If I am in Michael Parkins's smart Michael
Parsons situation, I am taking less if you guarantee me
that you can go get this guy example A.
Speaker 6 (18:03):
And that's that's where it. It's not a.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
I'm freeing up space so that you can go figure
out who you think is best.
Speaker 6 (18:08):
No no, no, no no.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
But if I take less, you're guaranteeing me that you're
bringing this individual on the rock.
Speaker 4 (18:15):
You're gonna go get pro bowler here or pro bowler this.
I'm not playing next.
Speaker 5 (18:18):
No, no, no, I'm gonna give you two. I'm giving you again.
This is this is If I'm Michael Parsons, I will
take less if you guarantee me that you secure one
of these two individuals on this roster for however many
years show don't play with me, right, you know what
I'm saying, like, don't play with me. I don't need
to see that you have a plan. I need to
see that you have an offer, and I need to
(18:40):
see it for these two individuals.
Speaker 6 (18:41):
I don't care which one it is.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
I'm willing to take money out of my own pocket
if you can guarantee me that you can get one
of these two guys. Otherwise, don't mess with my money.
Give me everything that I'm worth.
Speaker 7 (18:52):
But, like we've talked about, you need to get Micah
done first before you do that. What happens though? If
you say Okay, we'll make it happen, you do it.
You give them a money than what he's worth, arguably,
and then you don't end up getting Oh yeah, what happens.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
To that scorch or you better have a secondary plan.
Speaker 4 (19:10):
Yeah, that would That would appease the thought process there
and make it happen.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
We just talked about how much of a competitor he is.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
We just talked about how much Michael Parsons competes playing
foodootball with literally everything. He may be the one running
down the hallway to be the first in the line at.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
The cafeteria here at the star.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
If if you're not careful, like he is, that kind
of competitor, you gotta ease the competitor nature of it
all in order to make him happy, whether or not
that's money related or not.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
So it's it does.
Speaker 4 (19:41):
You got to you gotta execute. You gotta execute him
free agency. You gotta find a way to still build
through the draft. But there's got to be a mesh
of the two, which again goes back to our conversation
last week around Steven Jones. He's saying the right things,
but until those actions hit the table. I think a
lot of cowboys fans, a lot of cowboys personnel, a
lot of cowboys pla for that matter, because.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
They've talked about it too.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
Go get talent, Go get these guys if you have
the opportunity, that would give you the opportunity.
Speaker 5 (20:07):
And to put it in perspective that most people can understand,
I don't care. I know what people are gonna Oh,
he makes an astronomical he's going to make a crazy
amount of money, but you will what she will right regardless, however,
is not basketball money. It's not baseball money. Okay, And
I don't care how much money you make. You taking
money out of my pocket, it's going to be a problem, right.
And so if I'm going to sacrifice money out of
my pocket, I need to know that the value that
(20:30):
I'm giving up is the plan I am gaining it
in another area. And I need to know I'm not
leaving it in your hands to figure out.
Speaker 6 (20:38):
I'm telling you.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
What's the plan?
Speaker 6 (20:39):
What This is the plan? Not even what's the plan,
this is the plan.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
I am willing to take five million dollars less on
what I should be getting annually to make sure that
I get these one of these two individuals. And understand,
if I take a five million dollar cut per year,
we're talking about twenty plus million dollars over the length
of the contract.
Speaker 6 (20:57):
If I take twenty million dollars out of my pocket.
Speaker 5 (20:59):
Will I better make sure I'm giving me a high
probability that I have.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
A chance to go get a ring. I think he's
going to be more like three or four, Okay, sixteen.
Speaker 6 (21:08):
Grand you know what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
I love that, and that's what I want Michael to do.
Apply that type of pressure. I could also see his
comments because he made additional comments to this point and
a quote everyone doesn't need Everyone does not need a
max deal. There are great players that can do one
year or two year deals. Obviously we've seen that this
year with other teams. There's been that trend end quote.
(21:32):
So if you're talking about Michael Parsons, let's say his
deal gets done before free agency, which would be ideal
because then you get that eighteen million dollars immediately dropped
in savings for you to go into free agency and
start spending effective immediately. Also related sidebar Dak Prescott, his
trigger can be pulled restructure. That's thirty seven million dollars
you can drop in saving into your wallet.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
See it's likely to be less than thirty seven because
that would be a max ring. So approximately, yeah, that
would be something so on.
Speaker 3 (22:01):
A max restructure, on a max restructure, approximately thirty seven million.
On max restructure for CEEDE Lamb approximately twenty million, give
or take.
Speaker 6 (22:10):
So if you do those to those two.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
Triggers and get Micah done, you're floating around seventy to
seventy five million dollars in available cap space.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
And remember you need about twenty million.
Speaker 6 (22:19):
For operating for just your basic put.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
Some numbers and then you need about thirteen million for
your draft, and maybe more of it because you have
some have to give.
Speaker 2 (22:27):
Higher a price, but you're probably more like changing the
whole conversation. It does.
Speaker 3 (22:32):
And also keep in mind so the reason I brought
up Michaeh's secondary quote, as far as far as one
of two year deals, if you get him signed right now,
you get eighteen million dollars in savings and you don't
have to worry about the first actual hit from his
contract until twenty twenty six. But if a guy signs
on a one year deal or even a two year deal,
it's almost a watch depending on what the size of
that contract is. Michaeh is giving you a ton of flexibility,
(22:53):
and he's publicizing the willingness to give you that flexibility.
Speaker 6 (22:57):
I love it. Take advantage of it, Yeah, take advantage man.
I see it for me, and you take it.
Speaker 2 (23:04):
I hope it all works out. I really do. But again,
we got to see it. The actions have to.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
Speak louder than the words, because you've got a clear
cap room just period. Right now, you're sitting at what
nine million or twelve million or something like that.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
Four days ago enoughs minus something.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
Yeah, you gotta pay me. It's part of it. You know,
it's part of the whole thing.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
No, you're taking five million list, Yeah, we'll see. So
got three more mouths built this year?
Speaker 6 (23:29):
Your team could be built.
Speaker 2 (23:31):
I got a great team already. All right.

What are you doing?
Speaker 12 (27:03):
Thank you?
Speaker 5 (27:04):
All yeah, what are you going?
Speaker 2 (27:11):
I married into the family.
Speaker 4 (27:12):
That was my choice, all right, And the thought process
around twelve pick number twelve in the NFL draft. Of course,
the last time you picked no he was eight last year.
The last time you picked a twelve you picked up
a guy named Micah Parsons back in twenty twenty one.
Of course, you started at ten, traded back to twelve,
and that's where you ended up. So if you were
(27:33):
to guess right now, the NFL Combine is next week.
We'll talk more about maybe some of the guys that
are going to stand out at the combine next week.
But this is the first time I've brought up draft
on this show. Specifically, what position group do you think
most fits at the twelfth overall pick.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
For this franchise, for this team, I would grab a receiver. Okay,
that's just that's me.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
I would grab a receiver because I think that as
the conversation we last.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Week, oh yeah, we did talk about that.
Speaker 5 (28:01):
A little need somebody who can come in and contribute
at a high level, uh to a company what Ceedee
Lamb is going to put out there. And I don't
believe that you want to spin your cap that you're
going to create this cap space on a receiver. Okay,
So I think that if you're going to chase a receiver,
go use the draft to go get a guy that
can develop and or not develop, be that be a
(28:24):
contributor for We're especially twelve day one, you better be starting. Yeah,
you'd be starting on day one opposite of CD. Because
I don't think that the market's just gone crazy at
the receiver market. You can't go get that in free
agency and think that you're going to have the space
to do all the other things that you want to do.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
And we we we talked about that last week in
the thought process of needs this offseason.
Speaker 2 (28:45):
You can do draft and that was very.
Speaker 4 (28:48):
We're talking specifically about talking about at pick number twelve
and wide receiver fits that mold.
Speaker 2 (28:53):
Running back would definitely fit.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
We're going to run the ball with one guy that
would fit the mole to twelve.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
One guy is name for me, just happens to be.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
Action Genty, Ashton genty of Boise State fame. Ashton genty
of the same Boise State that was attended by the
current offensive coordinator Clayton Adams.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
And the current head coach and the.
Speaker 6 (29:13):
New Orleans will Yeah, fair enough, that's fair.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
They got a running back?
Speaker 6 (29:17):
Yeah, they do gotta running back?
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Hey against US at US Yeah? That tick two.
Speaker 4 (29:24):
That team was great against the Cowboys. How did they
do the rest of the year.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
You take care of the Kamara stopping you. I'm taking
Ashton g I would.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Take anybody at this point, because who's gonna run the ball?
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Listen, if gent is goingly I thought I was going
to run the ball.
Speaker 6 (29:42):
Who's going to run the ball?
Speaker 3 (29:44):
If Gent is going at twelve, I'm with you on
wide receiver, but only if gent is going to respect.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
That at pick twelve. Yeah, I'm gonna cheat a little bit,
do it?
Speaker 6 (29:53):
Sorry, Chooter.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
I want more picks, Pumpkin, Oh you're trading back. I
want more picks. Oh, and I'm not talking a big trade.
I'm not talking huge. You're saying, drop down, drop down
to you know, twenty twenty fifth and pick up a No, no,
nothing like that. Like that's a drop Like Kyle just.
Speaker 7 (30:15):
Brought up when you traded in that season for Micah,
traded three picks something to that effect.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
You picked up a third. I need to pick up
that fourth. I need that. You want to back, Yeah,
I want my picks back. Gave me a Kevin Costner
on draft day. You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (30:31):
I think you're going to flip your fives to get
you four.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
You could do that. You're going to have probably three.
Speaker 6 (30:36):
Fives to flip your fives.
Speaker 7 (30:38):
I moved back just a couple of spots, maybe at
the most three to five.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
I like the thought process there.
Speaker 4 (30:43):
I'm going to tell you how how how far back
you would have to go? Tell me, uh, in order
to get a four, you would need to go back.
You could go from twelve to fifteen.
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Perfect. Yeah, that's what I want. That's not that far back.
Speaker 6 (30:59):
Give me what I want.
Speaker 2 (31:00):
Twelve to fifteen one my four back. Man, you're still
picking a quality player at fifteen.
Speaker 4 (31:04):
And honestly, like I would want an overpay. I would
want somebody to come in and give me more than.
Speaker 6 (31:09):
Just the four.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Like give me a three. Who has thirteen or fourteen?
Give me two seconds? So give me that in a
solid number two wideceiver.
Speaker 6 (31:16):
My thing.
Speaker 4 (31:17):
Thirteen is Miami, fourteen is Indianapolis, Indianapolis.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
No, but neither one of those teams need a running back, right, No, no, no, no,
They're not coming up to get genty. I know. I'm
just saying that. Yeah, So the probability you'd still have
a running back to pick.
Speaker 6 (31:30):
Better than way, yeah, than one of the other teams.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
The next team that could use a running back is
probably Arizona in sixteen, because Atlanta's at fifteen and they've
got Bjon. So you've got Miami, Indianapolis, Atlanta in thirteen, fourteen, fifteen.
Arizona's sitting there at sixteen off Genty's at sixteen. I
think Arizona's taking that pick.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Yeah, that's why we go fifteen maybe.
Speaker 3 (31:51):
Yeah, So fifteen is the sweet spot for you little
bit past fifteen.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
No, if gent's there, I think I'm sticking and picking.
Yeah at twelve, it picking. Yeah, there's a couple guys
we've talked about this. Gent.
Speaker 4 (32:01):
Yeah, we've talked about this a couple of times. If
Gent's gone, I think I'm open to the conversation. There
might be one or two guys outside of Gent. I
really like Ted Roha McMillan out of Arizona wide receiver.
I think he's Mike Evans. I would go take that
guy because I think he's the perfect compliment for Ceedee Lamb.
If he's there at twelve, I'm sticking a picking a
couple offensive linemen that are up there at the draft.
(32:23):
I don't think they'll get there because it's very thin
top level in terms of offensive lineman early in this draft.
I think if there's a couple names there, maybe the
only other names that would be worth it would be uh.
Speaker 2 (32:37):
Gosh, that's tough.
Speaker 4 (32:38):
Maybe an edge rusher something like that, and that would
just be to be opposite of Micah.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
Like I think I would rather trade back in.
Speaker 7 (32:45):
That scenario in that spot, right, No, I'm not a
I'm not miss right.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
Yeah, I think he's a late first round If you
want to trade back and pick up a haul and
go to like twenty, then I could talk about Walter Nolan.
I feel like, but that would take multiple picks.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
I feel like, if genty is there, McMillan isn't. If
McMillan is there, genty isn't, don't. I don't know that I.
Speaker 6 (33:05):
See good point both being gone, being gone before twelve.
Speaker 2 (33:08):
And I've mentioned this before about before fifteen though.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
So if I wouldn't risk genty, I'm almost there with Klum,
like ninety nine percent.
Speaker 6 (33:17):
There were cal on McMillan.
Speaker 3 (33:18):
I don't know that I risk McMillan in a jump
back from twelve to fifteen, but then there's a couple.
But then I also looking at my board. You got
Eggbuka from Ohio State. Matthew Golden is going to be
on the board, So I think I would be more
I know, I like the trade and I've got a fast,
but we're talking about a trade back, yeah, not talking
about take and I could in a trade back, I
(33:38):
think Golden will be there. So I think that I
would be more comfortable if genty is gone. And now
I'm looking at the receiver portion of the conversation. Okay,
I could probably be more comfortable going twelve to fifteen
and still getting one of these top receivers.
Speaker 6 (33:51):
And then I'm on the Isaiah train at that point.
Speaker 2 (33:53):
No question.
Speaker 7 (33:54):
And this is kind of an opposite, not necessarily opposite,
but at twelve where you're picking right now, probability of
an offensive lineman right there.
Speaker 4 (34:02):
At twelve, Yeah, probability, Yeah, like one that's worth picking,
or that you would pick one.
Speaker 7 (34:08):
Do you think there is a probability of the Cowboys
picking an offensive lineman as.
Speaker 4 (34:12):
I'd say twenty that's like, I think it's pretty high
probability really, just because I don't know if they are
sold on the future of Zach, whether he returns or not.
I don't think they're sold on the future of Zach
even if if that's the case.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
And you say, oh, but what about brock Kaffman and Temah,
what about the depth?
Speaker 4 (34:29):
I think both of those guys are great, But if
they're filling the role of Zach Martin, then you don't
have any more depth.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
Yeah, And there's a question around Terrence Steele. There's a
question around Tyler that that's three of your five starting
offensive lineman and.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
The other guy just switched positions as his rookie season
came to a close, of course, with Cooper Beeby.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Or came into fruition.
Speaker 7 (34:47):
And I think that changes whether or not you decide
to cut Terrence Steele, which saves you money on the
Yeah on the cap.
Speaker 6 (34:55):
Correct, Yeah, it would if you cut Terrence.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
I'm only repeating that because I've heard that.
Speaker 6 (35:00):
You know it would. I mean, we're just objective.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
How many years hasn't been since he had his contract two?
Speaker 12 (35:05):
Jeez?
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (35:06):
So I mean he's still actually he's played through two
full seat. Yeah, he's still in that restructured window. Actually,
or you could you know, approach him for a pay reduction.
I mean, was he making a year? I don't have
his contract running front? I'm crazy, right, I'll pull up, but.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
I mean it's a it's a metal.
Speaker 6 (35:22):
But I don't.
Speaker 3 (35:22):
So the problem with entertaining release or waving Terrence Steele,
releasing Terrence Steel is everything. Kyle just said. You need
to see Tyler Guy in a year two. He has
some struggles, has some injury issues. He battled through in
Zach Martin. Even if Zach Martin doesn't retire physically, he's
not back at form. So you can't risk moving on
(35:44):
from Terrence Steele with these other issues going on your
offensive line as well.
Speaker 7 (35:48):
His cappit for the next three seasons eighteen twenty one
and then eighteen.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
That's pretty big.
Speaker 6 (35:56):
I just steel though, because you don't have nobody to
put it. That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
Like, you're you're not in a good situation across the
offense line enough where you could sit back and be like, yeah,
I'm starting right tackle who also showed signs of getting
back to his his form on the back end of
last season. You're not in a position to let that
guy go when you know you have other things to
the left of him.
Speaker 2 (36:13):
I still think he's still got some dog in on them.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
Agree, we're just talking objectively. I personally would not move
on from Tera. I would figure out a way to
rework the contract, whether that be restructure or pay reduction
or whatever the case.
Speaker 7 (36:26):
If you out, if you give the potential out for
now this year, this offseason, it would be a nine
point three million dollars saving no dead cap hit.
Speaker 2 (36:34):
Okay, so that's not that bad.
Speaker 5 (36:36):
Like, I genuinely am excited to see the impact that
these coaches, these old line specific coaches are going to
have on this unit, because I think that as long
as you know the reason why if you have guys
that are capable and guys who are willing. I think
that you can take that natural dog that's in them
(36:58):
and bring it out and make them a dog on monster.
And so I like the bass, I like the Hoffman.
You have some guys in there who who've shown you
the grit. They've shown you the ability to block some
of the best in the league. With great coaching from
not just one great coach, I'm talking about two three
coaches that literally all they do is focus on the
running the game and developing offensive linement.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
I'm excited about that.
Speaker 5 (37:22):
So the likelihood of Martin retiring is most likely high.
I would imagine they're not coming back. Whatever, whatever you
want to lean on there, I'm okay with that. With
that avoid that's going to be left because there was
a void for a majority of the season. I feel
good about the offensive line and what they're and they've
(37:42):
invested there, So I wouldn't personally invest in the old
lignment with that twelfth.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
Pick or dropping back.
Speaker 5 (37:50):
I want positions that are harder to develop, harder.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
To pick right.
Speaker 5 (37:56):
It's very it's very difficult to pick a receiver man
like most and that's the reason why I kind of
shy away from the running back side. Most teams have
how many running backs that they cycle through? Multiple multiple,
there's not there's there's very few teams that have just
that one guy who's just your that's your main dude, right,
there's there's there's a handful of it.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
That's the pull of Ashton genty as he would be
that dude.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
Correct, because right now with Ricodua not on the contract,
we talked about who you have. You have Ju's Hunter
and Malie Davis. You you don't have any that you
can run through. I just think but outside of Ceedee Lamb, yeah,
who you are you're not getting talking from objectively?
Speaker 6 (38:34):
No, no, no, no no, I just I just think you
at least have bodies. It's harder to pick right at
it is.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
For every Justin Jefferson, there's a Josh Rager, for every
CD Lamb, there's a Jerry Judy, you know, Like I mean,
those guys will happen, they will not.
Speaker 2 (38:49):
You have to have a two part of it. You
have to have a one two punch of receiver. You
have to.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
I just ran a simulation just for fundsies, Uh, just
for funies. I would trade back in this simulation just
out of here's the guys that are gone, cam Ward
Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter, Tteroa, McMillan, Malachi Starks, Luther Burden,
Mason Graham, Will Campbell, Mike Green, Ashton Gent gone at
ten to the Bears.
Speaker 2 (39:13):
John A.
Speaker 4 (39:13):
Barron is gone at eleven. You don't have anybody I'm
trading moving me. But also the thought process there is
who are they gonna come up to?
Speaker 2 (39:22):
Go get?
Speaker 4 (39:23):
So there's there's a couple of thought prospers's there all
the thought process I guess Sanders would be on the
board there too. So maybe if somebody wants a quarterback,
come get shear Sanders. All right, we're gonna take our
second break. We apologize for not getting the calls on

Speaker 4 (41:51):
To Talking Cowboys back here on Talking Cowboys. This portion
of the show brought to you by and VISI Line,
the official smile of the Alice Cowboys. Let's get to
our phone line. We got a couple of minutes left. Nebby,
You're on top Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (42:05):
What's going on now?
Speaker 12 (42:07):
Hi, guys, thank you so much for taking my call.
First of all, since it's his birthday today, I want
to give a shout a shout out to my brother.
I love you so much, Happy birthday. And second of all,
(42:31):
I know this is not gonna happen, but I would
love for us to draft Tyler Warren, the tight end
out of Penn State. But since I know that's not
gonna happen, I want us to either select the running
(42:53):
back from Boise State or the wide receiver out of
the University of Missouri, my man Mickey Spagnola's alma mater.
(43:17):
H And one last thing I want to say before
I go in, and that is I love the coaching
staff that we've built around Brian Schottenheimer. So I am
(43:38):
definitely going to give Brian Schottenheimer a chance, and hopefully
this upcoming season we can shot the world and be
the kind of team I firm believe what we can
(44:02):
be take care. Thank you so much for being patient
with me, and have a great week. Thanks, I love
you all, Bye.
Speaker 4 (44:13):
Love you to you, NAB appreciate you the call as always. Yeah,
I mean giving Brian Schottenheimer a shot, no pun intended.
That's kind of the thought process behind I think all
of us here, right.
Speaker 2 (44:26):
We were very.
Speaker 4 (44:26):
Adamant initially the Mike McCarthy era was not a bad era,
but we all knew the shortcomings there and the winning football,
a lot.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
Of winning football. We didn't necessarily want to move on.
Speaker 4 (44:37):
And part of why we didn't want to move on
was because of what he had established here. There's still
things established here now that Schottenheimer is stuck around. Not
making the point that hey, it was Shottenheimer or nobody,
but at least giving him a shot before you kind
of come to conclusions and you make those early thought processes,
and yeah.
Speaker 2 (44:56):
Get love and the coaching staff that they've built.
Speaker 4 (44:58):
I love the staff, and that was one of my
biggest questions was x's and o's, how is that going
to work out with Brian Schottenheimer. And one of the
things I said was if you build a staff underneath
him that is good in the X's and o's department.
Then I will feel much better about this hire. And
they've certainly done that.
Speaker 7 (45:12):
And we get to hear from the coordinators for the
first time today, like in less than an hour hours. Yeah,
we'll be up on Dallas Cowboys dot com.
Speaker 6 (45:20):
Please check that out.
Speaker 4 (45:20):
All right, let's get to our second call.
Speaker 2 (45:26):
This is Irwin in Colorado. Irwin. You're on Talker Cowboys.
Speaker 14 (45:30):
Hey, good morning guys. How you guys doing. Hey, So,
just a couple of things. I'd like to get some good,
good feedback from you guys and normally call on storyline
and talk with Nick, but I want.
Speaker 2 (45:44):
I'm kidding, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 14 (45:46):
But kind of like one of those guys really listened.
I listened to all the shows, but I really want.
Speaker 2 (45:50):
To man, we appreciate you, love it, appreciate it.
Speaker 14 (45:53):
Yeah. So, just a couple of things. Uh, if the
fans know anything, and you guys can confirm this. If
Jerry Jones doesn't sign Micah Parsons to a contract here
pretty quick and it drags out through training camp, we
pretty much know how this is going to go. And
the other thing I wanted to touch on, I wanted
to push back on Isaiah and I hate to do this,
(46:15):
but yeah, you mentioned something earlier about the Cowboys have
learned from other teams recently, history has shown us they
have not learned, uh from other teams like the Eagles,
the forty nine ers, and you know, teams that have
been real competitive last few years, because truly, if they've
(46:37):
learned from those things, they would have done the things
that you guys have been talking about. And I just
thanks for taking my call. I mean, I really appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (46:45):
Thanks for a calling man.
Speaker 5 (46:48):
So I don't believe that you can witness the things
that you've witnessed from other organizations and not learn whether
or not you apply that knowledge exactly, a completely different conversation.
Speaker 4 (46:58):
The opportunity to learn is and it has been there, yes,
and the and.
Speaker 2 (47:03):
The acknowledged it on several occasions.
Speaker 7 (47:05):
They acknowledge what other teams are doing and they have
things are done differently here, and they've talked about that.
It's the action right, with no doubt they've learned it well.
Speaker 4 (47:15):
And that goes back to the Stephen Jones conversation we
had last week. Is yeah, he's saying all the right things.
He's saying things need to change because we haven't gotten
the job done. That was part of his conversation directly
to us at the senior role and mobile was we
haven't gotten the job done, so something needs to change
along the way. Well, this is where you can show
that change along the way. And like we said too,
(47:36):
actions will speak louder whenever they come. But if they
don't come, that's when there's going to be criticism, and
they will have criticism.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
If they do not deserve it.
Speaker 4 (47:43):
That's show and that's part of the criticism that they're
going to welcome. The one action they can control right
this second has been the coaching staff.
Speaker 2 (47:52):
Check that box. It looks great. I like what we've done.
Speaker 4 (47:55):
The second action you can do is sign Michael Parsons
will see if they check that box down the line.
Then from that point four where the dominoes can fall
as they may. But at least right now they're one
for one, but they're at they're at bat for their
second truck.
Speaker 6 (48:08):
The tag windows open today, that's open today.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
Yeah, and just a little clarity, you're not gonna tag
I know.
Speaker 6 (48:14):
Yeah, that was there's nobody nobody the plane goose.
Speaker 4 (48:18):
Here's the tag that's going to happen and prepare for
this over the next couple of years. The tag will
happen next year with a guy named Brandon Aubrey. I
think they will tag him because it makes sense. The
tag your kicker, and then how many people do it.
Speaker 7 (48:31):
Because the average kicker salary is not gonna top five
of the average and it's not like a defensive end
or something.
Speaker 2 (48:37):
Correct. How many guys get restructured this year this offseason?
Speaker 6 (48:40):
Three? Oh?
Speaker 2 (48:42):
Probably prediction five? Yeah, you got you got three.
Speaker 6 (48:46):
I'm going three.
Speaker 4 (48:47):
They're gonna go aggressive, I think because they don't they
don't think it when the Eagles win the.
Speaker 6 (48:51):
Sup Yeah, I could see it.
Speaker 3 (48:53):
I could see four or five, But I think that
fourth and or fifth is based upon the spending that
firsts after you pull the first take the over.
Speaker 2 (49:01):
I'm gonna go fifty three like Jeopardy. That's not Jeopardy,
that's true throwing a number at a board. Fifty three numbers?
Speaker 6 (49:17):
Yeah, money, but really quick? But could you know? So?
Speaker 3 (49:21):
Isaiah mentioned it and he's correct. Today starts the first
day of Cowboys and any team being able to apply
the tag, not only the franchise tag, but transition tag
as well. The deadline to complete or make that designation
is March fourth by four pm Eastern time.
Speaker 2 (49:35):
So there anybody the tag.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
It's not expected that the Cowboy I know there's there's
been a dialogue of discourse on Twitter here the past
couple days wondering if the Cowboys could use a tag
on Osa. But the franchise tag at defensive tackle is
over twenty three million dollars, So don't see that. Even
the trans even the transition tag is it's less expensive,
(49:56):
but it's still costly because it's roughly around eighteen million
dollars for the transition like but I don't know if
you like it right. And the quick difference franchise tag,
if it's an exclusive, nobody can negotiate. If it's a
non exclusive franchise tag, they can negotiate, but the price
is still higher. Transition tag lower price, but the offer
can be made from someone else, and if it's not matched,
the Cowboys lose him and get no compensation.
Speaker 7 (50:16):
How soon, just for clarity for fans, how soon can
you extend micaeh?
Speaker 2 (50:21):
Now you can do it yesterday?
Speaker 5 (50:25):
Why he was bowling with make a wish kids had
have been perfect.
Speaker 2 (50:30):
And there's no there's no advantage to waiting on it
right now.
Speaker 3 (50:33):
There is a penalty for waiting though, because you don't
get the savings right now, and then if you wait
until next offseason to do it, of course expires, then
there's no savings, no reward.
Speaker 2 (50:42):
It's all captween March. There's no that or April.
Speaker 5 (50:46):
Extension needs to happen prior to what date do it
to reap the benefit.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
I mean the we sellary cap window and New Year.
That's all with March tenth. I believe March fifth fifteen legal.
Speaker 2 (50:57):
So an extension for Michael Parson needs to happen before
March ten. Probably.
Speaker 6 (51:00):
Yeah, you like.
Speaker 3 (51:02):
You can know the money you have legally tamp Okay, cool,
That's that's what March tenth is what we're looking for.
Speaker 2 (51:08):
Ideally, we'll see you then, we'll see you next week.
Speaker 4 (51:12):
We're talking Cowboys next week for Isaiah stand Back, Josh Rodriguez, Patrick,
No s Walker, Chris Kyle, you've been saying so long,
We'll see you next week with more Talking Cowboys. This
has been a production of Dallascowboys dot Com and the
Dallas Cowboys Football Club
