(01:22):
this is Matt Matta. Thank you, Matt. This is talking pets.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Cherry, Cherry, Terry, Terry.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Why did I know that? For some reason, Matt Mattera,
you were gonna play that song out of all the
songs that I gave you a beast to play, I
had a feeling you were going to go with jelly beans.
It was the first one on the list. To be honest,
I always it.

Speaker 7 (02:29):
Well, guy, well.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Maybe maybe I actually put it out there for you
to play that one. Maybe I don't know, but it's
catchy though. It's one of those songs that you leave
the show and all of a sudden you were singing
on the ride home. Jelly beans. Do you like jelly beans?

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Yes, only certain kinds, not the cheap kind.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
No, yeah, I like, well, the regular jelly beans are good.
I don't like the black ones.

Speaker 5 (02:53):
So the licorice, yeah, I don't think anybody really likes those.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
It reminds me of that drink that Matt, you should know,
what's that? Shots there?

Speaker 2 (03:04):
You go?

Speaker 7 (03:05):
Yeah, it kind of reminds me that I can't drink.
It reminds me of the good and Plenty candy.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Could you imagine, tho if they made alcoholic jelly beans,
people would be to it. I mean, they make alcohol
like anything. Now you get alcohol ice pops like stuff
like that.

Speaker 8 (03:19):
Really, I'm sure there is a jelly being out there somewhere.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
Maybe. Yeah. I was thinking, well, I'm sure of that. Well,
I was hoping, Darien, that was what we were thinking of,
was the edible ones. Well, well, I want to bring
on right now for a couple of minutes. I want
to talk with Suncoast Animal Rescue now. They are actually
out of Hudson, Florida, and Phil Goodman is the director

(03:44):
founder of the organization, and I want to welcome on
to the program right now, mister Phil Goodman, Hey, Phil,
how you doing doing wonderful? I want to introduce you.
Of course, Jasmine's in the house and Matt so tell
us a little bit of out. I was actually this
is how it kind of came about. I was looking
for bunny stories and you know, happy Easter, by the way,

(04:07):
and stories about rabbits and rescues and so on and
so forth, and I stumbled in my own neighborhood. Here
your place, Suncoast Animal Rescue, and so tell us a
little bit about the organization. How long have you guys
been out there.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
We've been business ourselves about three years now. We've volunteered
for other rescues for a little over twenty years and
the side of the branch out on our own. But
our man expertise is becomics such as birds, spread files
like small pocket pets.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
So when you rescue like some of the exotics pocket
pats or birds or whatever or even bunnies, are they
available for ownership if somebody wanted to, you know, take
one in.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
Yeah, we do. We're kind of strict on our betting
to make sure that they're allowed to have the pets
where they're at. They have sometime experience or basic understanding
of their husband try and they haven't means to take
care of them. And we do a home business. Make
sure that they're not like an animal order, they're not
spelling them or break over some of that nature.

Speaker 1 (05:12):
Oh thank you for that. Yeah, that is good. I mean,
if I were ever too, I have two parents and
ever to give them to you. The one thing I
would like to know is that they're going to a
good place and it sounds like you do your homework,
and that's exactly what I appreciate.

Speaker 7 (05:28):
Yeah, do you guys spay and neuter them prior to
allowing them to be adopted, because I know that you
just said you don't want people breeding them.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Yeah, some species we do where we're at it, or
some animals it's difficult to find them that they will
do that spay and neuter. We've done some of the funnies.
We've done pot belly pigs in the past, which we
don't think it very often.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
But Okay, how many animals do you have there now?
At sun Coast Animal Rescue.

Speaker 4 (06:04):
Right now, we're has actually been kind of slow with
the COVID. We're doing some remodeling and renovations on enclosures.
So I think right now we're done, like, let's make
it half it does well, Oh, but that could change it.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
An that's true. That's true. So with your organization, you're
a nonprofit as well? Correct?

Speaker 4 (06:24):
That is correct.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Okay, so you take donations and uh, you know people
can help out. Now again with sun Coast Animal Rescue,
I wasn't familiar and you know, we produced the program
in Tampa Bay Florida. We're heard all over the country,
pretty much all over the world. So you know, if
people want to find out more about Sun Coast Animal
Rescue and kind of explore it. You have a Facebook site,

(06:46):
don't you.

Speaker 6 (06:47):
We do.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
It's under sun Coast Animal Rescue Incorporated. Uh, th'll see.
Our logo is the the Parents And there's also a
picture of me with a large bottle around my neck.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
Was choking you or was that just he was a friend?

Speaker 4 (07:05):
Right? Yeah? We do a lot of public presentations and
try to educate the public, and I guess some understanding
out there of public something almost get us take care
the fire.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
So actually, if people want to find out in the
social media as aspect of things, they can go to
at Suncoast Animal Rescue and find out more information.

Speaker 7 (07:27):
So what do I think?

Speaker 1 (07:29):
A good good friend of mine is Bob Barker from
The Price Is Right and he lived his life with bunnies.
He lost his last one and a couple of years
ago and he's been a big bunny fan. Do you
recommend rabbits as pets?

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Actually, with a little bit of homework, Dan should be
pretty good pets. Our biggest problem was you down here
is everybody get some for easter pets right pretty weeks
later they grow tired of them and they be at
the top with the rescue.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
So also, Phil, do you have a website or do
you just have your Facebook?

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Right now?

Speaker 4 (08:06):
It's just the Facebook, our face Our website is under construction, okay.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
So people can find out more about you on your
facebooks and it's at Suncoast Animal Rescue, so you can
find out. And that's what I'm looking at right now. Actually,
so you've got a lot going on there. You're slow
right now, But then I know a lot of organizations
are because of COVID. There's been a lot of animal
adoptions during COVID. I just hope that they don't decide

(08:33):
to give them all back. But I want to thank
you for shedding the light on Suncoast Animal Rescue with
us and letting us know that you're out there and
and thanks for the good work that you do. And
thank you so much for checking up on the animal
as if they're adopted, because that's really important.

Speaker 7 (08:48):
Yeah, it prob.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
We appreciate you having.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
Us thought anytime. Thanks, Phil, I appreciate it. Take care,
have a good Easter, and give our best to everybody
there at Suncoast Animal Rescue and Hutson, Florida. Thanks Phil,
I take care of it again. That's Phil Goodman. He
is the director and founder there at Suncoast Animal Rescue

(09:13):
and you can find out more about him if you
go to his Facebook page at Suncoast Animal Rescue, So
check it out. There's a lot of information there about
some animals that they have, and I know there's rescue
groups all around the country, so I like the ones
that do their homework and do good for the animals,
and they respect the fact of that they are a

(09:35):
living creature as we are as well. So we'll be
right back after a short pause.

Speaker 9 (09:41):
For those fortunate to have experienced the deep bond and
unconditional love of a companion animal, the death that follows
can be one of the most difficult and misunderstood losses
to go through. Many times, this devastating loss goes unrecognized
and trivialized by family and friends, leaving grieving pet parents

(10:01):
struggling to find healthy ways to cope with the loss.
In and I Love You Still a thoughtful guide and
remembrance journal for healing the loss of a pet. Doctor
Julianne Corbin calls attention to the difficulties unique to the
loss of a beloved pet and provides an interactive and
compassionate guide to help you process your loss and work

(10:23):
towards coming to a place of peace and healing. For
those interested in journal therapy and looking for a professionally
written and compassionate resource to help understand and reconcile the
grief associated with the loss of your pet, this book
is for you and I Love You Still. A thoughtful
guide and remembrance Journal by Julianne Corbin is now available

(10:46):
for purchase on Amazon and other major book retailers.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Let's Talk Pets on Petlife Radio dot com. After five years,

(11:14):
a federal judge in the District of Columbia ruled that
the US Fish and Wildlife Service can no longer withhold
valuable wildlife trade data, such as tracking the imports of
an at risk species killed by trophy hunters into the US.
The ruling to make that information available resulted from a
lawsuit filed by the Humane Society International in twenty sixteen.

(11:38):
Limis l E MIS Data, which stands for Law Enforcement
Management Information System, is a source that tracks every important
export of wildlife into and out of the United States.
This includes hunting trophies like those of imperiled giraffes and leopards,
live animals like birds and reptiles imported for the exotic

(11:59):
pet trade, monkeys used for experiments at research facilities, and
animal skins such as those from snakes and lions. Organizers
like the Humane Society of the United States and Humane
Society International use this data to track trends in wildlife trade,
petitioned the government for increased domestic and international protections for

(12:21):
species threatened by international trade and hold the government accountable
for its actions. The Fish and Wildlife Service should have
never removed access to this information and has been unlawfully
withholding imperative data that impacts wildlife conservation and global health.
Transparency is just prevailed this week, said Laura Smith, a

(12:42):
staff attorney for the Humane Society of the United States
representing Humane Society International. The United States is the world's
largest importer of both legal and illegal wildlife parts and products,
and it is critical that the public has access to
the full picture of the role our country in this
destructive industry. Transparency is critical as scientists and public are

(13:06):
acknowledging the link between the wildlife trade and the threat
of future global pandemics. The full extent to which the
wildlife trade contributes to the spread of diseases is still unknown,
but this information is crucial to solving those missing links
and preventing future outbreaks. Humane Society International has used LEMIS
data to petition the Fish and Wildlife Service for Endangered

(13:29):
Species Act protections of species such as African elephants and
giraffes which are at extreme risk of extinction from trophy
hunting and trade in their parts. Humane Society International also
use the data to petition for Endangered Species Act protections
for the pangolins.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
Now.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Access to this data allows Humane Society International to measure
the United States demand for imperiled wildlife products such as
pangl and scales and identify where increased protections are gently
need it. Humane Society International also needs this information to
work towards increased global protections for these and many more

(14:09):
animals through cities ces as international agreement that regulates trade
in the impaired species. The data is critical to knowing
the role of the United States plays in the destructive
trophy hunting industry. For more information and to join our
social media, Family visit Talkinpets dot Com, Happy Easter. You're

(14:29):
listening to Talking Pets.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
How times.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
That I try to say through.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
It's funny.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Chance see and again you're listening to Talking Pets on

(15:43):
John Patch, Jasmine the Dog Trainer, Matt Mata. So I'm
gonna imagine a lot of things go unknown.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
You know.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
They were saying that, you know, with that law and
everything like that, that they that so many illegal things
go on the wayside because of government. So it's nice
to see that they're actually being transparent now and they're
passing those laws to actually make sure that things are
done the way they should be done. We lose way
too many animals. I don't know if you were on

(16:10):
the show that time when we had Bass on and
he was talking. He was the guy that took care
of the last two white rhinos in the world, and
he was with us. I don't think it was amazing.
It was a mother and daughter and they were the
last white rhinos and they were trying to decide how
they were going to increase the species. So of course,

(16:30):
you know, organizations do freeze sperm like they do for
humans and so on and so forth, and eggs so
that's what they're going to try to do, is fertilize
an egg and put it, I think, into the into
the females and see if by chance they can you know,
get a berth. Hopefully. It's sad to see a species
go instinct, so one day, you know, it might be

(16:51):
us the way things are going. But I want to
ask you I was. I was when I was talking
to Phill there. You know, I mentioned that Bob Barker.

Speaker 2 (16:59):
Had a rabbit.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
He loved his rabbits. Yeah, his rabbits were everything to him,
and they would run around his house, you know, and
he just such a joy. As a matter of fact,
when he lost the last one, I sent him out
a rabbit book and I said, now see if you
get one more, do your homework. So that's what I
sent to him. He sent him back a card and

(17:21):
saying thank you very much. But I think he was
done with the bunnies at the time. But you know,
that's one thing. And Phil brought up a good a
good point too. And it is Easter. It's the holiday
weekend and a lot of people love to give kids
a little chick or a bunny for the holiday, but
then they find out that it's work.

Speaker 5 (17:43):
It is work.

Speaker 7 (17:44):
Bunnies are not low maintenance pets. They're higher maintenance than
a cat.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Wow, I would see that.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
Yeah, and you have to you have to, you know, keep.

Speaker 7 (17:59):
Up the their cage cleanliness, and you've got to groom them.
You've sometimes, especially the bunnies that have longer hair, if
they're left to groom themselves, they can get a blockage
and they're intestines or something. I've read all kinds of
things because I've had bunnies. I'm on my second one
as an adult. I had one as a kid.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
I had one as a kid as well. Yeah, I
haven't had one as an adult. I'm surprised. I've had
everything else.

Speaker 7 (18:25):
Well, you know there, you have to be ready for
a pet like that, and I knew what I was
getting myself into, especially with the second one. But you know,
they can have behavior issues like I was telling you
about mine. Mine is aggressive.

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Yeah, during the commercial bird I thought that was kind
of a funny story.

Speaker 7 (18:44):
But I literally we lost the one that we had.
My daughter was totally attached to him, and I rescued him.

Speaker 5 (18:54):
From a client. This one, I went to the Human
Not Humane Society SPCA. And adopted him.

Speaker 7 (19:01):
No one wanted him because I wonder why because he
was destructive, like he would tear his cage apart, and
he wasn't very social and he was there the longest.

Speaker 5 (19:10):
So I was like, okay, I'll take this one. I
took the problem.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
I actually did that with a male cat, and it's
the last time I I would get a male cat.
I'll just say that I loved him for seventeen and
a half years and I put up with a lot.
But it's tough when you end up taking the animal
no one wants because you know it's got issues.

Speaker 7 (19:31):
Of course, yeah, I was prepared, but you know I
wasn't prepared to get growled at by bunny.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Attack See Jasmine struggling with the bunny on the floor. Hey,
we're gonna take a little break and we come back.
We're gonna have an animal sound for you, and if
you can guess what it is, we're gonna give you
a choice. And we've got a new sponsor with this
called Poop and Tie, and that will be one of
your choices. We'll be right back.

Life Radio, petline Radio, petlifradio dot com.

Speaker 10 (21:10):
Followed by most quall don't do, don't get back? Listening
to the wind of change?

Speaker 3 (21:24):
Oh girls, summer night?

Speaker 10 (21:27):
So just passing by? Who listening to the wind of change?

Speaker 1 (21:59):
The worst? And you're listening to talking pets. Pick up
the phone and give us a call. Eight four four
three oh five seven eight zero zero. That's the number
to call if you've got a question or a comment
a story. Jasmine the dog trainer is in a house
with us here, so ready to answer your questions. So

(22:19):
pick up the phone, give us a call, and maybe
you have a bunny question and Jasmine can answer that,
especially for the angry bunnies. Eight four four three oh
five seven eight zero zero. We're gonna play name that
animal sound and if you can name this animal, we're
gonna send out a choice. Actually you can pick. There's

(22:41):
quite a bit. Actually you can go at Life Boost Coffee.
Today we are drinking the French vanilla coffee. Good guys, yes, terrific.
You can go with that. And actually it's awesome coffee.
It's smooth, low acid, small bats roasted, clean ground coffee
and that's gonna come out to you from Life Boost Coffee.
Or you could go with Scoey ten X the odor eliminator.

(23:03):
We also have now new to the show, poop and Tie.
And poop and tie. Actually these are poop bags with
the tie they actually have. I think I have an
show you.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
See it's got the actual yeah, which is cool because
then this way you don't have to tie it or
anything like that. You just pulled the drawstring and the
bag that comes with it has a hook on it
and a flashlight, so with a flashlight you can find
your poop.

Speaker 5 (23:33):
Yeah, well for the night time poops. Yeah, that makes sense.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
Hopefully you can find them in the day, not like
they run away from you.

Speaker 10 (23:41):
No, I'm not that bag get away with me.

Speaker 5 (23:48):
I think the coffee.

Speaker 1 (23:52):
The coffee always brings me up. It's a good thing.
So you can go life Boost coffee. You can go
with poop and tie and you actually get the bag,
that Spencer bag with the led flashlight now all attached,
and two pooper bags, two rolls of pooper pegs. And
then you can also go with books from Chicken Soup

(24:12):
for the soul. I only have cat books, some Chicken
Soup now, but there's a new book that a new
book that I just got today and it's called BU
one hundred and one Stories of Affirmation, Determination and Female Empowerment.
If you want to go with that book, or you
can go with I have a dog book called A
Dog's Promise by Bruce Cameron, So if you want a

(24:34):
dog book, you can go with that. But we also
have CDs from Gino Sosani. So those are your choices.
You got quite a bit. If you can name this
animal now, obviously, would you say that's a bird?

Speaker 5 (24:56):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (24:57):
Okay, Well I don't know where he's been, but we
haven't heard he's been hiding. Yeah he has, so name
this animal. Obviously it's a bird, but what kind of
bird is it? So for you bird watchers out there,

(25:19):
or take a guess eight four four three oh five
seven eight zero zero. If you know what bird that is,
then pick up the phone, give us a call, take
a chance, and if you've won something in the last
ninety days, you have to pick something you haven't won,
or else if you want, you can send it to
a friend and say, hey, try this out. But you
can go with the Life Boost coffee. Of course, the

(25:40):
brand today that we have or the flavor is French Vanilla.
You can go with poop and tie and these are
actually you'll get the drawstring poop bags with the dispenser
and the led light flashlight attached to it. You can
go with Skoe ten X, the older odor eliminator. You
can go to book or you can go to CD
eight four four three oh five seven eight zero zero.

(26:01):
Name this bird. Everybody's probably like, what are you kidding?
They all sound alike to me.

Speaker 7 (26:12):
Actually they don't know, But I mean, you hear birds
and you don't see where.

Speaker 5 (26:17):
The noise is coming from. Sometimes I'm sure I've heard
that before.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
It was I gotta nowhere. All of a sudden pang,
all the lines lit up. So maybe somebody does know
what kind of bird this is? Eight four four three
oh five seven eight zero zero. If you know, give
us a call. So, actually, uh Vano Matt, can you

(26:42):
can you demonstrate actually the coffee brand that we're giving
away today to everybody on Facebook Live. If you're watching
us on Facebook Live at Talking Pets Radio, that's the
coffee that we're giving away today of it. Yeah, come on,
do the Vano Matt. I mean, get up there and
sway and work it. Yeah, really work it. Smile there

(27:05):
you go, getting better strike a pod. So that's what
you can go with. You can go with the coffee
or more. But pick up the phone and give us
a call. Yeah, thank you, you did well, young man.
I appreciate that. Maybe have a future in television.

Speaker 5 (27:23):
You're gonna get some scouts calling you.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
Give us a call if you think you know what
it is. Eight four four three oh five seventy eight
hundred and uh So if you call and you get
a ringing, don't hang up. That means Darien's going to
pick up on you. So eight four four three oh
five seven eight zero zero and we come back. We'll
take your guesses. Some lines are open, so call and
if you do get a ringing, that means you got
a line eight four four three oh five seventy eight hundred.

(27:48):
This is talking pets. You've been sad on.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
What the hell I'm my child to learn?

Speaker 4 (28:04):
Just another picture?

Speaker 9 (28:05):
A pale.

Speaker 3 (28:13):
Stuff, Molly, here's your dinner, zeus.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
That's not get food.

Speaker 8 (28:22):

cat's eating experience with the cat tree tray. The cat
tree tray keeps your cat's food off the floor and
conveniently located on the cat tree. It's the perfect way

on name that animal sound, which is a bird sound?
Today in this hour of the program, and this is
the sound. We're gonna try going out to Tolosa, New Mexico,

(32:46):
and Mary, Hey, Mary, how you doing. I'm doing great. Well,
welcome to the program, and thank you. Go ahead. Were
you saying something you want to talk to me? I
need to cut back on this coffee. So, Mary, what
do you think that this is?

Speaker 3 (33:10):
Is it a hawk?

Speaker 2 (33:12):
Do you think that that noise.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
Would actually be a hawk? I would say that's kind
of a good guess, but in the long run of things,
I would have to say, you lose good daser. You're wrong. Mary,
try on another one, all right, love me. Mary. That's Mary.

(33:40):
She knows the game, she says, I'll try in another one.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
All right.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
So we're gonna go to Eureka, California, and Jim and
Jim thinks she knows what it is actually And this
is the sound once again, Jim and Eureka, California. What
kind of bird do you think that is?

Speaker 2 (34:02):
A bald eagle? Stupid?

Speaker 1 (34:05):
A personal below normal intelligence? Hello, Yes, that would be incorrect.

Speaker 4 (34:16):
Oh, but usually just be the one that higher pitched.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Yeah, yeah, okay, all right, thanks Jim.

Speaker 5 (34:22):
Thanks Jim.

Speaker 1 (34:23):
That's Jim out there in Eureka. California. He was wrong.
Apparently he didn't hear stupid. I tried to hit it again.
It didn't work.

Speaker 7 (34:31):
It didn't, but the.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
Sound is out there, So cal if you know what
that is, I've got to say, I don't know what
it is, but you guessed what you were wrong.

Speaker 5 (34:47):
But I don't thank loser.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
You're a loser. Are you feeling sorry for yourself? Are you? Jasmine?
I'm not, and I will say you're you were on
the right course though, because you said a small bird.
Now so far Mary and Jim actually guessed larger birds.

Speaker 7 (35:07):
Okay, so this.

Speaker 1 (35:09):
Beautiful bird is smaller, more common. Do you think you
know what it is?

Speaker 3 (35:20):
No?

Speaker 10 (35:20):
Oh, what would you do with the brain if you had?

Speaker 2 (35:23):
That?

Speaker 5 (35:24):
Was Tasmin, I mouthed in answer to it.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
All right, well we got about a minute. If somebody
can answer this, I'm trying to if I can't give
the color of it, because well there's the clue. I
can't give the color of it because if I name
the color of it, I name the bird.

Speaker 5 (35:39):
Oh, I know exactly what it is.

Speaker 1 (35:41):
So what kind of bird is it?

Speaker 7 (35:43):
Eight?

Speaker 6 (35:45):
No?

Speaker 1 (35:45):
Eight four four three oh five seven eight zero zero
call Darien will put you on with us. And if
you know what kind of bird makes this sound, so
you're getting educated today, that is the bird. And if
I name it, I give it away because if I
say the color of it, that is the name of
the bird.

Speaker 7 (36:07):
One one.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
