Paulus är en av Kristendomens portalfigurer. Han är en av världens mest berömda brevskrivare och breven till de tidiga kristna är en viktig del av Nya Testamentet. Paulus var ”hedningarnas apostel” och på sina missionsresor runt Medelhavet upplevde han skeppsbrott, rån, hunger och törst. Och satt periodvis fängslad. Under tvåtusen år har han påverkat kristna tänkare som Augustinus, Thomas av Aquino och Luther.
