Speaker 4 (00:47):
How is everybody?
Speaker 2 (00:48):
Hi?
Speaker 4 (00:49):
Hi, dude, that was a fun eccent you had little happening.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
It was a little, it was a lot. And then
I was like, oh, it's too much. I'm gonna tone
her down there.
Speaker 4 (00:57):
I never feel that way, but I know you know
that that's my friend.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
I do know that I love it.
Speaker 4 (01:03):
I wish you felt that way ten more of the time.
Rop says, no, twenty thirty thirty. Yeah, that's fair, that's fair.
But I'm a you know, I'm a peacock. Wrop. You
gotta let me fly?
Speaker 2 (01:15):
Isn't to let you fly?
Speaker 4 (01:16):
That what Marky Mark says says the other guys. Is
that okay? Oh we're already having a good time.
Speaker 2 (01:23):
How long are you sorry?
Speaker 3 (01:25):
I am doing well. I thought of Adam Chance today.
I was glad that I had my dentist appointment earlier
in the day.
Speaker 2 (01:36):
Because I had.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
To get a filling taken out and then put back in.
Oh but they numbed me up and my whole left
side was just numb.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
You should have just recorded a video just been like.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Well, like talking was fine. I didn't have that issue
at all, but I took a sip of water and
it was just all over my shirt.
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Look the airplane guy here like it was a drinking problem.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Yeah, exactly exactly. So I have that going for me.
And yeah, otherwise, I've just been trying to be busy
because today, the day that we're recording this is election day.
Speaker 4 (02:18):
Yeah, election day.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
And I didn't want to look at the news all
day long.
Speaker 4 (02:23):
So we scheduled this today and I was like, oh, no,
I kind of want to watch the things. And then
I was like, oh, maybe this is good.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
It is good.
Speaker 4 (02:32):
Maybe I shouldn't be watching.
Speaker 3 (02:34):
I remember I was with you the last election because
we were he drove back, we drove back from Nashville.
Holy cow, you know this thirteen hour drive from Nashville
because it was in the middle of COVID And yeah,
you hung out in your apartment and we watched a
bunch of news coverage.
Speaker 4 (02:55):
That's right.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
And yeah, it took him a long time to figure
it out.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
It's so long. So it's like they'll be deciding.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
It'll still be h Yeah, well, after we're done recording.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
The positive is it sounds like a voter turnouts super high.
Sounds like, so that's good. I make your voice heard
either way. I guess like a lot of people voted,
so that's cool.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
That's cool.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
I don't know I have I have opinions that I'm
sure everyone knows, but we don't need to get into
them here.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Yeah, we don't need to get it.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
What about movies? Have you been watching any movies?
Speaker 3 (03:28):
But I did watch a new fun well it was
a new movie.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
Yep, I get it.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
I went to Netflix and I watched the directorial debut
of Anna Kendrick called The Woman of the Hour.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
Oh, I haven't heard a darn thing about this. Tell
me everything.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
This was the film.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
It's based on a true story. It's set in the
nineteen seventies about a serial killer who was a contestant
on the.
Speaker 4 (03:56):
Dating game Oh god, okay.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Yeah, and Anna Kendrick she directed it, but she also
stars in it. And she plays this aspiring actress who
gets on the dating game and so she's the woman
that's like asking the questions. Oh okay, And it was
a great debut for her, Like it was really well
made fun. Tony Hale plays the TV show host and
(04:21):
he plays he plays a real d bag in it,
which you don't see him do very often.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
It's kind of yeah, I like that, and.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
There's some other folks you definitely recognize. It actually starts
off with this kind of brutal scene where her friend
from the Pitch Perfect films and she actually used to
sing with Chris Rupp and Adam bestin Kelly Jakle.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
She she gets to flex some serious acting chops in
the very very first scene, like a lot of close
ups on her face and just like having to react
and that's pretty cool. It was intense, man, but yeah,
it's pretty good. It's it's only an hour and thirty
five minutes, so you're in.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
You're out. You know.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
I always love those love that I would say, if
sexual assault is like a big trigger for you, i'd
probably steer clear of this film.
Speaker 4 (05:15):
Yeah that's fair.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
But other than that, very interesting watch. And I would
imagine Anna Hendrick is going to keep directing after this
because she did a great job.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Yeah, that's cool. I feel like it would be so
hard to direct yourself, but maybe I don't know. A
lot of people do it, so maybe they figure it out.
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Yeah, just be difficult. I wouldn't be good at any
of those things.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
I guess. I'm always giving myself notes anyway, so it
just depends on if.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
The notes are good.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
Right.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
I didn't like.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
What you did there, not at all.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Do it like this?
Speaker 4 (05:52):
Well?
Speaker 2 (05:53):
No, I guess I can't.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Yeah. I wouldn't be good at any of that stuff.
Speaker 3 (05:56):
You're out, But if you're interested, it's on Netflix.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Check it out.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
Cool.
Speaker 2 (06:01):
Have you been watching anything?
Speaker 4 (06:03):
Yeah, it's actually a movie that you mentioned recently, maybe
on our VIP anyway, it doesn't matter. I went to
the theater and saw the new film Anora You did
I did.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
I'm jealous.
Speaker 4 (06:18):
It was really compelling this movie. I didn't know anything
about it going in other than what we had talked
about which was basically, I don't know anything about this movie,
and I'm kind of interested. The gal who plays Anora,
the character Mikey Madison, really great. She's super impressive in
(06:40):
this movie. And there's a bunch of bunch of other
people I don't know in this Yeah. The sort of
like elevator pitch for this is Honora is a sex worker.
She meets a dude that is the son of a
Russian oligarch and they have sort of a romance. It happens,
and it's all about the craziness that follows that. This
(07:05):
movie is way way funnier than I thought it would be.
I really enjoyed the comedic parts of it a lot.
It's it sort of was like a touch too long
for me. So it's not like a perfect movie by
any means, but it's it's really compelling, super interesting and
really funny, and I sort of was like scared it
(07:27):
was gonna be like a horror film or something. It's not.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
That sounds like it's pretty indie.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
It is very indie, and it is super intense at points,
but yeah, it's overall it's a super interesting movie and
it's it's a fun there's nothing else like quite like it.
It's got you know, homages to other things, of course,
but it it feels it feels nice, it feels original.
I don't know, I really enjoyed it. There is a
(07:54):
ton of like sex stuff in it, so the people
don't love that part. It's pretty like there's mature content
that stuff goes. Yes, it'd be one of those where
you're like Luise, oh gosh, you know, heavens, but it
was really good. I really enjoyed it. I was surprised
(08:15):
to hear afterward there's some buzz about like uh oscar
stuff like Afords. Yeah, and I I don't know that
get that, but it is really good, like I had
a great time watching it, So yeah, maybe maybe it is.
So yeah, I would recommend it for sure. I think
you'll enjoy it. Whatever.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
The thing that I keep seeing from different like reviewers. Sure,
one thing that stuck out with me was one guy
said that it was it had the feel of like
Safty Brothers, like independent, really intense film, but instead of
all that anxiety in a Safty Brothers film, it's filled
(08:54):
with comedy.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
Or yes, I think that's actually a really great way
to say it. So and genuinely like, I was like
tears in my eye laughing at several points of this. Sure,
and it's you know, I don't know, it's interesting, so cool.
It's worth checking out. Check out cool.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
I'm glad to hear that you liked it.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
Yeah, it was fun.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
It was fun.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
How about streaming things? Have you been streaming?
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Yes? I had mentioned it when I started the show
a few episodes ago. But I finished the series Fight
Night the Million Dollar Heist.
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Oh, that's right, while ago.
Speaker 3 (09:29):
Yeah, it's on Peacock. All the episodes were like almost
an hour, so it was it took a little bit
of time.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
I think it was eight episodes, but.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
This was the one with Kevin Hart and Don Samuel Jackson,
Karence Howard, Yea and even more people you'd recognize, but
really well done. It's in like little sections, so it
starts with the Muhammad Ali fight, then it deals with
the heist, then it deals with the retribution for the heist.
(10:01):
Everyone's really good in it. It's also kind of a
love letter to Atlanta as well. I was glad I
checked it out. I wouldn't be surprised if some of
these actors get nominated for Emmy's or Golden Globes and
yeah stars, it's like my first real series. I think
on Peacock that was you know, like just a peacock thing.
(10:24):
That's cool, and yeah, they went they went all out
for it.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
Nice. I love that.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
It was cool. What have you been streaming?
Speaker 4 (10:33):
This is another you recommendation? I went rub heavy here
this time I watched Will and Harper.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
Did you love it?
Speaker 4 (10:42):
I loved this.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
I knew you would.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
One of my favorite things I've seen. Rob mentioned it.
I think it was just last episode maybe, But for folks,
if you didn't hear that, this is about Will Ferrell
and Harper. What's Harper's name? Harper Steele. Harper is now
transitioned into Harper, but was formerly a writer and Will
and Harper met each other when they started SNL. Harper
(11:07):
used to be a fella and has now transitioned. Like
I said, and this is a story about them going
across the country and just kind of navigating friendship, you know,
as things change in life, and this is a big
change obviously, but also just people change over time and
all these things. And it's beautiful, man, I really really
(11:29):
enjoyed its super funny obviously because they're both like really
they're both wacky, funny people, which is really fun because
it's cool to see at points like you know, Harper's
like you're my friend. There are no like I'll answer
anything you ever want to know about anything, you know,
like we're really good friends. I want to you know,
(11:49):
have this experience with you, and well.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
And he knows, she knows that the questions that Will
Ferrell's going to be asking are like from a place
of love.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
Yeah, I don't think that was a big part of that,
but yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
I loved and I loved that was one thing about it,
you know, just because like I haven't had that much
experience with people who have transitioned either, and just that
understanding of like, oh there's questions, of course, right like
all of us have where a friend can ask me
that and I'll tell them maybe I won't want to
answer it at that time, but it's different if a
friend to ask you that than if a stranger asked
(12:24):
you that or something. So I was like, cool, it's
cool to be curious, but also like, you know, there
are questions that are just not proper you know, or whatever.
But overall, I just thought like, as two human beings
sharing their spirits with one another and just being happy.
Like I loved it. I thought was super funny, super
touching and just really great. I don't know, it just
(12:46):
it warmed the cockles of my heart.
Speaker 2 (12:47):
I really liked it a lot, so and you would.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
Yeah, you nailed that one. And there was definitely some
booze in there.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Yeah, I dud I watched. I watched that one when
I was when I was sick, and it hit a
little harder. Oh yeah, guard was down.
Speaker 4 (13:04):
It's just beautiful. But yeah, I really enjoyed it, and
that was Netflix, I believe. Yeah, so go check that out.
But yeah, what do you think should we do if
you plug runs?
Speaker 2 (13:15):

We thought it would be pretty great to do our
top five favorite parody films.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
I genuinely surprised that we've never done that.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Yeah, it's weird. I was like, oh, this is and
it would have worked great for the last episode too.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
That was part of why I was surprised.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
I was like, yeah, okay, I didn't even think about it.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
So that's a good call. No good call by you.
So that'd be fun. Stick around to check that out. Also,
we have coming attractions. We're gonna have a Thanksgiving movie night,

Movie game night, movie game night.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
Stay tuned for that. It'll be so much fun. A
little movie game action. But we're here today to talk
about a great film from two thousand and four. It
is twenty years old. Somehow, we're here to talk about
Sean of the Dead.
Speaker 5 (14:56):
Whoo.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
And we had to, you know, we had to get
the guy who loves a cornetto more than anyone else
in the world does. He loves an ice cream treat.
And he's been known to live in a in a
little shed in the backyard more than once in his life.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
So let's welcome to playing video games.
Speaker 4 (15:15):
He loves it. Trying to nibble on his friend's arms.
He so give it up for the nibbler himself. Give
it up for Aaron heat box heating.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
What's up? Box?
Speaker 2 (15:27):
What is up?
Speaker 3 (15:38):
We haven't had you on it so long.
Speaker 2 (15:39):
It's excitement is in the air.
Speaker 4 (15:43):
How are you?
Speaker 2 (15:45):
I am doing good. I'm alive. I have goals and dreams.
I have friends and family. I have a computer. That's
all I really want. You look great?
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Do look great? That's a nice hat. I don't think
i've seen that one before.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
It's got dadley. Uh. I bought it actually as a joke,
and then I started to like it.
Speaker 4 (16:06):
You know how that goes?
Speaker 3 (16:08):
Yeah, down that road. I was being ironical and now
I enjoyed it, and you're.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Like, but also I just kind of enjoy it. Yeah, yeah, sorry,
guess I don't know what to tell you.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
Yep, my bad, My bad.
Speaker 4 (16:24):
Well that's fun. Uh well, you've been working quite a lot,
got the music game going, huh.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
Yeah, crushing it all the time. I started a little
bit having a band in dancers, and it's been a
good fun time. And I even had a guy playing
my butler once at the Fitzgerial Theater. His name was
who was that? Oh?
Speaker 4 (16:43):
Yes, guy was good.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
He did a great job. I really liked to except
for the butler a bit.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
But come on, we got a number of emails saying
that very thing. Sad. It was sad. It was just me.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
A video concert is going to come out, like on
November thirtieth, and you're in it. Oh yeah, I forgot.
You're doing.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
Well.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
No, but I'm want to put it on the interwebs.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
That makes sense? Make the twenty four Yeah, yeah, I'm sorry,
I'm old.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
Everyone's like, what do I do with a DVD?
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Right? Where do I put that?
Speaker 4 (17:17):
What do I even do with this?
Speaker 2 (17:18):
Things like this is divvid. What is that?
Speaker 4 (17:21):
What is this?
Speaker 2 (17:22):
Weird?
Speaker 4 (17:23):
This?
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Make it stream that's fun.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
He did have to see a commercial the other day,
like on regular TV, and he was like, what in
the what it just changed? I was like, yeah, this
is an advertisement. He's like what he hasn't seen ads yet? Well,
you just watches streamy yeah stuff. Yes, yeah, that's a
good see.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
I've forced my kids to watch the sports that I watch,
and they get constantly and that's the only time they're
like watching is when the commercials are on because they're
excited about it.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Which is fun. It's okay, yeah, Like but the purple
men and they're like, yeah, that's good.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
I don't care about that.
Speaker 2 (17:59):
Let me in those hot cars. But yes, exactly.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
Intriguing, intriguing, intriguing. I like that. Well, box of your

that one gets played every show.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Pat was showing people He's like, he would show and
be like, guess who this is, and they'd be like, oh,
you know, and took them a while to be like, wait,
wait a minute, a heat box.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Yeah, what's happening. Yeah, that's crazy. That album is wonderful.
Speaker 2 (19:15):

and tap dancing and acting and goofery, So check it out.
(20:05):
A lot of goofree, I would say, I would say
a lot of that, So go check that out too.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
To it.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
It's so fun. I'm love that. You guys are you know,
getting that on the road a little bit more too.
That's fun.
Speaker 2 (20:15):
I'm impressed. It's hard to do it's hard to do that.
It's a lot of you guys have a lot of people. Yeah, yeah,
it's like fifteen people.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
It's crazy production. So it's worth seeing for sure. But
we're here today to talk about a lovely film called
Sean of the Day. We are yeah y excited about
and I think we should get right into it, Rob,
will you.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
Get us started with just a rough synopsis?
Speaker 3 (20:39):
Yeah, let's see how this goes. Sean is a thirty
somethingter loser with a dull, easy existence. When he's not
working at the electronics story, he lives with his slovenly
best friend ed in a small flat on the outskirts
of London. The only unpredictable element in his life is
his girlfriend, Liz, who wishes desperately.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
For Shan to grow up and be a man.
Speaker 3 (21:01):
When the town is inexplicably overrun with zombies, Sean must
rise to the occasion and protect both Liz and his mother.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Okay, all right, cool and.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Yeah whatever, that was the well from Google.
Speaker 4 (21:27):
Well done, well done, nice readings. Let's go to Rotten Tomatoes.
This movie highly acclaimed. Critics have it coming in at
a rock solid ninety two and audience members are one
tick above that even at ninety three percent, So this
is beloved.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
It is indeed the five film. Yeah, which is interesting.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
But let's find out what we think. It's time for
our hot take.
Speaker 3 (21:52):
Hot take.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
That's a hot take.
Speaker 3 (21:57):
That's a hot take. The zombies, the bars on fire.
Speaker 4 (22:02):
The bars on fire. Nice good one, good one. First
on this one. I like this movie a lot. It's
not what I've seen like a bunch of times, but
I've seen it a handful. I think it's a really
fun take on the whole zombie you know, zombie film stuff.
I think it's it is my favorite kind of like
(22:24):
horror slash horror adjacent movie in that it's very funny.
It is kind of gory, but it's not like super
duper scary. That's that's really my that's right in my
avenue for a horror film. I like him to be seely.
I think there's great comedy in this and I think
it it really plays off like the trope super well.
(22:46):
I love how Sean is a loser but also is
actually like kind of legitimately good at protecting people and
you know, being sort of a leader when he needs
to be. I think we all we all want, I believe,
will be Sean if like the pit's the fan, but
you knows. At least for me, I found myself identifying
(23:08):
with Ed like really more than I felt comfortable with
throughout the film. But I think it's just a really
fun movie that doesn't take itself too seriously while also
still being My favorite part about parody films in general
is the like the clear love that they have for
the source material, Like even if they kind of are like,
(23:30):
you know, giving it a hard time and razing it,
they're still like, clearly, I love these films. Edgar Wright
did a great job directing, as he pretty much always does.
I feel like the pacing of the movie is really
fun and great and yeah, so overall, I guess I
don't really have like a super hot take other than
(23:50):
this movie reminds us of the one universal truth, and
that is all the best friendships are predicated on fart jokes,
and I think that's the one thing we can all
agree on.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
I'm sorry, Bukes, it's a good one. No, I'm sorry,
I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (24:07):
Oh, I'll stop doing it and you stopped laughing.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Yeah, such a good bit. But yeah, I really love
this movie. I think it's a good time. I don't know,
that's kind of the hottest thing.
Speaker 3 (24:17):
That's a hot take, dude. I think this movie is
pretty great. And it's another one that I did not
see until many years after.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
It was released.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
That's about two weeks in a row. We're doing episodes
on awesome movies that I missed Initially. We did Galaxy
Quest last week.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
And I didn't see that one until later.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
But yeah, I just saw this one for the first
time last year and loved it so much. Edgar Wright
wrote this with Simon Peg. He directed it beautifully. This
is one of his first things he ever did. Did
some really cool things with the shots in this movie.
I particularly loved the long shots, like those one shots
(24:58):
from him walking from his apartment to the store before
everyone becomes zombies and then does the same walk when
he's hungover and everyone is zombiefied, and you can see
the differences, like he assumes the the guy begging for
change the day before is the same guy, not.
Speaker 2 (25:17):
A zombie, and it's just it's hilarious.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
I also loved how they teased the zombie stuff, like
focusing on Simon Pegg's feet when he's waking up and
like walking like a zombie and like easyy.
Speaker 4 (25:31):
On and is like exactly that.
Speaker 3 (25:35):
But yeah, Edgar Wright makes mundane things super interesting. So
like even him just doing getting coffee buttering toast, like
he does this like fast zoom, and it's just like
just it's always keeping you interested. The energy always stays up.
And yeah, there's just like no fat in this movie
(25:59):
at all. Like everything thing works. So the tone of
this film is super fun, very funny, it also gets
emotional in some in some parts, but there's always this
like underlying humor throughout everything. I thought the cast was
really fun. This got me, you know, Simon Peg, this
got him really big. And that guy is just awesome
(26:22):
and his buddy Nick Frost as well, Like, yeah, they
just their chemistry is wonderful.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
I'm a big fan my hottest take.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Yeah, I get that Nick Frost is into hip hop,
but we can't have him throwing up the N word.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
I know.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
It was like it wasn't a hard arm nowhere, but still,
like I don't even think that was acceptable twenty years ago.
So that was a big whoopsies.
Speaker 4 (26:47):
That's interesting.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
Yeah, that came out of nowhere. To me, that was like, oh.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
Yeah, there was no like lead up to it.
Speaker 2 (26:55):
No, yeah, no, it wasn't like the culmination of a
bit or anything. No, it just it just comes right
out of the side.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (27:03):
Oh no, okay, Well we could have just skipped that.
It doesn't agree what the movie.
Speaker 4 (27:08):
We don't miss it anything, right.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
But I'm just like, it's surprising because you know, we
watch a lot of these comedies and they say a
lot of really offensive things that you can't say no,
but this one wasn't acceptable back then.
Speaker 2 (27:20):
Either, so it was very Yeah, it's strange.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
That they kept that in, but that's really my only
my only critique.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
So yeah, hot tick box, what you got, buddy.
Speaker 4 (27:35):
Heat box with the hot take.
Speaker 2 (27:39):
This is my second time watching this movie. I saw
it when it came out. I don't remember when, but
I liked it a lot. Twenty years I actually liked
it slightly less this time.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
Interesting.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
The the slovenly best friend character. He just grates on
me so badly, and he's supposed to, so they're doing
a great job. I'm supposed to not like this guy
or whatever. He's likable, but he sucks. It's his character, right, Uh.
And yeah, the whole thing was good, and I do
(28:09):
really like the movie. But and I do like parodies,
especially where everything like, even though crazy stuff is happening,
everybody sort of has like a ah, you know, we'll
just whatever. Yeah, you know your best friend, you know,
it punches you in the face, whatever you figured out,
blah blah blah. And it's just I like that tone
(28:31):
of just yeah, that's kind of a modern tone, like
a Brooklyn nine to nine, or like a community tone,
or just like, yeah, total. You know, if someone says
something terrible, you're like, yeah, you know, well let's go
get some ice cream, and they're like and they're just
friends anyway. It's like this whole thing. But I do
love that was the first movie that I'd ever seen
where you it was a horror slash comedy. I was like,
(28:52):
you can do that, yeah, and it works really well.
I was like wow. And then like Jordan Peele, you know,
does that a lot now and it's really right, and
so I've seen it more now, but back then I
was like.
Speaker 4 (29:04):
Wow, cool.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Yeah, I don't think I ever saw anything like that
back then. My hottest take is, yeah, I feel like
they made Ed just suck too bad. He doesn't barely
even redeem himself. Really, he just kind of sucks to
the end, which is fine. I don't know it. Oh,
(29:26):
Ed Jesus just a mooch. Yeah, So I guess that's
my hot take.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
Yeah, yeah, I buy that. I like the hot take.
That's funny.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
Well, let's talk about some of these acting performances that
we liked, and let's pick the dude.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
The dude.
Speaker 5 (29:48):
I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, You
know that or his dudeness or duder or you know,
el dude reno, if you're not into the whole brevity thing.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Your favorite acting performance, box man, you know what, I think,
I'm gonna go with Simon Pegg's mom.
Speaker 2 (30:08):
She is awesome. Lton is her name. Sorry, thank you.
My favorite line in the movie is when they're pretending
to be zombies and taking acting lessons from the actor
girl and she goes to her and she's just staring
off into the distance and she's a great, perfect Oh sorry,
dear miles away.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Yeah, that's good.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
You nailed it.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
She's my favorite. All her lines are great, and she's
an interesting character too, Like I don't really know how
to describe her, but she's overly everything's fine, you know,
everything's fine. I don't want to make a big deal
and oh, you know, just brushing everything under the rug,
which is interesting and it kind of explains maybe some
of why the main character Simon.
Speaker 4 (30:58):
Is the way he is.
Speaker 2 (30:59):
He's just kind of just goes I don't know, and
doesn't move on to his life or do anything or
take any risks. He just because his mom just sort
of just went oh no, no no, And so I don't know,
he just sort of became a nothing. Yeah, but yeah,
she crushes crushes heart in that movie.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
She was great, she's great, she was really sweet, and
then you're just like, oh, she actually got bit.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
That's a bummer. She's kind of spooky too, and she
finally when she finally up in the background too, it's awesome.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Yeah, that's a fun one. I'm gonna take the obvious
one and take Simon Peg as Sean.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
I am a big.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
Fan of Simon Peg and I got it gotten into
it much later because I hadn't seen this, But I
just think his humor, his delivery is so funny. And
he had to show off a little bit with some
acting chops there, you know, when he has that heart
to heart with Bill Nye, who I love so much.
(32:00):
I think he actually like cries in the back seat
when everything's all crazy like that was really impressive, and
obviously when he's got to go after his mom too.
Speaker 2 (32:09):
But I just think he's so funny. I'm a big fan. Yeah,
he spends about half the movie crying.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
Yeah it is.
Speaker 2 (32:19):
Yeah, he's good. Yeah, great looking crier.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
Yeah, he's a great crier, that's for sure. Well for
that very reason, if a man spends half a movie crying,
I'm probably gonna love that. Of course, is my guy too.
Kind of all the things you said, Rob, I thought
he was actually really good in this, both as like
doing the emotional parts but then also being sort of
(32:43):
like charismatic and loose the rest of the time. I
think he he walked to that line super super well,
that's really good, and like, I'm with you that when
he's sort of not realizing yet that people are zombies
and it's all happening around him and he's just kind
of hungover and stuff like, that's so great. I love
that so much. And he's perfectly oblivious to all that
(33:06):
and do all the things.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
And that ladies in the backyard and they just think
she's so drunk.
Speaker 4 (33:14):
Wasted.
Speaker 2 (33:15):
Yeah, when he goes to the convenience start and there's
blood hands on the drinks and he doesn't see it,
and he takes a drink and then he goes squeaky
and he like almost slips on what you assume is blood.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
He doesn't notice, and he's like, no change today. I
didn't even have enough to pay the guy. I was
sure whatever. It's like, it's so good, so much. Yeah,
I'll pick that's a good one choice. Nice. Should we
pick up from those smaller parts? Should we pick our
too award we got for this one box?
Speaker 2 (33:54):
You know, I'm gonna go with uh. I can't think
of his character's name. It's the boyfriend and that actually
loves Liz of the other girl, David Dylan. He made
me hate him a lot, which is his job. Again,
he sucks super hard, he did, and he crushes sucking.
(34:15):
He's awesome. He's such a whissy wimp. And when he's
gonna shoot Uger Bro, that's such a cool scene. Like
they didn't have to do that. He's still he already sucked.
But then he does that and you're like, oh my god,
you're the worst. You're the worst. You're you're good.
Speaker 4 (34:36):
Oh yeah, you're fine.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
But it makes it so that you don't care when
you see him get.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
Torn apart at all. Right, yes, guts out, let's see that.
Speaker 4 (34:48):
I also like that. Yes he sucks, yes he's you know,
all these things, but like he is also right about
we gotta get you know, like we have to get
rid of Barbara, like because she's gonna turn and that's
gonna be bad, you know, Like.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
Yeah, but you can be cooler about.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
It one hundred percent. But I just like movies that
aren't just like, you know, black and white in that
way they're like, yeah, well, you know, he's not wrong,
You're just an asshole, you know, like all those things, right,
you know, just like whatever. But I like that.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Yeah, he sucked. That's a good one.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
It was perfectly hatable. That's a great one. I respect it.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
One of my favorite actors out there is Bill Nyi.
He paid Philip he was his step dad, not his
real dad, and uh man, I mean that little monologue
he has explaining how he you know, he wanted uh,
what's Simon Pegg's name in this, Sean, It's Shawn of
(35:50):
the Dead.
Speaker 4 (35:52):
I didn't know you. I didn't I was going to
look it up.
Speaker 3 (35:56):
So he's explaining that he wanted Sean have somebody look
up to, and so he wanted to be an example
for him and just all that, and there's all this
chaos there, you know, driving through zombie land, and like
I got choked up in it, like he was. He's
so good. He's such a tremendous actor, he really is.
(36:18):
So if he's in a movie, I'm probably going to
give him that award.
Speaker 2 (36:21):
So there is nothing of your husband left in that car.
And then he's like and he turns.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
Off, which is such fun.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
I love that little like that's a twist on the
zombie thing that we don't see a lot either, Like
they're still good for some things and like, you know,
like like at the end when they're pushing cards, they're
talking about like, oh, they're great for service jobs and
you know, hanging out and all that. I think that's
kind of fun. Love that. I like that rape spall
(36:53):
guy a lot. He's not in it very much, but
he's yeah, but he has been in other stuff since,
which is really fun. And he was good. I mean
it was fun. I forgot that. He They also show
him at the end again he's one of those zombies
who like is still working a job or something. I
think he's a cart guy or something. But I just
(37:15):
thought that was fun. I liked that guy. And then
Lucy Davis. I liked Lucy Davis a lot.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
She's great.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
I can't not think of the office when I see her.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
That the British one, right, she was also a wonder
woman and she was so fun and was like the
sidekick lady. Yeah, but I liked her a lot.
Speaker 3 (37:34):
It's been bad for her though, because she's still with
that guy and knows that he loves her friend like
what it's.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
Doing, and she loves Sean. I'm pretty sure. Yeah, so
this seems like the case.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
Yeah, yeah, I'm with you on that. And Nick Frost,
I'm with you. Like that character sucks, but he's.
Speaker 2 (37:56):
Really so funny.
Speaker 4 (37:59):
He's always just so great. I love him.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
Yeah, kind of a walter to the dude. Yes, no
one can piss off Sean like Ed Cannon whatever. Yeah,
he's They.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
Clearly love each other. I mean it's it's fun. I
like that.
Speaker 2 (38:15):
Yeah, when he gets some a beer and they shoots
him that look crazy. Yes, you guys like gay lovers.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
No, but I mean like, thanks, that's so funny. That
packed me up so hard by.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
I love that. Yeah. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (38:38):
There was other people, but no one else looks stood.
Speaker 2 (38:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
I mean Liz was cute. Kate Ashfield is her name.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
Yeah, she was fine.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
She didn't get to do a lot, she was okay.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
She wasn't progress or arc or anything. Really.
Speaker 6 (38:53):
Yeah, I mean she was fed up with with him
in the beginning that he you know isn't motivated at
all and realizes that she needs to break up with them,
and then sees that he takes some initiatives and then
switches things up.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
So a little bit, but I thought she was fine.
I thought it was fun seeing Martin Freeman.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
For like two seconds.
Speaker 3 (39:13):
That was I forgot about that scene, so that was
fun too. And then his roommate who's fed up with
Nick Frost. I've seen him in other things. His name
is Peter Sarah Finnowitz. Yeah, and he was good.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
He was.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
In the John Wick movies Sweet the Guns and he's
like something for dessert.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
I love that. I was picturing him in a comedy.
I think it was a Melissa McCarthy one. It was
either Spy or The Heat. I can't remember. But anyways,
Peter Sarah Finowitz.
Speaker 2 (39:58):
I think it's spy too. I think he's also the
voice of Darth Maul.
Speaker 4 (40:04):
I really quote me on that, don't quote he might be.
He has a cool voice.
Speaker 2 (40:09):
He does, he does.
Speaker 4 (40:11):
He was also in a Marvel movie, but I don't
remember what. Oh, Guardians of the Galaxy.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
That's right, right, he's done it. He's done a couple
of things.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
Yeah, he's good. He's been around.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
Here's fun.
Speaker 2 (40:22):
I like him. Ye.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
All right, Well, let's let's talk about our favorite scene
in this film. Let's choose the dingus is quite simple, really, dingus, dingus.
Speaker 2 (40:35):
I could talk about my dingas all night long.
Speaker 1 (40:37):
I'm gonna kiss.
Speaker 3 (40:38):
What's your favorite scene?
Speaker 2 (40:41):
My favorite scene?
Speaker 4 (40:43):
Man? I found that kind of hard in this one.
Speaker 2 (40:46):
Yeah, they're all very similar kinda. I do like the
beginning where everybody is not zombies yet but they kind
of are because their lives suck. You know, are on
the bus staring ahead, and they're all on the street
just kind of walking.
Speaker 3 (41:05):
And like the opening credits to where they're kind of like, yeah, dude,
that was fun.
Speaker 2 (41:10):
Yeah, And Simon is oblivious. He lives in his own world.
He doesn't even look anyone in the eyes, you know,
he just looks at the ground on as he walks
because he he doesn't like his life either, so he
just kind of goes about it. And then yeah, that's
brilliantly done. How why you know, you're like, what an idiot?
But at the same time, it's like, why would he notice,
like everybody around is kind of dead on the inside, right, Yeah,
(41:33):
and he doesn't care and he's just like whatever, and
he just goes back to his apartments smoke weed and
play video games somewhere, and you're like, you know what,
that's really cool how they did that. Yeah, so probably
those that kind of transition there before it happens. Even
it's like already a zombie movie in a weird way, right.
Speaker 4 (41:51):
Yeah, I like that a lot.
Speaker 3 (41:52):
Yeah, for sure. I definitely picked that that I mentioned
in my odd take, But just the the walk from
his apartment to the store or that the two times.
I think that's my favorite because I'm a sucker.
Speaker 4 (42:05):
For one shot. I love a one shot.
Speaker 3 (42:08):
If I had to runner up, I think is the
queen fighting scene with Don't Stop Me Now, and they're
just hitting the dude with pool cues like in the rhythm.
Speaker 4 (42:20):
Yes, really fun look.
Speaker 3 (42:24):
But just over and over and Edgar Wright like, I
think that's the beginning of that because like he perfects
that in Baby Driver, oh yeah, where he uses the
music to accentuate what's happening, like on the beat, and
it's so cool in Baby Driver.
Speaker 4 (42:43):
Have you ever seen Baby Driver box?
Speaker 2 (42:45):
It is cool.
Speaker 4 (42:47):
It's so cool. I think you would really like that
movie because it's a it's a vibe too. It's really
it's an interesting movie.
Speaker 2 (42:53):
It's fun, but I thought that was entertaining.
Speaker 4 (42:56):
I like that. Yeah, yeah, I love that, love that well.
I think it's a queen, a queen sleep clean sweep
for easy for me to say for that first those
first scenes where he's walking back and forth from the
little bodega place, because I have that too. I love that.
(43:17):
I also love the background stuff we hear in that,
Like we hear about the spaceship that came back into
the atmosphere early, we hear about like the news stories
talking about people being sick. We hear you know, we
see like the the army trucks drive by and stuff like.
So they're really ratcheting it up the whole time in
(43:37):
the background, which I love stuff like that. I think
that's really fun.
Speaker 2 (43:40):
Or the channel change scene where it's like people, yes,
love all.
Speaker 4 (43:46):
I love all that so fun and it's so effective
for like world building to to do it that way
and let us in on it kind of before he's
in on it. So I really really love those scenes
a lot. I think they're really great. But yeah, to
say another one, the one that you mentioned wore, they
run into the group of people who is the same
(44:06):
as them, you know, in the alleyway. I think that's
just really I just really loved that, and it's so
dumb and great, but it's just like this alternate universe
of them, you know, but they meet and then it
actually does pay off at the end. I really liked
that scene in general.
Speaker 2 (44:22):
Yeah, that was fun.
Speaker 4 (44:23):
Fun for sure to have that and just kind of
be like, oh cool, okay, well good luck, you know.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
And then they do that one shot where they all
walk past each other the same person.
Speaker 4 (44:34):
It's like two Scooby Doo gangs.
Speaker 2 (44:36):
Like you know, there's a Seinfeld episode where that happens too.
Speaker 4 (44:41):
That's right, that's right, good call. They're like beckoning her
to come in, but they're like super nice sorrow.
Speaker 3 (44:48):
Gangs, and like Jeremy Piven was George's character, that's right.
Speaker 7 (44:52):
Yeah, yeah, that's a funny.
Speaker 4 (44:56):
That's a funny episode. But I liked that scene.
Speaker 2 (44:58):
Yeah, that's super fun.
Speaker 4 (45:00):
But yeah, that just the trudging back and forth and
like the you know, he's like you about fifteen p
and then it's like I didn't even have enough to
give that guy, you know. Meanwhile, they're also oh, the
one shot you're talking about.
Speaker 5 (45:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:14):
Yeah. Another another scene that's fun is when they're doing
the shortcut to the Winchester and the fence, like he
jumps over the fence. So that's like a repeating thing.
So in all three of this film, Hot Fuzz and
The World's End they do that.
Speaker 2 (45:33):
Bit going through really that backyards with the fences and
that I didn't know that, which is kind of fun.
Speaker 3 (45:41):
And the only other one I wrote down was just
one that I already mentioned, the Bill ny emotional send
off in the Batley.
Speaker 2 (45:48):
I thought that was a great scene. That's a super
good I think when they show where Sean works and
he's got a clipboard, he's giving a little speech and
then they cut to everybody else who's like fifteen years old,
and they just don't respect him. And he's not even
actually their boss. He's the senior Yeah, like little boy
worker there. Yeah, he's like, come on, guys, come on,
(46:09):
he's just such a loser.
Speaker 4 (46:12):
So good. Yeah, I do love that.
Speaker 2 (46:16):
Nice. Well, yeah, we love that that one shot.
Speaker 3 (46:20):
That's great.
Speaker 2 (46:21):
But let's lets keep moving.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
We've done some quotes already, but there's still some more
we can talk about.
Speaker 4 (46:27):
Let's let's go to show me the money, Show me
the money.
Speaker 1 (46:33):
Show me, show me the money.
Speaker 4 (46:39):
What do you got for a quote box?
Speaker 2 (46:41):
Oh? You go first this time?
Speaker 3 (46:43):
Okay, you go first, buddy, Okay, a lot of pressure.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
Let's see it. I love the mom.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
Have you been bitten?
Speaker 4 (46:53):
Well no, but but Philip pass Oh okay. Yeah. Then
he comes over and he's like, oh my god, has
she been bitten? And he's like, no, but Philip has,
and he goes, oh okay. Yeah, they're both just fine
with it. I love.
Speaker 3 (47:06):
I love when they're on the phone and she says
that Philip's been bitten and then he like puts his
hand over the receiver.
Speaker 2 (47:12):
He's like, we might have to kill my stepdad.
Speaker 4 (47:15):
To kill okay, yeah, so good. Yeah. I love that
whole thing. And then he's they're talking about why he
likes it, and he's like it's him in his roommate
and he's like, what because he can imitate in orang attack,
Well a doodle doo And he says doodle do a
couple of times and I really thought.
Speaker 2 (47:32):
That was one. I like that too, Fuck a doodle do?
Speaker 4 (47:35):
Is it really? That's a good one.
Speaker 3 (47:37):
That's a fun swear.
Speaker 4 (47:38):
Yeah, that's a fun one and a fun swear rop
you want to say a couple sure.
Speaker 3 (47:44):
I like the scene that Box was talking about when
he's talking to his co workers, like as mister Sloan
always says, there's no I in team, but there is
an iron pie and there's an eye.
Speaker 2 (47:56):
In meat pie.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
Anagram of meat is team.
Speaker 2 (48:00):
I don't know what he's talking about.
Speaker 4 (48:05):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
Yeah, that was funny.
Speaker 4 (48:08):
That's really good. I like, yeah.
Speaker 2 (48:11):
I like when Sean's like, I'm gonna go check and
see him in the zombies are and he goes and
climbs up that little kid slide but they don't they
don't follow him, and just see his little dumb feet
go up there, comes right back down.
Speaker 4 (48:22):
How was he? It's not good. There's a lot.
Speaker 2 (48:27):
He was about to cry.
Speaker 4 (48:28):
I did love that. That's really good. I stopped doing
them when you stop laughing.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
Yeah, and the thanks Babe, I definitely wrote that one down.
Speaker 3 (48:40):
I loved the thankscape so much, the repeated line that
you've got read on you and then.
Speaker 2 (48:45):
He's just coming blood. Later that when she's breaking up
with him and he's like no's like no, and eventually
she's like, well, I don't know what what do you
want to do? Go to the Winchester. He's like, do
you want to?
Speaker 4 (48:59):
She's like no, I don't, damn it, man.
Speaker 3 (49:02):
How are you listening to me?
Speaker 2 (49:05):
He gets excited for one little Yeah.
Speaker 3 (49:09):
There was one thing that I didn't really catch that
I thought was funnier written down.
Speaker 2 (49:15):
But it's just.
Speaker 3 (49:17):
It was earlier on and I loved how they filmed
it too. When they're kind of having their spat and
she's like, it's just with Ed here, it's no wonder.
I was always bring my flat mates out. And then
that only exacerbates things. He's like, what do you mean.
He's like, well, you guys hardly get on, do you.
It's like he's like, no, what does exacerbate me? She's like,
it means to make things worse. It's like, right, well,
(49:40):
I mean, it's it's not that I don't like David
and die And then he looks over and he's like, guys,
it's not that I don't like you. I just do
that with both of them.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
Like love that.
Speaker 3 (49:51):
But then later on I didn't even catch this, but
Sean is like, look, I don't care what the tell
He says, all right, we have to get out of here.
We don't, they'll tear us to pieces, and that is
really going to exacerbate things for all of us. Yeah,
because he just learned.
Speaker 4 (50:10):
What it's like, I got it, I can do it.
Speaker 3 (50:13):
I'm using it in a sentence now, So funny.
Speaker 2 (50:17):
That is brilliant.
Speaker 4 (50:20):
Yeah, that's really great.
Speaker 2 (50:21):
The last thing Ed says is Liz says goodbye, I
love you, and Ned says cheers, and Sean says I
love you two men, and Ed goes gay. Yeah, that's
pretty good.
Speaker 3 (50:38):
Yeah, he also said it was gay when when he
was talking about how much he loved Liz, He's like.
Speaker 4 (50:46):
It's a bit gay or whatever. It's like, come on,
that's really great. Also, when Ed is giving him the
phone messages and he's like, well, your mom rang about
going your mom rang about going around tomorrow night, and
then Liz rang about the two of you eating out tonight,
and then your mom rang back to see if I
(51:07):
wanted to eat her out tonight, and he's like kind
of got yeah, and then later he's like, what wasn't
true about your mom? Was really funny?
Speaker 2 (51:18):
Yeah, I love the jokey, Like, what's his big plan?
Sitting in the dark eating peanuts? Then like two minutes
later they're all just silently in the dark.
Speaker 4 (51:29):
Yeah, peanut peanuts, want a Peanuts one?
Speaker 2 (51:35):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (51:36):
The last one that I wrote down is I loved
Ed and Barbara's thing.
Speaker 2 (51:39):
But Barbara says.
Speaker 3 (51:41):
My, how you've grown, and Ed says, yeah, you'd better
believe it.
Speaker 2 (51:44):
It's really great.
Speaker 4 (51:52):
Shut up at maybe laugh. Yeah, that's really wonderful. That
was like all the ones I wrote down ames the
like came down really they came out too quickly or something.
Speaker 3 (52:04):
They were quick, and a lot of it was just
the delivery visual.
Speaker 4 (52:09):
Yeah, so totally nice.
Speaker 3 (52:13):
Well, why don't we move on to bugs boohoo moments only.
Speaker 2 (52:16):
Crying game.
Speaker 4 (52:20):
Ry.
Speaker 2 (52:23):
That's really good, big.
Speaker 3 (52:29):
I picked two of those that was I think it
might only be one, but I picked two. When Philip
is explaining how he wanted Sean to have someone to
look up to, that bit that I've talked about three times.
Speaker 4 (52:42):
So I really liked that, But it didn't get me
to cry.
Speaker 1 (52:46):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (52:46):
I know, it isn't that weird. I remember thinking at
the time, I was like, oh, so, I guess we're
just devoidable feeling.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
Now I fel like I don't even know you anymore.
I just dust comes out now.
Speaker 4 (52:57):
Yeah, I guess I've cried my final here.
Speaker 2 (53:02):
I think I think you cried when he had to
kill his mom, though I didn't.
Speaker 4 (53:06):
Yeah, Yeah, for sure I was.
Speaker 3 (53:08):
I was more sweet the Bill ninety bit.
Speaker 4 (53:12):
I get that, but get that. I did think that
was sweet. There was a lot of other crazy stuff
happening though there.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
Yeah, do you think there's a crying bit thereabout? Yeah,
what about when they're gonna use the last two bullets
on each other?
Speaker 4 (53:26):
Did that get you? No? It didn't. It didn't. Heart
of Stone, Heart of Stone. I did like that part
though many how many? It was like we could probably
line a few of them up.
Speaker 2 (53:40):
Yeah, he's such a bad shot bullets and he sucks
so hard.
Speaker 4 (53:46):
Why did we let him shoot? He's so bad at it.
Speaker 2 (53:48):
It was probably like four hundred zombies, so you can
do twenty nine bullets.
Speaker 4 (53:52):
Like just put it up to their head and then
shoot pretty much.
Speaker 3 (53:56):
I just felt like it felt kind of like a
low budget and I think if you would have actually
gotten all those zombies and all the makeup you'd have
to do over it. Oh, it's kind of what it
felt like. Yeah, they made him a badge. I think
that's a good point.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
Yeah, I love that. Actually, they really only have like
three scenes, right, there's like the house, the store, and
the Winchester Bar.
Speaker 4 (54:20):
That's kind of it.
Speaker 2 (54:21):
Yeah, so I think I think you might be right
about that budget.
Speaker 4 (54:24):
Yeah, that's smart like that. I like that. But yeah,
it was just that one, just the one, the one
for this one.
Speaker 3 (54:30):
Okay, all right, a movie with zero oh yeah, quite
actually yeah, quite a few comedies Broe comedies.
Speaker 4 (54:39):
M Yeah, there's also been a number of movies with
more than that, so many more, so many more.
Speaker 2 (54:47):
We got into fifties fifties during The Lord of the Rings. Yeah,
fifty to fifty cries.
Speaker 4 (54:52):
To be fair. I like those movies a lot, and
they're like six hours long.
Speaker 2 (54:57):
They are long, they're true, a lot.
Speaker 4 (54:59):
Of time for crying. We got to do the math here.
That's you know, six six hours of three minutes, I
think is what we figured out. At the time. It
was a lot.
Speaker 2 (55:10):
I like it was the opening score. I was like, oh,
buckle up, the world is changing movie.
Speaker 4 (55:24):
It's not far off, and I don't like how true
it is. Let's go in a little bit of movie trivia. Now,
the man is a master.
Speaker 2 (55:35):
Master at the transfer, the transition.
Speaker 4 (55:38):
Let's see here, that's the word there. It is George A. Ramero,
creator of the movies to which this movie pays a
lot of homage to, and also lampoons this says, which
is fun, was so impressed with Simon Peg and Edgar
Writ's work that he asked them to do a cameo
in Land of the Dead as zombies. Nice to them,
(56:02):
you know, they clearly like these movies to get asked them.
Speaker 2 (56:05):
You know, I would love to be a zombie in
a movie, just in the background. It is so fun,
so fun, hang out with all the other zombies, lunch
at the camp, you know, and then you go out there.
Speaker 4 (56:14):
And got lot to make up. Fun. But it would
be fun.
Speaker 2 (56:18):
Yeah, I don't get shot and fall down. Be great,
that would be I would love it. Yeah, that would
be amazing. I would like that too.
Speaker 4 (56:26):
Let's see. When asked by an interview why they chose
to have slow zombie or slow moving zombies instead of
running zombies, Simon Peg simply replied, because death is not
an energy drink. That was a pretty fun.
Speaker 2 (56:39):
I mean, the slow zombie is like that's what you're
used to, you know.
Speaker 3 (56:43):
It was World War z That was like, we're gonna
have crazy fast zombies.
Speaker 4 (56:48):
What I think twenty eight days later they were pretty
fast too.
Speaker 2 (56:50):
I think, oh, yeah, they're terrifying and there's nothing funny
about that. Slow zombies is funny. Yeah, you can go
they make fun of them as they come at you
or whatever.
Speaker 4 (56:59):
Yeah, yeah, they're too terrifying. Otherwise, well you're right worldwide.
Uh this Sewn and Ed's friendship is based off of
when Simon Peg and Nick Frost actually shared a flat together.
So I thought that was kind of fun. I thought
this was neat all. The news readers and the like
television presenters are real people portraying themselves, so I thought
(57:22):
was pretty cool. That makes sense. They seemed yeah, they
seemed legitimate, like yeah, one hundred percent.
Speaker 2 (57:29):
I just thought that was fun.
Speaker 4 (57:31):
The the name John and Bernie are the real names
of the landlord and landlady who run Simon Pegg's local pub,
The Shepherds and the Highgate, and John apparently actually used
to make them toasted sandwiches for the regulars, Hence the
reference to the the brevel outside are the brevel out back.
(57:53):
When they're talking about oh he'll make you toasty, you
know that whole bit and stuff and totaling is super funny.
So that was just an homage to them, to their
actual local pubs. I feel like I feel like that's
something the English do really right, like a local pub pubs.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
Oh yeah, yeah, they're they're great fun.
Speaker 4 (58:13):
It's fun.
Speaker 2 (58:14):
I almost have one by my house, the Chatterbox.
Speaker 4 (58:17):
Oh yeah, that's true. It is very puppy.
Speaker 2 (58:20):
Yeah, it is the oldest speakeasy in the state, apparently,
is it really?
Speaker 4 (58:24):
That's what they say.
Speaker 3 (58:25):
Isn't that where didn't they have like the board games
and stuff too?
Speaker 2 (58:29):
Like that, they have Nintendo's hooked up. It's usually karaoke
going in the room. Yeah, it's very sixties and funky
in there. And you can tell how it's like half
of it and then there was another hidden half. It's
pretty cool. That's cool.
Speaker 4 (58:40):
That is wild.
Speaker 2 (58:41):
I haven't been there in a long time.
Speaker 4 (58:44):
Indeed, it's a good place. Good just good place. Let's see,
just when Sean is exiting the corner shop, which is
tuned to a radio station playing songs from Indian movies,
the song stops and the news newscaster begins speaking in Hindi,
and the content of that news when translated is people
are waking up from their graves. So he didn't you
(59:05):
know even in that they were immersing people, which is fun.
Speaker 2 (59:09):
Yeah, that is what it said.
Speaker 4 (59:10):
I remember that. Yeah, Rob Big Hindi guy Nick Frost
allegedly kept his genitals shaved throughout the production to create
a genuine need to scratch that the character demanded.
Speaker 3 (59:23):
That was the only trivia that I wrote down because
I thought that was so ridiculous, that.
Speaker 4 (59:27):
That very method apparently, when it comes to that is
so dumb. He does do it a number of times
during the film. Edgar Write's own mother called him Pickle,
so that's a reference to his mom when she calls
him pickle. And I think that's very cute, Like that's nice.
(59:50):
Liked it a lot. Let's see. According to the DVD commentary,
when ed attempts to cheer Sean up at the Winchester
with plans of binge drink the next day, he's actually
summarizing the events of the next day entirely in drinking references.
So bloody Mary references the checkout girl in the back garden.
(01:00:10):
Bite at the King's Head is Philip. There's a couple
David and Die little princesses Liz Stanker back is when
they impersonate zombies and then barfer shots references firing the
rifle at the Winchester. Wow, I thought that was kind
of cool.
Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
That is cool.
Speaker 4 (01:00:29):
I never would have realized that. Obviously, you got to
watch this number of times. I would guess to do that.
But that's really fun. Let's see. Even though according to
the zombo meter feature stating that that Diane dies, the
DVD's animated special feature plot holes what happened to Diane
(01:00:54):
when she left the Winchester. It explains that Diane actually
does make it through the crowd of zombies. She climbs
a tree, she passes out. She is awakened to utter
silence and out of fear. She stays in the tree
for days, surviving on David's severed leg, and eventually goes
to live with an aunt and she remains to this
(01:01:15):
day in quote unquote Christmas card contact with Sean and Liz.
Speaker 2 (01:01:22):
Wow, I thought that was real, silly and fun.
Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
So I liked that. And also on the DVD, what
happened to Sean when he ran off? Basically Simon Peg
explains that he was able to exit and re enter
simply by staying ahead of the undead, because contrary to
modern theories, the undead are very slow. And this is
a joke aimed at the movies that we referenced where
(01:01:51):
the zombies were fast, you know, they were fast, And
he was like, no, they're gonna limp and you know,
walk around all slow. So he just out random, Yeah,
I guess, which is kind of fun. So but that
was all the tributa I had. There wasn't a whole
lot out there for this one.
Speaker 3 (01:02:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
That was more than I saw.
Speaker 4 (01:02:12):
So nice.
Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
All right, well cool? Will there be a sequel? Judgment day?
Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
I guess one thing I saw.
Speaker 3 (01:02:22):
Simon Peg and Edgar Wright considered a sequel that would
replace zombies with another monster, but decided against it as
they were pleased with this movie as a standalone product
and thought too many characters died.
Speaker 2 (01:02:33):
To continue the story.
Speaker 3 (01:02:35):
The proposed title was from Dusk Till Sean.
Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
Which I like, perfect a lot.
Speaker 4 (01:02:43):
The title, and they were like, should we make this.
Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
Just for the title alone? You know, at least make
it like a like a short film or something.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
Totally these days they do like a sequel like forty
years later. Yeah, So like Beatle just bed just just
came out, So that's true.
Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
I think that was I think thirty six for Top
Gun and Top.
Speaker 4 (01:03:05):
Gun Maverick so totally nice.
Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
That's so crazy, it's ridiculous. So it could happen. I'd
watch it. Maybe they turn into fastobies now oh no,
oh no, slipping on banana piels and stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:03:20):
Wheah.
Speaker 3 (01:03:23):
Well, that was a lot of fun. Do you guys
want to play a game?
Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
I did a starting five and for what I'm gonna
do here, I'm gonna name my five favorite actors from
a particular film. When you know the film, you're going
to ring in with your name.
Speaker 2 (01:03:38):
So I know he's ringing in, is going to demolish men.
He's going to do pretty good on this.
Speaker 4 (01:03:44):
You never know.
Speaker 3 (01:03:45):
But if you get if you get the movie wrong,
no negative points, you just won't be able to guess
again for that movie.
Speaker 2 (01:03:53):
If if their.
Speaker 3 (01:03:54):
Actors' names remaining, you can guess the actors that I
would have picked for more points. Uh, and the other
person can steal if you get any of those wrong.
And all of these films have something in common. When
you know the theme, you can ring it at any
time for a.
Speaker 4 (01:04:09):
Point hmm nice.
Speaker 3 (01:04:11):
Are we good?

Speaker 3 (01:06:24):
Dead is in the title?
Speaker 4 (01:06:26):

Hell yeah, I'm all about one goal game.
Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
Well consider this one goal game.
Speaker 2 (01:07:21):
I love it. Yeah, and honestly it gets hard. Gets
hard now. So number four.
Speaker 3 (01:07:29):
First name is Stellan scars Guard. The second name is
uh Philip in this movie Bill Nye, the science guy.
Speaker 2 (01:07:42):

Speaker 3 (01:07:58):

that is one that is the Pirates of the Caribbean.
I picked the other.
Speaker 2 (01:08:06):
Dead one marks which sucks.
Speaker 4 (01:08:11):
Chest?
Speaker 2 (01:08:11):
Dead man's chest?
Speaker 4 (01:08:15):
