Thank you. I always tell everybody I know. Do you
really Yeah? They're like, who are you, sir? We've never met.

(01:02):
This is a wendy sir, Get out of here. I'm
actually getting over a sickness because that's what we do
over here. Weird. What is it this time? I got strap?
Immediately after having strap wait literally yes, no, I got
done with my round of a mock sicilan And two

(01:27):
days later, in the middle of the night, well two
nights later, I wake up and I'm like I can
barely swallow my spit. It hurts so much. I'm like,
what is happening? Sure enough, I go the next day
have strap. I'm like, nobody else has a strap in
my family, So I have no idea how I got

(01:47):
it a second time.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
I'm not gonna lie to you. I thought we just
had not talked about it on the pod maybe and
like you were bringing it up and I was, but
you were like, no, it's again. It's again, dude, that's
so well something you guys like, do you guys wash
your hands?

Speaker 1 (02:05):
I was gonna say, I need to just really focus
on that more because I get six so much. It's really,
I'm telling you, it's super duper duper annoying. So it's
been beautiful here. Yeah, And like yesterday I just was
I just felt oh body, and so it's been annoying.

(02:26):
But I'm feeling better today. Good. Glad to hear it.
Glad to hear it. Things are good. How are you doing?

Speaker 3 (02:32):
I'm good man For anybody wondering, it's a cool seventy
degrees here in Minneapolis, Minnesota, welcome.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Yeah. I just took Penny for a walk. It was
it was really nice.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
It's really great. The apple tree outside my place. I
have like one right next to my window, and it
is blooming right now. And it's other than making me
sniffle a bunch, it is great. It's so pretty, it
smells so good.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
It's wonderful. That's nice.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Yeah, And we like really went hard summer for a
day or two.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
It's been really nice, dude. And yeah, the trees, the
trees are poppen, all those cherry blossoms, so just so beautiful,
so great fan.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Yeah, and I get to go to Portland this weekend,
so I'm super excited the Land of port Yeah, just
to hang with the crew and eat some food, you know,
talk smart.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
It's gonna be great. That'd be really fun. Yeah, yeah,
it should be wonderful. Nice. Have you Syrup and watching
any films lately? I have? I decided to go to
the theater and check out a movie that you talked
about recently, tell me everything. I went and saw The
Accountant Dose, so lovely. What did you think? I thought

(03:40):
it was an okay sequel. Yeah, maybe it was worth
checking out. It was a little different vibe. It was
worth checking out. It also didn't like blow my mind,
but it was pretty good. I'll give it right. Like
I had a good time. Yeah, I felt like it
went on a little longer than it needed. It could
have also been the ten thirty Am showtime. I got

(04:04):
a little sleepy, sure sure in it. But yeah, I
also kind of felt like Ben Affleck put a voice
on that I didn't remember from the first one. I
felt like he was kind of trying to took like
this almost and I was just like, I don't remember
him doing that really at all. That's interesting.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
He was definitely more like animated and trying to be
like funny and stuff in this one.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Yeah, it's interesting. I found him to be a little
more distracting in this one, where I didn't feel that
way at all in the first one. But I love
that John Bernthal got featured so much more on this one.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
And their relationship is so fun. Those guy's such some
good chemistry together. It's really fun.

Speaker 1 (04:48):
I like it. John Berthel is a blast. I'm just
afraid he's such like a force of nature and like
you just you just feel like he's just that's dude.
He was. He was worth going to the theater for.
I probably would wait for this one on streaming. I
wanted just because it seemed like there's more action I
was like, all right, I'll go to the theater and

(05:08):
see it, and it was okay, Yeah, it's pretty fun.
That's where I'm at. Nice. How about you, what was
the last movie you watched.

Speaker 3 (05:17):
I saw perhaps my favorite movie of the year that
I don't know if it's gonna get overtaken. I saw
Sinners and.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
I want to see it so bad.

Speaker 3 (05:27):
So I was hoping you had seen it. But if
you were not feeling great, totally understandable.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
No, I haven't seen it.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
I don't want to talk too much about it because
it's a super interesting movie to be in on, so I.

Speaker 1 (05:40):
Don't know anything about that.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
It's all I'm gonna say. It's really great. The cast
is awesome. It's just super super fun. This is Ryan
Coogler's first film that he wrote as well as directed,
and man, he should be.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
So proud of it.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
It's such a it's just so great. It's wonderful. I
think we're going to get Oscar noms out of this,
despite it coming out so early in the year.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
It's going to be It's huge. It's so so good.
I love it so much. It's nice. Yeah, I know
we had talked about doing that. This weekend, and this
weekend I ended up having to take care of the
kids totally. I was supposed to go to my folks
place because Kelsey had a bunch of girls here. I
was supposed to go to my folks place. They got sick,

(06:29):
so I was like, well, I don't want to get sick,
so I don't want the kids to get sick, so
we're gonna go. So I just like entertained them, like
all day long.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
We stayed at a hotel which was really nice, like
a little staycation weekend.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
We had a little staycation. I had some extra points,
so it wasn't like I was spending a ton of money.
And yeah, it was a great day. But but I
was hoping to movie. Yeah, so I didn't get to
see that yet. I am going to see that one. Dude.

Speaker 3 (06:58):
You're gonna love it and see it in the theater
if you can. I assume it's still although no.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
It'll still be still in there. Okay, Oh yeah, yeah
it's It was the number two grossing movie this.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
Oh yeah, you're right, you're right, and I think it
was number one the weekend before, right.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Yeah, before the movie we're going to talk about.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
Yeah, but yes, it's wonderful. It's I think it's my
favorite thing I've ever seen.

Speaker 1 (07:26):
Oh, Michael Jordan, Yes, Michael B.

Speaker 3 (07:28):
Jordan's and that includes Black Panther, which you know I
really enjoy.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, it's just really really great. Everybody
should go watch it. It is Uh, if you.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Don't like violence, you might want to stay away because
it's it is that. But I'm not saying anything else
about it.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
I liked it. It was fun. I hope I didn't
raise your expectations too high. I mean, I've seen everything.
It's like everybody else is. Yeah, okay, rotten tomatoes. So yeah,
I'm expecting to be good. I gave an on my
voting on imp is a Tale. She's a damn. Have
you been streaming anything though?

Speaker 4 (08:07):
I have.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
I have a lot of shows running right now. It's
a lot. Oh my goodness. There's there's so much to
keep keep up with. It's true, but yesterday I got
caught up on the latest episode of the Last of
Us and I don't think that I've talked about it
for this season yet. Nice.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Yeah, i think I'm one behind now, but I'm.

Speaker 1 (08:30):
Also mostly caught up. Yeah, this season has been crazy,
especially the second episode B some big stuff went down
pretty wild. But this show is so well made. The
effects are crazy, the acting is great. We got Catherine
O'Hare this season, so that's a big plus, never a

(08:50):
bad thing. They introduced Caitlin Deaver, who's wonderful. This fourth
episode they introduced Jeffrey Wright and that's incredible. Really Oh yeah, fun.
It's great that they keep getting these these actors to
come on and even if they don't stay the whole season,
they just crush and then it's perfect, honestly, like so fun.

(09:13):
That's cool. Yeah, so a big, big fan. It's yeah
as good as the first season, and the first season
was incredible. Love it. I think it's a shorter season
as well. It's like seven or eight episodes or something
like that, so I get it. I mean they're all
like at least an hour long.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Makes sense, right, Yeah, there's stuff happening all over the place.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
So yeah, it's COOLNS love it. What about you? Oh
and that's on Max of course? What what are you streaming? Serendipitously,
The Terminator is what I watched and that is also
on Max. The original. Yeah, I watched the original.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
I wasn't the more I thought about it, the more
I was like, have I seen Have I seen the original?

Speaker 1 (09:59):
I don't, I really remember. I certainly hadn't in a
long time, so I watched it. It's it's a good time,
for sure.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
It's kind of amazing to me that, like it's one
of the few movies where I'm like, the sequel is just.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Better, Like it's just so much better.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
It's a better story, it's more fun. It's it's all
the way better, which is impressive. That doesn't happen, you know,
I don't even know if it's ever happened. Otherwise, maybe
Godfather I feel.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Like better than one, but it's not.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Like Godfather one's bad either, And I feel the same
way about The Terminator. It ages a little worse than
the second one, just as far as CGI and stuff,
but it's still it's still a fun movie.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
It's interesting.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
But the whole time, I was just kind of like,
I kind of wish I was watching T two, you.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Know, like I just, well, but remember when this gets
really good, I was like, oh man, that next one
is cool.

Speaker 3 (10:56):
But I didn't realize like a bunch of those lines
were callbacks from the first one, necessarily, and.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Stuff like that, So it was cool.

Speaker 3 (11:02):
It was definitely worth watching and stuff, but I was
definitely It's also hard for me to tell because I
watched T two like when I.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Was a kid, right, so much?

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Is that why I like that one more? But I
think it's actually just objectively a more interesting and fun movie.
It's awesome, That's what I really think. So it's on Max.
Go check it out if you want. It's still a
pretty fun time cool. Yeah, yeah, what do you think
should we do if you plug runs?

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yeah, let's plug it in. Thanks, guess.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Give missus as always over on the Twitter machine where
we're at Avid Indoorsment with a Z.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
I can also go to Facebook dot com slash the
av Endorsement. We are available on Instagram.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
And TikTok at the avon Endorsement there as well, Blue
Sky Threads, all those kind of things. We're all over
the place. But if you really want to hang out
and be part of the crew, it's about to go.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
Patreon dot com slash the Avid Indoorsman. Yeah, it's a
great time on Patreon. I we give our patron a
lot of perks, and one of those is getting a
shout out here let's give it up for Marsha Greasiak,
Mary Fox, Nannett Walkley, Yohm, Brosted, deb Oak, Jackie Houston,
Noel Flores. You guys are wonderful. Thank you. Yeah. And

(12:16):
another perk we like to give our patrons is an
extended version of every single episode that we put out.
We usually do a top five draft that pertains to
the movie we're talking about, and our guest came up
with this topic for this film, our top five anti
heroes draft. Love it, love it.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
I think this is gonna be a good one because
I was having a tough time wrapping my head around it.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
So I feel like I missed some you know what
I mean. It's like I don't know what counts. Yeah.
I feel like you could make an argument for so
many and I'm like, I don't even yeah. Yeah, So
I just put down the ones that I think. It'll
be fun to see what we think for sure.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Yeah, but that will be very fun and we look
forward to that Greg coming attraction. Don't worry about it,
none of your business. It's gonna happen and it's.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Going to be great.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
So we don't have it planned out yet, so be cool, baby,
But it'll be something fun, so look forward to that.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
We are here today for a little Marvel madness. It
is sweeping the nation right now. Dare I say we're back?
D We're back, Baby, We're so back. I'm guessing I'm back,
he says john Wick. John Wick, I'm thinking. I'm thinking

(13:40):
I'm back, That's what he says. Maybe this really matters.
We're here to discuss thunderbolts, thunderbolts.

Speaker 3 (13:50):
And to do that, of course, we had to get
our Marvel comic Nerd here with us.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
Let's give it up for Riley. Is that bad? What's Riley?

Speaker 5 (14:00):
Hey? Fellas, how are you? I'm splendid really good. Actually
I was a little worried earlier. I didn't say this
yet to you guys, but Kens and I had a
plan to like have Margarita's on Sinco de Mayo and
then and then the kiddo's just bedtime was chaos, and
so she she fell asleep and we didn't get to

(14:21):
do our like Margarita plan. So we had Margarita's last
night and watched some some you on Netflix, that show
with Penn Badgeley, Oh yeah, and then one Margarita and
half of a Modello and I woke up with the
most ripping headache.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
Dudes.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
I was like, I'm about to turn Welcome friends, I'm
gonna turn thirty six in like five days or like
eight days. And it's like it just hit me so hard.
I was like liquid ivy, like.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
I broke it just it was like I had one
drink and I'm dying. I got to cancel the podcast.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
Yeah, I got to cancel it. Last time I had
to postpone it because my daughter was born, and this
time I had half of a beer too many. But
now I'm great, great reason I bounced back. I bounced
back today and I'm feeling excited about talking about this movie.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
Oh that's great man. We're so happy to have you
and chat about this. We want to point people towards
sound Fox Music dot Com of course. And then Ken's
has a side project that she's doing. It's called Less of.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
The Girl and recently came out with a collab with
Adam Chance, who people may know maybe.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
You know him too, Rob, I do Okay.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Forest for the Trees, So people should go check that
out right now.

Speaker 5 (15:38):
It's a really beautiful it's a really beautiful song. Yeah,
it's really beautiful and it's I can say with full
confidence that the project that it's a part of as
a whole is phenomenal. So keep your ears to the ground, everybody,
because it's it's amazing and coming out soon.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
And I don't know a delicate way to say this.
You guys are good, right, Like you knew that she
was coming out with the solo projects, you were a
part of it.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
I was like, wait a second, what am I getting
cut out of here?

Speaker 1 (16:08):
No, she just hasn't found out. Yeah what okay? So
now what do I do? Start your own thing and
do more of the guy or the guy? Yeah? Exactly.

Speaker 5 (16:19):
You know, did the joke that we we were joking
so much about that when we first sort of connected
those dots and she came up with that pseudonym and stuff.
It was it was really funny because that that comment
that we got way back in the day that really stung.
It was like the first sort of troll comment and
it was that was it's rude as hell as a

(16:39):
comment on a video, and she sounds amazing on the song.
So it's fully unwarranted. Obviously we made that joke a lot. No,
it's she just has a never ending well of amazing
like songwriting, and some of it doesn't like fit our
our dulo brand as much, and so it was like,
She's it's all the pent up like musical magic that

(17:02):
needs to come out. And so when we have the
time peppering in these little solo songs of hers, you know,
is a it's a really fun thing to be able
to do.

Speaker 1 (17:10):
Yeah, it's wonderful.

Speaker 5 (17:12):
I was just kidding, of course, of course he's okay.

Speaker 1 (17:15):
Silly Billy.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
Well, we're here, guys to talk about the great movie Thunderbolts,
and I'm really excited. So let's just get after it,
and Rob, will you get us started with a rough synopsis, Yes,
ensnared in a death trap, an unconventional team of anti
heroes Yolaena Bolova.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian goes to Taskmaster and John Walker
embarks on a dangerous mission that forces them to confront
their darkest corners of their pasts. O.

Speaker 5 (17:48):
Nice, that's a great synopsis too, because it doesn't give
anything away. It's just as it's really that's effective.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
Also, task Master kind of let's yeah, we'll talked about
that later.

Speaker 5 (17:58):
That's a yeah, And got built so high and it
was just like on every Easter.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
No, I hope that means that actor got more money
because they were built so high. I don't know how
that works, but I hope that's what happened. It's crazy
any whose let's go to rotten tomatoes near what they
have to say critics have. That's coming in at a
pretty rock solid eighty eight percent.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
Okay, that went up since yesterday. Really really, that's fine.
Yesterday just creeping out and doing it. I love it.
And audience members even higher up to ninety four percent. Boom, whoo, weird.
We're bad. We're bad, man.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
It makes me so happy that that's that we're rocking
did nineties and above. It's feeling nostalgic, like the good
old days.

Speaker 3 (18:42):
You know it felt nice? Yeah, it felt nice. Well,
let's go in and talk about what we think. It's
time for our hot take.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Hot take. That's a hot take.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
That's a hot take.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
This room is an incinerator. Nice, and you feel the
rising temperature. You win. It was a great line. That's fine.
I would go first.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
I really really enjoyed this movie. I know we've said
it a couple of times, the We're back. It really
did feel like we had come back to a spot
where they decided on a thematic, the you know, a
point for a movie that they wanted to hit on.
They stuck with it. They fleshed out these characters. The
characters were fun. There was comedy within it, but it

(19:27):
didn't like throw it in your face as much, and
it felt like we covered some deep stuff. I thought
it was very interesting that, you know, like the obviously
the like the theme of depression and mania and bipolar
really seemed to be omnipresent. You know, I'm no authority
on any of those things, but it seemed to be

(19:49):
where we were, where we were leaning, and I thought
that played so well. It kept us from sort of
the like the thing a lot of these superhero movies
run into where it's like and then just big flashy
fight scene happens, and it kept us grounded in like,
you know, these characters who didn't have all the superpowers.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
But they were trying hard.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
They had a lot of gravitas to them and a
lot of ethos just despite some of it being kind
of messed up right, And I really loved it. I
felt like it worked great. The chemistry between them all
was wonderful. I thought the music was like I couldn't
decide if the music.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Was better in this one, like the score, or if
I just liked it better because they were all better,
you know. I couldn't parse those two things out.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
But I loved it a lot. I think it's super
super fun and we love like a flawed character, a
flawed set of characters that you know, come together and
find a way to get through life together. And I
just thought that was such a powerful, powerful message.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
Everyone was wonderful. I loved it. No notes, no, no, wow,
there's probably some notes.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Actually there is one note.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
My first take it back, my first hot take.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
They they gave away the the like after credits, uh,
like the big surprise of it by having the Fantastic
four theme song in the credits.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
I saw that too. I literally was like, well, now
we know what's happening in the final post credit thing
because it says Fantastic four theme on it.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
I was actually like, when the hell did that happen?
And I was like, Oh, it's gonna happen right now.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
Immediately was already looking at my phone. I didn't notice
that at all, So that's great.

Speaker 5 (21:37):
My theater has no cell service. So I was just
like reading every name, I'm like, oh, that's the key Grip. Okay, cool,
and there's a boy good for you by the Basket
Boys boy.

Speaker 1 (21:48):
So that was my hot take on that. An additional
hot take.

Speaker 3 (21:53):
I'm so stoked for where we're going because we at
the end of this I think we have three teams
of events that are have been talked about. So we've
got Sam Wilson's Avengers, We've got these new Avengers as
we find out, and then we were mentioned the the
Young Avengers have been mentioned a couple of times, right, Yeah,
Actually we're all on the West coast in I think

(22:17):
that was a Daredevil thing.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
It's just an off added comment. It's not like a spoiler.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
So yeah, but yeah, I just think that's exciting and
I'm I'm pumped to see where we're going. And I
kind of hope we see at some point different characters
who may have been in New York's like their worst
case scenario, their void memory what do they call it,
the box that they're in or whatever, the room where

(22:42):
they see their worst moment play out, Because like, did
Peter Parker get stuck in this thing while he was
just going around and he had to like watch aunt
May pass away about you know.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
What I mean, But thed swing and he just turned
into a.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Right in the air like he's headed there or something.

Speaker 5 (22:59):
I think Wilson Fisk absolutely and I think.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
They could do, like if they wanted, they could do
a number of side you know, just like little vignettes
of these characters and what they saw.

Speaker 1 (23:10):
And I think that would be really interesting. But overall,
all all joking, I love this movie about yeah, oh yeah,
hot take bro. I had a very similar take. I
also really enjoyed this movie I saw. I was directed
by a guy named Jake Schreier who hasn't done a
ton of movies. He's done a lot of TV. Looked
like he directed all the episodes of that show Beef

(23:32):
on Netflix. I don't know if you guys saw that
with Steven Young and wow, Yeah, I though it was awesome.
But yeah, I thought he did a great job, especially
never working on anything with this kind of budget before.
I'm always impressed with people who can just go right
into a Marvel movie like yes, it's nuts. Eric Pearson
was one of the writers and he helped write Thor

(23:54):
Ragnarok and also Black Widow and you can definitely feel
the connection.

Speaker 5 (23:59):
Black with Black Widow had such amazing dialogue and like
character building, you know, for other things that kind of
lacked in it was stellar with the character building and
that that's obvious in this one.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
Yeah, yeah, I feel the same. I thought the cast
was great. It didn't have like the huge star power
that so many of the Marvel films have. You do
have Florence Pugh and Sebastian Stan, but yeah, I guess
it didn't really need like all those huge names. I
thought it was kind of refreshing. And I also, like
you had said, bugs, it was just cool how he

(24:32):
was having to tackle his own demons and face when
he was tried, like tried pushing away for so long
in order to not have the void takeover. And it
was like the help from his new friends who were
there for him that helped him get through his rough past.
And I thought it was like really cool that they
put this out during Mental Health Awareness month.

Speaker 5 (24:54):
It just felt very really didn't even connect. That's really
that's fitting. Yeah, that's apt.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Yeah, But like you said, I thought it was funny
and touching. I enjoyed the chemistry with most of the characters.
I had higher expectations going into this one because I
thought it looked really good and I thought it met
those expectations, which I have not felt really a lot
with these films in a while, So I was very

(25:20):
excited about that hot take. I loved that Lewis Pullman
plays another character named Bob. Yeah. His stand out performance
was in Top Gun Maverick as another job, So yeah,
that really stuck out to me. I didn't think about that.
That's really great, dude. It's the only other thing that
I've really seen him in. And they really focused on

(25:42):
Bob in Top Gun Maverick. So then it was funny that, yeah, they.

Speaker 5 (25:46):
Really focused on again, okay, Bob like every like right.
It almost becomes a joke within Thunderbolts that they they
keep leaning into the they hit it that Bob, you know,
they really lay it on.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
Yes, So I loved that another hot take. John Walker
does nothing for me, that whole character not into it.
I liked him in this movie. I don't dislike why
at Russell. I think he's pretty good, but just that
character just does nothing for me. Not into it. I

(26:17):
can kind of understand. I don't like it fair though,
sure interesting hot take. Ye all right, Riley, you're.

Speaker 5 (26:26):
Up maybe ye Broskis, I'm not going to reinvent the
wheel heat at all.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
I uh. I loved this.

Speaker 5 (26:33):
Same as you, Rob. I was like, this looks great
going into it. I was like the marketing was phenomenal.
Everything from all the little like tags and teasers. I
thought the trailers were set it up great and didn't
give too much away, left us left some things to
be sort of surprised about. I loved at that award
show where Wyatt Russell was pretending to be thrashed and

(26:55):
they all came down the aisle. Do you guys see that.
I forget which award show it was.

Speaker 1 (27:00):
It was. It was.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
It wasn't like a you know, the Academy Awards and
stuff like that, but it was something.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
It was big enough, and.

Speaker 5 (27:06):
Everybody Julia, Luis Dreyfus, Florence I think that I forget
her name. It plays Task, Passwards, Hannah or Sorry Ghost.
All of them came walking down as a group, and
it was whyat Russell was pretending acting like he was hammered.
I think it was like at a casino and so
he comes in, he's all disheveled and they have to
go present this award. David Harber's there. They're all just

(27:26):
hamming it up, and I was like this, it's giving
me Guardians of the Galaxy vibes, like the camaraderie of
the not just the characters in the movie, but the actors.
So the marketing was amazing and I went in with
high expectations and hopes, and like you said, Rob, it
absolutely met all of them. I was. It really surprised
me just how how well it all worked. There wasn't

(27:49):
like a dull moment in it for me, and they're
surprisingly not a ton of big action sequences, you know,
it was. It was a lot of character building, a
lot of dialogue, a lot of like building, the connection
of these people, the humor obviously, and then the sort
of the heartfelt serious like nature of the of the

(28:12):
story as well. So when those action sequences did come it,
we were like, oh yeah, I'm ready now. But in
between those, I was never bored at The pacing felt great.
I love the acting all around. I think everybody did
a really great job. Obviously the key the key actors
and actresses like Shine the most. I liked a lot

(28:33):
of the choreography for the fighting. I thought that mixed
with really appreciated the cinematography. I'm really critical of that
just having done what we do and what we've done
for so long. The like the Jason Bourne effect that
a lot of movies do where they cut around in
a fight sequence so much that you can't even like
follow what's happening, and it's I feel like they that

(28:54):
technique is used when the fight choreography is less than stellar,
and they make it look like it's more like there's
more going on. It's more fast paced just by cutting
around a lot. In this movie, her very first fight
scene after she comes in on the on the parachute
is like that top down of that hallway and she's
just taken the get and she gets her hallway shot
like Daredevil, and I'm like, this is sick. It just

(29:15):
lingers and you just see every beat and every moment
and then finally when it does cut, it's not too fast,
you know, And that they kept that throughout the whole movie.
I mean, the Sentry fight in the top of the
tower is similar. They don't cut around a ton. It's
like they do when they need to, and they don't
when they don't need to and they just let you
sit with this awesome sequence. I love that and this

(29:35):
movie did that very well and I appreciated that. Yes said,
the pacing felt great, loved the character building, and like
you guys said, the coolest thing was you said it
right away. How they like they picked what they wanted,
the story they wanted to tell, and they did not
They weren't scared to tell it, even though it was

(29:56):
a heavy concept that it ended up sort of like emerging.
You know, you go into it thinking it's going to
be really just it's a lot of goofy characters having
fun and then it's this like really serious topic that
can get really heavy and dark, and they didn't shy
away from it. They leaned into it, utilizing Bob as

(30:17):
this sort of tool to explore the idea, and Yolena too,
but he's like the embodiment of this, like the light
and dark that people whether it's actual like bipolar disease
or whatever it is. It was really cool how they
they really leaned into it. They weren't afraid to talk
about like the dark choices that can come from those

(30:39):
kinds of people who suffer from that kind of thing,
and like you said, I don't, I don't suffer from that.
So it's I sit and I really like feel like
I'm witnessing, you know, taking this in and experiencing it
something that I don't personally deal with. And they they
show it with Lena. They show John's demons a little bit,

(30:59):
you know, like Bucky to an extent, although not quite
as much in this this whole teams experienced trauma and dullness,
and it's this all encompassing kind of like, uh, you
know idea that if you don't have that like connection
and you're this lone wolf facing all this darkness inside you,

(31:21):
like it can it can take over. And I just
thought it was really cool, like uh, Bob again being
this like a really good soul plagued by all this
emotional abuse that he faced that we see later on
his drug abuse again, like talking about being addicted to
meth in a Marvel movie. Like this is this heavy

(31:42):
and it's but it's real, you know, it's real and
genuine and raw, and it's like that's what people in
the real world do go through. And then they literally
show the duality of century and void is such a
powerful tool that they used to show that in like
a tangible way rather than just a com step that
they're talking about depression. It's like, here's this guy embodying

(32:04):
these two sides of such a dark concept. The uh
and void was just I was absolutely floored by, Like
Valentina's kind of she's sort of a villain. Obviously, she's
an antagonist certainly, but like she's not a threat directly
to the team necessarily, and to make Bob both this

(32:26):
like heroic figure and then the absolute antithesis of that
with this terrifying fully like like no light except for
that amazing glint in his eyes as void so scary,
the like shadowifying like ability of just like and just

(32:47):
they're gone. I was like, these are they're just gone?
I didn't before they showed, before they showed the like
dark trauma mind palace that they all were stuck in,
I was like, they're dead for sure. So it was
kind of shocking when Yolena goes into that like willingly
to try and find him and save him, super sinister,
super like scary. And then the whole point comes, you know,

(33:08):
full circle and comes home when everybody, all this whole
team they go in they to face their demons and
help this good soul Bob like conquer his own and
then to see him fighting himself. It was just really cool,
you know. I mean, it's all just such a lovely
metaphor for overcoming that darkness within you and that like ye,

(33:30):
that love and connection with your family or your friends
or your community is what like will really help you
out of something like that. It was very very cool,
very well done. Other funny little like things was I
I was kind of like, whoa, these guys are strong,
Like I forgot that John took the like took the

(33:51):
knockoff Seerum, you know, and like, like this dude is
really strong. Forgot about that. Yolena obviously is your black
widow counterpart ghost such a sick power, like very very cool.
I loved obviously Century as a as an individual with
his specific powers, is so so strong and powerful, and

(34:15):
I really hope we do get to see more of
him and that there's some way that he's able to
control the Void and so we get to see him again,
because he's he's Superman who's got also telekinesis, you know
what I mean, Like it's crazy how powerful he is.
They weren't joking when they say he could take on
the entire adventures by him.

Speaker 3 (34:31):
And I'm really I'm really worried that he's going to
be a sacrificial lamb to show how strong Doom is.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
Oh, I mean, I feel like that might be what happens.

Speaker 5 (34:42):
But that's so popular, But it's something I would I wouldn't.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
Be similar to Thanos and Hulk right in Infinity War.

Speaker 5 (34:52):
You know, that'd be fair. I mean, if that's that's
what they got to do. But I like that it
wasn't your classic huge final battle sequence, you know it
was ye, it was. We got the Century fight, which
was really cool and just showed how out of their
league they all were against him and how reously powerful
he was. And then once he becomes void, it's this
like psychological stuff that starts to happen. And I thought

(35:14):
that was really cool in again leaning into this idea
of like inner turmoil and trauma rather than destructive like
he didn't even really there wasn't even a lot of
like destruction. There was like the crane fell, and then
it was just this this expanding shadow of sadness across
New York. So I thought that was kind of cool.
It subverted my expectations of what a Marvel movie usually is.

(35:36):
Even like Black Widow had this massive, you know, falling
out of the sky kind of thing, you know, that
sort of world ending stuff. I expected to see more cameos,
and we didn't like see as many. It was really
contained within this group of people. There was references, which
I always like when stuff is referenced and you get

(35:56):
you know, the connection, but there wasn't. It's not like
Anthony Mack he made an appearance, you know. I kind
of liked that it was self contained in this world
with minor references to kind of keep it connected. I
also thought there was some very like cornball moments, but
in like I say that in a good way, like
when they all come to like hug Bob in the

(36:17):
when he's fighting Void. It's like they like John comes
up and he hugs them too, and I'm like, this
is kind of cheesy, but it's also really sweet, you know,
like that they all were able to bond and come
together to do what was needed. So I liked the
somewhat cheesy moments that they were because I feel like
Guardians had that too, similar sort of moments like that,

(36:37):
and as far as my like, it's very few gripes,
you know what I mean. Like you guys said I had,
I really was like, why the f is task Master?
Even in this movie. She was already kind of a
strange character and underutilized in Black Widow, and then she
literally has one line and then gets shot in the face,

(37:00):
and I'm like, and they were trying to feel like
the dupe us with the marketing a little bit, which
was clever, but like it was like, don't I'm thinking,
don't include her at all because she served no purpose
other than just another body in the room to fight
and then or utilize her more because I'm thinking, what

(37:20):
if she didn't die straight away and she's part of
the team, We get to explore her backstory a little bit,
and she creates a bond, and then she dies, and
now you have a little bit of an extra like
Valentina is the reason she dies, not Century, not Bob,
but Valentina is the reason taskmastic. So now they are
really pissed at Valentina for more than just turning them

(37:44):
against each other, you know what I mean. I feel
like there was a way that could have been utilized,
that she could have been utilized more than just to
throw away kill shot, you know what I mean. But
it's not the biggest deal. And I also felt like
Bucky was underutilized. That was a gripe I had. I
felt like he's been so integral to so much of
the saga and the MCU up to this point.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
And he.

Speaker 5 (38:05):
Like I felt like his character was far more prominent
obviously in Falcon Winter Soldier and they kind of referenced
some of that and John coming from that as well.
And even though he gets some stellar Bucky gets stellar
moments and stellar lions, he felt more peripheral than I
expected him to be. I guess, again, not a huge issue,
just with something I didn't expect to be that way.

(38:28):
And I mean, that's like, that's all the gripes that
I really have.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
It was it was stellar.

Speaker 5 (38:33):
I was psyched. I left super excited and pleased. I mean,
Ken's texted me right after I got out of it,
and she goes, how is it? And I said, it
was effing awesome, you know, like I was just happy.
I felt happy leaving a Marvel movie again instead of
like wah wah like some of the other ones. And
so does it mean that we're just going to be
on a constant win ratio. Now, probably not, but.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
I oh uff is.

Speaker 5 (38:58):
Stuff's looking good on the horizon, you know what I mean.
Stuff looks fun on the horizon. So I'm I'm cautiously
optimistic again about the future of stuff and just had
a great time.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
Nice hot takes, so hot, hot all around. Let's go
forward and talk about our favorite acting performance.

Speaker 1 (39:16):
Let's name the the dude.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, you
know that, or his dudeness or duder or you know,
el dudreno if you're not into the whole brevity.

Speaker 1 (39:31):
Thing, Riley, who who's your dude?

Speaker 5 (39:35):
I mean, I talked a lot during my hot takes,
so I'll talk a lot less with this because it
was far and beyond Florence Pugh for me. She's obviously
like the prominent, like the lead of all of the
the ensemble cast. She's she's stellar, she's wonderful. Every every
iteration of Jolena we've seen so far, which I know

(39:56):
is that at the very least Black Widow and the
Hawkeye Show, and I think she showed up somewhere else briefly,
but I can't quite remember those two appearances. She's absolutely incredible.
She's such a wonderful character. She's so funny and sassy
and Florence Pugh obviously just a phenomenal actress. And she

(40:17):
just owns this part and this movie again exploring a
it's a sadder Yolena, it's it's a more troubled Yolena
than we've seen in the previous appearances. And it was
just fully, like fully believable. She just crushed it, and

(40:38):
I was, yeah, I was just very very pleased with her.
And obviously all the other roles as well, there's some
great supporting roles. Yeah, we'll get to in a second,
but for me, it would be hard to choose anybody
but her for that primary lead like Trophy award.

Speaker 1 (40:58):
That's one hundred percent agree and that's why I picture
her as well. For all the reasons you said. The
only thing I will add is that her voice is perfect.
Like she's got this low yeah, yeah, she's got such
a low voice. But that Russian accent is so good.

Speaker 5 (41:17):
It's phenomenal. I saw someone ripping on it, saw someone
like I can't stand the Russian accent. I'm like, it's perfect.
I mean I I don't know what you want. I'd
like to hear like a native Russian speaker like analyze
it and say, because you know our American perspective. But
but she's British, so first of all, she's not even
she's a like probably classically trained, and I feel like

(41:39):
classically trained BRIT's crush accents accents they do. She absolutely Yeah,
that like raspy alto voice is just it's like asmr
every line.

Speaker 1 (41:51):
Yes, I love it so much. And yeah, she just
has so much range. She really is an incredible actress.

Speaker 3 (41:57):
Agreed, Agreed, And if I picked Florence Pugh as well.
I feel like in some ways this is another like
this is another Black Widow movie that.

Speaker 1 (42:09):
Like she really got her moment. I feel like the
you know, the.

Speaker 3 (42:15):
The like sort of nods to Scargo are throughout this thing.
I mean, just like Scargo got her Halloway scene, Florence
Pugh gets hers. Here, Elena gets hers.

Speaker 4 (42:25):
You know.

Speaker 1 (42:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (42:27):
I just not to mention like kind of having chemistry
with one of the most powerful characters in the movie, right,
like yeah, they I felt like they really had a
connection her in a wonderful way.

Speaker 5 (42:41):
Yeah, platonic or romantic. It's still was very like, Yeah,
they had a deep connection, and that's like, that's a
good thing for to have in your back pocket. Is
absolutely is the Superman with telecons?

Speaker 1 (42:51):
You know, yeah, absolutely, But yeah I picked her. I
just think she's wonderful. She is. Let's let's talk about
some of the other folks though. Let's go to the Tucci.

Speaker 3 (43:03):
For this one.

Speaker 5 (43:05):
I mean, this is your classic. I always say it
whenever you guys have me on for these where it's
more of an ensemble cast. Its gets really hard to
choose the top of everybody else when everybody else is
super stellar too, you know, So in lieu of like
mentioning everybody, I like, I'll wait to hear your guys' thoughts.

(43:27):
But my number one, my top two were definitely Lewis
Pullman and David Harbor. For me, my tops of this
Tucci section. I thought that and I didn't realize until
after the fact that Lewis Pullman is is Bill Pullman's son.
I didn't. I still have never seen topic on Maverick,

(43:49):
you know, it was not on hop on my list.
So he was new to me in this movie, and
I thought he was lovely. He was so innocent and
genuine good and then like as you see his this
development and then he gets trained, and then he realizes
how powerful he is and that he doesn't need to
listen to some you know, some human like you know,

(44:13):
beasy like Valentina controlling him and stuff. And his range
in this was was wonderful because he was so funny
and sweet and then so troubled and so it was
very just believable. You know, I feel like he sold it.
I really believed that he suffered from these really dark

(44:33):
this dark past and these dark problems, you know, like trauma.
He really read like this guy is trauma, has traumatized
and really dealing with bad stuff. Just great. And then
on the opposite end of the spectrum, David Harbor is
I love him and everything he does. Alexi is absolutely
hilarious in every single scene that he's in, every single
line that comes out of his mouth is amazing, and

(44:54):
David Harbor again fully embodies that, and it's just this
big Russian goofball and I love it.

Speaker 1 (45:02):
He's such like a Golden Retriever character, Yes.

Speaker 5 (45:06):
Full on, full on Golden Retriever energy every single moment
and despite his I'm sure dark past. He really is
just this like ray of sunshine, you know, and he
provides that for you Lena when she needs it most,
you know, as this as the father figure to her
that that he is. So so those are my top two,
and then you know, I'm sure we'll have some some

(45:26):
honorable mentions here as well.

Speaker 1 (45:27):
For sure, I definitely picked David Harbor as well for
all the reasons you said, Oh yeah, I love that character,
and he's wonderful in it. Lovely. My number two, my
backup would have been Julia Luis Dreyfus is Valentina Allegra Dfontaine.
She's wonderful, so great in this.

Speaker 5 (45:45):
Role too, so good, and we finally saw a lot
of her like she was just she was just the
like Nick Fury in the Shadows, you know, in her
other appearances. So this was this full that doors open
wide to see who she really is as a character.

Speaker 1 (45:59):
Yeah, yeah, and yeah, we got to learn a lot
more about her. She's not great, great, No, she kind
of sucks. She kind of sucks, but at least she's funny. Well,
she's she's real funny. Say it is great, absolutely, So yeah,
I'm into her. Who do you have bikes.

Speaker 3 (46:14):
Uh, I probably would have picked David Harbor too. Honestly,
we love Sebastian stan He's wonderful. I think we all
know that I liked Wyatt Russell. I know, Robi, you
weren't a big fan the character.

Speaker 5 (46:29):
He was high on my list for two as well.
Like personally, I have.

Speaker 3 (46:33):
A huge crush on Geraldine Viswanathan. I just love her
so much as mel Ye, she doesn't get to do
a ton in this movie.

Speaker 1 (46:41):
Honestly, she was in it quite a bit for you know,
pretty far down.

Speaker 5 (46:46):
That's she's a really peripheral character that had a lot
of big moments and what is she from? I have
never seen her before.

Speaker 1 (46:57):
Drive Away Dolls.

Speaker 3 (46:58):
More recently, he's been in quite a few things.

Speaker 1 (47:01):
Yeah, yeah, that's really funny.

Speaker 5 (47:03):
Like Lewis Pullman and they were. They were two fresh
faces for me on this one. So yeah, she was great.

Speaker 1 (47:08):
Blockers is a good time if you're in for like
a raunchy comedy situation. Pretty fun.

Speaker 3 (47:16):
And then also shout out to uh, I cannot know Peers. Yes, yes, yes,
I love Wendell Pears a lot.

Speaker 1 (47:26):
Again, but the.

Speaker 5 (47:30):
Congressman, congressman, sorry, right right, he's great he's great.

Speaker 1 (47:33):
He's so good, He's good in everything that was my
That was another gripe is that I wish you would
have gotten more just because I love him.

Speaker 3 (47:40):
Also, we had another Wire guy in there, right, because
wasn't the guy who was sort of leading the the
like fighting squad. Wasn't he in the dock season of
The Wire?

Speaker 1 (47:53):
Oh? I should look up his name obviously. Oh it's
Chris Bauer. He's right below Wendow Peers. Chris me he
was working with Valentina. Oh yeah he was season You're
absolutely right.

Speaker 3 (48:06):
Yeah, he was like ahead of it or something or whatever,
and really small role in this Yeah, very small, but
I recognized him. Although he uh, he had one of
the more interesting moments with Valentina because she beat the
crap out of him when he was going to fire
on Bob and it made us It made me at
least be like, oh, Valentina's got some game too, like

(48:27):
what's going on? Roguish, what's happening?

Speaker 1 (48:34):
But yeah, I just I like that guy a lot.
I think he's a super interesting actor in general. What
other runners up did you guys have?

Speaker 5 (48:44):
Like I said, I I am fascinated by John Walker's character.
You know, like, I think that he's got a big
chip on his shoulder because he wanted to be the
golden boy, kind of following in Steve's footsteps, and he
just had two Whereas Steve was was sunshine in you know,
in human form, given a serum and made better. John

(49:06):
had too many demons and so when he was amplified,
it made him worse. And it's a I think, a
cool sort of juxtaposition to that. And in this I
liked that we got to see a little more of
where he what he's gone through since you know, like
alienating his family by being a you know, a butthole.

(49:27):
And uh, I like, I really think that why I
played it well, I just thought he was a there's
all these different flavors on this team, right of like people,
and he was a unique like ingredient to the to
the team. And I thought he had some great lines,
some really funny moments, you know, and and truly just

(49:47):
an absolute ass. And I liked it.

Speaker 1 (49:50):
I liked it.

Speaker 5 (49:50):
He was almost irredeemable, which I think is everybody usually
gets redeemed right, and even he does to an extent,
but he's just kind of still.

Speaker 1 (50:00):
You're not wrong you're just.

Speaker 5 (50:02):
Yes, you're just a jerk, whereas like the other jerks
across the MCU tend to have their moments where you're like, Okay,
I kind of love you, you kind of don't love them,
and still at the end of it, but he's still
part of the family. Now everyone's got that cousin that
is just you know, a piece of so I love him.
Oh that's you.

Speaker 1 (50:20):
Sorry.

Speaker 5 (50:23):
I loved Valentina great. Like you said, I really enjoyed
Hannah John Cayman.

Speaker 1 (50:28):
I was just gonna say, we got to mention her.
I feel like they just didn't. They just didn't develop
her character at all, Like the yeah, well developed more
in Man too.

Speaker 5 (50:43):
They developed her character a bit, and then it just
was she's got a sick power and and she comes
in clutch from like a team strength standpoint, you know.

Speaker 3 (50:55):
And then he and Lena together though, especially when they're
making fun of John a little.

Speaker 1 (51:00):
Bit, like it was fun.

Speaker 5 (51:02):
It was really good that that again, that dialogue that
can the community that they built as a team of
people that by all accounts shouldn't really get along and
didn't really get along at least for most of the movie.

Speaker 1 (51:15):
But I thought she was good.

Speaker 5 (51:16):
And then, like you said, Sebastian Stan loved the dude.
I felt like I wanted uh more more in this
uh but I get what his role was, you know,
And I hope that moving forward with this team, in
whatever capacity they do show up, that we see that
we see him featured, you know, prominently, because he's he's

(51:37):
got some seasoned history in the MCU as a as
a character. He's got a lot of weight to his name,
you know, so I want it to be like, have
that be recognized on the screen.

Speaker 1 (51:49):
And poor Olga Curlinko.

Speaker 5 (51:52):
Yeah, one line, one line and then just shot in
the face.

Speaker 1 (52:00):
I think she was just a nightmare on I mean
she was. She was at all the red carpet stuff.

Speaker 5 (52:06):
She just seemed like a nice person and that she
they just needed another body in that fight sequence. And
but then they were like, well, I guess we need
it to only be four people climbing up the elevator chefts,
so someone's got tied, you.

Speaker 1 (52:19):
Know what I mean. It was just ad to show
that they were really they were going to kill each other.
They needed to show that they really, you know, that's
what they were there to do.

Speaker 5 (52:28):
That if that was the goal that was effective for sure.

Speaker 1 (52:32):
But yeah, she didn't get to do a lot. Well,
let's move on. Let's let's talk about some of our
favorite scenes. Let's choose the Dingus soda. Sodas is quite simple, really,
Dingus Dingus. I could talk about my Dingus all night long.
What do you have for this one?

Speaker 5 (52:54):
This one was hard, like harder for me than other ones,
because the whole movie just kind of blends together, like
there's some stand out like some standout moments, and again
there's not that massive, ending climactic fight sequence so necessarily
in the same way as other movies. So this was
more like bullet points for me. I thought that at

(53:15):
first Vault fight was really fun because we sort of
see each of them, even task Master, up to a
certain extent, like really flex their abilities. We see how
fricking strong John was, Like I forgot how he's just
absolutely launching people across the room and he's pretty like
skilled with the shield.

Speaker 1 (53:35):
Even Yolena was like, what is happening?

Speaker 5 (53:37):
Yeah, excuse me, he's been practicing off screen. She is
obviously very Natasha coded like Yolena, she's very very skilled fighter. Yeah,
and we see Ghost really has honed in her abilities
and can use it super effectively.

Speaker 1 (53:55):
That was really it was a.

Speaker 5 (53:56):
Great scene and a lot of comedy, a lot of
like initial spark to this team. And then subsequently the
elevator climb was hilarious, but their little feet just barely
creeping up as they go. It was so like they
spend fifteen minutes showing how crazy, strong and skilled they

(54:16):
all are. And then this very like three stooges like
climbing up an elevator shaft like rivers and just bickering
the whole time. The limo chase, great scene, like super
fun scene, but Bucky coming in and showing him whose boss,
and it really shows how much respect Bucky like commands

(54:37):
as a character that he he contained all four of
them or whatever, you know, like easily. Apparently they all
are tied up by the end of it. And then
the first the sentry fight was like that, like that
was like eyes wide open, jaw again. Damn, this dude strong.

Speaker 1 (54:57):
You know.

Speaker 5 (54:58):
The the Trauma Palace may of terrifying rooms. That was great,
And yeah, I think maybe Alexi's speech to Helena also
a really powerful moment of like the sentiment, like the
heartfelt nature of it you know, where it slows down,
it's just the two of them sort of father daughter moment.
I was really sort of is what it's like the

(55:18):
turning point, I feel like and in that at that
point in the movie. So yeah, it's a lot of
like little, little great moments and I'm not quite sure
what I would put it the highest. I'm curious about
you guys think, and then I think.

Speaker 1 (55:31):
I think my number one was when Red Guardian shows
up in the limo and rescues them. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (55:45):
Also, her face was so great, like when she's just like.

Speaker 5 (55:49):
Oh no, him perfectly captures the embarrassed dadder vibe, like
and just so embarrassed her dad can't just cringing so hard.

Speaker 1 (56:02):
I don't know him. I don't know, I don't know him. No,
it's steady. But he had so many good lines throughout that.
And while they're in the car or in the limo,
that's where they kind of you know, they're the thunderbolts.
That's where they figure that out. And I thought it
was oh and dude, when he hits that button in
genuine pony starts, so it's like are you driving that?

(56:30):
That was for sure my number one part of the
movie for sure, that's what I would pick.

Speaker 3 (56:37):
Well, maybe we maybe that's the one, because that I
had that written down as well.

Speaker 1 (56:41):
It sounds like we all did.

Speaker 5 (56:42):
It's high up on that list of what I wrote down.

Speaker 3 (56:45):
So to add to it, when Bucky like shoots the
the like cable down off the Humby and then goes
back grabs it, drives it into the ground with his arm, like,
that is sick.

Speaker 5 (56:59):
Remember seeing that cool heavily featured like in the marketing,
and I kind of missed what he did to cause
And I was like, he's so wrong.

Speaker 1 (57:07):
I think they just showed it flipping I necessarily like
you did it.

Speaker 5 (57:11):
Maybe Bucky's hella strong, but he's also just a dude,
like and how does he stop a Humby? And I'm like, oh,
that was really really well done. The Wakandan arm shoved
into the concrete, it was sick.

Speaker 3 (57:25):
Yeah, I loved that so much. But You're right, Rob,
the everything that happened in there too, like you both said,
is really funny too, because there's like silly moments the
thunderbolts thing.

Speaker 5 (57:35):
Him flooring it and it only goes up to fifty
three miles an hour.

Speaker 1 (57:39):
I'm going just give it a second, you know, like
so it's just great.

Speaker 5 (57:42):
I love it, and he has his first sort of
like pep talk that's less effective, and then it sort
of mirrors later on when she's like, Okay, that one
was really good, like that was a great like to
him when he like crushes the sentiment later.

Speaker 3 (57:54):
So Elena like goes out the side of the car
to shoot at the humpies and the run explode and
she's like, well yeah, and then we see it's Bucky.

Speaker 5 (58:05):
That was just so fun. Then yeah, he get that's
was like full. I was like, oh, I got the
Winter Soldier like Tingles right, Like how how he was
effective in cap two with that same sort of intensity
on the motorcycle, good stuffed the happy.

Speaker 1 (58:20):
Runner out there.

Speaker 3 (58:22):
I love the the sentry fight is great. But I
love when we get Void and he's just like you know,
this specter of a character above and when he and
apparently it's called voiding people, which I don't love because
of the bowel connotation, but when he when he gets
rid of.

Speaker 1 (58:41):
The little girl avoiding.

Speaker 5 (58:43):
I was no, I literally there was. I went and
saw Matinee. So there was six of us in the theater,
you know, it's like very intimate and intimate showing of this,
and I think audibly gasped. I was the only one
like making noise, Like I laughed a couple of times
out loud, and I just owned it. But I gasped
when she when he shadowed her away literally was shocking.

(59:05):
And really you don't when you don't know yet that
people that they're still alive, they're just somewhere else. I
was like, this m effort just killed the child.

Speaker 1 (59:18):
Getting dark, and like.

Speaker 5 (59:21):
I said before, I cannot reiterate enough how from a
visual effects perspective and my like geekiness about that, the
de set and not even desaturation, just as you see
as she she like kill switches him and then you
see his lifeless body just get consumed by shadow. And

(59:41):
then when he's out there and it's like it's I
want to know how they did it? Because did they
rotoscope him? And then like what did they do? Because
he is truly like there's no light other than just
the sparkle in his eyes, and it's so effective and
so scary because even when he like you don't see

(01:00:01):
his mouth move, you don't see anything, but he will.

Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
You can see his teeth at one point when he
sort of smiles when really I noticed, but I was
just like, oh.

Speaker 5 (01:00:11):
That's because even like when he reaches his hand out,
it all blends together. You just are getting this literal
silhouette cut out of this terrifying character.

Speaker 1 (01:00:21):
So well done. Yeah, yeah, I love that. Uh. And
then I love the scene where they all just start
like saving people on the street. That's sort of like
it was sort of.

Speaker 5 (01:00:32):
Right, yeah, yeah, and you see like they utilize their
abilities and their power and like again John holy Ship
stops a whole slab of concrete by himself like that,
and then they all come together to do it guardian,
you know, blocking the falling debris, and it's very well.

Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
I hope no one's on the other side of that thing,
but I look, I.

Speaker 5 (01:00:53):
Almost thought that something like a slapstick moment like that
was going to happen, where like.

Speaker 1 (01:01:00):
Where's the dog sees No. Another one that we didn't
talk about but that I had as a runner up
was just the beginning opening where Florence Peugh actually jumps
off the building that we all have seen that she
really did that. But I loved the narrating this monologue
that she's doing, talking about how there's something wrong with her,

(01:01:23):
and then the parachute opens up and she's like, or
maybe I'm just bored. It was just like, really it
was well timed.

Speaker 3 (01:01:29):
Such perfect like depression slash apathy in that moment of
just like or maybe none of this even matters, even
that I am sad and hate everything.

Speaker 1 (01:01:38):
And she's talking about how she's like clocking in and
out of work, but it's her just taking out a
group of yea kill it.

Speaker 5 (01:01:45):
No, she really she shows that the light and the dark,
but less dramatic than we see with Bob, and he
then sort of is this amplification of what she's experiencing.
And she realizes, I mean, Alexi says it a couple
of times, how he sees the light, it's brighter, you know,
her light is brighter. Once she has these people in
her life, and when she realizes that and can kind

(01:02:06):
of see how they help Bob conquer it, it's really, yeah,
super super effective to have her start that way. And
it's so like you said, so funny. She's so funny
even with her own self.

Speaker 1 (01:02:16):
You know.

Speaker 5 (01:02:17):
It's great.

Speaker 1 (01:02:20):
But yeah, I feel like I feel like we picked
the limo.

Speaker 5 (01:02:23):
I'm happy with choosing that. Yeah, it embodies the whole
spirit of the movie.

Speaker 1 (01:02:27):
Yeah, boom, it's been chosen. Well, let's uh, let's pick
some of these quotes. Let's show me the money, show
me the money, show a few quotes on this one.

Speaker 5 (01:02:42):
I was it's a highly quotable movie's direction. Say a
couple Riley, Bob, Initially you were Captain America. Yeah, why,
oh you're an asshole? Yeah giggles and he and like, okay,
I'm like this dude also smashed a dude's face in

(01:03:03):
with his shield. So let's pump the brakes here before
we know that you're immortal. I loved and then similarly, really,
I like that John was the butt of many jokes.
He was, and Valentina's was even more saucy. I don't
think so Junior Varsity Captain America that that got an
audible chuckle from me.

Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
That was great, totally. I loved, Bob.

Speaker 5 (01:03:25):
Have you hit me with that sign one more time.

Speaker 1 (01:03:27):
I was on meth Funny, like.

Speaker 5 (01:03:33):
Myth in a Marvel movie. I'm like, oh, I'm here
for it, dude, sign me up. Less of a quote
and more of just like words on the screen. But
the taxi tagline, yes, protecting you from boarding every evening,
just like yes, I love.

Speaker 1 (01:03:50):
The broken English so wonderful.

Speaker 5 (01:03:52):
You can just read it in his voice and the
way she says it and just rolls her eyes because
she just knows. I like Bucky's funny line in the
in the box the trauma boxes, where she's like, are
you all right? And yeah, I had a great past,
I'm fine. Nothing can imagine which which horrible like traumatizing

(01:04:15):
event would be his main trauma box, right, Like that'd
be so fun to be fun to see which one
he had to relive over and over and then the
like the heartfelt line of hers Alexi's whole speech is great.
I'm not going to specifically, but he really he does
such a perfect job of being dad in the moment

(01:04:37):
that he needs to be. But when she says, at
what point in that secret she says, at some point
in like the void area, that we can't stop him alone,
no one can, but we can together. I mean, that's
just perfect. It's the whole point of the movie. It's all.
That's where it wraps up and the tides turn in
their favor and they figure out what to do. So yeah,

(01:04:57):
tons of tons of quotable moments in this movie.

Speaker 1 (01:05:01):
Yeah, yeah, had some Alexi ones. That's what I talk about.

Speaker 5 (01:05:09):
Good David Harbor just had to have had the time
of his life. Absolutely, he always seems like he seems
like a guy who genuinely loves acting, and he's always
he always crushes it. I mean, even like as hell Boy,
which I don't think was a great movie. He was
has fun with everything he does and you can see
it just oozes from him. That's I feel like.

Speaker 1 (01:05:30):
Anytime you want to do any of these. Absolutely. I
did see him in that Silent Night movie, the so
that made the who's this old Santa Lion?

Speaker 5 (01:05:46):
I really like that connect that that's hilarious.

Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
When he says, don't drink from the big gulp in
back and you just see those full book. Yeah, it
was a long trip. He says, the light inside you
was so dim even by Eastern European standards. I love
that line so much. That was good.

Speaker 5 (01:06:09):
Line too that I meant to write down in the
moment because it was really blinking. You miss it and
I can't remember it now because I was too like
just ingrained in the moment, but it was almost like
under his breath you know, And I'm really sad that
I didn't write it down because there was a couple
of those where he's just like, it's like an afterthought
statement that just is a hilarious another just hilarious thing.

(01:06:30):
Everything he said. I wish I wrote it down. I
can't think of it now.

Speaker 1 (01:06:33):
Yeah, and Valentina had one. It's not super funny, but
I liked that she said, we're brought up with this
belief that there are good guys and there are bad guys,
but eventually you come to realize that there are bad
guys and there are worse guys. Yeah. Yeah, which that's
what Dylan's.

Speaker 5 (01:06:53):
She had that she had. The righteousness is just.

Speaker 1 (01:06:58):
What was it about?

Speaker 5 (01:07:00):
It's not it's just an opinion of righteous without power
is just an opinion or something like that says it
in the like in the Senate hearing, I think, and
I was like, that's a hot take right there.

Speaker 1 (01:07:11):
It's clearly just her trauma coming back right.

Speaker 5 (01:07:14):
Exactly she's got which we see, we never mentioned that before.
We see her sort of we see her and that
was really interesting. Yeah, fleshed her out a little bit,
which I liked a lot.

Speaker 1 (01:07:27):
You got some bukes yeah, I have quite a few,
so we said this one already. But you Len, that's
your dad. Don't go in the fault. Valentine is going
to burn you a lot.

Speaker 5 (01:07:36):
I just love that screaming it yeah from across the desert.

Speaker 1 (01:07:41):
Yeah, I love Valentina.

Speaker 3 (01:07:43):
When so we have Wendell Pierce ass so you don't
mind if this committee continues its investigation, and Valentine's like, oh,
of course not immediate scene shipped and she's just like.

Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
It. But it's really it's something straight from v That's
exactly what I thought too.

Speaker 5 (01:08:02):
Yeah, he's such good humor and such like a she
seems like such a like a a hard ass who's
like shell is impenetrable. And then you immediately see, oh
she's she is a little stressed, like yeah, so good sweating.

Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
A little bit.

Speaker 3 (01:08:17):
Elena when it's when Bob and John are like kind
of coming to blows in the vault, and she's just
like whoa, okay, okay, well whoa whoa.

Speaker 1 (01:08:25):
We swung our tiny dicks.

Speaker 3 (01:08:27):
It was a lot of fun. Yeah, just move like
it's pretty great.

Speaker 1 (01:08:31):
I love that.

Speaker 5 (01:08:33):
She's like she's like Natasha but like raunchy, you know what.
I mean, she's got the same attitude, but she's the
the raunchy dials turned up on her.

Speaker 1 (01:08:40):
I like it.

Speaker 3 (01:08:41):
Yeah, yeah, when they're climbing up the when they're doing
butt to butt and they're I think it's John Walker
when he's.

Speaker 1 (01:08:48):
Like, oh, someone's got a got a weird hard.

Speaker 5 (01:08:51):
Butt, and then she's like, it's my suit.

Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
Yeah, it's my Sorry, it's.

Speaker 3 (01:08:57):
Keeping me or whatever she says. Uh, cucumbers is pretty
hilarious when he's trying to cucumber covers of those great
I guess safer also Yolena, And this comes up a
couple of times, but it really made me happy when.

Speaker 1 (01:09:11):
She's like, oh wow, oh wow.

Speaker 3 (01:09:13):
Well, when I was five, I was on a pewee
soccer team called the West Chesapeake Valley Thunderbolt, sponsored by
Shane's Tire Shop. We won zero games, and this one time,
a girl named Mindy she did a poo at middlefield.
Anyone else have any pointless stories to tell?

Speaker 1 (01:09:26):
And then later later her dad is like, oh, she
was on that team. This girl did a pool on middlefield.
It was so so good.

Speaker 5 (01:09:36):
Yeah, his humorous, lighthearted perspective of the same thing.

Speaker 1 (01:09:41):
Yeah, it's so so good. But she did a poo
at midfield what leads to that? I don't know. That's
so funny to me.

Speaker 5 (01:09:49):
I love that's so good. I like his as part
of his like goofy taxi, his goofy taxi pep talk.
This has makings of tam that can raise to glory,
bring light from darkness. This team can be the heroes
on the Wheaties box with little Kiddy Toy like he
just he so badly wants and we see it in

(01:10:10):
the funny little mid credits scene. He just wants to
be the hero. He wants to be recognized for this. Yeah,
who's his like new mustache that he's got to that
goofy stash and the beers all trimmed.

Speaker 1 (01:10:23):
So funny. Oh yeah, really really good. I also liked
the well we said that, Okay, that was really good.
I really liked that lie.

Speaker 5 (01:10:33):
She's all choked up and she just can't believe that
he actually he pulled off a good speech.

Speaker 1 (01:10:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:10:39):
Also, we kind of didn't mention the scene, but when
they all come together within the void, that's a beautiful
scene in general, and then they kind of fight their
way out, you know. But the first time they all
show up when like the room, all the things are
kind of attacking them, David Harber grabs a pillow and
rips it in half, and he just goes, ah, evil.

Speaker 1 (01:11:00):
Pillow, And yeah, I don't even remember that. I think
would miss right.

Speaker 5 (01:11:06):
But that's what I was saying. He had so many
lines that some of them just kind of go. You
just miss him because you're looking in the wrong spot,
you know what I mean. And that that room sequence,
that first room, it was giving me very like womping
Willow Harry Potter room vibes, you know, like just inadimate
objects trying to kill all these people.

Speaker 1 (01:11:25):
But yeah, he just tears the pillow apart. You see
all the feathers flying, evil pillow.

Speaker 5 (01:11:31):
Yeah, it's that makes me think I feel like they
could have gone If I may just interject, this is
a kind of a tangent. I feel like they could
have gone darker with that, like they went. They went
funny with the room, and then they kind of continue
to go humorous, like I guess.

Speaker 1 (01:11:46):
I guess.

Speaker 5 (01:11:46):
When Elene is making her way to that room, it's
pretty dark in the other space, like her fighting herself,
reliving the moment where she has that girl killed and stuff,
but like when she first is trying to help Bob
and like she against the like angled ceiling and it
like grabs.

Speaker 1 (01:12:03):
Her for a second.

Speaker 5 (01:12:04):
That if they utilized that more, and like because the
because void as a concept as a character, it's so terrifying, right,
And I feel like if the room from a more
almost like horror vibes for a second was trying to
like consume them, I feel like that would have been
really cool to see. I'm not complaining that it was
more of a funny sequence, but that moment, like I
was like because it kind of it gives that like

(01:12:26):
hands coming out of the wall, yeah or something.

Speaker 3 (01:12:31):
Yeah, but I have just two more, uh, Elena at
the very beginnings, like.

Speaker 1 (01:12:38):
So you feel fulfilled, and Alexi just goes, oh yeah,
oh yeah, so.

Speaker 5 (01:12:42):
Full, so filled, so full, so filled filled.

Speaker 3 (01:12:47):
That and then John Walker he turned my shield into
a taco made me laugh, and then.

Speaker 1 (01:12:58):
It's just still that way he is it as a taco.

Speaker 5 (01:13:00):
I'm like, did he figure out how to how to
like how to use it to his advantage eventually and
just left it that way?

Speaker 1 (01:13:06):
And it's clearly not a vibranium, I guess.

Speaker 5 (01:13:11):
Or centuries just that it doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
He's that powerful. That was all the ones I had, though, Yeah. Nice, Yeah,
there's probably more.

Speaker 5 (01:13:19):
I'm sure there's for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:13:20):
There's a lot of funny ones. Yeah, well let's move on,
let's do bukes boohoo moments the crying game. I picked two.
I think there are probably more than that interesting, but
those are the two that I found on I've only
seen it once. Yeah, that makes I get it, it does. Yeah.
So the first one, it's when Alexi and Yolena are talking.

(01:13:47):
He says, you know why you wanted to be the
goalie you said, I want to be the one everyone
can rely on if they make a mistake. I love that. Yeah, absolutely,
that made me cry for sure. That's a great one too.
And then when Yolena is talking to Bob and the Void,
he's like, you can't stuff it down, you can't hold
it in, you have to let it out. Will you

(01:14:07):
try and leave here with me? Yeah? Really, really great?
And I feel like a lot of that void stuff
could have.

Speaker 5 (01:14:20):
There's a lot of flowing moments that connect up that
could all be their own one.

Speaker 1 (01:14:25):
Yeah, so I was kind of putting all those just
in that one. Sure, but those were the two that
I thought of, Riley, do you have some otherwise? I
can listed?

Speaker 5 (01:14:37):
I felt like there were more. Again, I was not
paying attention. I figured, I'm gonna let me. I'm gonna
take a guest. Let's say, there's are there six more
more than six more? I'm just shot in the dark.

Speaker 1 (01:14:49):
There there's seven more. There's nine?

Speaker 5 (01:14:53):
Damn okay alone. When she first Bob in his you're right,
it's sick.

Speaker 1 (01:15:02):
Sorry, you're right.

Speaker 5 (01:15:04):
I'll take I'll take points just for just forgetting that number?

Speaker 1 (01:15:08):
Got it?

Speaker 5 (01:15:08):
What about in when she finally gets to Bob's trauma room,
which sounds like like a business Bob's trauma room's trauma room,
and he's like you see that the floorboards like the
trauma that he faced, and like he's such it's such
an innocent little moment. He's like playing with his childhood toys.
And then you beneath him, is this like abuse happening?

(01:15:32):
And you hear his mom say like you always make
everything worse.

Speaker 1 (01:15:35):
I'm just like, what's the hardest that scene is? It
wasn't just the dad, it was also the mom.

Speaker 5 (01:15:41):
Always comes to the to the kids support and you're like, well, no,
you're a drug addict who ran away from Besia. Like so,
I don't know if that was cry inducing, but it
was really sad.

Speaker 3 (01:15:50):
I kind of just counted that as a cry from
the previous parts. Well again, it was kind of hard
to once you were in there.

Speaker 5 (01:15:58):
There was another one earlier on Man, you know, I
just list him. I could scratch my head as I'm
doing for a long time.

Speaker 1 (01:16:06):
When Bucky shows up, a little hype to your action
because I love Bucky, So yeah, wow, it's great, it's great.

Speaker 5 (01:16:13):
Uh he was looking good in this that it was
like the Winter Soldier hair but with the stubble.

Speaker 1 (01:16:17):
Yeah, I was He's handsome. He's handsome.

Speaker 3 (01:16:21):
When they have when Bucky is like he kind of
lets the cat on the bag that Walker's family has
left him, and not so much that because I feel
like we all kind of knew that. But the look
between Yolena.

Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
And John there was really great because it wasn't like
you lied to us.

Speaker 3 (01:16:39):
It was just kind of like, yeah, I get it.
I probably want to say the truth either you know.

Speaker 1 (01:16:43):
Or whatever, like it would be hard to say understanding,
which I liked. I thought was very nice, But it
was just because he was being a douche does.

Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
But also he was you know, I don't know, he
was let down a little bit by he's weird. Yeah
you're duh.

Speaker 1 (01:16:59):
When and she is like, daddy, I'm so alone.

Speaker 3 (01:17:02):
Like when she has her final like breakdown moment, I
just thought that was so so great because she talks.

Speaker 1 (01:17:07):
About I lost my sister. I guess that's kind of
the one you said, that's the same the same scene. Yeah,
you're right, so yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:17:14):
Yes, so I know Alexi's whole speech was really it
was a it was a yes flexing the tear ducks
up in the theater for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:17:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:17:25):
I also feel like we kind of said this one,
but specifically Alexi screaming when Yolena steps into the void,
I thought it.

Speaker 1 (01:17:33):
Was like really heartbreaking.

Speaker 5 (01:17:34):
I don't think we mentioned I don't think we mentioned
that got me.

Speaker 1 (01:17:36):
I liked it a lot, And it's kind of the
same thing as the first scene, right she puts her
foot over the edge and dives in to the void
like a little bit. And then the last one is
just straight nerd stuff, but the Avengers theme. I just
loved hearing it. I was just like, hell, yeah, let's
go I remember this. Yeah, I loved it.

Speaker 5 (01:17:56):
I remember how this feels.

Speaker 1 (01:17:57):
Now, that's fun. So yeah, it was.

Speaker 3 (01:18:00):
It was less than I said, I guess because they're right.
They were all like parts of scenes.

Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
Let's just say that a handful. I think.

Speaker 5 (01:18:06):
I think it more than stretch moments apart a little
bit if they're you know, separated by a few minutes
of extra dialogue.

Speaker 1 (01:18:13):
All right, well, let's go on and talk about some movie.
Terrivia here do it.

Speaker 3 (01:18:18):
As previously said, apparently Florence Pugh loves heights, and she
begged to be able to for real jump off the Merdeka.

Speaker 1 (01:18:28):
Eighteen building in Kuala Lumpur, and apparently it is.

Speaker 3 (01:18:34):
Twenty two hundred feet tall. So there's no cgi, there's
no stunt double.

Speaker 1 (01:18:40):
She just did it.

Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
There's no way in hell I'm ever doing that. But
she talked them into it by kind of just being like, listen,
this is going to be great for the press tour
because I'll get to talk.

Speaker 1 (01:18:52):
About it all the time. But I can't.

Speaker 5 (01:18:55):
You're not wrong how.

Speaker 3 (01:18:56):
Much work had to go into her being able to
do that, just from like a let's get the insurance worked.

Speaker 1 (01:19:02):
Out, you know, and all that. It's got to be
a lot, right, like gotta be the same people the time.

Speaker 5 (01:19:11):
The standard of of doing your own damn scary ass stunts.

Speaker 1 (01:19:16):
Yeah, but the only thing I've done about is that
it's like it's only used. It's just such a small part.
It's the very so that it's done. It's just gone. Yeah,
that would need to be like the climax of the movie,
you know.

Speaker 5 (01:19:30):
Yeah, but the first scene last, just in case, just crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:19:39):
Crazy let's see. According to director Jake, is it shriers
that you said earlier? I assumed something like that.

Speaker 3 (01:19:47):
Anyway, he used the blast shadows and specifically made them
look like the apparently it's an urban myth. I hadn't
heard that, but to look like the new blast they
would say, like it eradicated people if they were in
inside a nuclear.

Speaker 1 (01:20:05):
Blast so much.

Speaker 3 (01:20:06):
Yeah, that you would just see the outline of their
you know, silhouette on walls and stuff. So he specifically
used that because it was really simple and he liked
the like horror.

Speaker 1 (01:20:17):
Effect in it. It was. It was great.

Speaker 5 (01:20:19):
It was so mixed with the sound design of just
that like like really cool, like just like from deep
within just this low like yeah, gone and like more
effective than even I say this lightly because it's amazing,
but like the dusting of like the snap, you know,
was this drawn out like wispiness, you know, and this

(01:20:41):
was an instantaneous just like you don't exist anymore? Where'd
you go?

Speaker 1 (01:20:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:20:46):
And and just this little reach out.

Speaker 1 (01:20:48):
It was yeah, really good. I like that. Apparently.

Speaker 3 (01:20:52):
Also early in the movie, the scene where Elena blew
up the like the floor of the building that was
not CG either.

Speaker 1 (01:21:01):
Actually, for some reason, I love it, man.

Speaker 5 (01:21:05):
I love going back to practical roots because you got
you gotta rely on CG for so much these days. Sure,
when these superhero movies, especially because there's like directors like
like Chris Nolan who like they are their whole thing
is they try to do everything practical right, but you
come to expect these days to like that VFX are
easier and safer than than practical stuff. And then you

(01:21:29):
have Florence Peude literally jumping off a building and actual
real floors exploding. I'm like, yes, I love it getting
back to some real, raw, like genuine stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:21:41):
I just don't understand how they did it because it
was like, you know, the third story and like a
big building.

Speaker 5 (01:21:48):
I wonder, I wonder if you get rid of all
the windows and you and you you blow a bunch
of of like accelerant, you know, and like stuff, and
then you cg in like the glass and particulate because
they're like.

Speaker 1 (01:22:02):
A bunch of like the stuff going out.

Speaker 5 (01:22:05):
But then yeah, yeah, right, yeah, So that way you're
not hurting anybody, but you just have a bunch of
fire blown out the sides of the building and then
you put like glass and metal and stuff on the
outskirts of it. From a VFX standpoint, still feels so
much more raw and real. And one thing that I
love is you can tell real explosions because when you

(01:22:26):
get that fire, it's so bright. And so when you
from a camera perspective, when when the scene is exposed properly,
fire will all real fire will always be blown out
like it'll be at its brightest point. So when you
watch movies that rely on fae on seat on, like
VFX fire, it'll be like the same exposure as everything else.

(01:22:51):
And you can see it. In Oppenheimer, they do it
where everything's so dark and then the fire looks like fire,
but everything else is so dark. So if a scene
is exposed properly and your fire doesn't look like it's
blowing out the like the light spectrum, so you can
see that in real explosions, interesting, like in the Big
Dune explosion and stuff that was real as well. Like
it just it peaks out those levels. From a coloring standpoint,

(01:23:14):
it's cool to look at in the future.

Speaker 1 (01:23:16):
That's fun.

Speaker 3 (01:23:20):
Apparently the old Soviet parade that Alexi is watching is
actually from a TV or a televised parade within Russia
from May first, nineteen eighty one. It was the Labor
Day parade in Moscow Square, which I thought that was interesting.
This is the final film of Phase five in the MCU.

(01:23:41):
It felt like jumping point.

Speaker 1 (01:23:42):
Yeah. I didn't know that either until I read this,
so that was interesting.

Speaker 5 (01:23:46):
That makes the whole like New Avengers, drop of the
name change and like the team building make feel more conclusive.
It kind of makes it make sense.

Speaker 1 (01:23:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:23:56):
James Gunn was interested in directing a movie face based
on this team, and Fikey claimed that it was a
possibility should Guardians of the Galaxy do well enough at
the box office. But apparently Guardians did too well and
so they had to move to making sequels after that,
and of course James Gunn is now has now left

(01:24:18):
to go do the DC stuff, so he didn't give
a chance to do it. But it does feel kind
of guardian Z points.

Speaker 5 (01:24:26):
For they took notes on how to put a hodgepodge
character a group of like anti characters together.

Speaker 1 (01:24:32):
Yeah, totally. Let's see.

Speaker 3 (01:24:36):
The choice to use famously overpowered Century was against the
Thunderbolts was a deliberate one by the filmmakers. When you
have Century and the Void and people you know have
said it online like, how are they ever supposed to
beat that guy? We knew it was going to have
to be a more internal battle, and how do we
tie the arcs of other characters so that they would
fit with this antagonist And in the world there's a

(01:24:59):
lot of trauma to be mine.

Speaker 1 (01:25:01):
So they just went with that and used that as
a way.

Speaker 3 (01:25:06):
To show that inner strife. And apparently it was always
meant to be a parable for mental health, so they
went into it knowing that was the idea, which is cool, super.

Speaker 5 (01:25:15):
Super effective, Yeah, and he was just they really didn't.
They were like, we're going to show how wildly yeah,
out of their league they are with it, because like, again,
he's very Superman coded, but he also can move s
up with his mind and stop bullets in mid air.
And like in the comics, I've been sort of reading

(01:25:37):
like power tier lyrics of stuff to kind of see
I like to look at the source material a bit
before seeing these movies, like who is Century in the comics,
and and he's crazy high up on the power level.
I mean, he literally is essentially Superman, and like Thor
can only stand up to him when it's like Thor
with the odin Forest power. Yeah, and Hulk can only

(01:26:00):
stand up to him when Hulk's got an extra juice,
you know, extra juice. So like the MCU Avengers wouldn't
stand a chance against him, you know what I mean,
crazy truly unless it was unless Thor was channeling something extra,
you know what I mean, Like Phase one Avengers from
like Avengers one would get just absolutely walked all over

(01:26:21):
by this guy. And so, like you said, it's you
see that and you're like, well screwed. How are they
going to come out of this? And it being an
emotional internal battle, is was very satisfying to see that play.

Speaker 1 (01:26:32):
Out that way. Agreed, and the Thunderbolts.

Speaker 5 (01:26:36):
Team, I was reading from a compic standpoint, is such.
There are so many iterations of the Thunderbolts. Oh, really interesting,
so many the Wikipedia when you like expand the little toggle.
I was scrolling and I'm like, holy, this does not end.
It's like there are legitimately thirty different like iterations of

(01:26:58):
this group put together by different sort of Valentina esque characters,
like who who build it up? And some of them
are like worse, like worse anti heroes, and some are
like are better, you know, like not as dark and
evil or whatever. And and then the fact that I
was expecting it. I didn't think we'd see Harrison Ford

(01:27:20):
in this, but I thought we would hear about Thunderbolt
Ross and that that was I think one of them
original iterations was had to do with Thunderbolt Ross putting
together a team of anti heroes as his own thing.
That was more Valentina's thing in this, So then it
being a different a different reason that they were called
the Thunderbolts with the little asterisk asterisk was it was
funny to me because and it wasn't needed, like Thunderbolt

(01:27:43):
Ross wasn't needed in it. But but I was expecting it,
and then it didn't happen.

Speaker 1 (01:27:49):
That's a good call.

Speaker 5 (01:27:50):
I didn't even from the get go when they announced this,
I was like, well, obviously, obviously Red Hulk is going
to be.

Speaker 1 (01:27:59):
Or whatever.

Speaker 5 (01:28:00):
Yeah, exactly, Yeah, and they didn't go that way, which
I actually think was better off for the story.

Speaker 1 (01:28:05):
I agree.

Speaker 3 (01:28:07):
I do think it's funny kind of speaking off the
They got it from the you know, the soccer team.
Apparently the director originally wanted the jokey post credit scene
to be a handheld video that Alexi was shooting from
the bleachers during the game when the girl pooped in
the middle of the field. But yeah, they decided not

(01:28:31):
to do it because Alexi would have been in Ohio
at that point, and like undercover, he would have just
been using his regular voice, so it would have just
sounded like David Harbor. And they were like, that's not
as fun, and we don't.

Speaker 1 (01:28:45):
Want to he doesn't even need to be talking. It
could have just been the of the or it could
have like cut to him after. Yeah. I don't know,
but I just thought it's like I go or whatever.

Speaker 5 (01:29:03):
And he turns the camera on himself, like it would
have been great.

Speaker 1 (01:29:07):
Yeah, make it a third, put it in.

Speaker 5 (01:29:09):
That's a third. As a third credits scene, come on, yes,
but I just was like, that.

Speaker 1 (01:29:13):
Would have been so I wish they would have done
that now so much.

Speaker 3 (01:29:17):
That was all the trivia I had.

Speaker 1 (01:29:20):
Did you have any roup? I saw the Russo Brothers
directed the post credit scene, and that's the first involvement
since endgame, so that was interesting. And as far as
people up for roles, it looks like Steven Young was
supposed to be Bob, but because of the saga after

(01:29:41):
Strikes when they were able to get back, he had
some scheduling conflicts. So that's a bummer, and it makes
sense since he and Jake Schreyer worked on Beef. I
love him.

Speaker 5 (01:29:54):
I think he's stellar, but I'm really I was so
pleased with Lewis Pullman. I feel like I feel like
Steven Ewan is like a little too pretty, you know,
like if like he's a little too polished, it wouldn't
have been as believable to me as this really like
damaged guy, whereas they made Lewis Pullman feel before you
see he's kind of a rip. He's kind of ripped,
you know, he's got all like the baggy scrubs on.

(01:30:16):
You're like, this is just like a sad, kind of
greasy little guy, you know who's I feel like he
fits so perfectly. I feel like it was serendipitous that
it didn't work out for for him and that he
could come in as a stellar character later on in
the N two. Like I feel like almost like Century
is incredible, but it's a little bit like, uh, like
what's his name? As Adam Warlock, You're like to see

(01:30:36):
you as much now you're this like really powerful character,
but are we going to see you utilized as much
as we want to? Whereas Steven Ewan could play a
more key character because he's such a great actor.

Speaker 1 (01:30:46):
So mm hmm, Yeah, he's awesome. Another great actor that
was up Ao at Aberria was cast as mel. She
also had scheduling conflicts and she would have been grass
have been really good in that role. That's good. I
like that a lot. Yeah, that was all I ad nice. Rather,
did you have any that we missed or anything?

Speaker 5 (01:31:08):
No, I mean I said my little spiel about the
different like iterations of the team. Fascinating it is that
this this iteration, whereas like the Guardians of the Galaxy
is also one of those where there's like that classic
Guardians team that is like Yondu and that we see
at the at the end of the second one. I
think after Yon do dies, remember, like we see yeah,
we see Sylvester Stallone and like those other guys. That's like,

(01:31:30):
that's like the O G Guardians and then the Newer Guardians.
There were comic roots of the star Lord led team yep,
but in this one, I couldn't really find an iteration
that was like this group of characters. Yeah, us agent.
You know, John Walker is part of a lot of them,
but Yolene is like not as much Fucky is, but
like certain like Ghost is not. You know, it's a

(01:31:52):
very different iteration. So that was just that was my
cool little tidbit that a more customized version for the
MC you.

Speaker 1 (01:32:01):
Nice, nice. Will there be a sequel Judgment day, Yes, yeah,
they said at the end the new Avengers and Bob
we'll return.

Speaker 5 (01:32:10):
Do you guys think do you think there'll be a
proper sequel or more just an expansion of them within
a movie like Secret Wars or whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:32:19):
You know, I think both both.

Speaker 3 (01:32:21):
You think, I think they'll survive, but maybe not to
know what's going to happen in Secret Wars that it's.

Speaker 5 (01:32:27):
Like exactly because Doomsday We've got whatever is coming up,
it's you know, absolutely ridiculous cast and all the downy
Junior as Doom stuff. We'll see how that all plays out.
But we're getting into crazy multiversal stuff here. You know,
we're obviously spoiler alert anybody who hasn't seen this movie.
We see the Fantastic Four ship come from another the
other dimension, from a different Earth dimension where they're in

(01:32:48):
the sixties or whatever. We're getting some crazy crossover here.
And I'm a little like, is Secret War is going
to be like a soft reboot? You know what I mean? Like,
is it just gonna shake up our MCU? So now
we can have mutants, and we can have these other
key members of this pantheon of comic characters come into
play when they haven't existed in in what is.

Speaker 1 (01:33:10):
What is this earth buge?

Speaker 5 (01:33:12):
In our proper? Is it six one six?

Speaker 1 (01:33:15):
Is that what's right? I think that's right.

Speaker 5 (01:33:17):
Because we hear like nine nine nine off Spider Man ones,
and we hear like eight five two as in Doctor Strange. Yeah.
So anyways, like I'm a little bit trepidacious because I
keep holding my breath. I'm like, are we going to
see a new Avengers movie with these guys, or is
it gonna is it gonna get shaken up with Secret
Wars to the point where it's totally different afterwards. I

(01:33:39):
don't know. I hope we see him again. I want
to see Bob figure out his duality and freaking wreck
and fools.

Speaker 1 (01:33:45):
Yeah, for sure, I love it. But yeah I don't.
I don't know both both both h Well, do you
want to play games? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:33:55):
Always.

Speaker 1 (01:33:55):
I did a starting five classic, and you guys know
how it works. I'm gonna five actors. When you know
the name of the film, bring in with your name.
No negative points for wrong answers. You can get more
points if you guess the names of the actors that
are remaining. There's also a theme this one. The theme
might be tougher. I like it. I like it. It's

(01:34:18):
not as obvious as a lot of mine are. So well, see,
we'll see if you can get it. Are we ready? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:34:28):
Ready?

Speaker 1 (01:34:29):
Right? Number one? The first name is Dan Foegler mm hmmmm.
The second name is el Fanning, Dakota's sister. The third
name is Monica Barbero. The fourth name is Edward Norton.

Speaker 5 (01:34:53):
Oh goodness.

Speaker 1 (01:34:55):
In The fifth and final name is Timothy Shella may.

Speaker 5 (01:35:01):
Oh Riley. Oh yeah, oh, And of course I didn't
actually see it, and I'm not gonna be able to
say the name of it. It's the freakin.

Speaker 1 (01:35:11):
Yeah, uh got it.

Speaker 5 (01:35:14):
I'm just proud that I got it. I'm not going
to know the name. I never saw it.

Speaker 1 (01:35:18):
So what's the name of that? I was like, I
was like undeserving. I was like, what is it?

Speaker 5 (01:35:26):
Something? Something all encompassing?

Speaker 1 (01:35:28):
Is a rolling stone?

Speaker 3 (01:35:29):
No, what is it?

Speaker 1 (01:35:31):
She's Dakota Fanning's sister. Wow, that makes so much sense.
I don't know that I do that. Yeah, that's yeah cool. Yeah,
one point. Let's go to number two. The first name
is John Ham Yeah mm hmmm. The second name is
Jennifer Connelly mm hm hmm. The third name is Val Kilmer.

(01:36:00):
The fourth name is Miles. I said Miles already, So
Miles Teller. It's top Gun. It's top gunck frick damn it.
He's such a maverick. One name remaining Thomas Cruse.

Speaker 5 (01:36:19):
That is correct, Thomas Cruse never spoken never ever? Is
that not what you guys call no Thomas?

Speaker 1 (01:36:27):
All right, we got a complete unknown and Top Gun Maverick.
Let's go to number three. The first name Gary Cole.
The second name is d Drich Bader Bukes bus Space.
That is correct. In three names remain Jennifer and yes, yes,

(01:36:53):
why can't I think of name? I mean it's not
a it's not a huge name. But we did a
thing on it, right, we definitely did. But you know, uh,
Stephen Root Steven and one name remaining the lead of
the movie. I don't think I have it, Riley. Do

(01:37:13):
you know the lead of Office Space. Yeah, it's a
it's a deep poll. His name is Ron Livingston. Livingston.

Speaker 5 (01:37:19):
Okay, I'm gonna take a serious guess at the theme. Okay,
movies that Riley hasn't seen.

Speaker 1 (01:37:29):
Yes, I sent you a survey of all the movies.

Speaker 5 (01:37:33):
Give me a list of movies Riley hasn't seen.

Speaker 1 (01:37:38):
So you got three points on that one. Damn, that
is not correct, Riley for the theme. Let's go to
number four. And I don't know if you've seen number
four either, And you're not gonna know the first two names. Probably.
The first name is Catherine Irby. The second name is

(01:38:01):
Charlie Chorismo. That sounds for the third name. Yeah, you
definitely know. Yeah. The third name is Julie Haggardy. Another
person you might not know their name, you definitely know them.
But this is where you're going to know people. Number
four Richard Dreyfus. Oh, yes, Bukes, what about Bob? What
