Speaker 1 (00:01):
The sun is shining out cloud in the sky.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
We wouldn't know because we're so happy inside.
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Some people.
Speaker 4 (00:12):
On skis, but.
Speaker 2 (00:14):
We would rather sit on down and talk some movies.
We're the Avid Indoorsmen. Come listen to our show. We're
the evid indoorsmen at home on the go. We're the
evidendors Man. We hope you love Eises, so come on
in and stay.
Speaker 1 (00:33):
We'll do our best to excuse my.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Indoors man.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
What is happening? I'm Rob Lindquist, I'm Bugs and we're
the Avid Indoorsman. Hello everyone, Hello or today pal? Oh,
I'm good. You know what I'm excited about?
Speaker 1 (00:53):
Tell me, tell me everything.
Speaker 3 (00:54):
I'm so excited that we are going to talk about
a movie that we've never done an episode on before.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Have we confirmed that? Because I never went and looked.
Speaker 3 (01:03):
I didn't, but I know we did not do this.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (01:10):
I still feel so silly about that.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
It's really funny. I still just giggle to myself when
I think of it, like, wow, we really we almost
did an entire episode again.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Again, and I would have been none the wiser.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Nope, someone would have been like, haven't you done this before?
Speaker 3 (01:27):
Yeah? We got to give a big shout out to
Nate's wife, who she was the one who yesd Nate's attention.
She was like, haven't you done that movie before? I'm
pretty sure you did that already.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
Did you notice how he didn't want to say that
on the recording, So we're gonna say it on racks?
Speaker 3 (01:44):
Yeah, as it were? So I had no idea.
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Nope, I didn't either. I had no idea. In fact,
when he said, do you think we've done? I was like, Nate,
you fool, shut your mouth.
Speaker 3 (01:57):
I don't know why you're asking so many questions. We
done so many.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Quinn spoken to Nate. That was so silly. It was
very silly. I hope you enjoyed it. I haven't as
we are here, I haven't re.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
Listened, so I don't know what he said in that
podcust no, but I'm pretty sure it was brilliant.
Speaker 1 (02:18):
It was five years ago. It was like almost of
the day, which is cray insane.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
We've been doing this for a minute, dude, Yeah, we
have yeah, kind of fun.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
It's been great. I'd be interested to know what are like,
what we had been streaming and stuff was back on
five years ago. Yeah, that'd be interesting, but I guess
we'll have to settle for what you're watching today. So
have you seen any movies lately?
Speaker 3 (02:46):
Good question. Yes, I went and saw I went to
the theater. Oh this is a little bit ago now,
but and I'm pretty sure you saw it in the
theater as well, The Mission Impossible, The Final Reckoning Dude. Yes, absolutely, yeah, man,
As you know, I was a huge fan of that
(03:07):
franchise since it started. Yeah, it's just so I'll never
I couldn't tell you the year.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
We didn't We didn't remember that we did Back to
the Future, but Rob knows.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Wednesday second is when the first one came out. But yeah, man,
it was. It was pretty I thought it was pretty great.
I was happy I was able to see it on
the big screen. The stuff that Tom Cruise does to
make an entertaining movie is admirable. And staying it off
(03:40):
planes it yeah, falling through this guy with his parachute
on fire, which was like a real thing, hedver and
over and over. He's just a madman and it's so
much fun to watch. I enjoyed how they referenced the
earlier films and the characters from the previous films that
(04:03):
h and I thought it was a pretty timely plot
line with with AI trying to take over the world.
Have you heard about this AI? That like they programmed
it to shut itself down, and this AI was like no,
and it like it blackmailed the guy that created this
(04:25):
y it like told itself to write a different code
to like not really shut off, like it was doing
all these things to survive. So that's just nuts. But
I thought, I thought this film was really fun. Yeah,
it was very entertaining.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Love it.
Speaker 3 (04:47):
I guess I could just talk about that film too,
because I did see it. You don't have to, I'm
sure you've seen so many.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
My one complaint about those movies is they they don't
care about the plot almost at all anymore.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Like, yeah, this one.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
Wasn't bad, but it's really all pieced around whatever, like
set the stunt stunt he wants to do, which is
super cool and they're fun to watch. I had a
good time watching that movie. But yeah, like there were
parts where I was like, well, this doesn't make any
sense though, right.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Like plot holes.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
Yeah, totally, And I was really shocked by it was
funny because I went with the post and Dave and
then Dave's brother Matt, and we were talking afterward and
I was like that, like, there's a bunker setup basically
right with a bunch of crazy good actors, and they
all look kind of bad.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
Because it's just it's like an snl skit.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
Almost or something like they didn't they spent you know,
they had to get twelve more hours in a plane,
so they couldn't spend on a writer to write that
scene or something.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
It's oh, yeah, yeah, that's what you're saying, you know
what I mean.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Like it was just kind of like, okay, like it
wasn't bad, but it was also like what is happening here?
Speaker 4 (05:55):
Ye?
Speaker 3 (05:55):
But yeah, Basset and nick Off.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
For me, it was star studded and I really did
n't drum myself, don't get me wrong. I think if
you can still see it in the theater, go do that,
because this is a it's a popcorn movie, you know,
big time.
Speaker 4 (06:10):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
Well, and apparently it's the last one.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
It's also very long, I.
Speaker 3 (06:14):
Was it was almost three hours. I was surprised how
long it was for sure, But dude, they covered some
ground all over the world.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Who knew South Africa was so beautiful?
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Man?
Speaker 1 (06:27):
With mountains. I guess I didn't realize that, but amazing. Well,
cool love it. Have you been streaming anything?
Speaker 3 (06:37):
Yes? I finished Your Friends and Neighbors on Apple. Oh nice.
I had talked about it when I had started it,
and I was like, I finished it, Vince vonn one, No, no, no,
this is the this is the John ham Olivia Munn,
Amanda Pete.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
Oh yeah, I said, Vince von I thought John Hamm
where he's a rich guy, right, exactly?
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yeah, that one.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Sorry you said the wrong thing.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
I thought it was okay. I would be surprised if
they keep it going. Oh interesting, But they have made
it so they could keep going if they wanted to. Yes,
it is compelling to see how the super wealthy live
and to see how most of them are still very
unhappy even though they have every toy and all the
(07:26):
nicest things you can buy. And it's interesting to see
John Hamm's character. We know he loses everything pretty much,
and just to see his character shift from someone like
that to someone who's worried about how he's going to
provide and sure all that. So that is compelling. For sure,
that's cool. It's yeah, it's just kind of dark. There's
(07:49):
some side characters that don't do a lot for me.
I'm glad I watched it, but I certainly wouldn't go
like on and on and recommend people go check it
out either.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
It also kind of like season premise a little bit.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
A little bit, but who knows, And maybe they could
do some really crazy things this next season, but would
I would be surprised if they keep it going. I
haven't heard anybody talking about it at all, so I
don't know if it's like super well received or not.
So I thought it.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Was just okay, nice, nice, how about you're cool. I
watched the end of season two of The Last of Us.
I don't think we've talked about the end yet.
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (08:34):
What a great season of TV. Though overall really fun
and interesting, and I think it's like a shorter season
because I think it was only eight episodes if I
remember right. It's also been a while since I finished
watching it. It feels like.
Speaker 3 (08:51):
But really cool.
Speaker 1 (08:53):
They did a lot of super interesting stuff with this season,
and yeah, I'm excited to see how they I feel
like we're sort of in the home stretch of finishing
that story a little bit, so yeah, but maybe that's wrong.
Maybe they'll come out with another game, and then you know,
there'll be a whole nother giant.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
I have no idea what the original content is at all.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
So I think there's been two games, and I think
we just went through the first half of the second
game basically, And I believe they even said in an
interview they weren't going to go past the source material
because that.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
Kind of that's got people in trouble before.
Speaker 1 (09:29):
I guess. Yeah, So yeah, we'll see, but it wouldn't
shock the show's the discuss The game was a success,
so probably they'll come out with a new game.
Speaker 3 (09:40):
They might even be working out already, who knows, But yeah,
I saw a rumor and who knows, it's probably not
true rest on the internet, but that they might focus
more on Caitlin Deaver's character. Yeah, in the next if
they do another season.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Certainly that tracks with what the game will be for
this next they're definitely doing at least one more season
and then they'll probably be caught up with the game.
So yeah, that tracks for sure. And she's great in this,
She's always so good.
Speaker 3 (10:13):
Everybody is so good in it. Yeah, and yeah, you
were correct the first season was nine episodes in this
season was seven.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Okay, nice, Yeah, so that's kind of fun. But I
also don't mind that, like just have as many as
you need, you know, like it was compelling. All of
them were really good. It's just this is such a man,
it's such a big budget project. I have to imagine
be expensive to make them.
Speaker 3 (10:40):
Every episode is like a full on film. Yeah, it's
really really cool. So yeah it was.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
It was really fun. If you liked The Last of
Us the first season, you're gonna love this one. If
you haven't seen it at all, it's uh, you know,
there's horror parts because it's like, you know, zombie type characters,
but it's really compelling and it's kind of gross sometimes,
but it's really good. So you might want to check
it out. And that's on.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
X IS.
Speaker 1 (11:08):
It's still in the trio. Man now it's still change
to HBO.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
Again, right, Yeah, I don't know why to do it,
but yeah, so check it out. Check it out. Should
we do a few plug a us here? I think
we should.
Speaker 1 (11:23):
Iice you guys, convince This as always over on the
Twitter machine where we're at Avid Endorsement with a Z
or you can go to Facebook dot com slash the
avet endorsement, also available on Instagram, TikTok, Blue Sky.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
I think it's at the Avid endorsement on all of.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Those, so go check it out. But if you really
want to be part of the crew, the spot.
Speaker 3 (11:40):
To go is patreon dot com slash the Avid endorsment. Yeah,
it's a great time on Patreon. We love our patrons.
We give them lots of perks. One of those is
getting a shout out here. So I would like to
give a big shout out to Marsha Grisi, act, Mary Fox,
Nanette Walkley, Yohem Bros, Head deb Olk, and Noah Flas.
You guys are wonderful, Thanks so much for your patronage.
(12:03):
And another perk that we like to give our patrons
is an extended version of every episode we put out.
Usually on these movie ones, we'll do a top five
draft that pertains to the movie we're talking about. Love
it and for this one, you know, we were thinking
about doing it for Back to the Future, but we
thought let's do it for Back to the Future too.
(12:24):
The Top five Christopher Lloyd Films draft, Oh, which I
was kind of surprised I'd seen almost twenty Christopher Lloyd
film me too.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
I was at first, I was like, I don't know
if we'll be able to pull this off, and then no, Oh,
I guess no. And I like a lot of them too.
There's not too many like stretches in there.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
So I think I've seen more Christopher Lloyd films than
Michael J. Fox films, but I haven't looked it up.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Well that's probably true.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Huh.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
Yeah, Well, Michael did a lot.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Of TV, so much TV, so there's that great TV.
Wait not just shoot me.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
What was the one the New.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
York He's Spin City, Spin City. I liked that show
a lot, dude, and you can't beat family ties.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Was he like the deputy mayor in Spin City?
Speaker 3 (13:10):
Is that what he was doing?
Speaker 1 (13:11):
It was something?
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Oh it was political, yeah, in city hall right or
something like that. Yeah, I don't he was like he
was like the I don't know, the staff maybe or
something exactly. That's something like that. And it was probably
after the American President because he was so good in that.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
Oh yeah, good call. It probably was no fun, I'll
fuck just good times. Well, great, we're here today to
talk about the second in our series that we definitely
knew the first one we'd already done. We're continuing it obviously.
Does this is Back to the Future Part two, celebrating
(13:49):
it's thirty sixth anniversary.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
If I'm not mistaken, this is an eighty nine. Yeah,
that's thirty six, right, because forty eight five. So yeah,
you got it.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
So that worked, so that thirty six. Damn, these came
in a quicker succession than I thought. I thought there
was a little bit more time in between them.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Well, I mean it was four years, yeah, I guess. Yeah,
that was probably a lot back in the day.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
But clearly like this one was shot at the same
time as three.
Speaker 3 (14:18):
Right, because they even had a big part of the
Jimmy one, all that good stuff. So I digress. We'll
probably talk about that more, definitely will.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
But we had to get a man who loves a
diverging timeline. He's a big fan. Yes, he loves fantasy. Yes,
he loves making noises. I think we can all agree.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
I've heard it. He's like, if he was.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
The sound effect guy, he would just make the sound effect.
He wouldn't press a button exactly. That's insane. Michael Winslow
that thing. Yeah, absolutely, but let's give it up for
our buddy Adam Rup.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
What's up?
Speaker 5 (15:00):
Up?
Speaker 4 (15:00):
What's up? Rob? Damn?
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Not a whole lot, man, We're just talking about movies,
and we're excited to have you back.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
I'm excited to be here, right, Amazing. I feel like
it might come up. So just so you know, Rob,
we scheduled a podcast to do Back to the Future
Part one with Nate and then realized we did it
five years ago.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
So with Nate, we're really.
Speaker 1 (15:31):
On top of things around here.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
About ten minutes before we were going to start doing
the podcast, Nate was like, he sent a screenshot of
our post five years ago saying that we were releasing
the episode on Back to the Future. Amazing, done this already.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
So maybe we should ask it this way. Have we
done Back to the Future Part two with you at
any time in the past that you remember? Because we
don't know anything, I'm not sure.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
Well, if we're following the press of the film.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Yes, right right, see we're brand you.
Speaker 4 (16:05):
Go back and yeah, and if we change the past, yeah,
I don't know a timeline.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Think I've gone cross eyes.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
So yeah, it was silly, very silly.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
We're so happy to have you here to talk about
this one though, because We feel pretty like sixty forty.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Confident that we've not done it before. So that's good.
We love it.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
That's so funny.
Speaker 3 (16:34):
We know we didn't. We didn't look into.
Speaker 4 (16:36):
It, but I hope that you have done it before.
Speaker 3 (16:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
I don't think we have because.
Speaker 3 (16:42):
I really don't think. No, we haven't.
Speaker 1 (16:44):
It's but yeah, uh, you know I didn't ask you
this before, so my bad. But do you have anything
you want us to plug buddy for you?
Speaker 5 (16:53):
No?
Speaker 4 (16:54):
I know you got your Patreon, I got my No,
I don't have Patreon. I have my own websites.
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Sorry.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
Yeah, adam upmusic dot com. You can always go there
to see stuff. That's it cool love It's go to.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Home free music dot com. Yeah, check them out there.
Yeah they're cool.
Speaker 1 (17:14):
Well anyway, well, we're excited to have you here to
talk about this bell. I think we shoul just get
right into it. Rob, you want to hit us with
that reff synops?
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Yes I would. In this Zaney sequel, time traveling duo
Marty McFly and doctor Emmett Brown returned from saving Marty's
future son from disaster, only to discover their own time transformed.
In this nightmarish version of Hill Valley, Marty's father has
been murdered, and Biff Tannon, Marty's nemesis, has profited. After
(17:48):
uncovering the secret to Biff's success a sports almanac from
the future, Marty and the doc embark on a quest
to repair the space time continue. Nice, nice good, read
good read Yeah.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Let's go to rotten to modes and hear what they
have to say. Critics have it coming in at a
rock solid sixty three percent, which is lower than anticipated.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
That's dumb.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
That's a little back to the Future one was like
ninety three. Yeah, so big drop off from the critics.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Very high audience members, though they still liked it quite
a bit. It was up at eighty six percent for audience.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Members, so that's which makes more sense to me, closer
to the reality.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Yeah, yeah, but.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Yeah, critics didn't like it. Let's go in here what
we thought though.
Speaker 3 (18:37):
Let's get our hot take. That's a hot take. That's
a hot take.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
I see flames from the tires, right ah, AnyWho, I'll
go first on this one.
Speaker 1 (18:56):
I like this movie a lot. Upon rewatch, this is
definitely a setup movie for the third one more than
it is, you know, like it's kind of like a
one point five almost in a way, because we cover
a lot of stuff we did in the first one,
and then we set up a lot of stuff that's
coming in the third one coming up here. But I
(19:17):
still really like it. I think Zany is a great
descriptor for this one because it is it is much
sillier in a lot of ways, which is fun, and
it covers a really if we can get over the
fact that it's twenty fifteen, and that hurts my heart
a little bit because he didn't get flying cars. It's
it's still still don't still don't have them. I was
(19:40):
promised things, but yeah we are. It's fun to go
to the future and just see some of those things,
and they're really good in all these movies of tying
together things from the different films and the different timelines.
So like we have Mayor Goldie Wilson still but he's
the third now, you know, like we have all these things,
which is super fun and I love it. I love
(20:03):
it really fun. I wish I had a hydrader to
make pizzas like that. That sounds really cool and great.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
Yeah you just get a little one. It's a bit.
Speaker 1 (20:11):
Huge, So I love that. Yeah, overall, I just think
this movie is really fun. It plays off the fun
parts of the first one while not taking itself quite
so seriously.
Speaker 3 (20:22):
But there's still like.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
That convoluted, you know, branching timeline stuff that I actually
think is really fun and a good time in this
one as well, and it leads.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
To the third one really beautifully.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Like my favorite part of this movie might be the
sort of the ending scene slash stinger into the next one,
because I just think that was so well played how
they did that and you feel hopeless and then it's
like what and all this stuff.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
I just think it's really fun. So yeah, I think
that's it.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
I thought this movie is also great, a great part
of the trilogy, but I think it is sort of
a It is a springboard into the next one more
than a standalone amazing film. But my hottest take is
I swear to you, I never understood the lingering shot
on his daughter, the McFly daughter. I never understood why
(21:14):
they did that. And then on this rewatch I realized
Michael J. Fox plays Marlene, the youngest daughter.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
I never realized it. I swear to God, which is ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Did you know Okay, So the reason they like focus
on her face when she's like, mom, are you there?
Is that it's Marty McFly apparently dressed as a young lady.
I never realized it, and so I was always so
confused by that shot.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
I was like, oh, dude, I knew that when it
came out.
Speaker 1 (21:43):
I feel like probably a lot of people did. But
I missed that for some reason, so me to so
super funny and weird. But that's that's my hottest take.
Speaker 4 (21:52):
Like it's even, it's even. It's even in the trailer
when if you watch the trailer to it, it's like
Marty McFly asaracter Martin McFly as this character and he
goes Martin McFly as her.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Yeah, that's really great.
Speaker 1 (22:07):
Yeah, I don't know why I missed that, but I
certainly don't remember remembering it, so that there's.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Again who knows you were pretty young when it came
out that that is true? That is true. But yeah, buddy, Yeah,
very hot take. It had been quite a while since
i'd seen Back to the Future part too. I didn't
remember a lot of it, so it was fun reliving it.
I think I watched the first one and the third
(22:35):
one a lot I watched the third one. Yeah, me too,
but yeah, I was very entertained, especially especially since I
had just seen the first one, so it was kind
of fun having that fresh in my brain. It was
written by Bob Gale and Roberts Mechis directed by Zamechas,
just like the first one. Robert Mechis man so many
(22:58):
good films that one of your favorite? Who framed Roger
Rabbits Forrest Gump, Contact, Castaway Flight. The dude is killing
it and he's still making movies. I just watched recently.
He did that movie here with Tom Hanks and Robin Wright,
which I haven't seen that one yet. It was It
(23:19):
was pretty interesting. He's still finding new ways to make
films and like change genres and he's great. It was
nominated for one Oscar for Best Visual Effects. It did
not win, however, the first one did win Best Visual Effects.
The score is by Alan Silvestri. Still great. That main
(23:42):
theme is so iconic. I thought the cast was fun.
We got the upgrade of Elizabeth schu in this one. Yes,
and they went and kicked out Crisp and Glover, which
I had no idea. Nope, I didn't know that either.
For sure, they did a good job. I know I
didn't notice that back of the day, but he looked
(24:04):
like Crispin when he's like upside down. I didn't know it.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
Looks like I didn't know it until about ten years
ago when I was looking into this around that twenty
fifteen time, and yeah, and then I realized, or maybe
I knew it before that too, but I was just
looking up because I thought Crispin Glover is such a
such an interesting person.
Speaker 3 (24:23):
Yeah, so strange.
Speaker 4 (24:24):
And then I was like, I was looking up and
I was like, oh wait, he's not in that second one.
Speaker 3 (24:28):
He was only in the first one.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
Pretty nuts.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
But I really loved how we get to see the
old footage from the first film from like different angles.
I do respect. Those are my favorite parts movie. And
I also love how we got to see them set
up the next film, you know, talking about like Biff's
great grandfather Beuford from the Old West, and Doc was
(24:54):
talking about how you wished he could go back to
that time, and then you get the actual clip.
Speaker 4 (24:58):
It says almost if they were filming them back to back.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
I'm all back to the future.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
But I don't think i'd ever seen anything like that.
That's a neat I don't know that I have cool
sense even it was pretty neat. Yeah, it was fun
to see how they imagine the future would be in
twenty fifteen. They didn't pan out, and he really enjoyed
how they kept the manure bit. Yes, such a good bit.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
It's perfect.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
But yeah, I thought it was a lot of fun,
a little more cartoony, which threw me off a little
bit in the beginning, but I got used to it.
But yeah, super solid sequel in my opinion. My hot take,
Marty McFly worst boyfriend ever. He just leaves his past
girlfriend all over that. That's a good look for him, Like,
(25:45):
not cool.
Speaker 4 (25:46):
Man, Yeah, he's he's just he has a weak spot
to listening to Doc Brown. True, it's true, which is
which is a lot of like the Rick and Morty parody,
you know, like you just yeah, makes poor choices listening
to this older dude that is just a friend and
not like a relative.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
But why couldn't you just stay in the car?
Speaker 3 (26:10):
Yeah the car.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
So that goes and that also goes into a lot
of the plot holes. I mean, this thing is rife
with thought holes.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
But it just makes him look terrible. That's all that's
for sure, no or any past present future. Yeah, not
a good look, thank you, thank you? All right, Adam, Adam,
What did you think, buddy?
Speaker 4 (26:44):
Well, first, I got to correct an earlier statement I
was saying Martin McFly played those characters, which is dumb.
It's Michael J. Fox alright, I know, but I felt
stupid I was looking for I kind of fixed that. Okay,
that's done. Yeah, okay, So I'm trying to remember now
what you guys are saying, because I wanted to comment
(27:04):
on what you were saying in my take. But maybe
I'll just it'll come up organically.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
Now.
Speaker 4 (27:10):
I loved this movie the most out of all three
of them until like ten is years ago, when I
realized the third one was better.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
Okay, I haven't seen the third one in a long time, and.
Speaker 1 (27:26):
I remember loving it, so I'm excited to watch that
one again.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
I was, Uh, I loved this one more back then
because of the fact that it was more compelling with
its plot. Sure, and I was hooked because at that
time when they were trying to explain all the time travel,
I'm just like WHOA. I was like kind of like
(27:54):
way into it, right, And then the third one had
none of that going on. It just was like, yeah,
you know, clean, like whereas this middle one was all
over the place, And so you're like your mind is
blown throughout the whole film, especially like when he goes
back to the nineteen fifty five time and you're seeing
(28:14):
all those scenes play out, You're just like, this is insane, right,
So that's why I'd love this one the most back
at that point in time. So yeah, I thought, I
think the crits are just being dumb on this film. Yeah,
(28:38):
maybe it's just a product of when it came out. Obviously,
I just don't think it would hold up that well
as far as plot goes in today's standards. Sure, but
back then it just like was such a you know,
I guess I'll just say blow my mind again that
(28:59):
it it really all right coffee time.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
I mean, I thought it was cool how they had
the branching timelines, and I feel like that was one
of the first times I'd ever seen anything like that,
and that you'd have to you know, if you did
one thing, it could totally change the entire future.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
Yeah. But so, like you know, this gets into the
Avengers a bit that back to the Future is a
bunch of bulk. It's not true. That's not how time
works at all. Yeah, yeah, it's a it's a fun
way to be like, Okay, suspend this belief, you know,
like no one really knows, and like I can you
(29:43):
can see how they're trying to make logical sense out
of it, and like you can buy buy it. You
can buy the product, even though even though you know
the product is kind of full of sure stuff that
doesn't work. But uh yeah, so plot holes are just
(30:03):
all over the place, especially with the time travel stuff, like,
well that doesn't make sense, so that doesn't make sense.
Well that doesn't make sense, so that's it can be.
That's questionable, you know, all kinds of that kind of stuff.
But you you just kind of accept it because it's
just a fun movie to enjoy because it's more about
well what if is like the big Yeah, Like if
(30:24):
you put what if before everything in this movie, then
you can enjoy it and you don't get hung up
on all this the technicalities and stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
I rarely get hung up on technically.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
But I do like if a movie, if a movie's
plot and like if a plot holes are bad, if
it doesn't make sense, like it can take me out
so quick.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
Sure, and then it just like all they got to
do is explain it to me. All they got to
do is tell me the reason why it works. And
if they do that, then I'm.
Speaker 4 (30:51):
That you buy the product. Yeah, yeah, thing.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
It's always like, as long as it sort of makes
sense in universe, I can I can go along, you know, like.
Speaker 4 (30:59):
Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, but all the right. But
that being said, the writing is so much fun because
they have all of these what if scenarios throughout the
whole movie that you get to enjoy. Oh, I get
to see this character in this scenario doing this thing
and with this other character, but what if it was
like this? And then you get to see that play
(31:20):
out And then it's like it's so fun because of
that fact. So yeah, that that was a That's why
I liked it a lot back then. See hot takes.
I don't know, it'll come up. I'll just interject when
I pops into my brain.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
I love it. We're nonlinear. This is time travel podcast,
so we're good.
Speaker 4 (31:44):
I'm very nonlinear today. I'm all over the place.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
Yeah, all over the place. Well, hot take, hot take,
let's just try and focus all that energy, and let's
let's pick the dude, our favorite acting performance. The dude.
Speaker 6 (32:01):
I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, you
know that, or his dudeus or duder or you know,
el dud reno. If you're not into the whole brevity.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
Well I'll just I'll take Michael J. Fox and get
it out of the way, simply because he had to
play all those different characters. Like you look at the
credits and it's like Marty McFly, Martin McFly junior, Marlene McFly.
You know, like that's just really fun whenever it, you know,
(32:36):
an actor has to play multiple characters in a movie,
it's really fun to see that. And back then, I
feel like it was trickier to do that kind of
stuff because you know, the technology wasn't there, so you
had to be really like, how do we do this scene?
You know?
Speaker 1 (32:51):
In fact, they used a new I think I wrote
down the trivia for it, but they used a new
technique and this was the first major motion picture where
they did it. They could have the same person on
screen twice with this new way of doing it, and
it was cool. It was neat.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
Yeah, so really cool. Now that being said, this movie
is full of awesome acting and characters, so it's hard
to like, well, yeah, but that's not to say that
anyone else is not awesome, you know.
Speaker 3 (33:21):
Oh yeah, like we'll definitely bring that for sure.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
Yeah. In the first movie, I thought Christopher Lloyd was
the best best actor, like not hands down, and that's that. Well,
that's because I feel like in the first movie, Christopher
Lloyd's character had the best reactions and the best moments
to be on screen, to be like that that drew
you to his character, you know, where Martin McFly was
(33:45):
more like the steady steady guy and he was reactive
too and had some comedy to it. But I think
that Dog Brown really shined in the first movie, and
then in the third movie he's he's like the main character,
you know, in my opinion, Yeah, the protagonist in the
third movie, which I think also goes into why I
(34:06):
didn't like the third one that's much back then because
I wanted to be protagonist, you know. Anyway, that's that's
my two Tucci.
Speaker 3 (34:21):
Yes, and I agree with you, Michael J. Fox. He
just was so charismatic and you just enjoy watching him
on screen. He just pops off the screen does. But yeah,
seeing him be like his younger self kind of putting
(34:42):
on that point, I guess, which was also funny that
long weird jack it Yeah hmm, well, yeah, he was
the one that had the weird That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (34:57):
It would even like crack and like, which is amazing.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
But he's just the man. That guy was so awesome.
I wish he would have done more movies. I would
have to see him.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
It's interesting. I wonder, like, because he got his Parkinson's diagnosis.
I think they said in n one that happened, but
they they've been kind of keeping it a secret for
a while or something, is what I read, So I
wonder how much that played into it. You know, I
don't know, but I'm with you. He's a delight. He's
a delight, and it's a clean sweet because I picked
(35:30):
him as well. I just thought I thought he was
really great in this for all the reasons you get said.
He's just wonderful and fun and silly, and he's super.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
Believable in this whole movie, which is.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
Great, so nice love it. Should we talk about the
rest of the folks. Let's talk Toucci. But all right,
Adam what for this one?
Speaker 4 (35:54):
Did we all just pick Michael J. Fox?
Speaker 3 (35:56):
Yeah, yeah, it was an easy one.
Speaker 4 (35:59):
That's interesting. All right, Well I'm gonna give it to
Tom Wilson and that one.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
Yeah, he was a of this film.
Speaker 4 (36:10):
And you know, because I think Christopher Lloyd he was
solid as a rock, of course, right, but like I
think Tom Wilson had more to do in this one,
you know what i mean. Yeah, yeah, because again he's
(36:31):
so he's playing three versions of himself, which is his character, right,
it's just three yeah, but yeah, three yeah, which yeah, exactly.
It was just so fun. And then he also had
to do scenes where he's playing against himself, you know,
which is Yeah, it's it's pretty amazing. Yeah, And I
(36:52):
just love his his character and it's it's such a
fun little trivia. How much people hated him, you.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
Know, he was pretty hate heable. I mean he's rough, yeah.
Speaker 7 (37:04):
Yeah, which means he did it well, right, But like,
isn't there stories about that, like just at him as
a person out in the public or whatever, like people
hated him or something because they hated his character so much.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
I'm sure it's something The only thing he really did
of note, Yeah, you know, just watched. I mean, so
they only know him as Biff Hand watched the other movie.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
He's in the other one. I can think of the
heat he watched.
Speaker 4 (37:33):
The Yeah, yeah, he's great in that. And I never
put two and two together because you know, age had
gone yeah too. So yeah, he more, he needs to
do more.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
He I think has dabbled in stand up and I've
seen him do He does like a song about how
everyone asks him the same questions and so he has
like a whole thing like here this question, here is
his answer, and it's the whole It's it's a pretty
great song.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
Yeah, I mean I get why people didn't like him.
He's like sexually assaulting people. He's bullying, violent towards his park,
you know, like all the things. So he's not a
great dude. He murderer, as we find.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
Out, Yeah, straight up murders people.
Speaker 4 (38:25):
Ye.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
I was gonna pick Christopher Lloyd, but you made a
very compelling argument, and I'm gonna switch it to Tom Wilson.
I really do think that makes a lot of sense.
I just love Christopher Lloyd in these movies.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
Yeah, this was a stronger one than the first one
from him. Yeah, not that he was bad in the
first one, but I think he gets more into like
the zany like you said he is. Yeah, I think
he reacts really well in the first one, but I
think this one he gets a little more meat.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
On the Maybe it's the right way to say it,
but I don't. There's not a wrong answer for him.
Speaker 1 (39:05):
He's just great.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
It's kind of like, yeah, it's it's one of those
like you guys get to share a trophy kind of city,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (39:14):
Yeah, I love that. Did you ever run her up
that you want to say?
Speaker 4 (39:17):
Rob?
Speaker 3 (39:18):
Well, I mean had those two and then it really
drops off. Man, I like Thompson was Yeah, I feel
like I just feel like Leah Thompson wasn't I didn't
get to show off.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
As much prevalent.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
Yeah, yeah right, and that makeup, that old makeup. He's
just so bad. But yeah, I mean I thought the
very limited things they gave Elizabeth Shoe she did well
with be a part of this movie. You're passed out
for most of it. And I had such a crush
(39:54):
on Elizabeth Shoe when I was younger, from Adventures and
Babysitting and yeah, so that was just fun seeing her again.
Nice love it.
Speaker 4 (40:06):
You guys should have another category, uh for like I
don't know what you call this, but like just that
one actor that has like this is kind of bit part,
you know.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
Yeah, I mean we usually just bring it up at
the end of this. I'm going to bring one of
those up right now. Yeah, for sure there's three.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
Elijah would this is one of his first performance.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
Yeah. Yeah, it's like you wouldn't know that until someone
tells you and then you're like what, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
Yeah, I had no idea until I saw the castle
and many chances to bring.
Speaker 4 (40:36):
Up you know, I want to. I would love to
if you ever get the chance. Maybe like they should
do this on SmartLess or something like that, where they
whoever whatever actor they're they're talking about, they just like
only talk about the smallest significant roles like I Loved
You and Back to the Future Elia, it was so awesome. Yeah,
(40:56):
tell me how that affected your career.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
Or like Sam Rockwell and Teenage, you.
Speaker 4 (41:05):
Just keep going back to that movie.
Speaker 1 (41:07):
Yeah, where Steve Carell was the one recently that we
were like Steve Carrell's in this I can't even remember. Yeah,
I should have brought it up because I don't remember.
Speaker 3 (41:16):
Curly that's right.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (41:18):
I was like, yeah, that's nuts. But yeah, Elijah Wood,
that blew my mind. Billy Zane was in the first
one and I didn't know that, and then the second
one he finally has a couple of.
Speaker 4 (41:30):
Lines, so I'm a little confused. I'm trying it's who
is who is Match? His character's name is Match, But
I'm just like, I mean.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
He's just one of those three Henchmen guys that's with Bessy.
And he was the one in this one where he
had like had a cowboy hat on, yeah, and like
kind of sounded like he was doing a Southern accent.
Speaker 4 (41:49):
Yeah, okay, it's not the.
Speaker 1 (41:50):
One with the sound effects machine.
Speaker 4 (41:53):
I was like, I was like, I'm looking at him
and I'm like, it's hard to to get it in
my head. You know. That's that's cool.
Speaker 3 (42:00):
It's a very small role for him. And then and
then we had Flee from Red.
Speaker 4 (42:04):
Hot, so that one stands out.
Speaker 3 (42:06):
Yeah, the dude and on the video call ahead of
its time, that's doing some zooms, you know.
Speaker 6 (42:17):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (42:19):
Also, Joe Flaherty is the Telegram guy, which is fun
and I love that guy. He's the guys Happy Gilmore.
He's the siler guy.
Speaker 3 (42:28):
Yes, who's they're going to miss this button?
Speaker 4 (42:34):
Who's the guy mcfoy? Who is that guy?
Speaker 1 (42:39):
Which one?
Speaker 3 (42:40):
Biff? Ten?
Speaker 4 (42:41):
And no, no, no principle. But he gets fired.
Speaker 1 (42:48):
Oh yeah, that dude's name. I'm trying to Jason Scott.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
No, that was he was part of the he was
part of guys. Yeah. Yeah, because Jason Scott Lee has
also been at a bunch, He's been all around.
Speaker 1 (43:05):
Yeah, it's his boss, right, it's yeah, yeah, Oh, Jim
she recognize that guy. I think it's I think it's
Jim Sheeta. Yeah, it is totally, who has also been
in a ton of stuff. He was in.
Speaker 4 (43:23):
Ye, he's one of the.
Speaker 3 (43:28):
Like the other crew.
Speaker 1 (43:30):
It's even weirder than that. Remember at the beginning when
the people fly into the to the rig and as
he's like walking them around explaining yes, yes, then he
sees the two of them I think getting it on
or whatever, getting out of her bed or whatever the
hell it is.
Speaker 3 (43:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (43:48):
Yeah, anyway, anyway, here's your third category. Then, for for
what I was talking about, it you should call it
who's the flea?
Speaker 3 (43:57):
Who's the flea?
Speaker 4 (43:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (44:00):
Fested with fleas?
Speaker 4 (44:01):
Yeah, the big part, the big part like this is
like very iconic. That is memorable, you know, I like
that cool?
Speaker 1 (44:11):
That's fun.
Speaker 3 (44:11):
And flee was he was funny, and it's like.
Speaker 4 (44:14):
Yeah, like right, yeah, yeah, yeah, I love it.
Speaker 3 (44:19):
That was great. Good call. Uh let's move on. Let's
let's go to our favorite scene. Let's choose the dingus
socas is quite simple, really ingus ingus.
Speaker 4 (44:29):
I could talk about my dingas all night long.
Speaker 3 (44:32):
This is tough for me. What did you think?
Speaker 4 (44:34):
Oh? Sorry, what was the dingis again?
Speaker 3 (44:36):
Your favorite scene? Favorite? Your favorite scene in this film?
Speaker 4 (44:41):
Oh man, this is this is That's a tough. That
is a tough one because there are so many good
scenes that are just so fun. It's just it's kind
of a NonStop dingus honestly, because you're like, oh, I
want to watch this scene. Oh. I like as soon
as you start watching this movie, he's like, Okay, I
gotta keep watching. I can't stop watching this. Ye, I'm
(45:02):
probably going to go God this is you guys go first,
because I gotta.
Speaker 3 (45:08):
I gotta really, I think my favorite one. I really
enjoyed the like recreating the enchantment under the Seed dance
scene where we get to watch Marty watch his dad
punch up if and then watch himself watch his dath
but it was very crazy. But then stealing back the Almanac,
(45:34):
having to take out the three henchmen guys that are
waiting for the other Marty to stop playing guitar on
stage so he can get him, and he like has
the the things come down on him upside stage. I
really loved that part and just being able to re
live that first movie over again and how much fun
(45:54):
that scene was and seeing him like go and Marvin
Barry like call up chuck all that. Yeah, I just
thought that was so much fun. I loved that.
Speaker 1 (46:05):
That is great, and I love how all that happens.
So you it was happening in the other one but
not right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I love that motif. That's fun.
That's a good call. I love that scene.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
Do you think of one yet, Ruppers, I go that
was probably well you go, you go.
Speaker 1 (46:21):
Okay, because I was between a couple. So I love
the the like rehashed scenes. Like you said, Rob, I'm
on board if we want to pick that. Those are
all super fun. And the chase like getting the Almanac
back is actually really fun. So I had a good
time with that.
Speaker 3 (46:38):
So I was my runner up.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
Totally agree with that. I have always loved the hoverboard scene.
I know it's a little bit of a rehash of
the skateboard scene, but it's so fun and I want
to hoverboard so bad.
Speaker 4 (46:51):
That was right there, Okay, right on when such a
good scene when they introduced the hoverboard, dude, because every
single kid was obsessed from that moment.
Speaker 3 (47:02):
They're like, sure, I want a horror board.
Speaker 4 (47:05):
Like everybody wanted a hoverboard, you know. So, yeah, that
was my favorite scene. Is it still my favorite scene.
I don't know, maybe, but it was definitely my favorite
scene back then. Yeah, because you're just like, oh, hoverboard,
it was so fun. You're just like this is so cool.
Speaker 3 (47:22):
Well, and then it becomes such a big part of
the ending scene on the car chase, you know, and.
Speaker 4 (47:29):
Maybe this gets into your your back to the Future
three pod. But because we start to ask ourselves at
the end when the third movie, when he gets trapped
in the past, like how did he build that time
machine train?
Speaker 3 (47:44):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (47:45):
Maybe he used parts from the hoverboard. That was the
only thing of like futuristic technology, right that he kept
with him or had at its disposal. So it was
a huge like stretch to be like, because I remember,
like after the third movie, we were all like talking
to each other, be like, how the hell did he
build that train? You know when it like all he
(48:05):
could do was make an ice machine before that, you know.
Speaker 1 (48:09):
Yeah, Like I like your idea that he could use
the parts.
Speaker 4 (48:13):
Maybe that's the only thing. Yeah, whatever, it doesn't matter.
Speaker 3 (48:16):
I love that. I mean he had the whole DeLorean too, right.
Speaker 4 (48:18):
No, because like so he goes back already goes back
to the present time with the DeLorean, so right. The
only futuristic piece of technology that brought Doctor Brown had
was the hoverboard at the very end of the train
scene when the train falls and then destroys into the canyon.
Speaker 3 (48:41):
Yeah, yeah, interesting. Yeah, I don't know, that's uh.
Speaker 1 (48:45):
But the other one that I had was the I
already talked about it, but that end scene where.
Speaker 3 (48:51):
Like he gets by lightning.
Speaker 1 (48:53):
And then yeah, the Western Union people come with the telegram.
I loved that and yeah, yeah, it was very was
the first like whoa, Like I totally didn't see it
coming obviously, you know at the time, or I thought
was so effectively done because it was you really do
feel him being like, oh no, he's gone, and then
(49:13):
immediately it's like, oh, you know, like I love that
whole thing.
Speaker 4 (49:18):
Well for sure, Yeah it was. That was a great
scene because you were just your mind another like your
mind was blown because the guy comes and delivers it
and he's like, we've been holding onto this for a
hundred years. They had a bet to see if if
you were going to be here or not, and like
he just like to tell us what it is. We
gotta know.
Speaker 1 (49:36):
Yeah, it's yeah, yeah, I do love that.
Speaker 3 (49:43):
Uh yeah that was my other runner up.
Speaker 1 (49:45):
Yeah yeah, yeah, right good yeah, And honestly those were
all the ones I wrote down, so I guess I.
Speaker 3 (49:53):
Yeah, well it's been chosen. Then ye. Let's do our
favorite quotes and let's show me the money, the money, show.
Speaker 1 (50:07):
Him you're up.
Speaker 3 (50:08):
I didn't have a ton of us.
Speaker 1 (50:10):
I had a few. Yeah, I hear, you're not a ton.
Speaker 4 (50:16):
Oh yeah, I don't know. I don't I'll just say
the what is the name of the sports almanac?
Speaker 3 (50:23):
The sports sports?
Speaker 4 (50:27):
But isn't there like a first name to it? Like
blah blah blah Sports Almanac? When he says it to
Biff and the when the Biff's in the hot tub,
he's like parties over girls and he's like, yeah, what
does he say something?
Speaker 1 (50:40):
I feel mad? Grays? Grays that's it?
Speaker 7 (50:44):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:47):
Oh my god, you can buy it.
Speaker 3 (50:50):
I'm sure I might have to buy this. Yeah, it's
fun thing to have.
Speaker 1 (50:55):
I like that.
Speaker 4 (50:56):
It's good. It's a fun thing to hold, like have
hang out in your.
Speaker 3 (51:00):
Yeah, that's neat. I like that. The two of the
quotes are just because they are in the movies, all
of them. And you know where we're going. We don't
need roads.
Speaker 4 (51:11):
Yep. That was my favorite.
Speaker 3 (51:12):
I love yeah or great Scott, Great Scott is that?
But as far as as other quotes, oh, I love
when he sees Jaws nineteen and he said shark still
looks fake. So good. They're given Spielberg and he's the
(51:35):
closer of this, which I love. One part that I
don't think i'd ever really listened to because it caught
me by surprise and made me laugh. Sure, uh bif
tan and three hundred bucks. Three hundred bucks for a
couple of dents. Now, hey, that's book Terry, No biff,
it was hort. The whole car was full of it.
(51:57):
Man Jones. Eighty bucks to holo it away.
Speaker 6 (52:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (52:01):
It was pretty good.
Speaker 3 (52:03):
Pretty good. You don't it's not in the forefront.
Speaker 4 (52:08):
Yeah, yeah, it's in the back.
Speaker 3 (52:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
They also they throw some swears in these movies that
I do think would be in the current day once.
Speaker 4 (52:16):
Yeah, yeah, I mean, now make like a tree, get
out of here. Smack. It's like a tree and leave.
He's like he's like angry at him his own self,
like you you know, he's called himself an idiot. I
(52:37):
just love that because we've all like done that. We're like, oh,
why did I say that? I'm so stupid? And that's
like to actually see that being able to play out,
it's so funny.
Speaker 3 (52:45):
Well and imagine just actually seeing your younger self.
Speaker 4 (52:48):
Yeah, seeing yourself actually do that thing that you hated
yourself for doing.
Speaker 3 (52:53):
Yeah yeah, yeah, that's embarrassing.
Speaker 4 (52:55):
Yeah, it's so good.
Speaker 3 (52:59):
And I had heard that he had originally improvised that
in the first one.
Speaker 1 (53:03):
That's fun.
Speaker 3 (53:05):
Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 1 (53:05):
Yeah, that was in Trivia maybe the first time too.
Speaker 3 (53:08):
I don't know it down. Yeah, like he came up
with that line that wrong, Tom Wilson.
Speaker 4 (53:15):
That's amazing, which is so.
Speaker 3 (53:17):
It's so perfect for that character. Like, it's so funny.
Speaker 4 (53:20):
Well done, Tom.
Speaker 3 (53:21):
I love that well. And then they got to do
that again with the screen door on a battleship and
he's like, dude, it's a screen it's screen door on
a summary. Yeah, yeah, what do you got bus?
Speaker 1 (53:37):
I actually have quite a few. The one that I
always think of with this one because I loved the
harbor board seem like we said earlier, is the when
he's just like.
Speaker 3 (53:46):
Half of boards don't work on water unless you've got.
Speaker 4 (53:51):
Yeah, that's a good line. It's a good like just
how crazy he is what he says it.
Speaker 3 (53:57):
It's just so like character.
Speaker 1 (53:59):
Yeah, he choose up that one line of dialogue, which
is I like.
Speaker 4 (54:05):
It though, because you can be so free in who
that character is, because you have so much leeway that
all this character could be just a total tweaker unlike
yes whatever cyber spans and just like that's how it is,
you know, like it it fits it really well.
Speaker 3 (54:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (54:22):
I love that. I also love the you may have
to use your hands.
Speaker 3 (54:26):
That's like a baby's toy. Yeah. Yeah, I love that
setting up for the third movie as well. Yes, one
hundred percent that he's a crack shot. What else did
I have?
Speaker 4 (54:43):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (54:43):
I love the I love Doc Brown's I foresee two possibilities. One,
coming face to face with herself thirty years older would
put her into shock and simply pass out. Or two,
she encounter could create a time paradox, the results of
which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the
very fabric of the space time continuum and destroy the
entire universe. Granted, that's the worst case scenario. The destruction
(55:04):
might in fact be very localized, limited merely to our
own galaxy. I just love Marty's face when he's hearing
nuts shit, Oh my god, so fun.
Speaker 3 (55:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (55:19):
I also loved the principal who I don't think he's
a principle in this one, but we said his name.
Speaker 3 (55:24):
I don't remember what it is now, Strickland. That's right.
Speaker 1 (55:28):
When he's like, you've got exactly three seconds to get
off my porch with your nuts intact, and I bet
I loved that as a kid.
Speaker 3 (55:35):
He said, nets nuts.
Speaker 1 (55:39):
Let's see. Oh, when Doc is like, it's better than
I devote myself to the other great mystery of the universe.
Speaker 4 (55:48):
Women, that's a good we were talking about Strickland. It
just made me think of another great line. When he
finally gets what he thinks is the sports Almanac from Strickland,
and he realized it's just like a porn old meg
and he's like.
Speaker 1 (56:05):
That's right, that is a great one. Good call. He
reads that line so funny, it does. It's so good.
I also love when Marty and Doc when they get
back together and he's like, you're not going to believe this.
(56:25):
He's like, what we got to go back to nineteen
fifty five?
Speaker 3 (56:28):
I don't believe it.
Speaker 1 (56:31):
That's such a funny, dumb line reading.
Speaker 4 (56:34):
Like yeah, yeah, yeah, the mechas just wrote a masterpiece. Honestly,
it's really the whole thing is just every line is
good and like.
Speaker 3 (56:43):
Winks at itself, you know, like it's still believable.
Speaker 1 (56:46):
The yeah overboard on being like this is kind of dumb,
but it does, you know. Yeah, Like I think he
says at one point, it's like something seems very familiar
about all this, you know, like, which is just it's
just a fun little allusion to it.
Speaker 3 (57:00):
I didn't realize. I just assumed that the whole chicken
bit was in all three films, but it really didn't
start until this one. They really made it a thing
in this one.
Speaker 4 (57:10):
They really did really went for it, yeah, chicken, Oh yeah, right,
it was so it wasn't in the first one.
Speaker 3 (57:20):
Or not at all.
Speaker 4 (57:21):
Right, they they made it because they wanted that to
be a big thing in the third movie, so that
they started it.
Speaker 1 (57:29):
Yeah, but yeah, it's pretty well. I think that was
all really the one the big ones I wrote down
for sure.
Speaker 3 (57:36):
Nice. Well, then let's move on. Let's go to Mute's
Bluehoo ements the crying game. I don't think he cried
too much in this. I picked one, and it was
when we find out his dad died in the new
timeline and he like goes to the cemetery, right, Yeah,
(57:57):
I don't think you got super bent, super upset when
Doc left at the end, because we know that he's
just gonna see him in this twelve seconds he's Yeah.
But other than that, I don't think there's there's anything too.
Speaker 1 (58:12):
Yeah, that one did get me. Uh and you know what,
rather than belabor it, it was just the one. Yeah whatever.
This one, like we said, is mostly just silly.
Speaker 4 (58:22):
It's just fun. It's just capta fun and enjoyable. But
now I just had another dingus came up, and that's
the very end of the of the the film when
he sends when the nineteen fifty five dark Doc Brown
sends Marty back after the lightning bolt, and then Martin
the fly comes running. That is that is wonderful, said.
Speaker 1 (58:53):
He thought they just succeeded, and whoa, it's so good.
Speaker 3 (58:58):
Yeah, it does the branch.
Speaker 1 (59:00):
Thing because then they talk in the future and he
doesn't say like, and then I saw you again right
after the yeah, but.
Speaker 4 (59:11):
Blood holes plot. Don't think about it too much exactly.
Just don't take timeline, don't worry about separate, just don't
worry about it.
Speaker 3 (59:19):
Nice.
Speaker 1 (59:19):
Let's do a little bit of movie trivia, shall we
do it? Let's see this was filmed at the same
time as Back to the Future Part three. It was claimed, Oh,
it was claimed at the time that in the four
years since the first Back to the Future, Michael J.
Fox had forgotten how to ride a skateboard. But it
(59:41):
has since come out that you know that he shouldn't
have forgot that in that short of a time. But
Michael J. Fox has since said that this was an
early symptom actually of his Parkinson's disease diagnosis, because you
lose a lot of that, like motor function stuff, so Yeah,
it's interesting that that came up and then sort of
a deal afterward, which I thought was interesting. To commemorate
(01:00:05):
the release of the thirtieth anniversary Back to the Future
trilogy of the Blu Ray and the BDD release, a
short movie called Back to the Future, Doc Brown Safes
the World in twenty fifteen was filmed and released.
Speaker 3 (01:00:19):
Have you seen that? No? And I want to see it?
Speaker 4 (01:00:22):
What in the world is that? Is that an actual? Like? Yeah?
Tell me? Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:00:27):
So Christopher Lloyd reprises his role of Doc Brown, and
in the movie, he tapes a video message explaining that
he traveled to the twenty forties in the rebuilt DeLorean
discovered that it mentioned, such as the hoverboard and dehydrated foods,
caused people to become massively overweight. And then there's a
glitch and all the mister fusion the nuclear reactor devices
(01:00:48):
on the planet cause a nuclear holocaust apparently that devastates
the world's population. And so because of all that, he
travels back in time successfully prevents the devices from ever
being invented, and that explains why the future twenty fifteen
as seen in the movie didn't come true in our
timeline here. So it's all like a way of saying,
(01:01:12):
this is why we don't have flying cars and stuff
like that.
Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
Apparently weird, but it's but it's an actual movie.
Speaker 1 (01:01:19):
It's it sounds like it's a movie, but it's like
a short. So he it sounds like he's just kind
of giving an oral history of what happened, maybe for.
Speaker 3 (01:01:28):
You know, for the records kind of deal.
Speaker 4 (01:01:30):
But he's playing Doc Brown. I guess iah. Okay, I
gotta watch this because.
Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
I know me too.
Speaker 1 (01:01:35):
I was like, well, you should find this.
Speaker 4 (01:01:37):
I didn't know it existed, honestly.
Speaker 3 (01:01:39):
Yeah, same for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:01:43):
So the plotline of George mcflag being dead in nineteen
eighty five a timeline was based entirely on Crispin Glover's
refusal to do the sequel.
Speaker 4 (01:01:52):
Yeah, that's what I thought. Yeah, I remember that.
Speaker 3 (01:01:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:01:55):
So he there's a bunch of stuff about this, but
none of it seemed very definitive.
Speaker 3 (01:02:00):
He didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:02:01):
He had them rewrite the ending to the first Back
to the Future because it kind of was like money
and fame are good, and he didn't believe that that's
what the family would care about. He thought they would
care about having each other in their lives. And everyone
being happy, and they thought that kind of created some
some angst, and so that's why he was low balled
on his offer to return for this movie. He declined
(01:02:24):
and so and then eventually there was a huge lawsuit
that happened because they used past shots with him in
it without permission, which has since now been worked into
like the screen actors guild their contracts and things that
you can't you know, use their likeness, their their likeness,
(01:02:45):
except now with AI it's all becoming even weirder as
it goes forward. But I just thought that was really interesting.
He ended up settling I think for close to a
million dollars is the amount that I saw seven hundred
thousand or something because they used his stuff without asking.
Speaker 4 (01:03:02):
That's pretty will Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:03:05):
But he didn't actually go through with the lawsuit. They
settled out.
Speaker 1 (01:03:08):
Yeah, he settled out before right. Yeah, let's see. According
to Michael J. Fox, he found out there was going
to be a sequel to Back to the Future when
he watched the VHS version and the words to be
continued were added at the end. He immediately called his
engine to make sure he was actually going to be
in it, which I think is funny. Like, of course
(01:03:28):
you're going to be in it, dude, you're okay. But
I guess they replaced the first guests.
Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
But that's how they but that's how he found out.
That's crazy, isn't that crazy? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
Pretty nuts.
Speaker 4 (01:03:39):
Do you think they would have been like, Hey, we're
gonna do it a sequel and we're going to add
this to the you know.
Speaker 1 (01:03:43):
The yeah, like just so you know. Yeah, So the
ledge on the clock tower that Doc broke in Back
to the Future in the past is still broken in
twenty fifteen, which is kind of fun, very the fun
little thing to see. H Griff's full head or hoverboard
was originally to be called mad Dog to foreshadow mad
(01:04:06):
Dog in Part three, but I think because they added Buford,
they just didn't have it called that.
Speaker 3 (01:04:15):
I guess, I don't know. Let's see.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
Zamecchis and Bob Gale we have admitted on the DVD
commentary that they were originally not interested in doing a
sequel to Back to the Future at all, and the
open ending of the first movie was simply meant to
be a final joke and they weren't ever going to
do anything for it, but the studio pushed for it, uh,
and they wanted to continue, you know, using Zamchis and Dale,
(01:04:43):
so you know, they figured it out. But he even
says Zamecha says, if he knew that he was going
to make a sequel, he would have made sure that
Jennifer wasn't in the car at the end of the
first film.
Speaker 4 (01:04:55):
Because is that why they had to reshoot that then?
Speaker 3 (01:04:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:05:00):
And they well and Elizabeth Shoe yeah yeah, and oh yeah,
and I didn't include that because originally I thought we
were going to do the first one as well.
Speaker 3 (01:05:10):
What was the actor's first name, Wells?
Speaker 1 (01:05:13):
Yeah, So Claudia Wells dropped out because her mother got
cancer so she went to take care of her. So
that was why the replacement happened. And apparently she runs
like a super high end clothing brand or something now,
so she's doing well and they have like.
Speaker 3 (01:05:29):
Since done interviews together and stuff. I guess. And there's
no hard for you, so that's nice that Yeah, that
would be hard for sure, but.
Speaker 1 (01:05:38):
I thought that was interesting anything to do.
Speaker 3 (01:05:42):
So they just kept having her knocked out.
Speaker 1 (01:05:45):
Different and then you're going to pass out. Don't worry
about that.
Speaker 3 (01:05:47):
That's fine.
Speaker 1 (01:05:50):
Let's see. Oh, the the new technique I was talking
about earlier for having two people on the screen at
the same time is called vista glide. There's four scenes
where they do that, with people interacting with other versions
of their own character.
Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
The camera move in any of those scenes or is
it a static shot?
Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
Are they still so?
Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
I think there's still shots because in one of the
scenes you can see someone's hand disappears as they go
too far into the movie. Yes, exactly, it all comes together,
that's what they tell us. But yeah, I thought that
was interesting. Let's see. Carl Sagan, astrophysicist, considers this the
(01:06:33):
greatest time travel movie ever made. He praised the accuracy
in handling multiple timelines as what would really happen if
time travel were possible at all?
Speaker 3 (01:06:42):
Wow? Just I guess.
Speaker 4 (01:06:48):
Just when did he say? When? Did he?
Speaker 1 (01:06:59):
Let's see? The Zamechas stated that the high school dance
scene from fifty five had to have all the same
costumes because they were gonna be shot at different angles,
and the production was nearly delayed because Leah Thompson's dress
couldn't be found even though there were three different versions
of it made for the eighty five movie, and she
eventually revealed to Zamechas that she still had one of
(01:07:19):
the original dresses and drove back to get it and
then brought it back and that's what they filmed in
so she kept one, which I think is really funny, funny.
But but Papa ba oh, there's the Claudioell stuff waited
the tagline for the Jaws nineteen movie. This time it's
(01:07:39):
really really personal, which is really funny. It also shows
Max Spielberg, which is Steven Spielberg's son, as the director
of it. And then we already said.
Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
The shark still looks bake, which is Spielberg's frustration with
Jaws originally, which is really funny.
Speaker 1 (01:08:00):
I thought this was interesting. So after Biff gets his
cane stuck in the DeLorean upon returning to twenty fifteen,
he starts to thrash around in pain, but the reasons
never explained, and Zamechis has stated that Biff was experiencing
the same thing Marty did at the end of the
first movie, Fading out of History. The idea was that
by going back in time to give the Sports Almanac
(01:08:21):
to his younger self, Biff somehow altered his own future
so that he no longer existed in the year twenty fifteen.
According to drafts of the script, it was the Lorraine
who had shot and killed the abuse of Biff in
nineteen ninety six. And apparently there's a deleted scene that
makes us clear. But that so that's why he was
in such pain. I guess I just got to hit
(01:08:43):
himself with the cane or something.
Speaker 3 (01:08:45):
I think was my answer. I didn't think about it.
Speaker 4 (01:08:48):
Yeah, okay, there's a lot of plot holes there.
Speaker 1 (01:08:52):
There's so many.
Speaker 3 (01:08:53):
I mean, that's why they took it out, you know.
Speaker 4 (01:08:54):
Yeah, So okay, who.
Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
Knows just before already and Doc leave twenty fifteen, there's
a shot of the time Machines control panel showing the
last time departed as November twelve, fifty five, six thirty
eight pm. If they'd have noticed that.
Speaker 3 (01:09:10):
They would have known someone used the time machine in
between when they did in this one.
Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
So I thought that was kind of cool. But yeah,
that was all the trivia I had, Rob, Did you
have any other I didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:09:20):
I didn't have any other, right, yeah, they didn't have
any other actors that were up for roles and things
like that.
Speaker 1 (01:09:27):
So all right, Adam, did you have anything we neglected
to say?
Speaker 4 (01:09:32):
I certainly don't have any. Oh yeah, did you know
that Leah Thompson is from Rochester, Minnesota?
Speaker 3 (01:09:37):
Oh yeah, Minnisota. You can really hear it when she's
like old and she does her oh mighty. Oh that's
a good funny.
Speaker 1 (01:09:47):
No, I didn't know she was from here. That's cool.
Speaker 3 (01:09:52):
Yeah, well that's fine. Will there be a sequel judgment? Dude?
Well there was, Yeah, we know there were. They talk
about it at length, even showed us clips, which was
so much fun. I loved I liked that. But do
you guys want to play a game? Yes, I made
a starting five for you where I'm gonna name actors,
(01:10:13):
five of them, and it's gonna be in a particular film.
And when you know the film, you're gonna ring in
with your name.
Speaker 1 (01:10:19):
Great.
Speaker 3 (01:10:20):
If you get it wrong, there won't be any negative points,
but you won't be able to guess again for that movie.
If their actors' names remaining, you can guess those for
a point each. The other person can steal if you
get any of those names wrong. Okay, and all of
these films have something in common. When you know the theme,
you can ring it at any time for a point.
It might have something to do with Back to the
(01:10:42):
Future Part two. Who knows? Who knows? Amazing? Cool? Are
we ready?
Speaker 4 (01:10:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
Sure. The first name is al Pacino. Ever heard of him? Yeah?
I think I just heard. He turned eighty five recently.
The second name is Austin Butler. The third name is
Margot Robbie, number four Brad Pitt, and the fifth and
(01:11:20):
final name is Leonardo DiCaprio. Fine, Oh, Adam Adam.
Speaker 4 (01:11:31):
Uh four Adam and I lost it just now, go ahead, Bukes.
Speaker 1 (01:11:36):
It's like, you know, it's like you're telling a story
to your children at night.
Speaker 4 (01:11:41):
Go ahead.
Speaker 1 (01:11:43):
Once upon a time in Hollywood.
Speaker 3 (01:11:45):
That is question mark. Okay, yep, good job. One point
for Bukes. Let's go to number two. Yeah, dude, he
is uh he's one of the like manson guys.
Speaker 1 (01:11:58):
Ah, that makes sense.
Speaker 3 (01:12:00):
Yeah, we talked about that, having since him at that point.
It was him and the Best Actress winner for Anora
last right, which they were Mikey Madison. Thank you. I
couldn't remember her name either. Yeah. Remember two. The first
name is Scatman Brothers. Probably the coolest name.
Speaker 1 (01:12:23):
That's man, but I can't picture him.
Speaker 4 (01:12:28):
That's a stage name.
Speaker 3 (01:12:30):
It's a great name, for sure. The second name Christopher Lloyd. Wow.
The third name is Danny DeVito.
Speaker 4 (01:12:51):
Oh is it who framed Roger Rabbitt? No, it's that
it is.
Speaker 3 (01:12:56):
You're going to be done. But that was a good guest.
Speaker 4 (01:13:00):
Do you realize it as soon as I said it, like, oh, no,
that's not Danny DeVito in that movie.
Speaker 3 (01:13:04):
Ye oh, that's funny. All right, So we have Scatman Brouthers,
Christopher Lloyd, Danny DeVito, muge. So the next name is
Louise Fletcher.
Speaker 1 (01:13:18):
That doesn't help.
Speaker 3 (01:13:20):
And the fifth and final name is Jack Nicholson.
Speaker 1 (01:13:27):
Yes, one floor over the Cuckoos.
Speaker 3 (01:13:30):
Sad is correct, that's another one. And Louise Fletcher was
nurse Ratchet who won in a cat Oh yeah, okay,
that did sounds so two points. Wait so that, oh
that doesn't work with the theme. Then what were you thinking?
Was your theme?
Speaker 4 (01:13:43):
You?
Speaker 3 (01:13:44):
My guess was going to be alternate timelines?
Speaker 4 (01:13:47):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:13:48):
Sure, yeah, I guess not that it's not that never mind, Okay, yeah,
we had Once upon a time in Hollywood and one
floor of the Cuckoos. Let's go number three. The first
name is Justice Smith. The second name is Hugh Grant. Oh,
(01:14:08):
number three. I was gonna look up how to say
this guy's name. It's very famous, right now, who's in Bridgerton?
It looks like Regge Jean Page r E g E
with an e accent and then Gene and then Page
(01:14:29):
rage Page Rage Gene Page. But he's very popular and
I should know his name. That's the fourth name is
Michelle Rodriguez. Huh uh bug zeugs. So there's one more
(01:14:49):
name remaining, right, that's correct?
Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
Okay, Uh, I'm gonna guess it's Dungeons and Dragons.
Speaker 3 (01:14:57):
Colon something. Thieves. I'll give you Thieves. No, that's a
different movie.
Speaker 4 (01:15:06):
I thought a month Thieves.
Speaker 3 (01:15:12):
Okay, nice, Okay, so I'll give you the other half
and but hold on, oh yeah, so one person remaining,
one person remaining Chris Pine. Then so you get one
and a half. Up gets a half. You're on the
board rood job buddy.
Speaker 4 (01:15:28):
Wait, I can't remember what the I'm just purposely beat
slower I had, I had one and three.
Speaker 3 (01:15:34):
I'm just like, no, I got you.
Speaker 4 (01:15:35):
Yeah, not trying to the gun.
Speaker 3 (01:15:37):
No, No, you don't want to jump the gun. But
maybe start jumping the gun is weird? Okay, yeah, so
far it's one spun time in Hollywood. One Food of
the Cuckoo's Nest, Dungeons and Dragons on her among thieves.
Let's go to number four. The first name is to
Me Moore, and I forgot she was in this, honest.
(01:15:58):
The second name is Ike Baron Holtz. I love him.
The third name is Tiffany Haddish. The fourth name is
Pedro pascal.
Speaker 4 (01:16:18):
On.

Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
Famous. Okay, and so there's one name remaining, Bukes Cage presumably.
Speaker 4 (01:16:44):
Yeah, so the giveaway, the giveaway is the fifth one
always then I take it. Well, yeah, of course that
makes sense. What I know all of these movies except
for I never saw I never saw that.
Speaker 1 (01:16:59):
Sure, sure people playing multiple versions of themselves?
Speaker 4 (01:17:04):

Adam Adam Eternal sunshign on the Spotless Mind Boom. And

Speaker 3 (01:17:49):
But that's not the one that I picked.

Speaker 4 (01:18:15):
I mean I would have guess Kate Winslet too.
Speaker 3 (01:18:18):
Well, so yeah, it's it's my favorite acting performances. And
Elijah Wood was just a small character. Kate Winslet was
up for an Academy Award for that movie. So that
makes more sense. So after five, how many points do
we have?
Speaker 4 (01:18:35):
I have one and a half.
Speaker 3 (01:18:37):
Adam is one and a half. I have five and
